This place deserves 5 stars and more. Portions? huge-generous and all flavorful! Price? Extremely comfortable Will I return? YESSS! Flautas? definitely put you in a nice food coma watching your favorite episode of walking dead. amazing plate! My Fave dish? ALL end of story. Pair it with a nice pale ale, kona beer or a refreshing stella and you're good to go.

I loved it. The meat has good flavor and the tortillas are fresh. Its the closest to authentic I have found nearby.

Let me tell you this Mexican restaurant is a hidden gem! Delicious! Can't tell you how often I crave Lupita but since it's not near my house I don't visit it often enough! I had the 4 tacos with rice and beans! Fire! And also ordered the fountain of cheese with chorizo! To die for! Must check it out, very inexpensive and quick for after your late night outings.

I have to be honest. Thw worst mexican restaurant in brickell by far. Dirty every where. Tex mex cusine. You can fell that the ingredients are not fresh at all. Stay away.

After a bike ride we yelped Mexican and this was the closest. It deserves more than the three star rating! It's nothing fancy but serves great food. Theft have about 6 tables outside and a very large inside. We sat inside and trusted the outside tables to guard our bikes since all tables were full. We asked for chips and salsa...you get a choice of red or green salsa. We chose red. It looks like a thick creamy tomato soup.we mixed the squirt bottle salsas in with it for a great spicy salsa. Chips could be better. Chips and salsa were free. My friend ordered three different tacos. $2 each and $.50 for cheese/taco. He said they were great. No lettuce or tomato on them because they are authentic. They use cojita cheese on everything! My other friend had chicken verde enchiladas with rice and beans. She enjoyed also. Service was quick. I saw margaritas on other tables that looked yummy. I will definitely return again.

So thankful I finally made it over to this place. We were planning on going to El Vato, when I saw this place and thought let's give it a try. Yes, I am a fan. I think I could eat here daily as much as I love Mexican food and this place is authentic. After two visits I really like their food and margarita's. First time we popped in for lunch. We sampled the queso dip with mushrooms and they give you small tortilla's that are homemade and delicious. We really enjoyed the queso. I tried the steak tacos with onions and cilantro which I loved. The steak had great flavor, excellent small tortilla's. It came with rice and beans, the beans were good but I did not care for the rice at all. They have happy hour Monday thru Friday from 3-8pm. We met before an event the other night and you can't beat their happy hour. As long as you drink you get any of their taco's for $1 and all of their drinks are $5. They have inside and outside dining and both times we chose to sit outside. We had the same very friendly waitress who was great. Good guacamole as well. We also had some awesome friends join us so the company was fabulous! George, Jenny, Nate & Nicole. Now I prefer them over El Vato, IMO better food, much better Margaritas and service. I do think their drink prices are a bit high during non happy hour so pop over for happy hour and you will be impressed. See you soon!

$5 Margaritas for Happy Hour!! Margaritas are pretty strong and pretty good.

Used to be my favorite Mexican restaurant but it has deteriorated with time and now despite the good value I won't return. The guacamole and chips was amazing but unfortunately they now serve it from frozen. Less than impressed... Also cleanliness is below standards

Gotta love the Happy Hour at this place. Through 8:00pm, you get five-dollar margaritas (check that: STRONG five-dollar margaritas) and one-dollar tacos. The tacos, while small, are packed with your choice of filling (anything from steak to beef to cochinito pibil, of which I had four because they were so freaking tasty and because, well... they were only one freaking dollar each). Aside from the environment they've created by pushing cheap food and drinks, it kind of feels like the happy hour "rules" are the only real rules La Lupita has in place. At some point in our evening, one of the people in our party pulled out a bottle of Mezcal, for which our serve was happy to provide shot glasses. La Lupita!

Everything you could want from a no-frills mexican joint. Delicious and fresh, friendly service, AND they're open late night?! It's happiness in a soft corn tortilla!

I don't know how long this place has been here, but I cannot believe it has taken me this long to realize it was there! My mother and I were on our way to El Vato for a Saturday lunch before work when we spotted this gem. Might as well try it right?! All the servers were very nice and attentive. We ordered some marge to start and queso with mushrooms. The queso was delicious, but they only give you 5 small corn tortillas and charge you for extra....boo. They put 3 sauces on the table. 1 really spicy one, a brown one, and one other. The brown one is delicious. I don't know what is in it, but it has amazing flavor. I put it on everything. Mom had a regular marg and I had a frozen strawberry one. The regular marge are DEFINITELY BETTER. My strawberry frozen margarita was bland and very watery. It didn't really tastes like strawberries or tequila. wahhh For my meal I ordered the La Lupita Burrito! Delicious--however it comes with red and green sauce on it. I would steer clear of the red sauce, it tastes eerily familiar to ketchup. The green sauce on the other hand was to die for!!! and the burrito was HUGE! and very yummy! Mom had tacos, I believe, but I didn't try them. She said they were good though. Another boo is the fact that they don't give you chips and salsa. If you ask for some, they charge you....boo As we were sitting there, we read a sign about their happy hour. We immediately made plans to come back! Margaritas are $5 during happy hour if you order $1 tacos!!!!!!! The marge are normally $10! We came back about a week later and divulged into many marge and many tacos! For my tacos I ordered the carnitas which were delicious!!!!! So good. I did ask for sour cream, however, but it tasted and looked like mayo, very strange. The location is a little strange, and if you sit outside it is right next to a parking garage, but hey, everything can't be perfect right? This probably would have been 4 stars if it weren't for everything they charge extra for. The prices are a little steep on margaritas and some of the main dishes--but Brickell... We will definitely be back!

Even though the place place is authentic (not too many around the area) the flavor and service are definitely not the best. The tortillas completely lack flavor, are taken out of a bag and were previously frozen. Same impression with the mushrooms that looked as if they came out of a can. The salsas were plain and flavorless. I would definitely recommend anyone to look for alternatives, after all Little Havana is not that far.

Located in Brickell, with a staff that is super friendly, this place is and always will be my go-to spot to grab the best Tacos in town! Try the pastor tacos: pork & pinapple... yum.

    (4)
  • Steffi M.

I wouldn't suggest ordering anything other than tacos. They're cheap (i think like 2.50 each) decent, and usually come in a couple mins. Tried a few times to order other things and wasn't very impressed. Def need to do something about the interior. It looks like they left up whatever decor a previous (non mexican) restaurant left behind and threw down some thrift store lawn furniture/ random decorations and called it good. If you do not speak spanish, you will be frustrated. They are not fluent in English

  • Yssa L.

Happy Hour margaritas are the bomb! For 5 bucks you can never go wrong! Tried the frozen, acapulco and the hibiscus! Decent size.. Not your typical restaurant in the heart of brickell, it has this homey atmosphere you don't need to dress up to eat here. I love the tacos and echiladas! Yum yum!!! I will keep on coming back here.

I love Mexican food, but there are plenty of options around Brickell and surrounding area. The server brought out menus after we sat down outside, and looked annoyed when we needed a minute to look at the drink menu. When he came back and we were not ready to order, I started asking his opinion/translation on one of the items, and he walked away! The food was ok - I had the tortilla soup and we shared a bowl of mixed meat and guac, with 5 flat breads to make your own meal. I just started out on my soup when the main arrived (annoying since one of them was bound to be eaten cold) and the server never returned after dropping it off. We needed to flag another server down to get cutlery (so we didn't have to scoop the guac and meat into the flat bread with our hands) and then again to get another drink. Once we were finished, there was no offer to get me another drink (since it was empty) or to take a look at desserts. Instead the check was brought out right away with an automatic gratuity! The nerve!

Personally, I think they make the best margaritas in Brickell. I like their flautas, prices and pleasant waitresses.

Finding a restaurant with good tasting Mexican food can be hard in a city like Miami. There are Cuban and Colombian joints on almost every corner, but to find a place that serves up tasty Mexican food is a little more of a challenge. I have been here a couple of times and I would say it is my go-to Mexican restaurant in Miami Downtown/Brickell area. I would recommend the enchilada plate or the taco plate. The ingredients are fresh and the taste blend together greatly. I have never been a fan of refried beans, but oh man, they are fuego here. So tasty. Also, you can get a decent size meal for under $13.00 with tax and tip. All and all, I would say this is a great spot for Mexican food in Miami. PS: If you like spicy food, try their hottest sauce. Its the best.

    great food and micheladas!

The flautas are the best. The rice and the beans and the burrito are just average just get the flautas and the drinks.

Mexican food is my favorite and this is my favorite place to have it. Awesome happy hours, love the micheladas, melted cheese with chorizo, quesadilla, the guacamole is huge, hot sauces delicious, yummy tacos... Service is not amazing but whatever for this prices in the area, can't ask for more.

If your looking for a place to eat after 3:00am then this is a def a good place to get some carbs sober up and hydrate. Service is ok , and the food is good, i've had the cheese quesadilla and nachos with guacamole. It doesn't get as packed as other places I've been to in brickell around that time.

Decided to give this place another try after realizing I had yet to go for happy hour. I went on a Tuesday afternoon with my dog, sat outside, and enjoyed a $5 frozen margarita and three $1 tacos. Everything was delicious and the service was much improved! I even had good conversation with a server who was not mine (Brandon I think was his name?). This is some of the best Mexican food in the area (& this is coming from a Texan) and the happy hour prices can't be beat. I will be returning and can't wait to try some of their other offerings.

The food is one of the best I've had. Usually get the torta or chilaquiles. Margaritas are pretty good.

I come here often. My favorite thing on the menu is the queso fundido con chorizo. Everything else is honestly just ok. The quality is very hit or miss as is the service. Not bad for late night eats, but not great.

  • Taline B.

Delicious guacamole, great tacos, Amazing quesadilla and friendly Staff. I am a huge fan of late night food and love everything Mexican so when you mix late nights with friends and tacos it is bound to be phenomenal. La Lupita was a pleasant surprise and very tasty.

Cold beans, bad service and defensive wait staff. Food took so long we almost walked out. Chicken had no seasoning, more like a grilled chicken. Not a good experience.

There was a fly in my sopes! The cook inside looks like he hasn't showered in days. There was a fly eating the refried beans in my sopes. ALIVE & not moving or trying to. This place is open very late and therefore why I think they stay in business. Honestly I don't understand how they manage when they serve burnt & oily chips. The simplest thing to make. They serve cold beans. Carne asada has no flavor and it is always overcooked. The only thing that made me come back was the ranchera music. -I know- All these mexican american places play house music. The owner came by to my table and saw the fly in my dish and said, "Que cosa mas grande caballero" , I repeat do not go!

The guys that work here are all really nice. Margaritas are awesome! Tacos and guacamole were pretty good.

  • Lyn B.

let's say the only thing I liked was the margarita and guacamole & chips. My boyfriend is mexican and the food is nowhere near to authentic mexican food. The meat had no flavor and extremely salty! The service was poor, they seemed like they didn't care about the customer.the "Gringa" which is like a quesadilla was horrible.!! won't go back there ever, I;m surprised they've been there for so long. :/

This is the BEST authentic mexican restaurant in town. I would definitely recommend this place. Great service. Amazing food and cool atmosphere!

  • Jose Angel C.

The food is good but the service is TERRIBLE!!!......... I am Mexican from Guadalajara, so i know what REAL Mexican food is, the food is GOOD, not bad but not excellent, i had a very bad experience with a cuban waitress(not MEXICAN) and with the bartender/mananger, trying several times to stick me with other food i DID NOT order!!!!!! In result, LA LUPITA lost my business. There are better TACOS out there with even better SERVICE........ go to "Tacos Al Estilo Michuacan" now those are real MEXICAN tacos with REAL Mexican SERVICE(and cheaper too)

    (1)
  • Miles V.

Solid tacos. Cheap, quick, fast, delicious. Service is great also. Steak is the best in my opinion but they're all decent. Convenient location at 1060 Brickell also. Great place to grab a quick bite for dinner with a friend or on the stumble home. Highly underrated and would take this place over rosa or el vato any day.

Best Taco's in town! - Real authentic Mexican food, good taste and great hot sauce's I love their Guacamolie and chips too! On a fair price! and they have full bar now which make's it much better now! you can even have tequilas with your taco's I really like this place!

  • Thomas S.

I typically don't leave negative reviews but for the sake of other potential diners I will, in this case, do my duty. I live in the building and love mexican food so I would have settled for a pretty low quality meal and not complained. I ordered the flautas and they were terrible. It was as if they were cooked and left in the refrigerator all week before a quick stop in the microwave on the way to my plate. I couldn't finish it. This review is based on one expensive and terrible plate. If they respond to this post and remove falutas from their menu, I'll consider returning.

Nothing to go crazy over. I've had better Mexican food. I will say that they need to improve on the cleanliness of this facility.

  • Analise C.

just gross. The guacamole was way too creamy and didnt taste very fresh - gave me the impression that it was store bought or pre made + to top it all off i saw my food being heated up in a microwave. I ordered the steak tacos and the meat was fatty and tastless. Our server would continuously reach accross our table to pick up crumbs, napkins etc...i understand she is trying to keep the table clean you do not need to interrupt my conversation and reach across my food 3 times in 20 minutes. After the mediocre food and less than acceptable service they hit you with a %15 gratuity already included in your check. I'll stick to El Vato Tequila across the street.

  • Frankie A.

Delicious tacos. They're not the huge Taco Bell monstrosities we love so dear, so you'll def want to buy more than one.( about 2-$3 a pop) They make a fantastic michelada ( I had A VERY SPICY a la cubana) so if you're into beer cocktails, this place gets my vote =) The plates are a bit on the small side, but the food is wonderfully flavored and they have 3 delicious house sauces as a bonus. It's open until 5AM and may very well be the best option for after party snacking on brickell.

I've only been here once so far & the food was very good. I went on a Sunday afternoon & everything was fresh & the service was good. We were the only customers as I think they had just opened for the day. Will definitely give them another visit when I'm in the area again in the early afternoon. I split the molcajete with a friend, very delicious. We also had a classic margarita which was also very good.

    (4)
  • Berenice P.

I ordered the 3 tacos combo which included beans and rice. Being Mexican from California, the beans were right up my alley since everywhere I go in Miami the beans are made differently (I'm guessing Cuban style? not my fave) My bf ordered the Molcajete which included chicken, carne asada, nopales, fresh salsa and side of tortilla, lets just say he left nothing in that molcajete (FYI the molcajete is that stone looking bowl mostly used to make guacamole) Anyway, the food was as authentic as you can get, and you have to try the guacamole, delicious!! I saw people giving bad reviews, I'm guessing they're not used to eating authentic Mexican food, like my bf thinks taco bell is authentic.

    (4)
  • Jordan N.

The food are somewhat bland, but they're not bad. I guess they'll have to do until Brickell gets another taqueria. I tried the pozole here and it was not that good - a bit too watery and lacking in flavor. The tacos were good though, but I'm sure you could have the same or better ones at other taquerias. The fundido con chorizo was also good although greasy (but who would think it would NOT be greasy if it was going to have chorizo?) Overall, it's a "safe" place for authentic Mexican in Brickell (you're not gonna have much options for Mexican in Brickell anyways); however, I think it's preferable to just drive over to the neighboring Little Havana and have some tacos at several of the more authentic and tastier taquerias there.

What you see is what you great. Cheap Mexican food. Cheap margaritas. Open late. It's a quick, casual place for a quick cheap bite. Good for kids.

The sofrecitos/tacos de bistec are incredible. the guacamole and chips need more salt. the place is good for late night.. or anytime.

This place is okay. It's authentic. The food is somewhat plain and bland but its decent. Its casual. It's not quick, but it's not slow either. The tacos and the queso fundido are quite good. The chicken is good. The beef is not so tender. It's inexpensive.

It's 4:30 AM. You've enjoyed a solid night of recreational activity. And now you're starving. La Lupita is the only logical next step. You can crawl there from any location in Brickell. Their guacamole will revive you. The flautas will send you into the perfect post-party food coma. And you will wake up feeling like a champ. Actually ... maybe not. But at least you can congratulate yourself on your fabulous late-night snack choices. Trust me on this one, even if you don't remember it tomorrow -- the food is delicious and you can always indulge in a bucket of beers if you feel like tying one on (note: for the committed partier only).

Consistent in delivering an assortment of Mexico City specialties including queso fundido, tacos de bistek, cochinita pibil and sopes. Good assortment of Mexican beers and tequilas.

I remember the first time I went to La Lupita and was happy to find a decent Mexican restaurant in my nieghborhood. We ordered several tacos which were good. Went back a couple of more times and the quality and service started to go way down. The tacos were cold on several occasions like the meat or filling was right out of the refrigerator and not even attempted to heat it up. Cooks fault I suppose. Another time I ordered a taco with cheese and it was not even melted. Normally it should be. I wish they would have continued to pay attention to the quality and service as they did in the beginning and not take things for granted as people started to recommend this place for the tacos (just like I did) but not anymore. I hope they read this review and really begin to start taking care of these details or lose more customers. After several attempts, wont be going back again. Sorry.

This place used to be my favorite, but management and chefs have changed. I still go but not as regularly bc it's hit or miss. Hopefully they improve and go back to how they were.

Finally got the chance during lunch to checkout this place. Simple menu I wish they gave chips and salsa when you sat down. I didn't even see it on the menu. I ordered the tacos I got 3 each were $ 2 and .50 to add cheese. The tacos shells were definitely homemade and very good. I would like to go backhand try something else. The menu was simple nothing crazy or expensive.

Lupita is the kind of place I love to visit on off hours. Yes, I've visited for a normal meal at a normal hour... but my favorite memories of this place involve eating tacos and guac after a long evening of bar hopping in Brickell. The last visit was Saturday night... because nothing says St.Patrick's Day like tacos. Of course, it was SLAMMED around midnight... but after a short weight in line (that included an obnoxious confrontation with a drunk, unruly customer in line behind us - he was later asked to leave)... we were seated. They had run out of tortilla chips (really??), so my guacamole dreams were briefly dashed. But then the waitress asked if guac with tiny tortillas was okay. I'm a guac-fiend, so yes, that's okay for now. That, plus a couple of tacos... hit the spot. I haven't ventured outside of the taco selection... but I'm happy to have this place around for those days when you don't want to think about where to go in Brickell (and you don't want to spend the Brickell $)

Me and my friend (both from Mexico City) decided to try "La Lupita". We've been there twice and I can assure you it was excellent! FOOD: it tastes like Mexico (review made by 2 Mexicans who were born and have lived in Mexico for more than 25 years).. ---IT IS NOT TACO BELL OR BAJA FRESH---, in case people from other nationalities are expecting something Americanized. FAVORITE MEAL: Pozole! and let me tell you, prepare Pozole isn't easy even for a Mexican. LOCATION: it's just one block from Brickell Village so location is GREAT! PLACE: great ambience and decor. SERVICE: the two times I've been there, excellent. CLEANINGLESS: table, floor, ceiling, waiter, walls, etc were clean. PRICE: well, we took advantage of the special of the day which was $9.95 pozole or 3 tacos and soup + $2.50 jamaica drink (which is refilled).. So price for a place located in Brickell, I think its awesome! As for the tip, I didn't like it was already included on my bill (15%).. At least, service was worth it. PARKING: well, you gotta park in the street with parking meter ($1.75/hr) HOURS: Weekdays: Lunch time to midnight. Weekends: Lunch time to 6AM!!!!!!

  • Pierre K.

I would not go there for dinner because I am not a fan of the setting, but let me tell you that at 5AM after a night out on Brickell, this place HITS THE SPOT!! Tacos are good, not great, not bad, just good. There are better ones in Miami but at 5AM who cares! Prices are also right. I only eat tacos when I go there and they hover around $2 which is where they should be. All in all a good place.

Differenty my kind of Mexican food. Nothing like the texmex u find in Miami. For sure authentic. The flautas are just as my aunt makes them bak home. A must try

After a hunger induced argument, the BF and I decided to walk to Brickell for some belly filling food. Something drew our eyes (or nose) to La Lupita - and I'm glad it did! There were no other patrons which usually is a bit concerning but this place is far enough behind the action that I can see how it would get missed. The service was great - I even got to try the cactus before I ordered which was nice. My (pork) tacos were amazing, but on the salty side (which was okay for me). This place isn't cheap by any means, but it also won't break the bank. ($10-15 per plate) Beers were average for Brickell ($5). Not sure how quickly I'll be back with all the eating options in Miami it takes a lot for me to keep coming back. I'd definitely recommend it for some good Mexican in the area, though!

    (3)
  • Lorena C.

This is a great place to eat while at brickell without breaking the bank. They are open till late, a plus for those after party munchies. Will definitely recomend their guacamole, tacos and chimichanga. Be warned this place is for snacks only, dont expect 4 star dining just a little local mexican taqueria. I went with a group of 10, and the waiter was happy to split the bill however we wanted, love that.

First time I've ever been prompted to write a review because this place was so bad. Here's the list of why we'll not be back: 1. waitress tried to push the "drink specials" on us, telling us how good a deal they were. A $9 cocktail for lunch is not a good deal in my book. 2. asked the waitress to describe the difference between al pastor and cochinita pibil (I generally know the difference but wanted to see what she'd say). Her answer: "they're different. al pastor is with pineapple, and cochinita pibil is different, you know". I said no, I don't know, that's why I'm asking. Her response "well cochinita pibil is a latin thing that we have in all latin countries" (I am a gringa, but not born yesterday - I KNOW not all latin countries have cochinita pibil and in fact I'm pretty sure Mexico is the only country that has it.) At any rate, NOT a meaningful description. 3. husband ordered the chicken alambres, and waitress says rudely says "no the shrimp alambres are on special" - to which husband had to insist that he did in fact want the chicken alambres. 4. husband's alambres were a plate full of bell peppers. when he said to the waitress "just an observation, this is mostly bell peppers - I have to hunt to find the few pieces of chicken.", she insisted "that's how it is. they're like fajitas" (my husband almost told her it's like she's trying to sell a bald man a haircut, as he lived in Mexico City for ~15 years, but realized it would be a waste of his time) 5. the molcajete I ordered was broken, and it appeared tortillas were placed in the bottom to cover the crack. 6. the waitress continued to speak to me in Spanish although I asked her all questions in English. 7. at the end of the meal the waitress just told us how much it was. when we asked for a receipt she just said she'd forgot to print it out. when we insisted we wanted to see the receipt, what do you know - she'd added on automatic gratuity for her terrible service! Too bad, because it would be nice to have a real Mexican (not Tex-Mex) place closer to Miami than Homestead :( If you do go to Homestead, Tacos de Morelia has some of the most awesome tacos al pastor you'll find outside of Mexico City ;)

Under the influence of whatever you choose, in my case alcohol, la lupita does the job. It's in walking distance of places with liquor and the food is greasy. I told my friend Ceci that I won't walk her home anymore because she lives in the building attached to this late-night diet buster. Let me try to recount the meals "enjoyed" here. The quesadilla is strangely deep-fried (cop-out!), the molcajete was ok but the steak was tough, the steak tacos have like two tiny pieces of steak, and I think the tortilla chips were overcooked at least one of the times I stumbled in. Not worth the calories, sorry Ceci.

I have to say I'm disappointed in some of the reviews, sad to hear not many people like this place. On another note: I thought it was very good. Living in Cali for 2 years and going to Mexico this is one of the closest places I've been to that I can honestly say was just as close to actual Mexican food. I think a lot of people who have never really tasted true Mexican food have another idea behind it, or they are just used to the everyday fast food (which is Americanized). My boyfriend and I got the guacomole with chips, we thought it was very good (not the best we have had but pretty good). We opted to get what is called Sopecitos (3) traditional corn cakes with potatoes and chorizo, beef, chicken and refried beans, lettuce, onions with green, red sauce. WOW this dish was excellent. I will definitely order this again next time we go. We also decided to get one of each of the tacos on the list: Tacos Al Pastor - prepared with their traditional recipe-standard yet delicious with cilantro and onion Tacos De Bisteck - beef served in tortilla with cilantro and onion Tacos De Chuleta pork rib in tortilla Tacos De Chorizo delicious mexican chorizo in tortilla Tacos De Chuleta Ahumada with natural smoked pork rib (Wow what flavor coming from that smoked grill) Tacos De Pollo with grilled chicken I would definitely say the extra .50 cents for cheese isn't worth it, you couldn't really taste the cheese and it's better off without it. Our favorites was the appetizer (Sopecitos) and the two Chuleta and Chorizo tacos. I haven't tried anything else on the menu but the tacos were DELISH.

Not too authentic like my favorite Mexican joint, but pretty close though. It's a bit pricey for my taste considering it's Mexican. I mean that's the beauty of Mexican food besides the fact that its full of flavor it's well known for being inexpensive. Anyway the deal breaker here is clearly the location, anything in Brickell is pretty much twice as much. So my favorite dishes are as follows, queso fundido con chorizo, y Alambritos with flour tortillas. Oh yeah and there guacamole is pretty damn good as well, definitely a must order side. Enjoy my fellow foodies.

Omg soooooo good! La Lupita is so consistent in it's meal preparation. We ordered the quesadilla, Queso fundido and 2 beef tacos all for $17!!! And when I asked David our waiter if what we ordered came with tortilla chips he said no but still brought us out a small bowl to enjoy with our Queso! What great service! Stop in... You will be sure to fall in love as I have!

We went there for a late night bite recently and came out perfectly satisfied. The establishment doesn't have a great ambiance, but it does the job....satisfy a taco craving. The tacos are small but filled with flavor. I tried the meat and the chorizo tacos and they really packed in some flavor...add on the special hot sauce and your golden. I will be back for another taco fix at a very reasonable price. :-)

Really I give the food 4 stars but the service 2, so my final rating landed right in the middle. Honestly, as a former server I was quite irked during my whole meal because I felt the server, Ricardo, had an attitude problem with me. At first I thought he was just dry/cold, which isn't a good quality in a server but I am willing to accept. However, I saw him being very friendly with another table and realized that this was more an issue with our table. Perhaps because when we walked in we asked to see the menu before deciding if we were staying? I don't see why that should be an issue, but I guess it made him think we were cheap because he added on the 15% gratuity. Mind you, this was just a party of 2 and no where does it state that gratuity would be added. Oh, also like someone else stated in another review they charge you an extra 25¢ for onions and cilantros on your tacos. I don't mind the charge considering that the tacos are only $2/each, $2.50 with cheese, but I feel that it should be stated either on the menu or at the time of ordering. OK, let's move on to the food, a much happier subject. I ordered the chorizo taco, the smoked pork rib taco (chuleta humada), and the tacos al pastor, all with cheese, cilantro and onions. The sweetness of the pineapple was a nice compliment to the savory meat of the al pastor, and the sauce of the chorizo taco was quite yummy, but the star IMO was the smoked pork rib taco. MMMmmmMMM...I could have one of these every day and not get tired of it, the flavors and texture were spot on. This is actually the reason that I will overlook the lackluster service and return to this establishment and give them another chance. Hopefully next time I get service on par with the quality of their tacos.

More than decent Mexican fare opened LATE Night, it just seemed like a good idea at 3am, and it ended being a great end to a great night. The prices are decent and the food is good, the restaurant is decorated really pretty and they have indoor and outdoor seating. The taquitos were really tasty and so was the guacamole which is a very generous portion. My favorite part was the super spicy sauce they have on every table, theres three categories, i just mixed them all up and they are delicious.

Totally messed up my order.. the salad I got instead was bland and blah. I was not impressed in the least. Then they had me stand there for 5 min because their register was not working properly, which normally wouldn't be such a big deal if they had not completely dropped the ball on my order in the first place. I'm sure they have better menu items, and maybe they were having a bad day.. but I won't be going back.

So I was going to refrain, until I saw the ridiculous 5 stars just posted about this place. Then I thought "hmmm... this review is fishy". So I figured I'd give a candid comment. Miserable Failure. Let me preface my review with that I was excited to try this place... repeatedly. But because the few times I originally showed up the place was closed (during posted open hours). So I happened upon it one afternoon when it was actually open. Moving right along to the positive review! So I've witnessed the same thing Michael O says -- some woman sitting there more interested in giving directions than doing anything to help with the service. WTF is that all about? If you're there to appear in some management capacity, then manage -- or go home. It is uncomfortable for customers to sit there and watch a disinterested woman boss around her staff like little peons while ignoring customers. Food: I really didn't have any expectation other than tacos. Right? TACOS! How can you screw up tacos? I'm no chef, but the ones here sure managed to figure out how to make a bad taco. I thought tacos were sort of like pizza... there's no such thing as a bad one. Ingredients were dry, lacking flavor, and cooooooold. I had to send back my dish to warm up. It returned 15 minutes later just slightly warmer. Speed: Well... I had hoped to have a nice quick lunch bite... but I was LITERALLY waiting to be greeted for 15 minutes after being seated (with only about 4 other people in the place). The poor guy who served me was so nice but I think afraid after being chastised by the "Manager" sitting opposite of our table. Anyway - another 45 minutes passed before food came out. I didn't expect 3 simple tacos where I noticed the meats were preprepared to take 45 minutes to arrive.... I was relatively upset by this point. But knowing the nearest Taco Bell was a good drive away, I just kept to myself and consumed my "Tacos". I thought to myself that I should mention something to the woman just sitting there... but then I figured I'm about as interested in helping her business succeed as she was in helping me out when I was waiting ... and waiting... and waiting... and waiting... for service & food. Though I do have to say the servers were friendly when they appeared... but being friendly won't make my grumbling tummy happy. Bottom line. Taco Bell wins.

Brickellites rejoice, hell everyone stand up and cheer. There is a new Mexican restaurant in Miami with good food. I stopped in this week since it's right in my neighborhood but thanks to its long hours anyone can drop in. We shared the queso fundido with chorizo and then I had chicken and churrasco tacos. I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. It's important to note: they just opened and don't yet have their beer and wine license. Also since the place just opened the staff is a little slow but I was there for the food and I wasn't disappointed.

After having a great time Saturday night, we stopped by La Lupita and a bunch of friends ordered real Mexican tacos at 5:30 AM!!! The tacos were tasty and authentic. Service was slow and the place was kinda busy. Make sure you order at least one taco with cheese and one without to get the range of flavors.

theres a little taqueria in somerville called 'lupitas', thats one of my favorite spots in boston. every time im there i must eat there. so when i heard about a place called la lupita here in miami i was like, hell yeah. but then i went to check it out and... bland. i have no problem with americanized mexican food, at all. i actually love it. even taco bell at some point was good to me, anyways, la lupita is not even that. they use real corn tortillas, i believe, (i didnt get a taco) tacos are served with chopped onions and cilantro... so whats the problem? its just not cooked right. i had a torta and in comparison to other places even here in miami, it was kinda lame. i ate it cause i was hungry and it did not taste bad, but it just left me uninterested about the rest of the menu. perhaps cause they are just getting started? might update this review...

With a great location and price points for the menu items there is lots of potential for this place to succeed once they iron out some of the wrinkles. I plan to come back after they've been open longer because they happen to be in my neighborhood, and well, I love mexican food. At $2 a taco, the pricing allows you to taste a variety of tacos to find the one you liked. They are a tasty snack, but for a hungry girl like me, they'd never be enough. In the future I'd have to order sides....like guacamole. But wait, there wasn't any guacamole to be found on the menu! Also not to be found: tequila, corona, negro modelo or any beer or liquor whatsoever. I specifically came here for a beer, tacos and guacamole and just got tacos. And some flautas to start. I've had much better flautas in my life, but these were tasty. No chips and salsa on the table before the meal. I'm a girl from Chicago who's had some great authentic Mexican food and so I wasn't impressed here. I also had some expectations (like beer & guacamole) that weren't met. The food was fresh and well seasoned -- not the kind of place where every menu item is just a different combination of refried beans, corn tortilla, cheese and salsa -- so that's a good thing... With a varied menu there might be that one thing that will keep me coming back for more and who knows? They might just get a liquor license soon. Everything is better with beer!

I came across La Lupita out of coincidence. I had finished running and was starving. I received an email that contained a couple of restaurant names and La Lupita caught my attention. Perhaps because I have a friend that goes by "Lupita." Anyway, this place is a bit tricky to find! It had me looking for it for a good 10 mins. It's like a little whole on a wall. LITERALLY! It's very small and I think it consists of like a 5 person staff. Now... on to the good stuff. The QUESO FUNDIDO is amazing! You can add CHORIZO if you like but be warned... It is extremely fattening! The mixed flautas are also good. The beef ones have more flavor than the chicken. Stick to those. They also give you four little plates with hot sauces... The bright red sauce is EXTREMELY spicy. Use it wisely. :-)

Love this little place. A small gem in Brickell. This mexican find is authentic and cheap. Great food for the price. Service is very prompt. Everything is delicious and great for a long day after work. The tacos are awesome. I would say 3-4 per person is perfect. Great thing to know about this place: it's open until 6am. So if you're out in Brickell late night, looking for something good but don't want fast food? Here is the place to go. Not a lot of things are open that late in Brickell.

I am assuming that this place stays in business due to the late night crowd, because I went during the week at 730 pm and it was dead. I ordered the guacamole, which they seemed to have scooped with an ice cream scoop right out of a cold fridge. Then the food just came out WAY to fast, maybe in 5 minutes. it had to be microwaved. Next the service..... If we are your only customers, would it kill you to smile, make a suggestion, make us feel welcome?? All I could think of during the meal was how many things needed to be changed in this place in order for them to make it. It just takes a little bit of common sense. The food was so mediocre that I cn't even remember what I ordered, and this was only a week ago.

Being Mexican I was super excited when I heard this place was offering authentic Mexican food, specially to know that they were offering tacos al pastor the original way, we went the other day and tried several items, and it was ah-ok, I guess is an excellent spot for any Brickell snob who dont want to go to a hole in the wall in Calle 8 or take the trip to Homestead or Pompano. The food is good dont get me wrong, but it is not that tasty and the tortillas are made with a kind of corn that again makes them not so tasty.

Me encanta la comida mexicana, and I am so happy to have checked out this place. It has been great (and inexpensive) through the several times that I have been so far - not only are the dishes delicious, the service has always been attentive through both busy and off-peak mealtimes. The only negative I can say is that the occasional taco has arrived at the table cold, so while hot tacos have tasted in the A-range, the cold ones are a solid B-. It is odd really that anything is cold at all, as from its presentation and generally-great flavor the chefs clearly care about the food they are sending out, so hopefully they will find a way to address this. Favorite items so far have been tacos al pastor, queso fundido, molcajete, and the delicious guacamole. They are open lunch and dinner hours except for Thu/Fri/Sat when they stay open until 5 or 6 AM.

Their tacos are splendid. But not until they get fresh sauces on the table will I change my rating to 5. Otherwise, it's worth the hassle of driving over.

Maybe it is too new, maybe they are still working out the kinks, but I found this new Mexican place to be good. Not great. But it is good. The place has a new cool vibe to it when you walk in. Tonight, there was a server:patron ratio of 4:1. Hopefully, this will change for them soon. The refried beans, queso fundido, and tostadas were excellent but the tacos and the carne tampequena (?) left a lot to be desired unless you happen to be a big fan of their sauces, which you will certainly need to put on the food. And the hot sauces were just that, hot. They weren't that tasty. Good lunch place. Would consider going back for dinner one more time.

I will preface saying I've lived in San Antonio for a period of time, spent a few years in Mexico City as a child and have even been known to appreciate more Americanized Mexican. This place should be avoided. The meats were preprepared. The chicken was awful and obviously frozen after it was shredded from what tasted like a rotisserie chicken. The equivalent of fajitas were simply awful. Again the meat preprepared and simply heated up in a skillet. Everything was extremely over salted due to being preprepared, I suspect they literally buy most of their ingredients from a pre packed kitchen establishment. My girlfriend had the green enchiladas and portions of the chicken were basically frozen. From a guy who knows and loves TRUE Mexican cuisine and the best Mexican American cuisine, avoid this place. I am not exaggerating when I say it is AWFUL. Left there three hours ago and it felt like I ate at TGI Friday's. Speaking of which I have had MUCH better Mexican food in Paris and Prague!! How ironic is that?

I had no idea that La Lupita existed until one day this week when I ventured out of my office on Brickell Avenue and off the beaten path towards Miami Avenue. I have been discussing with my foodie friends at work how we need to branch out and try some of the new places that are popping up all over the area. Honestly, I didn't even want Mexican food, but my co-worker Rebecca, being the decisive person that she is, yanked me by the arm into this tiny restaurant. The waitress greeted us rather quickly and was extremely attentive throughout our experience; however, the service alone cannot make up for the failure that was our meal. I ordered an iced tea and was brought sweetened Nestea in a can - GROSS. I ordered the consomme al pollo to start. The waitress approached me with a large steaming bowl of soup. She set it down with a smile and quickly walked away. I picked up the spoon and stirred around the bowl - not much to it... maybe a couple peas, carrots and a few bites of chicken... big disappointment (especially at $6 for the bowl). Next on the table were the tacos. I ordered a chicken taco and a pork taco. At $2 a pop, these are cheap but are also super tiny. You get what you pay for I suppose. Sadly, they completely lacked any kind of flavor whatsoever. They were edible, but nothing remotely special. Even the guacamole that we ordered was bland and the chips were chewy like wet cardboard. It's too bad. The location of this place rocks and I'm sure they would do well if they adjusted the menu and hired a chef that knows how to cook some kick-ass authentic Mexican cuisine. When I get a hankering for some tacos, I'll take myself over to my good old standby, Baja Fresh!

So this is pretty good solid Mexican food. It's well priced, it's flavored correctly, and doesn't try to be something it's not. It's as close to authentic Mexican that I've been able to find in Miami. I would hit here vs. Rosa Mexicano any day. The only thing that I can't understand is when you order, they bring out three dishes of salsa... but no chips. Chips have to be ordered separately. I think that there should be a rule, that if you go to a Mexican restaurant, chips should come out - sort of like bread at most other restaurants. Come to think of it - this is the only place other than Taco Bell - that doesn't automatically give you chips. What gives?? But the tacos, tortas, and queso fundido is all good.

terribly disappointing sums it up - and I really, really wanted to like this place. to be honest, all in all it was not an entirely horrible experience, but all of the issues and drawbacks piled together at once were too much and they made this a negative enough encounter that I hesitate to say I even wanna go back and try again. I will say the servers and wait staff were very nice and trying pretty hard to do a good job, but it just felt as if this place hasn't found it's rhythm yet, on many levels. the space is nice, cool, with a trendy industrial feel to it. the music was all over the place, random and way too loud for me. the menu looked great and we were really excited. we started with the queso fundido con rajas which was decent, if not a bit on the bland side. we also got chips and guacamole - the chips were really tasty but the guac, although fresh, was unimpressive. we also ordered the mixed flautas (chicken and beef) and despite the fact that it was the best dish we tried, they were nearly devoid of taste were it not for the salsa, cream, and queso on top. we moved on to the enchiladas verdes (with chicken) which came out completely cold. they were essentially just like the chicken flautas but in a soft tortilla instead. again, the flavor of the tortillas and the chicken was surprisingly tasteless and the toppings are what saved the meal - however, the beans were very tasty and I ate every last bit of them. we also had the molcajete which was smaller then we expected and the meat was tough - like tough, tough and chewy - also quite flavorless. basically, were it not for the guac, cream, cheeses and salsa, these dishes would have been bad. the service of the meal was slow (maybe due to kitchen issues although it was pretty empty) and we had to ask several times for things like water and silverware. we had to wait a long time for the check and when it came there was an extra meal on there, one we had not ordered and/or received. once again it took way too long to correct the issue and then again to process the payment. I didn't really want to pan this place or even give it a negative review before giving it another chance, but in reality, I'm not sure that's gonna happen - and if so, not anytime soon. it was just too many things to ignore and enough that I felt it should be reviewed. I hope they get better - I'd love to have decent, affordable mexican food so close by.

I hate that I'm the first to review this restaurant because it's a new place that I'm positive will make certain improvements very soon. I even PROMISE to go back and I PROMISE TO UPDATE MY REVIEW. Thing is...it's already open to the public. Sites have reviewed it and, in fact, that's what brought my friend and me there last night. First, there's no signage out front to let us know that we were there. OK. This would've been fine but for two things: (a) the street address is misleading (it's on SE 1 Ave which is ALSO Brickell Bay Ave??? or something the like), and (b) when we called to get someone to lead us there, we were promptly hung up on with nothing more than the restatement of "on 1st Ave" which we'd known and mentioned. Second, ...well our server was well-intentioned. That's a bonus. He was enthusiastic but...frazzled. Really frazzled. The broken English was only part of the problem. The fact is that, both of us, Spanish-speakers, couldn't keep up with him. He told us a lot of what sounded like first-timer script recollections of what the owner had wanted the customers to know without stopping to ask us what we knew about "traditional" vs. "authentic" Mexican food. He told us what he liked without telling us what it was or describing the food. He didn't seem to be very knowledgeable about the menu or food items and, really, was very nervous. Again, well-intentioned but, ultimately, poorly equipped to be dealing with our table though it was just us two. Third, let me say the food that we DID eat was SIMPLY DIVINE. However...there was a bit of an issue with the way we got it. I'm not a vegetarian but I am a pescatarian which means that I don't eat meats other than fish or seafood. Normally, I have absolutely no problem finding something to eat at a restaurant. Mexican food, authentic or Tex-Mex is famously vegetarian friendly. Yet, when I asked for vegetarian options, no one (two servers, actually) seemed to be aware what that meant or how it related to their menu. In fact, I was PROMISED by two servers that the bean soup was vegetarian and, when it arrived, there was pork in it. I had my friend taste it and, though he claimed it was DELICIOUS, I obviously couldn't eat it. I also ordered the nopales salad (cactus), partly because I've been dying to taste it and because our server kept telling us how much he liked it, only to find out that they'd run out of nopales. Hell, don't recommend it to me so much, then. At the very least, I'm going back to try this one item. I have been dying to have cactus and it's almost heart-breaking to realize that, it alone, would have earned them an additional star in my book. Again, I hate writing this review now because I think that a little experience with the menu and with service will definitely make a hugely positive impact. Let me state, for the record, that the rajas (a variety of non-spicy peppers) were OUTRAGEOUS. I had them in a taco. Again, a totally vegetarian option. With or without cheese it's delicious. Also, the quesos fundidos with mushrooms was outstanding. Another totally vegetarian option. See? It's not that they're not there, it's that, the way everything was presented, no one was informed of the options. My friend apologized for taking me to a place where I "couldn't eat anything" totally wrongly. There were options for me, but they weren't communicated to us. Note: The owner was on-hand and very helpful. Ultimately, he reversed some charges on items that didn't end up being vegetarian without my having to complain or insinuate that I felt I shouldn't have had to pay for the soup, etc. He asked us to come again and I swore I would. Things to recommend: -Taco with rajas, the tacos are small but priced at $2 each so go with 2. -Queso fundido with champignon mushrooms, eaten like little taco/quesadillas was really good, particularly in combination with the rajas dish. -My friend had a drink that I can't remember the name of--it was like a sweet rice milky juice....SO GOOD. Really good. Started with an "h." If he sees this review, he'll probably name it. Recommended AND (bonus) free refills.

Casual Mexican food spot in Brickell. Not overpriced like Rosa Mexicano or heavy like Taqueria El Mexicano on 8th street. The decor was nice and clean. Food was good. Not the best Mexican I've had but definitely good! Went with another couple and asked for split checks, they ended up putting the two guys together and the two girls on the other check. We then asked just to split the check evenly on two credit cards (since he messed up the split) but that was unsuccessful. He ended up charging $10 more on one card then the other... oh well, still enjoyed the food. :)

Good cheap tacos steps from my apartment? Count me in. The tacos are traditional Mexican style: served open-faced, not greasy with good quality meat that is quite tasty. It reminded me of a hole in the wall in Mexico, cheap and yummy. This isn't some gourmet place or TexMex crap like the other places in the neighborhood. This is a decent alternative to 'Taqueria El Mexicano' in Brickell.

I have to start off by saying that I'm excited that there is finally an affordable Mexican restaurant in Brickell (unlike Rosa Mexicana). Anyway, the food superseded my expectations. At $2 for a Taco al Pastor, you just can't beat it. Unfortunately, service was terrible. They should definitely think about giving you chips and salsa for free with you meal. I think this will evolve into a great place once they realize they have to step up there game in service.

First time there. After a few attempts the place was finally open. Went during lunch hour. The place feels real nice. Service was a bit slow, but nothing that ruined the experience. The food was very good. Felt "real" as they claim to be Real Mexican. I'd definitely go again, and take a few more people. I hope with time they keep improving as it has alot of promise.

Like many other reviews stated, we were the only ones in the restaurant last night at 7:30 PM. Server was friendly but not very bright, starting out by seating us, handing us a menu, and asking us immediately if we were ready to order. Where was the music? Where were the chips to go with the 3 almost empty bottles of salsa on the table? Oh. You have to order them. And pay for them. Queso fundido was really good (probably the highlight of the meal). We both ordered the Carne asada, which arrived and tasted OK, but where were the tortillas? Oh. That's another thing you have to order. And pay for. Please, just raise the prices of the entrees another $2 and bring out the gosh-darn chips and tortillas. Meal was simply average, not worth the 30 minute drive from the beach. I wanted so badly to find a good Mexican restaurant in Miami with good horchata, simple, tasty food... guess I'll have to keep looking.

My friends and I were dining here and my friend got metal in his mouth. The manager had the nerve to accuse us of framing him. I will never eat here again. Very rude and unprofessional, not to mention dangerous!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize.
