I vacationed in Florida for a week. This was the only place that the food really s*cked as well as the service. The place was empty early in the morning and service was still super slow. food left a lot to be desired. What can you expect for $3.99 buffet. Really not worth it... buy a box of cereal.

I was looking forward to the Ponderosa I few up around... Full hot bar of good food and an endless cold salad bar. Here, it's sparse and all processed, salt loaded food. The salad bar had four choices of salads but three were empty. Selections of toppings was pretty good. The hot bar had mashed potatoes, red potatoes with tons of melted butter, macaroni and cheese, taco fixings, corn, carrots, etc. They had tuna salad, seafood salad and pea salad - all of which which were white from all of the mayo. The dessert selection was plentiful but nothing looked of good quality. I ordered the petite steak which was very dry and not hot. The baked potato was the only thing I knew that was real here and if was good with butter. They also serve you breadsticks which seemed like unopened hot dog buns slathered with butter - dry and tasteless. The service, as mentioned in other posts, is great. My waitress kept asking me if everything tasted good. I'd say something but you get what you pay for and I'll know to not return. I miss the old Ponderosa of the 90s.

I stayed in Kissimmee for my Disney trip. This was close to my hotel. I used to have a ponderosa where I grew up, and hadn't been there in years. It has changed a lot. I had gotten a steak with sautéed onions and mushrooms and a baked potato. My boyfriend got ribs. My steak had good flavor and was cooked how I like it. The salad bar had a lot of stuff. My waiter was very polite and efficient. I had a good experience here. The good thing is you pay for your meal and the salad bar is free all you can eat. I can't rate this a 5 star because the restaurant was dirty and so was the bathroom

This buffet is a little weird. It's a steakhouse and a buffet. You order an entree (steak) and you get the buffet included in the price of your entree. You don't have to order the entree since they serve plenty of choices in their buffet. I ordered their special, a 10 oz Sirloin Steak and Shrimp Scampi for $10.99. This came with the free buffet too! If you were to get the buffet by itself, then it's $9.99. So basically for a dollar more I was able to get steak and shrimp. Score! Don't let the 3-stars fool you. You get what you pay for. I gave them an extra star for having attentive wait staff and the largest soda cup I have ever seen! So if you're hungry and looking for a very inexpensive, no frills kinda place. Come here.

Pretty horrible all around. My steak tasted like it was frozen five minutes before I ordered it, with the nice rubbery chew only possible from a microwave. Would not have stopped in, but we were short on time. Would go hungry before coming again

Good for price, you get what you pay for, in this case you get more than expected

Having never been to Ponderosa before, I had no idea that the buffet was an actual buffet and not a salad bar. I ordered the rib eye. The only thing I got from the buffet was some salad and vegetables. The vegetables were soaking in a buttery liquid so the healthy factor was probably pretty low. Like the previous reviewer said, you get what you pay for. Not a high quality steak, but passable. Our waiter was attentive which wasn't easy since we had a very large group. We were a little grossed out by the kid who was sticking his finger in some of the dessert toppings - we all passed on that. You could easily just get the buffet and have plenty to eat and save a couple of dollars.

Just Don't Go Here!!! Reading the reviews just about told of our experience. Do yourself a favor and try one of the other choices. We could have eaten better, been treated better, and spent less money at Olive Garden, Golden Corral, Applebees, and many more good places. Corporate in Plano, Tx did not even bother to reply to my complaint notification - what a surprise!

The service was excellent but the food was not great! The restaurant was right across the street from my hotel, and when I asked the concierge for a recommendation on a place in walking distance, he recommended...THE GOLDEN CORRAL! Lol. Just saying! Boy, I miss Atlanta.

My family and I grew up around Ponderosas. We were sad when they started closing down everywhere. Fortunately, we found a Ponderosa in Orlando when we stayed at a nearby resort. Whenever we make our way down here, we have to stop by Ponderosas. The food wasn't as good as I had remembered it to be but my fish was pretty good. Rico our server was SUPER nice and accomodating. There were about 12 of us there and he came by periodically to make sure we were doing okay with our food and bevarages. One of the members in our party had ordered a medium rare steak and it came out well done. Rico did not hesitate at all to bring it back and have it remade. Shortly, the manager came out with Rico with the new steak and apologized for the inconvenience and stood there to wait for the guy in our party to cut open his steak to make sure it was cooked to his satisfaction. I was a bit surprised by the service and would definitely come back just for the service. The cooks in the kitchen need to keep better eye on their steaks. Considering that many platters on their menu have steak, you'd think they'd be experts at cooking it by now.... 4 stars for the excellent service....wish the food was prepared with more care

Worst food ever!! Buffet area food was old and nasty! I ordered the sirloin and garlic shrimp... Steak was rubbery and shrimp was cold and soggy! The waiter and management were full of excuses and nothing close to cuter service! Avoid this place at ALL cost!!

Salad bar was a little disappointing. Leaf lettuce was brown in lots of spots. I ordered the regular steak, it was ok but would not order again. It looked as tho it had been sitting out on the counter for awhile before it was cooked. My husband got the steak and shrimp. The shrimp you could tell were from a box of frozen shrimp. Kids got chicken nuggets and didn't eat them. And my kids love chicken nuggets. It was clean for the most part but we won't be back anytime soon. Sorry. I was really looking forward to it as I hadn't had Ponderosa since I lived in Michigan years ago. Such a disappointment.

All the food tasted like it came from a microwave the bread on the table was old there's steak had no taste whatsoever the sweet potato was burnt. The temperature on the salad bar couldn't have been right it seem like it was all too warm

This sort of steakhouse seems to have died out in many parts of the country, but not Orlando. I wonder what happened to all those old Ponderosas and Ryan's - I guess they followed the crowds and moved to Florida as they got older! Much like the changing tastes, they figure that making a single entree and serving the sides buffet-style didn't make much sense. Might as well serve the whole meal on the buffet, like Golden Corral or someone. But apparently there is still a market for the Ponderosa-style place, because this place is hopping (at least it was when we were there). Then again, I think most anything would be busy in such close proximity to the theme parks. As to quality of the food? Not so great. It is perhaps only marginally better than what you can get in the parks themselves, and that has actually improved over time (Butterbeer? Who would have thought such things could exist in the real world!).

My wife and I both have fond memories of eating at Ponderosa as children; an endless buffet of rich, cheesy foods, and the dessert bar! Those memories were shattered by our dinner here. Nasty, cheap, gristly meat, a buffet that was, for want of a better way to put it, weak, and a bland dessert bar. I know better than to expect prime beef for the price that they're charging here, but these cuts weren't even select -- standard, probably (3 grades below prime). Basically no marbling, just dull, brown-grey, listless meat. They did get my medium-rare done right, which is worth at least a star, so that saves the Ponderosa from a one-star review. I won't bother to go back, choosing to, instead, hope that this is an aberration, and that the Ponderosa I remember in my youth still exists out there somewhere.

We chose to come here our last morning in town, and I'm glad we did. We came at 11:30 and were able to include brunch with our meal which was nice. They had plenty to offer, including refried beans, nachos and cheese. There were pancakes, French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and the salad bar. Not a bad deal for what everything includes. Our waitress Doris was nice and attentive and upon entering, we were greeted by Danny, who explained how everything worked. We enjoyed this experience, and will be back in a few months, when we come down this way again!

I had the Angus ground beef for $10.99 I've been eating the same selection for 30 yrs at many locations in many states. This one with a higher fat content and finer ground was the best in recollection! Fries weren't directly from the fryer. Salad bar was well stocked with a plentiful selection of items. Service was excellent, Roy was anticipating every want. Thanks

It's a good place for breakfast. Warm comfort food like pancakes, eggs, biscuits, hash browns, toast, bacon, sausages, and much more. To top it off you can order a steak with your meal.

Breakfast Buffett is $6.99 for a reason. The selection on the breakfast buffet was really lacking. And the food they did have was not very good. My wife had fond memories of the Ponderosa but I see now why they are hard to find locations. I would have rather paid $10 for better quality. It's was a clean location but food just was not good.

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly I say!!!! First the bad!!! I had the sirloin steak with the buffet and it was cold, I mean really cold and not even warm. I had a bite and had to spit it out as it was too chewy. I called the waiter and he took care of it. He brought me a big broiled chicken breast which was surprisingly good for a steak place. They also gave me a second baked potato. I had the dinner buffet. I must be honest. It was very very good!!! Soup was excellent and macaroni and cheese was like Mom made!! Good variety of pasta and salad at the buffet. The good was that they took care of the problem. Dessert was great as well. I guess there is no ugly in this review LOL!!!!

This used to be one of our favorite places to go every 6 months to switch it up a bit. Unfortunately, today will be the last time that we will be going to this location. This location no longer serves chicken wings on their buffet (my favorite item). As a matter of fact, they have removed ALL meat items from the buffet (including taco meat and meatballs). I understand that you need to cut some corners to make a profit, but let's be real here... nobody really goes to Ponderosa for a $10 steak meal. 9 out of 10 times, its for the buffet. I don't know if its only this location, or all locations. Maybe one day they will change back to the previous way they did business.

I have to say this is easily the most revolting place I've ever had this displeasure of eating at. I used to love Ponderosa growing up, and was sad when they all closed. But after this experience I would be happy to never see one again. The kids pizzas were hard and chewy, the chopped steak was cool, the fries I was charged for while thinking they were included sides were cold and left uneaten. The buffet was not attended well. Food was dripped into other food, utensils were covered in food, the floor was littered with food and other garbage, the bathrooms were without toilet paper except for the floor which was filled with it, and they were filthy. The only good thing about this place was our attentive server.

There's a good reason the breakfast buffet is only $3.99... Yuk! There's absolutely no room to move. Wait in line forever to get a plate of food. Kids with dirty, germ-ridden hands touching everything. Parents who don't care their kids are touching everything. Messy buffet. What you want on the buffet by the time it's your turn is probably gone and they don't replace items quickly enough. Good luck finding a clean table. Good luck finding a server. The eggs can't possibly be real eggs. Horrible! I could go on and on. Tourists wanting to save a few bucks... have fun with this one! Although I highly advise you go elsewhere.

I HIGHLY recommend that if you like small food for a expensive price then this is your spot , as a family of 4 we all left unhappy this food is disgusting literally all the food has no taste and it's a ripoff the food is so small that it looks like your a giant eating miniature food, I ordered the petite steak I took one bite and blood was dripping off my fork even when I said well done smh everyone was disappointed this place is a no go never will I ever eat here again an I highly recommend that if you like shitty food then this is your spot. Poor service also

I'm giving this a 4 star review based soley on the breakfast buffet. It's $3.99 for just the buffet or $5.99 for buffet and a waffle/french toast/omlette. After seeing the buffet and getting a plate or two of scrambled eggs, potato wedges, fruit and pancakes, you wouldn't even have room for the extra item, so the $3.99 buffet is the way to go! It was delicious but again we just went there for breakfast buffet so I am not sure how any other food is. As far as a buffet goes for vegetarians, they had plenty of breakfast options for me.

  • We popped into the Ponderosa Steak house one morning to try the breakfast buffet as it was just down the end of the road from the villa we were staying in. This Ponderosa is towards the 'quiet' end of Highway 192 past Disney World. On arrival we were told we were going to have to wait even though there did appear to be seats available. After about 10 minutes we were seated on one of the empty tables and the breakfast buffet pointed out. To be fair there is a reasonably large selection of foods, and they seemed to be replenishing these quickly: bacon, sausages, eggs (scrammbled), hash browns, home fries, pancakes, muffins, fruit etc. We had one plate of cooked breakfast and then decided to try some more pancakes. The food was just ok, wouldn't win any awards but was filling (and fattening!) and the price wasn't bad. It did set us up for the day and we didn't need to eat again until the evening. Not sure whether we'd go back again.
