I love this bagel place in Kendall! I discovered it only a couple years ago and I'm so happy I did. Its located om 117th avenue in the small plaza just SW of the Red Lobster on Kendall Drive. Also in this plaza is Giardino Salads. Parking can be impossible at times but I've never given up and left. I love coming here on weekends when the place is packed with regulars and the sounds of their conversations amongst eachother and with the owner fill the tiny room. It gives Miami that small town feel even if just for a morning. I enjoy that very much. The staff is like family there. They are pretty friendly and quick with your order. Order at the counter and they'll bring it to your table. If the place is empty enough I'll just wait there for it. Otherwise I sit down to get out of the way. Sometimes I sit outside because anyone who knows me knows I love outdoor seating! They serve bagels, bagel sandwiches, deli saNdwiches (deli meats sliced to order) eggs prepared any way, bacon and nova... of course. Their cream cheeses and butters are mixed there by them and they serve them on the side by default. This is perfect for me because that's the way I normally order it anywhere I go since I don't like the schmears to melt. My favorite bagels here are Egg and Cinnamon Raisin. Their Honey Walnut cream cheese has big pieces of walnuts and is perfectly sweet on either. Though the Egg bagel tastes extra delicious with regular butter. They offer brewed coffee, espresso, Natalie's O.J. and in 2 sizes, canned sodas including Dr. Browns. For dessert they have a cake stand on the counter that's always filled with Rugelach (a Jewish pastry usually made of cream cheese and filled with walnuts, chocolate or fruit). They also sell their spreads/schmears in tubs for you to take home.

The bagel express is a little hole in the wall in a small strip mall. Its a little pricey but, worth it. The bagels are made from scratch and baked fresh daily. They offer a variety of bagels (pumpernickel, sesame, egg, poppy seed, garlic, salt, cinnamon, plain etc). In additon, for the people that are on diets or looking to be a little healthier there's whole wheat and eight-grain available with your choice of regular or low-fat cream cheese. they also offer a variety of drinks from freshly squeezed orange juice, to Dr Brown's sodas which are lightly carbonated and not too sweet.

I swear these bagels have crack in them and if this place was anywhere closer to my house i might seriously need an intervention. Back in highschool there was the Bagel Cart supplying students with the most divine bagels. These bagels were so good, students skipped the free breakfast in the cafeteria and paid to eat these bagels. So good teachers would give students hall passes to make a bagel runs during class! Now having the connections i had with the activities director i soon found out who was supplying these "crack bagels"- Bagel Express. I vowed when i had a car, or had someone willing to take me i would go to this wonderful bagel mecca to pay my homage. I went in and i had to be in heaven, because in an instant i traveled back to my home of my NY bagel shop and deli. I went up ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese, and then the most wonderful words came out of the bagel angel's mouth. "Would you like that toasted?". Toasted? i had never thought of toasting this delicious creation before because i had never had the means. I quickly answered "sure" and a minute later it was ready. It was different from the many bagels i had in school; this one was even better. I bit into the warm chewy crisp bagel and i was sure i was in heaven, bagel heaven. I had to be because no where else in miami had i had a bagel this good. Thank you Bagel express for sharing your love of bagels with me and the world!! [Note: i guess i should mention the details on what they have: different flavors of bagels, breakfast sandwiches, light and regular cream cheese, and your typical bagel stuffs, just way better than your typical bagel place.]

They DO NOT HAVE BIALYS which is a big negative.....they offer to "scoop out the bagel" in lieu of that..ehhh Love the nova scotia platter.. BAGELS ARE THE BEST YOU CAN GET IN THAT AREA...the owner I think was a baker for the old Bagel Hole on Kendall and 107 ave....which was very very renowned in the 70's-early 80's...

A delicious 8 grain bagel with nova, low fat cream cheese, tomato and onions....hmm hmmm GREAT! This place is literally a block away and this is the first time I visit...def not the last.... its a little pricey for bagels but sometimes the stomach wants what the stomach wants...paid $9 for the bagel Cole slaw and a pickle....22 total for 2 sandwiches with sides and drinks. Still like Broadway bagels better but def will be back for a nova bagel again!

So disappointed again. It Felt like an Arnold rye on the inside and not crispy on the outside. Coffee was good

I went in for breakfast on a Saturday morning not expecting much of this place and was pleased with the food, service and variety of options. If you are looking to have a bagel this place will do the trick. I will likely be back.

I love this little place. My husband and I used to go every weekend, religiously, when we lived closer by. We now go about once a month. The service is awesome. The people who work there are super warm and welcoming. They take your order right away and your food comes out fast. The eggs are freshly made, they come out steaming hot. I usually order an egg white omelet w/ ham and a whole wheat bagel toasted w/ honey walnut cream cheese. The bagel is soft but firm, not mushy. The cream cheese is made fresh on premises (or so they say) and it's really good. The omelets are freshly made and always come out perfectly. This is a great little place to stop for breakfast (or brunch, if you roll out of bed @ noon) on the way out on the weekend.

I have been coming to this store long time ago, Bagels are half price after 2pm. The selection of bagels is great, plain, poppy seed, onion, pumpernickle, everyting, garlic, etc. I always get the cream cheese salmon, it's yummy. The owner is always there, the quality of the product is superb.

On a packed Saturday morning, the Bagel Express isn't so express. That's ok though because you can amuse yourself while you wait by reading all the signs with clever anecdotes all over the place. Also, on a packed Saturday, there are lots of families here and it may take awhile for you to stalk a table until someone leaves. All in all, our sandwiches probably took about 15-20 minutes but I was starving so it felt like forever. I am always happy when I find a place that serves breakfast sandwiches. This place also offers turkey sausage too. Bonus! What else is there to say -- it's eggs, bagels and coffee. Nothing stood out good or bad. It was A-Ok. Alas, this place isn't in my hood and it's not all that for me to make a special trip to get here. But if it WERE in my hood, then I would definitely make a habit of coming here to grab a breakfast sandwich. I was surprised to spend a little over 20 bucks for two sandwiches (one lunch one breakfast) and two coffees.

After reading the reviews I was hoping for more. I came for lunch to get away from work for a bit. When I entered, I did notice none of the tables were very clean (crumbs all over them). This is something that annoys me. I feel like when somewhere can't bother to keep something halfway clean, the food quality probably isn't too great. Plus it was very hard to maneuver in between the chairs. It was just really cramped... Anyhow, the menu has a few different sandwich options. I got the egg salad and a soda, which ran me $10. The egg salad was ONLY egg and mayo, no seasoning or other veggies. So, bland overall. It did come with lettuce & tomato that was fresh. I got the sandwich on a pumpernickel bagel, which was decent (they make the dense kind) ....but nothing I would run out to have again. I do NOT recommend their pickles. I love pickles and this one tasted what I imagine a dirty dish rag tastes like. I took one bite and that was it. So for the price, I will definitely not be back for lunch. Maybe their breakfast is better. Oh, and they have one of the weirdest parking lots I think I've ever been in.

Great spot to grab delicious bagels and homemade cream cheese spreads. Their deli sandwiches are also great. Friendly service and family owned, great place to support a local business who takes pride in their work.

Best bagels in the area. Not too expensive either and they usually have coupons.

Bagels here are delicious. They offer fresh deli meats all Boars head. They also have fresh salmon which for breakfast is very kosher. Nothing like having a lots of lox on a Sunday morning. I gie them 3 stars becuase well their coffee really sucks. Once they improve tht arabica bean we are in buisiness! BTW, if you dont know what a lots of lox is it is a bagel cream cheese, tomatoes, onions, capers, and salmon!

I started going to Bagel Express when my son started working there. The best bagels that you can find in the Kendale area. The breakfast is great and so is the lunch specials. My favorite for lunch is their famous turkey salad on an everything bagel.........

I was initially a patron when they first opened, then went on many years later to become an employee and now am back to being a regular patron. Needless to say I love this place! THE most authentic bagels in Miami, made the real way using boiling water and boards in the oven. Also has some of the best egg sandwiches/omelets for the price, not to mention the Boar's Head's meats and fresh whipped cream cheese. They also make some amazing tuna salad, turkey salad and egg salads. All in all a great neighborhood lunch and breakfast spot that I hope to continue going to for many years to come.

This is our go to place for Nova Scotia Platter!! Their prices are reasonable and the salmon is fresh! We have tried some of their omelettes too! Definitely a great breakfast place!!

Pros: It has Bagel in the name and they have the BEST BAGELS. Everything they offer is fresh, excellent quality and what you want ( if what you want is a bagel and cream cheese) Cons: honestly can't think of any

Fresh, cheap bagels and breakfast items. I usually have the #1 (1 bagel of choice with side of butter or cream cheese, cup of coffee that I swap for a can of Coke, and 2 eggs your way). I also add either a side of bacon or a side of grilled ham. OJ available too. I appreciate the option in sizes because I could never drink the large OJ. The Cinnamon Raisin bagel with Honey Walnut cream cheese is my favorite. I tried the Everything bagel just once but didnt have it again because the large grains of salt made it entirely too salty for me. Even after I tried picking them off. The Egg bagel with butter is DELICIOUS. The owner is usually there chatting with the regulars, which is nice. The employees are generally friendly no complaints there really. Order at the counter and they'll bring it to your table. The space is tiny with lots of tables crammed in and a couple outside (bonus points for outdoor seating). Overall, a great little spot for a quick, cheap breakfast. They also serve nova and deli sandwiches but I haven't had either here. I have to knock off 1 star because the bathroom situation is unclear and I don't like that. There might be one there might not be.

Stumbled into this place beginning our day in Miami, and it was not bad considering. was not the best but the place had a good fell to it and the staff were very good at helping us navigate our taste buds, Had eggs over easy and bacon with the home fries. had freshly squeezed O.J. and that was very good. Good ol Florida O.J. Others in our party had the bagel with cream cheeses and omelette with veggies and although not a restaurant with your average breakfast menu, they do accommodate your request for a standard breakfast. Again it's a bagel place. so 3 out of 5 is not bad and is a place to stop in and get yourself a bagel if thats what you'd like. The decor of the place is very comfy.... coffee is very good too

Though the bagel is good and New Yorkish chewy, my garlic bagel is missing.....garlic!..and though "vaguely" pinkish, there are no discernable smidgens of lox in my nova cream cheese. --update on 8/21/2014 HA! Tip is telling me THIS review is shorter than most!! Something I very rarely hear! !

Best bagels in Kendall.....if you like onion bagels get there early because they run out quick, my only gripe is that I decided on a breakfast sandwich, ham and eggs on whole wheat, with a coffee, and one rugalach and was charged over $10. Little pricey for a breakfast sandwich.

I constantly wish this place was next to our house--but my thighs continue to thank Bagel Express for being all the way. down. in. Kendall. You won't find a better bagel outside of New York. That's a true fact. Go in here on the weekend for incredible nova lox and egg bagels (that always always always sell out). But do yourself a favor and just get a dozen and a pint of cream cheese to go. It's cheaper and trust me--you'll want to eat the whole bag. I just have to remind myself that bagels are a "sometimes" food. Oy vay.

I used to live a block away from here and have breakfast all the time here. The bagels here are excellent, and I loved the sandwiches. I would always get an everything bagel with scrambled eggs, ham and cheddar cheese. Just typing it is making my mouth water, lol. They also have some good desserts, like the chocolate rugelach and cookies.

I'm not sure what everyone else experienced giving Bagel Express 5 stars, but I honestly didn't think the world of it. Just average. Hence, the 3 stars. They do have several bagel flavors, but not as many cream cheese flavors as I expected. I ordered a poppy seed bagel with honey walnut cream cheese. The girl behind the counter was friendly, and nice enough to ask if I wanted her to go ahead and spread the cream cheese for me since I was ordering to-go. The bagel was bigger than others I've had, and she did a good job spreading a decent amount of cream cheese all over the bagel. I was the only one in the place on a weekday morning who didn't know anyone else. They had what seemed like regulars in there, striking up conversations with each other. That made me think two things: 1. what a nice, local, friendly place. 2. I sure am an odd-ball, though. Anyway, free coffee with a Yelp check-in. I just read in another person's review that you have a choice of regular, hazelnut, or vanilla coffee. Well, that was NOT the case when I came in. Just the regular. The rest isn't even on the menu, and the girl did not ask me.

Really miss this place after moving away from Miami. Best bagels I've ever had. The owner makes the bagels fresh everyday and the options for toppings are all fresh and delicious.

This a a review 20 years in the making, Bagel Express was my favorite bagel shop in Miami when I spent a few months here after Hurricane Andrew. Amazingly over the 20 years the ownership has not changed. I'm impressed. My standards are based on the New York Bagel Standard. Needs to be boiled, not baked and just the right crunch. I was happy to see my experience at Bagel Express has not changed in 20 years. Ok, enough history. Honestly, Bagel Express has delicious bagels. I hate going to the chain bagel shops because it just not a real bagel in my book. If you're a displaced New Yorker or just looking for a decent bagel in Miami, Bagel Express is worth the stop. Thumbs up from me. Enjoy.

First time there and it was really good. I bought a bag of bagels and cream cheese to go to bring home since it was so good. It's small, not crazy busy, and nice people. We'll definitely be back.

These are the best bagels in town. I'm from New York, and this is the closest I can find to a good NY bagel. Get there early to get the best selection because they sell out fast. You can also get breakfast and deli sandwiches. Free cup of coffee when you check in on Yelp. It's small and gets packed. There are 8 crowded tables inside and two outside. It's nice to sit outside and they will bring the order to your table. They close at 2pm, but last weekend at 11am they were out of everything and salt bagels which are very popular.

This place has fresh great tasting bagels and the service has always been spot on. The Honey Walnut cream cheese is very tasty without being too sweet. The location is a little small and fills up quickly.

Living so close to this place, I don't come as often as I would like but every time I do, it delivers. As simple as a deli/bagel place can get, Bagel Express is great. A little hole in the wall tucked away in shopping center, add good food and friendly service, and its just my kind of place. Another sign that this place is good, a lot of the people you'll see eating in or taking out are regulars, long time regulars. With all the staples from the bagels to the pastrami sandwich, everything in the menu is good. But my weakness is the nova platter. This is my regular and always with an egg bagel. The salmon is so fresh and so clean...Outkast (Goldmember's voice) lol if you get the joke. The cream cheese is so soft and creamy add the crunchiness of the onion, the juiciness of the tomato, the particular softness of the egg bagel and you get as close as a heavenly bite can get. I could have used more salmon, thought.

I totally believe in supporting locally family owned businesses and this is one of them. There is a Dukin Donuts just down the street but I'd much rather prefer buying my bagels from this local shop. They have all sort of bagels and flavors to choose from including plan, everything, sesame, cinnamon, wheat, and more. And they have all flavors of cream cheese too from plain, chive, low fat, and much more. I usually order the Bakers dozen which is actually 13 bagels and you can choose the flavors. You can eat inside or take them to go. The bagels are so fresh and always taste great for days and do not go stale. I went early this past Sunday morning, checked in with Yelp and they gave me a free coffee. Who doesn't love free yelp check in freebies? All in all, if you're craving large fresh bagels and cream cheese, this place is the way to go!

The very best "old school" bagel breakfast place around!! The service is always outstanding. Food is always consistently good. You have your choice of regular, hazelnut or vanilla coffee. Love that it's a locally owned bagel shop and not part of a chain. You can watch television while waiting for your food. Love the honey butter with my bagel too! Fast service and eggs are cooked to order including the bagel sandwiches. No microwave eggs here! (hate that so many other places do that now)

Great Service. Great Bagels. Enjoy. We got two types of everything bagels and they were both Delicious. We've been living in Athens Georgia since 2000 frankly there have not been any really good bagels up there most of this time. Needless to say getting some really good New York style bagels was a treat for us.

  • Luis P.

Okay, to begin with, the staff is extremely nice. The bagels are exquisite. Also, the place is cozy. I go at least once a month and always get the same. Large Nova Scotia platter with whole wheat bagel. You have to try it if you're into smoked salmon. All their ingredient are fresh and tasty... Even the tomato (which is pretty difficult to find fresh sometimes at restaurants). I haven't really made friends with the regulars cause everyone is much older. But.... This is one of those places you feel that is family owned and you would like to partake in the conversations. The place is really small but it's worth going.
