Great selection of beers and the pretzel is to die for! The waitress was extremely accommodating to my numerous requests to try certain beers and when I had questions. The kitchen was also really nice when they messed up our order, they sent it back right away and brought us something else. Fun atmosphere, fun people...great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I'll definitely be back!

My party of five - 3 adults and 2 kids rolled in around 7pm. It's an open air bar that serves comfort food. The fourth star is for our server Leah! She's awesome, super sweet and attentive - ask for her if you come! We purser the chipotle chicken sandwich, 2 bacon cheeseburgers, shrimp tacos and the set rub wings. Everything was fresh and tasty - we left full. Try the root beer it's delicious!

I haven't been to the world of beer in Tinseltown in quite sometime. I decided to stop in on a Wednesday evening around 7pm & boy was it crowded!! I'm not a fan of the setup seeing it's quite difficult to manuever around the tiny spots. I was able to find a seat at the bar & luckily the guy next to me left about 15 min later & my bf was able to snag his seat. We started out with a can of rekorderlig strawberry/lime cider for myself & a terrapin rye for my bf. For an app we ordered the tavern tators..you really can't go wrong with these!! Tator tots covered in beer cheese, bacon, scallions, & sour cream. Basically a heart atteak on a plate but a damn goood one!! 2nd round of drinks came quickly for me with a mckenzies lazy lemon cider with a splash of framboise. My bf was also almost finished with his beer but the bartender didn't bother asking if he wanted another. A couple minutes later another bartender came around & he ordered the "can of the month" which was the Terrapin Recreation for $3. In my opinion, you couldn't have paid me $3 to drink it but for all you beer drinkers with hoppy palets it's perf!! For the main meal we split the chipotle chicken sandwich minus the lettuce & tomato & substituded the swiss cheese for cheddar. It comes with either ff, tots, or apple kale coleslaw. We chose the steak fries. It was all very tasty & the chicken was juicy. The fries were smokin hottt!! I've worked at the Jax Beach WOB since they opened so of course I'm partial to that location but I was inpressed with my visit & also appreciated the enployee discount! Cheers WOB*STARS!!!

i have wanted to try world of beer for a while, so glad i did..my normal new place trying friend was with me for lunch..its a little difficult to locate this place in all the twists and turns and what not..it was pretty empty and the lay out is huge..the servers were all hanging out and it was hard to determine who was staff and who was a patron..our server in particular was friendly and brought me a whole pitcher of water..excellent! We settled in and ordered a raspberry beer for me and a pineapple beer for my friend..that raspberry beer as sweet and tart..really good, but i dont think i would drink more than one of them at any given time..we also ordered a potato soup for me and a pretzel for her..the soup as creamy and yummy, and came with green onions and bacon a plenty! she ordered a pretzel, and when it came we couldnt help but laugh..cause this thing is GIGANTIC!! she enjoyed it alot.. we next ordered a turkey club with tots for her and a margharita flatbread for me..this flat bread was off the hook, loved all the flavors! i also tried another type of beer..the battle axe..it was good but the finish as a little hoppy in the finish..we will be coming back here for some more beer fun, maybe ill try a beer flight next time..

There beer selection is fabulous. Hence why its called World of beers. Hubby and i went around 1 on a Saturday.. Got two appetizers the onion rings and the tater tots. Both were good.

Service has always been good here for me. They have background and live music. I have a buddy that plays live music here off an on. Good spot for a small group. Gets packed! Good variety of beer selection which is expected. Everything has been solid here for me my only complaint is how busy it gets. Nearly every time I've been here it's been packed and hard to find a spot to sit.

While World of Beer offers a wide variety of beer, it can be overwhelming to choose. I do like the environment and the selection but overly my experiences here are just okay. Unless you are ordering one of the specials, the bar tab can add up quickly, even during the "happy hour" which simply shaves $1 off the price of the drafts. Service is a little on the lackluster side, unless you are a regular perhaps since it seemed that others around us had much more attention.

Great selection of beers only reason I did not give it 5 is because it's a bit on the small side and can be noisy even before the late crowd shows up.

This place is great! The beer selection is out of this world...anything Belgium will work on any day, st.bernards abt 12, delirium tremens, the victory golden monkey, strong and delicious, little pricy but well worth the money. Plus the fried shrimp appetizer, probably one of the tastiest shrimp that I have tasted in jacksonville , and i have worked in seafood restaurants in the past

I am not a beer drinker... can't stand the stuff... but I love World of Beer! They actually have one beer that I really like, but it doesn't taste like beer at all. I swear it doesn't. It's called Raspberry Lambik and it's from Belgium. yelp.com/biz_photos/worl… Thanks so much to a friend of mine who is a beer afficionado and introduced me to this wonderful beverage. If you are like me and not a beer drinker at all, I highly recommend you try this one. I don't think you'll be disappointed! World of Beer is a great place to sit back and chill with a group of friends and have some drinks. It's a real laid back kinda place. They have a great mix of music playing, but it's not so loud you can't hear one another speak. I love they have an "outside-inside" portion with tables and chairs. This gives us smokers a place to smoke without being completely outside in the elements. Yes, I smoke. Don't judge or hate or lecture! I've now been here twice and I have yet to try the food. I hear it's pretty good and from what I've seen it looks pretty tasty. One of these days I'll try something, but each time I've been, I'd already had dinner somewhere else, so I arrived full. If you are a beer drinker or a beer afficionado, you'll certainly love World of Beer. The selection of beers they have to choose from is crazy stupid (but in a good way)!

Very disappointed with this place, I ordered a stout and the server brought me a brown ale, I told her that it wasn't a stout and she tried to convince me otherwise. Thinking that i didn't know the difference. After that I ordered wings and came back 5 minutes later saying that they ran out. Which again was an excuse, she immediately proceeded to offer tacos. Me being hispanic. Anyway, it's just bad business for this place. As far as me, this place won't be one of my first picks to go out to.

Stopped in for some dinner and drinks while the wife and I were enjoying a night out in Jacksonville. I'm a craft beer guy, and this is my kind of place. Seems to be a very chill atmosphere, and hipsters aside, the crowd was enjoyable. Very welcoming, as you walk through the patio to enter the restaurant. I watched a couple fellas playing jenga with 2x4's on one table, while a number of groups were sitting at their respective tables, enjoying each other's company and some delicious beers. We sat at the bar and were served fairly quickly. Service was pretty solid all night, the bartenders were attentive and friendly. They have a ridiculous amount of beers on tap and in display coolers, all organized by country. I like that the draft beers change daily, and they have menus offering their specialties. Another high point is that they have lots of different glasses, to make sure you get the beer in the appropriate drinking utensil- as a Sam Adams guy, I know all about it... it definitely adds to the flavor if you're drinking it right. The wife and I each sampled a few different beers and ordered some appetizers. We had some sweet and spicy golden ale fried shrimp, some cheesy tater tots, and I had some chicken wings. Wings were very good- I like the crispy skin with tender meat, and the Honey BBQ was pretty good, sweet with not too much heat. The tater tots were perfectly cooked (unlike a school cafeteria) and were topped with melted cheese, ranch, and jalapenos. The shrimp were absolutely bomb diggity delicious. Fried up perfectly with a delicious glaze, they were the highlight of the meal. Overall, really enjoyed my stop here, I'm glad I found this place (Thanks again, Yelp!). Unbelievable selection of beers, great menu, great service, and a chill atmosphere. Definitely a great place to hang out with friends, or stop by and watch the game. Will be back next time I'm in the area. HOOOOOOORAY BEER!!!!

If you are a beer lover, you will fall in love with this place. The staff is cool, the prices are reasonable, and the selection is great. Not to mention they always have great specials and good snacks. This location is also very close to other bars so you can always bar hop when you belly is full and need a shot of tequila since they don't sell liquor.

Did someone say beer? Had to come check this place out after having a great experience at one in Orlando that had a live band and knowledgeable staff. Have now been a few times to this location either to meet up with friends to watch a sports game or play trivia, and it's a similar experience pretty much every time. Great mix of indoor/outdoor seating, especially when the weather is nice. Music can be blaring at times (you know it's too loud if you're slightly drunk and it still bothers you), but is a lot of fun when a live band comes in to play. Gotta break out the glasses for the chalk board of what's on draft - also make sure to check which seasonal drafts/bottles are on special. The servers are friendly, though their knowledge of what's on draft can vary from spot-on to sketchy at best. Pretty much want to avoid anyone wearing fishnet stockings (at least from my experience). All in all a solid choice to meet up with friends for a glass or two.

I've died & gone to burgers heaven. I mean they're known for beers but JEEZUS the BBQ burger is heavenly. Yes, bacon. Yes, cheese. Yes, BBQ sauce. 'MURICA!!!

Meh. Meh. Meh. Dear WOB, You're not that cool. Bartenders here are pretentious. Like, HI I'm obviously sitting here with nothing in front of me can you ask me if I'm thirsty? They will walk by you forty times before someone stops and asks if you've been helped. The music is loud for such a tiny place, however, they do have a cool stage that is basically raised about the bar so whoever is singing is very high up, that's pretty neat. I don't really appreciate that if you sit at the bar and you finally get your beer they make you pay for it immediately. Like what if I come for one beer then I decide I want a second? I'm gonna have how many separate charges if I don't feel like opening a tab? Also, if you open a tab they run your card right there and hand it back to you. Okay cool, I won't forget my card now but you can just leave and they'll never make you sign anything. One time I left and I went back in and had to ask for receipt. So weird? Anyway, whatever, they have a lot of cool beer, but so does like 45 other bars in Jacksonville which are much cooler, trendier and not a chain like this one. PS-Their chips and salsa suck. One good thing though, since I've been pretty negative, is you can bring in other food like from the Moe's right next door. I've only been here twice because I wanted to give it the second chance but that didn't work out too well. It's just so borrriiiinnnggg and stupid here. Sorry I'm not, bye!

World of Beer was chosen for our monthly Impact Jax event last night. I thought it would be interesting to check out other venues that boasted a multitude of craft beer *other* than "Beer Land" (King Street in Riverside.) I was taken aback at the VARIETY of beer I beheld! I don't know who has more (World of Beer or Kickbacks Gastropub) but World of Beer was VERY straightforward with their beer selection posted on their chalkboard menu and an tempting myriad of bottles stood gleaming in the refrigerator begging to be adopted. I was ecstatic when I saw they had Innis & Gunn on the menu! I've never seen it served anywhere but bottled so I rushed to get it from the tap! Standing in line took longer than most places around town but we had a crowded event and the servers worked diligently to keep up. The wait didn't bother me because It was fun meeting people in line and asking what beer they were going to try. It was the perfect icebreaker! I was also delighted to see the staff took the time to pour beer into different types of appropriate glassware! There was a wide variety of new amber filled shapes all around me and I loved it! My Innis & Gunn "Original" beer was served in a short snifter. I was a little disappointed that everyone around me had ample beer served in a LARGE glass but I quickly got over it because it was like liquid golden nectar! The beer was seriously AMAZING! I am still thinking about how deliciously satisfying it was even the next day! What I didn't like: The decoration was an utter bore! Neon beer logos overlaying brick walls looked generic and boring. Take me to some place NEW like a German Biergarten, British Pub, or something unique with a PERSONALITY! Drinking my awesome beer surrounded by a smattering of advertisements is cheap and flatly uninspiring. The acoustics were also awful. You literally had to YELL just to have a conversation with someone a foot from you. And believe me, I was self-conscious enough about my breath after eating their yummy fried pickles! I gestured to go to the porch to my new found friend in hopes I could hear her better but it was only moderately better on the patio. Why was the music so loud in a venue where you were already fighting an uphill battle to hear each other? I don't remember the previous tenants, Starbucks, being that deafening. Would I go back? I doubt it unless they changed the acoustics and decor. I can drink beer at home, what I want is to be able to drink beer in an establishment that provides scenic escapism! It was pretty ugly inside and deafeningly loud. I know other craft breweries/pubs around town can also be loud but at least there's Giant Jenga, Corn Hole, or Foozball to distract you from it ;p

So it's a chain, but as far as those go it's not a bad one. Craft beer-crazed hubby carefully selected a brew from an extensive menu, and I checked out the scene. It was fairly nice, with a large open mingling space inside and a nice patio area, a stage for a live band and several large TV screens. My only complaint is an old-lady one. It was way too loud for conversation in the joint. There was a great band playing, and the place was hopping since it just opened, but I almost lost my voice just trying to chit chat with my friends. Ain't nobody got time for that.

Receiving a lowly review for ridiculously overpriced beer. My fiancée and I stopped in for the first time to grab a beer and check it out before a movie. We both ordered local beers(which are typically more expensive) and I was sickened when I saw our bill was upwards of $16 for two draft beers. Been to most bars in Jax, worked at a few restaurants in college, and never can I say that I've seen two beers go for that much. I won't be back--and they won't be around long if they keep those prices once the newness wears off.

This is our favorite spot in jax right now. We've been here a dozen times and it never gets old. Beer selection is best in north FLORIDA. Bands are great. Even though it's miserably hot outside the engineering of this open door facility keeps it cool. Not sure how but I haven't sweated once here. So far we haven't had a bad experience.

World of Beer (WoB) = The newest nightclub in Jax! *sigh* Having visited other WoB locations in South/Central Florida I was super excited when I learned they were building one in Jacksonville. Sadly, my feelings of nostalgia were quickly extinguished by the deafening sounds of a meet-market overshadowed by terrible acoustics. Yes, it's excruciatingly loud and overcrowded. Remember that feeling you got when you went to a concert and stood too close to the stage? Welcome to World of Beer! On my third visit (I really wanted to like this place) a fight breaks out in the parking lot. On a Thursday night?! REALLY?! You would think a crowd with an average age of 30 would behave more appropriately! There are three places I would expect this type of juvenile behavior to occur: high school, a football game, and, wait for it.....a NIGHTCLUB! Seriously, this place has barely been open a month and it's already attracting a bad element. I was a tad concerned when I was greeted by a bouncer at the door, which had not occur at other locations (or prior visits). Apparently he was there to prevent the children from getting in, but alas, it wasn't working. But I digress, the WoB does deserve some merit. I have never had bad customer service at any location, or a beer from a unclean tap (you beer aficionados know what I'm talking about). The staff is fairly knowledgeable and the seating is comfortable if you can find it. Also, the parking is ample provided you use the movie theater parking lot. The loyalty card program is very cool, and is accompanied by a sleek app that allows one to search their entire menu and track your beer purchases. Furthermore, I no longer have to make my weekly pilgrimage across the river to Kickbacks to find a decent beer selection (don't worry guys, you're still my absolute favorite). If you're an overly tan 20-something guy wearing an Affliction shirt (2 sizes too small), and you're looking to hook up, perhaps this is the place for you! If you enjoy the nightclub atmosphere you'll feel right at home at the WoB. If you desire a decent watering hole to relax and enjoy an extensive beer menu with your mates look elsewhere (or wait a year for all the hype to wear off).

They had my favorite beer, Founders Breakfast Stout! Usually comes off the shelf before spring. Kudos for having it! Server was friendly and helpful. Gets crowded which is a good thing so come early! Ordered some flatbread which was pretty good! Always a fun time!

I'm really surprised to see an average rating for this place. I loved it. The place had a ton of choices of beer. The staff was really great. The place was very clean and the food was good. If your in the area and stopping for a beer this is the place to go vs all the other places in the area.

Great beer, great times! The live band was on point and so was Claire our waitress. Definitely recommend this place.

Lots of beer obviously. Small and privy menu. I think it has like $8 pretzels. I'm not at a stadium so save the effort. Just keep the beer flowing. Not a place to order the usual, but if you like to try new beers at a reasonable price, this is a good place to start. Roomier than you'd think for a converted Starbucks.

Great to see WOB's in Jacksonville. This place is in the old Starbucks location next to Moe's in Tinseltown area. We visited on a Tuesday night and arrived around 9pm EST. It was easy to find a place to park and the place wasn't crowded during this visit. The inside is on the small side and smoking is allowed ;( on the outside patio. The staff was informative about the beers, provided samples upon request and the food was decent. I suggest this place mid week after happy hour and it will be enjoyable for your group.

  • Justin N.

Pretty cool place. 6 to 8 bucks for a beer. Kind of pricey but the alcohol content is like 8% .It just sucks paying $25 for 3-4 beers. But I guess the more expensive beers keeps it classy. Ive been here 2x since it opened bc I live next to it. I really like it.

    (5)
  • Chelsea S.

This place was way too crowded for my liking, pair that with a severe lack of seating and it made for an awkward experience. It was pretty cool that there was live music, however, most people in the bar couldn't see the band because of the poor stage placement. It is really a good place if you are looking for a specific craft beer. The bartender put blueberries in my Sea Dog Blueberry beer, I thought it was a little strange to garnish beer wiith blueberries, even a blueberry beer. I will probably come back on a weeknight to better enjoy their beer selection.

Waitress asked to take my order I ordered a beer then she told me I couldn't get my beer til I provided a card to start a tab. My husband ordered food which came quickly although there was an altercation in the parking lot involving a man with a gun. My husband then tried to order a beer it took 5 minutes for her to come back and tell us they were out then he picked another they were also out of that one, he picked a third beer and after 20 minutes still had seen nothing of the beer. The waitress didn't even check in until that point where she had an excuse that the bar wasn't making the drink or bring them out like they were supposed to and then she informed him they were also out of his third choice. He made another fourth choice and now we are currently sitting and waiting/hoping to actually see this drink delivered. Never in my life have I seen such poor service from a place that thrives on Friday and Saturday night clientele.

Looks like a great place to try some new beers and grab a bite to eat but the food reminds me of something I'd find at an airport and the waitress never came around to ask if I wanted another beer. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I pride myself on knowing all the local watering holes in jville, so when someone mentioned there was a world of beer here, I was flabergasted that I hadn't heard of it! And right around the corner from my house no less. The name definitely does the place justice, there are SO MANY beers! Its overwelming! Thankfully, their wait staff is knowledgable and can walk you through the menu easily. The atmosphere was nicer than other sports bars in the area and WOB had plenty of TVs to make you feel like you were in a sports bar. Im giving it only 3 stars because its a little small, the cheapest beer is $3 and their food is overpriced. I might go there for one or two, but this isn't going to become my new hangout.

  • Loreena S.

The atmosphere at this bar was very chill. The crowd thick but the place was fun. They had a really loud band but if you move to the patio it's not bad. I saw people dressed up but most were in jeans and flip flops. Great place to go with a group of friends.

  • Sin A.

Every time I venture to WOB I receive horrible service. The bartenders seem like they just don't care if you're there. This last visit will no doubt be the last time I walk in the WOB. The guy that waited on my after my friend received a beer and I waited an additional 15 minutes to get someone's attention, kept my change. I purchased a glass of Chimay red gave him 2 fives (which one he dropped then picked up so he knew it was 2 fives) and never returned. Very disappointed. I'll spend my money elsewhere. Sorry WOB.

Great atmosphere to just go and hang out. They usually have live bands and make a great selection! All employees exhibit knowledgable skills in all types of beers and have recommended great choices! I always have a great time and always bring friends that come to visit here!

  • John S.

The atmosphere here is pretty laid back, so it's a good place to relax with friends and have a few beers. It gets pretty crowded, so you may have trouble finding somewhere to sit. If you're a smoker and hate having to leave your table to smoke, don't fret- they have tables outside... And the best part about that is the tables are outside, but still covered, so if it's raining the elements can't get to you!! The bartenders are nice and attentive... I hardly had to wait for my beers, which is surprising considering how busy the place was!! I haven't tried any of the food yet, but I hear it's pretty tasty, so I'll definitely have to try it in a future visit!!

Walked into WOB on a trivia night and it was packed. Lots of people enjoying beers and having a good ol' time. Can't complain. I enjoyed the Brooklyn craft beer from New York and it was delicious. I love that they pour it in a fancy little glass, but it just seems like a lot of money for such a small serving, but it packed a punch and I had a great buzz going on from it. Frankly, it's just an average bar with lots of craft beers and I don't find it to be that exciting, but if you're a beer aficionado then this is a place where you can try to enjoy different beers that are listed all around you. MY bartender was good and attentive, and he was really nice. Loved his Hilfiger glasses!!! I do intend to make it back for food and more drinks, but it is definitely a place to go let loose with friends when you get a chance.

Nice crowd for a Friday night. People hanging around the bar watching one of the many basketball games on the screens. Others stand around while a band plays to anyone who will listen. We find a comfortable booth that fits our party and gives me perfect view of the whole place. Nice friendly server greets us and takes our drink orders. Several of us were here for the first time and she pleasantly gave great recommendations, extremely knowledgeable. But checking the menu all items are listed with recommended drinks. Started the table off with a huge soft pretzel and mustard and everyone put in their draft orders. Dirty Bastard is as hard as it sounds - the sucker is strong and not for the faint of heart. Framboise is light and fruity with a hint of raspberry and a disgusting smell. It tasted just okay but by the time I get half way down my glass there is just a repulsive smell. Hummus is delicious served with colorful ships and thick pita bread. I think there is some hot curry topped? Golden shrimp is a lot like bang bang shrimp and very good as well. Best appetizer had to be the pig wings. Not sure how to describe it. Cut thick ribs covered in sweet spicy bbq sauce with meat falling off the bone. With beers flowing, I wondered do they allow cigars? Never thought to ask. Another question I wanted, but didn't, ask - What's up with the uniforms? It looked like the girls just had to wear black t shirts with the logo, but a few in boy shorts, fishnets, and boots through me off? I was waiting for a Coyote Ugly type of thing to pop off. Couldn't tell they were servers when they were bent over the bar til they turned around. (shrug) Meet a great group of new people (and found some yelpers). Good drinks, food, sports, and live music... pretty good night.

It was very interesting to watch this place develop. When I worked around the corner, I was in this shop almost every day (sometimes twice) for my caffeine fix when it was a Stsrbucks. Now it serves my other favorite beverage: BEER! I've been in a few times and each time is a little bit better than the last, so that has to be a good thing, right? First time we literally walked in, saw the Chamber event going on, turned around and walked out. It was way too crazy to try to grab a brewski, so we just headed to our movie. The next couple of times I was there, both happened to be after another event I had been at and both happened to be on a Wednesday. Wednesday seems to be trivia night at WOB. Each time we've arrived, it's toward the end of the trivia event, so the bar clears out so we're able to grab a seat or two. Trivia night definitely happens to be a popular night for this establishment. My husband (who always meets us) happens to be the only one that I know that's actually eaten here, so I can't comment on the food. But the beer selection is great. They've got all the bases covered with ciders, ales, porters, stouts. With a wall of taps that rivals Engine 15, you really can't go wrong here.

Huge selection of beer plus they have all the local brews!!! The burgers n crab cakes r to die for

  • Chris M.

The name says it all! You will find more kinds of beer than you would expect to find! I will say, though, that the connoisseurs may not find anything and everything that their little heart's desire but that doesn't take away from the massive selection that DOES exist. The atmosphere is dynamic depending on when you go. If you go during football season it will probably be loud. If you go when they have live music then it will be loud. There are also times when it's really laid back and quiet. There are no reservations. You show up and seat yourself. One nice thing is you can bring your own food or you can order off their small menu of eats. I've brought Moe's (right next door to WoB) over to my table several times. The WoB card will keep track of all of the beers that you've had and there is some serious competition amongst several regulars. You also receive prizes for various milestones that you reach. Service can be spotty sometimes but it should be expected when you have such a large crowd that WoB tends to get.

WOB is a cool place. It has a crazy huge selection of beer....both in bottle from around the world, and around the US, but also a bunch on tap. The night we went was trivia night. It was very crowded and very loud. It was difficult to talk with the others at our table. The trivia game hosted by Craig Kukla was a lot of fun. 25 teams were playing... which explains the crowds. Makes for a good competitive, fun night. I ordered the Cuban sandwich. It took 45 minutes to get. And it was tiny small, really very thin, with a whole lot of potato chips. Not worth the $7 bucks they charge. My wife had a salad which she enjoyed. Service was "ok"... I think they were a little short staffed for such a large crowd. I will give this place another try. Hopefully I can find another star or two to throw their way next time. I think I NEED to try one of those crazy huge pretzels they sell!!! They looked awesome.

Thank you sooooo much for the amazing customer service you all provided my boyfriend and I last night. The staff was wonderful, knowledgeable, and very friendly. We had a really good time and will be back! Thank you so much! :)

Heads up because I'm about to make a snap generalization: people with mustaches know more about craft beer. I can't even grow a mustache, but I imagine if I did that my already distinguished palate would develop into an extra sense. A lot of people complain about the service, and unknowledgeable staff. While I have had some clueless waiters, there are a few serious beer geeks that work behind the bar, just look for the mustaches. The girls in fishnet stockings are compensating. I prefer to call this place Beer World. Feels more like an amusement park that way. Beer world is everything it promises to be. It's a smallish bar, with a pretty awesome draft list right in front of Tinseltown. They have live music some nights, and banging loud music the other nights. The prices are about what I'd expect to pay for craft beers that are carefully scrawled out on a chalk board ($5ish). They do a good job of rotating out styles to match what's in season. For example, they have a pretty solid selection of stouts right now in the winter that replaced a more IPA heavy list they had earlier in the year. It doesn't matter what night I go, but the crowd always looks like they just got off work. Not really dressed up like some of the town center bars, but also not really as sloppy as other parts of town. A fair amount of douches. Beer world!

Now I know this is a chain, but it's my first time here, and I only had beer so this will be based on beer, atmosphere, crowd and service! First off this place had a TON of beer! All over the world so you will def have your beer thirst quenched! The atmosphere here is pretty cool and lively, now I'm from NYC so I know a crowd when I see one, so this had a pretty decent turnout. They have a live bad that plays some pretty cool music with some throw back jams, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful! So that said if I find myself in jax again I'd def love to revisit here

Beer, did you say beer? And an entire world of beer? You know I had to check this place out. So we ventured out after one of our Elite parties, for an after the party party. Wow, what incredibly awesome selection... from local breweries, to some of my tried and true favorites, this chick put on her glasses to check out what was on tap on the chalk board of numerous selections. I can't remember my exact selection that night, but I'm sure I enjoyed it. :) As for the space.... totally dig the garage door that opens the space to all of Tinseltown. It was a bit chilly on this particular night, so some heaters would have made me a super-happy-camper, but alas, my orange-juice blood runs thin, so I couldn't take off my jacket without a serious case of goosebumps. They have transformed this previous Starbucks location into something pretty great. (If not coffee, then beer, right?) As for the crowd that was there on this particular week night, if I had to pick one word to describe it, it would be "Southside." It does get pretty loud in here, as others have mentioned, but I really feel WOB is a perfect Southside addition. It just fits. I will definitely be back to check out a few more brews, but might hold off for some warmer weather.... I can see this place rockin' during balmy Florida nights. I didn't try any of the food here.... but a friend ordered some nachos that looked delish. Next visit. :)

This is fun on the weekends. The live music is fun. The food is okay. Nice local place for a night out.

"World of Beer"......a misleading name for an establishment that doesn't really have beer/spirits from all over the world. Anyways that's not my problem as I don't own the place, but I must say for having just spent 8 days/7 nights on the largest cruise ship(currently Royal Caribbean International- Oasis of the seas), World of Beer was very loud in comparison! Not in a good way either, if I could handle 8 days and 7 nights on the same ship with more then 6,000 other guests all partying until they were falling all over the place, then I'm pretty sure that World of Beer has a sound problem going on. I was expecting a bigger selection of beer, wine, and spirits. I'm pretty sure that the migraine that I'm leaving with is from the volume of the blaring music that was so loud that I could barely here anything that we were talking about. I will most likely try this place again, just not right after a cruise!

"Welcome to the World of Beer! " "Thanks, what brown ales do you have on drought?" "Uhhhh.... What?" You gotta be kidding me. You work at a place called World of Beer and you can't name a brown ale. They say first impressions are everything, and well, that was mine. Fortunately there were some competent bartenders that made some good recommendations, like the Cigar City brown ale that I had never tried. COME ON MAN! Step your game up. This encounter coupled with a band that couldn't quit drawing feedback from the speakers left a bitter taste in my mouth, and I didn't even have an IPA. I think this location has potential. It's got a cool open air setting with plenty of TVs to watch a game on. I saw the server's bringing out this humongous pretzel hanging from a stand that looked pretty good. I'll probably give it another shot one day. They're still a bit new so I'll cut them some slack. 3/5.

My hat is off to The World of Beer for creating a interesting beer-centric place that is decorated and outfitted with an essential A to Z mix of beer in taps/ bottles/cans, televisions, and a mix of seating options that almost anyone would feel comfortable in. I liked the broad menu with the easy things to find and eat, regardless of how conscious (or not) one was in a crowded beer bar. In the good company friends , I liked the friendly assistance of the bartenders who made quick use of the bar taps and offered tabs immediately. As a beer place, The World of Beer really seems to have it all on the surface, but I think it has some glaring drawbacks, which could easily be fixed to make the place even better. Several people have mentioned them before, but experiencing it first put my experience in restaurant management to work. Summoning the spirits of past great experiences from other beer venues that I have visited in the USA, such as Monk's in Philadelphia, the Gingerman and Blind Tiger in NYC, Kickbacks in Jacksonville, and The Museum Tavern in London....no burning sacrifices needed today... 1. The acoustics need help..badly. I found I couldn't talk to my friends without shouting or texting. To capitalize on the bad sound conditions, there was a band on the podium above the right section of the bar. Noise in layers, like it was a 24 track mixing board! Proposed fix: more wood paneling, heavy curtains in door ways, and acoustic paneling in the faux drop-ceiing. Forget the band, except for special events. 2. The pricing menu needs adjustment. The tap prices were ok (since I am from NY), but they were at least 25-30% higher than the rest of JAX for the same thing. The bottle pricing I experienced...a 22oz bottle of Southern Tier Pumking for $15? It's a seasonal beer and one of the better pumpkin beers, besides DFH Punkin, but it retails for $6.99 and wholesales for $3.50-4.00.. Proposed fix: adjust pricing structure for all items to realistic levels, focus on the taps then highlight seasonal beers through the serving sales team and menu inserts. While my list could go, I don't own the place, though it's the same standard I apply every where: what is the place doing well, what do I like, and what would I alter... I will revisit the World of Beer in the future with friends to see games and taste more of the beers...

Wow. . It's all in the name! A World of Beer. Bar/Pub with a few food items that are not found in your typical watering hole. Knowledgeable staff and very helpful in finding the right beer that was capdable with my burger. Tried to test our waitress but she was on it. She knew the beers, their country and alcohol content and even provided us with samples. Great place to socialize with friends and let your taste buds be brought to attention with all the great suds.

Much smaller wob than what I'm used to. Also the service seems to be lacking when compared to other wobs, or even other craft beer joints. Not sure if it is the location, or the environment, but overall this wob feels like a huge letdown.

World of Beer has an impressive, rotating beer list - both on tap and in bottles. I was very amazed at the great bar and staff. The bartender, Kyle, took care of us. Will be back because they are set up to succeed and win many fans.

I knew going in it was chain place. Its new. It a corner bar like in a garage or something. This review will be one and done. I had to go because Founder's brewing was having its Founder's and Florida day event.. Not that you know it walking in. The entrance is 2 large garage doors after you go through a outside patio bar area. Its like old school Florida. its very beach like in a way. Me I disliked it for many reasons. One; what a waste of A/C... also the smoke once it got more crowded did drift back in, as that is where the AC inlets are!!!!! bad design IMHO. anyway all that said if you go during the lull, when things slow down, the craft beer selection is frankly second to NONE in town. i did not see any Bud or Miller or Coors. Sure they had Blue moon. I know its a Coor's product. Still it was NOT a lite beer hangout. The good, the bars chairs were the best in town. Nice and big and with padded backs! you can even sit in them for a few hours and not have dead legs. Beer was fresh. we were sitting at the bar. I for one when sitting at the bar, that just has beer and wine. I expect the service to be perfect, and its beer and wine only if the service is not perfect then something is very wrong. So we had no issues service wise. Though the bar was near full. While the place was crowded it was NOT packed yet! We knew 4:30pm and on it as going to get worse. We never had to wait for a new beer, still is was not 5pm yet. The food we had was good, a tad pricey and small amount for that price, but did the trick. Limited bar menu, but hey you just want to eat enough to not get hammered. The bad, I truly hate the place for its turnover of wait staff. That was done very badly. wanting you to close out. and then they did what ruins the place or any place for me. THEY CRANK THE FRIGGING MUSIC UP to 120DB. WTF is up with that? NO 1 could hear to ever order......we left. Was not happy to be forced to close out he ticket and then the butt head lost it. Scary.... Well never be back but I was impressed with the bottle selection UNTIL I saw the prices! Still its in the gate parkway area that is up and coming for the east side of Jax. Well TBH I can never say never, because after the new wears off and its in the after lunch lull, it MIGHT we a decent place to hang in the winter time.

Went here for Trivia Night last night and it was awesome! The atmosphere was great, my huge pretzel was amazing, and there are so many types of beer. The only downsides are that parking kind of sucks and they allow smoking in the patio section (sorry!!!) I would definitely come here again :)
