I've left a review for the other flats in 5 points so see that one if you want food reviews. This one is obviously the same, but the decor inside this one is much better. It's also a few months old being new to the northside. Thankfully the northside so needed this place up here. I hate taco bell and this is the best place to get tacos. Granted it's not very authentic mexican (american-mexican?), but that doesn't bother me. The management is very nice. They accidentally gave my order to another customer who for some reason decided to leave with it even though it wasn't what he ordered... anyways she gave me my order promptly, apologized, and gave me a $15 gift card to use. No big deal to me it happens and I wasn't in a hurry anyways. I frequent this spot a lot; so glad it's up here.

My first visit! The food here is great and I could not say enough nice things about the staff. They were so very friendly and helpful. They really made me feel very welcome. I tried the black bean and rice bowl. It was excellent! It was also very nice to sit outside on a covered porch and watch it rain.

I really love this place! I usually get the dos tacos. Their tacos are like homemade tacos but abetter because they are bigger! I love their queso but usually just get a small side so I don't eat a tub of it. The sauce bar is my jam! I love that they have so many varieties of hot sauces. Love the curry and the Vidalia peach...so good. They are always consistent and love up to my standards of fast casual and semi healthy!

I'm glad this was added to the Northside to enhance our lunchtime options!! It just opened to the place is crazy busy but the staff is super nice and is taking it in stride. Once it calms down it will definitely become part of our lunch rotation. Their food is fresh and you have lots of options as to what combinations you might want to try. Sometimes, with any Mexican place, you can get some stale chips - which happened on my last visit - but if you ask, they will bring you fresh. All in all a solid "fast" restaurant!

So... I'm from San Antonio, TX so I know good Tex-Mex food when I taste it. Me and a friend ate at Tijuana Flats a while back for lunch and the experience was just O.K. When we walked in I was impressed by the artwork on the walls!!! I love colorful restaurants! It was also pretty packed which is what I expected considering we went around lunch time. One thing that I absolutely LOVE is great customer service and that alone would be a reason for me to go back to this Tijuana Flats! The customer service that day was AMAZING!!! Everyone was so nice and attentive to our needs as consumers. So much so the hostess offered to bring me a drink while I waited in line!!! Whenever I go to a Mexican restaurant, I feel it a necessity to order chips and salsa. Wellll....it wasmajor disappointment. I was hoping the salsa had a lot more flavor. The chicken and barbacoa flautas made up for it a little. They came with rice and beans which were pretty average. The hot bar is awesome! It has a variety of sauces from mild to HOTT so everyone can be happy!!! My friend got the chicken chimichanga and said they loved it! It looked really good and I'm kind of upset that I didn't try it. Overall, Tijuana Flats was decent and I would go back if I were with a group of people and the consensus was Tijuana flats for the meal. Hopefully next time the salsa will be on point.

Was super hungry for some lunch and spotted this place. Walked in and was a bit confused on how it worked. Finally spotted a menu laying on a table. Got the regular burrito with chicken smothered in queso. Wasn't a fan of the queso it tasted like it came out of a can not freshly made. The hot bar with all the diffrent hot sauces was cool. I tried one with my chips and was very good. Burrito was good but not amazing. Got the chicken and bean and seemed like there was way more been then anything in the burrito. For burrito chips and drink it was little over 10 bucks so not horrible but probably try something diffrent next time I hit up this place.

Great taco special, whole wheat tortillas as well. Love the full sauce bar. I had the soft tacos with steak. Very filling. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. Love reading the ceiling tiles and the graphics on the wall are colorful. My nose is running from the habanero sauce and my 13yo tried the ghost sauce. She is still alive. LOL

I really want to love this place, ive been here 3 times now, its really needed here on the Northside..but I dont..Taco's are my favorite food, the ones here are bland and overpriced. The salsa taste like it came from a jar and the queso from a can. Staff is nice, but food is flavorless and boring. My hubby agrees. We need a good taco place over here!!

I love their flautas, I actually dream about and crave them. I cannot believe there are negative reviews. I love the atmosphere and the employees, they always make me feel welcome and like family.

My daughter keeps requesting this place so my wife took both her and I. This is the second time w have been to Tijuana Flats and both time the food has been wonderful. The price is good and you get plenty of food for it. The customer service was great and the girl keep checking on us as she walk out side to stay cool. I would recommended trying it and you would be happy with the place. The place is small and quaint with a nice atmosphere. The have many different sauces to try and most are tasteful. I am right in the middle of 4 and 5 stars so I went 4. Once again I like to thanks the staff for another wonderful visit.

I went to the Flats with an open mind cause I have been to others and well let's say they didn't do very well. Now this just opened up about 2 weeks ago. It seems to be doing well for now but you know how new restaurant do. I happened to hit it on Taco Tuesday so I got tacos. Now I just came off of Pepe's Hacienda so they had some stiff competition. I have to say they stacked up pretty well. I ordered beef tacos and they had a good amount of meat. The meat was even spiced fairly well to. Then to add some more good the tacos had the right amount of fixings to. I mean sour cream on the whole taco with lettuce that didn't fill the taco. Everything was in the right portion. They still serve raw jalapenos but I took it home where there is a bunch of home made pickled japs. I see a dim future for the taco bell about 2 blocks away.

Oh my goodness!!!! We tried this place for the first time today. We are new to the area from Nashville, TN. My husband and I both ordered the chicken chimichangas......they are so very DELICIOUS!!!! I am very picky and don't like to try new places.... I am so glad that he talked me into trying this place!! LOVE this place, it is now my favorite place to eat!!

I was in Jacksonville, FL for work and my co-workers and I came here for dinner. They have a variety of sauces ranging from mild to ridiculously hot!!!!! I had the chicken quesadillas, and they were ok. Wasn't a big fan of the food, but the workers were nice. The manager was very nice, he even comped us all a free beer. It's not authentic Mexican, so don't expect that. It's a nice place, I would probably come back and try something else on the menu.

This is not TEX- MEX food!!! I'm from Texas so I think, I kind of know what the food is supposed to look and taste like. This is a horrible misrepresentation of what Tex-Mex should be and I'm offended. Seriously...I ordered the "Pick Dos" where you get to pick two items on the menu. It was a great price...but like they say, you get what you pay for. I picked the steak burrito and the beef enchilada. The steak burrito was terrible. When you took a bite there was maybe 8-10 pieces of beef in the entire burrito. When you think Tex-Mex "steak" you think strips of meat but these were like little chunks of beef. Worse yet the meat was swimming...I mean totally drenched in that Old El Paso red can sauce you can buy at any grocery store. The second item I got was the beef enchilada. It was passable...if I ever had to eat there I would go with that option. I was really hoping this place would be great...and was sadly very dissapointed.

This place made me (literally) feel sick. That's not something to be overstated--food very rarely makes me feel sick. But the rare award goes to Tijuana Flats. The food was only lukewarm and tasted really bland. I should have known as soon as I took a bite. Anyway, this place kind of feels like a more family-friendly Hooters: every employee that you see is a young female with short shorts on. They have a lot of hot sauces, but that small redeeming quality can't rescue this restaurant.

Food at Tijuana Flats is always consistently fresh and delicious. I would drive across town to this particular location based solely on the outstanding customer service! Each time we go, we are met with friendly staff who go above and beyond to ensure a great experience.

Very slow service especially when compared to other tijuana flats locations I have been too. The food was not as good either. The staff is unattentive, I had to ask for something two times! Plus the guac was 50 shades of brown. Skip this place and hit the chipotle a block away for more consistent fast mexican food.

The service was excellent. We walkin in the hostess asked for drink order. Our food was delicious. The service was very fast. We had the two enchiladas with guacamole and chips. Can't say enough for the good service.

Im giving this place 4 stars for the yumminess of thier food but id really like to give them a 3 for their overall only because I ordered a 8$ Tijuana chimi and there was literally a table spoon of meat in the entire burrito.... I complained and the manager made me a new one and it was the best chimi ive ever had so either someone messed up on portions or they def need to review their portions against the price sadly we dont have these in vegas where we live but if I lived here wed def come back!

I usually don't leave reviews until I find something exceptionally great or exceptionally bad. But this was, eh ...so so. It was 'ok' from a food perspective but the service was outstanding.

Stopped here on our way to the airport. Food was excellent. They also serve alcohol, so that is a plus. We went later in the evening and it wasn't crowded and we ordered and received our food in about ten minutes. Service was good too. Would definitely stop here again!

I went for Lunch today and tried the Chimichanga. I eat these all the time at other Mexican restaurants, so I'm comparing what I know is good. As you can see in my picture it's well presented and gift wrapped. It was just ok, nothing really made it stand out. Yes it has a cool atmosphere. It's full service, so your servers are quickly filling your drinks and asking if they can bring you anything. If you pay cash, you leave a tip in the glass bowl by the cash register or on your credit card when you pay. I ordered the chicken chimichanga so they asked me if I wanted my chicken blackened or not. I asked which one do you prefer and she suggested the blackened chicken so I got that one. They ask if you want this and that on everything. The lunch price for this was around $7. I also got a diet coke. The bill rang up $12. If I knew I was paying for extra items, I would have declined, but they don't tell you that's extra. I would give it a 3 star but when I paid $12 and I was never told I'm paying extra, I'm giving them a 2 star. The servers are very friendly and as one other review said, it gets pretty crowded. I was sitting by the door and the line was behind me going out the door. The server was constantly saying excuse me because she was trying to get around my chair. Final recommendation: Ask if you're paying extra for those items their trying to upcharge you.

Tijuana flats, it's a decent joint if you want a decent taco. I don't recommend it if you are craving for more of the authentic Mexican style meal. Tijuana Flats is more of the southwestern type of deal fast food restaurant. Overall, it's not bad. On tuesdays they have a $4.99 special for two tacos, a drink, and chips.. Choices are either beef, chicken, or pork. If you want steak it's an up-charge of $1.00 and if you want dipping sauces for the chips its also an up-charge of $1.00. Still not bad. I don't recommend their salsa though, too sweet for my liking. Their tacos comes with lettuce, olives, tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, cheese, and I dont remember what else. I know you can eliminate the fillings. I've had the burrito here as well, it was ok. Nothing to brag about. More on the bland side than the flavorful side. But it's a fast food joint, so does it surprise me? Service at this Tijuana Flats from my two encounters have been superb! Compared to the one in riverside, this one definitely has the charm. They made sure that everything was ok with your order, even asking if we needed a refill on our drinks! It's little things like that what makes a good memorable service. The place does get very crowded, as it is still brand new so people are still trying it out. If you are craving for some fast tex-mex food, Tijuana Flats is definitely the place to go.

Tried this new place last night. The $4.99 Taco Tuesdaze special; two tacos, chips & drink. It was okay. The food was fresh but not anything special. The atmosphere was loud and crazy. The inside is very colorful but cramped feeling. The green ceiling makes the place look 'dark'. I liked the order at the counter and the food brought out to you. All the young girls serving and waiting on tables was very excited and pleasant. I will give it another try and may give it another star.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
