We are always on the look out for great BBQ, took a chance because it was close to home. We ordered the Family Feast to go ; it exceeded expectations, the whole family loved it. Slab of ribs, whole chicken, slow smoked beef, beans, cole slaw, fries, and garlic bread - the original sauce was excellent - really think we have found our BBQ place, this is where we will order from now on.

I have ate here a few weeks ago, the place is nice with friendly wait staff, but the meat had an odd taste kinda sour but not a vinegar taste not sure what it was. I also tried a couple other Pig Bbq and did not like the taste there also but they didn't have the sour taste like the one on beach blvd. location. Not going back.

So I found out about the Pig Bar B Q when I attended " The Best of Jax" an event that recognizes some of the top restaurants in Jacksonville. By the time I wound my way around to their station I was pretty full, but the aroma emanating from the table filled the surrounding area. I strolled over to take a look and it was love at first sight. A single large rib full of well smoked meat glistening in all it's goodness along with a small ramikin of coleslaw . I spoke briefly with the gentleman manning the table, he shared with me how the meat is prepared by smoking and oven baking until the meat is fall of the bone ready and of the new location, which is very close to where I live. As good as he was, I manage to pull myself away only to cave in ten minutes later snatch up the biggest rib I could find on the table. I was sold, the meat was tender and succulent, flavorful. moist and melt in your mouth tender. So I reached out to my eating partner and suggested we give this new place a try and see if indeed the food was as good as I imagined it was. We were greeted promptly when we entered although it was peak lunch time and the place was pretty full, seated and given menus. Our server took out drink orders as we looked over the choices. The drink selection is limited to a few beers Bud and Miller, some wine and a full compliment of soft drinks and ice tea, coffee, OJ and milk. There are about eight appetizer items, several salad offerings, sandwitches, dinner plates and family specials. kids/senior menu, and the usual sides that come with the dinners. We were there for only one thing the ribs, we both ordered the large dinner with consisted of five ribs and choice of two sides. For 12.99 it was a steal. They also offer several flavorful sauces for those that need to add some umph. I found it not necessary. I am happy to proclaim the food was every bit as good and perhaps better than what I sampled at the food fest. A little aside here, our food was served to us by the very person who convinced me to try the ribs in the first place. He is the BOH Manager of this store. I recounted our first meeting and he remembered. We both laughde and I told him I am a new convert and will tell all my friends this is a must do experience.

Other than our pleasant waitress, this place was a complete disappointment. Passed the Beach Blvd. location daily and had to stop in to try it. I should have left it a mystery. The restaurant has no ambiance and the food was poor quality. Sides were definitely canned and not fresh. Maybe I expected too much, but there are many better bbq options in Jax.

Still amazing, their breakfast is a recently discovered gem that I must say deserves a high top compliment! The catfish and grits is amazing and I love the smoked sausage! I also saw the waitress come out with a plate of pancakes when I came in and omg they were Huge they looked soo good! Next time pancakes for me!

I'm all about BBQ, so I'm always up for trying new BBQ places in town. The Pig Bar-B-Q Restaurant has been around for a while, but this is a new location for them. I went out there with my parents on evening to try them out. I got the Turkey Sandwich (minus the bun) with Mac & cheese and fried corn. The meal was not bad, but it wasn't impressive either. The turkey was thinly sliced and was a little dry. The mac & cheese was not very good at all, and I am a mac & cheese connoisseur so I know what I'm talking about! Now I do have to say that the fried corn was pretty good. Verdict: Didn't like it. It's not that it was bad, but it wasn't really good either. The food was just basic and didn't stand out at all. With so many other BBQ places in Jax, I don't think we will be going back. I will say that our waitress was great. She was very friendly and attentive. Now the other waitresses, I'm not sure about. One in particular kept staring at me and talking about me to other waitresses (they would look when she was talking). I'm not sure what that was about, but it was very uncomfortable. If I would have been there with just my husband, we would have definitely left without even eating.

I was a little disappointed by this restaurant. The food was average. The pulled pork sandwich was ok (more fat than meat), the baked beans tasted like they came out of a can, and the fried corn needed seasoning. The bright spot was the service. It was fast and friendly. They need to invest more in the art of BBQing to be better.

This place is just flat out bad. We live right next to bono's in Bartram park and eat there frequently. We recently got a coupon for this place and decided to try it out. I must say that we will not be back. All the food was dried out. The mac and cheese was horrible and the fries had to be sent back bc they were cold. Maybe it was a bad night. I don't know, but we will not be back.

Ribs were so good I had to try the chicken. So I had a breast, dry at every bbq place. It was phenomenal. I've never had chicken edible from a bbq place. Over 30 years I've had food at their different locations. It has always had ups and downs but tonight was great. I called to thank them tonight and plan to call to speak with the management in the morning. Likely even higher up the chain too. Whoever was there tonight nailed it. If you try once and are disappointed then come back another time. There is a reason I can remember eating at the Lem Tuner and Normandy locations as a kid.

The Pig on Beach is a welcome addition to the south side. As a patron of the Pig's other locations this one is by far the cleanest. I guess it helps being it just opened. We were greeted upon arrival with smiles. This is always a plus. The atmosphere is a little different than other locations. It is a little sterile but very quaint. The service was excellent but the food was just so-so. We had the chicken and ribs. Though the chicken looked to be over cooked it was juicy and flavorful. Excellent with that famous Pig suace. The ribs on the other hand looked over cooked and were very tough and dry. I am hoping this is related to the restaurants recent opening and not how they will be once things get going. Overall the sides were good and as always the tea was sweet. Will try again once they have been. Open a month or so and update the review.

Sandwich was cold. I was not even room temperature cold, it was like refrigerator cold. This place has gone downhill past few years. Not bad BBQ but competition in Jacksonville is getting better and they are not.

Stopped in for lunch and was greeted quickly and that was about all I liked about this place. Ordered a sandwich, fries, slaw and beans. The pork was lacking in flavor and dry. The sides were ok. The service was very slow, server never stopped by once during my meal and I sat for 5 minutes done eating before she stopped and asked if I needed a refill them was several more minutes waiting for her to come back with my drink and check. Think I'll pass next time...

I am a huge bbq fan but the pig just does not do it for me. The sides are fabulous but the bbq is not my favorite. I've tried the pig 3 times and each time I say the same thing. I don't think I will be back

I was so excited to find out there was a Pig near the beach. I grew up eating at the Lem Turner one and still always have a bottle of Pig Sauce in the pantry. Try signature sauce is a staple in our home. Our waitress was wonderful and attentive and she is the only reason I'm giving two stars. It took 30 minutes to get our dinner. In a BBQ place it should come out much faster. We both ordered ribs and beef jerky would have been more tender. I had the Lima beans and they were perfectly seasoned but cold. We will be back but only to buy the sauce.
