For price, amount of food and how its prepared I enjoying coming here. It's rare to get an option of brown rice and I love how this place gives you that option. I purchased the works and throughly enjoyed it. Love the magic sauce but not to fond of the hot sauce. Service is quick and efficient.

This is one of those places I've had bookmarked for a while and finally got around to. Something to remember is that there is way more parking out back and they even have a back entrance. Based on what I'd seen on yelp, I went with the chicken and veggie bowl with brown rice. I also grabbed some magic sauce because it seemed like every single review mentioned how great it is. I was in before the lunch rush (around 11:20am) but I could see how it would get crazy during the lunch rush. The food came out pretty quickly (it took maybe five minutes?) and was nice and warm. The serving size is pretty good compared to similar places. I actually like that it's pretty basic when it's served to you so you can really control the sauce situation. The chicken was tasty, the veggies were in that perfect place where they're cooked but not mushy (mushy veggies are a huge pet peeve of mine), and the brown rice was well cooked but not crunchy (for some reason a lot of places seem to struggle with brown rice). So this sounds pretty positive, why only 3 stars? The big reason happened when I was about halfway finished. I had poured a bit of sauce on top and it clearly wasn't enough. I was sitting near the little bar seating area and they had a sauce dispenser there (in addition to the ones up front near the soda fountain). I walked over to grab some and as soon as I put my hand on the handle, quite a few (maybe 15?) tiny gnats or flies or something started flying around. It really freaked me out, to the point that I couldn't manage to finish my food. The place was also incredibly loud. The music was loud and (I suppose because of the design of the place or maybe the floor?) every time someone adjusted their chair it seemed to echo through the room. If you're looking to go the fast food-ish route, it's not a bad choice (everything is relative, right?) but I don't think I'd go out of my way to eat there again.

I say it's best to go with the chicken veggie bowl or the works. Me and the boyfriend grabbed this since we were in the area. Seems like a typical Korean bbq joint. Everything comes with a choice of meat and an option to throw in some veggies on top of rice. You can't go wrong. The special sauce, just get it. Get two cups of it, dump on rice bowl, and devour. Don't ask any questions. Just get the sauce.

I've been frequenting this FB since it first opened. Great food and perfect for post workout. However lately the quality and quantity has fallen off dramatically. I recently got severe food poisoning from eating here. Stay away, will never return after getting sick. You've been warned. The chicken was not cooked all the way. I was sick for days.

I had always heard of this place but never knew it was close enough to my work. I decided to give it a try when I was looking for a healthy choice for lunch. It is nice that the calories are posted on the menu so I know what I am in for. I would recommend calling ahead if you have a limited lunch. They make it relatively fresh so it takes a moment to come out. I tried the works bowl at someone's suggestion. It was a bowl of half brown rice, half veggies, steak and chicken. I rather enjoyed it. My favorite part was the cabbage. I was happy that it wasn't doused in The juice made to cook it. That's what usually happens when you go to most Chinese places. It wasn't too much or too little for a seven dollar meal. It was just right. Though this place isn't called a Chinese restaurant it is. The chicken and reminded me of the kind you could get at a mall food court but better. Their brown rice is very tasty. And the employees were very nice.

My family came to this place because of a groupon. We honestly didn't think it would be all that great; just worth a try. However, we were pleasantly surprised. The meat was so nice and tender, and the sauces were on point. One thing I must say, is that this isn't really a place to get dinner from. The atmosphere is kind of blah. Great for lunch though. If I lived in the area, this would definitely be a place I'd frequent.

Overpriced Asian food. We had 3 take out. It was about 30ish. The portion was small as well. Unless you have a coupon there I wouldn't recommended going for the price and quality. Quality wise. The food was standard. The side salad was pretty much all iceberg lettuce. So it wasn't great. Overall I'm not impressed. Most likely wouldn't come back

Flame broiler is funny. It operates under the pretense of being a healthy restaurant, but they serve huge bowls of rice. That's 100 G's of simple carbs brother. Having said that, I eat about one rice bowl here a week and they are really tasty. There are essentially two menu items: rice bowls and rice plates. They are pretty much the same but the plates are a little bigger, and come with a sesame cabbage slaw. You can choose white or brown rice, and they scoop chicken, beef, vegetables or beef short ribs on top. That's the entire menu. The chicken is marinated and has a little more flavor. The steak comes in chewy strips, and if it's overcooked it's not the best. The chicken is generally a little more consistent. The veggies include steamed cabbage, broccoli and carrots. My go to is the works bowl, which is half brown rice-half veggies topped with steak, chicken and green onions. For $6.45 it's a deal, and it's a pretty big meal. It's pretty rare that I can finish one in a single sitting. The people are nice and the food seems like a good value. I don't really understand the hype about the magic sauce. It's really salty, and mostly tastes like soy. I'd definitely try it before dumping it on your food.

This is a perfect spot for lunch if you are in a hurry and want something light. I enjoyed the chicken bowl with rice and veggies. I would return if I were in the area and needed something quick.

I just had to try this place, I drove by so many times now contemplating this no frying option. I finally can cross this off my list. I ordered the chicken bowl, I wasn't really impressed. I think the meat to rice ratio was not right. I wish they gave me more chicken. The chicken was so so, I could taste a little bitter taste from the broiling. But it had decent flavor. They are fast with getting your food to you I think I got mine within 2 minutes of ordering. Maybe I'll go back and try something else. Eating here made me Realize one thing: I like fried unhealthy food.

The Works Bowl: Flame broiler sauce-basted chicken and marinated beef. Served with steamed veggies, brown rice, sweet tea. First time back in over a year since moving to Texas. Snazzy location, tucked away, parking not an issue. Steady flow of customers, but not crowded at 1pm on a Monday. Bowl is deceptively deep. Portion was filling without feeling stuffed afterwards. Magic sauce and hot sauce adds that little bit of flavor to the meal. There was also a third sauce, not sure exactly what it was, most likely a salad dressing of some sort. Wish there was a location where we live in Texas.

We used to get Flame Broiler quite regularly, especially when it first opened. We liked the flavor of the food and the simple menu. I usually order the half and half with chicken and beef while my wife like their chicken bowl. We sometimes order their rib platter as well, which is pretty tasty. However, the last couple of times, the rice was really mushy and the meat a bit dry. I hope the food is not on a steady decline. The value (portion, flavor, pricing) is pretty decent. But if we continue to get subpar quality of food, I don't think we'll go back. It would be a shame because it is a great quick eats that is fairly healthy and delicious.

  • Keisha D.

When they opened, they were amazing. They were my first choice... Now The rice isn't even cooked all the way (crunchy) and the chicken is boiled instead of broiled. So I would NOT recommend this place anymore...

  • Michelle G.

The food was really good, price was decent, location ideal, and service provided was great. Only four stars because the "magic sauce" was so much weaker than the build up. It's soy and teriyaki maybe? More soy than anything else. People were crowding around the sauce machines and literally took an entire bag filled with cups of them. The place was small but seemed to accommodate well during a rather busy lunch time.

What happens when you haven't been to Flame Broiler for a long time and you finally make it back in? You might get a little overzealous with the Magic Sauce. At least I did. It's been quite some time since I've had a magical bowl of protein & rice. I happened to be in Park of Tapestry to drop off some paperwork and I was hungry. It was after the lunch rush so Flame Broiler was empty. Walked right in, ordered myself a bowl and in a few minutes had a nice meal of grilled chicken & brown rice. Lots of chicken - which is always nice. Sometimes in these type places when you're only paying $6 or so, you can feel a little jipped on the protein. Plenty of rice to mix it with in the bowl. Clean place, friendly staff. For a last minute stop, I couldn't have been happier. Tummy was happy, but I did end up tossing the last bit of rice in the can. Not because it was bad, but because - like I said - I got a little overzealous with the Magic Sauce.

Heh, it's pouring ass rain about 60 and I've been power washing a huge house for 5 hrs...typical fast food but the twist here is its sorta like Chinese takeout without the greasy stuff. For me, dying of starvation and soaking wet it was the bomb!

If you are looking for a nice quiet atmosphere this is not the place for you, but I don't think that's what they are striving for anyway. This place serves a good balanced lunch for a decent price. For several years I have been ordering takeout from this place since it is walking distance from my office. They are always fast and efficient. I like the works bowl with no rice. Both their soy based "magic sauce" and hot sauce are good as well. If you are looking for good food/value combonation, I recommend it. I do typically go at peak hours, when the food is freshly cooked. My one or two experiences in the evenings have been the only bad ones. It just doesn't seem like things are freshly cooked at these times. Update: the manager took the time to tell me today that changes had been made to improve evening meals. I look forward to trying it!

I was recommended this place by a coworker because its nearby and the its light in the calorie count. To be honest, I thought I was this was just another overrated quick cuisine casual resturant. I went in an ordered a simple Chicken Teyarki bowl with brown rice. Everything was made from scratch fresh. It was a order to go so the food was really hot which meant the food was going to be still very hot when I got back to work which is always a positive. The only reason why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because the cashier did not recommend sauces which I thought either came already served which I found out by my coworker later on is off to the side in a self serve section.

  • Phavy T.

The food is great.. Everything on the menu is great. The service is a different story. Called in an order and was told it will take 20-25 minutes, I get there 45 minutes later and they haven't even started on it. And the cook was rude.

  • Key H.

Great location, outstanding food - and it's healthy......not heath food - or at least it doesn't taste like it. The chicken is outstanding, the veggies are great - the magic sauce is killer - but the short ribs make the menu. A great value for the money with really good food

There is something very satisfying about having a nice bowl of rice and meat. It's like ... I guess.... meat and potatoes, but Asian style. When I am craving some rice (which is very often), have none in the house (cause too lazy to cook, cause there is always rice in the house), and don't want to spend too much, Flame Broiler generally comes to mind. I usually like to order the chicken bowl with extra chicken and scallion, pour some magic sauce on it, and usually will have some left over for the next meal as well. My husband likes the half and half, but I usually find the beef a bit too overcooked and tough. It's fast, delicious, and pretty cheap.

I rarely eat a fast food meal and lose weight as a result. But that's what happened when I checked my weight the following morning. Great spot for inexpensive quick rice meat bowls, especially when you're on a diet. My friend from LA says it's Cali-style Korean bowls, but as I'm not from the Left Coast, I couldn't compare it to that. All I know is that the meat was nice and lean and the magic sauce was delicious. It's a simple meat/rice/green onions meal. They say No MSG, No Skin, No Frying, No Trans Fat. And if your food is not already cooked in magic sauce, it's gluten-free as well. I like healthy options and since this place is pretty cheap at about $6 a bowl. It seems small, but that thing really fills me up and lasted 2 meals. If you get the plate it includes an orange as well and it costs a bit more. The only thing is that my son asked for no onions on his dish and he accidentally got it. (Luckily, he was happy with it anyway.) And the woman who was cleaning up was pushy and rude when passing by us customers. Otherwise, friendly and helpful service and delicious food.

I ordered the brown rice and vegetable bowl. It was totally devoid of any seasoning whatsoever. The provided "sauces" all were sugary sweet and not suitable for rice and vegetables. This place has no soy sauce, only sweet sauce and hot red sauce. That said I don't think any sauce could rescue this bowl of steamed unseasoned bland food.

It was good food, fast service, and cheap. What more could you ask for? Delicious! Definitely a fan.

We ate there on 4/6/15 and while the food tasted great there were bugs in the vegetables. Not just a random bug but many very small bugs, one of them being a tic. They were everywhere...we have photographed them and sending them to corporate to investigate. I have never written a review on yelp before and as a business owner myself would never slam a company unless it was completely warranted. I'm just upset our 4 yr old ate a plate full before we realized it.

  • Kayla D.

Plenty of food for a great price! The chicken alone is a little bland BUT when you add one (or both) of the sauces to it, it makes it really good!

    (4)
  • Jordn M.

I was pleased with Flame Broiler and concur that the prices are very reasonable whatever one prefers: a small bowl or a large meal and a drink. However, the food is severely lacking in flavor. The vegetables are completely bland and taste like they were frozen and have not been properly thawed before reheating. The cabbage was just that, cabbage with nothing else. Definitely uninspired meal items. The meat is good and not too dry but lacks the powerful flavors of Korean BBQ. As a quick lunch place it is sufficient, but if you are in search of a very good Korean BBQ experience with a nice sized bento box, head to Samwon Garden, that place is phenomenal. Flame Broiler is good but not incredible by any stretch of the imagination.

Kal-bi is typically a more pricey item in traditional Korean restaurants. This place serves a generous portion for an unbeatable price. And it tastes great too. Simple menu, good food and great prices!

It is a fast food Korean Restaurant! There is nothing bad about that, the food tasted great and the prices were affordable. Overall, great place to have lunch! Service was great! Personally I will locate this restaurant close by or inside of a mall.

  • Loreena S.

Sticky tables, dirty floor and a little rundown but a really good food. You can see into the kitchen and I'm glad they spent the extra time cleaning there. The food was great for a healthy fast food. The staff was nice...just do a to-go visit. And be warned they have no Splenda option in the banged up bowl that holds the sugar. But hey...it's a fast food joint.

LA style kalbi! I've been wishing for a rice bowl place like this ever since I've moved back home from LA. it's not the best kbbq place i've ever been too but good enough! I always ask for extra meat! For inexpensive rice bowls or platters, to satisfy your Korean BBQ cravings.. AND if youre looking for a quick bite to eat! Go here! Oh n don't forget their sauce!

decent quick lunch place. i got the works bowl with veggies and white rice. good prices and lots of food with the price. i took a lot of sauce on the side and dipped all my meat in the spicy one. surprising to see a fast food korean joint in jacksonville.

So after reading the reviews online and wanting a quick meal, we decided to stop in before closing time. The menu was fairly simple, and the prices were even better! Ordered the beef ribs platter along with the chicken and veggie bowl. Both items came out quick. Meat was very tasteful and juicy! I would go back again! Hope they migrate south to Miami!

I was pleasantly surprised with this fast food chain in Tapestry Park. The Flame Broiler offers quick, cheap, and, get this, HEALTHY takeout with all the pomp and ambiance of a Burger King. Appearances aside, the meat and veggies were seasoned and cooked well. I'm usually picky about beef and, when it comes to food under $10, I rarely go there at all. But Flame Broiler might be an exception to that rule from now on. I ordered The Works bowl, which is a sizeable cup of rice, meat, and sauteed veggies like cabbage, carrots, and broccoli all piled in together. Great option when you're on the go and on a diet, (not that I can ever stick to one of those!) I'll be back! Oh, and if you try Flame Broiler, do hit up the sauce bar. Magic Sauce is the jam.

  • Hecate D.

I am always on the lookout for different "fast food" options and The Flame Broiler fits that description nicely. I get the mixed beef and chicken bowl and found it to be pretty tasty, albeit a little on the bland side. The Magic Sauce, however, really brightens the meal up. I love the fact that the meat is skinless, un-fried and no MSG. I also love the fact that it is not in Town Center but Tapestry Park, so the setting is oh so much less hectic. The staff behind the counter have been nothing but nice to me every time and the service is quick as well.

The food here is really good and at a great price. Jackie, the owner, is super nice and has great customer service. We have used them twice for catering and the food was on time, delicious and affordable. Great customer service by the shift manager, Ryan, as well. Thanks guys!

  • Benjamin O.

Ok. I've been here twice so that's gotta mean its good right? Well if you're eating out all the time, having something not overly seasoned and more on the lighter side can be a good thing. Traditional Korean restaurant its not but on the go and wanting something healthy to eat I'd recommend this place. Ambience: Fast Food

  • Marjie C.

I've heard of this place being really good but it wasn't my favorite. I ordered the rib plate. I've had a lot better. Sam Won Korean BBQ/Sushi Bar off University is a better recommendation.

  • Jeremy S.

Flame Broiler is pretty awesome considering the price and quality. The food is quick, fresh and extremely tasty. It's basically fast food with a lot of flavor, but healthy. I really like the Korean beef with a mixture of their two sauces. One is a hot sauce and one is a soy based sauce type thing. Both times I've been there, I replace the rice with double cabbage and veggies. The portions are great and you will be filled up! By the way, the price is very cheap.

A very Healthy place to eat. If you are on Weight Watchers they have there points list on the website and in the restaurant. I had the mini chicken bowl for lunch. Very filling and lot of food. If you order with all white chicken and brown rice its alot less on the calorics , think 110 on regular bowl and about 50 on mini bowl. Great price and fresh food and healthy. Its a place you definitely should try.

My Korean BBQ prayers have been answered! I went to Flame Broiler a few times when I lived in CA, but now that I live in Jax I usually go once a week for lunch. It's advertised as Korean fast-food, but its basically grilled chicken/beef rice bowls. Not sure how "Korean" it really is, but it is delicious! The short ribs are my favorite, but its hard to eat with plastic utensils and a styrofoam plate. I love the location too. Not to far from the office, and its NOT in the Town Center. And it's cheap :)

    (4)
  • Tony j.

Phenomenal bowls! They are a great healthy alternative. The short ribs smell great, and taste great for the most part, however they are a little tough. I think Pollo Tropical started Tropichop bowls because of this place. Try the original here, first! Get their between 11:30 and 11:45 for lunch to get a good table and avoid the rush. A couple of outdoor tables for good weather days.

This place is the land of contradiction. They bill themselves as Korean BBQ (which I am no expert on) but where is the Kimchi? Really, they should call themselves Grilled Meat on Rice. You cannot get a Flame Broiled hamburger, hot dog, chicken or fish sandwich so that name if definitely misleading. That aside, what they do is a tasty alternative to traditional fast food. I'm not a big veggie fan and have not even tried them, thus no comment. I've had the chicken and combo bowls a couple times, and I must say I love the flavor, especially with the Magic sauce. The chicken can be a bit gristly and is usually borderline over cooked. If you do not like the taste of a dirty (in a good way) grill, do not eat here. My experience with the combo bowl was that I can absolutely pass on the beef; it is thin, stringy and destined for a temporary home between your teeth. Are raw green onions that delicious? Am I missing out on something? Take note, that they will put green onion on everything (post cooking) unless you ask otherwise. So, I really want to love the place and I do truly like it and will return but here are a few things that will leave you feeling like you only want to be a "friend." It is small and can get really crowded and loud at lunch. The line will get in the way of you trying to fill or refill your drink and the napkin dispensers (all two of them) are something to loath. They remind me of the little dispensers of square toilet tissue my elementary school had installed (i.e. frustrating as can be). Furthering the dining experience is that when you get a "bowl" they hand you the bowl, all alone, no tray. Not a big deal until you try to eat with the flimsy little plastic forks. As you knife-lessly battle the gristle, the likelihood of spilling your tasty morsels over the side and onto the table are high, make that very high. Eating here takes careful hand/eye coordination and patience. The final insult comes from the religious music playing overhead. If I was thinking of converting or needed spiritual uplifting, I'd go to church or join a cult. Finally, regarding the price, it is ok, nothing out of line with most current lunch spots and I'm surprise they can actually cover their pseudo-swank location (really, it use to be cow pasture and titanium mines). If the Don Yang Inn in Wahiawa, HA can deliver a plate of true Korean BBQ goodness for $6.50, why can't someone on the mainland do it? I know this sounds like lots of complaining, but the Flame Broiler really is a nice, affordable diversion, absolutely worth a try. I just wish they would address all the little things.

The chicken veggie bowl is great. I love that this place is healthy and affordable. For two meals it was around $14.00. I am definitely going back.

The Korean short ribs r great! Fast inexpensive quality food option! I wish they have sriracha chili sauce but... That's the only thing missing.

  • Andie T.

Cheap, tasty and healthy...what's not to love? Chicken or beef, with or without veggies, with or without green onions over brown or white rice. Nothing fried. No MSG. Your mom will be proud. And for six bucks?!?! Fuggedaboutit...and don't forget the magic sauce.

    (4)
  • Cristina V.

Came back 2-3 other times. Still consistently delicious! The white rice is kinda dry... I usually prefer the taste of white to brown, but here, the brown rice is better.
