Full disclosure: I went to a pho restaurant and ordered fried rice. I met a friend there ... who LOVES pho, but I had not tried pho before ... do I ordered what I knew and then shared a bit of his pho. About the pho - it was good! I can see why people crave it, and this seemed a particularly nice bowl of it. They provided a large portion. It had a good ratio of beef, vegetables, and noodles. It was pleasantly warm with flavor, not overly spiced. About the fried rice - also a decent rendition of this classic dish. I ordered it with chicken. The meat was well cooked - not over done. The rice however was a little overdone - a bit rubbery. But overall the dish was tasty. The atmosphere here is not super exciting ... I think this building has been several different restaurants in its lifetime. But the service was good and the environment was clean.

We tried Yummy Pho for the first time because my usual place was closed. We had the vermicelli with grilled pork and egg rolls and the chicken pho. The chicken pho was delicious, the broth was flavorful and all the fixings were fresh and delicious. The vermicelli with grilled pork and egg rolls fell short. The vermicelli was good, but the pork was overcooked and dry, almost to the point of being inedible. The egg rolls had been overcooked but still had a good taste, if only they hadn't been cooked so long. Overall the experience was just meh, I may try again in the future, it just fell short this time around.

Tried this place for the first time yesterday. If you can put aside the looks of the outside of the place, and the 24/7 Christmas decor inside; it has amazing Pho. The actual broth is so flavorful. I will definitely be back for more. It is a little hot inside, so be prepared to sweat a little if you order piping hot Pho to savor.

Fe Fi Fo Fum eating Pho at Yummy Pho at lunch today...was a pleasurable experience. The rare beef Pho was very good and served in a pleasant manner with fresh vegetable. The decor is very nice and appears to be recently redone with nice tile and pleasant ambience. My next where to go place.

Hands down one of the BEST meals you can have in town! Seriously. I ordered the A3. BBQ Rolls for an app, V2. Grilled pork over rice vermicelli noodle with egg roll (ask for an extra eggroll) for my meal and B14. Mango Boba Tea to wash it all down. Jeff had the S10. Wonton Noodle Soup (with all the bells & whistles) on the specialty soup page. Order anything on the menu. Trust me. You will not be disappointed. You're going to want to kiss the chef. The food is that good. There is a reason why Vietnam is Anthony Bourdain's favorite place on Earth to eat and you can find some the best offering at Yummy Pho right here in Jacksonville!

the vermicelli V.3 is terrific. I've had this at several Vietnamese restaurants in the country and Yummy Pho's is one of the best

I decided to give Yummy Pho a shot since it's located conveniently in my neighborhood. I was going through one of those "I need some meat and rice NOW" cravings, so I didn't go there for the pho. Plus it felt like 90 degrees outside, so a hot soup just wasn't in the cards. Maybe next time when it's 30 degrees out...like 3 days from now perhaps. Gotta love this bipolar Florida weather. Atmosphere: Looks much better on the inside, because from the outside, i have to say it's a little suspect. Spacious layout, and it's impeccably clean, even the floors. I don't know how closely they follow current events, but someone should let them know that they can put the Christmas trees away now. Just saying. Other than that, no complaints. Food: I started off with the crispy eggrolls....NOW...on the menu, it states that shrimp is one of the components to the filling. I asked the waitress if they had an eggroll available without seafood in it, and she said..."The menu says that the eggroll has shrimp inside, but there's no shrimp. It just says that." ...........Right. Of course I should have known that. What was I thinking. *sigh* So I go ahead and order the eggrolls, and the marinated pork with sunny side up egg and rice. The eggrolls arrived in a jiffy and were pretty much the norm. Nothing special, no wow factor here. The taste, texture and dipping sauce simply reminded me of those at alot of other pho joints. Shortly after, the main course was set in front of me and, while the entree itself was quite flavorful (no disappointment there), the portion size was lacking. When I left i was still hungry. More meat and another egg would have been perfect. For a minute I thought I made a mistake and ordered from the kids menu or something. But no...it's just small. Service: A bit of a language barrier going on, but I powered through it. I was checked on often and the staff were friendly with a good disposition, so kudos in the service category. I can see myself in every restaurant from now on going "So the menu SAYS there's beef in the burger...but is it true or is the menu just SAYING that?......" Uggh. Oh well. Overalllllll...Yummy Pho is an OK joint. Would i come here regularly? Nope. However, this place may be for you IF 1. you're on a serious diet or 2. you love surprises. Either way, up to you. And as always till next time...keep on Yelping!

First visit last week. Tried the spicey beef Pho soup. I know, I'm nuts like that on a hot day. LOL. The bowl was larger then my head and it tasted just as great. The shrimp spring roll was larger then most places. When you are craving something healthier then McD's and want to expand your horizons, give it a go. I look forward to going again to try the other items on the menu. Yes, the outside looks sketchy & the inside is large. Could use an interior decorator though. Service was fast and not to formal, so come as you are.

I always order a small bowl of Pho whenever I visit Pho restaurants. For $7.75 ($8.30 after tax), their small bowl of Pho is too small compared to Pho Today in Southside area. They have pitiful amount of beef and barely any noodle.. It doesn't even taste as good as a small bowl of Pho at Pho Today on Southside.

I always enjoy seeing a restaurant re-inventing an old fast food building into a sit down spot. Yummy pho does this with pizzazz. Along with the standard plant life and golden waiving kitty you see at other asian themed restaurants, the Yummo Pho establishment also boasts neon ribbon trim along the ceiling and a kareoke machine in the back area (don't know if that was for customers though). My coworkers and I stopped by one Friday to see if they can beat the fabulous Pho flavors of our normal spot (hint, it's by the Avenues). The menu looked common for a Vietnamese restaurant, the prices were average, and the #5 Pho (Rare steak & Flank Steak) was on-point. The only thing I didn't like about the soup was the ratio of noodles to liquid was way off. For a large bowl, the amount of noodles was lacking. Another ding was that the service wasn't up to par. I understand it may be difficult managing a large party and that separating the checks may be difficult. But during checkout, we were marred with incorrect checks. During our visit, the credit card machine was on the fritz and it wasn't able to handle more than 3 tickets at a time. Besides those minor snafu's, the food was good. The price was right. I'll be willing to give Yummy Pho another visit.

A new pho spot in JAX! We are regulars at Bowl of Pho, but were happy to support a new Vietnamese place, especially since Hunh Thinh Supermarket is right behind Yummy Pho (which it looks like the same family runs both). Since the restaurant is brand new, this review is more forgiving, as I'm sure things will improve in the coming months. There were a few things that were a little slow or forgotten (had to ask for soup spoon and napkins), but for the most part, the food was great. The staff were really nice and it looks like Yummy Pho already has a steady customer base. We'll be back to check out more of the menu!

The service was great. Had a very sweet server. I think they need some work on quality control. The meatballs in our pho were extremely fatty and had not been trimmed. We waited about 30 minutes for our spring rolls because they ran out. Our soup came before the app. When they came out they were full of holes so the shrimp and lettuce kept falling out. Broth doesn't have quite the depth I am used to. But it will do on a work night when I don't feel like driving to the Southside.

Food was good, although I absolutely hate restaurants that have staff out in the customer area camped out, eating and watching TV. You will have a good dinner here at a fair price.

I have to be honest & I hope the owners find this as a constructive review of their restaurant. I have to say the food has been slowly going downhill since the new person took over in the kitchen. The first week of opening was their best offerings of delish food. However, the crab noodle soup (bun rieu) dish I religiously order has changed in taste. First few times it tasted great but recently it didn't remotely have the distinguishing flavors it originally had. Considering this is the only restaurant that offers it, it's disheartening to see this dish has become mediocre. It tasted as if reg. pho broth was thrown in & was disguised with seafood meatballs, a little red coloring from the peppers, tomatoes, etc. Can't fool me new cook! It's definitely not the same. However the Hue spicy beef noodle soup (bun bo hue) is now back to it's original good flavor & taste as when we originally had it during their first open week. I hope others come back for this particular dish since it's back to it's yummy self. Personally, the only restaurant in Jax that got this dish right. I hope this restaurant stays consistent if they want to compete, but they have dishes that many others don't offer. They have so much potential to set themselves apart from all the other Pho restaurants. They can distinguish themselves as the top Bun restaurant. I would love for the wife's owner to come back to cook, if not at least make sure the new cooks know how to replicate her good cooking :). On another note, one thing that is improving is the service, the wait staff is great as they make sure you get what you want & the glasses stay full. It hasn't diminish, keep up the great work! By the way, we miss you Liberty. Hope school is going great. Hope to see ya serving us next time at the restaurant.

Very good Pho. I was driving by and I found it by accident. Decided to stop by and I was surprised how good it was. I recommended it. I am Vietnamese and this is good.

Really happy to find this great new little Vietnamese restaurant. Wife and I both had different Pho noodle soups with such delicious subtle flavors and nice presentation with basil, sprouts, lime, and jalapeños as sides. Very reasonable for the size of the bowls, large is really huge.

This place just opened, so this review will be a bit forgiving. The subpar service and decor reflects that it is started by grocery store owners (Hung Thinh), not true restaurateurs. Nonetheless, it certainly has potential based on the decent food and variety of the menu. However, if it intends to have the draw of Bowl of Pho, it needs to hire a more professional wait staff and a makeover of its interior.

This is my second visit to this restaurant. The food is good however getting information about the menu items is very challenging. Trying to find a vegetarian dish was nearly impossible. I ordered what was supposed to be crab and tomato soup and specifically asked them to leave out any meat yet when I got it there were slices of a mystery meat floating in it. When I asked the waiter what it was he came back and said it was a vegetable loaf. So I asked them to write down the Vietnamese name of it and when they did and I googled it turned out to be a ham loaf made of pork. When I asked the waiter to go ask them If this was indeed what I thought it was, he came back sheepishly and said yes but then left it on the table with the meat floating in my soup and didn't offer to replace it with something that was not meat. Don't get me wrong, the boy was very nice but he is an ineffective waiter. I imagine he will learn as he goes and get better. He admittedly was unable to converse effectively with the cooks because they speak Vietnamese and he does not. The facilities are clean and nice and physically it is an attractive place. The waiter still behind the counter eating his lunch while I was eating mine and while I understand that the staff may get hungry, when I was younger and working in restaurants the staff did not eat and drink in front of the customers. When most of the customers left, the entire Vietnamese staff which appears to be everybody there, about six or seven people not including the waiter who must be an outsider Came into the restaurant itself with their lunches brought all their food out there and commenced to eating their family dinner. This I do not have a problem with as I have found this to be very very common in most Asian restaurants, but I don't find it as appealing to have the waiter standing behind the counter in full view of the customers eating his lunch while working. One other little point, in the menu they advertise a soup with "clear noodles ". Clear noodles are bean thread noodles which appear nearly transparent when cooked. I have a particular fondness for this type of noodle. When I asked him about it he informed me that although it said clear noodles, it was the regular rice noodles that they served with everything else. That is a shame because bean thread noodles are great. All in all this restaurant is good enough to warrant another visit because I love the style of food, but now I know I need to be exceptionally careful when ordering.

Very curteous cashier offered military discount after seeing Navy FCU card. Very inexpensive.. even without discount. No resemblance to Vietnamese or Thai food though. Just Fast food.

Well yesterday was my 2nd visit to Yummy Pho. The first time was excellent, good broth, good flavors, great spring rolls. I decided to go back yesterday, and lets just say I will not be going back. I had the WORST food poisoning of my life. Please, make sure to keep your facility CLEAN and use FRESH ingredients each day.

Fairly new restaurant. I have got to say I am quite pleased , It was suggested by a employee of the asian store that is behind it. Menu offers quiet a lot of different types of Pho. They give the option of reg, L and XL and price is just 1.00 difference. Enviroment is clean. Although I do not recommend having children to be seated by the window where the open sign. The plug to the sign is nailed onto the wall but toddlers can still get ahold of it. Tables and floors were clean along with their condiments that are on the tables. They do have a TV that is on and not just used as a decoration. ( Some may know what I'm talking about. ) Their spring rolls were freshly made, wrapper was warm. I prefer not to have peanuts in my sauce , which they were accommodating. We ordered the pork and shrimp version, they do offer just shrimp. My personal feeling is I will order just the shrimp next time , as the pork was a bit fatty.. so it made it hard to eat. May look smaller but it is thicker which means it is stuffed more. With cilantro which not many of them will have that in it. The great part is the waitress will ask if you are ok with cilantro . We wanted to try out the different types of pho so I ordered the recommended one and a different one that had sea food. It does not look like what is in the photo, but it did taste good. Ours didn't really have that many sea food ( squid, shrimp, imitation crab) but mine which was the beef version had a lot of meat. The side bean sprouts, basil , lime , IMO they could of offered more. Bean sprout was sort of translucent which means it was kept in the cold area ... so it did get fridge frozen. Lime were on the dry side , it wasn;t old old for say but it just didn't have the juice to squeeze. Water... well if you're ok with tap water then there's not problem, but I personally don't. All in all everything else besides the minor issues which it could be totally different next time we go. I would certainly go again cause the food was good.

So I read the other Yelp reviews and was excited about venturing out all the way to the Westside to try this place. The decor being subpar is an understatment. Look I understand it's on the Westside, but that doesn't mean it has to look like it's on the Westside. The only word I can find to describe the appearance of the restaurant is it's not very inviting. I had the pho, and it was pretty bland. BOP is better for sure. I had the Bun Bo Hue since the other yelp reviewer swears by it, and yes it was rich in color/flavor. But it had a layer of grease over the top, and they didn't serve it with any veggies. I was pretty disappointed overall. Will I come back? Probably not. Nothing really stood out about this place, other than it's new. I believe the success of BOP have now cause the saturation of the Jacksonville market with too many mediocre Vietnamese restaurants. It's the same reason why the Jacksonville food scene is so generic, just look at all the frozen yogurt places that have popped up.

New pho place that opened up right next to Hung Thinh Vietnamese grocery store (which IMO is the best asian grocery around). They took over a former Arby's, so the exterior definitely reflects that. They did a good job with the interior though, so you don't feel like you're in a fast food joint. We were the only non-vietnamese people in the restaurant which to me is always a good sign - don't worry though, the wait staff speaks perfect english. They have a great selection of traditional vietnamese fare, and the service was pretty quick (as almost any vietnamese restaurant is). They're still working out the kinks, having just opened a couple of days ago - one of our orders was wrong, but we ate it anyways because the young waitress seemed overwhelmed. The food was great, and just what we wanted without having to drive all the way to our regular pho spot - Bowl of Pho on Baymeadows. Give this place a shot - I know I'll keep coming back (especially to get my pho fix and asian grocery needs).

I share the previous reviewers' enthusiasm for this new restaurant. It is worth a look, and Westside folks are lucky they have this up and coming ethnic restaurant in their neighborhood. They had more servers when I ate there today, and the one that helped me was very new. She was attentive, but she was not familiar with the cuisine, which may cause problems if someone were to wander in, curious about the country's food. It wasn't a problem with me as I knew what to order. I had their fresh spring rolls, which was freshly rolled and came with warm peanut sauce. I must emphasize "freshly rolled", as certain Vietnamese restaurants prepare their fresh rolls ahead of time and refrigerate them, which lends a chewy/rubbery texture to the wrapper as it loses moisture in the fridge. Here, the skin was light yet held up pretty well. I also had the vermicelli noodles with grilled shrimp and egg rolls. That was also pretty good. The restaurant was clean and appears to have been dolled up, as I do not think that the decor was subpar, as previously noted by earlier posters. I am inclined to come back in the near future to try out their pho selection.

I wanted to like this place more I really really did, While the waitstaff was very friendly and eager to please, the service was still spotty at best. I ordered the sausage spring roll, the Bun Bo Hue, and a taro boba. First to the table was a plate of so/so looking sprouts and a bit of greens with a few bits of herbs mixed in (parsley and maybe a bit of basil but so little it was hard to tell) and a chunk of lime about the size of my thumb tip. I'm used to sprigs of mint and basil and some chili peppers, so this was a bit iffy to start. About 5 minutes later the soup came, the rolls another 5 minutes later and finally the boba. I'm not a stickler on the whole app first thing so timing wasn't huge but it does tend to indicate an inexperienced kitchen so I'm tossing it out there. I was most dissapointed by the rolls expecting a highly flavored sweet savory sausage like lop chong, the only thing I tasted in the roll was the basil. The soup which should be a sweat inducing broth was extremely bland requiring loads of fish sauce and siracha, there was a fairly small amount of meat, it seemed like there was one piece of each of the different meats and only ONE small chunk of the blood cake which is half of the reason for ordering this over the Pho, add to that the noodles being a bit overcooked and soft and the overall experience was just a bit lacking. It is the closest and easiest Pho source so I'll invariably give em another chance, but next time I'm getting the Pho in hopes that the broth for this signature dish is a bit more developed than the one used for the Bun Bo. The Taro Boba was excellent, next time breath be damned I'm going in for the durian version.
