I stumbled upon Tokyo Sushi when I hit up Yelp one day to find me a joint near my house to tackle one of my random intense sushi cravings. Now...yes, I eat alot (think metric tons, not pounds) of sushi...but I'm "one of those" that pretty much orders the same items from place to place, so I'm not gonna throw a review out for somewhere unless I feel that either 1. you absolutely need to try it or 2. AVOID AVOID AVOID. Atmosphere: Now...although the name DOES say "sushi and grill," this isn't one of those joints where the chef is flipping eggs into his hat or making volcanos out of onion stacks. It's a small, bare bones joint thats not shooting to be a tourist attraction, so basically think sushi and hibachi without all the "cheese." Food: Let me start by saying that theres lumpia on the menu. YASSSS BOO. Lumpia. For those of you that have yet to dive into the life-changing experience called a lumpia, I guess it could best be described as a "filipino eggroll." If you show up to ANY party or gathering with a pan of lumpia in hand...you are immediately crowned a culinary God, and swarmed by a mob of eager fans. The lumpia here is...shockingly pretty delish! Nice crispy texture on the outside, with a good amount of tasty meaty filling, and a heavenly dipping sauce. The meat could have used just a tad more seasoning, but overall it was a hit. My sweet potato roll was perfectly prepared, with just the right amount of sweetness and crunch in every delectable bite. Chicken tempura roll also did not disappoint and paired so well with the scrumptious shrimp sauce. I'll be coming here at least once a week to pay homage to my love for great sushi. The service is always on point, drinks refilled regularly and never a long wait for the food to hit the table. I highly recommend that you give Tokyo Sushi and Grill a try, and most of all...It's so great to once again be back on the Yelp radar!

Extreme mixed thoughts about this place. This has always been a regular for us, the food is great... BUT... Tonight's experience was terrible. Walked in at 10:25 and we already know they close at 11pm. Just wanted to order and quickly eat. Suddenly 5 employees surround the table and we are advised "we close in 30 minutes", so we say is it okay to order? She replied with "well we close in 30-min"... Okay so what are you saying? They could never answer is we were able to order or not and continued to hover at the table. We just decided after it being extremely strange and uncomfortable to leave.

Tokyo sushi and grill was always my family and I usual spot. Now it's under new owner ship. Food doesn't taste the same. New server doesn't speak proper English. I always feel rushed when I'm eating. Very disappointing.

I came into grab some sushi to go. It was 5:45 PM yet the place was more than halfway full. There were several staff waiting by the door as I came in and they were all quite friendly. I said at the sushi bar to place my order and while I waited I enjoyed a clear broth soup. It was excellent. Everything was clean and pleasant inside. I ordered mostly vegetarian sushi and rolls and it came out nicely. We also got the vegetable tempura and that was Crispy and lightly battered. The shrimp sauce is probably the best shrimp sauce I have ever had. I had only been here one time previously with a large group of people and we were accommodated that time very nicely as well. I would come back here again in a heartbeat.

The terriyaki chicken and steak is good here but the Sushi seems A little tired the service was good but hard to communicate with the lady, as Chinese seemed to be her first and best language option..are there any Japanese Sushi steak houses that are actually staffed by Japanese people in Jax Ive seen 2 and they are both closed??? HMM
