Our first visit was this last Tuesday. This place was really great! The bar is friendly and inviting both in appearance and the people who tend it! Kristen took great care of us. The restaurant is casual but nice enough that you would not have a second though about bringing someone for date night. The food was all tasty, well prepared and presented. Will definitely be going back soon!

The Good Food Company is an awesome spot for dinner with clients, friends or even solo at the bar. The music on Wednesday creates a stellar vibe! Solo acoustic guitarist sings and performs all genres of music. The menu is well thought out and provides options for vegetarians and carnivores! The Chef is both creative and nice enough to accommodate special diets (i.e. vegans) as he did for a guest in my party. The owner is fantastic and the team is friendly. Favorite Appetizer: GFC Pork and Beans - Slow Roasted Pork Shoulder with a Fried Cannelinni Bean over a Blackberry BBQ

Food is mediocre at best. We keep trying it hoping it will live up to the reviews. It doesn't. Don't waste your time or money.

Fantastic Food!! We had the Shrimp Palenta, Oyster Salad and the Calamary. Great Atmoshere and the staff was very professional. Definitely coming back.

It was our daughter's birthday and she chose The Good Food Company. We are so happy she did! The seafood was amazing! The blueberry bread pudding and the stuffed mushrooms were outstanding. This will be a must for all out of town guests.

Great Food! Great Service! Great Happy Hour! A little pricey. Definitely a date night kind of place. We tried a little of everything and it was delicious. Excellent wine selection.

Short review. drink: sangria - meh. ive experienced better appetizer: ravioli - meh. ive experienced better entree: crab cakes (real lump crab!) - yay! i'm a fan dessert: black pepper and strawberry cheesecake - yay! i'm a fan fly that was buzzing my crab as I ate - eek. me thinks not! service was decent although the server was not very familiar with the food. I would come back but only with a groupon. I have heard that the bread pudding is delicious. Maybe next time.

Looking at these previous reviews, I don't think I went to the same restaurant! There were four of us who stopped in for lunch on our way to the airport. Not one of the selections tasted good and no one finished their meal. I was checking it out for our monthly "saturday night dinner club; and am so flad I did. Never again!

The food was good. I had the catch of the day & the mahi-mahi was cooked perfectly. The summer medley of veggies and the mashed potatoes were prepared wonderfully. The only part of the meal I didn't care for was the sangria we ordered. It tasted as though it came straight out of a pre-mixed bottle rather than freshly prepared. The groupon we used saved us a little but they do automatically add the gratuity, so be sure to watch your bill so you don't over tip.

Food: If review was based on food alone, I would have given it 5-stars. Amazing flavors, great portions, and nice presentation. Kinda pricey, but I think most foodies would agree - probably worth it. Amibence/Location: this is what brought the review down to 4 stars. The location is kinda out of the way - not near the beaches, not near Southside, not near downtown. Just kinda in the middle. The complex it is located in leaves much to the imagination - I mean, for such an awesome food experience, I don't expect to walk outside and see a gocery store. But the decor inside is nice and you do forget you are in a strip mall-like area. Service: Again, another reason the rating is 4-stars. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, but service was slow. Only 5-7 parties there, but it took 2 hours for the whole experience. Great with good company, but a little slow when you are just there for dinner. Granted, I like not being pushed in and out in under 15. Also, went there for a birthday (and mentioned that in my reservation) but nothing was said and no special attention given. Again, not a huge deal, but would have added the extra star if that extra 'something' had been done.

My wife and I have ate here several times and each time the experience has been awesome! The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food is amazing! The food they serve is very creative, unlike anything you will find in Jacksonville. Some people may not like the creative taste this place offers but I love it. I love to get the boursin mushrooms to start my meal which any mushroom and cheese fan will be in heaven. The steaks are very well cooked and topped with sauces, that will compliment the flavor of the steaks, and not over power them. This place offers some very fine liquors, even concoctions they made like vodka infused with jalapenos. The drink prices are fair for a higher end establishment like this place. Customer service is great! Everyone is very friendly and helpful. The wait time for anything is very quick. The manager and the owner have both come out and talked to us for extended amounts of time. Not just asking how our food was but really, talking to use as if we were friends. If you enjoy fine dinning and creative foods, I highly recommend coming here. If your a picky eater and don't like trying new things, then stay clear.

Very over priced food for what you get. Actually, it would be over priced @ 70% off because what you get is WAY below average. The clams are ok. Everything else is really not good. I would not recommend going to this restaurant. They over cook everything. The wait staff was pleasant.

Food is overpriced for what you get and the kitchen is very slow to get food out (waited 45 mins for our meal).

The place is appropriately named though I would call it The Best Food Company. Nestled off of Atlantic Blvd in the Stein Mart shopping center this place can be easily missed of you don't know that it's there. I had a crappy day at work and really needed to unwind. What better place to unwind than to come here on Ladies Night? When I walked in the door I expected to be a packed house of women but it seemed like it was any other ordinary night, not crowed with pockets of women and families eating dinner. I met up with my friends in the back and was a little surprised by the decor and the lighting. The place is a little dark and the small candles on the tables made for an intimate atmosphere along with a single long-stemmed yellow rose on each one. How pretty! I glanced over the cocktail menu and decided on the Lower East Side: Grey Goose Vodka, Blood Orange, and Balsamic. Divine!!!!! Appetizer? I'll take two please. I got the Boursin Mushrooms and the Mussels. Yes, I did both. The mushrooms were stuffed with Boursin cheese and filled by using one of the fancy icing decorators with leafy greens. Those were delicious. The mussels came with garlic bread slivers and I hungrily devoured those. The mussels themselves were small but plentiful in a decent size mound. I wasn't going to get an entree but I caved when I saw one of their specials: oven roasted rainbow trout. I don't remember the last time I got locally sourced rainbow trout. It came stuffed with breading (and I can't remember what it contained) with mashed potatoes and asparagus. The entire meal was amazing! One friend had the fried oyster salad who loved it and another had the beer salad and she like it. She said she was expecting it to be roasted beets but it was good either way. No dessert for us as we had no room. Our waitress Lacey was very attentive and courteous with our loud talking, baby-holding, and belly laughing selves. All in all, a very enjoyable evening and we will be back.

Went here again for lunch yesterday. The chef, Millard, came out and spoke with us. They were actually closed and prepping for NYE dinner, but served us anyway. The food was fantastic. Billy had the grouper and I had the italian melt. The bartender actually helped us come up with the drink creation we made for NYE (it is called the Alamo and it was a big hit). Heading there for lunch with friends this Tuesday. Please help spread the word about this great new place!

So my wife took me out for dinner last night to celebrate my upcoming birthday (not much to celebrate as I get older ;)). Anyway, she wanted to try something we don't do all of the time. So she found Good Food Company. They're on Atlantic in the strip where Big Air is. I didn't even know there was another restaurant in there so it was quite a surprise. The place reminds me of the many smaller places up in the NE (where I'm from) which aren't chains. A little more expensive than say, an Outback (but not by much) and a more, "mature," menu if you know what I mean. We started with their onion soup and some calamari. The onion soup was super hot (too hot, IMO) but tasted good. Was a little too buttery but still had a nice flavor to it. The calamari was just plain awesome. Perfectly-cooked, not too small, not too big and not heavy breading like so many places around here like to use. Just plain right. I had a NY Strip with summer vegetables, red potato mashed and a mushroom cognac (got that on the side as I hate mushrooms but my wife said it was great). My wife got Lamb chops with mint viniagarette and fresh spinach tossed with red onions, tomatoes and feta. The lamb chops were pistachio crusted. My steak was cooked perfectly. They used basil to season the steak--something I do--although they used a little too much for my taste. But it wasn't unpleasant. My wife loved the lamb, was cooked perfectly and was delicious (in her words). We had a bottle of zinfandel with dinner and had dessert--she had a blueberry bread pudding and I had their chocolate brownie with peanut butter icing. She loved the bread pudding. The brownie was good but had a crust on top and was HUGE! The brownie is enough for a family of 4 to be quite honest (it was only $6). Anyway, our bill came to $125, which, considering we had a bottle of wine, isn't bad at all (the bottle of wine was $58). The best part was they have a happy hour special for 25% off bottles of wine so that lowered the bill a bit. Service was good (no complaints) but I can't say it was excellent. Again, no complaints but it could have been a little better in a few minor areas. Nothing to keep us from giving a nice tip for sure. Was very nice eating there, was a mix of people (old and young). Not a bad atmosphere either. Sort of industrial but not in-your-face industrial. Overall, we really liked it and plan to go back. The best part is it's about 5 minutes from where we live. If you're looking for a nice date night place (you could bring kids there but it's really not that kind of place), this isn't a bad spot to go. If you're trying to impress that someone special, this is not a bad place for that sort of thing (for here in Jacksonville) without spending twice as much at a place like Ruth's Chris. Just thought I'd pass along a good spot to have dinner (or lunch).

I can't get enough of this place! The food is amazing, the atmosphere is wonderful, and the staff is friendly and helpful! I have dined at The Good Food Company twice, with plans to go back again and again. I am constantly suggesting this restaurant to friends and coworkers. Food recommendation: Lamb

Wow! That is all I can say. This is my favorite restaurant in all of Jax. I went on a Tuesday night and the place was jamming! The food is absolutely unreal. I ordered the charcuterie plate with homemade cheese and meat. This was a great way to start. We followed that up with the pork scallopini and chicken Tangine, they both blew us away. The dill sauce with the scallopini was jumping off my palate. The chicken was not recommended by the server, but we went with it anyhow and I would have been very upset if we didn't order it. The chicken was moist, tasty and cooked to perfection. Served in a Tangine. Don't skip either of these entrees! I can't wait for round two at my new favorite spot. I don't rate on service I rate on food. The service was not perfect, but adequate. I had a drink at the bar and it took a while for it to get served. He made up for it later with a free drink brought to my table. But, if I wasn't hungry or a little irritable that day, it might have driven weaker individuals to go to another establishment!

Went to this new place called the good food company. I do have to say Ally from Yelp made it fun and I really like it. The food was good, try the crab cakes and the flat bread.

Used a groupon! That's the only way I'd go there again. The food was decent. I had the chicken something. I dont think ill order it again. My husband had some aged steak. It was really good. I stole a couple bites from his plate. Bread pudding was good! Savory & sweet. It was just too pricey. My husband obviously liked this experience more than me. If I wanted to pay $20+ for a plate, I have a few other restaurants in the area that I'd choose over this anytime.

One word - Charcuterie. Classics always seem to find a way to come back around. This is one of those classics that is back to stay. Before the advent of nitrates and nitrites and before refigeration itself, we used salt to cure our meats. This is a craze that is sweeping many of the finest restaurants around the nation and we have an excellent example of it here in Jacksonville. They use spice rubs, infusions, and dry aging for some wonderful creations. They also have some fantastic cheeses to go with the meats as well. The other part of my meal was good but unremarkable. Our server was friendly, but not a server by trade, so it took away something from the overall experience. I would definitely go back.

I am a pescatarian (eat seafood only) and had a Living Social deal for a prefix dinner. My only option for the entree was shrimp and grits which is great, but it has sausage in it which I asked to be left out. It was already mixed in so the server graciously went and talked to the chef who gladly worked with me. It was delicious!!! The food was excellent, the atmosphere relaxing and nice and the service was outstanding. I would definitely go back.

I'd eat here once a week if at all possible. Their wine list is impeccable, food cooked to order perfectly each time and the ever-changing menu has yet to be even remotely disappointing. Our server, Elena (both times as fate would have it) is outstanding, attentive and knowledgeable. I've had Veal (yeah, I know...) and a rib-eye in the two times I've been there. My gf had Grouper this time and a seafood dish last time that was impeccable. The key to this restaurant's success is the fact that despite the generous seasoning, nothing is overpowering. It's all very complementary. We ordered a bottle of Simi white and it fit just perfectly with our meal. Our appetizer was a shrimp of some sort (brain injuries are not conducive to writing day-after reviews) and our dessert, this time, an outstanding cheesecake. We'll be back for sure.

I've been here twice now, and I can't echo everyone else's positive reviews enough. The wait staff seem to genuinely celebrate the food and drink menu. The food is presented beautifully and always exceeds expectations. The atmosphere is really attractive but still comfortable, and includes a beautiful fake Chihuly chandelier. Their steaks are better than any steakhouse in town, and the mussels are fresh and served in a lovely sauce. Also, I can't believe nobody has reviewed/recommended the blueberry bread pudding yet. It's phenomenal and not to be missed, so save room -- one server described it as "the last dessert you'll ever want to eat". They're in a location that has killed more restaurants that I can count. I really hope they stick around.

went for the first time. great service . we had the rib eye it was good but not the best. also the calamari and stuffed mushrooms. but the french onion soup was the best, really full of cheese. the highlight of the meal was the peanut butter cheesecake! i would go back.

Wonderful food with upscale atmosphere. Everyone from the hostess to our waiter was very friendly. The owner came by twice and checked on us. We felt right at home. The menu is suprisingly diverse, offering something for just about everyone. Has a very nice bar area and they even smoke and age their own meat. We had the pasta with bolognese sauce and also a seafood medley over pasta. Both were outstanding. There is also a very good wine list and about anything you want from the bar. This was a refreshing experience and we'll be back soon.

This is my new favorite restaurant - I've been here three weekends in a row, for both lunch and dinner! You have to start with the charcuterie plate, whose contents change often but whose quality has been exquisite each time I've been here. They cure their own meats, and the plate comes with cheeses, a tapanade, toast points, and pickled vegetables. Each dinner comes with a salad course - my favorite version had grapefruit slices and arugula. Their sauces are to die for, particularly the one that comes with the filet mignon. The meat melts in your mouth, and the sauce is delicious. I've also had their fish specials, which again are perfectly done, fresh, and paired with roasted local vegetables. For dessert, try their cheesecake. You won't regret it :-) Their chef, Millard, comes out and talks to the diners, which is a very nice touch, and they have an open kitchen, if you want to go back and check it out. Definitely make a trip to check them out, you'll love it!

I attended an a chamber event at this restaurant and was very impressed with the atmosphere, the service and perhaps most of all, the food. Everything I ate was delicious but especially the cured meats that melt in your mouth. Ended up staying late and having a few drinks at the bar. Can't wait to take some of my more 'foodie' friends out to eat here when they come to visit. Nice to have something so novel and classy right in the middle of Jax!

This place seems impressive and for the most part we were impressed. Our server was a little rough around the edges and the food was good but not great. I was a little disappointed that they were out of the chicken and dumplins. We will be back

Ahi Tuna appetizer was absolutely terrible. Vinegar reduction tasted like drinking moonshine. Chef was very proud of his recipe and made all 8 of us feel like we have inferior tastes for not appreciating his vinegar reduction sauce. Seared Tuna entree was extremely fishy at first bite, then it got better, but I would not order it again. On the plus side, atmosphere is good and very electric style. It's a good place for wine and drinks, but should be called " bad food co".

This is the place to try!!! I live in DC, but am down visiting Jacksonville for a few months and found this gem the first week I was here. The atmosphere is very modern, but comfortable. The first time I went with my mom we sat at the chef block in the middle of the restaurant and it was a great experience. We met other couples sitting there and Chef Millard came out to visit with us a few times throughout the meal. I have been back twice with my family and have only been more impressed each time. The food is probably some of the best I have ever had. Their meats are cured and are prepared very well. This restaurant is going to be huge with the amazing food, great atmosphere, friendly staff, and a great chef. I am looking forward to my next stay in Jacksonville just so I can go here.

Not good! Mezzo appetizer disappoints - pate good, prosciutto like beef jerky, cheeses looked like something off grocery block cheese aisle. Need to upgrade to gourmet cheeses to compete in Jax. Ribeye steak passable but nothing special. Tuna seared but no flavor and sides not at all tastey. Service was both tedious and obnoxious. We were advised we could not order appetizers and wait entrees. There policy was entire order had to go into kitchen same time. Fine, then our appetizer was overrun by our salad and soon we had all 3 on the table. I'm not a slow eater. Also we had reservations but were seated next to the bathroom door even though there was another booth open and several others opened up within minutes of our seating. Huge disappointment after the write ups. Will not be back!

Shannon is by far the worst business owner I've ever encountered. Due to her lack of organization, communication and overall professionalism, she completely ruined our wedding reception. To my guests disappointment, and even though I paid for an open bar, she still charged my guests for alcohol. I repeatedly had to tell the rude bartender that it was open bar, but he continued to charge my guests regardless. In addition to running out of food, Shannon was 3 hours behind on schedule, which meant that my guests simply sat there waiting for their food until 10:45 PM (instead of 8:30 PM as requested). We were also unable to utilize the awesome DJ's we paid hundreds of dollars for when we could have simply played a radio. Most of my guests really wanted to dance and have a good time mingling, but they had to stay at their tables and wait for their food. By the time people ate, it was time to leave at 11 PM. Shannon has communicated with me that she will refund me over $1000, but now her doors are closed and she is refusing my calls, text and emails. Beware if you are planning any type of event.

My girlfriend and I went the first weekend they were doing brunch. The chef and the restaurant staff were very nice and knowledge. They brought us samples of several drinks and food. We ordered French toast with fresh strawberry topping it was to die for. We also had a savory crab omelet. The food does take a while so be patient but it's because everything is made from scratch it's worth the wait. Just make sure you have plenty of time to come relax and enjoy your meal. The staff is very sweet and you will have a great meal.

So before you get too crazy look at my earlier review of this spot. 5 Star and I stand by that. Unfortunately the newly initiated Sunday brunch did not make the cut for me. I missed the first week but we went for the second. When we arrived at noon we were the only guests, but by the time we left it had started to fill up probably with late sleepers or church goers. We were both stoked since we had eaten here several times before and knew it was going to be spectacular. It is a very simple/basic menu with some of the items from the normal lunch, dinner offerings. I was at a loss for inspiration. We did start with the Cajun Mary evidently GFCs spin on the Bloody Mary. I see Cajun anywhere and I think zing and spice, but not in this drink. In truth it was less spicy,or tasteful than the mildest Mary ever . I am still searching the menu for inspiration, so we started with the GFC Mezzo. This is a delightful selection of their house cured meats, and pickled vegetables. At 18$ it is ample enough to serve 4, and we were two. We ate some of it to save room for the main. I finally ordered the Corned Beef Hash with " Marchand Di Vin Sauce" Not being familiar with this I asked the server and he was a clueless as I was, so off he went for a course in knowing the menu before the client asks. He never did give me an answer ( I Googled it when I got home) but better yet brought me a small ramekin so I could taste it. Not something I want on my CBH, so I ordered it san the sauce with scrambled eggs. The menu states this also comes with corn cakes, well it came with something but I would not call them corn cakes, I might think they had some left over waffle batter and we made baby pancakes and threw them on the plate. No corn in site. Presentation may not have been on the menu that day, I could have been at any diner and at least had a orange slice or a sprig of parsley. My friend ordered the Buttermilk Waffles, and they were nice, warm and fluffy but nothing to make you want to make a return trip. She had the same diner thinking I was guilty of. So needless to say we will not be coming here for brunch, will not recommend it to our friends. But we are still fans of the dinner and Ladies Wednesday night wine discounts...

I really wanted to like this place more than I do. We have now been here twice and while the staff was much nicer on the second trip I'm still not blown away by their food. I had limited options since I don't care for seafood which was the first bummer but even their fillet turned out to just be "ok". My husband likes this place a lot more than I do so I have a feeling I will be dragged back against my better judgment but I think I'll stick to a salad or something simple.

Disappointing food at a premium price! First, I want to say the service was amazing. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable; from the wine list, to the appetizers, salads and entrees, he knew it all and even told us his dislikes as well as recommendations, which I greatly appreciated. Upon gazing at the menu, I was immediately disappointed. The table next to us actually got up and left after looking at it. The wine list was puny and terrible. They either have cheap bottles that cost $9 in the store, or mid price bottles with a high markup. We ended up getting a $60 red blend which was OK. I only had a glass and a half of it and that's not like me at all! Ha. Next, I noticed the food menu online is not the current one and the server let me know they change it constantly. I am a vegetarian so the new menu severely cut down on my options. We tried the poached cauliflower appetizer which I thought was expensive for $15 but it actually arrives with a whole head of cauliflower so we were able to take some home and I will be making other stuff with it. It came with a goat cheese feta sauce for dipping. Entrees - my friend ordered chicken pate, kale panzanella salad and beer cheese soup. The salad didn't come tossed in the dressing like normal panzanella salads, the chicken pate was dry but the beer cheese soup she absolutely loved. I tried it too and it was really tasty. They had gnocchi with brussels on the menu as a side for $8 (which I think is a very reasonable price) so I asked the server if they could just charge me more for an entree of it and also throw in some mixed veggies. No problem. When it arrived, it was simply the small side size of gnocchi with brussels and a very small side of mixed veggies. The gnocchi was delicious and whatever sauce it comes in was also very tasty. The side of mixed veggies was drowned in butter/oil and had way too much garlic. When the bill came, I noticed they charged me an extra $7 for these three bites of veggies. Lame. Overall, we paid $126 (without tip - we left a big tip because the service again was excellent!) and at the end of it all, the food was a let down. My friend is a foodie and basically likes everything but was very disappointed in this experience. I've actually never seen her not like a restaurant meal! I want to end this on a positive note so here is what I actually liked about the restaurant: The ambiance - there's a fire pit thing that's very pretty and I really liked the decor, The gnocchi was delish, The silverware - weird thing to like but it was a perfect weight, The water glasses - they are made from recycled wine bottles LOVE! And again, the service. As I looked around it seemed that all servers were helping each other and being very attentive to their tables. In the end, it was a place we really wanted to try and we accomplished that. No need to check that box again.

Never thought of it, but went by for lunch with my wife and the menu was completely different. Lots of sandwich and burger options with amazing balsamic chips to accompany them. If you have been thinking of giving Good Food a try, lunch may be a great introduction. I loved the burger preparation, while my wife loved her shrimp po' boy. They also have soup, salad and some more hearty entrees too.

OVERPRICED AND UNFRIENDLY. Very over priced for what you get. I ordered the lamb at $37. The lamb portion was small and it was served with a pile of puréed squash with a disgusting fig sauce on top. We sat at the bar because they had half priced appetizers if you ate at the bar. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, which are normally around $10 or $12. We got 6 very small mushrooms filled with not-very-exciting cheese. My friend ordered a pasta dish that was truly boring. They had only a few wines by the glass and a short wine list. The bartender verged on rude and practically threw our plates down in front of us. The bill for the two of us was over $70 + tip. Not at all a worthwhile experience. That is the third and last time I will give The Good Food Company a try. I live right nearby, so I kept trying it, hoping they improved their service and their food. But, they're still unfriendly and overpriced.

My family and I went here for dinner tonight. We had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The decor was nice, the staff were friendly, and the food was outstanding. It is great to have a local business supporting local farmers and vendors. This is a must visit in Jacksonville for date night or a enjoyable night out with your family.

Good Food & a Good Time at Good Food Company. While my wallet has gotten a Good amount thinner and I've gotten an (un)Good amount thicker, it's all been for a Good cause to celebrate the Good people and Good food you can find around this Good city of Jacksonville. I had heard about GFC when it first hit the scene, but had not had an opportunity to make it in to taste their offerings until last week. Starting the evening off with a Blueberry Mojito, I sipped happily on this refreshing beverage. The Lemon Drop was another sweet sipper. And not sweet as in too sugary, sweet as in "Dude, that's sweet!". It left just the right amount of pucker on your lips, but didn't leave you craving water to clean your palate. For the foodstuffs, I tried the charcuterie plate. Quite impressive spread for an appetizer. And the house-cured meats are delicious. My charcuterie cutie (husband) will be very excited to try this place. I didn't order an appetizer for myself, but did get to taste the pork & beans. The presentation was awesome and the idea for the dish was awesome, but it didn't fire on all cylinders for me. The image in my head of what it would taste like, just didn't match to what I had on the plate. The panko breaded bean-balls were the slightest bit dry for my preference. Not a bad dish at all, just not what I expected. For my entree, I ordered the shrimp & grits. Like my guacamole mission I was on when I first started yelping, I've been on a shrimp & grits mission lately. Trying to find the best this Good city had to offer. I will admit I did not read the menu description at all past the name. So I had no idea how they were going to be served or what was going to be in them. My mistake, not the restaurant. The shrimp were plump & perfectly pink. The grits were creamy, but not watery. The sauce was plentiful and full of flavor. Something was just missing for me. Don't know if it was cheese or spice or what. Don't get me wrong, the dish was delicious and I ate every bite I could fit in my tummy, but it wasn't my utopia. Will I be back for more Good Food? Definitely. Do I think they're a five-star caliber restaurant? Yes, but I feel like there's some room for improvement. We'll be back soon and if it's as good as it was this time, I'm sure they'll hit five stars with no problem.

I have dined at Good Food Company since they opened. Not every week or once a month, but when I do, it has always been as good as the first experience. Let's face it, Jacksonville has a mix of palettes ranging from all-you-can-eat buffet people to dining at restaurants with actual cloth napkins. You can't please everyone. The Good Food Company is definitely for the more knowledgeable patron of finer food. If you are not into enjoying aged beef, fresh seafood, or modern sauces, steer clear of Good Food Company. Our hostess met us at the door and welcomed us. She verified our online reservation and quickly seated us at our booth. Our waiter Alan (SP?) came by a minute or 2 later and also welcomed us. He informed us of the 3 fresh fish options tonight and took our drink order. We ordered 2 glasses of wine and waters with lemon wedges. When Alan returned with our drinks he went more in depth on the fish specials and asked if we had any questions or if we wanted to order starters. We settled on a starter of Kale Panzanella and a Mixed Greens House Salad. For entrees we ordered the Sheepshead Fish Fresh Catch, Lemon Chicken Thyme, and the New York Strip Steak. The Mixed Greens house salad was served with a house-made balsamic vinaigrette. It contained a mix of mesculin leaves and spinach leaves, coiled carrot strips, red and yellow tomatoes and red onion. The Kale Panzanella was plated on an oblong plate with kale, bacon, sliced apples, red onion and croutons mixed in a garlicky Dijon dressing. Both were excellent. Our entrees arrived and were plated perfectly. Each entree was served with smashed potatoes and farm fresh vegetables. The Sheepshead was pan-seared and served with a white wine sauce with fresh tomatoes, capers, and red onions. The Lemon Thyme Chicken was marinated and pan-seared and plated in the middle of the starch and vegetables. The highlight of the evening was the New York Strip. It was cooked medium rare and topped with a creamy brown mushroom gravy and fried crispy onions. Todd, the new front of house manager stopped by and introduced himself. He just started at Good Food Company and mentioned some new things will be happening in the weeks to come. When looking at the previous reviews be weary of "one hit wonders" that leave negative comments and it is their only post. They are typically former employees or from competitors trying to sway your decision. We drove from Mandarin to eat at Good Food Company. It is definitely worth the drive...

Love this place! Have been a few times and the food is consistently good. Most recently I went the Saturday night before the Fourth of July. Apparently they close for the week of July 4th every year, so this was their last night open before they closed for a week. The owner was there with her son and literally greeted us at the door explaining the situation. She told us to expect large portions because they were basically cleaning out the kitchen. And large portions we received! I was there with a group of six people. We ordered an appetizer of mussels to start and she brought out three mussel appetizers for the price of one - one for each couple!! The rest of the meal was awesome too. I highly recommend getting the charcuterie plate - they house cure the meats and they are all really good! Desserts are usually yummy here too! Also, look on groupon or restuarants.com before you go because they often have deals and coupons!

I really wanted to LOVE this place, and while I thought it was a cut above the usual, I found a few problems. On the positive side, the service was great, very attentive without being too intrusive and the décor and comfort of the surroundings were excellent. The menu is not varied enough, it is very small and while I'm at it, so are the servings. I ordered the Eggplant as my entrée which arrived not completely heated thoroughly, and it was really just a little larger than an appetizer size, and for $17, it wasn't quite enough. My husband ordered the Mahi which needed a little extra seasoning. Our dessert, Blueberry Bread Pudding, seemed reheated from the refrigerator and was a little dry. Maybe it was an off night, and maybe it just needs a little fresh updates, and I'll probably try it again.

If you are going to eat here, don't sit in the bar. Waited 20 minutes as a regular customer that tips well for good service to get enough attention to ask for my check. Very disappointing. First time I have seen such poor service here.

My husband and I went on a date here last night. Upon entering we were somewhat abruptly greeted by the hostess who was not all that friendly in my opinion. Our server was Saunders (sp?), anyways, young guy, very attentive and nice. My husband ordered the crab cakes app and I ordered the cauliflower. They were both Delish! I've never had a crab cake that I liked until GFC. We both ordered the filet mignon which was a nice sized portion, very tender, juicy and delicious. I do agree with some of the other reviews that the menu is somewhat lacking. I was hoping for more options. Nice quiet restaurant. Good for a romantic date night. Very pretty decor. Although they need to figure out a better system for their kitchen door because on more than one occasion the servers bumped into each other while either entering or exiting. The booths were the most comfortable that I've ever sat in. Also I noticed that the utensils kept falling off the plates as they were being delivered. (Lol). Overall it was an enjoyable night. I can't say that we will return or not as it is far from us and very pricey. We were blessed to find a local flavor deal online for $50 for $100 worth of food.

went for new years eve. the steak was excellent, good as ruth chris. however they served mashed potatoes instead of what was on the menu, said the ran out. at 7:00 , don't think so. the veg was sliced bell pepper, they could do better. the restroom was a one holer, not good. three stars because the steak was so good, and cooked perfect , they could easily be a 4 or 5 star with a little effort.

Now this place was exciting to me. Charcuterie is really close to my heart. I make it and I love to eat it. They have a exposed case behind the bar just hanging there curing the pork loin. I did get to talk to the owner who does the curing and he is pretty interesting and very knowledgeable about curing. I did eat the Charcuterie plate and it had a good amount of meats 2 a garlic and a jalapeno and cheeses 2 a stilton Blue and a mild cranberry cheddar. Then a olive tapenade and a chicken liver pâté. I didn't care for either but that was just my preference. The inside of the place is pretty cool a nice lay out and clean. I will return and maybe even for a real meal. I personally like the one that I ate.

I was looking forward to trying this restaurant, but the experience I had could have been better. The waiter was friendly and joked with us when we first sat down. I ordered the mezzo platter, but changed my mind and asked for the Fresh Catch Ponchatrain. The waiter apparently didn't hear me because he brought out the chacuterie platter and the Ponchatrain. My mom ordered the crab cakes appetizer, which the waiter proceeded to bill on our bill as $26 instead of the $14 on the menu. My friend ordered the Lemon Thyme Chicken, and the cook put grits and collareds that were suppose to go on my plate instead of the vegetables she asked for. It took the kitchen almost an hour to prepare and serve our food, which we thought was a ridiculous amount of time. The waiter apologized for the wait, and took the price of the beer I ordered and the chacuterie platter as well. Finally our food arrived, and it did taste very good. Finally, the waiter took forever to process our bills, and at several points he kept disappearing when we would need to ask a question. My friend thought she smelled marijuana smoke on him at one point, and his over-friendly mannerisms were not appropriate for the amount of problems we ran into during dinner. Overall, I think the prices are way higher than they should be, the service should improve drastically, and I probably will not be back.

Great place to have wonderful appetizers, cocktails, and a delightful meal made by the most passionate Chef "Steve" I have ever met in my life. Everything was wonderful tonight. The Crabmeat patties with mashed potatoes and spinach was to die for! I also had Onion soup and a Muffalta salad. They also have the meat "curing" (prosciutto) system. A one of a kind and the first restaurant in Jacksonville to have one. The Owner went to a special school to learn how to cure and carve the meat. I also met Steve's wife, the Manager. Wonderful lady! Kudos to our Server too. She was excellent.

Another place with good local beers on tap....in my second visit to this venue, I really liked the difference in seating as we were to the immediate left of the opening near the bar. Our server was very good in her role as my date and I ordered the same thing, but with different fish, off the specials menu. It was a good experience and I look forward to returning in the future.

I really hate doing this, but I had to reduce my rating for the Good Food Company. The last several times we were there, were pretty bad experiences. I was a fan of this restaurant when we first went about 18 months ago and had a great dining experience that I recommended to my friends. But for a while now, every time we go, we walked away disappointed. First of all, we find that each time they changed their menu, it seems they are going for more 'main stream' type dishes, so the menu didn't look as exciting to me. Next is, one of my favorite favorite is their peach cobbler dessert. But for the last 3 times we went, they were out. Not only that, it seems that half the stuff I wanted to order, they were out. I usually don't get annoyed about things running out because, well, it happens. But it should be more of an exception than the rule, which for the last several trips, I have to actually line up option 1, option 2, option 3, just in case what I wanted isn't available. And then, the last straw was the weird incident during our last visit. When we got there, the restaurant was pretty empty. The row of booths were not even a third occupied; however, there was a family of 4 with two small children. One of the kids was doing a bit of bouncy bounce on the booth. So what does the hostess do? She sat us right behind the booth with the bouncy kid. My husband, seeing I have a bit of the 'oh no she didn't' look, asked politely to be moved somewhere else (smart man, that's why I married him). The hostess hesitated, and said, "Ok, sure." As we were moving to another booth, the other hostess hurried over to us and said, "Sorry you can't sit there, it's reserved. She is new here." My husband and I exchanged a look, and asked, is there somewhere else we can sit? To which the 2nd hostess led us back to the booth next to the bouncy bounce kid and said, "sorry, your table is this one." Really? Really? 75% empty restaurant and we HAVE to sit there? I should have just got up and left. But for whatever reason, I sat down. But it's one of those things that the more you sit there and the more this thought kept marinating in your head the entire time. I waited and kept notice to see if more people miraculously would show up so that the once 75% empty restaurant would now be fully occupied, hence the reason we HAD to sit in this particular booth. Nope, the entire meal, the restaurant remained, about 75% empty. Ok, I am not eating in a McDonald's where bouncy bounce kids are expected. When we go to The Good Food Company, we are expecting to drop about $40-50 per person to enjoy a nice meal, and they are forcing me to eat a nice meal while watching a kid bounce up and down his seat when more than half the restaurant was empty? Yeah, that was the last straw.... Gave it two stars as some dishes were still pretty good, but doubtful I will ever be back.

Good Food could have been called Awesome Food. We went because it is close by and got great reviews and we were not even slightly disappointed. 50 some bucks plus tip but worth much more. The pork chop entree was awesome, the butternut squash soup was the best we ever had, and we had pork rilletes for the first time and they too were awesome. We aren't the pickiest eaters but we are also not the easiest to please either. This place was really, really good!

My wife and I dined at The Good Food Co for the first time this weekend. The space is larger inside than it appears from outside, but is not a large restaurant. Fairly stark and contemporary in style. After some debate we decided to fore go appetizers and try a dessert instead. For our entrees, my wife ordered the NY Strip, with dauphinoise potato and bacon tomato hericot verts. The steak is served with a pepper rub that is not listed in the menu. It was a good cut of meat, prepared properly to the requested temperature, and the sides were very good. I had the catch of the day, which was a mahi, served pan seared with lemons, capers, tomatoes, white wine, roasted red pepper butter, herbs, and herb crushed (mashed) potatoes. This was one of the best fish dishes I have ever enjoyed and I had to restrain myself from licking the plate afterwards. Only three desserts were available, none with chocolate, and the blueberry goat cheese cheesecake we ordered was dry and crumbly, not at all creamy, and lacked some flavor. It also tasted and looked somewhat burnt. I am not a fan of this style of cheesecake, but if you like the style it may be right for you. (I prefer a creamy consistency and texture.) Our server was friendly and professional. Not spectacular in any way, but certainly left no reason to complain. We dined with a 5:15 reservation and nearly all other tables were reserved, many for a large party due to arrive. A few diners were turned away at the door or were only able to sit at the bar. We will gladly return, though next time we will likely go with an appetizer instead of dessert unless something on the dessert menu sounds more exciting.

Aptly named. Good food not great. Cheese on charcuterie plate was jarls burg and goat cheese. The house cured meat was dry. Some pieces were bland, others too salty. The toast points were so hard, that they weren't edible. Although the pate and picked veggies were delis hours. Overall, skip it. Disappointing. Shrimp and grits. The shrimp was great, but it was served like a soup. Waaay too much gravy which overtook the whole dish. Fried oyster salad was good. Oysters were well prepared, but cheese on salad made it salty. Overall... Good. Not great. And not worth the price.

Great food, ambiance and service. Not the crowded loud, noisy restaurant one would experience on a Saturday night at other restaurants on this night. Possible to actually have conversation with another couple over dinner!

5 star all the way! Shannon and her team are the friendliest staff and the restaurant is always impeccable. I have had several dishes there but my favorite is the RIBEYE steak!!!! I've been to Ruth's Chris, Capital Grill, even the Ritz on Amelia Island and The Good Food restaurant has THE BEST!! I refer all my friends and clients there!! Never disappointed!!! Oh did I mention amazing cocktails!!!!

Thank you, Groupon, for giving me an opportunity to try this place. I'm so excited that a restaurant like this exists near my neighborhood!!! When we walked in, I was pleasantly surprised at the decor -- wow, it was definitely bigger than what it appears to be from the outside! The bar area was a decent size and they had different types of seating arrangements -- bar, square tables and bistro seats, high bar seating, and formal booth seating. The only thing I didn't like about the booth seating was the way the seats were laid out. They chose cushion seats, two on each side, so if you were on a date, you had to pick which side to sit on instead of being able to sit in the middle. Anyways... onto service.... Service was interesting. We had a very energetic, southern woman who I think was quite forward with wanting you to order a drink immediately. However, throughout the evening, we shared some laughs and she provided us expert knowledge on all the menu items and the restaurant. Now onto the food... Everything we had was delicioso! :) We started off with a dozen raw oysters on a half shell. They are from Apalachicola, and are only served at the restaurant Fri - Sun. Typical oysters you'd find at the local seafood restaurants at the beach. They weren't gritty, and they tasted fresh. For dinner, my bf ordered the Seafood Fra Diavlo that was on their seasonal menu. For $23 (I think) you get a HUGE, I mean, H-U-G-E portion of fresh pasta and fresh seafood -- shrimp, oysters, mussels, calamari, etc. It offered the right amount of spicy kick to the palate :) There was enough to take leftovers home for dinner the next day. As for me, I ordered the pork chop... yes, southern style pork chop. The beautiful chops came out thick, wrapped with prosciutto, and were cooked at a medium temperature. I was a little disappointed that the best part of the chops was located only in the center, but the apple butter with sweet potato polenta and braised collards made up for the slight dryness of the chops. I ate waaay too much, but still had enough to take home. We were too full to try dessert, but the dessert of the night was a cheesecake -- if they had bread pudding, then I would've taken that bambino home with me!

Food was Ok. Calimari is good and i got the shrimp and grits, very soupy, small shrimp, would not order again. We also got the vegetarian dish, not a fan of eggplant, but was pretty good. Stay away from the specialty vodka drinks as well.

I don't usually write reviews period, however our experience last night at this restaurant has been on my mind and I decided to share it. A group of 7 of us were at The Good Food Co to celebrate a birthday and there were many factors that contributed to a very unpleasant dining experience. Started with taking about 15 minutes for a server to visit our table and another 20 minutes to start receiving ordered drinks. Had to ask multiple times to get drink straws and just about every wine and some beer they were out of. At one point one of us went out and purchased bottle of wine to be opened at the table. Took another hour for me to be able to finally place food order. 45 minutes later my pork chop dinner showed up completely cold. I told our waiter that it was cold but I will eat it, because of time constraints. Neither the meal was discounted nor manager came over to apologize. It appeared that no one cared about our experience and this restaurant was very poorly managed. We have dined here few times in the past and every time our experience gets worst. It's a shame, because couple of years ago this was a good place to come.

Decided to give this place a try on our anniversary . Had saw a few reviews about it via yelp and Facebook. I stopped by the place first to see for myself and the staff that was there earlier were really nice. Gave me a menu to take with me. We made reservations but really didn't need to since it was very slow. We're seated immediately. Ordered a bottled of Riesling but they were out so they gave us their next best thing and wine was 50% off on Wednesday . The decor was great to look at. Ordered the shrimp and grits and my wife liked it and I ordered the pork chop and asparagus with sweet potatoes. Was a bit of a wait to get our food which I thought was unusual considering the night was slow. But anyway that's just me. I'm a bit of a nick pick when it comes to the temperature of my food so they brought it outline warm. It was as if they were waiting to bring everyone else food at the same time.. In rare form I had asked if they could warm it up for me since I didn't like cold food and especially if I'm paying for it. Our server was nice and was he did everything he could to make our night romantic. They offered us a dessert since it was our anniversary. It's a bit pricey so hopefully this won't be our last time. Just a side note, maybe the chef should come out and check on his guest to make sure everything was satisfactory. No one did that until after we were on our way out the door.

No No No. There are so many things I would like to say about this place and I have no idea where to start.....first off the crab soup is so watery I didn't even finish it. Then then pimento cheese and prosciutto was a joke. It was more like pimento cheese (which wasn't bad) with the fat trimings from the prosciutto sprinkled on top. I mean if you're going to have your meats curing out in the open for all your customers to see, then the ones served better be damn good. The bartenders were standing around having conversations about the gym and their hair while I'm trying to have a nice evening out with my fiance....I'm not paying that kind of money to listen to your personal life. I would never go back and I would never recommend it to anyone either! The only good thing was the beer prices and thats not saying much.

We have had dinner and lunch here within the past six weeks. The restaurant is now organic locally sourced and they must have a new chef and perhaps new management. The food is just great and we had excellent service here on both occasions. I had this restaurant down for the count last year, but it has really changed. The selections are truly innovative and great tasting. The decor is very nice though I would still recommend that they remove the few remaining light fixtures that are left over from the previous owner. I congratulate The Good Food Company for pulling a delicious rabbit out of their hat and turning this convenient and delightful dining experience around. I urge all Beaches, Southside, Arlington, and Intracoastal folks to try it again. You won't be disappointed.

Not impressed with this place at all. They offered a really good deal on a happy hour all day. By the end of our tab, we found out that this was not the case. Some of us in our party ordered Bloody Mary's and got the same glasses back in our next order drinks. Disgusting. What makes this even worse is that they weren't crowded with patrons at all. Stay away from this place.

We had a Living Social certificate to give this place a try. We procrastinated almost until the certificate expired mostly because of the rather short menu - we just couldn't get inspired to go. I am glad we did in the end, though. The environment was very nice and very much the kind we like - quiet, dimmed lights, low key, yet elegant and spacious. The interior design is very tasteful and creative. We got to pick our own booth which was very comfortable. We got the beets salad to share - the waiter split it in two plates as we asked. Then we ended up ordering the same thing - the Duck with Plum Sauce. We had it medium rare as recommended - I love raw sushi, so the duck felts relatively raw, which I did not mind. My husband was a little less thrilled...But it was how we asked it to be made. The plate was delicious! The only not so good experience was with the wine. My husband's glass came with thick layer of lipstick on it. He told the waiter who apologized and brought back a clean one instead. The other part is that we asked for house cab - when I ask for house wine, I would expect that to be the least expensive one. Instead we were pointed to the 3rd one in pricing and since we trusted the "house" part and didn't check the price, we went with it. No big deal...but still. The wine was definitely good. Just that this particular night we weren't into drinking, which is why we just asked for house. The wine list is very extensive and rather high priced. Note that this restaurant changes their menu often. Most of the pictures you see on Yelp are of dishes no longer on the menu. Their menu is rather short, but diverse. The food is delicious. While we liked the place, we aren't likely to go back unless there is another Groupon. At this price point, I am more likely to go to Ruth's Chris or Mitchel's. This is mostly due to the menu items - I rarely get inspired to go out for some chicken or duck :) If I want steak, I will go to a steakhouse. If I want fish, I would go to a specialty restaurant. The Good Food, while good :) doesn't so much fit into either. Still, a good romantic place to try.

I wouldn't recommend this place - even if you have a Groupon. I've been to Good Food Company twice, and both were "so-so" experiences. The first time was nearly a year ago. We went at the recommendation of friends, who had been there before and had fallen in love with some of their menu items --- particularly, the Mezzo (appetizer), She-Crab soup, Tagine Chicken, and the Peach Cobbler. These same friends dined with me both times I came here. We ordered the items above, plus a few more. - Mezzo: We ordered this on both visits, and both times it was very good. Highly recommend if you like cheeses, cured meats, and olives. - She Crab Soup: This is no longer on the menu, which is too bad because it was actually REALLY good. - Tagine Chicken: This is also no longer on the menu. When my friends ordered it their first time (without me), they fell in love with it. The 2nd time though (with me), it was nothing but chicken in water. It was pitiful. We told them when we ordered, "Don't be shy with the spices". They must've misunderstood us - and instead served us a flavorless dish. - Peach Cobbler: I understand what the rave was all about. Their peach cobbler is simply sinful. But is apparently available only once in a blue moon. My friends have come to Good Food Company about 5 or 6 times now; and have only "caught" the peach cobbler twice. The last time I was there, the waitress gave some silly excuse as to WHY it wasn't available. Something about the peaches not being ready --- on a Wednesday --- blah blah. Whatever it was, it didn't make sense. I would've rather she said, "It's not available today" - Period. - Rib Eye: This was SUCH a disappointment. First, it was cut really thick --- like Filet Mignon thick. I'm not saying that's a crime - but just kinda odd for a Rib Eye. Anyways, that wasn't really a big deal. The big deal was that it just flat out lacked flavor. Zero, zilch, nada. My friends ordered this the 2nd time I was there, and although it seemed "better" this time, he wasn't oohing and aahing, so I'm guessing it was still not good enough. - Pork Chops: This was OK. I would've preferred to not have certain sections of the pork chop undercooked. There was an appetizer we LOVED on the first visit, that unfortunately is no longer on the menu. I forgot what it was officially called, but it's basically a fried rice & cheese ball. It was one of our favorites. It's a shame it's been taken out of the menu. The service was so-so both times I was there. Between my friends and I, we've used a few groupons at this place. Every time we used a groupon, even if it was just a party of 2 or 3, they automatically put the gratuity on your bill (gratuity is based the ORIGINAL amount of the bill). We have no problem with this - we understand this is their livelihood, and that folks need to be compensated based on the original amount. BUT, what we didn't care for was that they didn't INFORM us of this at the time we were handed the bill. A little sneaky. So if you're using a groupon, pay extra attention to your bill, to make sure you don't end up "double tipping". Frankly I wouldn't have minded double tipping if the service & food were actually GOOD. This place touts itself a high-end restaurant. It is certainly NOT a cheap place. But it consistently fails to deliver - both on FLAVOR and SERVICE. I am basing this review not just on my own experience, but my friends' as well, who have been here several times (P.S. They kept coming back 'cause of the groupons - lol. No more!).

Up to the appetizer I would have given it a 5! After that it went downhill... I was excited to try out this place. I liked the general atmosphere-- very open, spacious, and chic. Our server was enthusiastic and had a very detailed vision of what our meal could look like. If you're the type who turns to other people for suggestions, definitely take advantage of the server. After seeing cured meat hanging inside a fridge high up on one side of the restaurant, we knew we had to try them! The Mezzo appetizer ($18) comes with cured meat and cheese of various sorts. It's huge. The meat is thinly sliced, delicate, super salty and tasty. The salads that come with the entrees were served at this time and were also delicious. We were loving the atmosphere and good food. Then the server went MIA. It took a loooong time between the appetizer and meals... The server eventually stopped by our table to warn us that it'll be a while but didn't offer anything during the wait. Then we waited... And waited... (thank God I was in good company! If I were here on a blind date or something, I would've died.) The entrees finally came out! We were ready to dig into our lamb ($24) and pork chops ($17) dishes! Alas, the lamb was tough despite being medium rare.. The server was once again MIA, so we didn't have a chance to ask or say anything. We were too hungry from the interminable wait, so we just ate the rubbery thing... The pork chop was decent.. the pineapple bits in the rice added to the flavor but nothing spectacular. So Good Food Company... Good company? Yes. Good food? Eck.... Good service? Oof. For such a restaurant with such a nice name, menu, and interior, it failed to deliver, and we most definitely did not stay there for desserts.

I went to The Good Food Company last night for dinner with a few friends and had a great time. Together we had three appetizers, one side, two desserts, a bottle of wine and two beers all for only $75! We actually had a $50 voucher, so our final bill was only $25, but even without the coupon, $25 pp is an excellent deal for all of the items we enjoyed. The Mezza platter was filling with cheese, crackers, prosciutto, pate, etc. The Calas are fried balls with sushi rice and prosciutto in a cheese sauce - yum. The Greek Salad is listed as being "chopped" but it really wasn't. Ingredients and dressing were good though! The baked mac and cheese was delicious and the desserts - we had lemon bars and a chocolate shortcake - were traditional, but nice. I know this place is fairly new, but there were only 7 guests in the restaurant last night from 6 - 9 which is disappointing because I think the place has a lot of potential and I would like it to succeed so I can visit it again in the future. My suggestion would be to change up the vibe a little bit and go after the 20 & 30-something crowd. The prices are already on point, just add a stronger happy hour - discounts on martini's, wine by the glass and appetizers - and some more upbeat or live music, last night it was like eating in a very cool, hip elevator. Good luck to them!

The Good Food Company....Do they have Good Food? I wouldn't know considering I didn't order a meal due to the unbelievably bad experience that I had. After deciding to give the Good Food Company a shot on Valentine's Day I made a reservation and upon arrival was sat in a table for two right outside of two saloon style doors that led to the restrooms. After seeing ten empty tables, my fiancée and I immediately decided that we didn't want to have our romantic Valentines dinner right next to the crapper. So before our server arrived I went to speak with the manager and she immediately got very defensive with me before I was even able to voice my concern. She said she couldn't relocate us to a different table since the computers auto seat patrons to particular tables. I continued to ask if she could accommodate us and she was adamant that it couldn't be done. Not sure why this woman is managing a restaurant if she won't attempt to do whatever possible to make her patrons happy. I went back to sit with my fiancée and upon ordering drinks our server could barely remember a few of the beer offerings so we asked if we could see a drink list. He told us that since they were serving off a special Valentine's Day menu that he would get in trouble if he brought a regular menu over to us. All we wanted was to know what beers they had...why he couldn't grab the menu and read them off to us I don't know? With the saloon doors constantly flying open 2-3 feet away from our table it became almost comical. We weren't about to order something like a filet sitting right by the toilet so decided that we would just get a salad and leave to go somewhere else for a decent experience. We ended up being there for about an hour and noticed shortly before leaving that another couple was sat in a table and moved a few minutes later to a booth after requesting to be relocated. This immediately made our blood boil. When getting up to leave, we counted 5 tables in much better locations that were still empty from the time we arrived. I went straight to the same manager and asked her again why she wasn't able to relocate us considering those 5 tables were still empty and also questioned her about the other couple that was moved. She came up with a lame excuse that the other couple was sat in the wrong table. Then she said in a very pissy way that she can't help the fact the 12 other couples hadn't shown up yet for their reservation (meaning that's why she was saving the tables). Why wouldn't you do whatever possible to please the guests that have actually shown up to pay good money for a meal? Instead of leaving tables open just because others had later reservations. What a joke of an explanation. In the middle of our conversation the phone rang and she picked it up, began talking and looked down. This was while there were two hostesses right next to her who could have answered the phone while she was dealing with me. She was extremely rude and is clearly in the wrong profession. Here's an idea Good Food Company..stop trying to maximize space by placing a table at every possible location. Putting doors on the bathroom hall doesn't justify placing a table right next to it. No one is going to have a positive dining experience right next to the bathroom. Rip the saloon doors off the wall, lose the tables next to the opening and just dim the lights in the bathroom hallway. In a nice restaurant, there should be a clear separation from the dining area and the bathrooms. The doors aren't cutting it. This isn't McDonalds.. What poor managerial customer service, what a bad experience!!
