Now I have seen this place a couple times now. Heck I even pasted it a time or two. Today I stopped in to check this place out. Now that was that a boo boo. The place is nice and by the time I got there the lunch rush was over if there was one. The young lady that sat me and took care of me did a fine job. She was helpful and you will be surprised how much attention you get when you are the only one in the place. I looked at the menu and decided on the pork maduno or what they call Tapa Madrilena. In my words it is called hammered pork loin with some pan seared potatoes. the meat had a descent flavors to it. The cold salsa they put over the potatoes was pretty tasty. It was a roasted red pepper salsa kind of. In all it wasn't that good and maybe I'll try them again down the road.

I decided to give this new place a second try before doing a review. Our first attempt we did not actually ever get our food. We ordered and were brought two dishes that were not what we ordered so we sent them on their way to their proper tables and after an hour waiting for our tapas, we finally got an admission from the waitress that she had lost our order so we left to try this again another day. That waitress is no longer there from what we understand, and knowing there are a lot of kinks that have to be worked out with new restaurants we decided to go back for another try. This time we waited an hour and a half, but only had one order improperly delivered to our table and finally got our own food to try. We tried the tapa of shrimp and chicken kabob and really enjoyed the flavors but they were cooked just a little too long and therefore too dry. The fresh veges on the side however were perfect. We had also ordered one entree to share with the idea of ordering another tapa and dessert to experience more items on the menu. We actually received two orders of the same entree, shrimp and scallops. rather than just the one to share as we had requested, but since we had waited so long we decided to eat and pay for the two identical entrees and skip ordering anything else. The seafood was way overcooked, rubbery, and lacking flavor. There was a bed or white rice in the middle of the plate and some sauce that was just drizzled around the plate that may have helped if there was just more of it. They did offer to try to get a discount when we let them know it was not cooked properly, but we were ready to just pay the bill and leave by the time we finally finished. Another unfortunate part of the dinner experience is that the bread, which is actually really delicious, came out after our entrees. Having a little bread while waiting may have made the lengthy delay a little more tolerable. Our final disappointment in this new place is the fact that you cannot order a panini after 4:00 p.m. We would have liked to give a sandwich a try too, but we were there during dinner time so we could not. Personally, I would like to see this place succeed, but there are a lot of improvements that will have to be made for me to return.

My friend help build the place, we work in construction, so he told me to go in when it opened. The interior is brand new as well as the facade outside. My friend introduced me to the owner and he asked me what we would like to order. I am the adventurous type so i handed him the menu and told him to surprise me. I am a HUGE fan of tapas, and have tried them all over the east and west coast so i know my stuff. The owner is from Madrid and his wife is costa rican, bonus points in my book because my gf and my mother are from there. The first course was a cheese and chorizo platter. It was amazing for me because he imports most of his ingredients from spain so it extra delish and authentic. Next was calamari with a potato salad garnish. I am not a huge fan of calamari but the garnish was superb. Next was a pork dish in an amazing sauce that was delicious to sop up with the bread. Then came the mussels. I love seafood and this did not disappoint at all. The white wine sauce was to die for, again, sopping up with bread. So, I highly recommend this place, tapas are excellent and authentic. You have to bring your own wine at this point but thats not a particularly bad thing since most places mark up their bottles. Give this place a try, especially if you are looking for old world style tapas as their name suggests

This is a terrific new addition to Jacksonville's restaurant landscape. Excellent Spanish fare, great service. Three tapas plates are an ample meal for two people. We especially like the grilled shrimp and chicken on skewers, roasted potatoes with chili sauce, and the Nutella cheesecake. Reasonably priced. A very pleasant place for lunch or dinner.

We live in SPR and this was our first visit. Excellent food, and very attentive service. The gazpacho was delicious, as was the vegetarian lasagna. We will be back for the vegetarian paella, that the chef said she would be happy to create. Another wonderful restaurant in downtown Jacksonville.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
