Tasty very tasty sea food. Fast device. Easy going and very courteous staff. Prices are not bad based on the specialty. Convenient parking. Clean and rustic interiors with great space.

We came here on a recommendation from a friend. We eat on the store side, not the restaurant. Fish was fresh, tostones where nice and tender. Our server was ok. Did not talk much but was courteous. They were busy closing the store, so they were collecting the fish from the fridges to move it out. You can pick the fish if you want. Overall, very good food.

This place's service can lack, but luckily I'm a person that cares more about the food than the place. Don Camaron is a mix of Cuban, and some peruvian, as they do serve ceviche and other peruvian products. Don't judge the place, it's pretty well decorated with all the fish market feel haha! I came here for lunch and ordered from the lunch Menu a fettucini alfredo for 10 dollars really cheap before 4 P.M. and it was the best fettucini I have ever had! It beats all the italia restaurants I been too or any other restaurant that serves fettucini alfredo haha! It was cheesy and garlicy perfectly balanced, they serve a loooooooooot, and I got it with chicken not with shrimp :) They limonade is home made and only 3 dollars, it's freaking delicious! Come here and have one :) lunch hour is awesome.

The seafood rice was not great. It was mostly yellow rice. The tostones were not freshly fried. The only dish I enjoyed was the fish soup.

I came here for lunch, Ive been here a couple times and I must say...If you don't have a lot of time try to come on off peak times. I came during 2:00-3:00 p.m. and it was slammed. I waited a while for my food. The service is detailed even if it's busy. The waitresses will come around constantly to make sure your glass is filled and to update you on your food. For appetizer I recommend the fish croquettes. It comes with 5 pieces, some limes wedges and some dipping sauce. My dad always orders a small fish soup to starts and loves it so that's another good option. They have lunch specials, but you have to buy a drink with it. Therefore, there are $6, $8 and $10 plates with the purchase of a $2.25 drink. So if you don't like soda like me and want the lunch deal...uhh you're kind of stuck. I had to buy an ice tea that i didn't want. Even though I just want water. So here I am sitting with a glass of water and ice tea. I ordered the grilled fish that says it comes with maduros (fried plantains) and rice. I always opt for no rice...you know (girls trying not to eat carbs thing). They have other options like salad, mashed potatoes, fries, to stones (another plantain option). I recommend the mashed potatoes. Its two scoops. My dad ordered the trot. Heads up, it brings the actual fish. Not a lot of people like that so I forewarn you. Other than that, I never have any complaints about the food here. It always is made to order and hot.

As we walked out of the restaurant a man at the bar said to the waitress "how strange there are so few people here today" I felt like telling him "that's because the food has become inedible". It is sad because I have eaten at don Don Camaroon before and the fish had been good, I had even recommended it the place, but today, the snapper tasted like tilapia, the shrimps were battered, tails and all, in a thick crust that engulfed the small shrimps served in a heavy, thick cream that must have made the arteries scream in terror, my corvina was a transparent "slice", the fries were COLD, the tostones were pure grease and the vegetables were rubbery, and cold, just to match the entire meal. There was not one item that saved the day, not even the service, although like the man accurately said, the place was empty. Are the cook and the manager of today because it's Sunday???

This place is a gem! Excellent FRESH seafood and great cooks. I order a grilled filet different fish every time and it always taste great. ThE tostones are the best also. Beer is ice cold too. And it's right across from Magic City Casino. Love this place. Been here 3 times always top notch service and food.

The past two times I have come here have been amazing-contrary to the other reviews. I'm not sure if it's because of what I ordered or what but all of the appetizers I've ever tried here have been awesome! I tried a dish that has salmon with shrimp, rice, and some amazing green sauce and wow!!!! Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! To die for! And this is coming from someone who usually doesn't like fish at all. Definitely a plate to try if you come here.

Really good food! We had calamari, snapper, salmon, and fish tacos. All were outstanding. My only complaint is that service was a bit slow.

  • Mirtha M.

I ordered a fish sándwich and it came w a big wire inside the breading. The manager was not even informed of what had happened in his restaurant. Right before I was leaving he came to our table n I told him that the health department would close him down for things like this. If anyone were to swallow this wire they could be in terrible health issues.

Came here for lunch because La Camaronera was closed. The place was not full and we had to sit ourselves. Everything we ordered was late and cold. Don't waste your time here. Real bad service.

Very Nice and Clean place to visit. Parking is a little difficult until you realize it's a huge parking lot across the street. Food was prepared very well and just as we ordered. Will definitely recommend and visit again on our next trip.

So, bad news first, the waitress was snobby as all hell at first. As she took our order, she didn't make any eye contact. She kept looking everywhere else except us. It was mothers day and it wasn't very packed (surprisingly) so its not like she was rushing around. Every time we'd ask a question in regards to a menu item, she'd sigh heavily and answer us, made my mom and i feel like we were annoying HER. I got irritated and made some extreme eye contact with her and she realized we were frustrated with her attitude. Thankfully she got the hint and loosened up a bit. Luckily, the food definitely makes up for the frustration we had with the waitress when we ordered. It was all good. Nothing out of this world. The food was good quantity and taste for the price.

I love this place. Just good ole fresh seafood. I love the minutes sandwich (snapper) comes with ff for less than $7 come on where else? The fried fish is extremely fresh and that's what you go here for. The ambiance ? There is none and hate the I loud, tacky, Latin romantic music. I am Cuban don't get me wrong, I just don't want to listen to that so loud at lunch and just not my style. But you come here for food that's it. Btw, new manager has the place on point. If it had better music I would give this place 5 stars no doubt.

    (4)
  • Adry G.

The food here is super cheap. Its great for a large group of people, I always come here with big parties. I think that they have a whole fried fish for like $7... You can't get that ANYWHERE!!! Their minuta sandwich is like $5... Only downside is whenever I come here food takes more than 45 minuted to get to the table. They have fresh seafood along with a mini market in the back for you to take some home... The mini market has already made food AND some seafood on ice to prepare your own creation.

Unexpensive good quality food wish they added more camarones to my food but hey all in all it was great along with good customer service and nice familiar atmosphere, would definately recommend, it is not the best place I have been but it is good enough to want to come back in the future

I go to this place very often, however, last time I just had the worst experience. I'm not looking forward coming back any time soon. 2 times I had to send back the food because the kitchen sent the wrong dish. The Night Manager for last Sunday (March 23) was rude, he blamed us for returning a perfectly cooked dish even if it had been the wrong item. He was offensive, rude and very unprofessional.

Come hungry! The portion is huge. I had seafood fried rice and my had grilled chicken breasts. Both were good, a little bit on the salty side. Overall a good place for a quick bite not far from the airport.

Talk about value... This place is a no frills seafood spot that never disappoints. Freshness is always clear from the moment you smell and taste the food. I always pickup some seafood to go at their fresh market so I can keep the feast going at home. This is a twice a month spot for me!

This place was actually recommended by our car rental associate when we got to Miami. He was drooling and licking his lips just thinking about it. We got there and were greeted by the hostess who told us it would be a 5 minute wait. We got seated a little after 10 minutes. Seats and table were a bit sticky. Waitress didn't really introduce herself and quickly dropped off menus. I can't quite recall all the food that we ordered but I know for sure I finally had a chance to try ceviche and I liked it. It was so simple yet so fresh and delicious. If blindfolded, I probably wouldn't even know it was seafood! The fried calamari was good but nothing special. Next, my paella ordered came through. Last time I had paella, it was in France and I was 8... Since then, I haven't had much luck finding flavorful paella. The paella was so good I almost cried! There was a decent amount of meat in my dish, the rice was not too soft and mushy, portion was big enough to feed two, dish definitely was not bland and boring. I don't remember the other dish that was ordered but I don't think our experience was too bad. Our waitress didn't check on us as often as she should have, but the restaurant was busy so I guess it could have been worse.

So I used to like this place a lot but their quality and service has gone down. They don't have the tres mariachis anymore which was my favorite dish. Also the staff can be a little rude. Hit or miss really.

Some of the best casual seafood in SoFla, with solid Cuban side dishes. The best dish is the grilled seafood platter. It's shorts and t shirt kind of place, but a place your parents would like. A gem.

    (5)
  • George D.

Thought that I would stroll by and pick up some reasonably priced seafood. I decided to order the Chaufa rice. Total disaster... Instead of Peruvian style rice with seafood, I got what tasted like awful Chinese fried rice with very little seafood. The rice was hard and the overall taste was abominable. I basically left the whole thing as I could not consume it. I could have bought Chinese fried rice anywhere for half the price and I am sure it would have been better. Something is definitely off... will not be going back.

Your typical Cuban place. Nothing special and was expecting more. Few shrimp dishes and not that great. Also although they say they serve ceviche this is not authentic.

  • Janelle B.

The other night was not what I expected at all. DC is usually fresh, quick, and delicious. This time it was fresh, but it wasn't nearly as quick as it normally is. We sat for almost 45 minutes waiting for our entrees and when we needed extras of items, the waitress was no where to be found. I love DC, so I will go back again, especially during this Lenten season, but if they don't get it together, then I'll start going somewhere else.

Oysters oysters oysters best in town also try the four seas ceviche 4 types of ceviche in one huge platter, the fried calamari is very good. They always have beer specials and did I mentioned the service was great.

Do not use your Groupon here! I used a Groupon voucher for this restaurant followed all rules that applied according to the voucher ($15 for $30). Before ordering, I presented my waitress, Zuleidy L., with the Groupon voucher. She obtained the voucher and proceeded with the order. I asked her about what drinks were popular in the establishment and she explained that the sangrias were very popular and they were two-for-one, therefore, I could try them out and take advantage of the price. When it came time for the check, I noticed they had charged me each sangria at full price ($7.00 each) instead of two-for-one. I asked the waitress and she said the manager had told her those were not available when using a Groupon. I explained to her that that should have been expressed before rather than enticing the customer on the wrong idea. I asked to speak with the customer and the waitress said he was on the phone. Ten minutes went by and the manager was still on the phone; I opted to pay because I was already late from my lunch hour. Exiting the establishment I waited in front of the manager to speak to him and he continued on a bogus conversation on his cell phone. He obviously did not want to address the situation. I am extremely discontent with the practices of the establishment in their attempt to entice the customer to purchase specials that are then not valid to be redeemed. I am also discontent with their capacity to address a customer's questions in due time and neglect a concern enough to allow the customer to leave with unanswered questions. Don't use Groupon here.

I buy most of my fresh fish from here because it down the street from my house and they have really good quality products for very reasonable prices. Their food is good but once you try the codfish fritters you will want to come back all the time!! I like the cheesy sea decor.

While laying overnight in Miami at the Embassy Suites this place was recommended, so we gave it a try. It was really good. Seafood was very fresh due to this place being a fish market as well as a restaurant. We started off with a picture of sangria that was good.....have had better, but this one was pretty good. The waiter was very attentive, and our food came out quickly after ordering. It's definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

The service was impolite. The food looked so good when it came to the table but the lobster felt like eating chewing gum and had no taste. The starter was OK. When we told them that the lobster wasn't too good the servants answer was "Ah".

My husband and I really enjoyed our lunch at Don Camaron. First let's begin with the service, our waitress, Grace (I believe that was her name), was knowledgeable and efficient. The restaurant was exceptionally clean and I really loved the casual nautical decor. The food...delicious! For the appetizer we ordered the "tostones rellenos"...amazing!! For our entree we both ordered the grilled fish with rice and bananas, we were too full for dessert but had an espresso. The menu had many delicious choices. The only reason I gave this restaurant 4 stars and not 5 was because (for my taste-My husband likes his cooked that way-) the fish was just a tad over cooked (although still delicious) and the bathroom had only one stall for women. I can't wait to try Don Camaron again. Oh, and did I mention, 2 for 1 beers during lunch.

Don Camaron has to be the one seafood place I visit the most. I honestly know it isn't the best but for the quality of food and reasonable prices to ride along, you bet I'm a fan. I always pick a booth but they also have tables and can accommodate large groups if that is the occasion. The wait staff is friendly and helpul. The daily specials are great deals and up to expectation. I am one of those who will return a dish if I have to but have never had that problem here. The food does take time to arrive so pick an appetizer and be patient. The parking across the street is a huge. They have available parking on the south side of the restaurant as well if the lot on the side is full. Give it a shot and you might find a common seafood hole.

My mother LOVES this place. In all honesty, it's semi cheap but there's nothing special about this place. They have an extensive menu and the servers are really nice. They have live music sometimes, so it can get really loud if you sit to close to the music.

Clean, well run & priced right but mediocre fish dishes at best! At the very least, food was not heavily salted...

My boss loves to come to this place for lunch. It never fails. "Where do you want to have lunch." "Up to you, boss (please say Maroosh)." "Hmmm, let me think, DON CAMARON!" Anyhow, I've had a few things here. I've had the Pan con Minuta - it's okay. Fish is a little greasy, but it's edible. I've also had the camarones enchilados. Again, it's ok. Not as good as my mommas! The ceviche is a little fishy for my taste and hit or miss, sometimes it's good and sometimes it's just too fishy. The best thing I've had here hands down is the Salmon con Camaron. The salmon is topped with grilled shriimp, topped with a creamy cilantro sauce and served with sweet plaintains. Now we're talking! It's delicious, and that cilantro sauce is MM MMMMM GOOOOOOOOD - and I don't even like cilantro. Service is good here and gets pretty busy for lunch, so best get here early if you want a booth.

Don Camaron may not seem like a place where'd youw ant to eat fish from, but trust me you do. The fish here is fresh weather you buy it from their market to eat at home or you dine-in. They have beer and wine too.

Everytime someone in my family is sick, we go here for the fish soup. Seems to make us feel better. The rest of the menu is just ok, nothing spectacular. The whole fish fried is always good, very fresh.

I would give them 3.5 stars. I just picked up the chicken breast with yellow rice to go. I must say the chicken was cooked perfect and tender (a very light flavor..which was what I wanted...might be to light for others.) Yellow rice was great. I would probably go back and try some other stuff. Prices were cheap. Service was ok.

i took my family on father's day to have a big family dinner and it was honestly it was the worst dinning experience i have ever had. to start off when i walked in two waitress were siting down on tables just talking to each other with a restaurant full of customers. the bus boys were super attentive as we walked in they helped us to our seats. we had to wait over 10 minutes for a waitress to come to us with menus, USUALLY WHEN THE MENUS ARE DROPPED OFF THE WAITRESS WILL TAKE YOUR ORDER FOR DRINKS, IN THIS CASE SHE DROPPED OFF THE MENUS LEFT BACK TO THE TABLE AND CONTIUNE HER CONVERSATION AND THEN CAME BACK TEN MINUTES LATER ASKING FOR THE DRINKS, WHEN SHE FINALLY CAME BACK WITH OUR DRINKS SHE STARTED TO TAKE OUR ORDER. EVERYTHING WE WANTED EITHER COULDN'T BE COOKED THE WAY WE WANTED IT BC THE FISH WOULD BREAK ON A GRILL OR THE CHIMICHURRO WASNT READY SO WE COULDN'T HAVE CHURRASCO SO THE ONLY OTHER OPTION I HAD STANDING WAS TO ORDER GRILLED CHICKEN, WHICH COMPARED TO THE SERVICE WE REACIVED THE FOOD WAS FIVE STARS WORTH, BUT THE ATTENTION GIVEN DOENST EVEN DERSERVE A ONE STAR RATING. TO GET REFILLS WE HAD TO CALL ON THE WAITRESS TWO AND THREE TIMES. SHE WOULD BE SOCIALIZING WITH OTHERS WAITRESS ON THE FLOOR. I THINK THE BUS BOYS ATTENDED US QUICKER AND BETTER THAN THE WAITRESS DID AND THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN HER MAIN CONCERN NOT THE BUS BOY. MY FINAL RATING ON THIS PLACE IS 5 STARS FOR THE CHEF AND BUS BOYS AND 1 STAR FOR THE WAITRESS'S AND MANAGEMENT THAT COULDN'T OVER LOOK THEIR STAFF . I CAN TELL YOU ONE THING THEY WONT BE SEEING ME THERE AGAIN

  • Jordan N.

The food here is good, but that's it. It's nothing much to write about, not at all. It's plain, simple seafood, from a run of a mill kind of seafood restaurant that probably serves chain-restaurant quality food. You won't be disappointed if you're not expecting much, and you won't be barfing vomit either. There are other seafood restaurants in the area though. They do have crab empanadas although it's kind of hard to taste the crab. Spanish goes a long way here. Restaurant has a parking lot. Family friendly. There are booths and small tables. Tables can be put together.

I thought Don Camaron was awesome. We had a great ceviche and the wings killers. + They had Grolchse for $1.50. No one has Grolchse for $1.50. That's cheaper than buying it at the store. + It was service with a smile. + Their mascot is a shrimp with a mustache that does crazy stuff with a lime. Solid time, will be back soon.

i always waffle between 2 and 3 stars on places like this. 2 stars seems like an awful review, but the description is "meh. i've experienced better." and that about sums it up for this place. maybe it was because i was at the end of my trip and about to fly home to cold and rainy chicago. maybe it was because i had just had 3 day's worth of FABULOUS food all over miami. or maybe don camaron's is just that... meh. we had the shrimp ceviche which i thought was pretty solid... but the meal slowly fell apart after that. i had the garlic shrimp w/ fries and plantains. my shrimp were fine, but basically swimming in garlic butter. fries were fine but the plantians were a bit dry... i'm not even really sure how you make that happen. all of this was leaning toward an "a-ok" 3-star review until i tasted my man's marlin (heh). for a place that claims to be a 'seafood grill' that was the most overcooked piece of fish i've had in some time. on a positive note, their little logo of a skrimp w/ a mustache and a chefs hat is adorable.

I find it super yummy! Their sopa de camaron is definitely fattening but the best things in life are :) I usually get the shrimp alfredo which is delish, just tell them to go easy on the sauce. & their fish of the day is always great with their mashed potatoes and yellow rice. Mmmm!

I remember being 7 and going with my mom to this place although then it was a tiny shack and they sold shrimp from a cooler in a van. I used to love eating here because it tasted so good. I recently went and although it looks like a fancy restaurant I can't help but feel like the heart and soul has been torn out of this place. The food is mediocre with expensive prices.

Inexpensive. Fresh enough but underwhelming seasoning. Also, my grilled fish was kinda dry. I think their strength is more as a market than as a restaurant.
