Now you have to realize I came from the beach where Chinese food takeout was a staple of our diet. Oh my fu*&^ing fried rice and chix with broccoli!!!! I think the last time I tasted Chinese so yummy was in San Francisco. Someone here knows what they're doing - ps - my hubbie went inside to pick up the food - so I can't really comment on it's interior, but take out?? A - PLUS PLUS!!! I can't wait to try more things on their menu... and I need to find out if they do dim-sum! Anyone know?

THE WORST chinese food ever!!! these reviews must have been written by employees of gourmet gourmet. let me make it short its plain and has noooooooo flavor at all i would have appreciate it if they would have at least used salt. who ever considers to order something from this restaurant pleaseeeee DONT.

Ordered delivery from her last night for the Super Bowl for 5 people. We tried the honey chicken, Vegetable Lo Mein, Special Friend Rice, Fried Dumplings, and Fried Wantons. Everything was really good and was not as greasy as the food from other Chinese Restaurants. The honey chicken did not have an overabundance of breading which I liked. Everything was great, I would totally choose this place over canton. The only negative is that they charged a little over $4 for delivery plus we had to add tip. I'll be picking up in the future.

I ordered the smoked salmon rangoon, chicken with broccoli, shrimp fried rice and the spring rolls. Based on the yelp reviews I expected more, so much more. The Good- Customer service was great. The woman taking my order was very helpful with questions I had on some of the menu items. Also, the food was cooked to order and FAST. The shrimp fried rice more authentic than other Chinese places I've tried. That is the only thing I ended up eating. The Bad - The cream cheese filling in the rangoons must have gone sour. It had an awful taste to it. The chicken and broccoli has to be the blandest dish I have ever had. Literally, it tasted like NOTHING! I'm hoping in their drive to get things out fast they just forgot to add the flavor. There is no way anyone would enjoy what I was served tonight. Finally, the spring rolls had a funny taste to them and had a strong ginger flavor that I wasn't used to, didn't sit we'll with me and thrown away. Overall, the fried rice was good, everything else was thrown away:(

Hands down, the best Chinese takeout/ delivery in Miami, and I should know, I am a Chinese takeout aficionado! No MSG, the ingredients are fresh, and the quality, yes, I wrote "quality," is first rate. I gave this place a try a little over a month ago, at the insistence of my boss and her husband, long standing regulars. I must confess, I've already ordered from here so many times that the delivery guy came by my office to leave an order for an office lunch we had and he not only recognized me, but he even recited my address to me! Scary. But, I'm guessing it's a good sign, because they really KNOW their customers. Everything on the menu is phenomenal. I love the chicken Tetaki, which I know is not Chinese, but it's still awesome! Hope you enjoy it as much as me.

Before they moved, I would have given GG a 4. Picked up an order a few nights ago from their new location. I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the location but the latest round from GG didn't seem up to their former self. The order seemed just a little on the bland side. I would like to be more elaborate with this review but what can you say about a take-out joint? Like I said, seemed as though they were a little slim on the flavor.

I don't eat Chinese food from any other place in Miami. I've been going to Gourmet Gourmet since they were in the Gables. Our office has lunch from them once or twice a month, and everyone loves their chosen dish. It's not a place to go to sit down and eat, but its worth the hassle of taking back to your house or office.

Definitely above average Chinese Takeout. -- I found this place on Yelp! with help from other reviews. On the way there my GPS had the location wrong so I called and they provided great directions, when I came to pick up my food everyone was very cordial and welcoming. The hospitality didn't stop there, on the way home I got a call from Gourmet Gourmet saying that they had forgotten the "Crepes" that come with the Moo Shu Pork. I told them that they really weren't that important and not to worry however, they insisted that they bring them to my hotel at no cost! That is good customer service in my book. The food is delicious too, not just your typical Chinese Takeout!

Really this place should get 4.5 stars, but when you think about what it really is, it bumps it to 5. This place is the best chinese takeout in the gables/coconut grove area. Mind you this place is ONLY take-out or delivery, no seating here. So far everything I've tried here was delicious so this place moved. and i haven't tried the new location yet.

Had the sweet and sour chicken lunch special a couple of weeks ago and it tasted great, crispy outside and tender and juicy inside with a great not overpowering sauce. The side rice was great too. Owner is very cool and attentive. They cook everything in front of you so you know it is fresh and how they do it. This place reminds me the old Chinese take-out places in NYC. The owner highly recommends the special rice that it is what I am thinking of getting today!

Chinese food is, well, Chinese food - unless you've gone to China you're not much aware of how Americanized Chinese food is in the US. But in all, it's good, quick food; and Gourmet Gourmet is no exception. I used to always eat here back when they were closer to downtown CG. When I'd literally eat my lunch atop a refrigerator b/c their shop was so small. Not much has changed, except now, they have six stools, one counter, and a stainless steel metal shelf placed too high to eat comfortably... another thing that hasn't changed - their food and their service. Seriously, the couple of people who work here are just nice; and best of all, it's super cheap!! yeiii that Gourmet Gourmet reopened, and yeiii that it is still relatively close to my work so I can come back every now and then. * Warming - if you are claustrophobic I recommend you order delivery and do not make plans to stay and eat inside. I'm sure you get the picture - my walk-in closet is larger than this place. ** Credit cards accepted for orders of $15 or more.

Wow, there is only one way to describe the food I had at this place. Completely awful. Looking for a quick, cheap takeout Chinese place, I found "Gourmet Gourmet" on Yelp and ordered General Tso's Chicken and Pork Fried Rice. What I received was absolutely hideous. Chicken that was so rubbery and fatty (some pieces with skins), fried rice again with as low quality meat as possible. It managed to even smell bad. Looking at other reviews here, maybe I just ordered the wrong things? I hope that's the case but considering the quality of the meat, hmm. To top things off, they charge for their hot sauce too. Yes, the prices are low but not really low enough to make up for the terrible food.

Coral gables Locals. This is a perfect weekday dinner fix. The food is better than the local competition (Canton). The restaurant is also very cleanly. You can see everything from the front of the store. I highly recommend the Mu-Shu pork, the portion is big so I suggest ordering an extra 4 crepes so that you can have the leftovers. This will feed 2 people. Also, the egg drop soup is a great option if you are feeling under the weather.

This is one of the best Chinese places around! Jose Sang is one great chef and he cooks the food right there in front of you. There are only 3 seats at the bar to eat, but worth it!!! The chicken over Jade blossums is the most amazing dish, but everything I have eaten has been incredible. The fried dumplings and the spare ribs are awesome. The soup is delicious and the main dishes are huge and can be shared between 3 people easily. Most people order take out and delivery, but if you eat it there, you will come back again and again!

Our go to place for Chinese take out. I normally order the mangolian beef with the fried rice. The fried rice is always fresh. I didn't give it 5 stars because I was not a fan of the spare ribs which I love Chinese spare ribs. The food always comes hot and they always get it right.

alrighty .... below is my original review ... since then, Gourmet Gourmet has become my go to spot. the staff there are hilarious and incredibly nice ... the food is phenomenal -fresh cooked, every time ... and scrumdiddlyumptious to boot. doesn't matter what you get, you can't go wrong with Gourmet Gourmet! i just wish they delivered after 9 pm =( i actually live right down the street, a ten minute walk from gourmet gourmet ... so late one saturday night i realized i was craving chinese food, and since my favorite spots are at least 30 minutes away, i logged on to google and yelp to see if it was worth a try... i really can't give more than 4 stars since i've only ordered once, but the food was great ... spring rolls were fantastic, definitely the best i've had in a while ... the beef was absolutely incredible -tender and not at all chewy or rubbery, veggies were great and the sauce was absolutely delicious ... next time i get the itch for chinese, i'm gonna let gourmet gourmet scratch it.

It's reopened! After having walked by this place in the Gables a bunch of times I was intrigued for years, but since I don't LIVE in the Gables I wasn't just going to drive out for take out... Well, I went to their new location 4249 W. Flagler, which is on my way home and did my research to make sure it was the same owners and my first order was AWESOME. Parking is in the back. I can't wait to try out everyone's favorites!!!

Food is good and they have good lunch specials..... entrees are huge ... one is enough for two..... the wontons are golden.....didnt have any cups and ice for my coke which i thought was weird..... but then again its a little hole in the wall... foods good... cheap and kool.... theres only like 5 chairs in a bar type setting (no tables) and no one was there.... mostly take out ... id go again

Have to say that I agree w most of the reviews. I ordered ham fried rice, honey chicken n egg rolls. The rice tasted so fresh n yummy, the honey chicken was very good too. The egg rolls had sort of an over powering flavor, it had too much of something, can't really pin point it. Food was ready when I got there n staff was very nice n friendly. Prices r reasonable.......But no fortune cookies :-(

2.5 stars. Wow a lot of high ratings. I think the take out is ok. General Tsao's chicken is usually only dark meat. The fried rice is decent. I love the salmon and cream cheese wontons. I hardly ever take out from here anymore. The place grosses me out and I found better in the gables.

  • Jennifer R.

They make it quick, they make it good and they make it cheap. The portions are enough to feed 2 people and on top of all that, they deliver in the CG neighborhood. It takes a real good Chinese takeout joint for a Chinese person to recommend it to other. This place is awesome and we order from them about once a week. This little "hole in the wall" takeout joint has been there forever and the quality of the food has been consistent. They have the best Singapore Noodles (the BF can't get enough, we have to order that every time) and the Sasha Beef is magnificent.

Ordered egg rolls, spring rolls, fried dumplings, 2 fried rice and lo mein. It was 48 bucks. Everything was incredible. Took 45 minutes to arrive. The food was all really tasty. Egg rolls r typical wanton skin eggeolls. Spring rolls were fried rice paper which made them really delicious. Lo mien was fresh and chicken pieces looked like large high quality chunks of breast meat. The best for me was that the fried rice has this slight carbony a la Parilla flavor. It was all really really tasty.

this is a good chinese place in the gables, i order take out or eat in (im 5'7'' :-P ) at least once a month. the food is good and the portions are generous. and the lunch specials go from 6.25$ to 7.50$ (mon-sat 11:30am to 3pm) all lunch specials come with fried rice or steamed rice, or you could get noodles instead for 1$ more. free delivery for orders over 15$ the smoked salmon with cream cheese and spinach wontons are really tasty!!! michelle is right, this is not traditional chinese food by no means. but it is good stuff for sure!

    (4)
  • Effie C.

Their list of lunch specials is a mile long and there are enough options so there's no need for substitutions unless you're a truly impossible person to please. I highly recommend the honey garlic chicken. Friendly, attentive and quick delivery service. Great for a busy, frustrating workday when you' need to reward yourself with some quality Chinese food and will absolutely murder someone if you have to repeat your order. The universal equation for ordering food for delivery is that the amount of times you have to clarify something is directly proportional to how wrong they will ultimately get it anyway. Such is NOT the case with Gourmet Gourmet. I will totally give them five stars if they hook it up with a fortune cookie and those crunchy little noodles next time I order.

Ordered dinner from Gourmet Gourmet tonight and was not disappointed at all! Sampled their Kung pao chicken, vegetable fried rice, and steamed dumplings... All were delectable! The chicken dish had the right amount of heat and great flavor. The rice was light and fluffy... I wouldn't really call it fried rice, to be perfectly honest, but it was fantastic none the less. The dumplings were tasty, but a little on the mushy side- wouldn't necessarily order them again. However, I will definitely be back for that KP chicken!!! Happy to have found this little place.

When craving Asian cuisine, I lean more towards Thai or Japanese but NEVER Chinese. The dishes are usually too greasy and high in sodium for my taste. When I do, I go for steamed dishes but frankly, it's not appetizing to me at all. Unlike me, my Chinese-food devotee colleagues, two being Chinese, rave about this place and order at least once a week so I figured I would give it a try. I wasn't impressed the first time around. I tried the Moo Goo Gai Pan, sliced chicken breast with mushrooms sautéed with vegetables and found it flavorless. Then I tried the orange chicken and it's the best I've ever had. The breading is just right, not thick and meatless like other Chinese venues and they are not cheap on the sauce which I enjoy mixing in with white rice. Chicken with cashes is pretty good too. I also tried the meaty steamed dumplings that came accompanied by two delicious dipping sauces, the red one packs a lot of heat so mix in a little at a time.

I have been trying so hard to find a good Chinese restaurant that delivers to Coconut Grove. I tried a place off 17th Ave and Coral Way, and although it wasn't bad, it just wasn't that great. One day while I was at work, a friend walked in and urged me to give Gourmet Gourmet a try. I am so pleased I took his suggestion, because this place rocks! My whole family liked everything we ordered, which was: Wonton Soup BBQ Spare Ribs (awesome) Chicken Yakitori Mongolian Beef Roast Pork Fried Rice Everything was delicious, I can honestly say this is one of the best Chinese delivery I've had in a very long time!

Definitely a great place for good chinese food. I ordered thinking the price was a little high, but when the food was ready I reconsidered. These are very generous portions and came with more that what I was expecting. I'll be having leftovers for another 2 meals. The General Tso's was very good and actually spicy, contrary to many other places I've eaten. Their wontons are similar to crab rangoon and taste about the same, but come with this dipping sauce of some sort. If you have a craving for chinese I'd recommend stopping here.

Five stars, that's right, maybe not because it's the best Chinese take-out in the world, but because it's one of the best in Miami, even Florida. And this is something that it's starting to irritate me. We have a healthy community of Chinese people, yet in Miami, there is really only one great Chinese restaurant (well, maybe two), and then a million crappy Chinese joints. The food at Gourmet Gourmet is fresh, and that is a big plus when it comes to Chinese food. Also, they use lots of vegetables, which is another plus because real Chinese food uses lots of vegetables. The sauces that they use are not your typical Chinese restaurant sauces, they are always a tad different, adding an extra ingredient or something to give depth. In other words, this is not your run of the mill Chinese take-out. I am an avid fan of curried things. My measuring stick for Chinese restaurants is "curry chicken". If you can do a good curry chicken, most things should be OK, because it shows you can cook chicken, vegetables, and mix in some sauce. This approach basically summarizes Chinese food in America. If the chicken is hard, the veggies are overcooked, or the sauce is lame, or if all three don't gel, then you're disqualified. So I ordered a curry chicken lunch special, and to summarize, the thing was delicious. Whenever I order this dish, I specifically ask for the highest level of heat (very spicy), although I must say that I have never had anything hot enough despite my requests. To my surprise, Gourmet Gourmet delivered a very spicy curry which I enjoyed very much. The reason: I found a whole gigantic red pepper, the size of my finger, when I was done with my food. I didn't bite into it, that would be crazy, but I honestly and truthfully thank this restaurant for the gesture. Other things I have ordered after that experience have been good also. Pepper steak, honey garlic or sweet and sour chicken, Mongolian beef, cashew chicken, everything has a very unique and distinctive taste. Even the wonton soup tastes like mustard seeds. This place blows my mind every time I order something new. As a side note, I wished the fried rice was a bit better. It is good, fresh, but not the type you can eat by itself. Also, employees here are "in a hurry". Be prepared to spit out your order, be prepared to pick up your order and run out of the building, and be prepared to receive the silent treatment, all of this depending on the stars, or occasionally. Other than that, Gourmet Gourmet is a winner. Solid.

This is one of the best take out Chinese restaurants. I've been going here for over twenty years, and the quality of the food is consistent and delicious. Not a place where you sit down and eat unless you are alone, straight up take out or delivery. Three things I look for is packaging, greasyness and taste. All are to my standards. I really like the general Tso chicken and special fried rice. The spring roles are hit or miss.

Good Chinese takeaway - Or you can eat in but beware, it is really really really small - nonetheless the service is good and the food is tasty. I would probably recommend you do pick or delivery and comfortably enjoy your food elsewhere. It is certainly worth it. Taken for what it is ...a small, no nonsense, good service, good food, takeaway or delivery. I'm craving Chinese food now - Szechuan Chicken anyone ???

Little hole in the wall chinese food place. It was located less than a block from the hotel we stayed in. It's more of a take out restaurant than an actual sit down. Had the mongolian beef and thoroughly enjoyed it. Their wonton soup, shrimp fried rice and cashew chicken was delicious as well. This restaurant is family owned and I can tell you that the family who owns this is absolutely friendly. Their phones kept ringing off the hook and yet they still took the time to talk to their customers. Ohh and this place is pretty cheap but apparently it's been around for some time in the area. We liked it so much that on that same night we decided to order some delivery for dinner.

Wow, really disappointed with this place! Starved and seeking out some semi-cheap Chinese food, I turned to Yelp, and was directed to Gourmet Gourmet. Had spring rolls, which weren't bad, and veggie lo mein which was really terrible. I mean, it had this odd flavor which made it basically inedible ... BF concurred and it went into the garbage. :( Leaving me still hungry. Not cool. BF had hot and sour soup, which tasted and smelled extremely odd as well - garbage it went, to join its friend. He also had spicy chicken wings, which were alright, and sesame chicken, also ok. Nothing stood out, tho. All in all, it's too much of a coincidence to receive two inedible items from one order. And a major disappointment when you're STARVING. The best thing about this entire order were the crunchy noodles. Ha. Their location is pretty weird, too. I mean, I wouldn't care if the food were delish, but when we picked up our food, they had to unlock the door for us and locked it again after we left. Kinda sketchy neighborhood I guess? Service was really friendly and nice though ... just wish the food had been better. We likely won't be back.

This was my first try at Gourmet Gourmet and it was great! Take out is the way to go as there is really no place to sit and eat. It's perfect if you are anywhere around the Gables! I've finally found my go-to Chinese!!!!!

Most people order take out and delivery, but if you eat it there, you will come back again and again!

alrighty .... below is my original review ... since then, Gourmet Gourmet has become my go to spot. the staff there are hilarious and incredibly nice ... the food is phenomenal -fresh cooked, every time ... and scrumdiddlyumptious to boot. doesn't matter what you get, you can't go wrong with Gourmet Gourmet! i just wish they delivered after 9 pm =( i actually live right down the street, a ten minute walk from gourmet gourmet ... so late one saturday night i realized i was craving chinese food, and since my favorite spots are at least 30 minutes away, i logged on to google and yelp to see if it was worth a try... i really can't give more than 4 stars since i've only ordered once, but the food was great ... spring rolls were fantastic, definitely the best i've had in a while ... the beef was absolutely incredible -tender and not at all chewy or rubbery, veggies were great and the sauce was absolutely delicious ... next time i get the itch for chinese, i'm gonna let gourmet gourmet scratch it.

this is a good chinese place in the gables, i order take out or eat in (im 5'7'' :-P ) at least once a month. the food is good and the portions are generous. and the lunch specials go from 6.25$ to 7.50$ (mon-sat 11:30am to 3pm) all lunch specials come with fried rice or steamed rice, or you could get noodles instead for 1$ more. free delivery for orders over 15$ the smoked salmon with cream cheese and spinach wontons are really tasty!!! michelle is right, this is not traditional chinese food by no means. but it is good stuff for sure!

Just to inform those who enjoyed good chinese food in the gables, I just tried calling to place an order and was surprised to hear a recording that they are no longer in business. Such a sad day for a chinese-food-lover :(

We ordered at 6:33 pm tonight and food just arrived at 8:56 pm. two hours and twenty three minutes after ordering. Unacceptable! Cold food, and no apology or discount. I ask for discount and grumpy delivery guy says no and takes food back!!! Leading up to this, I called repeatedly to check on status, we were ravenous and French lady who answers phone (and doesn't hear well) just keeps saying to be patient, it will come. No apology, just telling me, I'm begging you to be patient. Weird. On status request call number 3, I ask to speak to owner after an hour and a half of waiting. She says he will call back but he never does. Never order from here, very bad service and principles. Can't comment on food, but would not trust for delivery.

Food had no flavor and was soggy. Not good at all. Two dinners and the price was $40.00. Typically, Chinese takeout has combo options but not here. Just a poor choice unfortunately.

    (1)
  • Rachel V.

The food is really good. But yesterday I don't know what happened to the service. I ordered my food the man over the phone didn't even ask me cash or credit. So when the delivery man comes I had to call and pay over the phone and the weird part is that the delivery man snatches the credit card from me to get the number on it. Like what is that? I found that super weird.

Took a chance on this place for dinner with my girlfriend. The mixed reviews made me a bit cautious, so I decided to go and order at the restaurant for takeout. We also ran into the locked door problem some reviewers mentioned, but after that, everything was great. The staff was incredibly friendly and inviting; the kitchen was incredibly clean (as a chef, I can spot some of the more nuanced sanitation issues of which I saw none); in and out the door in about 10-15 min; and there is plentiful parking in the rear. Certainly not the best Chinese I've ever had in my life, but it was pretty good, nonetheless, and at a reasonable price. And I ate like a pig without a food coma...a rare feat for Chinese takeout. Overall, my girlfriend and I were thrilled with the experience and will certainly be returning. This place might seem pretty sketchy, but think of it like your favorite dive bar. It has all of the familiar symptoms of a typical, stomach pain-inducing, regret-filled takeout joint you've been to in the past . But at the end of the day, you know it was better than any other option out there.

Good stuff!!!! Delivery was on time, food was hot and tasty!!! The house fried rice was great! The thin rice noodles were also very good! Nothing bad to say about this place!!!

Chinese food in Miami is not real Chinese food but for the lack of authenticity in this city, this place is definitely one of the best for take out. Yummy, not too salty, fast and cheap

  • Adam S.

I think this is some of the better Chinese food I've found in the Miami area. That is to say, it is clearly above average Chinese takeout, but is not going to blow your socks off. The general tso's is good. Good taste with a nice sauce. I prefer mine a little spicier, but this version is spicy enough. I also had the smoked salmon and cream cheese wontons. They were pretty good too. I didn't care for the dipping sauce though. One thing I didn't care for is that they don't let you sub out the white rice for fried rice here. What's worse is that it costs like $7 for a pint of fried rice (which is the only way you can get fried rice from them with an entree). It was annoying, but what can you do? The quality of the Chinese is pretty solid here overall though.

I'm under the weather. Being sick is always tough, but food usually helps. So I decided to order some Chinese (anything Asian is my comfort food). But I wasn't so thrilled with the results. We decided to order General Tso's chicken, shrimp lo mein, an egg roll (to share), and some wonton soup. The lo mein was actually very tasty. It had some nice, large size shrimp in it, and the noodles were flavorful, without being overly sauced. The egg roll was crispy, and not too greasy, and had a nice dipping sauce. The wonton soup on the other hand was a little bland. It could've used more salt or maybe some soy. But the dumplings were tasty. My main issue, and biggest disappoint, was with the chicken. General Tso's is typically a sweet, fried chicken that's tender with a hint of spice. But this was sort of chewy, and a little bit tough. Also, the sauce was a bit muted. Worse yet, the whole dish was overpowered by a burnt taste. It tasted like a fire had been extinguished in this takeout container! I decided to call Gourmet Gourmet, to resolve the issue. But my complaints fell on death ears. The bottom line was that they've been in business over 20 years, so they know how to make good Chinese food. The woman who answers the phone, and takes orders, even put the chef on the line, but he again was uninterested in a resolution. A simple "I'm sorry you don't like the chicken, but allow us to send you a different dish, at 50% off", would've been fine. Or really any other gesture. I even said that if they couldn't resolve the issue, that I wasn't ordering from them again. But that didn't make a dent in the situation either. They have some good food, but the General Tso's isn't one of their best dishes. And on a side note, doing something for a long time doesn't necessarily mean your good at it.

I ordered from this place because of the raving reviews. This was my first time trying a Chinese place out here in Miami (I'm from VA) and to be quite honest it wasn't "the best." Their general tso's was okay in my opinion, but I've had better. Their combination fried rice and lo mein wasn't anything exciting. Very bland. I must say their service was great though.

I ordered delivery. After he took my order he hung up too fast for me to get the total price. I ordered beef and broccoli dinner size with crab rangoon and a can of soda so I wasn't to worried about it. It should have came to about $16, according too the menu online. They said it would take 45 min to arrive. It took them 1 hr and 15 min and the total was $23.90 + $2.00 delivery charge. It wasn't very tasty, was pretty bland. The beef was chewy and half of the crab rangoons were soggy. After my hunger pains went away I couldn't finish. Waste of time and money!! The soda was the best part

  • Lily C.

Gave it a try despite some of the bad reviews and I'm glad I did! The fried rice was great! The honey garlic chicken was over battered for my taste... but that's something personal. I will definitely be back!

First I would like to start with the fried wontons that I ordered. Maybe it's just me but I have never had a fried wonton without meat, with that being said the wonton was crispy and tasty. I also ordered the chicken and broccoli and asked for it to be made spicy. The chicken and broccoli was not spicy and was bland. I was expecting more with so many good reviews.

I'm begining to think that the food rating bar is much lower in Miami than in SF. I definitely think that more Yelping is needed in this town. Don't get me wrong. I've tasted some excellent Cuban and Spanish food around here (Coral Gables en la sauwesera chico) but when it comes to other world flavors, Miami just keeps missing the mark. I don't think this place deserves the solid 4 star rating that it has but maybe I missed something. Exhausted from unpacking all day, we decided to order something for delivery. Having had my fill of croquetas for the moment, (I'll start eating them again tomorrow, trust me) we decided on Chinese. Although I wanted to do take out at PF Chang's, I just wasn't in the mood to drive to Brickell on a Saturday night, so I called these guys and ordered: 1- Chicken Fried Rice. 2- Sweet and sour chicken. 3- Eggplant in brown sauce. The order arrived within the 45 minutes quoted and the food was hot, well packaged and decent (options 1 and 3 above) but option 2 was just plain insipid with a very runny sauce in a separate container. Anyway, definitely a solid 3 star place for the competent service. I will keep their menu in the drawer but continue the search for good (not cheap) Chinese, even if it means driving to PF Chang's. Shie shie!

By far the freshest and cleanest Chinese food in Miami. The general Tso Chicken is done the right way here. I have been ordering from them since they were located in Coral Gables. I highly recommend this place.

We ordered delivery to the Hotel St Michel and the food arrived in 30 minutes, screaming ass hot, incredible flavor and huge and I mean huge portions! Very reasonable prices and great person who took the order and the delivery guy was great also. You won't go wrong ordering from these guys!

This is the scariest place I've ever been to. I was tired after a day of business in Miami and saw the four star review. Something must be very, very, very wrong. This was like out of a scary movie. When I went to the door it was locked I thought they were closed and the guy came to the door and opened it and let me in. It's basically a takeout place. They serve me in a Styrofoam take-out container on there Bar where people can eat inside. The characters behind the counter were scarier. The wonton soup was bland and the shrimp with vegetables was acceptable even if it was a small portion. This is a don't go to place unless you're starving and find yourself in this not so good neighborhood.

Fast and hot delivery. Ordered a variety of dishes but they all tasted pretty the same. Best Chinese delivery in the Gables area by far. Just wish it had a more diverse flavor.

WOK MASTER I first discovered this most authentic Chinese cafe adjacent to the reknown Miami favorite La Rosa Bakery some three years ago. Ten years before this location Owner Chef Jose Sang was already doing his magic wok thing in Coral Gables for at least two decades. The kitchen is equivalent to the size of three eastern king beds side by side. A two burner wok stove, a deep frier, and four telephones ringing of the hook answered by relatives. The proficiency level in their battle station environment is off the chart. Pei Wei doesn't come close. Here's the caveat... the front door is locked/blocked and you can only enter through the back where you may find a free parking space. A very small unlit sign hangs over the unglamorus entry way. Once you enter, stay to the right, follow your nose, and walk towards the front. One two seat ultra small table and the counter in front of the kichen is all you'll see. On top of the counter are all sorts of take out containers along with many upright and opened paper bags waiting to be fulfilled with their call in orders. Food in general is very much like picking perfume or flowers. Partiality to frequency and colors is unique to the individual. The taste of Coca Cola is not universally homogeneous. For instance in China they add more sugar to their soda drink. Here in Miami the Cubans are a dominate culture and so the flavor expectations are unique to them while never acquiring the taste for spicy cuisines. When you receive your order, the paper bag will be heavy in weight, hot to the touch and oozing with the most appetizing bouquet attributed to Chef Sang's wok mastery!

Yummy! For Miami, this is a 5star Chinese delivery joint. (In California it'd be a 3.) best Chinese I've had here other than Tropical... But much more affordable than Tropical. This is going to be our go-to for takeout and delivery!

  • Cristy M.

I had ordered from here previously for delivery and remember it being much better. We ordered take out last night and were not that impressed. The honey garlic chicken was good but overall flavor was weak. And for $14 you'd think the double yellow gourmet chow mein would be amazing - but it wasn't. I added a ton of soy and it still didn't taste like much. We didn't make a dent in it and ended up tossing the left overs.

From the outside you might not want to go in. It looks very shady, and you even park in a strange back-alley parking lot where you think you might get mugged. But it is hands down--some of the best chinese I have had in over 15 years--! I went here because of Yelp (thank you fellow Yelpers/Foodies)! I had egg rolls, salmon rangoons (amazing), a thinly cut chicken dish--with crispy spinach (tasted like candy-and yes, I know how that sounds) (you have to try this!), and General Tsao's. General Tsao's was nothing to write home about (it was a good version but it didn't stand high above any other that I've had before. The chef was a master though! I got to watch him make my food. He didn't measure anything and you could tell when he was in the zone. He has been a chef for well over 40 years. There was a picture on the wall with him from the Dominican Republic from 1972 at a restaurant he worked at. He also spoke 3 languages that I heard (not that it makes the food taste any better--but it was cool to hear!) As soon as I put the egg roll in my mouth--I was like "This is the best egg roll I have had in years"! Soo good! I will be back!

I drove 20 blocks to get this food and had only 20 minutes to get back to the office. When I returned to the office, the rice was missing; WTF! When I called, pretty much was my responsability by the person who attended the phone. The teriyaki chicken tasted like mall food.

Whenever I want to have Chinese food take out, this is the place I'm always ordering it from. The fried rice is very tasty and not greasy at all. I have also had the beef with broccoli that has always been really good. The honey chicken is the best I have had. The food just tastes really good and fresh, not like in other Chinese take-out places where the food tasted as if its been sitting there for a while. If you want good Chinese take-out, then I believe this is the best place to get it from.

Great piping hot fresh food, love their honey garlic chicken and general tso's is good too. Hunan beef is a little to be desired, but this is a nice hole in the all spot with some great food. little pricey though

This is my go-to place for ordering Chinese food. They have so many tasty options!! The Honey Chicken, Mongolian Beef, and Lo Mein are the BEST things on the menu. They're affordable too, and delivery is always timely. The food here never disappoints! They will also do catering for a party, if you tell them with time.

Food gets three stars, service is five. Average for a four if that makes sense. I ordered kung pao chicken and fried wontons. It was pretty generic Chinese food. Decent, but not great. The wontons were weird. I was expecting something like a pot sticker, but they were basically huge sheets of fried dough with like a pinch of pork in one corner. Interesting, but I wouldn't order it again. I ordered for pick up and the staff was extremely nice.

    (4)
  • John S.

Wow, is this place over rated. Been here 3x's and it was a very bland every single time I have picked up food here. It was fresh, at least I guess. My general tso 's chicken was burnt so bad, that every single piece had black char marks on it. And it tasted like charcoal, it was probably the worst single Chinese meal I have ever had.

    (2)
  • Alex L.

    (4)
  • Kelly O.

  • Cristy M.

Our go to place for Chinese take out. I normally order the mangolian beef with the fried rice. The fried rice is always fresh. I didn't give it 5 stars because I was not a fan of the spare ribs which I love Chinese spare ribs. The food always comes hot and they always get it right.

  • El T.

  • Art W.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
