Great place for some good Italian food. We used to visit Carraba's all the time but recently their prices have gone up and the quality of food has gone down. Not the same story at Palace! The price is right and the portions are HUGE. I challenge you to finish a dinner portion. Their lasagna is the size of my head. Pick what you like to eat. Everything is served with an abundance of cheese and sauce. I LOVE their vodka sauce. It's to die for. They also have fantastic Pizza's. The same owners have the original Palace Pizza downtown. My recommendation: no matter how full you are... have dessert. They are always delicious.

All I can say is WOW!!! I am from New Jersey and live in TX, I had no idea I had to come to Lakeland FL to find a great Italian Restaurant. I am extremely critical of Italian food and this place blew me away. The atmosphere is very nice, a nice Italian family runs it. I went with a big group, so I will give a run down on what I tasted. Chicken Franchese- was amazing... Perfectly cooked and sauce was great. Eggplant- excellent, sauce was good and well cooked. Chicken Sorrentino- again, an excellent dish, perfectly done. I can't wait to come back to Lakeland to visit family again so I can come back.

Worst pizza ever!!! Canned vegetables, tastless crust, garlic rolls with no garlic. Waste of money. Avoid at all cost.

Really enjoyed our meals tonight. I had the baked ziti and husband had spaghetti and meatballs. Our 4 YO ate a little both of both our meals. Not only were the main dishes delicious, but the salad and bread was great too!!

This is my #1 choice, always. Their specials are always amazing, classic italian food with huge portions!! Tiramisu is a must have as well, and they have great wine specials.

Decent little local Italian restaurant. Nicely decorated with an open kitchen, dark tones, semi romantic. They always have coupons online and in the mail. We went two weeks ago for the first time (finally took them up on a free bottle of wine coupon). It was a Friday, semi busy, service was good, not overly attentive. The waiter explained all specials but we decided on lasagna and chicken Alfredo. The Alfredo had way to much sauce and was a bit tasteless. My husband said his lasagna was great. Both portions were super huge, maybe they could offer the lunch portions at dinner? I took my Alfredo home, only to find the sauce had turned into an oily mess the next day and had to throw it out. Kind of made me mad being as it was $18·95. There are other restaurants in the area that are of better value around, but this place is alright if you're looking for something close.

Won't eat here. Yelp! Map lead me to leave a review for the wrong restaurant. But instead of simply pointing it out and inviting me to his restaurant, the arrogant owner scolded me because his restaurant is the EXACT SAME NAME, in the SAME TOWN and Yelp's map located it for me.

Authentic Italian food expertly prepared. Veal Parmesan and Fettuccine Carbonara were fantastic. The dipping sauce and flat bread were great too.

Ate here for the first time in a while last night, and it reminded me what a great place this is. We had terrific service and delicious food. Generous portions, too. I love the pizza-crust bread and tasty tomato dipping sauce that comes out before the meal. And I HIGHLY recommend the tiramisu. Mmmmm!

The food was very good and they had very large portions. Meals run $14-18 plus the cost of drinks. Dress is very casual. The lasagna was delicious, as were their meatballs. The service was below par though. They forgot to bring out our salad and when we reminded them about it after our dinner came they apologized and offered a free desert to make up for the inconvenience. They then charged for the "free" desert. They also took a long time to bring the check, and didn't refill our drinks. All that being said, I would still go back. The great food more than made up for the service.

After reading the reviews on yelp, we decided to stop here during a trip to Florida. The food was outstanding as was the service. Complimentary bruschetta preceded my chicken francese. Perhaps the best I've ever had. Complimentary lemoncello (homemade) finished the evening. I only wish we lived closer. Try it- I doubt you'll be disappointed

Food quality is great, truly scratch made dishes. No Sysco provided pre-fab garbaggio. Lovely sauces and combos. You will often enter and be thrown a free appetizer when you sit. Slightly cramped when busy, can get loud as well. Wait staff is spotty, its a coin flip if you will get great service or a disappearing act. The table service is the only thing that makes me mark them down. Recco: Antipasto appetizer, Chicken Palace. This is on my regular dining list, top Italian restaurant in Lakeland.

My wife and I stopped in last weekend hoping to find some good non-chain Italian food in our new home town (just moved from New Jersey), and I think we did! The bread they gave us was pretty good, along with the dipping sauce. I enjoyed my salad a lot, although as other reviews have said, having to pay for different dressing than their house italian is a bit strange. Sure it's cheap, but it's still kind of odd. Thank you guys for not slipping any grass clipp - I mean, field greens - into my salad! The baked ziti was delicious. My wife thought her penne vodka was alright - she wasn't a fan of how many mushrooms were in it. We were interested in how their pizza was too, since we are looking for New York-style. We didn't try it that day but did get it takeout a few days later - and it was pretty good! Not perfect, but the best we've found so far! I do wish they were open later (9:30 on a Saturday?), but that's alright. The only other complaint I have is pricing. I've seen some reviews say that Carraba's is more expensive - I haven't been there in awhile, but if that's the case I might have to bring my mortgage as collateral, considering Palace Italian's prices. $15 for the meals weren't too bad, but definitely on the high-end of what I'd pay for. And it included the salad and bread. We wanted to order an appetizer, but their Tomato and Mozzarella Caprese was $9! Pretty high, especially since only my wife wanted it (we did get it when we ordered the pizza takeout and she loved it). Of course, along with those prices comes the huge portions everyone else talks about. So that does even it out a bit, although I would honestly take half the food for half the price - especially since I could order appetizers and eat them at that point! We will be going back, although with the coupons that come in the mail!

I've eaten lots of good Italian resturants before and this place was NOT one of them. I had a previously prepared salad on a plate which had a fairly good Italian creamy dressing...it could have been a bit lighter and been just as good. Fairly average bread is served reheated a by a bored blond teenage girl at the front of the store....manager had his head stuck in the computer. It's an open kitchen so the first thing we're doing as customers is eating or preparing to eat with our eyes. Our waiters were good and attentive...BUT my fettuccini carbonara which is supposed to be a pretty simple light dish was like eating scrambled eggs and bacon with noodles dumped in...bland cheese made all of the flavors that were supposed to be in there seemingly vanish into a blasé mound of pasta and whatever else they supposedly added in. Not going back, told my parents to find another Italian place in Lakeland...this one appears to be run by bored high school kids who've never tasted Italian food clearly.

To say they have large portions is an understatement. I had spaghetti and sausage and it was enough to feed at least three people. My friend had chicken cacciatore and raved about the flavor. Great family owned restaurant. They also have daily specials that sound yummy.

Good food, solid Italian fare. Wasn't particularly busy but wait staff still seemed a little disorganized. The vodka sauce was very, very, very good, the ravioli was ok. Initially brought the wrong entree, but it was quickly and graciously replaced. Overall a positive, but based on the other reviews, maybe I hit it on an off night.

This place is a gem. Homemade sauces from scratch. Every super fresh. Reasonably priced. Great portions. Terrific staff. The meatballs were excellent. No hot antipast. The eggplant Parma leftovers were even better the next day. Introduce yourself to the owner, Patricia since she will be seeing slot more of you. Worth the drive from wherever you are

This new contemporary "upscale" or casual restaurant makes you feel GRRRREAT when you're there! Run by "real" Italians, some of the fun is listening to the language tossed about the kitchen area! Lovely appetizers (I had bruschetta bites). Great specials. Not a bad item on the menu. I like the standards--spaghetti, lasagna, manicotti, but the eggplant rollatini was also good. Somehow the ambience makes everything delish! We recently went with a party of 15 for lunch and they were still quick and accurate. The 3 salads (Greek, Chef, Mediterranean) were huge and fresh. They have a well-balanced balsamic vinaigrette that's yum. A meat stromboli and a veggie stromboli were huge and tasty. One person ordered a "personal pan pizza" and got this giant 15 inch round for several meals to come. The specials involved seafood and pasta and got rave reviews. I ordered a cup of the pasta fagioli ($4) for a sick friend, to go). It was a huge order and came with several slices of their great soft flat bread and a side of parmesan. Really can't beat them! 1/2015. The place had a party of 20 and two parties of 8 but I still was treated like I was the only diner in the place. Still can get a $6 glass of wine. They have a great red table wine. Basket of focaccia and seasoned oil arrives while you wait. Ice cold house salad with a great house creamy Italian dressing. Huge portion, half to go home. Great waiter (David), too. Place has a class ambiance PLUS you get in and out when YOU want to. The manager walks the floor, holds the door, is quite welcoming. Love this place! (The other Palace joints are mainly pizza--this place is quite the plated food fine Italian dining spot.) Worthy of your palate.

Mediocre food. Stock italian fare. Disappointed, had many people tell me it was the best italian food in Lakeland, and Polk County. Turned out to be a standard italian restaurant. Ordered lobster ravioli and a few appetizers. Had a full party at dinner on a Sunday. Everything was well cooked and served in a resonable time. It was just boring. If you are looking for any classic italian fare then this place will do fine I assume. But don't go looking for a kitchen that is going looking to try something new as I'm sure you've had everything on their menu better already.

GREAT FOOD, BIG SERVINGS, it is fresh and home made. however the service and side salad leave would only get 2 starts but dishes are 5 starts.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
