As I was rushing to get to class in the morning , a rush of coffee deprivation came over me . I also didn't have breakfast so my hunger was getting me grumpy. Upon walking up to register , the place was definitely clean . I greeted two employess and they did not pay me any mind. This immediately upset me because in my line of work I take customer service seriously . Thank God for an employee named Maria . She turned my experience from sour to sweet! For breakfast I had three scrambled eggs , tostada and a cafe con leche. The coffee was on point just like I ordered. Did I mention super cheap ?! Exactly what I need for my college budget . Upon waiting for my food I accidently dropped the cocos on the counter and I immediately offered to pay for them but Maria did not charge me and that was very kind of her to do so. You don't see that treatment in these places nowadays . Great place to try authentic Cuban food and sweets ! I will be back to try the batido de mamey

Please don't try the minutas, have one today and they are super acid with a lot of lemon, the rest is ok, the chicharrones really good but never try minutas again.

Super Cheap eats, and absolutely delicious, perfectly fresh orange juice. The Pan con Lechon is loaded with pork. No fixins, of course. So hopefully you have a lot of hot sauce to throw on cuz it can get pretty dry. The Pan con Bistek is incredible. Thin steak fried up, som ecrispy shoestring fries, lettuce, tomato, onion. For $4? Don't mind if I do. Actually, I think I'll go take a walk right now...

My first time here and stopped by due to all the raving reviews. I personally will not go as far and state this is the best Cuban food in Miami. However, it is good quality food at an unbelievably low price. I actually thought the cashier had made a mistake when she told me the total. The chicken plank steak was wonderfully seasoned and the picadillo was very, very tasty. My only beef (no pun intended)and as you have probably already read, the folks working here are from different vendors. Thus, if you are ordering white rice w/chicken and desire white rice with pork, you will have to pay for the rice and chicken at vendor #1 and order and pay for rice and pork at vendor #2. They obviously decide and have some sort of non-compete understanding as it relates to meals, as I do not recall seeing the same items being offered from vendor to vendor. Additionally, they have incredible fresh juices that can be purchased by the 1/2 gallon without any preservatives. After sampling the Tamarindo, Mango and Guava, I am a believer. The fruit juices were fresh and very tasty, just like mother nature intended for us to enjoy. No indoor seating. All dining is outdoor on typical average outdoor furniture. Thus, it is very important you do not decide to stop by one of those unusually cold Miami evenings. All in all a very unusual (in a good way) place to stop by for lunch and for dinner. I will definitely revisit.

No doubt Cuba reminded me, girls do not give you good night, you just talk like those coffee shops in Cuba and only miss me "comrade" The account you say it verbally and do not give receipt, in fact it seems q If you are in Cuba.

Um... Enough grub to feed 5 people...for $18.00? Count me in. Enough grub to feed 5 people, an induce food coma that leads to setting your aunt & uncle's bathroom on fire?* I had no choice. The mountainous piles of greasy Cuban cuisine were too enticing for me to say no. The yellow arroz con pollo, glistening and bright with red peppers and peas was filling and delicious. Not the best I've had, but definitely good, and an incredible value. An even better value would be a container of Lechona y Moros, enough food for two. The women just fill the container up with moist and flavorful pork with onions, and artery clogging black beans and rice. Both of which hit the spot. Of everything we ordered, it was the juices that were most expensive. $11.00 for 3 juices? Blasphemy! I'd be willing to pay that much in NYC, but knowing that juices cost more than half of our food felt wrong! If you want an inexpensive taste of Miami, this is the place to go. If you aren't convinced by the above review, know this: El Palacio made the moros for my aunt's wedding. So there. * True story. Everything is fine.

Thus far one of the best fast food establishments I have come across, ever! Drive thur and all. Cheap, fast, great flavor and, I assume, the service but my Spanish is a little rusty. Maybe it was because I was the only American born and raised white boy in the place. Remember to tip. The food is a go! Every time I hit Miami, this is the place to eat.

Can't go wrong with a pan con bistec and some watermelon juice from this place. Especially this location, which is much cleaner and better than some other locations. Ever since this place opened, I've gone from time to time to taste their Cuban specialties. Me being fond of this kind food, this place is like a dream come true. A long row of warm, freshly made food sits behind glass, waiting to be served. I do prefer their sandwiches, though, from the 'cafe' section. Their juice by the half gallon is also great, but VERY expensive (about $6). Nonetheless, I'll shell out the money for a nice jug of delicious watermelon juice to be residing in my fridge. One time I went and ordered the pork with congri and tostones and it cost about $7.50 and was enough for two people. Other times we'll go and pick up just some rice or a side to serve with a homemade dish here. There is something for everyone here, wether you want juices, sandwiches, complete meals, or just a simple side. The only downside here is that the whole place is basically outdoors. If it is raining or windy, good luck having your food at the place. You'll have to eat in the car, or take it home. Sometimes the staff looks at you suspiciously, as if you're from another planet. They also have a small market with fresh fruit and vegetables, but I've never bought anything from there.

Cheap Cuban food, fresh fruits and vegetables, and freshly squeezed juices? Count me in. It's definitely a one of a kind experience when you come here, but Palacio de Los Jugos has never failed me. Sure they prepared food isn't exactly the healthiest (what Cuban food is??), but it's good and its cheap. Hec, my abuela sometimes comes here in the "transporte" and loads up on food for the week with just two dinner plates! There's enough food there to last her the week and I don't think she's ever paid more than $10 (that may be a Cuban exaggeration there, but you catch my drift)! The fresh fruits and vegetables are also good and cheap and you tend to find some "tropical" fruits and vegetable which you don't often find at the local market. The freshly squeezed juices here are also delicious and refreshing.

Stopped by to try some of their juices, ordered the Mango juice and orange juice. The MANGO juice was Fantastic!!! The O.J. was very bland next to the Mango juice. I took the drive-thru option, and I felt I was in another country. Ofcourse, she didn't speak any English, but I asked if I can pay with my credit card and she 1. asked for my i.d. 2. there was a minimum purchase and 3. i had to sign the merchants copy! OLD SCHOOL. Would like to try their foods next time.

Words sometimes fail to describe a place. This is a casual Cuban grocery store/sandwich shop/take out with outdoor seating under an awning. Everything looked great. If you get to go, I wish you luck in deciding how to narrow down your options. Pray that your Spanish is up, because it's tough to order in English. That said, I got the pan con bistek (steak) sandwich, a fresh coconut juice and an order of fried plantains (maduros), it was about $11 total. I had to order the sandwich and juice at one counter, and the plantains at another (a huge serving for $2.14!), but it was totally worth it. I know they are open 24-hours, and it is calling my name now, but I will do what I can to resist until it is actually time to eat again.

O savior of grim dispositions, squelching this short fuse with fresh lemonade weak innards lined with rich rice & moros dried pores newly drenched in moistened lechona despite anorexia of wallet what's up tho' with having to stand in three different lines?

What a treat to finally find authentic Cuban food. Make sure you come hungry and make sure you check your diet at the door. I had the best ropa vieja and lechon asado EVER!! If you leave room for a batido, have it. I will never be able to visit Miami without making a stop at Palacio de los Jugos ever again.

This is a unique experience to Miami. They have the best mango juice you will ever drink. IT can be bought by the glass for $2 or by the half gallon for $7. The fruit is fresh and they have great fresh cheese and they set the bar with their rendition of tres leches. They are a chain but this is the best location. They are not as busy as the 8th St location and they seem to be cleaner as well. Their meals are decent, cheap, and very large. If you live in Miami you have to know about this place and if your visiting t is a great authentic Miami experience.

Came here for dinner. I thought my BF was going to share but he wanted to eat all of his. After seeing so much food in front of me I kinda got full. Wierd! Well we decided to take it home because it was freezing and the place is outdoor eating and I hate when my food gets cold. I order the Cuban version of fried rice, chicken breast and plantains. The lady filled the container to the max where she had to push it down to close. That was like dinner for two. I love the Mamey juice and I come here for the 1/2 gallon of this stuff. But tonight we got the half gallon of watermelon juice for the BF as its his favorite. Food was good and the juice was fresh and the price was right for after the holiday wallet.

Two recent (lunch & dinner) visits to this location plus today's lunch at the original Flagler & 57th Ave. Why has it taken me this long to discover this place? Paella can't be beat for the value - real squid and plenty of shrimps and scallops. Broiled Snapper - $11. Four co-workers ordered a variety of things and everyone enjoyed it. Mamey juice...nice!!

This place is the bomb that is why being latino/latina is so great. The ethnicity and food culture is amazing. For those of you who haven't been here go and get food. Its cheap and they serve you a bulk of food as if you've never eaten in your life.

  • Samantha F.

This place is pretty good! I have gone here several times. It's a food place and a grocery store at the same time. I like to buy my fruits here because they don't have them in local grocery stores. The only problem is that it's more Spanish speakers than English speakers! Plus, it 24 hours--half the time and packed like 75% of the time. But is pretty good!

The smoothies rock! The food is a hit or miss depending on the hour you arrive so try to get there before 2pm. It's not a great dinner place, most of the cooking is done all at once in the early morning. Keep in mind this isn't really a restaurant either. It's food by the pound so if you are buying for a large group, then it works. Otherwise, you will be tossing most of the food out. The fish is fresh, but they don't really offer any salad options. Just because you like latin food, doesn't mean it has be unhealthy. It's OKAY for me, which means its GREAT by most peoples' standards.

This place is fantastic. I always have a difficult decision to make about what I want to eat. There are so many options and everything looks delicious. You are served big portions and the price is great. When I am in town, Palacio is on my list to visit.

This place is the place to go when you are hungry! Everything is super-sized. The food is hot and fresh and filled with standard Cuban food fare; I came here to pick up food for a sick friend. We picked up, rice, black beans, braised ox tail (rabo), moros (rice and black beans cooked together), roasted pork, fried sweet plantains, fried green plantains. These were two meals and four of us ate and there was still food left over! We also purchased, mamey flan and guarapo (sugar cane juice). This is THE place to go when you are hungry and broke! It is always delicious and fresh and I can't wait to return (and return, and return...) and try all the different dishes. It is a fun place to eat with out door seating and a good crowd. Don't miss the chicharrones (fried pork cracklings) they are way better than you think but you must arrive hungry. My friend was up on his feet and eating in no time!

This one is located in the same place where Rancho Los Cocos used to be. It is just as good as the other ones in the chain, except that this place has been revamped and improved - the 3.99 breakfast is simply unbeatable. For those of you who remember, Los Cocos used to be a similar concept, sadly, they had to closed down to illness in the family and we ended up being the brokers involved in selling the land to EL Palacio de Los Jugos. I liked their new look and everything is recently redone. There is no better experience in Miami than sitting outside and having one of the great freshly squeezed juices and just about any item in the menu is good and representative. The best freshly squeezed lemonade west of US1 - Their 3.99 breakfast special is unbeatable !!!! I like it !!!

Of the three locations I beloieve this one is the best! Go there to eat & also remember to ask for the big containers to take home. order a bunch of rice and sides (tostones, maduros, etc) and for a college student like me your in hot meal heaven!!! Must have the chinesse rice!!!

The guys serving the sandwiches were extremely courteous and happy to help! They only spoke Spanish which made things a little difficult, but I could figure out what they were saying when they were asking what toppings I wanted. Extremely low prices and delicious sandwhiches! This is not my favorite of the three El Palacio de los Jugos locations I have visited, because of the layout and I don't think they had a large hot item selection in comparison, but it was still delicious!

one word....wow! was in miami for the day and I asked a local friend where we were eating lunch at. the name is VERY misleading, and had me thinking i was going to a health nut place. man was I shocked when we got there. the smell was OUT OF THIS WORLD! insane amounts of spanish flavors just wafting around the big ass fan "properly labled big ass fan" i was at a loss of words, they present the food in a buffet style line. They have a picture menu that only reads in spanish. pointing works, even if they mess up your order you will be fine because im sure everything tastes amazing. I ordered the BBQ pork "pincho" with chicken and yellow rice. most buffet style places will spoon the food onto the trays, they were literally shoveling the rice into the styro container. one serving could easily feed 2-3 people. my girlfriend ordered the roast pork with white rice/black beans. we sat down with enough food to feed a small family for 18 bucks. we also ordered tostones that were the size of a small plate. I was amazed at the food quality they offer. if you are ever in miami you owe it to yourself to stop here and eat. living in key west, i am willing to make the trip up and back just for lunch/dinner/breakfast/bored and want to take a ride. The juices are also a very high point here. everything is fresh squeezed. I ordered guarapo "sugar cane" and man its incredible. so sweet and refreshing. we also got a watermelon juice, and a few cold opened coconuts. I cannot recommend this place enough. i also cannot wait till my next miami trip. I plan on bringing back about 4 plates of food

We have tried all the locations, this one though is by far the best. Huge portions of food that always taste fresh for dirt cheap. The area is also a lot cleaner then some of the others and ambiance is nicer too.

If you want the Cuban experience I recommend you visit. You can buy all types of authentic Cuban food (roasted pork, moros, chicharrones, etc). Each meal is enough food for at least two people if not three, because their portions are immense. I stop in from time to time only for some coco frio so I can be healthy and drink pure coconut juice. Each coconut is $2. Another great tip is if you have a holiday gathering where someone needs to take the roasted pork you should definitely buy it from Palacio de los Jugos. Also, try their juices (lots of added sugar) but it is what made this place a landmark. My favorite is the watermelon juice. They deserve 4 stars only on the basis of authenticity because when you visit this place it can be a big culture shock. Explore and visit!

I visited this location for the first time with my sister and I loved it. When we approached the counter, the woman who was going to help us spoke only Spanish. Unfortunately, my sister and I don't speak it very well. Unable to communicate, she smiled and said "un momento" and grabbed one of her co workers who walked up and greeted us with a smile. Her English was a bit broken and tried very hard to communicate with us, she was very nice and her effort was very much appreciated!! My sister and I shared a very large portion of Arroz Imperial which was DELICIOUS!! Very generous with the chicken, ham and cheese, it was moist and the best I ever had. They have soo many different choices. Whole baked fish, Masas de Puerco, Paella, Vaca Frita... We also had two mango juices, which were fresh and delicious. I love the outside seating here and the very small market with fresh fruits. I look forward to returning!!

  • Alejandra A.

I cant get enough of the fresh fruit here... It is a shame that I live far from them because I could possibly stop and grab a container of mixed fruit every single day if I could. I have yet to be courageous enough to try the food. There is something about food lines open to the air that kind of give me the creeps but the food seems to be the usual Cuban food. I have to say though, sitting under those "big a** fans" on a sunny breezy day with that fruit in my hand is not bad at all. For a few minutes I almost feel like I am back home in Colombia eating salpicon off a food truck in my favorite neighborhood *sigh*

  • May A.

It's not just the food that they offer that is great, but the portions are huge. I've gotten the chicken, Arroz congri, white rice, yuca frita/herbida, and carne de puerco, and everything is full of flavor. I always take it to go and the amount of food they put in the container is enough for two. I always pay around $8 per container. If you're looking for quick place to get food for not a lot of money, this is the place to go.

This place is ok. I had a steak sandwich and it lacked taste. The juices are pretty good along with the fruit.

  • Hamilton D.

This is really a good place to eat cheap and delicious. Plus they have almost any kind of tropical fruit juice, fresh and made at their premises. You can also get fresh coconut water, the guy even opens the coconut right in front of you!!

  • Steve L.

Awesome location with great tasty Cuban fare. If your looking for great food and plates that are overwhelming in size this is the location for you. Every time I end up in Miami I make it a point to stop and grab a great meal here. Even though it does not have the flair of the original location it still puts out great food. I strongly suggests the lamb shanks and with the congri or morros. They also have excellent mofongo and platanos maduro...One for sure tip is get there before they close because the food items tend to run out and your choices will be limited closer to closing time.

Hay que tener hambre! (You gotta be hungry!) This is one stop shopping for Cuban food. Everything under one roof and ready to go. With several locations around town, Palacio de los Jugos (Palace of Juices for my Gringo friends...) offers affordable and ready to eat meals for the busy guy or gal that's always on the go. You can get fresh fruit juices by the gallon, half gallon, or the glass. Having a party? You can order ahead and pick it up the day of... This location has ample parking and there's always someone coming or going. If I took the time to tell you everything on the menu, I'd be here all day. Stop in and check out the board with the day's specials or "completas" (I like the carne con papa!), and if you like Chicharrones.. these are the best in town! Suffice to say, the food is good, the staff is friendly, and they have never dissapointed. My suggestion, bring cash. The credit card route is a bit of a hassle. Don't forget to drop a buck or two in the tip jar, the ladies behind the counters will appreciate it!

We happened upon this place by making what turned out to be a lucky wrong turn in Miami. We decided to try a mamey juice and, boom! We were hooked! The quality of the food is rather questionable and my rating could go either way due to their overly greasy choices. We tried a salmon with frijoles negros and arroz blanco and it was quite tasty and enough for two, but the rest of the food looked way too oily and not appetizing to us at all. Anyway, back to the star of this show: El Jugo de Mamey! I often day dream of that lovely, all-natural and perfectly ripe mamey and the lovely juice that is extracted from it. The five starts go to that juice alone, which also happens to be a steal when you consider what a rarity it is to find mamey in most places, and perfectly ripe mamey at that! Can't wait to go back to Miami and get me some of that sweet, velvety, delicious juicy juice... and maybe some FL coconuts while I'm at it. ;)

    (5)
  • Gabriella S.

Everything they have is delicious. Their half gallon of fresh coconut water is so good, I don't mind hauling ass through a typical Florida afternoon thunderstorm to have them hack up a few coconuts. With that said, their drive thru is wonderfully convenient. I only wish I lived closer... Every empanada has a perfect crust and their fillings aren't overly seasoned like most places. The portions (can't stop thinking about their fish and rice) are enormous and you will undoubtedly have leftovers. The cortaditos and cafe con leche are [as all good coffee] great for any time of the day. It is a little overwhelming the first time there because they have so many options, as well as a little side area where they have desserts, as well as a small back window where they sell their breakfast foods in the morning and their sandwiches, croquettes, tequeños and other quick bites the rest of the day. If it's good enough for Anthony Bourdain :)

Omg I love this place and I think I found Cuban Heaven! They have every type of Cuban food you can imagine and it is so authentic and delicious! The only downside is that if you don't speak Spanish you may be out of luck. Besides that, I had rice imperial and coconut water! Everything fresh and everything super cheap! ... In love

  • Nicolás J.

Considering the pollo asado is sitting out for so long, I don't know how it stays so good. But it is. I only wish that El Palacio de los Jugos had more vegetable options. They serve monstrous rice portions, which never feels like a good idea after the fact. Unfortunately, all they offer otherwise is maduros, tostones, yuca, etc. The typical starchy Cuban stuff. That's all good every now and then, but the mixed vegetables are a pretty sad healthy alternative. If they did a potaje de garbanzo or even sliced tomatoes with olive oil, that would be great (and easy enough to prep that they could pull it off).

    (4)
  • Jackie C.

They serve food in huge quantities and their prices are very attractive. However, the food quality is generally poor. They don't seem to have any quality control procedures. The food is just dumped in to glass showcases without any regard for how long it sits waiting to be served. Visually, the food looks terrible. The place just looks dirty.

Affordable and great Cuban food. Flan was ok but the ropa vieja was amazing! I had a meal for $9.63 and it was enough to share w my sister. The only downside is that the lady who was helping us didnt speak English and was kinda rude.

Racing through the Florida Everglades on Tamiami Trail is a special thrill. It is "the wild". And for the 100+ miles of traversing it you know, that if you trudged off in any direction just far enough to lose sight of that road, you'd probably be lost forever - it is that wild. The racing part was really only racing the sun and trying to match a landscape scene with the 10 minutes of "good" light at the end of the day. In the end, it was apparent that for art, we had sacrificed dinner at El Palacio de los Jugos which according to the internet, closes at 9PM. We hit Miami at 10PM. In the middle of the "Hardy's, Wendy's or Taco Bell - BLECHT" conversation like a vision passing by on our right is a genuine El Palacio de lo Jugos! And, I kid you not...Open 24 Hours! Oh.......My.......God. Dinner was fantastic. The carnitas - succulent and tender, black beans and rice (gallo pinto for you Costa Rica freaks) - perfectly seasoned. But the best was the plantains. I love plantains. These were caramelized to perfection with a subtle incredible smoky flavor. Cuisine, in my opinion.

If you're looking for authentic Cuban food in Miami, this is the spot. I stop by at least once a week for a pan con bistec and a jugo de mamey. They have a drive-thru, which is incredibly convenient for me.

I actually like this location better than the original location on 57th Avenue and Flagler. Because it's cleaner, better organized, less crowded, easier to park, has a huge ceiling fan, huge television to watch when bored, friendly staff, good variety (although somewhat smaller than the original location's). Overall, I enjoyed my experience here better.

I hope you know how to point and smile because if you don't know Spanish here, you may be doing a lot of pointing and smiling. Luckily for me, I know how to use both of my hands, so I pointed at some arroz imperial, got a huge brick of yellow rice with cheese on it, and smiled as I paid $4.85 for a huge dish. Huge plusses: The food here is delicious, and all of it is on display, so you know what you get. There are also lots of spaces for sitting. Everything here is also very inexpensive. Even better ifs: If you don't know Spanish, you may get lost here, so bring a friend, or learn how to point and smile. The parking lot is also small, so it's a hassle to park here. Random reflection: This place is Cuban central--the ideal place to learn Spanish.

WHY HAVEN'T I TRIED YOU SOONER?! So many selections, I want to try everything! The shredded pork and ox tail I order was delicious and only $10 per plate, cannot wait to go back and try some other dishes.

I love the food from here. If you're looking for options, fast serving, maybe outdoor seating, and authentic latin cuisine, this is definitely the place... However, if you're looking for good service you may want to go somewhere else. The ladies here aren't too interested in helping you.

It's amazing how much food they have here at any given point ( makes me wonder just how fresh it is). I feel like this place can be a hit or miss at times and that's why I didn't give it a full five stars. You can come in and order some food and it would be the most delicious thing and other times the food could be too dry or bland. I feel like the best time to go is during the lunch rushes cause there is a constant movement of food. The prices are decent and the portions are huge. Plus their juices are not to shabby

This was the high point of my road trip to Miami, stopping by El Palacio de los Jugos! It was intimidating at first, realizing you're driving through neighborhoods and businesses with barred windows...meaning this may not be the best area to lurk around when it gets dark or you might get your car broken into. But during the daytime, it's like home-made Cuban food galore! I was a little overwhelmed with everything being in Spanish, but the point method and hand gestures works to get what you want. Then you just hand over a credit card when they say the price if you have no idea what they just said. Holy crap...the lady just stuffed our styrofoam to-go box full with some heavenly paella and a generous heap of roast pork with the crackling. It literally was a 2 lb box of food. We split a box of food between 3 people and it was a perfect lunch portion for each of us. We should've given the fresh juices a try, but couldn't figure out how to order one. Perhaps next time, we'll give the best attempt to try what we want again!

Awful, awful service. Be prepared to stand in line hoping that one of the employees notices you. Apparently, they don't believe in the ticket system so you have to behave like an asshole so people who came after you don't skip you. If you believe in good service, stay away from this place. The only reason I don't give them 1 star is because their food is good and it's a good deal. Other than that, their service sucks.

One of the best places for Cuban food around They sell it at affordable prices by the pound The size of the sandwiches astound The juices are also so good and fresh you'd want another round My moments here with a pan con lechon, y un jugito de mango are profound There are various locations in Miami where this spot can be found If your favorite place for Cuban food closes, this would be the perfect rebound How does that sound?

Chicharrones, pan con bistec y una Materva. That was my goal. I got it and it was awesome! When I went to pay by credit card the chicharrones (separate counter from sandwiches) the lady almost didn't accept it because of my Illinois driver's license. She said they can only accept Florida?? I think she was confused in that she can't accept maybe foreign IDs? Anyway, she accepted it and I went on my merry way with my coveted chicharrones!

Have you ever been to Cuba and greeted by happy people and great food? Me neither; but this is the closest you're going to get. It's the type of place that you can walk right up to and order tamales, yuca, or croquetas from a friendly employee and be on your way. You can also order a complete breakfast or lunch with all the fixings and sit down and enjoy the unconventional people that only seem to exist on this small stretch of land between Coral Gables and the Palmetto Expressway. Juices? Can't beat 'em. Always fresh and they will blend different flavors for you if you ask. All this place is missing is a dominos table with four old guys around it talking about the pre-Castro Cuba.

The food in the steam trays look amazing, but I really don't like that you're contending with dozens of birds in the outdoor seating area. There are so many birds and they are everywhere. They have their beaks in the napkin dispensers when no one is around so make sure that you toss the first couple of napkins away, otherwise...contraction of the bird flu is imminent. The mango juice could be sweeter and the pan con tortilla could be bigger or cheaper. There's plenty more parking on the south side of the lot too so be on the lookout for that. Get out of here bird...

This place is good and very reasonably priced. The cons: balsa central... They attract a lot of rid rafs and it would be nice if one could pay everything you want is in one cash register. It seems that every time I go I have to make 2 or 3 lines.

I was going to write this review entirely in Spanish, because this place has screams AUTHENTIC CUBAN! Then I remembered... I don't know any Spanish beyond that taught on Sesame Street. Uno, Dos, Big Bird... That would prove to be a stumbling point at El Palacio de los Jugos, since Spanish is the only language spoken here. I hung back for a bit, to see how the locals ordered. It was a little like going to the deli counter at the grocery store. Not much of a line, and people behind the glass counter serving up large Styrofoam boxes of food. The girl behind the counter made eye contact with me and asked what I would like. At least that's what I think she said. She may have said "Your hair is parted funny", or something similar, again, no habla Español. I ordered the Arroz Imperial, because it looked like the easiest thing to say. I think it means the King of the Rice, which is odd, since Cuba has never had a King since it declared it's independence from Spain. It was the best dish I have ever had for such a low price. The one dish was enough to fill both me and my wife. Viva la full belly! Having food we needed to get something to drink, which is at a totally different counter. Here I saw the only thing that was written in English... a sign warning you that the juices may cause sickness or death. You see, the juice here is just squeezed juice, like a fruit that was just smooshed and the juice put into a plastic jug. It's not pasteurized, and that makes it the best tasting juice you will ever buy. I'm sure the health department made them put up the sign, to protect all the customers that could read English. As far as I could tell, the only person there being warned that day was me, and I chose to ignore it. (insert Spanish phrase for "Screw you Health Department" here) A meal for two, including the fresh juice drink cost 335 Cuban Pesos. I didn't have any Pesos on me, and they didn't appear to accept credit cards, but they happily accepted $12.63 in American currency.

This location is smaller than the one on Flagler, but closer to home for us. Oh how I so enjoy coming here for fresh juice (coconut my fav). Where else can you go and get a huge platter of great Cuban food for less than $10. I enjoy the variety of items, which makes it so hard to choose from. Seriously, the portions are ridiculous. Get one platter and share. Clean, well organized and friendly service. We yet have been here for breakfast but will have to try soon. Most times we run in for a great cup of juice, or some fresh fruits, or a platter of food. Hubby really enjoys their pork platter, just wish they offered BBQ sauce. My dish is normally the Ropa Vieja, so good. We visit both locations frequently and enjoy everytime. Yummy!

A fellow Yelper told me to try this place after reading my rant on crappy Cuban food. That and I know my friends have been here before, and I just happened to be in the area when hunger struck. Had I not been told I would have never thought of coming here to eat because the name does say "The Palace of the Juices", not "The Palace of a lot of freakin' food"! The second I walked up and saw the sheer variety of Cuban food delights and how the women behind the counter were STUFFING the styrofoam container until it exploded I knew I was going to be happy. I didn't even know how much it was going to cost me, I just knew I was going to get at least 2 meals worth of food. Don't forget to bring your interpreter if you don't speak Spanish, fortunately I know enough to order food and can use my finger to point at what I want. I picked out the Moros, Fried Pork Chunks, and boiled Yuca. The pork wasn't really chunks but HUGE hunks of meat that they chop up before sticking it in the box. It was tasty, not amazing, but good. The rice and Yuca were very good. It came out to around $8 and yes, I couldn't finish it so it became lunch for the next day. My inner Jew is happy.

I was kidnapped for breakfast and brought here. By kidnapped I mean I was not told where we were going, because my hubby didn't want me to say no. Which I would have.... why? You ask. Well, because its crazy over there, just caaraaazy! Knowing the way I get with crowds and my obvious disdain for other human beings in my misanthropic way, I try to avoid places that are crowded (with the exception of Universal Studios/Disneyworld the need for a Rollercoaster fix once a month.. what can I say). How so? Its always busy, at least at the times we can go. Is it worth it? Well, yes. If you can maneuver your way around everyone, and get the gist of the slightly confusing ordering process, the food is authentic Cuban - their Moros y Cristianos are the best in Miami. Variety rules here, there are many pork, fish, chicken dishes to choose from. Plenty of sides, and of course we ordered way too much food. They also have sugar laden and absolutely delicious juices - my tamarindo was fantastic, and I ended up stealing most of my hubby's authentic lemonade (limeade). Three people can leave totally full with 2 meals and a juice each. That comes to a whopping total of about $25. Can't go wrong with that!
