We are fans of Samurai and Benihana, so why not try Kobe? We frequently go to Dolphin Mall to meet friends (usually tourists from overseas), thus one night we decided to try it out. Unfortunately if you are used to Samurai and Benihana you will notice that Kobe is not exactly the same "thing". The selection is smaller, portions are not that generous, and overall the spices and taste is not up to par. We had good service and in the end it was a fun experience (we had kids with us), but a bit on the expensive side for what you get. Cheers!

Great lunch specials with gigantic portions, but definitely not the place to come if you're really hungry, want to eat right away or don't have all the time in the world. Spent an hour here for lunch the other day when it was pretty empty. Mostly a lot of waiting around. Staff appeared to be moving at snails speed. My husband and I came in starving, and to our dismay, we had to wait until there were enough people seated at our hibachi table before they began cooking our food, which took quite some time in itself. On top of that, for some reason, we were the last people to actually get our food on our plates. We had to sit there in starvation, while we watched everyone else, who arrived much later than us, eat first. I guess it's to be expected at what I assume to be a touristy location such as this one. Overall, not a terrible experience, but far from a great one, as well.

Bad service & food... Never will go back there and I'll suggest you the same... You could find the same food in the mall food court for half price. I ordered " avocado tuna tartar" from lunch menu and it was a paste tuna extremely spicy, nothing like what the menu said. Then the server was lazy with lack of costumer service skills. Told him politely to take the plate back to the kitchen and ask chefs if they could chop some tuna and make it a salad, he answered with attitude "we don't serve that here, this is the only way. You can mix it with your entree salad". Let that go and kept waiting for the food that it was not very good when it got to the table, portions were small for the price. Then at the end, the check had an 18% tip included ( party of two ) The server "Ismael" knew that he would get paid for his bad service so no problem, too bad for him because I usually leave 25%

A poor man's Samurai, only it wouldn't be affordable for said poor man. I've visited this location twice and also tried the Orlando location about ten years ago. Believe it or not, nothing has changed since then. In short, they do a good job of cooking the steak to your desired doneness, but it could benefit from a little more seasoning. The ginger steak sauce is the same as Samurai, but the shrimp sauce is vastly inferior. Lastly, the fried rice could also use a little more flavor(I think the secret ingredient at Samurai is their garlic butter). I'd give it a solid 3 stars since we also had a sushi roll that was pretty tasty.

This hibachi restaurant was surprisingly delicious and delightful to my palate. I went during lunch hours 11:30 am - 3:00pm. Prices are very good and quite inexpensive for such a sophisticated dinner. The hostess guided us to our table immediately, and our waitress took our drink and food order within minutes of sitting. The attention was great! We didn't have to wait long before they refilled our cups. I ordered the Hibachi Sirloin Steak, Fried rice and lunch also includes mushroom soup and salad and you also have the choice of choosing between veggies or noodles. My boyfriend ordered the churrasco and chicken combo, which was absolutely fulfilling and required a to go box. The sauces and fried rice are very similar to Samurai. Which is a plus for me, since I really enjoy that restaurant. Overall, I gave this place 4 stars. I personally love great food and precise attention, and I think this restaurant contained both.

Service sucks! There were only 2 tables outside with customers and it took the waiter almost 25 min before coming to take our order AFTER we told him we were ready to order. I had a Philadelphia roll and fried rice. The rice was not fresh and the food was just ok. They also automatically put gratuity on the check for lunch and it was more than I would have liked to leave

My Husband and I are torn about this rating, we like the show put on at the hibachi grill, but its so expensive for what you get. I feel that anything ordered at the Hibachi can be made at home, however the sushi roll's are decently made. Don't forget to wash it done with some warm Sake.

A group of us came here to enjoy some Hibachi. Our chef and waiter for the evening were very nice and made sure that everything was cooked to order. Food I upgraded my steak and accompanied it with chicken and shrimp. They cooked the fried rice and vegetables and then served it on my plate. I was kinda bummed because it was then I realized that my rice and veggies would get cold by the time the chef finished cooking the protein. I really enjoy serving myself all the food on my plate so that I could smother that amazing sauce all over. The chicken was kinda bland and rubbery but the shrimp and steak were amazing.

There is not many options for Asian food in Miami. Kobe was a great change. We had probably the best Japanese Steak House Chef I have seen. Ask for Jeff, he has all the tricks! That is saying a lot since I go to many of them. The atmosphere was classy and nice in an food court in the mall. The service was quick and nice. And the food was great! I love the ginger sauce that comes with the hibachi the best! Highly recommended! This is not a part of the Kobe chain Japanese Steakhouses.

One of the worst place to eat japanese food... this kind of restaurant is for people who eat once and never come back... ugly, expensive, bad attention, dissapointed.... i think that the sushi feom food court has better quality and taste that this one.... definitly the WORST!!!

I went last night for a girls night dinner. We were sited immediately at a hibachi table with two other couples. They took our drink and dinner order quickly. Drinks were served right away, but we waited at least 15-20 mins for a chef to start cooking for us. It appeared that there were only 2 chefs available and they were busy with two other tables. We were waiting for them to finish so one could come to our table. It's a good thing that the six of us strangers got to talking and knowing each other because we actually ended laughing a lot and having a blast! This has never happened before as usually everyone just keeps to themselves. Chef Roger finally appeared and he he hilarious! He did a presentation and make great jokes throughout his cooking. It wasn't the same old jokes and script that some Chefs keep repeating. We had the teriyaki chicken, filet might and fried rice. Everything tasted great. The dressing on the salad is so yummy! Everytime we go shopping at Dolphin Mall we always come to Kobe, as its a nice treat and you get a good amount of food, plus a show!! Skip the food court. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 just because of the long wait for our Chef to start cooking. Skip the food court. You can get food court crap at any mall. Cheesecake Factory always has a 45 minute wait for a table. We walked out of Johnny Rockets last year when we saw 3 roaches running along tables and the counter.

Great food! Food show is awesome by the chef Wing! Definitely recommend. Kids will enjoy the show

This place was whatever. It had the feel of cubanized sushi, if there is such a thing. There was not an asian person in site, which i found that weird, considering its a sushi place. Anyway, the service was just as bad as the food and it was way overpriced. They should change their name to, "Shitty Sushi and Steakhouse." First and last.

This place was amazing and great service. Hibachi chef was funny and it was not awkward at all. The miso soup and the salad was delightful and fresh. If i had any problem, the manager/owners were always there to help. It looked like a family business and Even though it is food chain. The rate for the sushi and hibachi is the standard rate for Kobes all over the US. I love Kobe Food and Service!!! Please order the SUPER dragon roll.

I had been told this place sucks but wow that was an understatement. Ended up here because my 10yr old brother wanted asian food and he really likes benihanna so i though itd be the same. Well it sucked. The service was slow yet it wasnt even packed compare to every other restaurant in that area. We order the shrimp tempura roll and it fell apart. the fried rice sucked. Before i could say it sucked my 10yr old brought it up first, he said it was a weird attempt at fried rice, off colored white rice pretty much. I had the hibachi calamari. My veggies were pretty much raw. The soup tasted like cup noodle flavored water.. the salad was alright? It had a white sauce with ginger flavour on it. Will never go back here ever.

I wish I could give this 0 stars. We visited on a Saturday night while vacationing in the area. We were seated right away at a hibachi. Later, another group was seated at the same hibachi. THE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. The prices are high. The food Is mediocre. Our hibachi chef ignored us all night and basically only conversed with the other group and only in Spanish. I understood the conversation, but my friend didn't speak Spanish. The chef barely looked over at us to engage us in the experience. Our drinks were brought out wrong and then the bartender had a visible attitude when it was sent back. The manager wasn't very friendly nor open to address our concerns, but he begrudgingly offered us a 15% discount on our meal and removed the 18% automatic gratuity. I would never come back. AVOID this place!!!

It is not good. The service is fine but the food is not that good. We ordered fried rice, too much soy sauce and salt.

I was so excited to see a Japanese restaurant at the mall entrance. However, I got quite disappointed. Expensive lunch bento!! The beef was over cooked and dry! The Udon wasn't tender and soup pretty MSG. I was so surprised that the bill added 18% gratuity on it. I asked the waiter was it by-law (legal??) n he firmly said "Yes" by-law in this mall!!

  • Debbie A.

I don't know why this place doesn't have better reviews. I went today for the first time and had hibachi. The food tasted just like Samurai. Even their pink sauce was delish. I had the combo filet mignon with shrimp and fried rice. The filet was very tender and made to order. The salad was fresh and yummy. The soup was very good as well. Service was good as well. I'd definitely go again.

BULL DOG ROLL! omg best roll I've had in Miami. Has the perfect amount of crunch, sweet, and savory flavors. Tuna tataki was okay not fresh fresh tasted fishy, I have had better. We came here and ate at the bar didn't do the hibachi but one day maybe. They are expensive here though but definitely worth it to get the bull dog roll and I believe it is less than 10$ for the roll.

Very good place, very fun. I love the Chef's interaction and tricks, and they're funny too. The food is very good and they serve a lot. Also, the Choya plum wine is soooo good, you should absolutely try the bottle.

My boyfriend and I went here on a date and sat at the Hibachi table, and were VERY disappointed by both the quality of service and food. This place is definitely more of a quantity over quality type restaurant. That goes without mentioning that our Hibachi chef was rude and continuously kept poking fun at me for having an allergy, right after he decided to inform the table that he was thrilled his job was almost over and he couldn't wait to get out of there. His sense of humor was lacking, and he seemed like he was just trying to impress the younger crowd sitting at the table. At the end of the meal when my boyfriend finally pulled aside management and told them about our chef's jokes about my allergy, they were very kind and gave us complimentary tea to make up for it. Unfortunately, as someone who is usually not a complainer, I can safely say that I will DEFINITELY not be returning to this restaurant.

The WORST experience ever. My friend and I visited this location on a Monday night at 9 pm. It wasn't busy at all and we were seated as soon as we entered. Our waitress took forever to get our drinks and food order and we waited about half an hour until the chef showed up. Everything just took forever and our chef didn't even talk to us. I usually like Kobe's food but the dragon roll that I ordered from here wasn't very good and neither was the hibachi chicken. The service just isn't good and this isn't a cheap restaurant. I was upset that 18 percent gratuity is included in the bill. I even read all these comments before attending and still decided to go. That was my mistake obviously. Thumbs down.

The same thing can be said about Kobe that can be said about the Japan nuclear power plant... it's a disaster! This place is expensive and not hey it's worth it expensive, more like why is the place so expensive?!?! The average dinner will run you about $70 and you will leave feeling cheated. The steak's are sub par thinly slices ghost. The location is a horrible designers joke of Japan and the food is bland and un exciting. The Hibachi chefs do their best to distract from the ingredients but you will notice if your careful. You get large quantities of cheap veggies onions, carrots and broccoli. The rice is parboiled and missing the chicken from that more well known establishment. The "yumyum" sauce was sweet in a bad, clawing way. The sushi is expensive, airport sushi expensive. I firmly believe if you automatically put an 18% gratuity your waiters don't deserve it. How many of you would contest it even if you didn't receive great service? Go to samurai its 100% times better and you get value for your money.

  • 'Danny S.

In my opinion, the hibachi in this place is as good, if not better then samurai, they actually put a nice fire show with the hibachi (samurai, and benihana don't have fire at all when they cook), its conveniently located inside dolphin mall, (However, theres never reception inside this place??), The Yum-Yum sauce is AMAZING, (similar to the pink sauce at Samurai). great service, the chefs are always funny. Drinks a bit over priced (I guess thats dolphin mall prices for you tho??) Have never tried the sushi here so I cant say anything about it.

    (4)
  • Myriam V.

I will say the sushi was delicious as well as the quantity. Be prepared for the prize though, the place is not as nice as they charge for the food. Service was really good. Prices should come down and maybe more people will eat here at lunch time, it was pretty empty when I was here

visited Kobe last night with the hubby and friends, I was craving some sushi while they wanted either steak or chicken. Well, I decided to order the shrimp tempura roll and the avocado roll. My husband had the filet mignon, it came with soup, salad and steamed white rice. My friends had the chicken and shrimp entree. My sushi rolls looked like mini-rolls, but since I really don't eat that much it was ok for me, anyone else would have to at least order 4 different ones. According to my hubby and friends, their food was good. A lit bit overpriced for what it is. Service was ok

I've been in & out of dolphin mall countless times, and have never seen this place. Anyways I came here with a friend, it was either Asian food or our typical traditional latin food. The entrance of the restaurant looks pretty good, we came to dine here around 7:00pm I believe... As soon as we went inside .... we weren't greeted by anyone we just stood there wondering if we could sit ourselves or we should wait. After about 5 minutes of being stared at by what I would assume was a "hostess" she finally got up from her chair and attended us. The inside of the restaurant looks ok, I wasn't really to impressed to be honest with you, it had like a dull and boring feeling but yea... so our server came practically no introduction just showed up to our table and literally asked us "what do you want". You figure they will tell us the daily specials and etc this was our first time here, so we did tell him this was our first time what would he recommend, practically sorry to say this but the GUY SUCKED LITERALLY. I took pictures of the sushi we ordered, the food was brought to us pretty quickly, you could see the cooks btw in the restaurant make your sushi and cook right in-front of you. The food was good, it tasted really good .. that is the only thing i don't have anything to complain about. The pricing is reasonable. Over all ladies and gentleman, I would recommend this place. It could be better if the service wasn't really so crappy. But other than that the food was great.

My husband and I visited this restaurant assuming it was like the Kobe's in Orlando. It has the same logo, but beware, because it is nothing like the originals. This teppanyaki is horribly over-priced, the food selection is minute and the portions are even smaller. For over $80 for two, ordering frugally, this is the worst teppanyaki experience and most expensive I have ever had. If you are in the Orlando area, you MUST try one of the original Kobe Japanese Steakhouses. If in Miami, Benihana's or Samurai will do, but still not as good as the Orlando counterparts.

18% gratuity the service sucks because they know they are getting tip regardless what happen to earning it No refills doin good to get your order taken

I've been here 5 times and it has gotten better each time. When they first opened up I gave it a try and walked away unimpressed and hungry. My most recent visit was far different not only had the show improved but so did the food. Hibachi chicken fried rice even the shrimp temura were cooked extremely well and now they offer more food all plusses with me. I did not pay for my most recent visit but I will stop in this week and comment on the price. They do light the table on fire which is cool (Benihana does not do that for insurance reasons) it does frighten my nieces and nephews so let your cook know to not do it.

3.5 Stars Here's the deal.... 5 stars for the performance, 2 stars for the food. My all time favorite place to eat is Samurai (A japanese Hibachi place) So, naturally I spent the night comparing every aspect of the meal to Samurai. The food was reminiscent of a cheap Japanese hibachi fast food joint. There was way too much mayo in the ginger dressing. The fried rice needed a healthy dose of soy sauce. The meat and veggies needed some more garlic butter and less lemon. The shrimp sauce was overly sweetened and tasteless. However, the show kicked ass! Our server Jeff was top notch. He spent the entire night cracking hilarious jokes and putting on a killer performance. There was some vegetable golfing, self-portraits using vegetables, lots of fire, knife tossing, volcanos....but let me not spoil all the surprises. I know the other servers were on the same level because I saw a lot of this going on at other tables. It was by far the best show that I ever experienced at a hibachi grill. My suggestion to you, Kobe: lower your prices (you're not THAT good), and work on the recipe for the shrimp sauce and seasoning.

I've eaten here everytime I'm in Miami and I always enjoy their food. I always ask for Jeff or Sammy because they're probably the best 2 chefs there. The quality and taste is probably the best I've had for a Hibachi restaurant in Miami. The sushi is average for me. The service is above average and somewhat accommodating. Overall a great place to go if you're on a date or in a group. The only complaint I have is the parking! It's not Kobe's fault though, they're located in Dolphin Mall which appears to be the rendezvous point for everyone and their mommas, especially on the weekends. If you can get past the parking then this place is definitely worth going.

  • Stephany V.

i love the sushi in this place, but the service is horrible, nad that sucks, because the food is expensive, so you are paying just for the food not for the service. the fire shows are nice buuut they are so fast also i think that becasuse they do that all the time, i guess that are bored. i give it 4 stars becasue i really like the rolls that they made

    (4)
  • PJ B.

This place was average and overpriced for the quality of the food. The salad was not fresh, tasted as if it had been prepared earlier in the day and shoved into the refrigerator. Above all, the service was terrible and the waiter was trying to be slick. I pointed and he confirmed my steak and chicken dinner and ended up ordering and charging me for the most expensive steak and chicken dish on the menu. Additionally, he tried to double charge me for 2 glasses of wine and automatically tagged the ticket with 18% gratuity for my party of two. With all of the Japanese restaurants around, it will be a pretty chilly day in hell before I go back to Kobe's.

We ended up here after an intense workout and a NEED for Sushi. Who knew that on a Saturday at 4PM all of my favorites in Doral wouldn't be open? I had to have sushi and we remembered that this restaurant has it. We headed over happily. We have noticed in the past that this restaurant always seems empty even when the mall is HOPPING. That was sign number one that I should have sat outside Sushi Joe and waited until someone took pity on me and opened. The place was 90% empty. The server should have been all over us but I guess as they automatically charge you the tip, the servers have the luxury of standing there and hanging out while we drink up all our tea and have to seek them out for refills. We ordered a sushi plate ($14 for a california roll and 6 pieces of sushi), a yellow tail roll ($5.50), a volcano roll ($8.50) and two miso soups. The miso soup was good, as I was really hungry anything would have tasted like heaven at that moment, but again, its Miso soup, you would have to really suck to mess that up. The sushi platter was a JOKE.. the california roll had BARELY any rice on it, there were patches all over it where you could see the seaweed under it. Then they give us as part of the 6 pieces of sashimi, one that was egg. REALLY??? C'mon. So it was cheap egg, shrimp that tasted so bad I had to spit it out, a few pieces of fish and a really small california roll. How is it that I am sitting here wondering.. get this... why the FILLERS are so scarce???? SERIOUSLY its rice man!!! GIVE ME more rice, I swear I never thought I would say "give me the fillers" but here they really have to rethink the rice issue. The rice under the sushi was the size of my thumbnail and DON'T give me that stupid excuse of food being scarce. You are a restaurant... you can add shaved carrots as a garnish/side or whatever, or a salad. The yellow tail roll was for Liliputians. It was ridiculously tiny, and the volcano roll was OK.. just OK. Not great. Again, very LITTLE of what should be inside, you had to really search in the tiny rolls to see what was in there, and one layer of rice grains. Skip this place. We spent $50 to end up angry and REALLY HUNGRY!!! Forget it, the quality sucks, service sucks, and is really over priced. In Doral go to Sushi Joe's or Miyako.

This was a mistake. Pros - Sushi was fresh and tasty, Beer was cold. Cons - Very expensive, and my order was overcooked and tough, the place was very noisy. Waiter forgot about us twice. Won't do it again. Second star is for the sushi.

    (2)
  • Derek W.

The issue here is that is not owned by Japanese people. The bias is in every meal here. :( The grill food is OK, but the sushi (specially the rice) is definitely not Japanese.

    (2)
  • Joshua T.

This restaraunt is a step down from Benihana or Samauri. You can clearly taste it in the food, poor quality of rice for instance. Also the plates, cups, and silver compared to benihana are crap. Also the portion control is off a big piece of steak rather then benihana where your portion is hand picked for your order. But they did have a chef that did great tricks. But other then that your paying alot for mediocre crap. Benihana is much better at least your getting your moneys worth, especially the food quality.

    (1)
  • Naty K.

This place is just as good as Benihana, for a much lower price. Those of you who complained about it probably got a crappy chef who didn't season the food properly, but you can get 3 different entrees for less than $30, and in Benihana you will only get 2 for that price if you're lucky. Also unlike Benihana, they do a show on the hibachi grill, where they light fires, do onion volcanos, and other tricks, and they have the traditional Japanese drummers going around the restaurant and the outside of the mall. Benihana used to be good but they have taken their clientele for granted and now fail to do any shows, provide good service, and they keep increasing their prices. Their wait times are awful as well. If you go to Kobe, ask for Jeff, he's the best chef, makes jokes, and will make you and your family feel at home.

the japanese chef cooked in front of us on the iron table....really nice show, lots of flames...funny guy too ...we ordered rice, chicken beef ,eggs, shrimp, calamri with some other stuff...it was a mix of fried rice I guess??......either way the final product was AMAZING!!!! I don't really know what sauce they put in it...but the sucker was good!!!!! will definitely come back...but gotta save up some money cause it's not a cheap place...

The chef was great. But service was horrible. The chef was telling the waiter to bring refills on drinks. The charge my credit card was about 4 times. The manager did not want to help. The waiter argued that he charged my card so many times when I saw him do it. The waiters were standing around. Food was okay. I do not recommend this place at all. NOt many people at all. the place looks closed

Have been here many times and it always impresses me. The ambiance inside is very friendly and the food is amazing. The service and the food is really amazing. Sushi is one of my favorite things to eat! Everyone should try the Everglades roll, trust me you won't be disappointed. Sushi chefs are funny and extremely nice. They always make my sushi special!

  • Yo K.

Good place if you are doing the hibachi, the food is delicious, you will not get over excited waitressing here, it's all very demure...if your chef is not sick of the tricks, you will get a great show....if he is in a hurry to get to the other hibachi table, your show may be lackluster and he may just leave the teriyaki off your chicken.....LOL, otherwise, the stuff coming out of the hibachi is to die for and so tasty. Skip the sushi, I did not think it was the greatest, go to a local sushi bar instead...

went to for lunch with a friend..ordred udon and the noodle was overcooked..it seems the noodle was leftover from last night and it was so soaked ..the price is relatively hight for the food. in the end , i was surprised by pre-added 20% gratuity at the bill and remember it is for a mongday lunch for 2 people... will never go again.

o-m-g I can't believe it, but they really did change things up a bit! I ate there last monday just on a whim. I knew it sucked, but the hell with it I thought, I'll just order something simple. Something they can't mess up. I was in for a surprise. They changed the menu! A whoolle lot more rolls. Yummy ones too. One of them actually called the Yum Yum roll. And yes, it lived up to it's name. It was so good I gave it yet another try on Saturday. I decided this time I'll have a real big meal. I tried the dynamite roll and had some drinks. A mojito and a zombie. Both of which were excellent. I was there with two other people which were also impressed. There's no weird smell, the icecream i ordered had no weird taste, the service was verrrrry quick and excellent. The seemed to have hired all asian looking waiters which now wear kimonos (the waiters were the least of their problem. i don't see why they had to change the staff around) but anyhow this was a real turn around from my previous experiences. Real upgrade!

I wen to a Kobe house in Orlando and it was phenomenal, so when I saw that they open one at the dolphin mall i was so exited to have another amazing meal. I went for my birthday with a couple of friends, and it was awful, we had a Hibachi combo, the steak was tough, the rice was terrible, the only thing i liked was the salad dressing. then talking to the cook I found out that this place is not from the same chain, from the one in Orlando, which totally made sense. they do bring you a cake that taste horrible and they take your picture( not a good memory). This place totally ruined my b-day. What is the worst that could happen on your special day... ? To have some really bad Chinese food.

Miso soup is too salty. Sashimi not......fresh. fried pork over fried. Service is bad. Only water is fine. Plus, while you pay the check, they will just charge you a high percentage tip in advance.

I went to Kobe's for the first time a few months ago with two friends. I had been to a hibachi restaurant only once and I had been aching to go to one again so this place seemed like the right choice when my friends and I couldn't decide on a place to eat at Dolphin Mall. If my memory serves me right, it was a Friday night, but it wasn't too crowded at all. My friends and I were seated promptly at a hibachi table next to four strangers and then our server arrived. He quickly took our drink and food order and right after came the chef. I didn't find him very entertaining, he didn't look like he was trying at all and his jokes weren't very funny. However, the food was good although I felt the portions were a bit small. I have no complaints about the service but I do remember seeing my server chatting with the bartender a few times which many might not find professional. Overall, I was satisfied with my steak dinner, it was cooked to order and tasty. The negatives of my experience with this place were the chef's lack of interest and the price, $45 for one person is a bit too much.
