I'm always skeptical of upscale/upscale casual Italian restaurants because it's always a gamble. In many cases, either the portions or the flavor do not justify the hefty price tag (let's be honest, pasta generally has an enormous profit margin, so $25 worth better be delicious and filling). In the case of Il Forno, it was more than worth the price. We were celebrating our friend's birthday with a little laser tag down the road and the birthday boy had a hankering for some Italian. A quick Google inquiry led me here and within 45 seconds we had a table for 6 at 8 pm on a Saturday; needless to say, I was a little worried at how open their availability was, but my fear was soon laid to rest. So of course, we rolled into Il Forno in our finest sweats and running shoes being the classy folks we are. Despite some side-eyes from other customers (who were no doubt jelly about my sexy red pumas), the hostesses were very friendly and the service was on point. Our water glasses were consistently full and the table was superbly cleared, crumbed, and mise en place'd (is there a past tense way to say that? I have no idea). My wife and I both had risotto - hers with mushrooms and truffle oil, mine with squid ink and seafood. Both dishes were perfectly al dente and ran a little over $20 and it was worth every penny. Everybody at our table had a good sized portion (except for the poor sap who ordered an appetizer as an entrée... rookie mistake) and every dish was delicious. To be honest, the food prices are extremely reasonable for the quality and quantity. Didn't look through the wine menu, but wouldn't be surprised to find some good deals as far as the typical 5 bajillion percent restaurant markup is concerned. Bottom line: if you're in Doral and want some awesomely delicious & authentic Italian, this is your place! (Even if you're still in running shorts ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

I don't care how good the food is they took 8 minutes for the waiter to come ask us what we wanted to drink. I asked for water and they brought us sparkling water. I ordered wine and a coca cola and they brought it when ever they felt like it. I ordered fettuccine with shrimp they brought it with no shrimp. I asked for a second coca cola and they never brought it. The waiter took for ever to bring us everything, everything! This place is ridiculous. I have never had such bad service. There was nothing amazing or great about this place. Ps: they didn't bring the coca cola but they charged me for it.

It's Miami Spice month and this was my first place to try as it's near my job plus I love Italian. I chose the garlic shrimp appetizer, tortellini for my entree, and Nutella dessert. The appetizer and entree were delicious and the dessert was different. I'm have a big sweet tooth but this one was just not my type. My friend chose the tiramisu dessert and just taste like tiramisu, nothing special. I asked the waiter which he recommended from the entrees and said the tortellini, he was right! I was full but just couldn't leave food behind because it was so good! If you're in the area, give this place a try. The service was great and staff are friendly.

BEST food in the whole WORLD!! The service is usually pretty good, indoor and outdoor seating, bar, booth and regular tables... Soooo much to talk about! I have been coming here for 5,6, maybe 7 years and I still love this place so much. Not too pricey or too cheap. (depends what you order). You should really come here!! I wish I lived here! Soooo delish

Absolutely awesome meal. Great ambiance, excellent service. Started off with the octopus carpaccio, followed by the gnocchi and finished off with the apple crisp dessert I would highly recommend this place to anyone .

I've come here several times over the last few years, and it never disappoints. Whether you go to enjoy a romantic dinner or celebrate an event, the atmosphere is always just right. In terms of antipasti, the portobello mushroom is to die for, and for your entree I recommend the lasagna, gnocchi or fettuccine carbonara. Their wine list is pretty exhaustive and separated by region and variety. I will definitely keep coming back!

This place was incredibly perfect. I used to lunch in there twice a week. Lunch specials were really delicious and full meal, however started to hear that they run out of at least one of that special lunch meals even though not yet 1:00pm and it is still attached to the menu. For old times sake I started to go there once every 2-3 months hoping to see improvement.

Usually great quality and really nice restaurant. A bit pricey for lunch but a great splurge every once in a while! Had the squash/pumpkin ravioli. Awesome!!! Last time we went the lasagna was hot on the edges and cold and hard in the middle. I think they need to step up their game.

Great Italian in the middle of no-where Doral. Who would think a great Italian place would be across from MIA's radar tower? Fancy looking building façade with valet. I met an old friend on a weekday early evening around 630pm. My friend said it gets packed. It remained quiet this night. Plenty of wait staff etc. to help. Fancy wine cellar enclosed in glass with a ladder. Ooh, la-la. Whatever, I don't like wine. I tested the waters with the chicken parmesan. While I was not impressed, and would not get out my best pen to "write home about", it was good for sure. There was not anything to remark about with anything really. We got a thing of bread before the meal and there was oil on the table. Otherwise, no butter. Also, it was just oil. No seasonings. The bread was more like Pita which was odd, but tasty. No soup or salad were offered for the meal. I am sure you could get it but most Italian places come with it. The atmosphere was nice and it was quiet. It looked like there was a very nice secluded patio area. We left just as live music was setting up. If you are in the area of about 15 minutes away, stop in. Don't drive too far though. You'll forget about the place in a few months.

Im not in Doral that much, but when I am, I always try to get in a good lunch. I was meeting a friend over in the Telefonica building, and long story short, it was lunch time and we were on our way. As I headed east on 25th street, I remembered seeing this restaurant many times. Truth be told, we were on our way to h00ters, because who can resist those buffalo shrimpers, but when I saw this place, I just pulled right in. They have complimentary valet parking, due to the small and somewhat tight parking lot, so we parked and headed in. I don't know if you ever been to Bruschetta in Doral (which is closed now), but this place has the same kinda vibe. Its looks like it can be fancy, but has a casual lunch setting. Im not talking flip-flop and shorts, but you can get by with jeans and a nice shirt. We sat right away, as we seem to have beaten the lunch crowd. I had a feeling it was going to be packed soon. I took one glance at the menu/appetizers, and knew I was going to order a Frito Misto. Fried calamari, shrimp, fish, scallops and zucchini, it was perfect. Lightly breaded, perfectly fried. I could have left happy. For lunch, I ordered the Linguine Integrale alla Primavera, which in English means, whole wheat pasta with mixed veggies, mushrooms, onion, garlic and fresh tomato sauce. It was perfect. Exactly what I needed. The waiter provided fresh parmesan cheese, and black pepper, I was in heaven. My friends ordered the Chef Creation, which is basically something the Chef makes, and you just have to eat it. You get your choice of protein, but otherwise are at the mercy of his mind. They both ordered Chicken, and the dish looked pretty good. Nice asparagus, creamy sauce, no complaints from them. Overall I was very satisfied with this place. Also reminded me of Basilico right up the road, which I would have also considered, but the traffic was too heavy this day. If you are in the area, I would definitely give this place a try. Also, by the time we got our entrees, every table in this place was filled, so I would plan on getting there early to beat the lunch crowd, and for dinner, YMMV. Solid 4 stars for food. Solid 4 stars for service. I will visit again, when I am in the area.

This is a fancy Italian restaurant with high class treatment. It;s big open space makes you feel you're in the living room of a castle, but yet comfy like your home. The atmosphere is just right for a family or romantic dinner. The service is spectacularly on point. Well trained waiters and bilingual too. The food is as fresh as the bread it's self. Warm, tasty, delicious and if you add the desert, devouring! I've enjoyed both visits and will return. Then again, this experience was very well enjoyed because of who I was with :) The Miami Spice Menu came out to $30. And very tasteful options!

We wanted an Italian restaurant to have lunch with out-of- town guests. Our party of four was greeted by a friendly staff, seated and brought drinks pretty quickly. The food was very good and tasty, gnocci was delicious and their risotto frutti di mare was great. My husband ordered antipasto which was really good. The food took a little bit too long to be served though. Desserts are a little overpriced based on the serving size. Ambiance and decor are very nice and pleasant. I was not blowned away by it but It was a good meal.

Ok where to begin? From the moment you drive in this place is a complete disaster. The valet has cars parked all over the place, the only move he has left is to park cars on top of each other. The parking situation is a mess and chaotic. Luckily it is free and my car left without a dent or scratch. On to the subpar lunch experience. My co workers and I are sat quickly because we called ahead, so that's good. Then the fun started. We order our drinks mostly water, a soda and a cocktail (every office has the one person) 10 minutes later everyone has water but soda and cocktail are nowhere to be found. Finally about another 5-10 min pass and cocktail arrives. So that's the drink order problem. The menu is on the pricey side for what the restaurant has to offer. They do offer a executive lunch for $15 which includes a soup or salad. So I went with the corvina lunch special. They clearly tell you on the menu you cannot change anything from the dish so you have to get veggies and potatoes. I'm not a fan of menus which tell me the consumer what I can and can't ask for but oh well. The soup was a tomato soup which took way too long to be brought out and arrived room temperature. The flavor wasn't bad but nothing memorable. Then, the main dish arrives it's probably the saltiest piece of fish I have ever had. In fact the entire dish was way over salted. I was so glad I ordered the special and didn't go with a full price dish. I've had better meals catered from quinces. The service was incredibly slow. The staff seemed very overwhelmed and for the amount of staff present this shouldn't of been the case. The meal lasted over two hours. My water was barely ever refilled. Not once did anyone check up on our meal to see how we were doing. I asked for pepper it never arrived. Bottom line for the cost and quality, you are better off going to Sabores down the street or Divieto. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Awful from start to finish.

I've been to Il Forno twice (May and July 2015), and experienced great food and service and food both times. It's great to have more authentic Italian meal, and I'm not sure why one would go to nearby Americanized chains like Macaroni Grill or Carrabba's with Il Forno situated right in the heart of Doral. I had the Penne with Italian Sausage which was great - very flavorful.

Very nice place. They have live music wed to sat. I tried the cesar salad with chicken and its very good. Ambience is nice. Wine selection seems wide. Would love to try more dishes.

I must say WOW!!!! By far the best meal I have eaten thus far. Let me start off by saying Luis our waiter was exceptional, he was very attentive and helped us with our decision on our meals. The ambiance was so great, we came on a Friday night where there was live music. The food was so delicious I couldn't get enough of it - I ordered a medium skirt steak that came with homemade French fries ( to die for ), my boyfriend had tortellini which as well was so yummy!!!! We expected our bill to be on the expensive side but it actually not that bad. If you're planning on checking this place out do it!!! You won't regret it ! So delicious and such a GREAT ambiance.

Located in an industrial part of Doral this place sticks out like a sore thumb! Always saw it, never tried it - until now. Mandatory valet parking, which is fine. But the option should be given. Great looking place inside. The decor is rustic mixed with classy. The outside portion is airconditioned optional (smart move!) With a big TV to watch games. Now for food: Appetizer: Burrata & Prosciutto. The portion is large so recommend to share. The Burrata (type of cheese) is simply delicious and compliments well with the prosciutto. Wine: #171 Chianti Santa Cristo, priced at $35.00 really good! Food: Risotto Nero - Black Ink Risotto with an array of seafood (clams, squid, the works). Ravioli Pollo Tartufato. Yes, I ordered chicken ravioli, but I was so happy I did. Perfect portion of ravioli swimming in a mushroom and wine sauce. Dessert: Crepe di Nutella (heaven) and Tiramisu. Very very good! Finished it off with a cappucino. Overall the place is really good. Definitely return.

2nd favorite Italian in Doral after Basilico. We like the place because of their full bar and wine list. Their pastas and veal dishes are well prepared and tasty. The octopus carapaccio is a must. Branzino baked in seasalt is a very tasty. One bad experience though with a bar tender, the scotch on-the-rock looked too small and I brought it to her attention, she simply took my scotch emptied it in a measuring cup and poured it back in the glass without saying a word, turned her back on us, walked away, as if she proved a point.

I have been here several times and the food is AMAZING. You can't go wrong with a single dish here. If I had to recommend something, it would definitely be the pear pasta, you won't be disappointed.

So this is a restaurant in Doral that serves Italian food & offers a scenic view of a lake and weeds. Yup, I think that pretty much nails it. The restaurant has valet, & it almost seems like there is no option for not parking valet because every space available is reserved for valet. You're brought out a pita bread (yup, pita at an Italian restaurant). The meal was halfway decent, and what I mean by that is you probably won't get food poisoning. We ordered the spaghetti pomodoro (which you really can't mess that up), my friend ordered a pumpkin ravioli and left hungry, and her fiancee ordered linguine with clams. We ate it, with no real reaction. The prices are typical of any restaurant in Doral that thinks its a superior establishment. Oh, and the service. I guess the international sign of closed menus and completely inhaling the pita bread was enough of a sign to our waiter that we were hungry. We were under the impression that they were hand rolling our noodles with how long it took to get our food. And even after dessert, no plates on our table, we sat around waiting for our check, while 3 of the waiters chatted it up 4 feet from our table. Basically, if I'm ever in Doral and can't leave because the city has been quarantined off, and I'm also craving Italian at that very moment....i'll go to publix and make some myself.

The food is good and the service awesome. And I love the live music. The people is really nice at the restaurant and nice decoration. Try the Crab and Cheese Appetizers Highly Recommended and I would definitely come back. -1 one star cuz the food was just good, but hey come and judge by yourself

They removed the pumpkin ravioli from the menu!! I still have yet to have a negative experience here and all the food has been awesome, but I have to knock a star in protest because that ravioli really was THAT good! What are you guys thinking?!?!

Absolutely wonderful experience for lunch on Easter Sunday at It Forno. We were celebrating my mom's birthday as well on this occasion and couldn't have asked for a better place near their home in Doral. We started with the bruschetta and ordered the chicken ravioli, the penne with shrimp and the wheat linguini. Everything was delicious and came out really hot off the kitchen. Our server was not the best but the owner kept coming by and checking on us. When we told him it was my mom's birthday, and that we would like to order the cheesecake for dessert, he immediately went back to get it and then brought us some prosseco to toast. He truly made the experience even better than the food had already made it. We will be definitely coming back!

Menu not that good. Limited choices mainly contain sea food. Bread is like pita bread. My ribeye was excellent. Decor did not look Italian. Service not bad.

Fantastic experience of food and service. Will definetely come back again. The place is very upscale and so is the quality of the food. However, the price is very reasonable and they offer free valet. Great date night choice.

I have no clue what has happened to this place, or maybe we got newbies to attend us. The staff was awfully slow. I had to ask for the bread to be served since apparently they forgot. Through out the dinner we did not get our waiter to come ask how we were doing very often and our desert which was the Nutella crepe came cold and icecream half melted. There wasn't that many people in the restaurant so there can't be the excuse that it was busy. We finished our desert and no one came for 15 minutes so we got up to go pay the bill. I am very sad because I have always love this place so much but I will absolutely not go back if this is the new type of services they are offering? Regardless of how good the food is.

Dinner has always been great here. They are a true Italian gem in Doral. Their parking is a tad difficult but their customer service has always been great. Every entree has been exceptional and the wine selection is great as well. Would highly recommend for a tasteful Italian experience.

Do not order the Salted Fish! Waiters cannot serve it w/o tons of salt over it. S.l.o.w. Service, forget reservations, they dont know what that means. Rude waiters to Anglo who did not speak spanish... Never will eat there again. Owner could care less about responding apologies... Pass...

Been here twice and both time the food/wine and service was excellent.. .especially my first time.. server was soo attentive that it was a bit annoying a bit but made me feel appreciated. So my co-worker and i decided to become avid food tasters since we're from California and tried many different place. Il Forno Ristorante became our favorite for the wine selection. Our favorite is the Pinot Nero from Italy ( yelp.com/biz_photos/il-f… ) light bodied and well balanced with meat and seafood. First time i was here Zuppa di Mare Mediterranea: large Seafood soup (4/5) ( yelp.com/biz_photos/il-f… ) It is big enough to share for two loaded with giant seafood and was well balanced in favor. The picture is what i scoop into my bowl, there is more. Veal chop (5/5) ( yelp.com/biz_photos/il-f… ) Omg... my favorite, it was soo tender and juicy Coppa Danimarca Vanilla ice cream with pear & hot chocolate ganage (4/5) delicious, could use more pear and chocolate ratios Macedonia di Frutta con gelato : ice cream with fresh fruit: you cant go wrong with that. Second time: Fritto Misto: fried seafood appetizer (3/5) little to much batter for me. baked lamb chops with rosemary and red wine reduction cooked med (5/5) soo tender and juicy with every bite Coppa Melba: Vanilla ice cream served with peach, topped with home made Melba sauce & almonds : (3/5) it was ok.

I've gone to this restaurant more than a few times and have always had good food. The ambiance is nice, decoration is pretty, and service is usually good. Their food menu has great selections and during the week, they have lunch specials which are usually great as well. Last time I went I had the Linguini Vongole al olio (linguini with clams) and it was excellent. My family had the Salted Fish which was very good. For dessert we had the Guava Cheesecake and it was AMAZING!! The texture and taste of the cheesecake was perfect and the guava just adds a nice finishing touch to it. This is a really nice Coral Gables type restaurant to go to if you are in the Doral area. My only complaint will be the valet service, which sometimes is imposed on you, even though the restaurant has its own parking.

  • Maria M.

Not as it used to be when it was opened. The lack of service and attention has worsen, although I must confess it used to be worse! The food is Ok and above many of the other Italian restaurants of the area. The spaghetti Carbonara simply the best, as well as the veal piccatta. The reason I do not give a better rating is simply the service, which is not of a high-end restaurant as they try to show. The bread takes at least 10-15 minutes to be placed on the table, sometimes arrives when the appetizers are served. Also, to take the order is another ordeal!!

    (3)
  • Jim K.

Good, modern take on old classics. Ambiance and service are great, even has some seating out back by the water. Parking lot is not very large, as it seems like everyone drives here in their own, but they do have valet if you need it. Beware, valet becomes hostile if you choose to park yourself!

I love this restaurant so much. The food is incredible and the service is wonderful. It's in a random place but the restaurant is actually very nice in the back there's a little lake. It's worth it for a special date or a nice meal.

Not impressed at all and HIGHLY frustrated by the end of our meal. At first I thought things were going to be ok as our appetizers were brought out in a timely fashion. When our appetizers were brought out I couldn't believe we were being charged $9 for two pieces of bread with some bland bruschetta. After placing our soup and salad order it took about 45 minutes just to get them brought out. How could it possibly take so long to ladle some soup into a bowl?!?!? My sister didn't even get her salad because the server argued that she had cancelled it so he never put the order in. Nobody in our party of 9 people ever heard my sister say she wanted to cancel her salad so, with a great bit of attitude the server obliged to put the salad order in. At this point we have still not even received bread and all our water glasses are bone dry. We kept trying to flag our server down to fill up our glasses and bring bread and he kept avoiding eye contact. When he finally comes back with water and bread but he brings ONE pita bread for a table of 9 people. We ask for more bread and once again we get a nice serving of attitude to go with it. Over an hour after our soups had come out we get our sub par dishes. Our gnocchi was edible at best, the ravioli al forno was pretty delicious but I was expecting to receive more than 4 raviolis for $18. When we received our check, we notice we had been charged an extra $3 to have onions on our salads, who the hell charges for onions on a freaking salad?!?! We asked for our check to be broken down into 3 checks and our server caught the biggest attitude and said there was no way he could split it up as he didn't know what each of us ordered. Mind you, when he took our orders he numbered each of us as he said it would be easier for him to know what each of us ordered. I will definitely never go back or suggest it to anyone.

Oh Doral...I know you are my hood...but you can be so boring at times...So glad for this great restaurant! My girlies and I were able to celebrate our Annual Xmas Dinner and for being our first time visiting; it did not dissapoint. The menu has a lot of great options, from great salads, to pasta, to seafood....this time I tried the lobster bisque and their spinach salad. Everything was tasty and the service was top notch. Decor is chic, modern, yet cozy and romantic. Great for a dinner date. Oh yeah, they have comnplimentary valet service, always a plus.

One of my favorite Italian restaurants. The owner Ciro is extremely welcoming and you can tell he truly cares about his patrons. The entrees are good sizes and very good in taste. My favorite pasta dish is the pappardelle with porcini mushroom... But one thing I truly adore, is dessert !! They are always so good.. The cream of Zabaglione with Marsala sauce and strawberries is to die for!! And the Tiramisu is always tasty with a hint of coffee!! What can I say.. I'll keep coming back whenever I'm down in the area !! PS: Don't forget to visit next door "Grazie Dio" their sister store!! Delicious gourmet Cheeses, Egg Pasta, great wine values and Amazing espresso!! :-)

Doral is NOT Coral Gables, so I was skeptical when an apparent "upscale" place opened here. Hard to compete with other Miami areas where valets get bored parking a Lamborguini. But hey, the placed looked very nice from outside, we gave it a shot. This was a year ago. Now we come to this place at least once a month. Yep, it is good. Here's the lowdown: Deco: very very nice. Nice wine cellar, wood burning oven (great for pizza!), indor and outdoor sitting, and by the water! Yes, Doral has a mini-lakes there. Food: I have tried several different dishes, all very good to very-good. I specially love the veal recipes. But fish (Branzini, Chilean Sea Bass) are also excellent. My daughter loves the pizza (the wood burning oven makes a difference, maybe that's why the call the place "Il Forno"?). Perspicacious! Drinks: Wine selection is very good, all price ranges and types. A bit on the expensive side though. Ambiance: modern decor, nice and clean. Not loud at all. But we love the outside sitting. Service: ooops, this is a gamble. Sometimes service is attentive and efficient. Sometimes we feel they forgot we were there. But not as bad as to cut a star though. Pricing: here's were it blew a star. Reminder: this is Doral. Not exactly a "destination" for a fancy night out, to see and be seen. Gloria Stephan and Anna Kournikova will not do an in-prompt unannounced apparition. So here are the indexes: TRI (Tourist Ripoff Index): very low STTM (Suggestion to The Manager): Lower your prices a bit, a 5* will be a sure thing then. Better train wait staff, their attention must be 100% focused on the tables (they can check facebook or gossip with a coworker after they are done for the day). Never forget that a key part for customer happiness is friendly, attentive, efficient service. Pizza: it is good, but to make it great imitate the pizza style they serve in São Paulo (Brazil).... mama mia! Keep up the good job. Recommended. Cheers!

I want to give this place a better review, because the food is always good, prices are decent and the lunch scene typical of white collar Doral, but the service is simply too slow for anyone who works for a living to take this place seriously for lunch. If you're looking for a long, languid boozy lunch, maybe this is the spot for you. If you want good food relatively quickly, go elsewhere. It's consistently that slow.

For my birthday, my family decided to treat me to dinner and brought me here. When we arrived, we stood awkwardly at the hostess stand where there was no hostess. We waited patiently until a waiter finally saw us and seated us outside in their air conditioned terrace. The ambiance was wonderful and the breeze outside was comforting. Our waiter seemed well informed on the menu and took our order without a problem. The big issue resulted when a larger party came in. They were seated in the same section and our waiter no longer cared for our table. He ignored us and left the server assistants to take care of us, who did not speak English and didn't understand us when we spoke in Spanish. The food took a reasonable amount of time to come out, except my grandmother's meal was the last to come out and it was the simplest of all. Chicken with fettuccini Alfredo. We all waited for her meal to arrive before eating, and by the time we ate as a family, our food was cold. I ordered gnocchi and also the lobster ravioli, both were delicious. My boyfriend ordered the pappardelle with mushrooms and brandy. My father ordered primavera which he loved and my mother the lasagna, which later on gave her a stomach ache. Overall, the food was great but the service was horrendous. It was seriously a bad joke. I wouldn't be surprised if in two years this restaurant is closed down. This experience would have ruined my birthday if it wasn't for my family distracting me. Too expensive for the amateur experience.

The best italian food in Doral along with excellent service. Only reason I did not give 5 star rating was because the valet guy asked for tip when we self parked. That was awful. Nevertheless we will be back and hope to not encounter the valet guy..

The ambiance is surprisingly pretty, and the food is very good. My husband had the filet mignon, cooked just right and I had the chicken Parmesan. My only negative comment on the food is the bread. The restaurant has good food, and nice ambiance and pita bread just cheapens the meal. I would have rather seen small dinner rolls, french baguette or italian bread. Pita bread for this restaurant just doesn't cut it. Our waiter, Cesar made our dining experience even better, as he was attentive, informative and friendly, and probably one of the best servers we've ever had. Definitely would recommend this place for good and ambiance in Doral!

This was my first time (2/17/12) at IL Forno and I was pleasantly surprised. Whenever I go to a new place thats somewhat decent I tend to order a few things off the menu so I can make an informed decision if I will go back. So I'll try to make it quick. Lets start with the parking - although its complimentary I don't really like the idea of mandatory valet parking, you can always park at the bank next door if you don't want to let someone else drive your car. Food: Burrata & Prosciutto - very good! lean & clean prosciutto, ask for extra olives. Carpaccio di Polipo - nice presentation not to much in term of taste. Pizza Quattro Stagioni - very good although crust edges slightly burnt Cesare Insalata - excellent! and the have real anchovies, just ask them to go light on the drag Triangolo di Zucca - very good, a bit sweet. Squid ink linguine with lobster (that was the special) - very good, spicy but good Crepe di Nutella & Torta del Giorno - both average, okay Wine list - nice selection, I brought my own for which they charge a $15 corkage fee funny thing is i called and asked upon arrival how much the corkage fee was and both people told me$10 Service-cant complain, appropriate Will def return!

Been a few times and every time has been wonderful! Great wine selection and the food is amazing. My husband and I usually go with one of the specials... We like to try something new each time we go. Have yet to try something we havent liked. The ambiance is very nice and romantic for dinner and the service is great! It's also a nice place to go for a business lunch. If your in the Doral area, I recommend checking this place out

I had the best chicken parmigiana. My girlfriend loved her linguine alle vongole as well. The food was truly wonderful and on point. The service was fantastic, too. Tip: Go on Sundays. I will definitely be coming here again. P.S. For dessert, definitely try the crowd-pleaser, crepe di nutella.

I agree with John!!!! This place is amazing!! I've been there for business lunches, with my fiancé for great dates and with family and friends and it is always a pleasure. Besides the great service and ambiance I find the food to be excellent. Everything is home made and original from the bread to the unique desserts, just ask the waiters for other desserts off the menu. I have tried half of the menu and I can't come across a dish I wasn't fond of. My favorites carrot soup, watercress ceasar, chicken ravioli and the mango or chocolate mousse. The tuna appetizer is great. The fish in salt cooked in the wood oven and Chicken parm is ***** I love it. I can go on and on. During the weekend they usually have great live music in the terrace overlooking the canal. Really nice. I will definately recommend it, just what doral needed!! Boun appetito...

It's kind of annoying that you pretty much have to valet (free, but annoying). Otherwise you can illegally park at the bank, which I did (at night, so I'm pretty sure the bank was closed). Besides that everything turned out pretty good. Went here for dinner. Started with the portabello. 1 giant portabello topped with basil, peppers, tomatoes, and melted cheese. I had the lobster ravioli (Raviolone Nero D'aragosta), couldn't tell it had squid ink, but the bisque sauce was nice and creamy. My wife had the chick parmesan (pollo parmigiana). The chicken was perfectly fried and the pasta had a nice basil kick to it (my wife thought it needed more basil, but you can really taste it). For dessert, we shared the crepe which comes with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. Overall pretty good. The service was good and very attentive. Unlike the other reviewers, I didn't find the service was slow.

Stay away from this place, it has the worst service I've ever experienced in my life. I'm not sure if it was failure on the waiter's part or the kitchen but either way there was a complete meltdown of service. I went there for my mother's birthday, we were a group of 8. We sat down and we weren't even seated at a table that was big enough, which should have been the first sign, but we made due. After about 30 minutes the waiter strolls around and takes out drink order. Another 30 minutes later we didn't even have menus. We kept asking for menus and hey would bring one at a time, I guess there were enough to go around. Another 30 minutes later the waiter comes to take our order. We politely asked him to my husband and my order in first because we have a 9 month old that starts getting pretty temperamental, he said no problem. About an hour later still no food. Finally he food starts coming out and guess who who has no food? My husband and I. When I asked the waiter what happened he said the chef couldn't be bothered to put in our order first. Great customer service! If I could give this place a negative 5 stars I would.

This is a 3 1/2 star review, unfortunately the 1/2 cannot be added so it went down to 3. We were going to go to our favorite pizza joint in Doral.. Anthony's but were passing by and figured we should try it as we love to try new and different places. I was pleasantly surprised when we walked in, its high ceilings give it a nice ambiance and you can see the coal oven in the back. I was hoping for some Coal Fired Pizza. They do not have pizza, it is a higher end Italian place. The service was very, very good but I must say, they have salt on the table and no pepper so I had to ask for some. My pasta was ok, not mind blowing and very salty. I definitely will try another dish when we go back. My hubby's pasta Puttanesca was also very good but.. you guessed it.. salty (of course it does have Anchovies, Capers, and Kalamata olives so it was to be expected) but it was so much so, that he had to ask for more bread to offset the saltiness. The dessert was Profiterol with cream, very good. Price wise, I believe it is a tad overpriced. $18 for a bowl of pasta with a few mussels, 2 clams 2 shrimp and a few calamari was a bit steep. Parking: Good Service: Good Food; OK, we might just have ordered the wrong dishes. Ambiance: Fantastic Will we return? Maybe. I have to try Randazzo's first, then I will decide.

This place is okay. Mandatory valet which is kind of annoying. My waiter was nice but he took forever to come around, and I don't see why because the restaurant wasn't that packed. I ordered four cheese ravioli and although it was good they only served 5 small pieces. I wasn't that hungry so it was an acceptable portion for me but I could only imagine the faces of hungry men who are expecting a plate of hearty Italian goodness and in actuality get something that looks like it could be out of a kid's menu. I don't think I'm going back.

I have been to this restaurant about 4 times, and every time I have gone the food and service has been without a doubt top notch! Delicious food and impeccable service. The restaurant is in the Doral, and it's not near anything to touristy, it's kind of in the middle of a commercial area, so to drive out here has to be because the food is worth it, and it is. I love this place and I highly recommend it because they deserve it. The only reason I do not give 5 stars is because of the location, to me a five star has it all, but if I was to base my rating on food alone they would get a 5 star from me. Great job iL forno!!!

This place is really unexpected considering its location. Its in a farely new stand alone building on NW 25th Street, where theres' really not much else nearby. The place itself is really nice with high ceilings, and really modern yet rustic decor. They have a great bar where you can watch games, and an ample seating area. The wine selection is great, and the food was above average, the service was impeccable. I had the filet, and the risotto and everything was cooked perfectly. Great place for families, or couples.

So who would have thought that such a nice little Italian place would be in the middle of doral. Went to lunch with a friend and was very impressed. Started off by complimentary valet which is always a plus then was seated right away. We started off with the calamari which was really good. Ofcourse had to have a few perroni's to wash it down with. When in Rome right? Next course I had the corvina which was catch of the day and let me tell you cooked to perfection! Had veggies on side and espresso to finish it off. I was also in great company so that always makes the experience so much better.

I had the ricotta pear ravioli in a Gorgonzola sauce topped with a basalmic glaze and pine nuts. HEAVEN! Go have that ASAP. Also had the salmon carpaccio which was alright.

The meal size is ridiculously small compared to their price. I ordered an appetizer called portobello mushroom with blah blah blah and when the plate arrived it was only one mushroom, no sharing, 9 dollars. Not worth it. They make up for it with their pizza though. Still beware of whatever else you order! Sorry Mr.Forno you get three stars, I've been to italia 3 volte e cuando mangio fungh,i il ristorante porta piu di uno per un prezzo buono. Ciao!!!

This is a beautiful restaurant ,the hostess at the entrance is very nice, the decor is modern and the distance between tables is perfect, the food was exellent BUT the service was horrible!!!!!!!!!! We went on Saturday april 30-2011 our servant was cold ,distant ,acted like if he didn't care if we return or not .We saw him 3 times , 1.to order .2,to serve the food.3 to bring or check,Never came to serve wine ,never came to see i we needed anything ,the place was 1/2 empty and its full of extra help that stands at the entrance front door talking to each others and not paying attention to the customers ,I WILL NOT RETURN ,what a shame ,such a beautifull place..such good food such HORRIBLE SERVICE.

I need to the buidling is very beautiful but the parking is only valet parking which is a big negative in my book. When I walked into the resturant, I fell in love with the decor and the great ambiance that it gives out to the guest. For my sense of style, it was like a match made in heaven. Overall, the service was slow and not amble. It took us an hour to get our orders in from the waitress. Since it an italian resturant, the ulitmate test is the quality and taste of the pasta. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara which was missing the peas but it was still a real good disk. The pasta was fresh like it was homemade and the sauce was made of quality stuff. As for dessert, I have the chocolate moose. Since it a simple dessert, i never expected this disk full of chocolate goodness and bold favors that my tastebud enjoyed.

Great food at a decent price. Their service is incredible. This is a place that should be located in the Gables or Bal Harbour. So to say that I was a bit concerned when I heard I was going there, would be an understatement. However, the place is very nice inside. The patio sits on the water. Not beachfront, but still nice. Love their risotto, their Alfredo and lasagna, Plus their bread is soooooo good. A must try. The price range below is based on the entire meal and not entree price. However, they do have entrees that are over $31, like lobster. Whatever you get is worth the money.

Very small restaurant. Make sure to make reservations. Great food and interesting interior design. Live music bands and a very happy ambient.

Food was very good, and prices were what I expected for a more upscale restaurant. We went for dinner and overall not a bad experience, however, we were seated right next to the live band which made it hard to hear the conversation at our table. The place is immaculate and I really liked that they offer screened outdoor seating.

There's nothing else to say other than the fact that this place is amazing. They serve great AUTHENTIC Italian cuisines unlike the usual Americanized Italian meals you would find in places like olive garden or carino's; and yes they serve great Italian pizza. Considering that it's an upscale restaurant, there is a separate pizza menu that needs to be requested. It's also a great happy hour spot on Friday evenings by the outdoor terrace area. I really enjoy the osobucco with risotto or the shrimp pasta with the fra diablo sauce it added a nice kick to it. I like to order their specials since they continue to surprise me. And the bread kicks ass!!!

  • M. S.

I would have given this place 5 stars. However, the value aspect of "do you get what you pay for" is what caused me to lower it down a notch. I don't think I will go back to this place as often as other places I like only because of that fact. Otherwise, great place! The service was pretty good. And the fluffy pita, oh the deliciously delicious delightfully delightful fluffy pita that burns the fingers of the first person to go for it, I love that too. The pita is nothing out of this world, it's just the originality bonus it gives them. However, it's just a tiny piece of pita and it makes you feel bad to ask for more...hmm, I think I'm on to these people! Anyway, the food I ordered was the fettuccine alla vongole (fettuccine with a white wine sauce with clams) was really good. And the wine selection is awesome! There's a wall full of wine behind a glass thing. You gotta see it it's really nice. That being said, the ambiance is nice. Worth trying out, I might be over-hyping the place as usually I get happy when I like a place the first time I go. I won't know if my review is that accurate until I go one or two more times. Until then!

I've definetly experienced better. First of all, the restaurant is a little hidden. If you are going west on 25 street you might miss it because you don't see the restaurant until you pass it. so if you decide to go pay attention or you might end up making a u turn. the food is eeh...I had chicken ravioli and have had better at the olive garden. I ordered an apple martini which was pretty good but i'm assuming expensive along with everything else on the menu. The inside decor is lovely and the bathrooms were extremely clean and the style was very modern contemporary but if you think this place is better than olive garden or any other italian chain restaurant you will be disappointed. I went here because I had a work meeting here but I dont think I will be returning. p.s. they don't serve pizza but try Anthony's Coal Fire Pizza which is less than a mile away, you won't be disappointed.

Good food at a decent price. The one thing I don't like about this place is the parking situation. The spaces are limited and once it is full, they pretty much force you to Valet park your car. The valet is complimentary, but some people may not feel comfortable with this situation. Once inside the ambiance is a little cold. High ceilings and a lot of gray and concrete tones make for a less than cozy room. If you are in the area though, it is worth checking it out, at least once.

Went here for Sunday dinner. The fresh coal stove oven baked bread was very good. Started with a diet coke and frozen drink. Frozen drink was very watery and expensive. Ordered a Bruschetta Mista Pomo for appetizer. It was so-so and very expensive. Four pieces of bread and tomato for $8.00. Very dissapointing. My wife ordered Pollo Parmigiana and I ordered Ravioli Colline de Fies. Both plates were very delicious!!!!. The service was very good. After eating we were too full to order dessert. I suggest skip the appetizers and order the main plates.

Come to me you delicious fluffed-up fresh bread. I agree with Carla, this place is a 3.5, but you will soon understand why I gave it a 4. I went with my mother to a business/friend lunch in Il Forno. This place certainly has pizzazz. Blue tile all over their entrance, high ceilings, the whole 9 yards. I had a perfectly al dente Linguini Vongole, but reading Marcelo's review below, I don't know why I didn't go for the ravioli, I tend to lean towards pumpkin or squash related dishes. My mother ordered a seafood pasta and her friend was half done with her minestrone by the time we got there. Overall the food was good; the portions were average, not too big or small. After a couple of glasses of wine my mother's friend's boyfriend walked in, then one of her friends, (*insert drama here*). It wasn't long before my mother and her friend ended up getting completely trashed. It was like babysitting a couple of frat boys. Five bottles of wine later the staff kept taking these woman's' abuse with a smile on their face! I couldn't believe it. When they finished, the waiter helped me carry our things to the car and the manager even allowed me to leave her friends car there in their lot until I could find some way to pick it up. The went above and beyond in their customer service. I am incredibly grateful. I will definitely return to Il Forno, if for no other reason, to give those ravioli a try (and eat some more of that bread).

So we are cruising last night on our way to our favorite pizza place in this area when we drive past Il Forno - We have been intrigued about this place for a while but a bit hesitant to go in as a result of Andres' review, anyway .... a block later I pull a U turn and we head back. Full of anticipation at the prospect of a brand new place to review. Nicely decorated place with a bit of a minimalistic approach but it works quite well, no frills, yet elegant and subdued. The service was good, lacking a bit of attention to detail hence no 4 or 5 stars here. However, we felt welcome and well taken care of. The food, we purposely ordered 3 different items in the menu, the Calamari was average, the sauce was pretty good a bit spicy which gave it a nice little bite, good touch. The spaghetti puttanesca is good, really good, my only complaint at the risk of being petty is that it should have just a bit more anchovies - but overall good !! The Penne a sette mari was OK at best - for the price, we expected more than 2 shrimp and 2 clams and few mussels - the flavors worked well. Dessert was the profiteroles with Real whipped cream - yumm Good overall experience, it can be a bit better-

3 1/2 stars: Nice place. Good food (we had the veal skirt steak and filet mignon). The house merlot by the glass was very decent as well. Bad [nighttime] lighting. Too bright. They'd have gotten 4 stars if the lighting was better / dimmer. Dinner for two: $70.

I love Italian food, and this place has a great variety of fish, meat, chicken and pasta. I had the Penne Cappricousa. It was basically Penne in marinara sauce with eggplant and shrimp. It was quite tasty. My boyfriend had squid ink ravioli with seafood and that was tasty too. The prices are a little high, however the food is good. The portions aren't that big but they are filling. I gave it an okay it wasn't a restaurant that blew me away. The ambiance was nice for the middle of Doral's warehouse section. I may visit this place again.

Let me prefix anything I say hereafter with the fact that on a previous occasion I had a very nice time with friends at Il Forno. I can very much recommend the Chicken Parmesan, very good. That being said, let's go to the present day. My family and I went there last night (12/29/2012), and one of the specials was Lamb Osso Bucco. I happen to love Osso Bucco, and have had this dish at many Italian restaurant, not only around town, but elsewhere. This was NOT, let me be clear, NOT Osso Bucco as you would expect. What I got was a Lamb Shank alright, but basically roasted lamb with an extra 1/3 of fat rounding out the inner layer of meat. I'm not a plebe, fat adds flavor. Most of the time. Osso Bucco doesn't derive most of it's flavor from having a lot of fat around it. That flavor of red wine marinated meat you might've expected? As they in New York, Foggedaboudit. The "sauce" that was basically drizzled over it (and over the risotto, thereby giving you "pink" looking risotto when you try to scoop a little of to taste), think Chef Boy-Ar-Dee type spaghetti sauce. It was literally sweet to the taste. And if you think that was the extent of it, oh no. One might've thought that a plate practically sitting untouched (maybe took 2 bites out of it), would've been a clue to the staff that "hmm, something's not right". Nope, think again. Never mind that I have family in the food industry (think, own and operate restaurants), and my second job was working back in the kitchen of one of those one summer. If you see the customer not eating, you ask. Never happened. Also, my father worked in hotel restaurants on MIami for the first 10 years after they came here from Cuba. I know how hard it is. I don't generally send food back, and this is the one time I actually question if I should've. I also tip WELL, it's just one of my tenets, unless the staff is like totally rude or something. That wasn't the case last night. The price for this faux Osso Bucco? Won't got into except to say it was more expensive than at least 2 other 4.5 star Italian restaurant you'll find here. I was taken aback that that being charged, but I kept to my principals and said "Maybe it was a just a bad night for them.". When I paid my bill, I asked the waiter to call over the manager to the door, so I could speak to that person privately, and away from the dining area and other guest. I'd seen my Cousin do that when I was younger. When he needed to set something straight with the staff, it was always done respectfully away from the dining area so not to disturb the guests. The person who came up to me, ehh, I'm not buying that it was the manager, he was dressed no differently than the other staff. And when I explained what had happened, insulted my intelligence by offering a free dessert. We'd already had a dessert (The Nutella Crepe, not bad, not great, but not bad) it was on my bill. Even if I rejected the offer, I would've thought, someone who's supposed to be knowledgeable or experienced enough in the business to be the manager, they'd at least TRY to comp the dish itself. Didn't happen. Lovely atmosphere, it's a very clean restaurant, and except for not realizing something was obviously wrong with my dish, the waiter was attentive. Needless to say, I'm gonna think a couple of times before recommending a night out that includes Il Forno. Take from this review what you will, I don't think I've been "over the top" with my description of anything, just pretty clearly the ball got dropped here on several accounts.

Been to this out of the way Ristorante three times in as many months, Favorites are: osso buco special, sangria, risottos, fried calamari appetizer, caprese salad, bruschetta. Fails: octopus carpaccio. I have yet to try to pizza but will definitely do so on my next visit which will be soon! I'll keep y'all posted.

I have been here twice over the past 2 years, our company employers offer our holiday lunch here, thing that I am thankful (to have a employer) the food is good, the service is good, nothing spectacular, if you are in the area and want some average Italian come here, I think in Miami there are too much options millions time better to go instead.

I am so surprised this place is in the location it is in, and has the great food that it has !! The building outside is beautiful, and there is a finger lake out back that might be enjoyable when the cooler weather comes (complete with tiki torches!). I thoroughly loved the atmosphere, and the menu has so many great sounding (and tasting!) selections , it was tough to pick just one...We went with good friends of ours, and I think we had one of each of the best appetizers on the menu; beef carpaccio, octopus carpaccio, caprese salad, and beefsteak tomato salad. For entrees, I had the fish special, which was prepared as a whole fish in salt, and then filleted tableside. My bf had the rack of lamb, and our friends had squid ink risotto with shrimp and calamari, and the special, osso bucco. Since we could decide on ONE wine, we got a few whites and a few reds. It was one of the best meals we've all had...A GREAT experience!! Zabaglione for dessert (the bf makes it, but had to try it to see if it was comparable... : ) ) I can't wait to try this again. I heard the pizza has a separate menu , so have to try that next time...AND THERE WILL BE A NEXT TIME !!

ok, so this place is around corner to my house and if you know anything about Doral is that they are too many rich people and good restaurants. I've read all the reviews about il forno and I must disagree with most of the haters. The service is typical Italy...you don't just come to eat and run. You dine, drink and chat and the owner comes to the table and introduces himself. Great food and if they osso busco special is available...ORDER IT! Highly recommend this place...just get there early.

Wow. What horrible service - please avoid this place. First ... Our waiter didn't seem very interested with us. We ordered our food (my husband order tortellini which brought 5 pieces and I ordered the gnocchi which tasted like it was cooked in syrup). After waiting was seemed like an eternity for our food, we decided to order a second helping of bread. It never showed and later found out by the water boy that they had "ran out". Finally our food arrived and we were asked if we wanted parmesan cheese - well why ask if you are never going to come by and actually give us any? When I brought it up to someone's attention, at the end of our meal, because our waiter never asked us once how our food was, they attempted to bring us cheese. I politely said too late. The next time I saw our waiter after ordering our food was to ask if we wanted dessert. My husband wanted to try the tiramisu. Wow - my orange gnocchi had more flavor than that bland desert. It was horrible. The best part of the evening was getting our check, because I knew the torture wad over. PLEASE avoid this place. It's HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!

With Restaurant.com certificate on hand we decided to give this place a try. our friends had eaten here and spoke highly about it. parking: only valet - it is free thou - just tip for guy who takes your car. the place is nice and a bit sophisticated and romantic. high ceilings and warm lighting make up the atmosphere. you can see the brick oven used to cook.. this also gives it a warm feeling.. our server was amazing. he was knowledgeable of the menu and attentive to our needs. he recommended the Chilean Sea Bass crusted in Sea Salt served with potatoes and veggies - this i believe is not on menu everyday but it was a special of the day plate - i really did not have much appetite went with the chicken ravioli in cream sauce. my hubby's - this was a whole sea bass completely covered in sea salt and cooked to a tender consistency. it is served table side in a very large skillet, where the server with a fork & spoon being to remove the juicy delicate meat off the bones and serves it onto another plate. the first thing removed is layers and layers of sea salt until a beautifully crispy fish can be reached and seen. it is amazing. then he gently removes the crispy skin (to discard it) unless you want it. i truly recommended it. even thou it is on the salty side, it was cooked perfectly. crispy and salty... delicious. then the beautiful flaky white flesh is exposed. this is so gently removed and served without any bones. the bones are removed almost completely (of course you may get a bone or 2 - but it was minimal). this has to be one of the best fish dish we have ever had. the side of potatoes was ok - roasted i believe and veggies was a medley of sorts, ok as well. but the true star was that spectacular fish!!! my ravioli was ok (tuff to judge fairly after having the fish!) but it was good in its own. creamy sauce was good. it was cooked al dente so it was not too mushy. varies yummy choices for dessert. i love the zabalogine - a creamy custard made with strawberries and Marsala wine. it was finger licking good. we loved the place and it was delicious. classy, romantic and delicious! great choice for dinner. no hassle with the restaurant.com coupon either.

The food is good but the portions are way too small. The ambience is nice. I'm not even sure it was worth it even with the restaurant.com certificate. The Caesar salad is great as is the lobster ravioli - but with only 5 pieces of ravioli...definitely not a portion for a grown man.

I'm a pretty big fan. It's definetely the best Italian food in the Doral area. However, I have heard that sometimes the service is bad. I have never been on a busy night though. The pumpkin ravioli is excellent (I don't even like pumpkin) and the dessert with strawberries is great too! Btw, they are on restaurant.com .

The restaurant is very nice. The service was excellent and they are very accommodating. We asked if they could make french fries, which are not on the menu, for our son and they said absolutely. The fries were homemade and delicious. Thank you. The mushroom risotto was good but a little under cooked. The osso buco was also good. Great ambiance. Will definitely go back.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
