Went for lunch today. Great experience. The staff showed me their selection of fish that was on ice. Had some Hogfish, a la Disco Fish. It was delicious. Pick your fish and have it cooked the way you want it. What a great way to have seafood for a reasonable price.

My husband and I both enjoyed our super fresh lobster thermodore. Our bottled beer was super cold and accompanied by super frosty mugs. The food was fresh and flavorful. The new decor is warm and comforting. The service was amazing! It was like dinner with family. We will definitely be back, because my tastebuds are craving hog fish! This is a great place to dine and enjoy fresh seafood! It was worth the drive!

It is a clean place, the seats are comfortable, and the food is cheap, but the place is ugly, the food does not taste really good. Is not a place for young people.

The food was fresh & delicious. We ordered the oysters in a cup (which are just the oyster itself) for an appetizer. I highly recommend you make a dipping sauce with the cocktail sauce, a splash of hot sauce, lime juice, vinegar, salt & pepper and top it onto one of the cuban tostaditas they serve complimentary and then your oyster, you'll love it!! It's an orgasm in your mouth & an aphrodisiac effect for later!! Yum!! For my main entree, I had my favorite dish, camarones enchilados. It was a nice blend of seasonings, not an overwhelming flavor of sodium. All in all, the food was great, however, we sat waiting cluelessly to who are server was & when we finally were acknowledged, the server wasn't extremely attentive or even amicable. Some days are just bad days, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, 4 stars for this cuban seafood house!! "Barriga llena, corazon contento"

It was just an ok experience , yea lobster was pretty cheap but not quite cooked to perfection, the rest was ok , had the fried calamari and fish croquettes that were average and the service was mediocre. You get what you pay for , my friend.

Camme here today for the first time since the new opening today. The food was really good and tasty. I had the Arroz con camarones and it was AMAZING. The reasons why I didn't give 5 stars : I used to order the paella here for my family parties and they would charge around $8.00 per person. They are now charging $38.00 for 2 people. Also they have been opened for about a month but don't have any take home menus or business cards. The food was really fresh and it looks way nicer after remodeling.

I was surprised to see that they had opened again. I found the food and the service to be excellent. All the waiters were friendly. The waiters helped each other, and the owner came to greet and thank us for going. I found the food well cooked and presented. The only thing I did not like was that you can see the door were the employees go to get the seafood from where it's kept.

Came here for a casual dinner and was truly surprised by the quality of the seafood and service. I tried a bit of everyone's plate and everything was great. Grouper filet, paella, and sopon de marisco. We will definitely be back.

FOR THE LOVE OF FOOD! Don't let these other reviews misguide you! This was probably the worst meal I've had in my life, and I've been to countries where they can't refrigerate meat! ITS THAT BAD! Had to come dine here last Sunday for father's day and I don't know what was worst, the awful service, the fact that they tried to rip us off frying some canal fish instead of the snapper we had asked for AND if that weren't enough, I was fighting back my vomit from the fetid, putrid, rotten, smell that was coming from the fish refrigerator area (and no, FRESH fish does not smell!) let's face it people; fresh seafood isn't cheap for a reason. Needless to say I spent the rest of the day in the bathroom. AWFUL!

Let me begin my review by stating that I gave them the benefit of the doubt on the third star, and could have just as easily rated this place two stars. I opted for three, since I believe I would have liked a different menu item better than what I had. I ordered the yellow rice with what was supposed to be seafood, but was more of a sampling. In all fairness, you really cannot expect much for around $10.00, but what I got was a giant plate of rice and not much more. The serving size should have been decreased, the seafood amount increased, and if need be, the price as well, but this dish should not be served this way. It made no sense. Lobster...one piece, less than 2 inches square. Shrimp...a few of those tiny ones, likely not fresh. Scallops...smaller diameter than my pinky. I think there were 3 of those. Rice tasted great. Seafood had no flavor at all. All and all, a major disappointment. The place is a hole-in-the-wall dump. Run-down, not so clean, and unappealing. I often find hidden gems like this, but this isn't one of them, sorry to say. Beware of the photos shown here. If you notice, they can't really show you what the place looks like, so they show things like a sign, and a close up of condiment bottles. The only thing I wonder is if the fried filet or whole fried fish would have been any better. I won't be back to find out, though.

A human hair!!! I've been here before and things have gotten progressively worse, but finding a hair in my food is the worst... Keep it, I will never be back. Eli

Disco fish is in the central location of the spanish center of colatas, cuban bread and spanish music. venturing out we decided to go to disco fish for lunch. The ups Great low prices Fish is cooked nicely and the tarter sauce is amazing i suggest the fish croquetas!!! yum the portions are huge great to take half home. i sugguest the red snapper grilled with yellow rice! yum. It also comes with plantains on the side. I enjoyed the fresh fish, this place kinda feels like a little fresh fish place in the florida keys. nice laid back feel to it. the down's its a real fish market! so you smell the fishy smell when you eat and there is fish right in front of the market to purchase. i think they should of seperated the market from the dining but whatever., in the end it was a great authentic experience just make sure you order the right dish!!!! and oh yah get the YELLOW rice!!!!!

My friend has been telling me about this place forever. She had been trying to convince me to go here and I admit it, I was definitely hesitant based on the lack of stellar reviews here on Yelp. She also told me not to dine in, that she always gets it to-go. And the reviews here for dining in, again, not so amazing. But wow, they were wrong. We decided to take an adventure last night and somehow 67th avenue just kept going and going to places I have never been and never thought I'd want to go. And I admit it, I was a bit happy to see a BMW in the parking lot because I was a bit worried about this neighborhood. Until I approached the door. It was PACKED! We actually had to wait for a table about 5 minutes, with a line of other people. We watched and admired all the huge portions of plates go by. And finally when we got our chance, we also enjoyed our own large portions of: pan con minuta (reminded me of La Camaronera but better!), butterflied disco fish which was a huge entire grilled fish with garlic that was absolute perfection, yellow rice and fish, dolphin fingers, fish croquettes, conch fritters, ... We definitely over-ordered and had enough left over for lunch and dinner tonight. All the food, exceptional. Prices weren't so bad either. I got a glimpse of the weekday specials and those seem crazy cheap (less than $8 for a grilled fish), I'm definitely going back. And the decor, not so shabby. I SWEAR i didn't notice a speaker with musical problems, like another reviewer and if there was one, that is just so silly when you are enjoying such good food. This place is a kitschy seafood place, not like a grungy fish market like I thought it would be. Families a plenty, and servings sizes large enough to stuff you till it hurts. The only complaint, it's definitely for Spanish speakers or those comfortable trying to communicate with people that don't understand you at all. I'm used to people not getting me, even in English, so I was a-ok.

Please,( DO NOT LET THE OUTSIDE FOOL YOU) This place is amazing for lunch. the fish is fresh, the place is old school but they can cook. This is on our list to hit at least once per month for lunch with my co workers. I had the grilled fish with two side for less than 9 bucks. Wow, you kidding me. It had a great taste, it tasted fresh not frozen, and the sides to die for. I had the Moros and tostones. The place also sell fresh seafood. I will keep coming back.

DF is now reopened and kicks a$$!!! The place is under new ownership and has had a much needed face lift. It looks beautiful! Food presentation, quality, taste and pricing are all excellent. Also the service is top notch and outstanding. If you're looking for latin flared seafood that won't burn a hole through your pocket this is the place to go!

I used to come to Disco Fish as a kid and love the Corvina or Grouper with rice. I returned as an adult to try the calamari and rice, and not only did the prices raise dramatically but the water was full of floating debris, they gave me the wrong order to start with and when I finally got my calamari it smelled like sewage. That's enough to inspire me to find a new seafood restaurant.

Are you kidding me? How rude can one be just because I don't speak Spanish? You lost a 25 person order and I will let management know- if they even care! I

I have come here several times in the past with my parents. My girlfriend and I did not want to cook hence we decided that we will try this place together. We loved the oyster cocktail. The service was verrrryyy slow! The food was bad, salty and the stuffing in my food did not smell right. Overall I did not like our experience. My gf did like her food and a created a sauce that paired very well w our oysters which was the highlight of my meal. Our dessert (tres leche) was brought out and it was frozen, the servers explanation was that they just finished the bash and did not have time to let it sit out. So they mena to tell me that they freeze the tres leche? Not an answer I wanted to hear. I defiantly would not be going back to this place.

Great food at a really great price! I'm in Miami on vacation and immediately after landing, my friends and I went in search of food. Between her GPS and the Yelp app on my iPhone, we stumbled upon Disco Fish. What a great find! Since it was Sunday, paella was the special of the day and it was delicious! It was piping hot and seasoned just right. It even came with a side of plantains, which was a MUCH welcomed surprise... The service was friendly. It will definitely be on the top of my list of places to recommend whenever anyone asks where to eat in MIami!

Itty bitty tiny whole fried sardines for an appetizer are good but a little salty. Sardines are one of the healthiest fish you could eat anyways. Filets of Groupers (Cherna) were cooked a little too dried, and it was a bit heavily seasoned on the outside. Whole butterflied snapper in garlic sauce was fantastic! I had wolved it down (except for the bones and the eyeball - but it was so tasty I'd be tempted to be sucking on them too! Gross, I know....) The entrees ordered here were roughly $11 or $12 dollars each, including for the snapper. The sides of yuca and plantains were just okay. Lunch specials for less than $10 on weekdays. Orders of whole fish would have the waitress holding up the fish from the ice tray in the back so you could see it before it gets cooked. You could also go to the back where the fish is organized nicely on the ice and pick your own. 3.5 Stars.

Don't expect them to speak English to you when you're trying to order food to-go over the phone. Also the quality has gone down significantly since I was living in Miami. Minuta was bad.

I was dragged here by my in-laws who had been here before and were craving their Red Snapper. I was hesitant to go because some of the reviews were kind of scary, but I didn't win the battle, so we ended up going anyways. Surprisingly, their food was very good. Our party had the fried Red Snapper ( they serve it whole), grilled Red Snapper fillet, fish sticks, calamari, octopus salad, shrimp creole (enchilado), and shrimp scampi ( al ajillo). Everything was really tasty and fresh. The only thing that was not up to par was the overcooked shrimp. They tasted great but the texture was hard and chewy. What's to blame for the 3 stars, then? The place itself! To start with, when we were parking, there were chickens in the parking lot. Yes, actual chickens running around and flapping their wings by the cars. Couldn't help but wonder if the restaurant has its own chicken coop in the back for extra freshness. Maybe those two just happened to escape!? Not a very good first impression. The place inside is not very pleasant at all either. It looks kind of dirty and it's crowded with a million and one nautical decorations and marine animals. The market is right in the same area as the dining room so it smells,ummm...fishy. In terms of the service, the waiters were fairly pleasant, but if you are not Spanish speaking, good luck. This place is very Cuban. Not that that's a bad thing ( I'm half Cuban), I'm just saying, take a dictionary. It's a shame because their food really is above average, but I don't think I'll go out of my way to dine here again.

Prices are cheap for Fish and seafood but the place is absolutely filthy(Floor, tables, Greasy glasses),we even saw a small cockroach walking on the wall. Place was over crowded and tables are located too close.Fried Fish was ok but Rice with Marisco was not good and it had just a few shrimps and small pieces of seafood.Service was slow and not good Not planning to come back

Sometimes I wish I had learned Spanish instead of French. French is mostly useless in the U.S. except when you are trying to impress a French-Canadian at one of Florida's many fine beaches. Although, I need to Google translate the phrase, "You're allowed to wear something else besides a pair of jeans and a sweater in this sunny, 80 degree weather." The waitress only spoke Spanish. I pointed to oysters and the whole fried hog snapper. Arroz? Sure. Platano? Uh, oui. I mean, si. The oysters were below average. Small, fishy, and none of that good "water booger" taste. However, the fried hog snapper was out of this world. Just the right amount of breading outside and perfectly flakey inside. I love simple dishes like this and I'm glad they didn't overdo the seasoning. Mine didn't have any eyeballs left but my friend's did. Her bf ate it. Like a boss. It came with vegetables which were frozen, severely undercooked, and watery. Rice was just a filler. I didn't have much. The plantains my friend had were delicious, however. Thus, I ordered the wrong sides. It's cheap. It's dirty. There's a picture of two fish dancing out front

Fantastic, fresh fish with delicious sides for CHEAP. Make sure to get an espresso afterward, and to brush up on your Spanish beforehand.

Decided to go back to this place after a few years. CUSTOMERS BEWARE! This place is quite frankly disgusting. Dirty plates, dirty silverware and the food not so fresh.

I'm giving this place 4 stars based on the fact that every time my boyfriend or i have picked up dinner here, the fish is delicious, the portions are great, and it's reasonably priced. if you'll notice, i said we picked up the food. i've never actually eaten here because much like any "fish market" it smells like.. you guessed it- fish! it's not a beautiful place either, because apparently it doesn't need to be in order to stick around. i've never been here for lunch but it sounds like the lunch menu is a little cheaper (as usual) and is probably just as good. i also never heard abnoxious music and a blaring radio when i stopped in... so, to sum up things i recommend this place for pick up and if you can handle a dingy place for dinner i'm sure it's fine too. The fish is good, which is what's most important to me. note: restaurant.com and other websites have coupons for discounts (like $10 for a $25 certificate or half off)

The food quality and taste have diminished tremendously. My last visit consisted of old fish with a pasty consistency that was simply inedible. Although the servers are generally nice and quick, the food quality has been getting progressively worse. The place needs a good cleaning and a bathroom renovation.

Another couple of gruntling meals at a price Scrooge would envy. I got my usual squid w/rice ($6 I think) - which was mostly rice but given the enormous portion I picked out the scrumptious squid and still couldn't eat it all. Mr LaLotto had his (also usual) Botero-sized cazuela de mariscos and downed the entire thing in about 3 minutes. Huevas de pescado as an appetizer this time due to the insistence of Mr LaLotto's grouchy stomach. Fried, which I don't usually like, but very tasty. They are not fish testicles, as the phrase would leave one to imagine... matter of fact, I don't really know what they are but perhaps better to leave it that way. This is, remember, a rudimentary place where you can eat on a shoestring budget, so don't expect an actual wine list; do expect a decent assortment of latino beers. Didn't buy any fresh fish to take home this time (too much food can do that to you). I do still love the tacky mural of two fish disco dancing,

I went here for lunch today for the first time and wow! was I impressed... I love eating seafood, but hate going to these overpriced seafood restaurants (I won't mention any names for now). Imagine my surprise when I came across this local dive recommended to me by a coworker. Where else can I get a huge plate of arroz con mariscos for only $8??? I even had enough to take home as leftovers! 3 of us ate here and had coffee after our meal for only $30. Great place, great value for your money, and great food!

My husband and I went for lunch. He had Masas de Pargo enchilado, with white rice and Tostones. I had the Filete de Pargo empanizado with yellow rice and tostones and we both had flan for dessert. The server was extremely nice. The place was clean and not smelly of fish at all. The fish was fresh and to die for, the Tostones nice and crispy and the flan was delicious. They have great $7.99 specials. I will definitely go back to try the Harina con Cangrejo, the Lobster Thermidor and the Paella. Very good.

This place may not look the best from the outside and even scare you away however if you want great fish and seafood at a great price this is the place. The staff if very friendly and warm and speak English. I could not believe my bill only came to a hundred dollars the other night with nine people. Believe me this would have been at least three hundred on the beach. I can't wait to visit again.

This restaurant used to be one of my favorites for good , fresh seafood. However, the service has deteriorated to the point that I find myself making excuses not to go. It is inexpensive, family restaurant, but the waitresses are slow, clueless.
