I love the quaintness and decor of the place. Service very attentive. I went here for lunch and had the Frenchy Sandwich. The French bread is sooo soft. Very tasty. Filling but not over the top. Parking is plentiful and right In front. The price is great for lunch and moderate for dinner. This restaurant has been here a long time. I just love coming here.

The food was ok. Wished they had more french cuisine. Seems like they mixed Argentinian with French. Croissants would be nice. Not even that. Service was good so that's why the 2.

This is a small and cute little spot with lots of variety of foods. I ordered a crepe and it was great! Great for lunch specials. The service is great. Everything made you feel right at home. Food was also fresh and served quickly!

Don't be fooled this place is not a French restaurant !!! The owner is Argentinian and the menu is all but French. If you look for a French restaurant go to cafe Pastis in Sunset Staff is nice, menu is reasonably priced but not French

Just because this restaurant is run by an Argentinian with experience in Italian cooking doesn't mean it has to bad French food. And as another reviewer pointed out but is incorrect, the vegetables are not canned. They are horrendously overcooked but lacked the over salted and metallic taste of canned green beans. Still terrible. Fruit is far from ripe. Chicken is tough and tasteless. Salad is like the salad you'd get from a typical Cuban restaurant (iceberg, unripe tomato wedge, balsamic vinegar on the side). Nearly $100 with tip to feed a family of four, everyone left hungry and dissatisfied. Le Provencal on Coral Way, that is where you spend $100 and are happy. Bistro Foly on Old Cutler Road in Palmetto Bay, another $100 well spent. This place with their rehydrated mash potatoes (as in just add water, from the box) on an adult meal... inexcusable. Escargot was okay. Mozzarella sticks were okay. Pink sauce on the pasta was terrible. It would have been better from a jar. Don't go here. You would do better at the checkers in the same shopping center. If you want French, Bistro Foly is great and nearby. Le Provincal is also great, farther away. Side note, the place way clean and nice enough, service was acceptable.

I love this place!! The food is always delicious! I am sure to visit them on Thursdays. Why? Because the chicken hunter is amazing! My favorite dish by far! Also, Thursday is when it is on special! The servings are huge and way worth it. The food is FRESH. The service is always great! It's a little hole in the wall and family owned if I'm not mistaken. This is one of my favorite places I found randomly, and I will recommend this to anyone that likes great food, prices, and great service!

This place is not French. Very far from it. As another reviewer said it is Argentinian. All that aside the food was terrible. They serve canned vegetables and mashed potatoes made from powder. Not sure how this place is even open. Staff was nice though.

This is a great spot, homemade cocking and excellent selection of meat, fish, seafood and pasta. Excellent attention and great pricing. You will eat as a king at a great price. Highly recommended...

Always an option when in need of a good & quick bite to eat. The staff are friendly and their food always tastes great. I LOVE their salad dressing so much I bought some to take home!

This is the kind of restaurant that saves your life when you need a well-cooked home-made dish to get you through the day, especially if you have kids. Don't be intimidated by the "French" in the name. They have all kinds of food, and it's all delicious. Best of all, it's very affordable. They have great lunch specials even on weekends. The french fries are perfect every time. Some of my favorites are the Breaded Chicken Breast and the Chicken Hunter. Don't expect a fancy five-star restaurant, expect a place that treats you like family and always welcomes you with a great meal.

Wanted to try something new but still close to home. Was Hoping to maybe find a local hidden gem....well this place is not that gem. It had a casual feel. Didn't take anytime to be seated since it was not busy at all on a Friday night. Waiters were nice, but wish they would have checked on us a little more often. (Considering it wasn't a full house) I found myself waiting for a water refill twice. The food was mediocre. Didn't taste bad, but lacked flavor. The marinara sauce for the mozzarella cheese sticks, was a bit watery and lacked flavor. The cheese sticks tasted better without it. I ordered the French onion soup, it looked good but again lacked flavor and seemed a watered down. For my main dish I ordered the steak sandwich. I was disappointed. No flavor. Unfortunately we won't be coming back.

Perfect place for a girl's night out! Amazing food, amazing service and all at an affordable price. I love this restaurant in every possible way. If you expect snobby French, think again! The restaurant is unassuming, cozy, and welcoming. True hidden gem! I think some of the reviews on here that are negative, expect upscale fancy dishes, again, they're much more casual and offer home style comfort food. Simple, yet with layers and layers of flavors. Highly recommend!

Great please to eat! The breaded chicken is awesome! Portions are big. The polenta reminded me of my childhood. Simple but good!

This is a small casual cute restaurant! They have the best lobster bisque soup in Miami..however, it is only served on Friday,Saturday, and Sunday only! Very good prices, good quality food, and very nice attentive service!

What a delight. I kept reading good reviews, and even know someone who goes often, but I was hesitant to try this little bistro when I saw that the restaurant was never crowded. Big mistake, go! The food was delicious, the service spot on, and if it's early, before 6:30PM, and you're hungry, take advantage of their $11.99 early bird special that is not to be believed.

What a lovely breakfast at French Bistro. Good latte, delicious breakfast, charming staff and lovely ambiance. I'm in Brickell and it's well worth it to walk over the bridge. Merci.

Excellent food, service and ambiance. The salad and the bread are unforgettable. The service is perfect as the location (right across the Falls shopping center)

Love, Love, Love this place! From the warm yummy bread, to the amazing French chicken to the welcoming family atmosphere! Great little hidden place. I had the lentil soup, which tasted just like mom use to make, delish! The french chicken with the mash potatoes was very tasty. Loved the family feel, the owner and the staff make you feel like family. Can't wait to go again!

I haven't been to this restaurant in 8 years because I'd had a bad experience when I saw them re-serve the bread in the baskets from old diners to new. Now it's 2015, I saw the great Yelp rating and thought I'd try it again. The food was served very very fast and was unremarkable. I had chicken w/asparagus & it looked like chef dumped a can of cream of asparagus onto a thinly pounded out breast filet. The giveaway was how salty it tasted - that's a sign of canning. My friend had a Greek salad and we both had wine. The owner made a HUGE deal out of refusing our groupon, yelling that we were bad, claimed we never mentioned our groupon & waived his arms saying and salad doesn't count as an entree (where were those terms in the groupon? They weren't there.) His behavior was so offensive I left a big tip, paid for the meal outright and left with a promise to never return. Glad to put that particular restaurant behind me. I guess some things never change.

Absolutely horrible!!!!! Had a groupon so decided to try this place out. Atmosphere was cute but food was disgusting!! Potatoes were flavorless, veggies frozen with no seasoning and fish was completely inedible! Stay away!!!

I've been going to this little hidden gem for many, many years and it saddens me to see that some of the other reviewers irresponsibly almost with some sort of weird personal vendetta (?) leave terrible reviews like the one about the bread in the basket not doing their share of research as the restaurant was under different management back then and in no way reflects the current restaurant nor how its run. The place is more of an International Continental Cuisine, it has food from Argentina, France, Cuba and Italy. The food is simple, flavorful and high quality. The atmosphere is casual, warm and inviting. I have never had a problem with any of the items I've ordered. They use fresh ingredients, maybe not like the over flavored, high sodium ingredients now commonly rampant in most restaurants, but its refreshing for food to taste like its originally meant to. While I'm personally not a fan of the vegetables, the sauces such as the mushroom sauce from the Chicken hunter are great. Restaurant owners can't taste every dish and sometimes chefs occasionally drop the ball, but I have no doubts that if you bring up any complaints to the manager he/she would not only be grateful, but would also make the necessary changes to please his clientele. For the price, the restaurant is exceptional. And its also refreshing to still have these types of family run businesses around that should be supported rather than the common chain restaurants that microwave their food and mask flavor with salt.

Excellent service. Great food. Me and my brother went to french bistro with one of our friends for the weekend brunch. We live 5 minutes away so we didn't call to make reservations. We were greeted by the manager and we were seated pretty quickly. Our waiter brought us the lunch menu. We asked for the brunch menu but the manager apologized and told us that the only day they have brunch is on Sunday's. We were a bit disappointed because it was only 11:30 and we were in the mood for eggs and coffee. We apologized and decided that we would go somewhere else and return another Sunday to french bistro. As we proceeded to leave the owner came after us and asked us to stay and told us that the chef would able to accommodate us with basic breakfast items such as omelets and pancakes. We were happy with that and went back in. My brother ordered chicken omelet and our friend ordered the Mediterranean omelet. They had a crispy calamari salad as the daily special and I ordered that. The food came out pretty quick. The quality was great. Both omelets came with roasted potatoes that were delicious. Also included warm french bread. My salad was arugula and radishes with a tangy dressing that complemented the calamari perfectly. I suggested french bistro to many of our friends and we will certainly go back.

I thought I had found a good, consistent nice little place to eat. Food was good not great with a varied menu. After 3 visits that went well enough I wanted to take my daughter who had not been there and I guess I raised her expectations we'd have a nice lunch experience since I'd been there 3 times already. Things did not go well. We tried to order two different soups which they said they were out of including the French onion soup. A French bistro running out of a signature french soup? Apparently we just needed to wait 5 more minutes to order it because other tables were getting that soup soon thereafter. After the waiter took our order we never saw him again. It took a long time to get a couple salads, the place only had 4 tables occupied. Nobody checked on us except to bring the check. I raised my concern about the soup issue to a server who blamed everything on the waiter that we never saw again and apologized. Service was lacking that day and the salads were mediocre. Not sure we'll try it again.

My to-go spot for lunch. A good home cooked meal from a family owned business. When choosing between a quick bite at a fast food rest or chain , this place is the way to go. I usually call in my lunch special and it's only a few dollars more then fast food. May not be the date night spot but a good spot for locals.

Had dinner here with my family on the last day our Groupon was expiring. I will never eat there again. Where do I begin? First and foremost: this is not a french restaurant. Frankly I don't know what to call it, nor do I care....Faux french onion soup, check. Instant mashed potatoes, check. Pasty, bland pink sauce on seafood pasta dish, check. Foul tasting marinara sauce on my son's gnocchi dish, check (he had a stomach ache later that night). Tough as nails ultra thin grilled chicken, check. Drastically over-cooked side vegetables, check. Stale lemon meringue pie, check. Check, check, check! When the check arrived they had tacked on an automatic 15% tip for a party of 4. Waitress said it was the owners order since it was a Groupon. Too bad, I would have left my usual 20% tip since the waitress was not to blame for the lousy food and the service was good. As a previous poster stated, dinner at Checkers in the same mall would have been so much better!

Yeah... NO! This place is small and quaint! Which is fine! But right from the start with the appetizers you could tell that the quality of food was below average. The lunch sandwiches were just sandwiches. Nothing worth coming back to this place. True.. I haven't had everything on the menu, and quite frankly they might make a signature dish that will knock your socks off.. But there are plenty of other places worth eating at that are better all around!

  • Earl V.

I noted there were mixed reviews to this place so I decided to give it a try. Food was below average, they do serve canned vegetables, I ordered sea bass which was bland but disguised with a lot of sauce poured on it. Waited a long time for waiter to pay my bill, finally had to get up to deliver bill/credit card to waiter as he chatted with friends. A repeat visit is unlikely.

Why this place is called French Bistro I will never know. The menu is a combo of Argentinian and Italian food. It's located in a strip mall off of US1 and 137th street across from The Falls. The service was good, very attentive and personal. So personal that I think the picture of the guy on the place mat was our waiter! There was an "older crowd" at the restaurant and it felt like this was a place for regulars. The décor was kind of French I guess, they had a sunflower and blue print plastered everywhere. When I say everywhere I mean everywhere, the tables, prints on the walls, the place mats, and the tablecloth. The place mats were really thick and kept getting in the way while we were trying to eat. Here's my summary of what we had... Bread - Good but it was parboiled bread which is one of my pet peeves. Take the time to make real bread! Escargot - Not impressed, they were in an oil based sauce.. we were expecting a garlic butter. French Onion Soup - Good beefy flavor a little thin for onion soup. Mixed Grill for 2 - I didn't think it was worth the $25 we paid, most of the meats were bland and it included some suspicious items which I later found out were sweetbreads and blood sausage. Crème Brulee - It was grainy and a little too sugary. French Bistro ... sorry this was our first and last experience with you guys.

What an amazing secret little spot. The food and service are like no other. You can tell that everything is made with love :) awesome lunch specials. You must try their house salad. The dressing is unbelievably delicious!

Please change the name! Out by the end of the world (136 st) I saw a sign, on my way to Panera, $7.95 lunch special at French Bistro. Wow! French food for the same price of a sandwich!! Maybe my disappointment is that I expected French and got an Argentinean take on 'continental' cuisine. The Special of the Day was Sea Bass in Mango Sauce. Lucky me, this is indeed the Frenchiest of the daily specials. The fish had no salt and the sauce barely had any sweetness. What a bland combination, it all tasted the same To pull this dish off in real French fashion the cook must create a contrast of flavors. The two stars are because service was impeccable, and I sat in the terrace in a beautiful day.

I agree with the other reviewer who advised not to be intimidated by the word 'French' in the name of this place, this restaurant has nothing French (dulce de leche in lieu of caramel??). If you think this is like home made food, please do not invite me over for dinner.. So the two stars are because the service was excellent and attentive.

What a lunch! This place reminds me of a real european place with a daily "menu" (special with main, side and salad) for about $7... I kid you not. The food - great. I have not had dinner, but the lunch is wonderful and prices are so reasonable, you will find yourself adding more to tip. And the service is very good, and the people very kind. We even had to two kids with us, and the staff was just wonderful. A previous reviewer hit the nail on the head - great place to have a "home cooked meal". enjoy.

Dear French Bistro, I became a fan the first and only time I set foot in here, just a couple of weeks ago. It was a Sunday afternoon and we were trying to decide what we would do for dinner. It was nice and quiet when we arrived, with just one other table present at the time. We chose our table and our water was quickly brought to us. There was a lot of items on the menu that I wanted to try, so I started with the French Onion soup that the bf and I shared. It was just perfect. I found it very tasty, full of flavor, and just delicious. It had just the right amount of onions, cheese and of course the yummy pice of soggy bread in the middle. :) For my meal I had the Top Sirloin Steak Sandwich, which came on french bread with the sirloin steak, grilled onions, shoestring potato sticks, and mayonnaise. Oh, and of course, as with any steak sandwich I order, I ensured you put cheese on it. :) It was REALLY good. Although I would call this the Italian/Argentinian version of a Pan Con Bistec. :) The bf ordered the Grilled Skirt Steak, and since he saw that a few other steaks came with a mushroom sauce, he asked for the same mushroom sauce to come on the side. I ended up dipping my sandwich in the sauce it was SO good! It was like a marsala mushroom sauce. The bf's steak was perfect and tasty. It came with a salad, fries, and veggies, which I shared. Everything was really tasty. I was glad we found you French Bistro! One thing I liked is that you really got packed throughout the time we were there. Before we knew it almost every table was seated. And, it seemed that everyone knew your staff and managers. I saw lots of hugs going around every time a new party walked in. So that made us conclude that this place has a lot of regulars. And where there's regulars, you know it's got to be good! Thanks for a great meal. Looking forward to return. All the best, SabrinaAnna*

Ooooh French bistro I wanted so bad for us to work out and fall in love I really really really wanted to give you 4 stars. Let me start out by saying I would give you 5 stars if not more on service alone. The staff was nice and courteous. No wait time!!! perfect, specially if you have kids. The hostess sat us right away, we chose outside seating so our little ones wouldn't disturb others. Drinks and bread basket arrived promptly after sitting down. They also brought out a small plate of black and green olives to accompany the bread. I though that was a nice different touch to brake up the good ol bread basket routine. The food eeehhhh not so happy. I guess I missed the memo but I didn't get the French Bistro vibe out of this. Sure they had French Onion soup and Fillet Mignon but pasta with marinara sauce, green beans, and rice for side order????? I don't get it. We spent 70.00$ on a meal for 4. Honestly for the quality of food we got I think it was not worth it. The bathrooms were clean, establishment looks a little outdated but it was clean. So sorry French Bistro but it looks like it's adieux from me.

French Bistro is Amazing!!! It's Miami's best kept secret. Everything is home-made. Great casual environment. Danny the owner, is hilarious, he makes his restaurant feel like home. The french chicken is delicious! The house salad dressing really is unbelievable. Great service, great prices, fresh food, all across one of the best unassuming restaurants in Miami. It's tucked in on the side of a strip mall and yet probably one of the best dining experiences I've had in a very long time. Highly recommend! Also, they now have Empanadas which are Danny's wife's recipe. Yum! Go for the ham and cheese! You won't be disappointed.
