Hubby and I decided to try teppan (in front of the table) for a late lunch. First of all, there was a 'bathroom sink' in the middle of the far wall where we sat. It seemed to be an odd place for a sink that looked like it should belong in a bathroom. Our waiter was very attentive so can't complain about service. Our chef, on the other hand, must've had a horrible cold. A few times, he stepped back to cough -- he did move away from the food and covered his mouth with his sleeve. But he kept 'snorting/sucking up snot' the rest of the time b/c his nose was running. We weren't sure if we wanted to eat anything he cooked! We did stay to peck at our food and left without finishing. Although food was served hot, green tea was never refreshed and was never hot. Food was served in small portions. My overall satisfaction: 2 stars.

We have always enjoyed this place. Mostly for sushi lunches but dinners are good as well! Would definitely recommend!

We decided to try this place after being in the area for 6 years. Outside looked promising. Inside? First indication that all was not well was the arcade game in the lobby. And so it went downhill from there -rapidly. Fried rice was Not. It was just boiled with maybe 2 tiny something's which might have been egg. Don"t know. The combination plate of shrimp and scallops was barely warm. The only thing that was good was the warm Saki. That is pretty bad to say the drink is better than the actual food. The waitress did not understand English and when she asked what we thought about the meal and I replied that it left a lot to be desired, she nodded happily and trotted off. We will Never go back. The Hostess was into checking out the tattoos of the patrons and gushing over them.and there we are. We are amazed this place is still open, but then, when we saw who came in, we understood.

Absolutely delicious and family friendly. But for some pg 13 comedy on a kid free night ask for hung lo. Hes hilarious and the food is delicious, they know not to scrap the grill with their spatula and the food doesnt taste burnt.. :) And for DY's comment... the sink is for the waiters to use because it's a HIBACHI GRILL. Give people a break on elegance, and as for someones cold... DON'T Blame the establishment, This place is great and your family will have a good time. Just go!

This is a hibachi grill bar. I had sushi while the wife and friends enjoyed the hibachi grill. The cook (entertainment) acted bored as if he had done it all a 1000 times (and he probably had). The prep time theater was uninspiring with a baby onion volcano and the big flame up to start. Watching the cook I had the feeling he was just going through the motions waiting to punch the clock for the night. The sushi was okay. The slices were a bit small and not all that flavorful. The grill food was equally okay. The one standout was the fried rice. That was good. The rest of the experience was something I would pass on next time.

It's my first time ever going to this place but I wasn't disappointed. I got the two roll lunch special for $9 and some seaweed salad. I went with friends who all got sushi and it was all delicious. One of my friends got the squid salad and that was pretty yummy too. I was honestly pleasantly surprised and the quality and price! The only thing that I could say would make this place even a little better is the enthusiasm of the wait staff.

Quick, polite service, but the food was very bland. We ordered a philly roll, onion soup, salad with ginger dressing, and steak and shrimp cooked hibachi style at our table. The philly roll was extremely plain, salmon, cream cheese and rice. That's it. I was expecting a minimalist roll, but geez! The onion soup was very small and little more than a mushroom floating in onion broth. The salad was about the size of my fist and the bottom of my bowl was full of water. The lettuce wasn't very flavorful. The preparation of the hibachi was very...meh... The cook spun the egg and made a little volcano and basically seemed like he was uninterested in being at work tonight. The food was prepared quickly and is a good serving of steak, shrimp, rice, lo Mein and vegetables. Beyond that, the food was VERY bland. Every hibachi place I've eaten at before I rarely need or want to use the provided sauces, here I tried to drown my meal in them to no avail. The sauces were little more than colored mayonnaise and teriyaki sauce, blah! While I wouldn't say the food was horrible, it was edible, I'd never eat here again. For $60 there are too many other hibachi restaurants in this city to try. Great service, poor atmosphere, blah food...

Visited this place yesterday after three years of being away... Wow. Horrible, dirty, grimy... Has completely gone down hill. Food was ok flavor wise... But was just plopped on a plate, at $26.99, I expect little more.. Service was equally bad. Little Asian lady was definitely in a rush to get us in and out.... Just very disturbed with decline... I loved this place few years back.... It's just dirty ... Can't imagine what kitchen looks like if they maintain dining room in such poor condition... Never going back...

I've been to almost every hot table on this side of town, which I need to get around to reviewing but this restaurant is just okay. Nothing terrible but nothing great. We waited awhile just hoping more people might show up to fill our table. Finally 15 minutes later we welcomed two more people! Yay now we get to wait for them to have soup and salad tjat we finished ten minutes before. Our cook was not personable and that's important at a hot table I thought. Especially considering the price you pay! He was just going threw the motions and never even cracked a smile. The sauces where not good either and I love a good ginger and shrimp sauce. Sushi was just ok. There are many other places to have a good and FUN dinner around a hot table. I sure miss Chizu!

I have to say that I'm totally shocked at how good the food was here. I could care less about the hibachi "show" so I'm not even going to comment on that. This place has the best shrimp sauce that I have had since moving to Jacksonville!!!! That alone is worth coming here in my opinion. I had the fillet and it was cooked the way I asked for it and the rest of the food was also pretty good. My husband had the sushi and he said it was good, I think he was frightened by the random sink in the dining room. If you are looking for something high class and elegant this probably isn't your destination, but if you want some good food check it out!

Went for lunch. Good food and friendly staff. But our chef put way too much butter in our fried rice. I would still come back.

I was pleasantly surprised when I went into Tokyo for the first time. I was curious since I always see cars there but never really hear anyone ever talk about them. I stopped in on a Saturday night and went straight to the sushi bar. Man o man they had a lot to choose from (1 star earned there) and finally decided on the Passion Roll. I loved it (2 stars earned there)! I was also surprised to see that they have Hibachi tables as well. I noticed a take out menu on my way out and grabbed one to added to my collection at home thinking that since it's so close to my neighborhood I could easily call something in and come pick it up sometime, but I was even happier to find out that they also deliver (1 star earned for that), so the other night while sitting at home with nothing in the fridge calling my name, I decided to try my newest menu and ordered their Deluxe Sushi Dinner - 15 pieces and 1 spicy tuna roll w/soup or salad- and when it arrived quicker than what they quoted me time wise on the phone (1 star earned here as well) I was happy to see some fresh fish that was so so good. As you can see, I have reasons for giving 5 stars to Tokyo even though its not the newest or trendiest Japanese and sushi restaurant in town.....I think it's a diamond in the rough.

My favorite Japanese restaurant. We've been going here for years. Love the "Jimmy Smith" sushi roll. The Hitachi style cooking is entertaining and the food is always fresh. The atmosphere is cozy and have ample parking even when busy and packed inside. We went tonight for my son bday...after dinner ....music started playing a birthday tune, then the staff walking through the restaurant with gongs and symbols singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my football player size son was awesome!!! We had a great time as always.

Got lunch to go a few days ago and it was just very bland. The bottom of the container was all liquid, like the good was sitting in teriyaki or grease or a mixture or the two or something. Probably won't get this again.

I always love their sushi, and I like how they have some types of sushi rolls that many other sushi houses do not have.

Ok, I've read the reviews, and we decided to try this place for ourselves. We came here a year ago and weren't super impressed as well, but our experience was AMAZING this time. There's a new chef in town an his name is "Cowboy"! If you want your food cooked right, and have a total BLAST, ask for him by name. He's a great chef and a wild entertainer. He had us in stitches the whole time. Just one example...he has you light his fingers on fire to set the grill in flames. And it just gets better from there! He's only been there a week, and I hope he stays. Simply put, it's the beat hibachi chef I've ever seen.

Yuk! The food was awful, Mongolian BBQ at super china buffet is 10 times better. They put butter on everything, give me a break. Seaweed salad was a iceberg lettuce salad with some seaweed on top. Poor service, so-so chefs, plumbing backed up in the bathroom. Panda Express is better than this place, save your money!

When you see that the restaurant is in a newer center you think it will be nice inside...well it is not. Menu's are disgusting, a random sink in the middle of the wall and really could use a paint job. The food was what you would expect at a Hibachi place. It was good. The whole experience though, not so much. I will be going to Daruma's right up the road. They take pride in their business.

The food was delivered quickly, the prices were good, and the sushi tasted great. I'll definitely be eating here again.

Our favorite place for Sushi, a very large variety of rolls. Had the habachi grill twice and found it enjoyable.

The Outside: Cool looking "Tokyo" sign, we are expecting to see a fun crowd. The Inside: I knew at the second we stepped in that it would be horrible. 1st thing I see is a 1940s asylum like white bathroom sink with the plumbing sticking out, creepily placed among the hibachi grill tables. What am I about to witness here I'm wondering, will they sacrifice a guest to the Hibachi gods and wash their hands in the middle of the service? Maybe it is a bidet, should I proceed to relieve myself here? I wish I had taken a picture of it. My mind says get the hell out of here but my body follows the hostess to my fate, being seated next to the creepy sink, sticking out of the wall in its full glory. - The menus provided to us are broken down and oily - The hibachi grill is dented like someone hammered the air vents back in - The grill next to us has a rusted patch right in the middle - No chopstix, so much for the Japanese experience The Service: The chef for some reason is the one passing around the plates, frigging weird, like here is your plate and you can eat now. The waiter forgot to bring my girl's drink. The chef forgot to ask which sauce we would like to have and proceed to give us only the shrimp sauce, which has a beautiful yellow orange glow to it. My wife is motivating me to try a bite and as I am preparing myself mentally to do so and about to put my first bite in ...the chef drops a slice of my cooked filet on the greasy counter, kindly reminding me about the 5 seconds rule while scraping/forking it against the counter and puts it back on the grill... mixes it with the rest of the filet still cooking and finally dropping the whole contaminated meat on my plate. The Escape: I tried to provide my credit card to the waiter so that we could get out of there but he waved his hands to inform me that such futuristic payment process can't be done here and tell me to wait until the proper paper trail is delivered to me. 10 minutes later the bill arrived. I slid my card inside, probably within 1 second but the waiter would not be slowed down in his quest, 10 minute later my bill and credit card are finally taken and held hostage for an additional 10 minutes before I can sign and get out. Be mindful that the register was probably 10 steps away. I honestly thought they would never let us leave in this life. For the love of humanity don't go there.

First - the hibachi food was fine. Just as it should be. But seriously, this place is rough inside. Spray painted the ceiling tiles black, but didn't tape the walls (black overspray)? Weird sink in the dining area? The menus look like they were taken from the White Horse Tavern.

Very BAD service and lack of supervision...Friday waited one hour nine minutes from order to the time the chef arrived. First course not cooked as ordered and had to request our salads and the server forgot...asked to speak with Manager twice and never came to table...long time customer but will not go back

Decent hibachi restaurant. I enjoy the food here and eat here semi regularly because it is convenient to my house. The place is a little dark and dingy but the chefs and waitresses are very friendly and treat regulars like old friends.
