My family was hanging out at the Mall of America before our flight back to cali. Mostly everyone speaks Spanish at the mall, some speak English. The food court seemed affordable. We chose to eat here because it looked like they cook their food fresh instead of letting it sit out like the other places nearby. I wanted to eat Puerto Rican or cuban food all week, but didn't get the chance, so I was happy they had some food at this food court. The gentleman who worked there said it was Nicaraguan food. We ordered the lunch specials. I got the beef with rice and beans and fried plantains. It was good! I liked the flavors. I couldn't finish it all, so off it went with me to Miami airport while I waited for my flight. It was smelly at the airport, but tasty. I had to chuck it before I went on the plane before I made everyone nauseous. My dad got the fish, it was too salty for him. One of our meals came with a fried yuca plant, something like potatoes, we weren't too fond of that. Prices were around $7-9 I'd go here again.

Been coming here since I was little. It's gonna a little down hill as well as the mall itself, I would recommend trying another fogata location. The steak used to be very very well seasoned as well as the sauces

Great lunch spot! Nica food is one of my favorites. Give it my personal rating of the three bbb "bueno buenito barato". if dont know what that means then your not from miami, so i recommend to look it up its Spanish. I recommend the queso frito there and the tajadas. I liked the baby churrasco, which really wasn't baby at all it was a nice price of meat with two sides. The meat isn't the best steak I ever had by any means, but for the price it isn't too bad especially during the lunch menu. And of course keep in mind there is the unlimited spicy nica, and chimichurri sauces to enhance everything to the next level. The service there is not perfect every time I go but I still go when I'm in the area just to sit down and get my fogata fix.

One more while on lunch break. The food court at Mall Of The Americas has plenty to choose from. I can't say I have tried them all because it had been more than 7 years since I stepped in to this "land mark" of a mall. My coworkers were all hyped up about La Fogata and the votes were in. I know lunch hour is total madness in this food court but for some reason, this restaurant was half empty. We had no problem sitting and placing our orders in less than 5 minutes. I looked real good through the menu and found plenty but the prices were a bit high for a fast moving, loud ass hell food court. I finally ordered the 8 oz. baby churasco (medium cooked) with yellow rice and fried sweet plantains. The food arrived fairly quick. My baby churasco was nowhere near medium. It was more well done but I only had an hour lunch and sending it back would cost me my hour. The rice was nice and fresh as well as the plantains. The meal plus a diet coke added up to $17.00. I have no problem paying what ever it takes but I would like what I ordered. A medium not well done piece of beef.

On my lunch break at work today I decided to go to the Mall of the Americas food court. I usually don't go to this mall for anything (except maybe the Home Depot across the parking lot), I think everything feels awkward and smells odd. Either way, I've always enjoyed the food from the Chinese spot in the food court. Cheap, fast, ready to eat, good portions, and bourbon chicken. To my horror, the place was closed for renovations (or something to that extent). I looked at the other places. Pizza. Subway. Cuban. I decided to try La Fogata, which I've heard is Fritanga-esque food. I was walking up to the counter and some guy approached me, asking me what I wanted. I asked if they served the same type of carne asada (char-grilled skirt steak) that the usual Fritanga places do. He said yes, and asked if I wanted the small or regular. I asked for the small, which was $7.50. The large was $9.00. It came with two sides. I asked for some Gallo pinto and maduros. Five minutes later, the food came out in a to go box. I was on my way out, when I remembered to ask for their cole slaw style salad. The guy said that could have been one of the sides, or it costs extra. Preposterous. Every other place I've gone to gives the stuff out complementary. I shrugged it off and walked away. When I got to work, I opened the to-go box up, and everything was nicely set up. The meat was wrapped in aluminum foil, which is a nice touch that kept it warm. The rice was fresh, and the maduros were okay. There were only two small strips of meat, and the three maduros were pretty measly. Two small sauces, one spicy, the other was chimichurri-like. The rice was a nice portion, for one person, so don't think about sharing this with anyone. If anything, maybe the 'large' portion brings more food in general. So, overall the food was hot and fresh. No complimentary salad is a big let down, considering that you're paying the same you would at any other place. For this reason only, I probably won't come back here, and I'll stick to the Fritanga on Fountainbleu.
