I had a waffle with ham and hash browns smothered and capped. The waffle was slightly underdone, and the onions were practically raw, other than that it was very good. It's home style good southern style diner cooked food. Place isn't always the cleanest and the menus tend to be sticky but hey... It's Waffle House and comfort food for me. It's not gourmet and very inexpensive but it's the best after the club or I'm drunk hangover food and you get the bang for your buck. But hands down still my favorite place to go for waffles. Their breakfast menu is my favorite. Granted I've ordered their lunch foods but at Waffle House breakfasts is the way to go. There's no Waffle House on the west coast so for anyone visiting the south.. I do say it's a must and part of the southern living experience to go eat at your all American diner Waffle House! And the food comes quick! And I love to watch them shout out the orders and watch your food get cooked. You know you grubbing on southern diner food when you eating Waffle House at 3am I love it. So why does it get 3 stars even if I love the place... Coz I can't rightfully give he place 4 or 5 stars because it's kinda dirty sometimes and tables and menus are rather sticky and the bathroom is hideous. But hey the food is good

It's no secret. I love waffle house! This location is really good and most importantly, CLEAN. I haven't had any issues. Food is always made to order and the staff is nice and friendly. They really go out of their way to make sure everything comes out perfect. I always enjoy my trip to this location.

For a breakfast place with the unhappy nick name of the "awful waffle", I can attest that it does not live up to its name as this busy restaurant seems to be meeting the needs of the people attending it. In attending this place with friends, I found the basics to be covered and special requests honored, despite the hectic atmosphere which might scare some restaurant veterans. I think going here is a case of expectations, as a previous reviewer noted: it is an average diner with a specialty in breakfast and maybe lunch.

I mean, this location was ok. And I stress ok. The employees mean well yet they get distracted sometimes. The cook makes excellent food yet seems to have a cloud over his head whenever he gets an order in, the servers are energetic yet if you want to mention anything about your order or cash out, they are on the other side of the building chatting it up with customers. Yet I was hungry and came here for the food, of which I received in a reasonable fashion. I would really give this location a 3.5 or borderline 4, yet I thought that this was just ok. I would give it another try, sure.

Giving Waffle House the same rating as 13 Gypsies? Well yes - assuming you know the kind of place you're going to. An iconic - southern (IMO) breakfast oriented dining chain. So iconic that one day a fair number of years ago - we showed up one Sunday. And the place was out of everything!!! Seems the New York Giants were playing the Jaguars that day - and had voted to have breakfast at this Waffle House location. You put a whole NFL team on a bus - have it descend on a Waffle House without notice - and - voila - just about every scrap of food in the restaurant disappears. FWIW - this review might have been 3 stars instead of 4. But we ate there yesterday - and the waffle was really terrific (very hot and brown and crispy - sometimes it's cool and tan and droopy - although the rest of our meals are usually consistently good or better). We also eat sometimes at the JAX Beach and the I95/210 locations - depending on where we're headed on any given day. I usually have the All Star breakfast. I highly recommend it (although it's about twice as much food as I can eat). My husband enjoys the omelets - which are whipped up in a blender and always fluffy and tender. Service is almost always excellent and friendly. Tip appropriately (which is to say more than the standard % you would at a more expensive restaurant). Robyn

It's Waffle House so don't expect gourmet meals and you'll enjoy it. The new peach waffle is worth a try, it has peaches in the batter and also comes with peach syrup on top. Get a side of hash browns with all the "fixins" and you'll know why Waffle House is a southern icon. The service is VERY friendly. I ended up talking Noles and Packers football with the cooks and servers. I enjoyed my visit and will be back next time I'm in town.

I will say that this location was your typical Waffle House and you'll know what I mean. Thanks for reading and keep it moving. But if you've never been to a Waffle House, at all, like, ever. Please continue reading. Waffle Houses, nationwide, have, for some reason, developed this stigma as being the too-country, rednecky, poor white trash version of your Bob Evans or Denny's. Perhaps it developed this image because, no matter which location you're at, the food is always greasy and deep fried and oily and smothered in calories. Perhaps it developed this image because the wait staff refers to every customer (10-year regular or transplant from New York City like myself) as "honey" or "sug" "sweetheart" or "darling" or "pumpkin." It's the Southern charm with runny scrambled eggs and too-burned toast. This particular Jacksonville location is no different. Greasy breakfast food that, depending on who you are, is either the nectar of God or disgusting filth.

We absolutely LOVED this place! The menu is limited but it results in a well trained staff which owns the menu. Organized chaos is the only way I can describe the working at the grill. It was truly a well oiled machine; everybody working together as a team, assisting other members when they had a second to spare. AND the food was very good, even the hash browns were actually brown. Our waitress was outstandingly attentive even while assisting with dishwashing when she had a second to spare. The restaurant and bathroom were clean. Such wonderful, happy energy. What a wonderful way to start my day.

This place had no class. The district mgr was there and was cross contaminating all plates. He did not have.gloves on. His cooks were touching everything be touched. He kept putting his hands in his hair and licking his thumb to get orders out. How gross. Do not waste your time here. I only gave this 1star because there is n o negative.

Waffle is great every where you go. I can't remember ever having bad food at any. But there service can make to break it. And here the service is unbelievably good. First the guys here are sweet, cute, and funny. I love seeing men in the kitchen. There's normally about 8 people here and all the guys seem to be doing the cooking. While they cook they have very entertaining "men talk". Looking around the room you just see other guys nodding their heads and women smiling.
