Good Lord!! Amazing meat pattys! And the coco bread...unbelievable!! It's been so long since I been down to Miami and had some good, authentic Jamaican beef patties and coco bread!! But dig this...I'm a Haitian!!! Good eats

If you are looking for that little secluded spot where you can have some great Jamaican food with that great homemade taste, it's this little spot. Best patois you will here from a Chinese Jamaican too

I ventured in here for my first visit on Saturday 6/22/13. While I don't know Jamaican food well, I do know Oxtails. These were tender and cooked in a nice gravy with big Lima Beans. Because the Oxtails were sliced thin, I didn't get a lot, but it was a satisfying portion on top of my peas and rice. A side of steamed cabbage and carrots complimented this meal. Just for the sake of curiosity, I also purchased a Jamaican Pattie. Now that was a treat! Nice tender crust with a mixture of beef, sauce and spices. This was a meal all on its own. With a Jamaican Kola, the grand total for this excursion was $13. The only down side was the appearance of the restaurant. Upon entry, there is a women sitting in the doorway selling her wares. The menu board needs updating, especially if you don't already know what you want. The ladies at the counter don't smile and matter-of-factly take you order. The dining area is clean, but worn looking. However, if you are willing and able to over look these minor details and focus upon the meal..................you will have a delicious experience.

Great bakery, but service is equivalent to Seinfeld's Soup Nazi. Like other reviewers mentioned, there's always a beggar or two outside. The place is dirty, but the worst is the unfriendly service. That woman behind the counter is scary rude! Maybe they should name it Dave's Chinnazi Bakery!

Spicy beef patty filling the best anywhere in south Florida. Crust is good, tied for 2nd or 3rd best. I'm always torn been patties from here and Hey Mon(best crust, but second or third on filling). Just to be clear I am only commenting on spicy beef patties.

Likes: tender, gently spiced oxtail meat that falls off the bone, big beans, spicy beef parties, and unexpected buttery raisin scone. Dislikes: the inside looks a little dirty, and I didn't see the health rating visibly posted, the lady who took our order was unfriendly and in a rush. The food was decent, but there are too many decent or better Jamaican places in town that are cleaner and friendlier. I'll hit those up for oxtail and patties next time!

Spectacularly good food. Truly wonderful curry and jerk. The place is more set up for takeout than dining in though.

Yesterday, I ordered Brown Stew Fish for the first time from Dave. The fish was snapper and it was full of flavor. The whole fish wasn't that big, but it was very satisfying, and coupled with the steamed cabbage and rice & peas sides, I ate half for lunch and the other half for dinner. I must admit that the seasonings on the fish reminded me more of escoveitch than brown stew flavors because of the slight spiciness (possibly from scotch bonnet peppers) and vinegar taste, but I was still very pleased, and I would order it again and again. Now, let me tell you about the carrot juice...it's creamy, sweet, and has a little rum kick for an added delight. I grew up on this stuff, so when I tell you it's good...take my word for it! There are hints of vanilla extract as well which is different from the carrot juice my dad squeezed from a sieve and simply mixed with sweetened condensed milk, (and in recent years GINGER!) but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it coated my tongue from the spice from the fish. I am always longing and anticipant for my next visit to Dave for the most authentic, most delicious island food this side of the Caribbean. You should definitely give them a try...it will make you feel real Irie!

This is one of my go to places for beef patties. They are made just here right and always hot and fresh. I haven't had any of the other food there in years, so I can't say how it is. But the patties are a must!

For as long as I've been in Miami, there was only one place to get authentic delicious jerk chicken. I can safely say there are 2. Dave Jamaican has a spicy and unique jerk chicken that is as good as I've ever tasted. I work right around the block so I am so glad I found this place. Great for eat in or take out. I look forward to trying everything in the menu. The jerk pork looks great as well.

Daves is a great bakery and thats about it I wouldnt recommend buying anything other than bread from this place due to my past experiences with their food. If you want good jamaican food just go to the shopping center across the street and check out golden crust or jerk kitchen.

While hanging out at the W, I happened to meet a nice Jamaican lady who worked there. I told her that I was a big fan of Cliff's and that I often went there for the jerk chicken and curry goat. She told me that if I wanted real Jerk Chicken then I should taste her cooking, but when she doesn't cook, she goes to a place called Dave's. Seeing that she didn't invite me over for dinner, I had to see what this Dave's place was about..... Dave's is located down the street from the monstrous Tootsie's strip bar on 183rd street. If you didn't know that Tootsie's was there before, you certainly knew after passing 2 gigantic signs off the I-95 exit pointing the way. I hear that Tootsie's occupies the spot of an old "BJ's". The irony of this did not escape me but I digress.. Dave's is definitely not the best area, so I'm glad we went during the day. My wife waited in the car with the engine running just in case.... Inside there was a lady selling fruit, and 2 counters - one for the bakery and one for takeout. There was a small seating area to the right, but there was zero chance we were eating there as I did not have any mace on me. The take-out counter had a nice sized line of people waiting to order. The line could have been easily mistaken for a police lineup, but hey I took it as a good sign. The menu has both Chinese and Jamaican items available but I stuck to the Jamaican side and went with the Jerk Chicken, Curry Goat, and 2 Beef Patties. After a short wait, I jumped in the running car and sped home to enjoy our tasty treats. The entrees were less than $8 each and came with beans and rice, and steamed vegetables. The curry goat was nicely spiced and delicious. The Jerk chicken was also great - it bordered on a smoky BBQ flavor rather than Jerk seasoning, but delicious nonetheless. I found that neither dish was as spicy as Cliff's, but for my wife this was a good thing. The real star of the meal was the Jamaican patties though. The patties are baked fresh daily at Dave's and were absolutely incredible. They were the best patties I have ever had - soft crispy shells with delicious filling inside. I'll never eat a frozen one again. Overall the food was great, I'll probably just stick to Cliff's since it is much closer but I would order take out from here again if I was in the area (during the day) and craving authentic Jamaican cuisine.

Why two stars? Because the service is horrible. Luckily this establishment is not recognized as a reputable place because the women behind the counter are some of the most unmannerly individuals I've ever had the pleasure of encountering.. The patties is the major reason why they have repeat customers even though you have to endure the nasty behavior and sarcasm from those rude females. There are other restaurants within close proximity with excellent customer service, cleanliness,, and good food that would love to take your customers. . Good service is just as important as good product, keep that in mind because you lost a few more customers today.

It's nice place to eat Jamaican food but the patties are not the best, there usually dry and hard but the food for the most part is pretty decent

Daves Was OK to good in the late 90s now its barely ok I dont like my food heated up in a Microwave Its a Shame that its difficult to find a Jamaican restaurant in Miami Gardens after all Miami gardens was one of the first neighborhoods settled by Jamaicans in the early eighties ,Now you cant find good Jerk chicken in Miami gardens in the Eighties you would have 4-5 places to choose from
