Dancing salsa + drinking with co-workers? What more could a girl wish for a Friday night! It was epic. Happy hour was definitely happy. I'm not gonna lie, I was hesitant. The Baru in Brickell is horrible but this spot was WAY better. I have no complaints...well maybe that they didn't play bachata but it's all good. They played tons of meringue and salsa and it def made up for the no bachata rule. The ambiance was fun and I had a great time! I'll see you soon, Baru Midtown.

I just passed by a couple minutes ago as my husband and I were looking to have a couple drinks, we received the worst service ever, nobody from the four girls sitting there came to greet us, then the bartender came, she did not say hi and were barely answering our questions regarding the drinks they offer... She was so rude we felt uncomfortable and left without ordering anything! This place looks nice but geez the staff need to be changed!!!

This location is much better than the one in Mary Brickell. Unique drinks and the atmosphere is different than other bars. Spicey strawberry tequila drink is a must try!

Visited this new location to celebrate a birthday. Similar ambiance but very different service from the other locations. The club's traffic flow is horrible, it was hot and the staff needs a happy pill. The music was ok. A lil expensive for drinks and they are watered down. Prob Won't visit this location again.

As much as I love BARU (downtown) I hate Baru Midtown. The decoration is BEAUTIFUL and the music is amazing, however, the bar takes up 60% of the space, and the place just gets way too crowded to the point it can take you 15 minutes to reach the bathroom. Ordering a drink is a 30 min task, at least. The same with trying to find parking. Valets wont take your car past 11pm.

Food is good service sucked, they told us twice that our table was reserved for 12:00am twice. I wouldn't come back here again my money is going to be spent somewhere else

There are many other places with good music and better drinks and service in Miami. Do not waste your time. Drinks are small, watery, and bartenders are rude. Very Expensive too.

This was the old ricochet that is now Latinized. The huge craft beer selection is gone but there is la Rubio and a porter from Wynwood brewing co. The decor is sweet, colorful and trippy. Beers are $6 and drinks are $12 and there is Colombian food too. Saw a cool band called Blik there and had a nice time.

Music is typical (which was expected) and the place is nice BUT their hostess & service are god awful. First, a little after 10pm they set up this ridiculous system where you pay a $20 cover charge and in exchange they give you play money that you can use towards their overpriced drinks at the bar. We were there for a birthday so our group of 20+ opted for bottle service (I know, I hate it too) which this place has no idea of how to do. It was a mess. After a couple of hours my wife and I, along with another couple stepped out to get a beer at world of beer. Since we were going to be back (our group was still there) I told the bouncer. Naturally when we came back the bouncer was not there and the hostess accused us (she only remembered the men) of trying to sneak girls into the club without paying (which were our wives that were with us from the beginning, lol). Here's an idea; how about you give people wristbands or stamp their hands so that they can get back into your shitty club without relying on the dingbat memory of your asshole hostess. Great time ruined by horrible service, we'll never be back and I advise anyone with a big group to go elsewhere. There are TONS of options in Midtown, don't settle for a mediocre lounge trying to act like a SoBe super club. Baru, get over yourself.

Okay, so I am not sure why this place has such low ratings. The drinks were good and had many varieties. The appetizers were yummy and the DJ was great. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The only thing missing where the people. I blame low reviews for the absence of a crowd. really, this is the first place I have been in a while that I actually will go back to maybe even next Friday.z I like that the happy hour ends at 8 PM. I can't stand it when happy hour ends at seven or before. Who gets out of work that early anyway?

Overpriced but good comfort food. I was hoping for a little bit more but it was truly just that. Place is nicely decorated and in a decent location, right next to a parking garage in case parking is an issue. Other establishments are within walking distance. Overall we had a good time but O did expect a little bit more.

Was not impressed. Location is great and the decorative furniture and artwork was nice, however the staff and people working leave something to be desired. We had a difficult time communicating with our waitress and the hostess. Ambience was decent but for the prices you would expect a little more. Probably won't go back.

Extremely bad service. We were waiting for the check while the waitress dance.... yes he was dancing.... Also the "GM" was extremely disrespectful... We are never coming back to this place... Too bad, this place was good in the past and now is just one of the worst that you can find in Midtown-Downtown-Brickell area... Extremely expensive for the service that they offer.

first time visiting this spot and I have to say I'm very disappointed in the service just because I'm a bartender myself . First my partner and myself sat at the bar for about 5 minutes looking at the menu that we had to grave ourself got greeting about 10 mins after that . first thing we asked for was the food so that should of been a sign to be on top of the food order well half hour passed and no food asked the bartender and said she was about to "check" when she came back she was told that the food came out which never did place was not even crowded 15 people max... HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE . We ended up at Wendy's having dinner thanks !

The music is awesome. That's about all that is awesome. I honestly have never experienced and witnessed such bad service as this. The bartender, her name was Eli, I believe, kept giving everyone I was with the incorrect amount of change. Rather than apologizing every time we told her she would go to the register, get the money and throw it on the bar in front of us. We asked her about a Hawaiian drink later on in the night and she just made a face like we were crazy and left. At one point, there were 4 girls in front of us that were disputing a charge and the bartender went ballistic. She was screaming at them and one of the girls had to tell her to calm down. The bar is beautiful and the music is great, but the service is dismal. Oh and the whole $20 cover charge and Baru bucks is a rip off. The hostess at the front explained it much differently to me than it actually was, and the whole time she kept speaking to me in Spanish while I was talking to her in English. I would just recommend no one goes to this bar. Learn from my mistakes!

i love this place. The music was great except that they did not play any bachata. The drinks are surprisingly very affordable. It has nice decor. I would definitely go back.

Most overrated place in midtown. Crowded and full of drunken ridiculousness - Though I'm all for some Carlos Vives action, the attitudes and spilled drink situation makes me want to go across the street and eat my feelings via an empanada at Novocento instead.

This place was pretty cool but it was way too crowded on a Saturday night. They gave us a tiny table by the door for 6 people but later moved us to a bigger section. Service is quick and bottles are moderately priced. The music is just okay, more geared towards a Colombian crowd, which makes sense, since it's a Colombian bar. Overall, a pretty good time but you definitely can't count on having any space to dance.

If you are in Midtown looking for a casual atmosphere to get drinks this is your spot. The later it gets the louder the music gets. I prefer this pace around 7-10 the most.

Great place , great food , great music. What more can you ask for ? It gets packed so come in by 10 pm

I celebrated my 30th birthday at Baru in Midtown and it was great. The manager, Felix Avila really went the extra mile. Not only did he promptly respond to every single email I sent, he also customized my bottle order. He included special discounts and even added balloons to the table. They have the best music! They play a lot of Spanish music and mixed up with a good variety. If you're in the Midtown area, this bar/club is definitely a must.

Only giving this $hithole two stars because Melissa was a wonderful server to us and the music was pretty damn good. The drinks were pricey as expected but not a problem. The real issue came to light when the lovely manager Gaston not only demeaned his server in front of me, but later asked her to deny us tap water. As if this wasn't a human right. This insignificant twat was the rudest little POS I've ever encountered as a paying customer. Miami has way too many places to try as a tourist and former resident. Nunca mas.

If you are looking for a place with A good mix of Latin music Baru is not a bad choice, BUT : beware of $$$ high priced drinks and bad costumer service! It's always packed with little room to dance and you will encounter with not just rude bar tenders but also a few rude costumers pushing you to get through. Managers are well aware of the bad service their employees provide, yet they don't do anything about it. I suggest you go to the Baru in Doral or even Mangos in South Beach for a Latin club/bar in Miami.

If your looking to have a Latin night this is your spot... Not that big on the inside but for a group of four or just two it works out just fine.. Music is played loudly so don't go if you want to talk.. But to enjoy great mojitos ,ceviche and music this is it!!!!

I love places where I can dance to spanish music... I love merengue, salsa, bachata, ballenatos, and this venue gives it all to me. We went to celebrate a birthday and I have to say as soon as we walked in, I knew I would like this location better than the one in Mary Brickell Village. I love the neon painting on the walls, the grass in the ceiling, and all the open glass doors. As soon as we arrived, the staff greeted us and asked if we wanted to order drinks. It was late into the night but we not only wanted drinks, we wanted food as well. We asked for the menu and ordered a few of the appetizers. I never have high expectations of a lounge that serves food, but they surprised me. I tried the tequenos, arepitas, and these amazing chicken skewers (I can't remember how we ordered the last dish. It may be their grilled chicken with two side dishes). Everything I tried was very flavorful and satisfying. The portions were just right and it was exactly what I needed before the dancing began. The DJ played a great mix of Spanish and English music and the place was full of beautiful people. I had a fantastic time and I'm sure I'll be visiting again.

Service is horrible, they took forever to get a drink and charge when there were 3 people in the place only! The waitress was busier flipping her hair than taking our order!

I came to this Baru for the first time for a bartending class with open bar. I usually go to the one in Brickell and always have a great time. The class was taught by a David Ortiz and I was astonished by his knowledge of the drinks that he made. The staff at Baru were amazing with getting us drinks and food while the class was going on. I thought I knew how to make drinks, but I was wrong! Now I know how to make drinks! Such a cool place with fun people and great atmosphere. I highly recommend taking their bartending course and learn to make some drinks. Hanging out behind the bar is another experience!

Cool place to hang out and get ur dancing on...there are no lines or hassles to get in and the music is a mix of top 40s with Spanish hits that include salsa, merengue..etc. if u get in before 11, there's no cover ..otherwise I think entrance is $10. The place doesn't get packed which is good and the drinks are affordable. They do offer a good food menu, I've tried their tequenos and they are pretty tasty.. Overall, if u have a group of friends who just wanna have fun, dance and drink without the headache of parking or long lines...this is def a good option.

The ambiance is nice ,it looks great in there BUT the servers have the worst service and attitudes ! We were waiting forever for our food and when. I enter the bathroom while I'm waiting guess what I see? My server on her phone in the bathroom ! Im guessing that she didnt even put our order in! The hookah is a pretty good deal, $35 for all night .

Ducked in with my friend Devon and her merry band of revelers to celebrate her birthday and was I glad I did, here's why: * Good and strong drinks * Hottie servers and bartenders aplenty * The Fried Pork Skins / Chicharrones were a hit! * Corner spot close to the parking garage and ideal for people watching! * Indoor and outdoor seating options. I really dig the distinctive and eclectic decor, from a faux "living" and green ceiling to the horse's ass that hangs proudly as decor inside a frame upon the wall. I look froward to returning of an evening night on a weekend so I can gauge the real and try some other food. Cabeza OUT!

I don't know if this place is always fantastic, but we happened to come in on a Sunday when it was mainly Colombian party...We thought it was a Saturday night...amazing atmosphere and party! Still recovering...fantastic! Keep up the great times!!!;)

I don't have that much to say about Baru. As indicated by my rating, my feelings are just mehhh. The food is whatever, the drinks are whatever, and the music is ridiculously loud. And to add insult to injury...the waitresses are rude. If for some unknown reason you have to go to Baru, I suggest the Brickell location. It's the lesser of the two evils.

I went on a Saturday night and the music was amazing. The DJ mixed salsa, merengue, American top 40, dance, rock Latino, and it never got boring with the same kind of music. The only thing I dislike about this place is that they charge you $20 to get in and they give you 20 Barú bucks. Now comes the annoying part: if your drinks are $18. You have to pay 15 Baru bucks and $3 dollars (you can't use 20 Baru Bucks). And depending who is your bartender you may or may not be able to pay with credit card. So always bring cash to this club. As a tip to the club, they should charge a $5 cover and let me pay my tab with cash.

I went to Barú this past Saturday night for a friend's birthday. When we showed up, the hostess explained that you have to pay $20 to get in but they give you four $5 tickets to use at the bar to gets drinks. I go immediately to the bar and order 3 drinks. I'm told that I need to give them 4 tickets and $10. I tried to get an explanation why we had to pay in addition to using the tickets but the bartender did not speak English very well. I asked for a manager and she said no, she can get security. So I asked her to get security. She came back with both the manager and security. The manager explained that you cannot pay for your drinks with only the tickets. I explained that the hostess did not say that, she said we could use it to buy our drinks. She said she would talk to her to explain it better. All bar orders automatically have 18% gratuity added. My Johnnie Walker tasted watered down. Beers are $6 cash or 1 ticket and $2. Liquor is $12 cash or 2 tickets and $3. To get a table you have to buy it for $80. My girlfriend was sitting at the bar drinking her drink and the bartender told her that in a few minutes she would have to get up, even though she was ordering drinks and drinking them there, with no explanation. The decor is nice, drinks are average price for Miami and the food is expensive. Customer service needs to be improved before I ever go back here.
