Came here for lunch take-out & I wasn't expecting much. Expectations were met, this joint is "A-OK". Service: Staff is friendly, but I wouldn't try speaking Japanese to them because hah, guess what, they're not Japanese. Almost positive that they're Chinese, but haay I could be mistaken. There's nothing wrong with owning, working, & running a Japanese restaurant if you're not Japanese, but the food should reflect the cuisine you're representing. If it's fusion, y'all should say, "FUSION JAPANESE" or something of the like. The waitress/hostess totally fat shamed me though when I ordered 3 rolls for take out. "Is this all for you? *laughs* It's a lot of food for lunch for one person." Pardonne moi!?! What if I'm a 5'4" woman with a less than average BMI who wants to eat 3 rolls for lunch? I certainly didn't ask her when the last time she made an appointment with a dentist was, don't insult my appetite! What if I was preggers & in denial?? Feedin' for two, sweetie. I'm being melodramatic--I'm not pregnant--but there are certainly a lot of women out there who are really conscious of their weight, some may even be suffering from an eating disorder, so the question is something the waitress/hostess should be discouraged from asking in the future. I didn't eat all 3 rolls, one was for Josh G., but the point is: no fat shaming is appreciated. Prices: There are a lot of rolls that are under $8 which is such a steal. The specialty rolls are a little bit more from $9-12. They have great deals on lunch specials. Their chirashi bowl is about $16.95, but I didn't want to risk it since I was kind of skeptical. Food: Ordered the volcano roll, eel roll, & the Aven roll. You can't really mess up an eel roll, so I'd say out of the 3 rolls, that was the best tasting. I can't believe it, but I actually make better sushi than this place. Their volcano roll was a mound of fake crabmeat with masago & a tablespoon of cut up scallops. Much disappoint. Such tummy ache. Wow. The Aven roll is just an eel roll with mixed raw fish on top, which is okay. The fish doesn't look nor taste very fresh. The take-out came with two soy sauce containers & some mayo Sriracha dip thing that is 50 shades of no bueno. I need to stop taking a chance on these Americanized rolls & just stick to the sashimi or chirashi. If you can't taste the fish or enjoy it, what's the point of eating sushi? Also, this restaurant does not actually have real wasabi, which is a bit ironic as their restaurant is called Wasabi. Wasabi powder/paste =/= real grounded wasabi root. Environment: Large restaurant with some Japanese decor. Sushi bar in the back & tacky checkered tiles on the floor. Needs a major revamp & an ingredients overhaul. This place has free delivery! Wasabi will suffice if you're craving for sub-par cheap sushi, but it will be a huge disappointment if you want something fresh & authentic.

I wouldn't say this is the BEST Japanese in town, but they DO deliver, and I'm a big fan of that! When I lived out at the beach we ordered Wasabi almost once a week. Their hibachi lunch specials are very well-priced, especially if you just get veggie like me. They also have satisfying sushi, ginger salads, and miso. I absolutely LOVE their Tuna Tataki appetizer though and would sometimes order two just so I could munch on one throughout the week. The last time I ordered delivery from Wasabi, all the streets at the beach were flooding from one of the big summer storms, but the guy still made it to my door quick and with a great attitude. Needless to say, he got a big tip! :)

clean, quiet, cool little spot in the shopping center at the corner of Atlantic and San Pablo. Primarily sushi, they have the usual fare of sushi and sashimi. They get creative on some of their rolls. The sashimi is a little thicker chunks than one would expect. Miso soup was good. Appetizer size of vegetable tempura is a good way to go to get your vegetable on and share with your dinner date. Reasonably priced. Attentive service.

Lunch specials are a great deal. The sushi is good, not the best I have ever had. Downside was it took forever, I ordered 2 sushi rolls to go and it took a little over 20 minutes and the place was empty.

MI have been coming here for sushi for more years than I care to think about it (at least 10 I'd say). The service is always friendly and almost always prompt (if not its when they're swamped). They do a good deal of take out orders so looks can be deceiving. I've been in there where we were one of two tables dining in, but the phone was ringing off the hook with orders so do not be too quick to judge if things take a moment. The food has always been top notch as well. I recommend the "Spicy Girl" roll. Its one of our favorites!

I've ordered delivery several times. The food has always arrived timely and tasted great. Never a problem with the order.

I tried Wasabi for lunch with friends a few weeks ago and thought it was pretty average. My thoughts on sushi in the Jax area are spelled out in detail in my recent Ginza review, so there's no need to repeat them here. Let's just say the rolls had way too much rice and not nearly enough goodies in the center. The construction wasn't so hot, either. I'm not a sushi snob or an expert but I like a roll to stay intact. The miso soup and salad were fine. That's not what I went for though. I thought Wasabi was on par with Chizu, but to me, that's not saying much. Yo Sushi and Ginza are better in my opinion. Bottom line is I'm still searching for a sushi place to call home ... and I'm in no hurry to revisit Wasabi, or recommend it if you're looking for top-notch sushi.

This is my go to place for sushi delivery! No where else in Jacksonville delivers sushi unless you are doing grub hub which is too pricey, so they are smart to do this! Most of the time the delivery is an hour with max of an hour and a half on busy nights, and lunch delivery about 30 min at best. I generally get an array of sushi and sometimes the shrimp teriyaki dinner. My go to is the salmon sashimi which is always so fresh and tasty. I also like the spicy scallop handroll. My favorite cooked rolls are the dynamite, midnight fantasy, and most of all the sushi ta ta! The bamboo roll and spicy salmon are my fave uncooked rolls. Its worth the order and wait for sushi delivery....so much better than pizza or Chinese if you are ordering in!

Just no. It's hard for me to feel this strongly about a restaurant I have tried once. Here goes: My daughter and I walked in and there are approximately 4 customers. Two men working the sushi line, and a lady running the register. We are greeted by an approximate 12 year old, along with his 8-9 year old brother, I am assuming. I looked around because I thought for sure this couldn't be happening, but whatever. We sat down. The 8 year old asks us what we want to drink. The 8 year old. We both tell him water and we are given half cups of water. For real. I still can't believe we didn't leave. The 12 year old takes our order. We received our food about 10-15 min later. We try to ask for refills on our water, but they kids are playing tag. Yeah, I'm really not kidding. The food was terrible (the 8 year old probably cooked it), and even though I never mentioned anything to the lady at the register while I paid, she was extremely rude. Do yourself a favor, have your kid just cook for you at home.

So I just came for the first time to wasabi sushi and grill and my experience to say the least was quite amazing I cook professionally myself the food was pretty good and the service was great normally quite picky about Japanese food in restaurants but this place doesn't do bad the prices are great and the best part is seven year old took my drink order it was absolutely one heck of a different experience in a good way had the clear soup the salad with the ginger dressing the sticky rice the grilled chicken teriyaki and the Philadelphia sushi roll and they added shrimp to it for me this is how mom and pop local business should be done

The (I'm assuming) store owner was a delight. He was so attentive to my husband and I! My husband had never had raw sushi before and the owner could clearly tell that my husband was reluctant to try it, and came over to ask if he would like something else in exchange if he didn't enjoy the raw sushi. Just the fact that he took the time to make hum feel comfortable and enjoy his meal was enough for my husband to finally try some! It's rare that you find a restaurant that will get you something else if you don't like what you originally ordered. The hospitality, friendliness, and overall atmosphere were above expectations. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. I will be going back as soon as I can!!!

It was my husband's birthday...so I thought to pick up some Japanese cuisine and have a good romantic dinner at home. I spent $40 and got the gambit..miso Soup, salads with ginger dressing, steamed dumplings, a sushi roll and two chicken dinners with veggies and rice. What we got was old chicken, stale rice, Funny tasting sushi, leaking condiments and upset tummies!! Don't waste your money or the possibility of having a romantic night ruined because of overactive bowels!! Buyers beware!!

Their lunch special is awesome. Three roles + salad and soup for under $10! It is always made fresh and taste great. My favorite are the crunchy and spicy tuna rolls. It is family-owned. The service is always great and the owner is the nicest man ever! I've also gotten delivery and it was very fast service. I love to go there for lunch or get take out. If I have a craving for sushi, that's the place I go to!

Have been back to Wasabi a couple times this month and I tell ya, the food is the same as ever. GOOD. Service is still good, the decor hasn't changed a bit! These are all good things! It means they survived the recession and the locals support them. A girl can never have too many places to go for good food and she doesn't have to wear make-up!! The kids are still there too, one of them was literally pulling his little brother out the door by the collar of his shirt!! I couldn't help but LOL! Try them if you haven't.

Hey. We found a special place to add to our "do not enjoy" list. Because we definitely did not enjoy it. Sure it was sushi AND take out. So probably not a good idea anyways, but all the ingredients for our sushi were sitting around for atleast an hour. And it showed. Rice was hard, tempura was stale, fish was a tad mushy.... sounds like a recipe for deliciousness, eh? We had takeout sushi from here before and it was decent, but this.... was redonculous..... our vote for "yucky sushi" w a double thumbs down.

My SO had been here for lunch a few times and liked it so we tried it for dinner. What a disaster. First I should put up a disclaimer that I go to Japanese restaurants primarily for things other than sushi. The restaurant was probably half full when we arrived, and the waitress' two small children were taking up one table, keeping relatively quiet. We ordered steamed Gyoza for an appetizer and Salmon Hibachi and the Yakitori dinner. First to arrive was the salads, first his, then belatedly mine. Basic lettuce with ginger dressing. Our entrees were stated to come with Miso soup but it never appeared. Then the Gyoza, which clearly showed signs of freezer burn around the edges. Edible, but no better than what I could pick up from the Asian market. Then they brought out the Salmon Hibachi, which had been grilled and was the high point of the meal. The Yakitori did not appear for at least another 15 minutes. It was clear the two waitresses were overwhelmed at this point, as the phone was ringing off the hook, one ran to the market next door for a 2L bottle of soda, and other patrons were trying to get their attention. I think one of them was doubling as the cook in the back. When the Yakitori finally came, it was skewers of chicken that has been some combination of pan sauteed and microwaved. They clearly had not seen the grill at all. Exceedingly poor. They may be ok for Sushi at lunch, but the dinner service was overwhelmingly bad from both a food and a service standpoint. We won't be back.

I think their sushi is great, especially for a hole-in-the-strip-mall place around the corner. They're quick to make it and it always tastes fresh. Plus, the price is right. The atmosphere inside leaves a bit to be desired, so we usually get it to go.

The staff was nice, friendly and service time was fine but the food left a lot to be desired. My family did like the miso soup, fried rice and noodles. As far as the sushi, the tuna and salmon were barely edible- warm and mushy, nowhere close to fresh. This place is priced low end for sushi and that is seen in the quality of the seafood used. I agree with a previous poster that they also use more rice and less of the good stuff on their rolls. This is very unfortunate as I was hopeful to have a good place close by. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Been coming here since before I left for boot camp. And I still love it. It's not the best sushi that I've ever had but it's better than regular places. I highly recommend it!!!!!

I have eaten sushi all over Jax and this is one of my favorite places. The soup is good the ginger dressing for the salad is probably my favorite in Jacksonville. Then of course the rolls are also really good. I know this place does not look like much and they do not always open at the time stated but if you like sushi definitely stop by and grab a bite. Don't forget they have a great lunch special and the large specialty rolls listed on the wall
