COCKROACHES!!!! Really! Okay, so 6 months after our so-so experience at the Texas Roadhouse in Lakeland, we went back to give it another try. We were seated in the bar area (as we requested) and started out with some drinks and water. Although after the last time (march) the manager had emailed me that the water problem was solved, the water still tasted VERY much like chlorine. Disgusting with food, so we gave it back to our wonderful waitress Jessy, who gave us new glasses of water, now from the bar tap. Less chlorine, but still chlorine in there. So ASK FOR bottled water!!! We had a nice evening of fun and food and were getting ready to ask for the check when I noticed my husbands eyes bulging. I looked over and here is a COCKROACH climbing all over the menu (menu's are standard on the side of the tables)... Ieuwwww... so we asked if somebody would be so nice to remove this unwanted thing from our table (Roach was leisurely enjoying whatever was on our table)... So, thank god, the manager Garett shows up. His reaction: "Yes, well... this IS Florida". I was flabbergasted for a moment, and didn't know if I would start laughing or get really angry. DUDE! Really! I see no lizards in your restaurant.. Florida is known for that too. Come on! After I got pretty angry, he offered to take the appetizer off the check and $30. And I do very much appreciate this, but honestly... The reaction of that guy did it for me. This restaurant has only been open for a couple of months and they really have major issues. And where there is one roach you can see, there are probably hundreds feasting in a place you cannot see. I will NEVER go back there. (But the waitress was really, really nice!)

Had a great lunch here. Servers are all over the place in large numbers. Hope they keep it this way! Had fried pickles for an app, my friend made me try them, they were awesome. Had a half rack of ribs for lunch and they were very good. Only complaint would be for them to have some bbq sauce on the side. It needed just a bit more for my taste. Otherwise, great flavor. Friend had the chicken fried chicken. Massive platefull! Pepper gravy needed a bit of s&p but, otherwise good. Cant wait to try everything else. Saw plates passing me by that looked amazing. Lakeland certainly needs a place like this. Hope the good service continues. So far so good.

Defitinly call ahead for seating, the place was packed for a Thurs. Night. The service was good, food was good (we had chicken "critters" and sirloin tips w/ gravy over mashed potatoes. Kid's meals came out super quick and was inexpensive. My only complaint was I don't like being rushed through dinner. Oh and by the way fill up on bread, it was delish. I would go back and all of my partners agreed.

went for dinner last night, food was great, service from kate was exceptional, very fun lively place ,would have been 5 stars except the music was soooo loud you could barely hear others at the table screaming, hopefully they will tone it down a notch.

Sorry, but a bad review. I went there with family for my mother's 75th birthday. We went at 2:30 p.m. thinking it might be less crowded. Perhaps it was, but everyone was squeezed in one part of the restaurant. We should have left when we saw the seating arrangement. We called ahead by a half hour to say we were a party of 9, adults only. What did they do? Put a rickety table next to a long booth. The height of the booth table did not match that of the table. Poorly executed. Next was the service. Our server (I know his name, but will will not post) was put off by the whole thing. When taking orders he would write something down and then really push the speciality drinks and add ons. "Do you want that smothered?" "I wouldn't get a Long Island Ice Tea because it's not a specialty here. You should try this specialty drink." We understand he is supposed to push stuff, but don't get snotty when we politely say, "no," which he did. My sister gave her order and when she added, "Oh, and I don't want the smothered with sauce, please," he replied, "I didn't ask if you did." Yeah, it sounded just like you might have heard it in your head as you read that sentence. So my niece's order is taken and he moves on, but then she adds, "Oh, did I tell you medium rare?" he replied, "You didn't say anything." Then why didn't you ask? Isn't that your job? The food was... it just was. Nothing special, and my food was downright bad. Now, I admit that I was at a steakhouse and didn't have the steak. I settled on the salmon which was a total and utter disaster. Overcooked, obviously (and I mean obviously) old fish that was so overseasoned it was pathetic. People might say, "Well, that is your fault. You shouldn't eat fish at a steakhouse, stupid." Then why is it on the menu? If they don't want to sell it, then they won't put it on the menu. A restaurant puts what it has on a menu because it is stating, "We will cook this in a way you will enjoy it." And it was fish. Not that hard to deliver. Just don't over cook it, make sure it is fresh and don't overseason it. But they did every single one of those no-nos. Oh, and did I mention that they screwed up the orders? Three of the nine orders were not put in, so we had to wait about 15 minutes after the others for them to arrive. Mine was one of those late orders. A young woman came to the table to apologize when orders got screwed up and a few minutes after the late orders arrived. She was very apologetic and we accepted her apology. She asked how the food was, and I was honest. It didn't taste good, and she wanted to make another order. I told her that wasn't necessary, really, really wasn't necessary, but she said, "No, I will put it in now." It never came. When she realized that she said, "WAIT! I'll get that and put it in a to-go." PLEASE! JUST LET ME GO HOME! But we waited, and she arrived with the food. It smelled so bad, but it was early in her shift and I didn't want to make her feel bad. I thanked her. We were not charged for my meal, and she gave us a $15 gift certificate for our troubles. I gave it to one of my nieces, who lives out of town and likes her Texas Roadhouse. I knew I wouldn't go back. I feel bad mostly for my mother. She wanted a family meal and we choose the wrong place. It was loud. The server was icky. The food was blah. And we didn't even sit at a comfortable table. And the fish I took home? I threw it out. Sorry, but the whole experience was unprofessional. I didn't trust that the cooks in the back would be professional of a meal they were asked to redo.

Food is always great and service is too regardless of location. One of the few places that always cooks my extra rare steak right. Add an order of ribs to your next meal, you won't regret it !

After reading all of the 2 star reviews, I was hesitant to eat here. But, my husband liked his meal at the Orlando Roadhouse, so we gave it a shot on Friday night. I was pleasantly surprised! The Caesar salad was fresh, crisp and very tasty. My steak was cooked perfectly and the broccoli was fresh and not cooked to mush. I was happy to be able to eat a healthy meal. We will be back!

We went in for an early lunch. Our area smelled horrible--like heavy mildew & mold. I don't like hotel rooms in this flavor and I sure don't like eating with that dank smell. There was no getting away from it. I liked that the music wasn't blasting. Peanuts on the table for snacking and they brought some unimpressive not warm small rolls with a whipped butter I couldn't identify the flavor of, while we perused the menu. It took forever for the waitress to return and take our orders tho the restaurant was not full. My friend recommended the 8.99 six ounce steak with 2 sides. I asked for medium rare but got medium well and very salty. (They did ask how was my steak, I didn't want to wait for a re-do so kept my barely pink center.) Nice salad and honey French dressing. Small baked potato was covered in giant salt flecks like a margarita glass. Everything was quite edible but I felt "missed the mark". Mediocre waitress support, too salty food, blah rolls, smelly mildew ambiance. The most irksome part was the $12 bill on a $9 order. Turns out she upcharged me for mushrooms and onions. If you are going to ask "would you like" you have an obligation to tell me there's an upcharge or they're included. That's dastardly and almost cost her the tip. They were good and I did order them, but dang, folks, be honest not sneaky. I won't be back due to the overall experience.

Visited recently and I must say, I really like this place. *Got to throw peanut shells on the floor *Piping hot bread with cinnamon butter to go with *Super tender cuts of steak *Fall off the bone ribs Our waitress was very tentative and everything was served at a good pace. It does get kinda loud though between all the TV's, random large groups, and the all server line dances...but otherwise a decent place to have a meal. I sampled the sirloin, ribeye, New York strip, and the ribs (hooray for eating with folks that love to share as well!) Will be back again!

I will say the service was fantastic, Lawrence has been the best. It's a very charismatic joint if you can handle guest and servers every few minutes hollering, but the food was terrible... Cesar salad contained small bits of egg and quite possibly old mayo in the dressing, the burger was poorly put together and undercooked for a place who claims to be a steakhouse. Altogether, the people are great and the food very under par.

THE BEST EXPERIENCE EVER! Steak melted, sweet tea was perfect. Manager came over and visited with us, nice touch. Exceptionally professional staff and extremely polite. This is the best value steakhouse in town meals from 8.99. We had the Sunday steak special for 11.99, 11oz sirloin, salad and side, plus their famous fresh roll, hot out of the oven. We will be going back

Bar Tender was excellent, attentive, and knew exactly what we wanted, but the BATHROOM (MENS), smelled horrible... I have been in truck stops that smelled better! Unbelievable how bad it smelled, this is a place I was expected to eat food at!! Music was extremely loud, and normal conversation became a 1 to 1 yelling match! The 1 Star I gave is for the Bar Tender, because she was a Star, but that's where it STOPPED! I'm walking out and the smell is still lingering!!!! Yes, I told someone, but they did NOTHING

I usually love this place. I normally get the ribs though. Decided to try the country fried sirloin. I'm pretty sure the sodium in that got me 10 steps closer to a stroke. Seriously, everything I got on my plate was so salty. So so so so salty. The sirloin, mashed potatoes, and green beans...all so damn salty! Even the fried rattlesnake bites or whatever tasted salty. Maybe my taste has changed or they were having an off night. But I was thirsty as hell hours afterwards. I'll update my review if I come here again. Service was good though.

Haven't been to this Texas Roadhouse since they opened, as I live in Vermont. The waitstaff were nice and I recognize what happened at dinner was not their fault, but whoever is their cook/chef, was or is terrible, I ordered a Ft. WORTH, 16 OZ RIBEYE, which is what I have at every Roadhouse I attend, sounds boring but it is what I like, and I had yet to be disappointed until tonight, first I don't believe it was a ribeye, I ordered rare, it came med well and so tough and dry I couldn't eat it. I replaced it with a half rack of spare ribs, meat did fall off the bone, but was not tender but overcooked and poor flavor, sorry for the staff having to deal with such poor products.

I have eaten at this particular Texas Roadhouse several times, so I think I have a pretty good grasp on things to do a review. They definitely get busy, so if you go during prime time hours, (5pm-8pm), expect a wait. I've had outstanding service when they were slow, and mediocre service when they were busy. Overall, I'd say the service falls into the category of "good" but not "great." The best service I seem to get is when I sit at the bar. For a chain restaurant, they serve a very good steak, or as good as a grain fed or grain finished steak can taste. I think their steaks are far better than Manny's, but not on par with a place like Texas Cattle Co., although TCC has become hit-or-miss with their performance as well (see my review of TCC if you wish). Of course, in fairness to Texas Roadhouse, TCC is a whole different price bracket as well. The best way to get out of this place at a reasonable price is to go around 4pm and get the early bird specials. From the early bird menu, I ordered the 6oz sirloin and it comes with two sides for $7.99. That is an incredible deal. And if you are a bread eater, they'll keep bringing you their fresh bread and peanuts all evening, so you could easily get out of there with a dinner for two, including tip for $25. They have a whole list of early bird specials to choose from, and the portion sizes are just right. It's really hard for me to rate a chain restaurant above 3 stars, but let me tell you why it got four stars. My steak came out undercooked, not once, but twice, while I was there celebrating a friend's birthday. I wasn't angry or rude; I just informed the waitress that I wanted it cooked correctly. The manager came over to speak with me and personally went back to cook the steak himself. He brought back a fresh plate of everything, not just the steak, and informed me that my entire dinner and drinks were on the house. I would have been just fine with the steak cooked correctly, but I applaud and appreciate his commitment to customer service. That's how it is supposed to be, and kudos to this Texas Roadhouse location for having a competent management staff that cares about their customer's experience.

My friends came here to eat but I had to work on that night, but I asked them to purchase a rib eye (medium rare to medium) for me and bring it to me after they ate. I decided I was not going to snack on anything and waited for my steak. it was approximately $20 after tax n tip and when I had my first bite, it was WELL DONE! How do you get a WELL DONE steak when you asked for medium rare? I called because that was unacceptable. I spoke to the manager and he apologized and promised he would send me a gift card to make up for this horrible steak! I wasn't going to use it. I was probably just going to give it to a friend. HOWEVER, it's been at least 3 months later and I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT!!!! Horrible steak! And a manager who does not fulfill his promises. Basically, the manager is nothing but a LIAR! If I could give zero stars I would. Never again.

Food was awesome!!! Our waitress Tiffany was so sweet and helpful and even took my margarita off the bill because it was supposed to be frozen and the machine was down. Even though it was busy I still felt like we were going to be taken care of by whoever walked by! Will deff go again!!!

The dinner rolls are the only thing worthy of one star. I ordered my salad without eggs. I got my salad 25 minutes later and it was mostly lettuce and no croutons. I figured no big deal I've had two and half rolls and peanuts, so I will save room for my steak. I got my 11 oz sirloin(cooked to medium) about 45 minutes after ordering it. My steak was not only nearly burnt and dry, but a cheap low end grade of steak. It had a fake liquid smoke flavor and was inedible. Our server did get the dinners comped and we received a return for dinner for two on them coupon, but I'm not one to complain for freebies and will just choose to not return and spend any more of our money at this establishment.

Took two hours to bring the food! The chicken was okay, but I'd never come back. Don't even try the rice.

Been here twice ...the first time the service was horrible, feels like they have a bunch of high school kids working. The wannabe onion bloom was disgusting and the food wasn't very appetizing. On the positive side the decoration was nice and the bread was tasty..

Went for lunch on a Friday. Timely service.. nice people and the Burger was great. Have had their steaks.. very good. I think they are a bit pricey? But not out of market for a chain steakhouse.

Not entirely impressed with the place. Visited this location twice and will not be back. Wasn't very busy and waitress never came back to see how the food was. One side item was forgotten. I got the pulled pork plate and I've had better. My mom got one of their steaks and had orderd it medium well and it came out well done. Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

I just moved to Lakeland from Orlando. My favorite place for "fall off of the bone" ribs in Orlando was Miller's Ale House, but The Texas Roadhouse down here in Lakeland has them beat! Great food, great service, great atmosphere...just a lot of fun and, yes, their rib meat fall off the bone as well! I highly recommend The Texas Roadhouse!

Not worth the wait. While the server was prompt and courteous, the order took forever to be delivered, on the order of almost an hour, they forgot at least one item from each of three dinners. It was loud ( OK Roadhouse, I get it, but we couldn't hear each other with out shouting). A "Manager" came over and offered an excuse about not having enough dishes... This is not the first time this has happened there, but it is the last. Never going back.

My girlfriends favorite place to grab a steak. The cinnamon butter is always great on the rolls they provide and the steak is usually reasonable. When we were here last there was a bit of an annoyance. The place was empty so instead of being consistent with service the employees were chit chatting and milling about. Other than that, the food was consistent with Texas Roadhouse standards and our experience was good.

Management has Poor customer service.. Me and my family went to enjoy dinner as a family ordering four bone in ribeye dinners medium when they where brought to the table only one was cook to medium temp. The rest where raw and had to be sent back to be cooked up when brought back to the table they were still raw but burned on the out side we then asked four them to just cook us fresh steaks they where gone a min before returning with one of the same steaks I told the manager just to forget about them she insisted that they had one still being cooked. my son said OK I really don't want it now but you could just put it in a box I guess I will take it home. We where charged $70 four one steak and one in a box never was apologized to from management or offerd at least a discount on are next visit we were regular customers at this location but as long as it's under same management we will not be back we understand cooks have there mess ups but the management just didn't give a sh** about her customers!! 09/16/14 Tues. Night

The food was pretty good, I got the smothered chicken and my wife got pulled pork. We also got fried pickles for an appetizer and I got a Caesar salad. Between those and the buns I can't complain about the food! The peanut shells on the floor.. is interesting. Apparently it's a "tradition" but it seems like a health hazard, but what do I know. We waited almost two hours on a Saturday, mainly because the place is new and everyone wants to try it. You can put your name on a wait list by calling ahead or going on their website, which is something we will definitely be doing next time!
