For now 3 stars not bad, but certainly a ton of room for improvement. Cons: - Bad service. - They were out of basically every beer the night my date and I was there. We would ask for a beer and the response every time was "The Keg is blown." Not sure what the issue was with all of that. Known and praised for their craft beer selection to which they never have any on tap. - Both servers told us they almost dropped our food multiple times... ok thanks. - They need to just demolish the wall that is separating the Silver Cow and the sister restaurant next door (the name escapes me right now). You can order from both sides whether it food or drinks. - Their side salad is terrible. It's literally just a few chunks of iceberg lettuce. - My first beer was incredibly flat. Pros: - Lots of fun games to get your hands on and play. - I suppose the beer selection when they actually have the kegs working. See complaints above. - The quaint and intimate atmosphere. - My sandwich was decent. I had the Pastrami & Cheese which wasn't bad, but wasn't anything I'd drive out of my way for. - Their baked goat cheese is awesome. - I love their story behind how they named it the Silver Cow. Check their website for details.

I have been here a few times now and I can safely say that this is one of the most relaxing places you can go to in the Park & King area. If you are with people with whom you actually want to have a real conversation with, this place is perfect. The beer selection is first rate and the bar tenders are friendly and helpful if you have a hard time deciding what to try. There are also some games available to play while you are here, so that too is an option that helps add to the relaxed vibe here. There are snack like selections available here, so far I have only had their pretzels and they were very good. If you are looking for great beer in a friendly, relaxing environment you will find The Silver Cow to be perfect!

This may be a little bit biased: 1. I love good beer 2. I had the honor of meeting THE Brew Bitch! 3. It's within walking distance of my house 4. Beer. Wow. AMAZING beer selection from across the world... but I would expect no-less from the Bitch of Brews... (who is soo super sweet and nice btw. I've been following her FB page for quite some time, so I was beyond thrilled to meet her in person.) Think of the Silver Cow as a grown up Kickbacks. Unbelievable beer selection in a fantastically chill location... with fab exposed brick walls, unique lighting, chill music and great over-all vibe. They do offer food, although my last visit was all about the drinking. And yup, there is a vast selection of board games to choose from... so I do apologize to all of the people that saw us doing weird challenges and yelling at mirrors and what not. This could easily become our "new favorite place." And attention wine drinkers: We had an expert in the group and he was impressed at the wine selection as well... so definitely something for everyone. :)

2nd best Bar in all of Jacksonville. One of the largest beer selections, all the games you could want to play, amazing atmosphere, and really awesome staff.

I love The Silver Cow. The beer is good, the service is great and it's not super crowded! The cozy atmosphere is great, and the decor is really interesting. I always have a fun time there!

Silver Cow is a great place to have a quiet drink with a good friend. It has a very charming interior that is accented with very quirky antique lamps. The afternoon I went a local home brew group was having a tasting. I ordered a beer from Brooklyn Brewery, but I can't remember the name. I also ordered the pretzel which came with delicious beer-flavored cheese sauce and beer-flavored mustard for dipping. Silver Cow's clientele was super friendly the afternoon I went and I think it will be a good place to meet new people while enjoying a beer and some snacks.

Short: awful service, bad food, ho-hum craft beer Long: Saw 4-stars on Yelp with 22 reviews, open until midnight with the kitchen also open until midnight. Sounded like a good alternative to late night food and craft beer compared to Kickback's. Their craft beer menu is digital and not on the chalk board, so the server had to leave her iPad at our table to peruse. I'm guessing that this system would not work if there were multiple tables wanting to see the beer list. Each table had 1 paper food menu and 1 paper wine menu. With three people at our table, we were not given two extra menus. The food selection was extensive, which worries me, about 30 dishes in total. The food menus were organized differently from each other, i.e. someone had misarranged the paper inserts. Menu had appetizers, charcuterie, salads, flatbreads. We told our server we would split the baba ganoush and pita, greek salad, bruschetta, and portobello sandwich. I order beer #1 off the digital list. It had kicked. Ordered beer #2 then, it was a pour of the kegs "dregs," i.e. the yeast slurry/sediment that settles at the bottom of the keg. This is fit for consumption, but should be served for free and after explaining to patrons why their beer looks like an opaque milkshake. Then, we were never given extra plates for sharing these dishes. We had these after asking, but one of the dishes was completely wet. Baba ganoush + pita was good to fair with limp pita and warm, smokey baba ganoush. Portobello sandwich tasted liked it had been microwaved with molten lava center that burned the roof of my mouth and soggy, wet, thin, mushy bread. Potato salad side was simply 'gross,' which I don't think I've ever had to describe a dish on Yelp before. Tasted just nasty like sour mayonnaise and vinegar. Greek salad took 25 minutes to come out. Not sure how that was possible since it is a mixture of raw foods. It tasted okay with just a mix of basic ingredients. Dressing was okay. Feta cheese tasted strange. Finale of bruschetta, usually an appetizer, coming out last, was 'best of show' in the most sarcastic sense. This was non-toasted baguette slices with a topping of canned minced garlic used for cooking. This was raw though piled atop the bread with canned sun-dried tomatoes topped with powdered Kraft parmesan cheese. It looked like something from Kitchen Nightmares or Bar Rescue. It was all but inedible. I would normally give this a 1-star, but the owner finally came over after maybe our server got the hint that we were not happy. We were most upset with portobello sandwich and the bruschetta, so they were removed from our bill, which was nice. The owner made excuses for their new chef, but it isn't the chef's fault. The decor, menu template, recipes, service, and beer care were all poor.

This seems like a nice alternative to the craziness of the usual King St bar scene, but unfortunately, I was unable to experience it. My friend and I stopped in at 10:00 on a Saturday night. There was a good crowd and we were planning to try some beers and maybe play a board game. Unfortunately, after waiting at the bar for between 7 and 10 minutes, nobody appeared to help us. In fact, no employees were visible in the entire bar. We gave up and left.

My thanks to Allie A. for telling me about the Silver Cow as I felt genuinely welcome in this little bar and found inspiration in its existence. Reflecting upon my visit with friends, the Silver Cow worked well into our scene after a huge pizza dinner at Pele's across the street. Dressed up more like a living room than a bar, I had no hesitation in saddling up to the end of the bar and requesting tastes of the 20+ taps. The guys behind the bar were very easy to talk to about the beers they had on tap and helped steer us in the right direction. What struck me was their helpful manner really spurred us into trying more than our fair share of the beer as we played cards until we thought it was time go. I was pleased to try so many different beers in the tasting packs that i really had a good opportunity to hone my tastes to what I like, which are strong Belgian-style ales. Among the selections on tap, the Silver Cow had two Tripel-style ales (think 9%+) that I thought were stunning from Goose Island and Unibroue. I am looking forward to returning to The Silver Cow in the near future.

Moooove your feet right on over to the Silver Cow! This cute little lounge is one of the newest joints to pop up on King Street. This laid back lounge offers a nice variety of beers, some well priced wines and even a small selection of snackable foods. With a bookcase full of games on the back wall, there is plenty to entertain you. Our crowd definitely attracted some attention as we danced around the bar and mimicked a slug drowning in beer, among other things. The staff is great & really do everything they can to make sure you're having an enjoyable evening. Cheers to another great place where everybody can know your name.

My first thought upon walking in the Silver Cow: I want my house to look like this! How stinkin' charming. The Silver Cow is a beer and wine bar at the intersection of King and Park in Five Points. I smartly wandered in here one night recently in search of a new haunt. I had seen some talk on Yelp about the Silver Cow, so I made it my destination! I got there about an hour and half before closing, and it was pretty quiet with two other parties enjoying the venue. I went right to the bar and began to peruse the menu. I went with a beer flight (see pic for my selections). The bartender was very sweet and helpful. I don't like beer, by the way, but I like to try new things, and sheeee wassss awesomeeee. Amazing selection of card/board games in the back. Bring your friends for a sophisticated but not-so-pretentious drink stop! (I want to try the food, too)

This place has a great vibe. It has a nice laid back sort of hipster/modern feel to it. The bartender was very knowledgeable on all the beers and very friendly. They have a great selection of craft beer in the bottle and on tap. I did not order the food, but it did look appetizing and moderately priced. Definitely go with a flight of beer if you want to try new things.

Silver cow is my new favorite go to place. The atmosphere is dark and intimate. The food and drinks are amazing. The most intriguing art and decor makes for a good conversation. The people here are friendly and inviting. This is a place I could drink alone after work and not feel lonely.

I heard about the Silver Cow from a friend of mine when they were visiting me in Macon, Georgia. When I decided to go on vacation to Jacksonville the Silver Cow was the first place I went to. When I first walked in I was amazed at this establishment it was clean and well kept. The staff was very friendly knowledgeable. Wanda who is the bar maid was very helpful. She gave me really good suggestions on what was great on the menu so I ordered Bohemian plate which was excellent by the way I highly recommend it. I spoke with the bartender because I didn't know which beer I want to order and she suggested the creme brulee which was excellent. I went over to the anxe side of the Silver Cow and I was amazed at the atmosphere there it was great. I highly recommend the Silver Cow to anybody who wants great food, great beer and a all around wonderful place to go. I love this place

The Silver Cow is Riverside's NEWEST lounge and bar. The name "Silver" comes from the area of Riverside that was once called 'Silver Town' and the "Cow" from 'Cowford,' Jacksonville's could-have-been-moniker. The 'Jax Brew-Bitch' herself is the owner of this amazing venue! The minute you step inside you immediately feel "at home" and welcomed in a way I NEVER expected to feel at a bar (because it's a BAR!) How they transformed a bar into something so INVITING and warm is beyond me! Maybe it was the *ultra* comfortable padded seats placed around the tables made of wooden barrels or the fact that the music is played softly enough so you can hear your table-mates over a rousing game of Cards Against Humanity. It's true. I had been itching to go to The Silver Cow since hearing they had the twisted adult version of 'Apples to Apples' called 'Cards Against Humanity.' There's a lengthy list of beer available with two ciders on tap. I ordered the Old Rasputin 'Russian Imperial Stout' for $6.50 and Hubby got the McKenzie's 'Black Cherry.' I personally love Intuition's 'King Street Stout' better but this was was satisfying too. The decor was fantastic! It reminded me of 18th century Aristocratic Russia meets Western Saloon in Montana! The coiffured tin ceiling, rusted sphere chandeliers made from wine barrel bands, and the craziest ornamental lamp that looked like twinkling elephant legs were placed in a perfect composition to keep your eye roving all along the establishment. The Silver Cow is perfect. We stayed there for HOURS with our friends and ordered the pretzel with cheese sauce and horseradish mustard and both an apple and cherry turn-over served with a side of sweet vanilla ice cream. The food didn't taste home made but we didn't care. The price was around $5 each and the tasty munchies reaffirmed feeling like we were at a friends house for a intimate game night. The bookcase with alluring NEW board games compelled me to return to make even more memories! I tip my hat to you Silver Cow and feel like we're already close friends.

Spent a fantastic night at the Silver Cow. Amazingly friendly staff and an excellent selection. Just tell them what you've enjoyed in the past and they'll offer up your next favorite. Highly recommended.

Love this place. The atmosphere is relatively quiet most of the time. The food offerings are unique, and the beer selection is great. The staff is also very friendly. This is a weekly stop for me.

I visited for the first time and cannot rave enough about what an opportunity a place like this provides to any lover of craft beer. There must be 25-30 carefully chosen taps that change at the drop of a hat. The bartender cheerfully provides small samples of any beer you would like to taste. The atmosphere is upscale yet comfortably cozy. I will return whenever possible.

I had been wanting to try this place out for awhile but I'm not that big of a drinker so I needed to remember to go with friends that were so I could actually go. I didn't get food but looking over the menu and wondering where they'd make all the food I'd be curious to know if it's actually good food or if it's bar food. I got a blackcherry cider which was yummy. The husband got a beer float but they didn't have the beer he wanted to use for it. He was upset that they had a beer listed on their menu but didn't actually have it. The girl kept pushing the chocolate stout but my husband didn't really want that. But she said that went great with the beer float. He ate it all so I assume it was good but perhaps next time we could have more suggestions rather than just pushing one? They're known for the vast amounts of board games they have. So that's ultimately why I wanted to go there. It was fun! Good times spent with friends. The place is lovely. I love all the details in this place and I love the location. I hope they stay around for quite some time.

Is a pleasant bar. Never seen it very crowded. Beer and wine and cider. Never ordered food, though.

Craft brews with Jim Morrison watching over and fairy lights. What's not to like here?

I liked this place a lot. It hasn't been open very long, but they have a good beer selection and a bookcase of games. I think it will do well here. They do have a small food menu that looked interesting. This would be a good place to grab a bite and hang out with friends for the evening.

I walked in last night after a hard night at work. I just wanted some food. This place is brand new and really a nice place. They did a lot of the space to make it a more upscale joint in Riverside. My dilemma was I was dressed in work stuff and felt really out of place. A very quick glance around and one trip to the bar. This was not a place for me on this night. I didn't see any menus or even anyone eating anything. So I get to write a review about the places interior and atmosphere and not food. What??? Mark not food, go figure.

Warm and cozy with table service. They have a fascinating and varied beer wine and cider (my latest vice) selection and an interesting light food menu. It's also smoke free with some amazing photography work by a local artist adorning the walls. I think it's a great place for friends and conversation or an intimate first date.

Very sad. The atmosphere is quaint and laid back. It's a beer and wine place with some food. I had high hopes for this place! Lots of board games, fun! But once you get your drinks the server forgets about you! When we finished our drinks we walked up to pay our vill because the waitresses never came back. We told the cashier/other waitress about the lack of service and she just didn't care. I think I will avoid this place and go buy a game! The servers would rather talk to each other then serve customers.
