Very simple, food was ok not bad. Now I strongly suspect the pizza dough is premade frozen dough. If you look at the bottom of the pizza dough there are venting pits in a symmetrical pattern like what you see in frozen pizza. And it tastes frozen. The crust is too symmetric for hand made pizza. Again not bad but for $22 large pie the dough should be freshly made. I'm a personal chef and this is not a hard thing to accomplish. Still okay place.

Pretty good pizza, a bit pricier for what you get but that may just be a Keys thing. Would order to go again.

I had a sit-down dinner and enjoyed the pizza, a salad and a half-carafe of chianti. While not cheap, I was satisfied with the quality. The next meal was take out and I ordered the pizza, a chicken parmesan and a chicken parm sub. While the pizza was again satisfactory and I'm told the sub was good, the chicken parmesan is perhaps the worst I've ever had. Not only was it a small portion(1 tiny piece of chicken) for the $18.50, but it only came with a salad of lettuce and cheese and there were no other vegetables. The sauce was OK however only about 2 ounces with a big mound of spaghetti. Stick with the expensive pizza if you dare come here.

Was in the mood for pizza, and boy did these guys scratch that itch! The pizza was top-notch, I don't think I've had one half as good in a long time. Generous toppings, and an amazing crust. We also ordered a small garlic bread... it was very tasty, but more like Texas toast than the traditional Italian style we're used to.

We ordered a few pizzas to go and here's what we got and thought: - Bar b que chicken pizza: Pretty good, have to say that was a pleasant surprise. Lots of chicken and toppings and the sauce

The reviews on yelp said the food was good but the wait took forever. We decided to ignore the bad reviews because of all the compliments on how yummy things were. Mistake. We went in, sat at the bar for an easy 20-30 minutes and didn't even get greeted. Let alone a drink or menu. We left and called the next result on yelp which turned out to be the nicest people we've ever met.

Best Pepperoni pizza on the key. I can't comment on the dine-in experience, but take-out worked well on many occasions.

Family owned. Sat and chat with owner while our pizza was being made. Friendly, warm, laid back and genuine. Pizza was fantastic. We'll go again next time we visit Marathon.

The barbecue pizza is fantastic and just the right amount of kick from the jalepenos. May be the best barbecue pizza I've had. The crust is nicely crafted and the pizza in general is really very good, especially for a resort area where they don't need to rely on frequently returning customers. The owner was super friendly and told a good story while I waited for my takeout.

Go for the Pizza, save room for the Tres Leches! The pizza is perfect...fresh dough, fine ingredients and all put together with love. My family LOVES pizza and they gave it a huge THUMBS UP! I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised just how darn good it really was. I'd recommend it to anyone even the most seasoned and traveled pizza connoisseur. But when asked if we want dessert who knew The Keys would have the best Tres Leches we've had in YEARS! Moist but not to wet, sweet but not overly so, fresh, homemade and one you'll tell all your friends about. Make it a pint to make it to Upper Crust.

We've been eating fish for the last 5 days (lunch and dinner). Tonight I was ready for pizza. I was reading the reviews on Yelp to decide which place to go. Upper Crust Pizza had a few negative comments, mostly about service, but there were good comments about the food. I was afraid to eat at Upper Crust but I decided to try it. It is not a chain but a Ma and Pa operation so the sauce must be good. Well, I'm glad we went. The pizza was delicious and the service was better than some restaurants we ate at here in the Keys. Take the chance. The price was a tad high but still worth the visit. The place was packed, so that says something.

As Kenneth says, "marathon restaurants are over starred". I would give the place 2.5 if yelp offered that option. The guy on the phone seemed grumpy. We only had pizza, which we took to go. My comment after eating it was "well, that was disappointing". The surprising part is, it was the (crust) that was the issue for us. If you're looking for a good pizza in marathon, try the Hurricane. I know, who'd think they would have good pizza? Well, we do. This is where we normally order from and will be going back to.

We had the white pizza. It was divine! The crust was perfect- right between thin and thick. It was a little chewy, but still crunchy.... Mmmm!

We stopped for a medium pizza last night-sausage and pepperoni. It's a smallish place in a strip mall and has a small bar. The first lady that we saw seemed to know no English. We were seated and a gentlemen took our order. I said "thank you" after placing the order, but received no reply. The pizza was pretty good-the sausage had a good taste and the pepperoni was run of the mill with a decent crust. It was nice to have pizza, a change from all the seafood (never thought I would say that). $20 with a tip.

Absolutely worst dinning experience I ever had. My wife and I used to frequent this restaurant over 16 years ago when we lived in Marathon. Though I read a number of negative reviews on Yelp about this place, now that we were back in the area, we were anxious to give our old spot a try. It was a Friday night and moderately busy. All it appeared to be on staff was two owners serving tables. After waiting at our table for 5 minutes, a lady comes by with two menus, drops them off and just walks away. Strange, but OK. About 10 minutes later, a guy comes back with an order pad and says, "What do you want?" We give him the order and he does scurry back with our drinks. 45 minutes later, the lady comes back with our appetizer, drops it off, says enjoy, and scurries off again. Yes, appetizer fairly good. About 10 minutes later, our meals come up. Very basic toasted sub sandwiches. Mine was fairly decent. My wife's had burnt spots on the bottom. I know this can be a problem in Italian restaurants which make pizza. Cheese from a previous pizza drips on oven floor, burns, new pizza or sandwich slides in, and old cheese spot gets burned into the bottom of the food. Just need to clean the oven a little more often to prevent this. Also, the meatballs in my wife's sandwich didn't taste right. Bottom line, she couldn't eat it. After about 20 minutes, the lady comes back, asks if there's anything else. My wife informs her what's wrong with the sandwich. The lady gets defensive, and states that all their food is homemade, and that they've never had a complaint about any of their food. My wife suggests she check her Yelp page, as there are several reviews complaining about the food and service on there. The lady just leaves and doesn't say anything. About 5 minutes later, the guy comes back, tells us he wants us to leave and never come back, or he'll call the police for threatening him and his wife. I say what threats? He says your wife is threatening to write a negative review about us and I'm not putting up with threats. I just want you to leave. By now a few people from other tables are looking our way. I explained to the guy, no one is threatening anyone, and that my wife is stating you should check your Yelp page to read the complaints, because as we've experienced, they are fairly accurate. He sill got in a huff, and said I still want you to leave and don't come back here again, then he stormed off. So we started to gather our things as it was getting a little uncomfortable in the restaurant with everyone looking at us, but before we got out of there, the wife of this guy came flying out with a bill for 40 bucks. Guess they did want us to leave quite that fast. So I paid the lady, and we got out of there. All this could have been avoided if when my wife told the lady there was something wrong with her food if the lady would have replied with: I'm sorry, don't know how that happened. Can I make you a new one or maybe something else? My suggestion : If you decide to go here you may or may not be disappointed with the food. You'll likely be disappointed with the service. The food is reasonably priced especially for the Keys, however, if you don't like your food or have a problem, I don't recommend complaining about it. You just might get asked to leave.

Actually horrible. We get our table and water is dripping on us from the ceiling. They refused to serve our appetizers before they put the pizza order in "an hour or more" later. And, after sitting there for an hour, they finally tell us they ran out of pizza dough. What the?!?!?!?! What a bust. And the whole time they were absurdly rude while we were giving the benefit of the doubt. Walked out.

Don't let the outside look of this place turn you away. It has no curb appeal, but once you get inside, and you are greeted and served by what appear to be a husband and wife team, you will be very glad you did not pass up this place. I am from NYC and I was quite shocked to find pizza as good as some of the best pizza you can find in NYC. Not only did they have great pizza, but they had equally good salads and appetizers. The chicken wings were exceptionally good. If you happen to be in Marathon and in the mood for pizza, you can not go wrong at this place. They have other Italian dishes on the menu, but we were there for pizza and appetizers only.

Lets be clear, all restaurants in marathon are over stared, this place is decent, in nyc, sf, or any major city they would be out of business... quickly. but understand where you are and set expectations when you walk in. I will say the meatballs are solid

This restaurant is terrible. Stay away at all cost. The owners are very unpleasant and the food is only fair at best.

You'll be thinking about this pizza days after your meal here. We got there about 20-30 minutes before close and they still served us. In fact, they didn't turn away any parties that came in after us. Small place, family operated, DELICIOUS pizza! I don't eat cheese, so when I order a pizza without cheese, I judge how great it is by whether or not it still tastes decent without cheese. It was amazing :) I'd say the pizza crust is somewhere between thin and thick, as I have seen thicker crusts elsewhere. The Key Lime Pie is homemade and excellent as well. Yes, you could say it is a "hole-in-the-wall" but it is a gem and I would certainly go back. Perfect meal after a day at the beach in the summer sun.

Coming from NJ and working in a pizzeria, I'm naturally critical of pizza. The pizza at upper crust was good (we got a small pie 1/2 meatball) but I would definitely recommend the wings. Pizza wasn't bad! Just thicker crust than we're used to up north. Staff was very pleasant and we had a had nice conversation.

Hole in the wall, but very nice. Great for families. Pizza sauce on the sweet side. We devoured it. My daughter never eats and wanted More chicken parm. Drinks too pricey, but homemade dessert is best in the business. We had both and can't decide which was better. Will definitely be back.

Place is clean and the family that runs it is great! Everyone is very attentive. The prices are a little high, but not out of line for the keys. I had the deluxe pizza and it was good considering what pizza options there are in marathon (and by that I mean chain fast food garbage). All of the food was fresh and not too greasy.

Yelp reviews directed us here. Ordered a veggie pizza and both of us agreed it was superior to almost anything we have in the D.C. area. Very fresh and generous toppings, and the crust was perfect. Service was nice, though we got there shortly before closing and staff patiently waited for us to finish.

Best pizza in Marathon. Papa john's is a rip, they try to charge more than their web site offers. THis place doesn't deliver but it worth the short drive to pick it up or eeat in.

Very tasty. Expect to pay $20 for a large two-item pizza. Crust is crispy on the bottom and edges and has the flavor of bread -- very nice after prefab crusts. Glad we Yelped it! The only thing is, they moved from 22nd and Overseas Hwy about six years ago. Find them at 3740 Overseas Hwy, which is on the Gulf side of the road. Interior of restaurant is nice, with a sweet curved light-wood highly polished bar that looks like a sushi bar! :-) They also have a website, uppercrustpizzainc.com

We were only in the area for a week, and ordered from them twice (and we're pretty picky about pizza). I ordered cheese pizza with garlic, and they put the perfect amount of minced garlic under the cheese. Crust is tasty and good texture.

Great pizza, lots of flavor, and they delivered quickly to feed my hungry family when nobody felt like venturing out. Will definitely be a returning customer!

Very good pizza! Since I have become a member on Yelp, I "yelp" everything so I don't waste my hard earned money any more on things that aren't worth it. Anyway we just ordered a take-out pepperoni pizza. It was hot and ready when I arrived to get it!

We were here at 6pm mid-week and no one else was here. Very surprising since the pizza was very good. We had pizza, cheesy garlic bread and spaghetti. All were good and service was wonderful.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
