Mi-Yard

Reviews:
It's pretty good food! We were working in the area helping homeowners in foreclosure and decided to try a new restaurant. The service is fast and friendly. I am very satisfied with this restaurant. Definitely worth a try if you're around here.
I have a mixed review for Mi-Yard. My family and I went to Mi-Yard because we wanted to try a restaurant we have never tried before. I ordered the oxtails, rice & beans, and Mac & Cheese. My husband ordered the Fried Chicken, Cabbage, and Mac & Cheese. My daughter ordered Mac & Cheese. When we received our food, it seemed as if two different restaurants prepared the food. My husbands meal was hot and fresh. I could clearly see that the food had been prepared during the span of time that we ordered. The chicken even need a few minutes to cool off. My daughter loved her Mac and Cheese. My plate on the other hand...left a lot to be desired. It looked ok when I initially received it, but that went downhill really fast. The Mac & Cheese was not hot at all. As a matter of fact, it was barely lukewarm. It seemed as though it may have been prepared earlier in the day and served later on. I felt the same way about the oxtails. They didn't seem fresh or freshly cooked. The rice and beans were the only thing on my plate that seemed like it was fresh. I was so disappointed in the dish that my husband started sharing his meal with me. His meal was delicious. I would give his meal 3.5 stars. Unfortunately, I would have to give my meal 2 stars. Although my husband had a good meal, I don't think I will return to this restaurant.
Awesome hidden place. Very friendly fast service. I had jerk chicken yummy! Salt fish, cabbage, and rice. I was a little skeptical at first only because has very little reviews. But no worries people just haven't left any. It's amazing food!!!! I'll be back!!!

Lorna’s Caribbean & American Restaurant

2732 NW 183rd St

Reviews:
I only make reviews for restaurants that are worth it or absolutely not. Lorna's is definitely worth it. The employees including the young lady working the register was very kind and checked up on my boyfriend and I. Most black owned restaurants we visit have insincere service but not this one. The food speaks for itself, prices are cheap and the interior design is very nice despite of the location. Great experience and will be back soon
Great-tasting food, lots of it, and at a good price? I'm sold! My friend and I were pleasantly surprised when we found this place on Yelp, as the place where we originally were set to meet ended up being a takeout only place. We were skeptical, I will admit, as we arrived. Lorna's is located in a nondescript shopping plaza that is pretty deserted. They don't even have a sign outside the local, which is why we nearly missed it (they really ought to purchase a sign). The restaurant looks like any store or other business nearby, you probably would not even know this is a restaurant unless you made an effort to walk around or look for it. The inside was surprisingly nice. With a backdrop of a nice skyline view at night on the wall of the dining area, the white tables glistened. Considering white is a color that easily shows filth, it was nice to see everything sparkling clean (and unusual, too, especially when it seems every place in South Florida has the infamous sticky tables). We ordered at the counter, and decided to get a large (a large is about $9.00 and includes two sides), of the brown stew chicken, as they were out of the jerk chicken. They're not joking when they say "large." I had only eaten a cup of ramen noodles for lunch about 8 hours prior, so I had a pretty substantial appetite, yet was unable to finish my meal. Speaking of the meal, my friend and I got the rice and peas as a side, as well as the mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was finger-licking good! One of the best I have ever had. It had a thick layer of cheese on top, and all the macaroni was gooey with cheese. The brown stew chicken was a generous portion too, and very savory. My friend raved about the mac and cheese especially, so it was a unanimous hit. They ask you if you want a light amount of gravy or a thick amount of gravy for your rice. We both asked for extra gravy, so our rice was very moist and flavorful, with more than enough left over for our chicken. The service was friendly and the desserts behind the glass display looked really good. Considering the amount of food you get and the price, it's a great deal. I don't doubt that my friend will want to return soon and by the way, they do take credit cards.
My food was amazing! The oxtails ate so meaty and this place never fails me! Other restaurants that sell oxtails need to take notes from!

Reviews:
So it's very hard to find great Dominican food in south Florida .. I've come across a couple places that I won't even mention.. Ive been to Yarumba twice .. First time was with family to eat. I had the grilled chicken breast with rice and beans ! Amazing !! The second time I went was after the Romeo Santos concert, Saturday night. I ordered the picadera /beers .. Music is loud and the crowd was having fun. Great night
Returned with co-workers because we needed to eat and return to work in 45-50 minutes. The service was much better. My meal was good, except for a few extra hard pieces of plantain in mofongo. My colleagues enjoyed their daily specials and off the menu entrees of stewed beef, stewed chicken and salmon. Overall it was a very good experience and I took a minute to walk to the kitchen window and think the chef and his staff. More work lunches are in our future at Yarumba. PS - Love their red beans!
So disappointed , the lack of customer service skills here is abundant !!! Not coming back anytime soon ...

I tried the vegetarian roti, which came out a lot bigger than I expected. The inside stuff is potato & vege paste already made. The outer layer is really full of flavor. A good cheap eat!
Great place. Super authentic, almost felt like it wasn't in the US for a moment. Staff is as spicy and saucy as the food. Great flavors and lots of fun. No cells phones allowed! Just eat.
Trinidad has always been in my heart for many reasons. One of which is the incredibly rich smell and blend of flavors and textures of a Trinidadian Roti or a Buss Up Shut. The second being the warmth of its always welcoming people. This place reminded me of my island hoping days with the usual stop at Port of Spain. Closed my eyes at LC and I was "liming" in San Fernando. If you are into Trinidadian food and want to spare the cost of travelling, then this is the place.

Church’s Chicken

4698 NW 183rd St

Reviews:
I have always liked Churches Fried Chicken. MUCH better than Colonel Grease or Popeye's.There used to be one near me in So. Miami but it moved years ago. Now, they're nowhere near me, but I do occasionally pass one on the way home and pick up some chicken, for which the resident two-foots are really happy. I'm not thrilled with the sides so I usually order just chicken, and occasionally some honey rolls. I've had occasions where they were closed before their posted time ( South Dixie ) and 27 Ave just north of the Dade County line. For the Pinky Plunge Yelp event this year, I ordered from the location on NW 79th St and 21st Ave EARLY in the day 40 pieces to be picked up at 11.pm for the picnic next day. I confirmed with the day manager,( whose name I don't remember), and even called later in the day to confirm. She assured me that though SHE would not be there at 11, having ended her shift at 8pm, she would make sure to tell the night manager and leave the written order so he could see it and it would be ready and waiting for me. Needless to say, when I GOT there at 10:45,( they had midnight posted as the closing hour), The night manager had no knowledge of the order , was already closed and was in the process of cleaning the fryers. Well, with a very calm, well modulated voice, I casually mentioned that I was NOT LEAVING THERE WITHOUT MY CHICKEN!!! .....and the VERY nice night manager turned the fryers back on and COOKED MY CHICKEN!..and it was sooo fresh and hot and delicious the next day at the picnic. ( and I even got $10. off for my aggravation! At the location on top of this review, I went on a Sunday where I took advantage of the 10 piece for $4.99 deal, to bring to a friend's house and even stopped again on the way BACK home to buy more for my resident two foots ...and even though the lovely server at the takeout window said they had been run ragged as it seemed EVERYONE in Miami was taking advantage of their Sunday special, she said it with a big smile and a cheery hello and goodbye and enjoy your chicken...and we did! xo-a

My star selection is purely biased. I grew up eating here. I was raised on this location and it gets a four only because it's a family owned restaurant and new family or something like that took over and to me well it's not quite the same. Non the less it's still my go to spot. I eat the shrimp and lobster or spare ribs. The spare ribs are what used to be the best.

I love subways. Lol It's easy to rate them bc its hardto get them wrong. This one...the place is always clean, plenty of parking, and the sandwiches are good. The staff isn't too shady either. Which is good lol. I go to this one bc it's right by work and easy to get onto the 826 from here.
