Burritos here are pretty good. I had a chicken and black bean burrito covered in queso and my husband had a carnitas burrito with salsa verde. Can't complain, it was good. The employees were all really friendly, too. Tried some of the hot sauces from the hot sauce bar and I guess I need to try more stuff towards the "death" end. I liked what I tried but it wasn't very spicy. We will be going back again to try those cookie dough flautas!

First time chips and hot sauce trial? Great, sign me up. This is a great little spot that reminds me of a combination of firehouse (for their sauce selection) and freebirds for their burritos! All around, tasty spot to try out and sitting outside is nice when the weather is nice!

A couple of friends and I met up here to catch up after work. It was a great experience! While we waited for everyone to show up the servers assisted with getting us drinks. Once we ordered up front all of our food came out quickly and the servers continued to make sure we were ok and our drinks were filled. I ordered the Beef Flautas and they were delicious. Of course they have a large hot sauce bar which I indulged in as well. Def suggest this for a quick dinner or lunch!

So pumped to have this in the neighborhood. Great food and great service. As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted by one of the servers, offering to help you with the menu and sauces, and probably anything if you asked nicely. Also if you are in to sauce, or a "sauce boss" go here, they have the best hot sauces. Tuesday is Taco Tuesdays, you get two tacos and a drink for $4.99, can we say deal!

I have to start by saying Tijuana Flats is the only place I have found worth ordering take out or fast food in the past 6-8 years. I've loved the place for so long. Started at Lakewood, then Deerwood and now Riverside site is my closest. Took a friend there Friday night for take-out. Hadn't been in a month or two, so was surprised by new menu. To me it was simple but also more complex without the reliable s on the menu. Although it was not crowded, the order taking guy was pretty impatient while taking orders. I ordered the same as I had before and was assured they still offer this type of burrito. I also ordered an extra salsa and chips as always ( I LOVE their chips and save the extras). When we received our orders, still quick so not long waiting, I found the bag not very full. He called out my order with an extra of salsa and I asked about chips. Yes, he said...there are lots of chips. At home, we opened bags to discover a smaller and not as fresh version of the past Tiquana Flats. My Black Bean Burrito was about a Tablespoon of BB and mostly lettuce. No sour cream as I ordered and the biggest fault was NO chips with the side of salsa. A small (about the size of the cup given at wine tasting at Fresh Market) of salsa with out any chips. $2.99. My friend okeyed the food, but I was disappointed at the changes. Glad its close by, Sad it is not the same quality of food.

This is a great little place to get some Mexican food. I've tried several different burritos and I really like the tree hugger. They have a great selection of hot sauces and burritos. The staff is really friendly. And I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys burritos and hot sauce

  • Jamie W.

For a quick serve spot the food is a+. Flautas are freshly made and nice and crispy. Tacos are large and the kids menu has fresh fruit or applesauce as a option for the side dish. Staff are always friendly and willing to answer any and all questions. And the hot sauce bar is the place to try all kinds of great flavors. Particularly like the ones with a peach flavor to them.

This place is DaBomb-dot-com (© Guy Fieri)! It creates a brain pain when I have to decide between Tijuana Flats and Burrito Gallery, so I am going to carry a coin whenever I have my tex-mex hankerin'. It is that good! Add to that service that is bangarang and prices that make your wallet happy and it is the trifecta, baby!

Excellent service, especially for a counter service restaurant. But the key to any chain is their consistency and TJ does that well. I have eaten at four of their locations in this area and all have been fantastic with the same- great service, good food and an outstanding salsa bar. Can you get more authentic food? Probably, but TJ's is always good, always involved in the community and has these chic tiles that represent all sorts of area groups. So eat at on one of their special days like "Taco Tuesday", and enjoy.

So, I wandered in here on a Tuesday and it was totally packed. I figured out it was Taco Tuesday, but the deal seemed pretty lame. $5.49 for 2 tacos, chips and a drink... whoopee! I hate when a "deal" includes a drink as I generally stick to water (or alcohol). Taco Tuesday (IMO) should be $1 tacos nothing less. I did notice they had $2 drafts from 4-7 for happy hour everyday though, something I could definitely vibe with. Maybe Chipotle has spoiled me, but I'm not a fan of ordering burritos/tacos at the counter and having it made in the kitchen behind a wall. I like picking and choosing what goes in as its being crafted. I like to see what looks fresh. You can't do that here. The burrito itself was pretty gimpy. The tortilla wasn't warm. No rice. Flavor was "meh" except when I overpowered it with the hot sauce (that's actually my fault, but who cares at this point). I'll just stop here as I won't be returning willfully.

Five star service. Five star food. Five star Queso. Very tex mex with delicious tacos, chimichangas, etc. Visit the hot bar; although, I am too wimpy for some of their sauces! The chicken chimi with Queso on top is delish! Their chips and cheese is top notch as well. They have happy hour and delicious iced tea. On Fridays, they have live music- nothing better in the summer.

Absolutely fabulous 2 tacos drink nachos salsa all for about seven bucks you can't beat it it was absolutely fresh. Was very prompt and help me through the process being that it was my first time there. After sitting down the service continued with the waiter coming by asking if I needed more drinks or if I needed anything else. Will go back if ever in town again

Got the special tonight for $5.99, burrito, chips and drink but it ended up costing $10.00 and change..... You have to pay for extra crap like queso, cheese and extra... Everything is always extra.

This is my favorite Tijuana Flats location. It is conveniently located adjacent to the Memorial Park in Riverside - we've brought many guests here for a bite then a nice stroll in the park to view the river and cityscape. The patio here makes for a nice outdoor dining experience - it is heated for when it is chilly and is also dog friendly! They staff even offers a water bowl for your pup =) I've ordered the Chimichanga, Tostadas, and Flautas - my favorite of those is the Tostadas. The chimichanga just had too high of a tortilla:filling ratio (too much tortilla, not enough filling), but its flavor was still good. The Flautas were my most recent venture, but the Tostadas won it for me. Three very good choices. Note: Their jalapenos are HOT, but good! We've always had great service here - if you are unaware, Tijuana Flats is full service after you order at the counter, so don't forget to tip when you pay at the counter unless you have a few bills for the table. The staff here is always checking up on you to make sure your drinks are filled and you have your food, which they are pretty quick to bring out. The restaurant itself is like other locations, having colorful walls and decoration. It is kept clean and tidy. The sauce bar is focal, as it is right smack dab in the middle of the dining room, and has many sauces to try - quite a different experience for us. They also have their sauce for purchase if you are so inclined. Also, this place offers a military discount!

I love this place! I come here ever taco tuezdaze and swear by it. Everything is fresh and made to order. I hate flour and can't eat hard shells, they accommodate me with soft corn tortillas warmed up. Thank you Tijuana Flats for making me feel like I'm home in SoCal and making my authentic mexicali tacos.

  • Rebecca D.

Americanized Mexican food at its finest. Everything always taste good and fresh. Fast service but slightly overpriced. My issue is the non-option of rice and beans and no drink. If I tell the person I want rice and beans but no soda they are lost. I'll get a tap water and I literally had rice and beans in my quesadilla and a side of chips. I never want chips and I won't drink soda, can I get the rice and beans without sending the cashier and kitchen to Mars? Quizzically they can't find a button for rice and beans without a soda... Chips are wasted and styrofoam cups go straight to the landfill.

Went with a small group at lunch. This is a regular stop for Taco Tuesday's, Some things you can always expect from this place on Tuesday at lunch. - It will be busy - The line will be out the door - The line moves quick - Someone will great you and offer to get you a drink while you wait in line. Ordering at the counter on Taco Tuesday is easy but there are quite a number of options to go through. Hard or soft, type of meat, variety of extras, chips with salsa or queso? Lastly, give them your name or any name. After you order, find a table. The place isn't that large but good thing that they have an outside area. Not always an easy thing to get a table especially with a group. But just a brief amount of patience and you will have one. Shortly after, they will come looking for you calling out the name you gave. Oh, and don't forget to stock up at the hot sauce bar too. More than a dozen different sauces from mild to wickedly hot. Sit back and enjoy your tacos or other food. The food is good and tasty. The staff will circle around often to see if you need anything; like more soda to put out the flame from the insane hot sauce that you used. Can't wait for Tuesday!

Tacos bigger than your face !!!!! Loved the queso and seasoned chips !! Sangria was tasty and refreshing ! The hot sauce bar was the highlight ! You can sample 15 or more of their sauces, all the way from mild to "slap your ___" to death..... Lol Loved it for lunch :-)

My first experience at a Tijuana flat was a yelp event which I had a wonderful time trying different menu items sampling new burritos and hearing about how Tijuana flats works . At the event not only did the great taste of the food stand out but also the wonderful staff . They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome . Tonight I was craving Mexican and stopped in to get the tree hugger which had been my favorite that we sampled . We were greeted at the door by one of the friendly staff members who welcomed us in and offered menus to look over . We walked up to the counter placed our order .We ended up ordering the Atom bomb and banana empanada as well as the tree hugger . They took our name and shortly after we ordered they brought out our meal to our table . The atom bombs filled with with American and cream cheese with fresh Jalapeno peppers , tree hugger filled with chips and queso bell pepper mushrooms cilantro sour cream and the last but not least banana empanada . Each were just as amazing as I had remembered and their hot bar is really a fun touch too but I have to say the thing that makes me give this place five stars is the staff . Wow again they simply amazed me with how friendly and helpful they are . They made a good dining experience a great dining experience . Must places bring your food out and then that's the last you see of them but not here . We had at least three different staff members stop by our table durning our visit to check if we needed anything from drink refills to sauces . This is a great lil spot to come in and grab something fast tasty and fill like your getting pampered by their amazing staff ! Love this place .

It has been quite awhile since I've visited a Tijuana Flats location. After working at the Starbucks next door through lunchtime, my stomach started to growl so I wrangled up a few friends to come and join me. I ordered the fish tacos and some queso. (If there is queso somewhere, I just have to have it.) The chips were really good... they had an extra bit of seasoning sprinkled on, maybe a garlic pepper, but made for a nice chip. The queso was ok... not the best in the world, however not the worst either. The fish tacos on the other hand were a miss for me. I did enjoy the extras on top, some cabbage and a sweet vinaigrette type sauce, but the fish was pretty fishy. :( I do love they have beer on tap, even if it's only a few selections. There are a few things that make the place standout, and why I'll totally come back again to try something different on the menu. It's decorated pretty lively, and has a fun feel. There is a huge covered patio for smoker friends or dog lovers. But the best thing is the hot sauce bar. There are probably 10 different variations to try and even thou the cups are the tiniest things ever.... I did get to sample quite a few and loved most all of them. After we ordered our food at the register, it was brought out quickly and there was always a server checking on us to make sure we were properly "refreshed." I'll update when I head back that way and try something else.

Finally. A Tijuana Flats in Riverside great job franchise owners! There's not too much to comment on here. I typically go on Tuesdays with the kids for the Taco Tuesday special except I pay a little extra and have the soft tacos grilled for my little boys. It helps hold the whole thing together like a quesadilla. Great customer service. Fast turn around from ordering to food on your table.

My wife and I have been down in the Jacksonville area visiting family. Today we were taken for a tour of certain areas... and we wound up in Riverside... and my stomach was starting to growl. Thankfully we ended up at Tijuana Flats!!! It was the first time for all of us eating here. The staff was excellent explaining to us how ordering and service occurred. Since it was our first time... the manager sent us a complimentary dish of chips and salsa. After i placed my order... I decided i wanted to bring some of their hot sauce home. I like to have different hot sauces at home from places I have eaten. He gave these to me on the house as well! Something that he didnt have to do. Our meals came soon after and what a treat for our tastebuds. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals... and then to complete the trifecta... the manager dropped off a complimentary plate of their cookie dough dessert flautas!!! These were so tasty... and a nice treat. I will definitely recommend this establishment to anyone visiting the Jacksonville area. And i will definitely return on my next visit down here from New Jersey!!!

I went here for dinner for the first time last week although I have lived in the neighborhood for three months. I'm glad I went. The food was good, but what made this a five star experience for me was how friendly and helpful everyone who worked there was. They set themselves apart from other restaurants of this type. We were given extra chips and cueso to take home and a refill of soda on the way out. I realize that this isn't a huge deal, but it was a nice touch that made us feel good about the experience. Definitely will be going back.

We were traveling through Florida to Missouri and we stopped at Tijuana Flats for lunch. We have never eaten here before. The staff greeted us immediately and enthusiastically explained the menu. After our meal we were brought a complimentary dessert from the staff for stopping in. The food was amazing !!

My husband and I had dinner here last night on the recommendation of a 15 yo son of friends of ours who said it was his new fave place ever. LOL I'll listen to his recommendations more often, because this place is great. We weren't sure what to expect, but this place is similar in set-up to other fast food places like Whataburger and Pollo Tropical - you order and customize your food at the counter, then pay and sit. The workers then bring your food out when ready and there is a bar of hot sauce condiments where you can customize it even further. We started off with the Tijuana Trio, like the previous reviewer had. The young lady behind the counter said for us not to worry if we run out, we can get refills. The guacamole had large chunks of avocado, the queso was cheddar based but good, and the salsa tasted very fresh. My husband had the Megajuana carnita Chimichanga and loved it. It was the biggest they offer and it was stuffed full of tasty meat and other things. The jalapenos were a hit, since they were very fresh. I had the chicken Flautas and the serving was quite large. The chicken inside is all white meat and generous in portion. The beer selection was bigger than I thought it would be, so my husband was able to have his favorite, Negra Modelo. Soda refills are free. The place was busy for a Sunday night, with groups of customer coming in waves. The young ladies working there were very perky and appeared to really enjoy their job. They kept the tables bussed and cleaned and went around offering to bag up leftovers or get refills for those still eating. Everything is made to order, there are options for eating healthy and semi-vegetarian (beans instead of meat), and they have no freezers, having everything made fresh daily.

From top to bottom, I received A plus food, service and drinks! I highly recommend this place to win and dine. I loved sitting outside(Patio). The Pie Roller was excellent, so was everything else. It is located on Riverside Ave. in the Publix parking lot. I can't wait until I bring my husband here to try the food. Thank you TF for having a "Top Notch" operation.

Punk/hardcore kind of vibe with decent Mexican food. Price wise was around $30+ for two people, but you do get what you pay for. Will return every now and then. Staff was Friendly.

  • Carlos C.

The food was very delicious. I will admit it was a bit pricy for burritos and chimichangas but the food was of good quality and worth it in my opinion. The steak was very good and not the cheap chewy stuff they pass off as steak at most chain taco joints. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, especially the manager who immediately offered to change out my friends order for something else because he didn't like what he originally ordered. That's great customer service and made a great impression on us. I will happily return to eat here in the future.

  • Jeremy B.

Very nice set up. All of the sauces have very unique name and tastes. I purchased the fish tacos, since I was told I wouldn't regret it. Very much worth my visit! Upon my next visit to Jacksonville I will visit this place! Try the fish tacos and the variety of sauces! They also offer a military discount for military personnel! This is hands down some of the best fish tacos I've ever had with the sweet a sassy sauce. Oh my! My went crazy!

  • Brian B.

The word that comes to mind is "meh". It's okay in a pinch. I'd take Moe's or Chipotle over it any day of the week. But there aren't a lot of great Mexican joints nearby. Mossfire is overpriced for what you get. Corner taco is getting there, but still trying to figure out the transition from food truck to store front. I'd love a Taco Lu instead. Tijuana is known for the hot sauces because everything else is so bland.

    (3)
  • Shannan H.

The beef tacos and beef flautas are great...the hot bar of sauces has something for anyone even if you dont like spicy food. Also the nachos and queso are always a great choice as a side

  • Crystal M.

We enjoy late dinners and lunches here occasionally and it is always a pleasure. We often order online and go and pick it up, online ordering is a breeze. I usually always go with a Steak Quesadilla or Dos Tacos. (Sometimes both) they have yet to disappoint. When we dine in we usually go later in the evening so it isn't as crowded but our food always comes out fast and after a year of doing business with them they have never gotten our order wrong or mixed up.

  • Ryan H.

Not really sure why I didn't try this place out sooner. I've heard Tijuana Flats was a good place to eat, but never got around to it. Certainly will be coming back again. They have a lot of sauces to choose from. Fairly decent prices on all of their food selections. Very clean restaurant. I got the pick two dinner - Hard shell chicken taco and a steak Chimichanga, with a PBR, and chips and queso. Very good combo. Ended up being around 12 bucks? I'll be back for sure.

I found this place in Riverside a couple of weeks ago. Since then, I've been back quite a few times to bring different people to try their sauces. The first time I was there, the Manager offered me a basket of chips and brought me several of their sauces to try. Loved the customer service! Word to the wise: If you can't take spicy food much, don't move on pass the fourth sauce! Overall, is a great place close to my office, their food is tasty, and their customer service is great even during lunch rush. The only issue with their location is parking, at least during lunch time.

  • Deanna M.

Great atmosphere and great food! Love the story, the art, and most importantly the quesadillas! 15 different hot sauces to suite every taste! Did I mention how friendly and helpful the staff is? Wish I had one of these where I'm from up north. Legit though, awesome place!

Service was amazing would come again just for that. Taylor helped us it was our first time. The hot sauce bar was really fun and she had some great picks. Food was good I got Mahi Mahi tacos and my husband got chicken and bean burrito which they had a lunch special on. The chips and salsa were excellent. Will definitely visit again.

I honestly think I frequent this establishment much, much more than I should. It's really still new so it's clean, bright and everyone is SO happy to be at work. The employees are always so nice and offer to bring you anything you'd ever need. They even run to open the door for you. I learned the hard way that even the 'medium' version of a burrito is HUGE. I always order a miniquana and it's perfect. I haven't ever had any sort of issue here with staff or food. Also, sign up for the mailing list! You'll learn about all the great deals they have. I've gotten free beers and BOGO entrees all from emails!

This restaurant is nearby so we eat there often. As far as fast Mexican food goes, theirs is not bad. There is a huge variety and everything is fresh and ready in a few minutes. However, I wish they had more beverage choices--more non-alcoholic, non-carbonated, non-cola, no sodium drinks besides tea or water. I usually get the veggie burrito because I find that their beef and chicken have way too much salt. I would rather taste the food, but over salting kills the natural flavors. About half the time my burrito is not exactly as I ordered, but I usually eat it anyway. For the most part, the staff does a good job of being friendly. (You will note that I did not say that they are friendly. They might or might not be genuinely friendly. I just get the impression that in the restaurant they are doing what they are told--to be nice to the customers). Should they have to be told? The outside dining area is nice if the weather is good and as long as you can keep the bugs away from your food and your napkins from flying away and you can avoid the panhandlers who target this area. I don't like eating inside because it is usually too crowded and way too noisy to carry on any conversation and the tables are too close to each other. The restrooms could use a good sprucing up. It would be nice to be able to wash my hands in a clean place since most of the food there is meant to be eaten with your hands. We'll continue to patronize this establishment despite its drawbacks. It's just way too convenient and, after all, the food is fresh, hot and fast. I'm not blown away by it, but it will do.

Went there this evening with my wife and was pleasently surprised. No, we had never been to a TF before tonight and we liked it. After reading the reviews on Yelp we decided to give it a try and found it very good. We started with the Tijuana Trio. (chips with Salsa, Guacamole and Queso dips) Wife had the chicken chimichango and loved it. I had 2 fish tacos and was very happy with them. I tried the hot sauce bar (sticking to the milder left side) and found a new sauce I loved. I would highly recommend this place as a place to go and have Tex-Mex, and a good time. My wife agrees with the post about the other TF locations saying that Tijuana Flats is the Mellow Mushroom of Mexican restaurants.

Fast, friendly service. Excellent salads and a great variety of salas. The only drawback is mid day parking in Riverside.

Tijuana Flats is never boring. Bright colors, Jam'n Music and great hospitality. The Riverside location has the corner of the building opposite Memorial Park. Sometimes live music and always people watching at this location. Several times we have been going to the Roosevelt Location near NAS, but this is now so much closer. It is a toss up all locations have very consistently good food. We typically enjoy the Carnitas Flautas very good flavor & the Dos Enchiladas Chicken with green salsa verde , and don't forget to try the multiple creations from the hot sauce bar. Overall solid food for a nice value.

This place has a great atmosphere. Everyone that works there is extra friendly. You can't help but be in a better mood when you leave. The food is very tasty, too. Taco Tuesdays are the best. You get two tacos, chips, and a drink for 5 bucks. Oh, and they have lots of different random hot sauces to put on your food.

Wow, where should I start with this place. I look at the menu and order a few things.. Surprised that many of the items on the menu didn't have prices. I ordered 2 plain quesadillas, 2 burritos and an order of nachos... $50 right there. I was baffled by the price of a quesadilla, about $7 (tax included) for ONE PLAIN quesadilla, oh well I was hungry so I didn't say anything. For the nachos, I ordered with carne asada and the worker absolutely had no clue what that was.. Umm.. Last time I checked this is a mexi restaurant? I told her "you don't know what carne asada is in a Mexican restaurant?" She says, "this isn't a Mexican restaurant this is a tex mex restaurant, now can you tell me what it is, in English please?" Still baffled I continued to complete my order. All that mess was over and received my food, let me tell you, this food was definitely NOT worth $50.. The quesadilla itself was crap..not because of the quality, but because if I was paid $7 for a quesadilla I expect it to be at least cheesy! It was mostly tortilla. Disappointing... The nachos were actually decent.. The burrito was again, mostly tortilla, hardly anything inside, mind you I ordered it with everything but sour cream. Disappointing again.. That pretty much wrapped it up for me, the worker who took my order had an attitude (although other workers there were very nice) I will not be coming to this place again to get an attitude, sorry girl who took my order, you caused me to not come back with that stank attitude (I've worked in retail and I know exactly how attitude will affect customers and I do not want that to happen to me when at any place of business)... I would've tried to come back and test the food again.

Let me first say that I do usually enjoy Tijuana Flats. However, there is a girl that works the register that has waited on us the last 2 times we have visited this location and she is a real rude nasty person. She has long red (not natural color) wavy hair that is pulled back in a ponytail with a couple of piercings in her lip and her right arm in a sling. I spoke to the manager about the hard time she gave us on our last visit and he assured me it had been taken care of, however, when we visited today she gave us the same hassle and when I said I thought we had resolved this previuosly, she said, "I hear that all the time." I certainly could have used other more accurate words to describe her, but she is anything but an asset to this location and we will say away until she moves on!

  • Michael T.

Food took a long time to arrive and was poor quality as well as poor quantity. A taco salad from Taco Bell, with drink would have cost half as much, been twice the salad, and served more promptly. Not sure what it is with these folks but their food is not worth the price they are charging. The salad was comprised of mostly lettuce stalk rather than leafy greens, and barely covered the bottom of the Tortilla (stale) bowl. I had to search to find any chicken and at the most, there might have been two tablespoons of chicken (seemed more like only one tablespoon)...and along with a soda it cost me almost $10.00...I might add that I contacted the company by email yesterday and as of yet, no response!

  • Jeni H.

I'm familiar with TF and like their food, so I knew about what to expect here. But I went to this location a few months ago and was extremely disappointed by the food quality and customer service. Any time that happens I put the restaurant on the "wait a few months" and try it again after some time has passed. I made a good choice in doing so, because the difference was night and day. The quality of the food was outstanding, the employees went above and beyond to help the customers, and the overall vibe of the place was much improved. What clinched it was seeing an employee (manager? She was wearing a red button up shirt) who was obviously on a break put her own food down and spend a good five minutes politely explaining the different hot sauces to a customer without once glancing at her now cooling plate of food. That's dedication! They have live music now on the weekend, haven't tried that yet.
