This is a great place to go for lunch. My boyfriend wanted me to try the Greek Burger, but I decided to go with the regular bacon and cheeseburger (always a safe bet). I was not disappointed.I was not WOWed by my food, but I did find Philly cheese steak to be phenomenal (I clearly ate off of my boyfriend's plate). Also, the coleslaw was good, again, nothing to write home about. The service was very good, atmosphere was relaxed, not as packed as I've heard it to be. I am not from the area but I feel that it was a great representation of the type of hospitality one would expect from Lakeland.

Great service, great food, good tea. I am a very picky eater. I found a sandwich that I wanted and it was amazing. I was able to customize my sandwich to my tastes. ( Philly with American cheese no onions or peppers) girl at the counter was very busy but super helpful and sweet. Will eat here again for sure.

Outstanding. Fresh food, a wonderful owner and a vision of delicious food make this place a winner. The customer service was outstanding...the owner brought me a sample of four soups I couldn't decide between. One was just as good as the other. Highly recommend a visit to this local gem!

Went here for lunch and got the BLT. There had to be a 1/2 lb of bacon on there. The bread was fresh and they shredded the lettuce ultrathin. It was delicious! My two coworkers got a turkey melt and a cuban and they were both completely satisfied. Its hard to find a lunch for under $10 anymore so hit this place up. They have water instilled with fresh strawberries and lemon to wash it all down. The people who work here are genuinly nice and aren't just trying to get your money.

Yelp reviews nailed this place on the head. Its kinda off the main road and could be easily missed. At noon the place was full, so definitely a good sign. I ordered the melted Italian sandwich. Absolutely delicious! I couldnt find one thing I would change. Sandwiches come with a side; i got the tater tots based on yelp reviews. Also amazing! I will be back to try other dishes!

ALWAYS packed.. we love their french onion soup crocks. The service is stellar.. but sometimes it seems like the soup is watered down. If we come on a Monday (they are closed on Sundays) the onion soup is INCREDIBLE, but later in the week it seems like they keep adding the old soup to a new batch plus water. Hit or miss that's why only 3 stars.

The food and atmosphere is exceptional. The staff is extra exceptional. And the owner is SUPRA-exceptional. I was a co-host for my family's private event held there today, June 14th. The owner offered professional courtesies to us, over and beyond what would be expected. I will eat here every time I am in Lakeland during hours. Thank you, Purple Onion!!!! Classy!

Based on yelp reviews my family and I visited for lunch when we were passing through town. They served really good fresh food that was inventive and tasty. Try the fried pickles, served with green goddess dressing they were a really unique appetizer that everyone liked. We enjoyed the fried green beans in the salad and the whole wheat bread tasted fresh baked in my "real chicken" chicken salad sandwich. All you can drink, serve yourself beverages, combined with a friendly wait staff on a nice downtown street and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back again!

Purple Onion is a great place for a quick lunch - it does get busy at times, which I take as a good thing - but they have always been helpful to us (even with two little ones in tow), kind and attentive but not overly so - a few steps up from a diner. Don't expect fine dining, but its good homey food. The black bean soup is our go to favorite, and the price beats stopping at any mainline eatery like Panera. They do need a facebook page or something, agreed on that one!

I'll start off this review by saying I was hesitant to go here, even with the reviews online. It might just be me but I like seeing menus and such before I arrive somewhere, and in this day and age I think every restaurant and company should have an online presence. Since you can get a website for under $10 a month and a Facebook page is free I'm a little confused on why this place does not have any of that. But anyway, after taking the leap to go here (PS: They are open 10:30-3 Monday-Saturday) my wife and I are glad we did! We have been there twice now (The only open for lunch part makes it hard to make it out there). The soups are great (my wife is addicted to the french onion!), salads are good, pitas and sandwiches are also good, and the toasted raviolis are delicious! We will be back! But seriously, get a Facebook page going, or something.

The shop looks nice and eclectic. We were seated immediately, given time to look at the menu. But when I asked if the naked French onion soup was a beef base, the waitress said, I suppose so....my next question was if the lentil soup had any meat or what the base of the soup was and now she was getting a bit annoyed and said she did not know. I am grateful that she didn't just lie to shut me up. So I quickly order the half of garden salad. Another bagged salad with wilted slimy tender leaves and shredded cheese on the top. Not worth the price.....Not a plant based meal friendly establishment, but the service was prompt..........

I've been wanting to eat here for a long time but they seem closed every time I pass by. They have tinted windows and they may be tricking this diner. The place is highly reviewed on URBAN SPOON. My opportunity to eat here was a private party. $10 bought two soup choices, Cuban sandwiches and Caesar or house salads with homemade cookies for dessert. Let's start from the top. Great unsweet tea. Next, fresh salads with great dressings! I liked both the balsamic and the house dressing/Italian. The Cuban was tasty Americanized to lots of ham and mustard, great bread but not too "Cubany". The best seller of the place was their rockin' soups! The roasted red pepper tomato bisque was to die for. The homey chicken 'n noodle was stocky and flavorful. I'd go back just for the 5-star soup. They had great cookies--my favorite was a soft light snickerdoodle type cookie shaped more like a clam shell or scone. I'll be back. This was a great deal for food for a meeting for about 20. The acoustics for hearing in the meeting was terrible though. Ambiance/decor was "industrial" at best-cement floor, cement structural beams within the room, etc. Food is well worth shutting your eyes. Once I figure out their hours for my dining pleasure, that is.

The menu is full of delicious items it makes it hard to choose; I guess we'll just have to keep coming bak to try them all! The service was great and the food was delicious. I had the cuban and my husband had the Italian melt, we shared and yes, they are both wonderful. The green bean fries with green goddess dressing, perfect little app! Go, give it a try its delicious. I only wish they were open for dinner. Hours-10:30-3pm Mon-Sat closed on Sunday.

The decor is non-existent, but it doesn't matter because the food is delicious. I had a turkey melt and tater tots. It was on pressed cuban bread with a good quality swiss cheese. My parents had the fish and chips and said it the fish was fresh and very good. The price was good for the amount of food that you get. We will definitely be back. I wish they were open past 3 pm and on Sundays.

Super delicious and fresher than Panera! I got the half BLT with a cup of chicken noodle and it was one of the best BLTs I've ever had. The chicken noodle was decent. My friend got a salad with chicken and fried green beans which was delectable. A definite new favorite! Crispy bacon!

Skip Jimmy Johns and go here instead. Right down from JJs on the opposite side. Amazing and unique soup selections. Last time I was there I had a buffalo chicken soup. Sounds weird but was so good. Get there early to beat the lunch rush and for the best soup selection.
