Cute atmosphere, like the decor but could be cleaner. Not enough yogurt i the parfait & the menu description was a little deceiving for it. Other traditional items on the breakfast menu were really good. My BF loved the maple syrup. Service was good, food came out fast.

As i think about what to write i eat my cold breakfast after i watch a table that came in twenty minutes after us enjoy their hot food they got ten minutes before we did. What a shame, i was excited when i walked in and saw how it was decorated. Complete let down. My eggs were colder then my chocolate milk.

Great am spot! Loved the coffee and the staff! The girls are very friendly and sweet! Can't wait to bring the whole family for breakfast soon! And they open earlier than anyone else around town!

We came here because it is the same menu/ownership as the Breakfast Shack in Boynton Beach, (which we LOVE!) but this place had outdoor seating. Had a brief chat with the table next to us - one guy had ordered his breakfast with strawberries and the waitress brought his food out without any. When he inquired about it, she said they ran out, someone had run to the store to get some, and that this sort of thing happens all the time! Why anyone would admit this to a customer is beyond me. Shouldn't they always notify customers about changes to the food before it's served? We waited for over an HOUR, while other tables got their food and many others waited as well. Wait staff ran around with food and drinks not knowing where to go. Finally, I went inside to ask the host (tall guy with a hat) about the wait and mentioned that others who arrived well after us had received their food. HE LAUGHED! I told him his response was incredibly inappropriate and he told me that during breakfast time food generally takes 20-30 minutes to prepare. Um - we've still been waiting for an hour, and now you're LAUGHING. We left without food. I plan to call management and complain about his unprofessional (lack of) service. Never going back. RECOMMENDATION: Try the breakfast shack! Go for great food and service not for ambiance; banana macadamia pancakes are delicious.

At about 11 AM on a Tuesday, we were one of only three tables sat, which definitely made me sad for the business and staff. Thankfully, they didn't seem too concerned, as construction is ahead of schedule and set to be finished some time in August. We sat outside because it was a stunner of a day (well, after the torrential downpour that is), but when it's busy we're usually stuck inside. The room itself is cottage cozy, and super casual, with regulars names (including those of my boyfriend's family) painted on the ceiling. Since our last visit in 2012, KB has also bought out the neighbours restaurant and will be expanding with additional seating soon. Service was over the top friendly. Our adorably personable server discovered we were from Canada, and basically told us her whole life story related to her trips up North as a child. It was endearing, and as long as it doesn't interfere with me getting my food the way I want it, I have no problem with Chatty Cathy's. Coffee was hot and plentiful, and their orange juice is freshly squeezed. While I normally would go for one of their "short stack" gourmet pancakes (they have pumpkin, banana nut, strawberry, blueberry, buttermilk, and chocolate), I was sad to hear they were all out of my stand by (the pumpkin). I figured it was probably for the better since I was still in a bit of a food coma from the generous portions the night before. We had Hawaiian Omelet with Fresh Fruit I thought this had the perfect amount of cheese so that it wasn't overwhelming or heavy. I wasn't sure how I was going to like the flavour of egg with tangy pineapple, but it was surprisingly refreshing. Fruit Platter and Cottage Cheese Whenever I order a fruit in a restaurant now, I request that I be given extra of everything else and no melon. I like melon, but 99% of the time it has no flavour and is just filler. No problem at KB! Our server made sure I got lots of my favourites (banana and pineapple) to compensate! So for 2 OJ, 2 decafs (bottomless) and 2 meals, the bill for brunch was about $30 including tax and tip- incredibly reasonable and absolutely worth the trek. Thanks KB. I can't wait for construction to finish up and to embark on my usual walk over the bridge for pumpkin pancakes!

Had breakfast at the Kona Bay Café this morning around 10 a.m. We will NOT be returning. This place was SO dirty and gross. Very disorganized with the seating and food delivery. The "new" owner seems to wander around aimlessly not knowing what he is doing. The only reason we knew he is a new owner is because we over heard the waitress telling the table behind us "it's too bad the original owner sold"...Food not that great. Service fair. Again, we will not be returning. Clean the bathrooms! G.R.O.S.S.

Food was excellent, however it took 45 minutes to get breakfast for a family of 4. My guess is out ticket was lost. Surfrider was delicious. Toast was cold would not melt butter.

My cousin took us here when we were staying with her. It is a small cafe that she likes to frequent.. The first thing I noticed is the ceiling it had pictures and couples names with hearts . It reminded me of that movie "Here on Earth" where couples would write their names on the restaurant wall. It was a good movie but terribly sad...but I like movies like that. I had the Monte Cristo which were cut into 4 manageable pieces. The bread was egg dipped like french toast. It had ham and cheese inside served with fries and a side of syrup. It was that perfect balance between sweet and savory. It was a wonderful breakfast in a nice laid back atmosphere. It instilled my feeling of being on Island time even though our vacation days were coming to an end.

I'm saddened to see a lot of negative reviews of this place, because I've been coming for years and the food and the service has been superb. This is a lantana cafe staffed by lantana people, I don't expect to be treated like anything other than a local. The omelets are totally worth it, and their kona coffee is *the shit.*

First off I will start by saying that my friends and I frequent Kona bay cafe a lot and the food is typically good. It's hot, fresh, and very well priced and they serve breakfast all day which is awesome! The restaurant itself is small but very well lit, very clean, and the staff is friendly... they just extended the indoor dinning room which is nice. They have indoor, and outdoor seating. The only problem with sitting outside is that they do not have anything to stop the birds from coming into the outdoor dining area which can make eating outside a little bit uncomfortable as your constantly having to scare the birds away... Food has always been good... I love the sunshine eggs and their corn beef hash! French toast is also very good here! They have bloody Mary's which is great for those hungover mornings and typically breakfast for two (without bloody's) will run you about $18 which is very reasonable. The reason my review is only 3 stars is because of their service (once service gets better they will increase to 4-5 stars in my book)... The staff is very friendly, but tends to be slow...it always tends to be hit or miss and sadly it has been more miss, than hit...however if you don't mind friendly slow service I suggest you check it out as the food and price will make up for it...

Really Disappointed. We recently moved close by and were really hoping to love this place - and had really high hopes based on all the reviews. First I have to mention the positives - the staff was great, really friendly. The place was clean and the prices are really good. All of which set it up to be the perfect local spot. However, the food was not impressive. It wasn't horrible, but I would prefer to drive a little out of my way and pay more, for better food. We ordered two meals, both very basic - an Omelet and Scrambled Eggs with Hash Browns. First the Omelet was so full of cheese that it was overpowering any other flavor, and it wasn't the runny gooey kind of cheese, it was thick and greasy and clumped solidly together. Then my dish, the eggs were fine but it was the hash browns that I had been waiting to try. Multiple yelpers said they have the BEST ever. Not so true for my liking. They were brown but not crispy on the outside, mushy on the inside and still cold in the center :( Maybe we were just there on an off day? But, sadly don't think we will be going back any time soon.

Excellent place! Great food. Great ambiance. Tropical feel. One of my favorite places to have breakfast. But cone early because they close at 2pm.

Love this little cafe...Great food! Fast and friendly service. I had the eggs florentine.... The eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was full of flavor. Great place to grab a quick meal or hang and relax with the music.

I walked into absolute chaos and I actually had to leave. The wait staff was overwhelmed and not seating people at tables that were available. Then, the waitresses were complaining about the customers who were questioning the long wait despite the fact that tables were open. Another couple who was waiting even longer followed me when I left. What a shame. I won't be back anytime soon. I'll miss the good food but I wasn't able to get a seat here anyway...

If you're looking for an incredible breakfast at a great price, kona bay is the place. I had the Florentine , the eggs were perfect, the sauce was good and the English muffin was perfectly toasted, sometimes over looked. I will suggest getting the kona coffee, though the house is a great brew. The hash browns looked like they were smashed patties, but at the end there were none left so kudos to the chef. The staff was friendly, we had Kristen, she started our Sunday off in grand fashion! I will be back, great place for a causal meal!

Stopped in for brunch. Bloody Mary nice and strong. Food tasted great. Seafood chowder was average, using imitation crab instead of the real thing.

Worse fucking service My food was served cold, sat there for 20 min before the waitress even came back to the table. The host is some tall baboon that couldn't care less. WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN!!

I have lived in Palm Beach County for a long time and have a few great spots for breakfast, like John G's, City Diner, etc., so Kona has some competition. I think I'll use a "pro's n con's" format: Pro's- 1) Location 2) Island Motif 3) Friendly staff Con's- 1) Too warm inside 2) Trying to get coffee refill was WORK! 3) My wife's eggs and grits - both cold! 4) Grits were dried out like they sat for 45 minutes (we make them at home, so we know) - Recommend the cook takes a day off and visits City Diner - order JUST the grits and ENJOY! 5) I ordered the Blueberry French toast. Not bad, but I was disappointed because the review sites showed pictures with either a blueberry compote or a blueberry syrup. What I got was French Toast with a FEW fresh blueberries on top. Not enough either. I tried to ask for more, but the servers were too busy to notice me looking for them. Again, for great French Toast - have cook visit John G's which is maybe half a mile away. Why would I go to Kona for French Toast with legendary FT that nearby? Suggestions - 1) Cool the place down! Get better window treatments/film to cut the morning sun. 2) Provide more staff and the staff needs to run their butts off. 3) Hot breakfast has to be hot. 4) I love fresh blueberries, but maybe change the menu to say "French Toast WITH Fresh Blueberries" instead of Blueberry French Toast. And give the customers a few more blueberries! 5) Coffee was ok. Not special. Find a way to make it stand out! Check out Habitat Coffee on Clematis. Amazing stuff. I spoke to our server about the cold food and lack of coffee refills and blueberries. She apologized (good move!) and explained that they were short staffed and that they used to use a blueberry compote, but someone complained, so management changed it. Well, you can't please everyone. We left- not upset, because the server seemed to care and apologized, offering warm grits to go (no...sorry, too late) and a coffee to go, which I accepted. I may go back, but I'm not going to refer friends, yet. Good luck!

What a great meal! Even the coffee was delish. I had the Island Shrimp Wrap and my boyfriend had the Lava Burger. We were impressed with the unique flavor and freshness of the food ingredients. Service was attentive and overall great! Such a nice experience! We will come back!!

I'd give it a negative star if I could. Hair in my food. Waitstaff disorganized. Didn't bother checking on our party after food came out. Gets very busy very quickly and you get left by the way side. My son took two bites of his food and no one bothered to check if his food was ok. In total, we've been here for 1.5hrs for breakfast. Sad this place is so popular. Ps had to search for someone to give us the bill.

Affordable , great menu. Eggs aren't greasy , they have a kids menu too. I eat here regularly - one of my favorites in the area . Great food, quick and friendly service. Breakfast served all day!

  • Lisa K.

The place said all day breakfast, cute, in & outdoor eating and food good @ good price. hUGE BUT, the bird outside feasted on each tables leftovers, they flew around us, waited 5 feet from us. The waitress although nice didn't make any attempt to spray or wash tables after bird feast. It was disgusting! The birds nested in the tiki umbrellas above. The health dpt isn't doing their job. I hope the mgmt reads this & finds a way to have a healthy place. Hard to believe they don't overlook other things if the bird thing doesn't bother them. It's the owners issue. They need to make a cleaning system. What about shiny objects hanging or spray bleach after each customer leaves and birds feed. Pick up the plates ASAP. They look like they didn't try anything which is a bother. Don't go...

Fish tasted and smelled fishy. Corned beef hash out of a can. Hashbrowns seemed packaged. I sat with my glass empty forever and nobody checked back. Eggs were hard. One visit was enough for me.

Definitely Chaos!! Walked in and stood there for 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we were there.....we left and will not be back!! Ridiculous!!!

Breakfast has always been good here and lunch was too. Had the mahi sandwich and my son had bacon cheeseburger. Both tasted great and the slaw was homemade. Price was excellent too.

Sat outside and was constantly swatting flies and birds from my food. The waitress was telling every table that the service was slow because they were a person down (how about suck it up and stop making excuses for why you're slow and forgetful?) Got my order wrong, forgot to bring us silverware, had to ask twice for the hot sauce...meh. I had the Big Kahuna. The bacon was amazing and the eggs were exactly how I wanted them, once over easy. The pancakes were bad. Flat and dense. Not fluffy and light, which is what one looks for in a breakfast restaurant pancake. My bf had the Volcano omelette which was pretty delicious. Overall: Food is hit or miss. Service: friendly, but poor. Doubt I'll be coming back.

I used to live around the corner, came here once for breakfast and the food was amazing! But the bartenders were very unprofessional and distracting. They were eating behind the bar while gossiping with a full bar. They weren't even trying to be sneaky about eating. There were open pitchers of water sitting by the dirty dishes. The food was actually really good, I had banana macadamia pancakes and coffee. We decided to take a friend there, we warned him that the service was spotty but that the food was great. What a mistake. We went on a sunday, but went earlier, around 9 to try to beat the brunch crowds. There was no A/C, so it was ungodly hot. We waited about 30 minutes and then sat down. The server didn't come over for a solid 15 minutes. By the time she got there, my we ordered everything. People that sat down after us got food before us. I was a server for 8 years, so to me I understand that things happen. My problem was that no one once came out to let us know what was going on. Our guest was actually so irritated that I saw beads of sweat pouring off his forehead and you could see the frustration on his face. We felt bad. After 40 minutes, we got our breakfast. But my husband's was cold. He was so upset he didn't even want to eat it. My biggest problem here is that obviously this staff needs management. If you let them get away with eating and gossiping behind the bar on one experience and then on another, no one comes out to our table to apologize on a very busy sunday. Where is the manager here? Get control of your staff and your kitchen. This place has potential, but will fail if it keeps giving out experiences like this.

I can't say how happy I was to have been invited to breakfast here. I've wanted a new yummy breakfast spot for so long! I love the eggs beny and the mimosas are delish. Also, the coffee is excellent! I've been a few times now and this last time there was a cool steel drum player - such a treat! We withstand the wait and always sit outside - that area of Lantana is so cute ;)

We used to eat at Kona Bay frequently but the last few times we have gone, the service is horrible. This morning we entered at 10:30am. No one looked up to acknowledge us or say hello. We waited 15 more minutes, the couple next to us had been waiting even longer. We began talking with the couple, they explained that no one had acknowledged them either and there were 5 empty tables waiting to be bussed. We left and so did the other couple. Instead we all went to the Old KeyLlime House, we were greeted immediately with a smile and sat overlooking the water. When we told the Key Lime hostess about our experience, another single customer sitting at the bar explained that she just left Kona as well because they had her waiting for 25 minutes. We live in the neighborhood and we will NOT be going back to Kona Bay!!!!!

This place is really cute and a great location but the service here sucks.. We decided to sit outside all the tables were dirty it took about 15min to get the table cleaned then another 15min for the server to come bring us menus then another 15min for her to take our order then about another 20min to get our food the 1 thing on the menu that I really wanted they didn't have.. I got the Banana Mac Nut Pancakes which were good but the presentation was lacking my family enjoyed their meals.. So the food is good it is just the service that is major lacking... it also took another 15-20min to find the waitress to pay... Hopefully they will hire more help soon...

This place is a very popular breakfast place for locals. It's a nice walk to the beach with a stop along the way. Husband and I stopped for lunch today at twelve thirty. He ordered the oceans 3 platter. It was fried haddock, shrimp and clams. French fries and coleslaw too. For $10.99. It was good! I ordered the crabby patty sandwich with fruit. We ordered and it took an hour before our meal was delivered. Then, they delivered a patty melt instead of the crabby patty sandwich! The waitress said she'd put a rush on it. I sat and ate some of my husband's fries (was starving by then, since we hadn't had breakfast or anything and it was one thirty!). The crabby patty was delivered about ten minutes later. It was so disgusting! I don't know what it was (reminded me of some sort of Pate) but it was inedible. I had my husband try just the crab cake part and he agreed it was gross! Waitress came over and I asked for the bill. I also told her that I should've kept the patty melt and that that was the worst crab cake I have EVER tried! She apologized, I said "It's not your fault". We got the bill. It was $27.52 for two soda's, my husband's meal and a crab cake sandwich that I did not have more than one bite of. Breakfast menu was super reasonable. We watched as several people who were seated after us, receive their breakfast way before we received our lunch. So I guess I could say, try the place for breakfast but skip lunch there!

We had been there before and I loved the Hawaii theme of the place and the food was really good. We went back today and although the food was decent, these guys really need to get their act together. I'm a pretty patient person but the staff was just really uncoordinated. They weren't rude at all but just seemed clueless. We've been to Hawaii where the ambience is REALLY laid back and you can't be in a rush but this experience was just a new level of slow. If at the very least get us some coffee and let us know you're a little backed up. We waited more than 20 minutes after we sat JUST for coffee, and really at that point it wasn't so packed. A table of 6 left while we were there because nobody took their order and we watched and listened as table after table grew frustrated with their breakfast experience. I SOOOO want to love this place. I will probably go back at some point to give it another shot. Hopefully I can revise my review.

Went here for the first time yesterday. The service, well, lets just say lacking. Waited at the counter for 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging us then finally got drinks ordered. Asked to move to a table, and then waited for another 10 minutes for menus. 25 or so min. to order, a little long considering the size of the place. Food took only 10 minutes or so, but they were out of slaw, which was part of my grouper Reuben, and didn't tell me. Served some weird pasta (I think) in place. My wife's tuna croissant was good as were the sweet potato fries. Overall food was worth returning, but the service will keep me away. Sorry.

I love the service here. Their hash browns are the best I've ever had. Their breakfast is just plain delicious. Place looks clean. It's by the intercoastal so what's there not to like about this place. It's my new favorite breakfast spot.

Everyone else is crazy, this place was awesome! After visiting all 50 states except Maine and Alaska this place by far has the best breakfast ever (and it's served all damm day) in the U.S.; how awesome is that? Here are the reasons why this place rocks: 1. They serve bloody buddies (peppery and strong) and mimosas. Nuff said 2. They are not hurting for business, so you know that they are doing something really, really well 3. Our server got the notice from the night before that she had to pickup a shift to cover for another girl and she was still super attentive, and on her game (the outside servers when they get your drinks cover all three tables for orders! No place does that). Now for the food. 1. The pancake options are many and varied (the banana/macadamia nut was cooked well and did not skimp on the extras), and it still held together well (anyone who has made these knows that they can come apart extremely easy), the strawberry and almond ones looked very good also. 2. They have many types of breakfast sausages and GET THIS; veggie breakfast patties, my Vegetarian GF went apeshit over this. 3. The hash browns taste like the McDonald's ones, that is a deal breaker (positive) right there but the other stuff is pretty nice also. Great place, coming back for next years Oktoberfest

This place is cute. We went on a Sunday close to noon, and the place was nearly full. Luckily, there was space for 2 on the patio, so we were seated immediately. The service was friendly and attentive, and the food is priced VERY reasonably. I was extremely happy with the prices in terms of the type of food they serve - by that I mean the food is good, but isn't organic or bursting with flavor...like I said, it's 'good.' I'd recommend this place as a quick, low budget stop for brunch if you're in the Palm Beach area. The venue was clean and the staff was great. I have noticed that the other reviews have some complaints about the service, so hopefully if you go your experience will be similar to mine in regards to that!

We've been here 3 times and always really enjoyed our meals. I've had both breakfast and lunch here and found everything to be tasty and affordable. I really like the breakfast sandwich and the eggs benedict. I also had a great turkey rueben. I am always shocked at how affordable the food is! The waitresses are also really attentive and lovely. It's quickly becoming a regular spot for us.
