I had a lunch salad here and came back the next night for the bone-in ribeye. The steak unfortunately had a large streak of fat that didn't render well when cooked, so I had to cut away a good quarter of the steak to get at the good stuff. Excellent scotch and whiskey menu. I had the Lagavulin 16 with my meal. Associates at our table had some fruity martinis and whiskey neats that they were all very happy with. Wait staff is very professional, they're used to dealing with alpha personalities that come with visiting sales reps and managers with all of the trade shows they see in the hotel. Any review with a negative attitude towards service I'd wager would probably be more of an anomaly, because I have some really temperamental people I travel (who insist on nothing less than excellent service) with and they all had a fantastic time. Make your reservations early, even earlier if you're going to take a large party... Any trade show that comes through the hotel will absolutely be eating here, so if you're not staying at the hotel, you might do better to look at other options in the area.

BEST STEAK I'VE EVER HAD. For those that know me, know I am a steak LOVER. 4.5 stars. Service was phenomenal. We had 2 different people at our table. The more than attentive waitress and the extremely friendly gentleman who brought our food. Both were extremely personable and offered suggestions. I had the Cowboy Ribeye. Bone-in. It's hard finding a bone in ribeye lately. It was lightly seasoned and cooked to perfection. My husband had the T-bone (porterhouse) and both were monsters. They were $45 each and worth every penny. Drinks: The Bulleit Rye Martini and the Bellini. $14 each but beautifully crafted. Salad with white vinegar dressing? PHENOMENAL. The one guy who delivered the food told me how it was made. I will try making the dressing at home. It was THAT good. Side dish: Roasted brussel sprouts with bacon. HOLY COW. It was more like fat chunks of bite sized bacon w/ roasted split in half brussel sprouts. Divine. I will NEVER ever go anywhere else for a steak again. Dinner for 2 will run you around $125 but it's more than worth it. Treat yourself!

Outstanding! Food was great! Service was great! Expensive, but worth it! As recommended, u had the bone in ribeye with creamed corn as my side. The steak was a all tine top 10, and the creamed corn was a unique sweet, then pepper recipe that that was awesome! May go back before I leave the Gaylord!

This was easily the best steak I've ever had. I had the 16 ounce prime dry aged delmonico and my wife had the 8 ounce filet. Truffle fries as a side and Grand Marnier soufflé for dessert. Will definitely be back.

  • Chelsea M.

The Good: o AMAZING soufflés, especially the grand marnier one o Accommodating with requests to change sides and stuff o Pretty good bread basket (the crackers) o Steak looked cooked perfectly The Bad: o Asparagus a bit undercooked o Brussels slightly undercooked o Forgot the sauce on my fish (probably because I changed the accompaniments so the original sauce did not really go with my new choices, but I should have been asked what sauce I want instead) Good option while staying at Gaylord, but I probably would not go out of my way to eat here.

Wow....expensive or what...and it wasn't all that good to boot. I ordered the 8oz Filet, mushrooms, and asparagus. Along with 3 Martini's and tip, I think I spent a whopping $123.00. There was nothing special about the presentation at all. The steak was all alone on the plate and the sides both came in their own dishes. It looked horrible. I had the Bolognese sauce, which came in a little bowl and that wasn't very good. The Filet was just ok, I've certainly have had much better. I don't mind paying outrageous prices for dinner, but it needs to be worth it and sadly, this was not. On a positive note, the mushrooms tasted pretty good. All in all, I was not thrilled at all with the food offerings inside the Gaylord Palms.

Here's the key to this restaurant, and listen closely: Don't come for the steaks. Come for the cheese cart. I'm so serious here, I don't even consider this a steak place in my mind, and to me, it is always known as that 'one really good cheese place.' If you love cheese, the cheese cart here is so amazing. You get to pick from about 12-14 cheeses out of the cart (you get 3 or 6 picks depending on the size you choose) and it comes with almonds, dates, honey, and bread. The cheeses rotate in and out - so you'll usually get a new pick. They seem to always have Midnight Moon (a delicious goat cheese I always love). You will have a variety of cheeses to pick from and they explain each one really well. I suggest going with a good variety - a few soft, a few hard, and definitely a blue to go with the honey. Their sides are also pretty good - I'm a fan of coming for cheese and side dishes. The french onion soup is OK - it's good, but not great. The cheese isn't great, and the broth is a little too sweet for me. It also has 3 slices of baguette in it that get really soggy and soak up too much broth. It could use 1/3rd of the bread it has in it. We tried a new dish, the pan seared gnudi, which are delicious little ricotta dumpling-like deals (similar to gnocchi). I've tried their steaks, and they are nothing special - definitely over priced as well. I strongly suggest coming for their other dishes!

Service is 5 stars. Food could be much better. First ordered the chicken it was dry sent it back then ordered the Filet and came out cold. Food was not fresh and when paying a premium for dinner I expect it to be better. A few days later the team thought this would be a great place to eat and I tagged along. Once again the food was not worth the price. We had the seafood appetizer, Lobster or prawns were not fresh at all. very disappointing. I ordered the porterhouse steak and could have cooked it better myself.

My dining experience was less than appetizing. I was hesitant to even order after looking at the prices but I thought I would give it a shot since I don't mind paying good money for good food. I can cook a better steak and make better creamed spinach then they can. My Manhatten steak was tough and tasteless at $53 a steak I expected way better. My daughter's strip was also tough and boring. The steaks came on a white plate with no presentation. $11 for truffle fries, really? The bread they served before the meal tasted preserved, was hard, and tasted like something that came in a bag that had been sitting on the shelf for some time. My daughter had iced tea and I had 2 glasses of Malbec. I about cried and fell out of my seat when I got my bill for $155. After the tip, which I way overtipped, the bill was $188. As for the atmosphere, I was sat in the back with a view of the tops of the trees. Not a very nice view. Service was good though. I am a Marriott Rewards holder and frequent and look forward to a Marriott experience. Not this time. I WILL NEVER WASTE MY MONEY ON A MEAL HERE AGAIN! I am so disappointed I want to cry.

They tried but just fell short. This along with a few other restaurants are located within the Marriott Gaylord Palms hotel. Each has a limited menu and is way over priced. You are paying for the fancy decor of the hotel and restaurants, not the food. The sides are $11 a piece and are labeled as "family" style. They are delivered in mini cast iron skillets which a couple could split but certainly not a family of 4. I had the Mac & Cheese and the Brussel sprouts with bacon. The Mac & Cheese was on the dry side and lacked full flavor. The bread crumbs on top were a nice touch. Overall editable but disappointing especially for $11. The sprouts/bacon were also lacking a bit in the full flavor range despite they are also cooked in a cast iron skillet with a vinaigrette sauce. The sauce was so runny is was more of the soup the rest sat in rather than an addition to the flavor and texture. The steaks range in the $40-$50 area which I did not order one but other reviewers have stated the steak quality are not worth the price. I ordered the wedge salad which was around $15 I believe. You get a (small) 1/4 head of iceberg lettuce with a few bacon bits and few diced tomatoes covered with about a tablespoon of blue cheese dressing. I could buy a full portions of each ingredient at the store for that price. The wine list was extensive including an entire page of "vertical wines" which range into the hundreds of dollars. Of course the wines are not as expensive as they price them as. For example, a bottle of La Crema Chardonnay was $79 dollars. I can buy a bottle at my local grocery store for under $20. I got a glass of another Chardonnay which was $13 for 5 oz. A small pour considering most restaurants will serve a 6-7 oz pour for between $7-$12. The servers were nice but seemed more adept for Chili's or Dick's Last Resort - a guy seriously asked a lady if she was pregnant when she declined to order an adult beverage. And this is supposed to be a high end steakhouse where the staff are wearing suits - keep in mind it is still in a tourist trap hotel so everything is part of a role. The ambiance is 5 stars and the cheese tray is the most awesome looking collaboration I've seen in a restaurant (too bad I didn't go that route). The servers are nice but not fancy restaurant quality and the food is ok but nothing spectacular and certainly not worth the price tag. From what I gathered all the restaurants in this hotel run at this standard. If you are going to be staying at the Gaylord Palms I would highly suggest making dinning plans outside of the hotel.

Some of the best service I've had at a restaurant. However, the price is far far higher than the quality of the overall experience here. I dined with my brother. We started with Beef tartar at $19 (which was pretty good) then we each ordered a steak at $65 each. The steaks were mediocre. I've had far better for far less. We also had "truffle Parmesan fries" for $11 which were just regular fries with very very small bits of truffles. After sharing a dessert, our total was $215 and then we tipped $50 I am not afraid to spend money on a great meal but I expect more.

Not wanting to leave the resort for dinner my party and I decided to give the Old-Hickory a shot. The steak that I ordered medium rare was much closer to medium and the food's presentation was way off for the price. The crème brûlée was decent but not amazing. Our waitress was very nice, but stretched thin covering more tables than she should have been (not her fault). Next time I'm in town I will find a different place to eat, even if I have to leave the resort.

Good steakhouse. Went out with customers and it was nice because other people couldn't hear your conversation. As with everything at the Gaylord it is over priced and expensive. Wait staff did a great job. We got the seafood tower wish the lobster came with butter. Will go back here again.

Table of 6 on a fully booked night (there was a conference at the hotel). Service was very good. Started wit the seafood tower that is for four people and they customized for size. Fried oysters, shrimp, crab cake; it was good for sharing. We also had three cheeses which our server did a great job in recommending. The prima donna cheese was excellent. Various salads for starters; the wedge salad is large. For the meats, the filets were excellent and cooked perfectly with a nice chunk of blue cheese on top. The scallops were also a generous portion. Everyone was happy with their meals. The selected a few sides for the table - lobster mac and cheese (delicious), mashed potatoes, and asparagus (really not enough for 6 but would be OK for 4). Desserts were shared - a tart, a banana something, and a chocolate bomb something. Just enough for a bite of each. The wine list was OK. Some decent selections for a decent price and then it goes up (way up) from there. Overall, I was happy with the meal considering I was taking clients out and they also enjoyed themselves. And the overall cost of the meal was not shocking. For a table of 6, they included 18% gratuity. Dress code: Business casual is fine, resort casual may be fine, but no jeans, shorts or flip flops.

This year was a very hard year. I lost the love of my life and I'm turning 50 on the 27th. Today I had the best evening out , dinner , beautiful surroundings and a wonderful waiter Ron. My steak was to die for!!! Thanks to a wonderful Christmas dinner.

This review is for the bar only since we just went there for a cocktail. Do yourself a favor & order an Old Fashioned (bartender selected the bourbon)...it's the best one I've ever had!

  • Sara Z.

Service was top notch and what you expect from a good steakhouse. Steak was really good and perfectly cooked to my specifications, sides were great, especially the corn. The server overheard there was a birthday at the table and brought out a lovely dessert dish with a candle. I have been to my fair share of good steakhouses, on that note, the prices here were a bit steep. This is coming from a girl who lives in the NYC area. But, I am not going to ping them for it.

We were a table of 4- 800.00 was the tab and by far the worst tasting steaks we have EVER had- had the delmonico, Manhattan and cowboy steaks and not one person enjoyed the for the money- lack of flavor around the table. Ordered bernaise as sauce and needless to say there was too much vinegar and not any tarragon in sauce. We did enjoy the array of cheeses accompanied with delicious wine but the side items were not worth the 11.00 price that is supposedly family style. Tasted like they were premade and heated up once served. Desserts of creme brûlée were very bland and cheesecake tasted as it were made from box. We expected way more for the money and would not come back for a return visit.

Had two meals here one on 9/22 and the other on 9/24 while on a business trip. Both were OK, I have to agree with some of the other reviews that Peter Luger, Del Frisco's have probably ruined me for all steak houses. But, I have been to other hickory steak houses in other Gayloard properties and this one was probably the worst of the ones I have been to. Sunday the food was good but the waiter rushed me through my meal, contradicted me while I tried to order my appetizers and started taking our order while we were still debating. The food was OK, the souffle dessert was forgettable. Tuesday nights dinner was better, but there was a large convention going on we ate in the bar section while table space was limited, but acceptable. I had the surf and turf that night, it much better than the bone in cowboy steak I had on Sunday. Skip; The tomato Onion salad, Fried Oysters and Cowboy steak, souffle (both of them) Get: Pork Chop, Surf and Turf, Shrimp Cocktail, English Mashed Potatoes and the Asparagus. You are going to pay for a 5 star meal that is more like 3.

Welp...its a chain restaurant, inside of a tourist trap hotel, in the biggest tourist trap city in the country (maybe even the world?). Soo what do you expect? No, it was not the best steak or meal I've ever had but it wasn't the worst either. I give it three stars because it's not their fault that I hate chain restaurants and tourist traps...lots of people like that sort of thing! The food was fine, the ambiance was cool since the hotel is pretty cool, and the service was good and friendly. So if you're staying in the hotel and feel like splurging then this is a good choice within the hotel.

OHS is one of the those restaurants where the cliental is built in, being nestled in the middle of one of the largest hotels in orlando. So the don't try very hard to please and the food is over priced ann not great!

Great appetizers. Table of seven. Four had the steak and lobster. Other three had filets. Lobster was good, although a bit over cooked. Four of filets were over cooked. Dry and tasteless. The other three were good. The sides of macaroni and cheese, mushrooms, potatoes and spinach were good. The lobster bisque was too thick and only had one tiny piece of lobster per bowl. A great disappointment. My fellow diner told the server that her steak was over cooked and he told her it wasn't! None of he rest of us bothered to wast eour time complaining about our steak since the waiter argued with her! The next evening I came down with a case of food poisoning that lasted three days.

My wife and I had a reservation at 8 pm. Ordered pork chops and rib eye . One of the worst services ever. The water smelled like it was out of the toilet, the drink refill took forever and worst of all , we waited over an hour for our main course and never arrive . The excuse we got was, the pork chops we ordered are thick so it takes longer to cook. REALLY ? AN HOUR ? ... So our dinner plans were ruined for the night and we ran out of patience and left. I got a call from one of the managers on staff for the night and all he could say is that he is sorry and they had a busy night and that's why it was taking so long. Guess what , you need to get your story straight. I have been to many restaurants and never walked out on our dinner reservation , you would think for the prices they charge they would have a better class service. I would rather order room service than go back to that restaurant again.

Overall, solid steak house, overpriced, but the convenience of being ion the Gaylord Palms hotel. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to go there over other steak houses. Service was very good, kudos especially to the bartender Ben, who was engaging, entertaining, and provided good recommendations for later eating. Even stayed a little extra one night to let us have a nightcap before he closed (of course he gets a thumbs up for that kind of service!). Also had very good servers, as well as great wine recommendations from the sommelier Juan. Dinner was OK. First night NY Strip was poor piece of meat (stringy and tough) and not cooked properly (Black and Blue came out blue but not black). Second night had the Rib-eye and it was much better and cooked perfectly. Regular mac-and-cheese was very good, as well as the fired oysters. Highlight of the night was the cheese cart, definitely would go back for just wine and the cheese cart.

Have been waiting two years to come. Forgot two starters, surf and turf was cold had to be re-heated not replaced, asked for med steak it came well, asked med rare lamb and it was so blue I was about to shave the wool off of it and make a sweater. Carol was trying but was very short and rude. creme brûlée was pre-prepared...this is the first bad review I have ever made. The atmosphere and other staff were friendly and attentive. Great restaurant, bad night.

Nice atmosphere, good service and really good meat. The service at Old Hickory was quick, courteous and prompt for the most part, they did touch on my pet peeve of clearing other peoples dishes while some people are still eating. The food was very good, mac and cheese worth coming back for and steaks well seasoned and cooked to your taste (which seems obvious but there are many times I asked for medium rare and got medium). The drinks were tasty but after three I did not feel anything and usually after one drink I am feeling it, so it is safe to say the elbows do not serve there drinks with a high elbow. All and all I would def. come back and indulge my taste buds.

This is a very good 3.5 star steakhouse Excellent filet at the Old Hickory steakhouse. he sides were good, especially the "Artisinal Mac n Cheese". For a hotel restaurant, (located in the Gaylord Palms) this place did a nice job of handling a table of 8. The cheese selection was very good and we really enjoyed an unusual espresso flavored cheese. The desserts included 2 types of souflees: a cinnamon and a chocolate version. This was too heavy for me and I gave mine away. The only disappointment was having a Woodward Canyon Cab on the wine list w/o any bottles in stock. Apparently, there were several wines which were "sold out" which seems unusual for a large restaurant in a convention-type hotel. The service made up for this!

  • Thomas B.

Good all across the board. Great service, good wine list, bread was great w goat cheese spread, tasty piping hot mashed potatoes, crisp salads on frosty plates, an 8oz filet perfectly tender and flavorful from edge to edge. You will spend some $$ here but you will not be disappointed. Money well-spent.

Not bad for a hotel restaurant while on the pricier end. I can't complain about my steak, I thought that it was cooked great, although I though that the plastic ramekin was a little cheesy for the bearnaise. Service was alright. Sides were great.

So first off this is not a place you go for a quick steak on a Saturday night. It doesn't look too fancy but the atmosphere and the service is very elegant. My wife was a little chilly so they asked her if she would like a shawl. Then brought her a stool for her purse. The wine selection was just so so but they had enough to choose from. I passed because the wife doesn't drink and the best wines were only by the bottle. The food: absolutely incredible. Sides were large enough to share and the steaks cooked perfectly....and ther was plenty of it. The cheese platter appetizer was a nice touch. Lots to choose from and the cut and prepare it for you. Most I've never heard of but our waiter did a great job describing taste and texture. When our entrees arrived, the waiter asked us if we wanted to order dessert. Huh? He said the souffles would take about thirty minutes and served out of the oven. I ordered the Tupelo honey and the wife had chocolate....all I can say is Heaven On Earth! The place is pricey. Very. I had no buyers remorse though. Great service and excellent meal. The place is not much to look at and if you didn't know any better you may accidentally walk in in flip flops and shorts. I highly recommend this place for a grown ups night out or special occasion. Again, pricey but I've spent just as much for less amount and quality at the theme parks.

I think Peter Lugers has ruined me for most other steakhouses. After my flight home to DC was cancelled I checked into one of my favorite hotels, the Gaylord Palms. The Old HIckory is one of the restaurants I have not visited recently. I love the Italian buffet here! Old HIckory is a very lively fun place to eat. I had the Kansas City Strip cooked with cajun spices, as this is their signature dish. I have to say I was disappointed. It was not a bad cut? It just does not live up to the top steakhouses, including the chains like Mortons and Ruth Chris. Indeed the top steakhouses in the world are identifiable by one name: Lugers, Gibsons, and Berns. To me Peter Lugers is in a class by itself, with Gibsons on Chicago's Rush Street a close second. Anyway, for the price I cannot recommend this place--Old HIckory.

  • Sabrina L.

This is more of a 3.5 than a 3, but I'm not willing to round up. The service here was great and our server was attentive and quick with anything we needed. My steak was a perfect medium well, but you can't order a side for just one person. You have to order them family style and that meant it was way too much for just one person. I offered to share but no one at the table was interested in mac and cheese! I would say that it is overly expensive for what you get, but only slightly so. If you're stuck in this hotel and want to spring for something nice, this is your best option. But if you're not in the hotel, find yourself a different steakhouse.

The food was good, but don't fool yourself thinking this steakhouse is on the same level as Charley's, Capital Grille, or Flemmings.

Had our Valentine's Day dinner here. Pros: the ambiance and decor is amazing. They have a whole jungle, bridges, rope thing going and it was actually pretty neat. Our waiter was very friendly and accommodating. Cons: Food was just ok. I had the cowboy ribeye which was very tender and juicy...didn't care much for the sauce though. But it wasn't as good as I've had at Ruth's Chris. For dessert I had Creme Brulee, good, but again, nothing to rave about. All in all a decent experience, but the food was just not there for me.

    (3)
  • Renato S.

The beef tederloin was too dry for me. Tender but very dry, definetly not worth the 44 dollars I paid for it. The cowboy ribeye that my gf ordered tasted much better, and worth the average price for that type of steak around 35 dollars. As for the dessert, the chocolate souffle (sp.) just wasn't worth it. All and all, I can't justify paying that much money for a so so dinner and dessert. The ambience is great here though. I love the indoor but outdoor feel to the patio. I think the resort is amazing all and all and it saved the dinner for me. I had a really hard time drinking out of the water glass btw.

Read the reviews and thought we would give this place a try. Service was excellent and my overall experience was decent. Started off with Carpaccio...it was very good. Wasn't a normal carpaccio, which was good. No Balsamic...which was a good change. My partner had a wedge salad, which was excellent. Decided to try some of their cheeses as well, cheeses were excellent. Pretty expensive for 3 cheeses, but still good. We bother ordered the ribeye "Cowboy", and it was average. I had mine topped with the Caveman Blue Cheese, which was really good, but again very expensive. The steaks were actually priced reasonably. We also had the Mac and Cheese, which was terrible. The chocolate souffle was very good. Overall some things were expensive and not worth it. I would go back, but not sure if I would have the steak.

Ate here while entertaining a client during a convention. The steak I had was outstanding. Service was good. Happy with the wine choices.

    (4)
  • Byron M.

Definitely not worth the money. Was really disappointed that a high priced steak house would serve such a poor meal. Steak was a little over-done and frankly much tougher that it should be. Didn't be fooled by the "black angus" label... At these prices the meat should be USDA prime...it's not. Others at our table had similar opinions. Also the sides (a la carte) were average. The only redeeming qualities were the service, romaine wedge salad and chocolate soufflé. Staying at the Gaylord locks you into eating at their restaurants so I would consider biting the bullet and going out if you can... Especially for a good steak.

  • Sid V.

We ate here as a "captive audience" last week while staying at the hotel for a conference. This restaurant, like the other restaurants in the resort, is expensive - eye opening expensive. Our tab, for 7 people was just about $800 - The New York Strip was good, but not great - and at $42, about a third more than it should be. Sides are anywhere from $9 - $15 - again, about a third over-priced. We had the mac-and-cheese with lobster - about 1.5 servings, and really not memorable. Garlic mashed potatoes were on par with something out of a box - just didn't work for me. Wine list was good, but at $15 per glass, proceed with caution. If you're on an expense account, with no rental car, then go ahead and dine here, better yet, phone out for pizza, and save your per diem for a pay-per-view movie.

As a guy who is trying to save my money for important things, I find it hard to substantiate an expensive steakhouse outing like Old Hickory for any other reason but for my girlfriend. I've visited the Orlando version (the Gaylord Palms) a couple times, and one in DC. (Gaylord National) for very special occasions and it has been a great experience. I'll stick to rating the Palms of course. Now the bar is high... Very high. Anytime you drop at least $150-200 minimum for two people, you expect service that reflects that and the food to match. My first impressions were that the place has an interesting outdoor feel (deep inside the large dome that is Gaylord Palms) that starts with the entire place looking like it's on stilts over a quaint swamp, and goes down to your decorative plate setting covered with a small mosquito tent. I found that to be borderline hokey, but part of the theme enough that I went with it. The feel of a tree fort comes to mind, yet with nicer furnishings. (And girls are allowed here.) The menu is geared mostly to the tastes of steak lovers of course, but *don't underestimate the power of the sides* (in my best Vader voice) . The menu is somewhat small otherwise, possibly giving the more experienced diners a feeling of a Table d'hôte style, or prix fixe. There are also a few alternate proteins by way of chicken, lamb and fish that may or may not be good, so I'll leave that up to someone else to discover since I go to steakhouses for ... steak! The dinner starts off with an amuse bouche, and some seemingly artisanal breads, not all that amazing but fun if you don't often get to enjoy a spoon sized course often. I tend to judge a fine restaurant on their bread, and this was just ok. The appetizer menu is short, but a hidden gem of Old Hickory is the cheese plate. For those of us who know a young Stilton can be fruity and Purple Haze is more than a song (or beer), I strongly suggest the 7 cheese plate. This is where the fun begins! I suggest ordering a couple glasses of the Edna Valley Chardonnay ($35 a bottle - wink wink, nothing to see here) and watch the glass roll-top cart roll up to your table with a bevy of bountiful beauties lined up in 3 or 4 rows. A cheese master will guide you through the experience and ask your personal preferences to focus the selections. It is fun and after the selections you receive small food pairings to enjoy and enhance the experience. Behold the power of cheese, ..but I digress. The steaks were wonderfully cooked and to my preference. They tended to be much larger than what my eyes had ordered previous so I suggest getting the smaller portions with the choice cuts ( a la filet mignon) I had noticed that some previous reviewers had bad experiences (which raised some quality concerns) but I can only rate what I have seen. You are given the option of accompanying sauces (french style) which, much like the cheese pairings, can be fun to explore with your table mates. The desserts are about what you would expect, but nothing more. I didn't really see anything special or unexpected. Yet, honestly, if anyone has room at this point in the meal then you haven't enjoyed the best parts of this establishment in my opinion. Probably the worst part of the day was the check, but I knew that going in so it wasn't too much of a surprise. The wait staff was very nice and helpful. My glass was never empty (nor was my wine glass), and the table was promptly cleaned after each course without feeling over-attended on. This can be a romantic place, but one warning... The table for 2 is huge. You sit literally 2 arms lengths from one another and I could barely reach my girlfriend's hand with both of us outstretched. This probably wouldn't come to the minds of most but it took a little off the Valentine's Day mood to be that far apart. (big awwww) **If you're just interested in the cheese part, I asked and it is possible to hit their small bar and get some wine and have them come there with the cart (no reservations needed). Get there early to make sure you can have the place to yourself!** Overall, I'd say they need to come down on what they're charging or really step it up to get a five star rating, but definitely a solid four stars for the unique experience.

Awesome food. Caramel apple martini, best I've had. Cowboy steak, perfect. grande marnier souffle. Yum!

Fabulous atmosphere, food, and service. My husband and I had dinner there, and shared the aligator chilli. I couldn't taste the aligator, but the chilli was good. I got the ostrich steak... Delicious sauce, and cooked perfectly. My hubby got scallops... Very good, unique sauce. Our server was very knowledgeable and polite. The pricing is somewhat aggressive, but it wouldn't stop us from returning. High quality everything.

The food was great but the price very expensive. Difficult for one person to make a meal selection as all of the side dishes were served family style. The bartender was friendly and very efficient!

Wow. What a dissapointment. If you are going to charge high-end (Ruth's Chris, Delmonico's) steakhouse prices, you had better deliver. I had the lobster bisque (Not so good...DEFINITELY did not live up to the server's rave review) and the bone-in steak, which was ordered medium rare, but served still mooing. Although the server had mentioned that the steak would be served "English-Style medium rare - red and warm on the inside," it was cold and raw. When I sent the steak back, it came back medium well. It also went from a thick 1 and 1/2 inches to less than 3/4 inch thickness, it was completely overcooked and charred - grey all the way through. The only saving grace was the cheese course, which was suberbly presented. The "cheese sommelier" or whatever he is called, was absolutely perfect at helping us select six cheeses that met all of our party's desires. The service was just so-so. We dined in a large group (8 of us) and were constantly asking for water and wine to be refilled. Next time I am in Orlando, I'll go somewhere more known for their steaks.

The cheese tray and the wine list are the only reasons to go here! Oh, and it's pretty. Overpriced and badly created and cooked appetizers and sides. Rum reduction over wagyu carpaccio? And yes, it was as disgusting as it sounds. I sent it back and asked them for just a touch of olive oil this time so I could taste the beef! They served it cold. Ice cold. If the Chef is going to prepare classic european fare like carpaccio, maybe he should head over to Belgium for a few week and learn to prepare it! Stick with sunset sams for fish, the mahi mahi was very good here.

Bar waiter was the best service i have had in a long time. While I didn't eat in the restaurant proper we did eat at the bar (reduced menu) and the gentleman (wish i remembered to get his name) was extremely accommodating a very knowledgeable about their items. Highly recommend.

This restaurant is supposed to feel like it's on a swamp (man-made, inside the biodome that is the Gaylord). It's got dependable, good steak and delicious sides (lobster mac & cheese, garlic mash) and the lobster bisque was amazing. We also found an inexpensive and well-received Argentinian malbec for only $44. Solid, but coming from Chicago, I probably wouldn't go here unless I was already at Gaylord for some other reason.

Stayed at this hotel for a convention so we ate here one night. We sat outside in this everglades setting. The service was good, a little slow at times, but then again, we shut the place down at 11pm on a week night. The portions are huge, the prices were steak house high prices, vegetarians will be happy here, and did I already mention the portions are huge? The food was pretty good though. We started with a 3 choice cheese plate for the table. The cheese and the provided bread were very good. I had the salad to start and a bone in steak for dinner. We had about 5 different sides, the loaded mashed potatoes were good. The desserts were also good, the creme brulee, and the bread pudding.

I don't know about the food, besides what I saw on the menu which included elk as the special. My mom and I sat at the bar for a couple of cocktails when the bartender won me over. He made the best Mojito I've ever tasted. When I complimented his work, he told me his secret for fabulous Mojitos every time (only muddle the lime, not the mint). When I went back the next night with my sister, the same bartender remembered my drink and my name! I watched him as he attended to other patrons, and he really knows his stuff....if only I could remember his name! If you go, just look for the attractive, slightly older Asian man.

For a hotel restaurant this place is pretty good. Stayed here for a convention and the restaurant was full, so had to eat in the bar and must say the bone-in rib eye was absolutely delicious. We also had sauteed mushrooms and mashed potatoes which were ala-carte. If you don't want to drive out to eat this is a good place.

Wow.... in all seriousness, this is one of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at. My dining companion had to send her $44.00 filet back 3 times. By the final return of the steak, she was so nauseated, she couldn't eat it. The asparagus was pretty disgusting, as it was served with hollandaise sauce all over it. My crab salad wasn't inedible, and our waiter was actually very nice. I sure hope they fix the problems in this restaurant. Yikes!

expensive but you pay for what you get-service and entrees are phenomenal...side items leave a lot to be desired.

for being the most expensive place in the convention center you'd think the chairs would be more confortable
