This review is lonnnng overdue but I just joined the Yelp community and I'd be wrong if I didn't give this place it's proper due. I would say this is one of the best if not the best Caribbean joint I've been to. The oxtail is excellent , The curry Chicken is excellent, The curry shrimp is excellent, The homemade lemon aid is good,. They stay business but well worth the wait. Can't go wrong here

I have been to two different locations for Sunrise Caribbean and have been happy at both places. The flavors are great and portions are huge. The beef stew is by far my favorite dish but I also get the Goat or Chicken Curry when I want something a little more crazy. My son loves the meat pies.

Gotta play some music just to write... Konshens - Represent This place is so freaking good. The food gives you strength and energy. They have the beautiful decor that draws you in. The dim lighting automatically makes you feel at home (or at least like you are a welcomed guest into someone else's home). Stroll through the menu and peak over your shoulder at what others are getting. It ALL looks and smells great. Portions huge and extremely tasty. You will always have nice left overs. I tried to conquer the plate of oxtails. Every tasty piece fell off the bone and the sauce swerved nicely with the rice and pea and the cabbage. Yuh wan man fi cook a propa pot - Fine...beautiful ...sexy man working the front desk. I peeped around the corner and I saw more men putting on aprons. I love seeing men in the kitchen - esecially when good food is coming out. The food is worth the travel.

As soon as you walk in the door you can smell the wonderfull aromas of what awaits you. Butter tender oxtails with peas and rice, Tender shreds of flavorful cabbage..and don't forget the dumpling but make sure to eat it properly, Jamaican style which is sliced into slivers and put in the juices of the meat so that they soak up the sauce and become tender. Excellent curry chicken and delicious macaroni and cheese with some really unique seasonings in it. Accompany it with a ginger/pineapple soda. The staff is friendly and the kitchen is spotless.

Really good Jamaican food, get the Jamaican Jerk Chick. I ate there two days in a row and haven't tried anything else yet. It is pretty filling and fresh. The place is quite divey, but good.

Pretty good oxtail! Would have never came for it wasn't for fellow yelpers. The oxtail actually had a good amount meat. I will probably skip the rice that has the beans and just get the regular yellow rice.

First time visit for the family and I, and of course the food is EXCELLENT!!!!! The wife had an Esckovitch (not sure I spelled that right) fish, which she stated was spicy right where it's supposed to be. Our daughter, who's celebrating her 11th birthday had the oxtail with rice and peas. She enjoyed it thoroughly. Our eldest son, had the stew beef, also with rice and peas. He absolutely LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED his food!! He always wants more!!! His stomach is like, no scratch that, it is BEYOND a bottomless well!!! Our youngest boy had the stew beef with white rice. He really enjoyed his food as well. Last but not least, is yours truly, I had the jumbo stew beef with rice and peas. Usually when I eat Caribbean food, I usually get either jerk chicken, stew chicken, or curry chicken, all with rice and peas. This was my first time having stew beef, and it melted in my mouth, just like butter on warm toast! I would definitely recommend this little gem to anyone looking for down home, authentic, Caribbean cuisine that makes you wish you could hop on a plane and head back to the islands! :) Make sure you stop in and give this place a try. You'll be so glad you did. I promise. :)

Hard to miss this brightly painted building at the corner of Edgewood and 5th Street. Step up to the counter and place your order (to-go, or dine in) and in short order your food will be ready. Oxtail, goat, chicken, beef, and fish are the main items on the menu, and homemade drinks like cucumber juice, carrot juice, Irish moss and sorrell are also available. Portions run large, come hungry. I had the large stew beef for lunch, and there was enough for two meals.
