Steamin Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

I wanted to try so many items on the menu it was hard to decide. We split the shrimp and crab cigars for an appetizer and ordered burgers for dinner. Everything was delicious including the onion rings and Cajun fries. Next time I want to try the shrimp and grits or the fish and chips. Can't wait. The vanilla shake for dessert was a perfect ending. They had a nice beer and wine list and mixed drinks as well

This last visit to Steamin, on Free Comic Book Day with my niece, didn't leave that great of a taste in my mouth. The waiter was all over the place; in the kitchen, behind the bar, and left us for long periods of time. which is not the greatest when you had questions about items on the menu. When he finally came back with our drinks, he spilled my niece's soda and we were lucky that he didn't destroy her phone. He seemed really distracted and running around like a chicken with his head cut off. I'm not sure if they were understaffed on this particular day, but if that was the case, they may need to think about beefing up their shifts. Due to his running all over the place, it took forever for our food to come out. Luckily, we had ordered an appetizer or I would have gotten up and left. The food is good. I have no complaints about it. This time around I got the boneless wings in Steamin's version of buffalo sauce. I feel like they used as minute amount of sauce as possible. It was still tasty, but you could be a little more liberal with it. I've been into Steamin Jax a handful of times now, and it's all right. I don't seek them out, and usually only stop when I'm in the area. There's nothing that memorable about the food, except that it's pretty overpriced for the fare that they offer. Don't get me wrong, it's good, but you can get the same quality of food for much cheaper at many other local restaurants around town. For myself and my niece, it was close to a $35 meal. A bit ridiculous for bar and hamburger joint fare.

It seems that the restaurant is closed for good. Sad very sad. I liked this place a lot

The steamer burger did not wow us at all. It had the consistency of meatloaf and it was extremely bland. The wheat kaiser roll had more flavor than the burger. We also found the ranch fries tasted more like regular fries. You had to believe the ranch powder was there before you could taste it. Portion size was decent and the price was too. The chocolate shake was very good. And their breakfast menu looks inviting. We may be back for that but I think we'll leave the steamers for the rest of you. If I pay for beef, I want taste it.

I went to Steamin a while back with my wife and son. We have all seen the building in the Big Lots parking lot change hands a dozen times so I was hesitant to check it out. But I'm glad I did. Walking in, the restaurant was clean and decorated nicely. We got there about 11:00am and we were seated promptly by the wait staff and each person we spoke to were friendly and accommodating. Our waitress took a few minutes to go over the menu with us and recommended a few of her favorite items. The food was good, it was hot and freshly prepared. I got wings and a burger. The wings are very large, and I appreciated the the style of keeping the wings together instead of separating them into two pieces. Would I go back? Eh, maybe for a change of pace. I certainly wouldn't avoid it.

I will tell you right away that Monday night is not the night to come to Steamin Jax for dinner. They have a DJ that comes in on Monday and the music was super LOUD. Not even bar level loud, but club level LOUD. It was so loud we couldn't hear each other, we had to strain to hear the waitress, and I couldn't even hear myself think. It's a good thing our food came out so fast because hubby and I were seriously about to get up and walk about because we just couldn't stand the noise. Not only was the music playing so loud, but they had some sort of bingo going on, so the DJ was calling out numbers really loudly over the already loud music. Ugggg. The waitress said the manager had asked him multiple times to turn the music down and that every time he would, but several minutes later he would just turn it back up again. I'm sorry, but if I'm in charge and I'm hiring a DJ to come in every Monday night and he's not going to do what I ask, then I'm not going to be hiring him to come back again. Anyway... as for the food and the restaurant.... Love the way the restaurant is decorated. Really bright colours and it's nice and sleek. Cool atmosphere to be in. They have a bar that opens up to an outside area so the bartender can serve patrons both inside and outside the restaurant. I ordered the Fat Dog which is half beef and half pork, so essentially it's a type of sausage. I ordered it with just cheese. It came out on a nice toasted bun and the dog was thick, fat, and juicy. It definitely one of the best hot dogs I've ever had. It was so large I couldn't finish it all. I would definitely order this again! Hubby and I also got an order of the fries with chili and cheese to share. I can't say I was very fond of the fries or the chili. The fries were thin and were cooked crispy. Neither hubby or I are fans of crispy fries. I may order them again and ask them to fry them less so they don't come out so crispy, but i'll just stick with the cheese next time. The chili wasn't bad, it just wasn't all that great. It's not something I'd want to have again. As I said, our food came out within 5 minutes of ordering and it is a good thing because we were both really annoying with how loud the music was. We both ate really fast just so we could get the heck out of there. That's why I'm giving this place only 3 stars. We didn't have the time to really sit, talk, and enjoy our meal. We just wanted to eat and get out. Not the best dining experience. We will return again one day, just not on a Monday night when all that noise is happening. Hopefully next time will be a better experience and I can update this review and bump up their star level.

Only giving three stars for one reason. I have only eaten one thing here. The steam burger is very good. The fries, which do NOT come with the burger and are almost $4 were a very small portion, wife and I expected to be able to share, we did, but barely. It was about the amount that should come with a burger for $2. I want to try the dogs and some wings. Once I do I will update the review. Atmosphere is a nice change and trendy. Full bar. Large menu selection with lots of options. These guys could likely hit 4 stars.

What a pleasant surprise! I mean, I guess i shouldn't be too surprised, as of course I read the reviews, but when you walk in the place screams "CHAIN." Not necessarily in a bad way, it was clean and with vibrant colors and a minimalistic feel. We were a little creeped out by the clown in the middle of the restaurant, but he was making balloon animals for the kids, LOL! We decided to take a seat at the bar, away from the clown, and our bartender Kyle was quick to get us menus and take out drink order. And wow. What a beer selection for a hot dog and burger joint. They had Bold City, Engine 15, Pinglehead and I want to say Intuition as well... So we ordered a few Pinglehead imperial reds and checked out the menu. I had been seriously craving a chili cheese dog so I went with the Fat Dog (beef and pork blend dog, more like a sausage), add Mama's chili and onions and Mr. Yelp, his new nickname :), ordered the Philly cheese steamer. We added a side of Cajun fries and anxiously awaited our entrees. They came out quick, fast and hot! My chili cheese dog was good... the fat dog is where it's at. It could have used just a tad more chili, but I do like them big and messy... or could have been that the dog was so big. Good buns too! Then I went for a bit of the Philly cheese. I didn't want to give it back. This is going to sound a bit weird, but I thought it tasted like (and I know this is an oxymoron) gourmet hamburger helper. Just in the way the meat and cheese were all steamed together. Bits would drop out of his sandwich and I would sneak bites. It was so freaking good. Definitely ordering this on the next visit, which Adam is already talking about. Kyle was funny and personable, quick with drinks too. Met one of the owners, Vosha (sp?) and she let us know that have a suds club too. It's a monthly meet up (not on their website) and looking for the welcome email for that. And of course I have to mention the Fat Dog Challenge, which consists of eating Two of our Steam Burgers, two Fat Dogs, two Doggy Dogs, four wings, three pounds of sweet potato and Idaho potato fries, a banana split and your choice of a shake or malt, all in one hour. Adam is going to start "practicing" for it. :) All in all, we were sold when we saw the beer taps.

I like to come here while I'm waiting for my car to get washed next door. Great craft beer selection for a little place. I always get a steamed burger and it is definitely different. I like the unique taste but don't think it's the best burger in town.

Not your typical Burger Spot!! So if you haven't tried the Steamed Burger, well it is a must have!! From the Meat and Cheese BOTH cooked with the heat from steam makes for the Juiciest, Gooiest Cheeseburger that you've ever had the pleasure of putting in your face!! I just found out that they are now serving breakfast 7 Days a week!!!

Amazing WINGS. Best, juiciest, biggest damn wings you've ever seen. When I picked it up, and split it into three pieces (cuz they give you the WHOLE wing) juice came pouring out. No... not grease. Juice. It was pure wing nirvana up in there. The skin was cooked to crisp perfection before being slathered in the sauce. And the sauce is different, kind of like your classic BBQ, but with a tiny bit of buffalo thrown in for kick. Fries were good, I liked the cajon spice on them, though it isn't at all spicy. Nice outdoor seating, a bar, NFL Ticket, and WiFi. They have all kinds of cocktails made with beer. Beertinis, and other cool looking stuff. The beer selection is respectable, with great local brews and even an O'douls for me, the preggie lady. I wasn't a fan of the burger, as it isn't my gig, but I suspect if this is the way you like your burger(the steam thing), it's perfect. A regional thing you know? Hubby got the Fat Dog. He liked it. Oh! and my favorite thing about this place??? They use a lot of ingredients made right here in Jacksonville. I really dig it when businesses support each other and our local economy by going local. Went back again the next day and ordered 20 wings to go for the family. $21.99. Can't beat that. 5 stars for surprising the hell out of me. I didn't expect such delicious wings from a place where steam is the thing.

I can't say enough good things about Steamin' Jax! The steamin' burgers are so delicious and unique! I love the cheese that they use! The atmosphere is super fun and great for kids! I also really love the shrimp and grits! And Blue Bell is my favorite brand of ice cream. So I consider this place a great stop for a casual dinner out!

In the time since the first I wrote this Steamin' has seen many changes in menu. More and more options added, most of which are delicious. What's more important is that the burger size increased and are still as amazing as ever. Small businesses, take note, Steamin' is doing it right. Now to train for that Fat Boy challenge...

I really like the atmosphere of the place. We sat at the bar, since it was gorgeous outside. I've passed this place a bunch of times, and wanted to check it out. I think they were a little understaffed or going through a shift transition, which is understandable. But it did take a little while for our order to get taken. We just ordered two cheeseburgers and shared a large fry and it was pretty good, like another reviewer said, it does just kind of taste like meatloaf. But for the price it wasn't bad and it was filling. Not sure if I will go back, but I did like the atmosphere.

Mumbo wings are great, but be warned, it is the full wing!! 5 wings here equals 10 elsewhere. They also have best beer selection in mandarin. Service is hit or miss, but the food is great. Two words, Nathan's hotdogs.

Steamin' Jax is a place I wouldn't come back to. The food was ok-ish. There were flies around our food. And it was $50 for 4 people. So yeah, quite unreasonable pricing. They had the large door open to the outside because one person wanted to sit out there, so it was hot and humid. So pretty much, not a good place...

Knowing ahead of time that this joint is a far cry from a health junkies paradise, i ventured out alone for this one, without mom in tow. I mean...I workout religiously, and for the most part I keep on the straight and narrow as far as eating right is concerned, but sometimes I just want a freakin' BURGER. Like today. I've heard and read such positive things about Steamin Jax, from their food, atmosphere, etc. that it's been on my list to try for the longest. It's located on the corner of San Jose Blvd. and Old St. Augustine Road in the Mandarin area, behind the Starbucks. Atmosphere: Bright, fun, charming and retro. Loved the oldies music playing in the backround, reminded me of my dad. The round table in the middle is for those partaking in "The Fat Boy Challange," a food challenge that so far only 1 man has beaten. The entire joint was spotless, from the tables to the floors, which I appreciated. The large outside patio is also a bonus, as it would serve as a perfect chill and hang-out spot for happy hour. And Allie A. was right....this place has got some BEER. Overall, nice digs! Food: I was torn between the Doggy-Dog (all-beef hot dog on fresh baked roll) with homemade chili...and the Cheesy Steamer Burger (Fresh ground beef steamed with creamy aged cheddar cheese served on a fresh baked Kaiser roll). After much deliberation, I opted for the latter, with fries and a side of ranch, as I wanted to check out the "steamed burger" that they're known for. The food came out in a jiffy, and I noticed on my first bite that the burger patty itself was juicy and flavorful. The difference between this and a regular burger that you'd find at most places, is that this burger is seasoned...how do i say...in a similar fashoin to a meatloaf. I LOVE meatloaf, so this proved the perfect choice for me. I'll pass on the ranch dip next time, it tasted too much like fat-free ranch out of a bottle. Now, the fries? They're hand-cut and made fresh, and you can tell. Nice texture, not overloaded with salt, and was the perfect companion to my tasty burger. Service: Dria, my server, was an absolute doll. At first glance, with all the combinations and options, the menu can be a little complex, but she mapped it out for me to a tee, and made the ordering process much easier. She came by various times throughout the meal to make sure I was doing well, and not only refilled my drink, but put it in a to-go cup with a straw without me so much as asking. That's what I call service. In Closing: They also have great happy hour prices on food and drinks from 3-7 p.m. during the week, and I was ecstatic to find out that they do events weekly to support the community and other local businesses. Always a plus! I LOVE this joint, I'll be back to check out their breakfast menu, and of course, I recommend Steamin' Jax to one and all!

All I got say this place is awesome. Family owned friendly service. Place kinda looks like a modern twist on a malt shop. I've been here a few times and the food is consistently good. Wings a big and crispy. Mambo sauce is amazing . The burgers are steamed and juicy. Hot dogs have great toppings. I recommend this place to anyone with a big appetite for good food.

I was actually a little timid to try this place thinking that I would be wasting my time. Certainly not the case. I purchased the cheesy steamer with a side of fries. Both were good and I really enjoyed the fries. This was my first time eating a steamed burger. Very interesting. It's not at all like a regular grilled burger. It has the texture of meatloaf, and it feels as if the burger has been pumped with air. It's fluffly, juicy, cheesy (if you get cheese), and (people claim) that it's actually much healthier to eat a hamburger this way. Although I wouldn't come to this place if you're trying to be healthy. The second time I was there I had their vanilla milkshakes and it was so freaking good. That will be my go to drink anytime I come here. Their chicken wings are good too. Not your small wings; they are the full size wing. The buffalo sauce is good and not to spicy, but has a little kick to it. I want to try the hot dogs, turkey burger, and chili that I've heard were all good. I also really enjoyed the decor. It's got a very retro/modern feel to it. They also have a bar which was a nice addition.

Me and my family love, love, love this place!!!! They are very friendly and very accommodating. The food is always cooked exactly how we ask for it and its served up as it comes out. My brother always ends up ordering 20 wings and they all come out hot,not a single one colder than the other and their wings are huge!! Def worth the price. As a family I recommend just getting the fat boy challenge and splitting the food. It's a good deal and it shaves a few bucks off the bill when you add it up..... Hmmm I'm craving this place as I type about it. In any case this place is def worth a try atleast once :-)

We always try to support family establishments knowing personally the hard work, sacrifice, dedication, & determination involved in running such a business. We came on family night & I was glad to see it was busy. It was my first time trying out a cheesy steamer or even trying out Steamin Jax. The atmosphere was fun with the two clowns making balloon animals & offering face/body paint. Service was busy but a waitress came along & got our drinks. I think the owner took our food orders. Took awhile to receive our food but it was understandable within this context. We both ordered a Steamin Cheesy & an order of large fries with cheese. I also ordered a turtle shake: vanilla shake with chocolate chips, caramel, & walnuts. It wasn't too sweet, just perfect. The burgers were just what ppl have said, very juicy & tender but I couldn't finish it. The fries were good but the cheese itself had a weird grainy texture to them, wasn't a creamy cheeses sauce as I'd hope. Other than that everything was great. Will definitely come back for another session of eats & great service. I gotta come back to try the foot long dog but will do it without the shake so I can devour the whole thing.

Unique spins on American classics, and they pull it off beautifully. Great flavors, enthusiastic service, and the atmosphere is spot on for the food they serve. I you want to try something new and really cool, try this place. You may have to come back a few times to sample all the wild items, but it's cheap and it's fun!

Went with my family a couple of days ago and was pleasantly surprised by Steamin. I got a hot dog with cole slaw--there isn't much one can do to ruin or even dress up a slaw dog--but they managed to do the latter. I loved that the hot dog was snappy and juicy and the coleslaw was crunchy, creamy and spicy, all at the same time. Now, I must preface my review of the burger with stating that I once lived up in Connecticut for a temporary work assignment. If we were going out for a burger, we would drive out to Meriden to get a steam burger. That being said, with a name like Steamin', this place had a LOT to live up to--and did! Steam burgers are juicy, not greasy. They are center stage on a bun, no matter what other toppings are on it--with the sole exception being that the steamed cheese can (and should) be it's flavor rival. Each bite a debate between which is superior (the burger or the cheese), eventually resigning to the fact that the pair is just meant to be enjoyed together. Up in CT, if you were against eating beef (as my husband was at the time), you could get a steamed cheese sandwich. Not sure if you could do that here, but, I might try and ask next time to go with a bowl of their beefy chilli. At the end of our meal we got a banana split for the table. My mom and dad were concerned when they saw the banana peel at the bottom, but our server kindly explained that it was how they could caramelize the banana and serve it hot with the ice cream. One bite and our peel concerns were forgotten. To put it plainly, my one year old niece kept saying what was in all of our heads: "Mmmm...more!" I like this place, and will come back for more. I like that they have some foodie aspirations (complete with food history on their website), and yet, it isn't overpriced or pretentious. This is defiantly a great addition to Jacksonville!

I really like these kind of places in Jax... -Locally owned and operated (whoo hoo!) -House-made food AND Signature recipe's! (love this!) -Fantastic, quick service -Bright, happy interior -Niche attribute to menu (steamed burgers---very unique, and tasty) -Food Challenge....and their 'Fat Boy Challenge' looks to be unbeatable! Lol! This spot is brand new and I know that they are working out the glitches. There is a bit of confusion with exactly 'How' to order your food...Steamin Jax will work this out in time I am sure. The grub here is fun, comfort food and most everything here house-made and a lot of the significant items are locally purchased. I really enjoyed the homemade chilli. (Owner's recipe) It is almost the consistency of a goulash -- which I like...a lot!! I will be back to try one of their magnificent-looking Fat Dogs and sundae's to be sure.

I ate in here right before their grand opening. I was very impressed with the service and the hamburger was delicious. It's a new way of cooking. They actually steam the hamburger, it comes out well done, but it is very juicy. My employee was very happy with his meal too. The waitress will re-fill your drinks when needed and stop by regularly to see if You need anything. Love the sweet potato fries!! To top it off I tried one their milk shakes and it was quite tasty. I plan to come back and try something new the next time.

We went to Steamin recently and had a pretty good time there. It's a bright and cheerful joint and the service was really great. I had the sunrise (the one with an egg on top) and hubbo had the cheese steak one. Both were quite messy but tasty. We also enjoyed an order of wings as appey and their banana split as dessert. I enjoyed the food, but not quite a 'fan' yet. I think mainly because I got a few mouthful of nothing but cheese, somehow it was clumped, and it was super messy food for a burger. However, I can see why it is popular because the food was tasty, pricing decent and good service. The wings were huge and the dessert was a bit strange as the banana was left in its peel. Overall, not quite a fan yet, but will probably be back to try other items on the menu.

It is always exciting to find a new place for breakfast and Steamin is an undiscovered treasure. Steamin is best known for its steamed hamburgers and other entrees. However, it also happens to be a great place for breakfast. Located in the middle of a parking lot for a strip mall for Good Will; Big Lots; etc. and Bubbles Car Wash on the other side it sits all by itself. Seating is either outside on the porch overlooking San Jose Blvd. or inside the rustic log type cabin, it is a great place for families, couples and groups. Breakfast entrees include homemade buttermilk waffles and pancakes. The French Toast uses home baked bread soaked in a vanilla cream custard. The resulting French toast is fluffy and sweat. A side dish of the cheesy eggs compliments many of the alternative entrees. The fluffy homemade bread is used included with many of the other entrees and is way above what is usually provided for breakfast in other establishments. The atmosphere is down home roadside cafe. It is unpretentious and inviting. The breakfast menu is large than one would expect from what is offered from a traditional burger joint. But that is the attraction of Steamin. The steamed burgers are another plus but that is for another separate visit and review.

I said I'd be back for more... I didn't realize it would be in the same week. Tonight I tried a cup of the chili, a Cheesy Steamer, and a rootbeer float. I wasn't ravenous when I went in, but a little hungry. Figured I'd order just enough for a top-off. I almost couldn't finish it. The chili (without beans) was really tasty. Tasty enough that my server reminded me that I didn't need to eat the glazing off of the serving cup. The Cheesy Steamer was good, as well. I ordered it with jalapenos and grilled onions, and dressed it with a little mustard, salt, pepper, and horseradish at the table. As with my last visit, the bun was really good. Lightly toasted, crisp without being crunchy. The root beer float fits the somewhat-of-a-malt-shop theme Steamin has working. (The music selection is a channel called "Malt Shop Oldies.") I see that there are a couple of "didn't like it" reviews. Everybody has theiir own grading system, and I respect those opinons. I don't agree with 'em, but that's another story.

first off they have a good beer selection and really nice waiters. the crab cigars are okay but the chicken ones are much better. they remind me of toquitos. I love the wings they are good size . the burgers are juicy and the fries are crisp. I go for the beer wings and awesome bartenders. .

Nice locally owned business with very friendly staff. Best and biggest wings around Love the Mumba hot sauce. Sweet with just the right amount of heat. Burgers are very good as well. Husband loves the shrimp and grits. The food is good but we go there for the ambiance. Staff makes you feel like family. We have become regulars. Also have trivia on Thursday nights.

I was pretty apprehensive about a steamed burger but our waiter Eric was so thorough about what to expect. I had the burger with bacon, sunny side up egg, and fried potatoes and it was so hot, flavorful, and juicy. They have a great beer list for a smaller place as well. Our server suggested we try the fried pickles and they didn't disappoint; cut thick but battered nice and crispy. I found myself pleasantly surprised and kicking myself for being too pretentious to try sooner. Our server Eric was so helpful and really made our experience great. Obviously their menu isn't comparable to somewhere like Bistro Aix but their fare, service, and price point this certainly deserves 5 stars according to our visit.

My mom and I had heard for months how amazing steamin' is so we decided to try it one day when we went out for lunch. We walked in today around 2:30 and the place was empty except for a lady behind the take out counter and two people sitting at the bar. The man was drinking a beer and the young lady had her eyes glued to the tv but they took a second to glance at us. After standing there trying to figure out if it was an order at a counter or a seat yourself place we decided to just leave. As we went to walk out the door (after standing there for about 5 minutes) the young lady at the bar finally said we can sit wherever we would like. I'm a patient person but they weren't at all busy, just very rude. I'm sad to say I didnt get to try the food and I won't be going back to try it...

Read the prior reviews and it sounded good. Tried it today for lunch. The Cheeseburger was absolutely disgusting. Picked it up to take a bite and half the patty fell out of the soggy bun. From that point on it was a fork only situation. a greasy mess. If they were giving them away for free I would not try and consume another. Will not go back.

Wow. I'm not a man that says that often. The most you would usually receive from is, "thats not bad." The first bite from the steak and cheese steamer gave me a moment. I just closed my eyes and went to a happy place. I had a "wow" moment. My beautiful lady looked on in envy as she notes my reaction. Pictures can be seen on her yelp page, check them out, she's your friendly wonderful local Yelp community manager. Allie A. yelp.com/user_details?us… I know a good steak and cheese sandwich and they have done it well. I hope to patronize this establishment much more and partake on their wide selection on local beers.

Fun place to eat. Nice server. Interesting concept of steaming hamburgers. The entree was good - the bread was too big for the patty. However they completely made up for it by serving... The greatest butter pecan milkshake and vanilla malt in the history of humans! Plus they have a food challenge which instantly makes them amazing.

I can't believe I didn't try this place out sooner! I know I'd had a few friends of mine tell me about it, but I just couldn't believe a place with the name "Steamin" could have been that good! I pictured some place more akin to a Cracker Barrel, than what it is. First off, it has one of my favorite beers on tap, Intuition King Street Stout. That, in and of itself, gives it at least three stars! Everyone was friendly and welcoming, which is definitely a plus in my book! Well...in my phone, since I don't actually have a book. Correction, I have a book, I just don't have a...nevermind. Anyways! I had the Cheesy Steamer with sweet potato fries, which were delightfully crisp with just enough substance to give it a bit of chew. This was the first time I had a burger that was steamed, and I look forward to try it again. It did make the bun a little bit soggy, but hell, grease from other burgers do that as well, so no big loss.

I don't often give 5 stars, but Steamin' gets 5 stars from me. I had the Steak N' Cheese and the cajun fries, loved it. This is a place I will most definitely return to!

This was my first trip to Steamin Jax. I started with the cheesy steamer, all I can say, there is a reason why I've never heard of a steamed cheeseburger...not good. The bun was more firm than the burger which caused it to mush/squish out of the bun. The meat had no texture, well maybe like a thick baby food. I can say, the cajun fries were tasty, and the service was good, but those two things will not bring me back.

Great food. Airy atmosphere. Fun nights of music. Great customer service. Try the Southerntier Creme Brulee stout on tap. The hints of vanilla are yummm

I have talked to a lot of people have gone here. Their visit was better then mine for sure. I know they have a lot of different beers and all. Not being a drinker this doesn't hold much in my book. I did read that the steamed burgers were really good and so with the hot dogs. I guess I made the wrong choice when I went with an old favorite of mine. The hot dog with chili and cheese with some slaw slung on top. First it took a longtime to get my food. I read all the reviews and checked my facebook too. Then the hot dog was burnt and the chili tasted canned. Having 5 kids we know what canned chili taste like. I will say that the fries were tasty. Nice thin and quite crispy with a fair amount of salt. I don't care what it will do to my heart, arteries. I like salt on the 6 fries that I normal eat. All ion all it was not that good but I will return again but I will both have to be hungry and right outside to return.

Ehhh. Had the burger,.. huge disappointment. Meat is steamed and tastes like meatloaf, its their thing, but I didn't care for it. Fries are good though and the place is really clean. Waitress was really nice but the pregnant bartender is rude and chit chats too much with the manager. Its annoying to have to hear the staffs conversation while you are trying to eat.

We decided to give this place a try yesterday. When we walked in, the dining area was packed and it smelled great. The staff was very nice - the owner was walking around helping out and talking to people. Then the food came. Turn-off #1, the burger was falling apart when you tried to pick it up - dry roll and the burger had a crumbly meatloaf type texture. Turn-off #2, the mass of cheddar cheese on top. I love all types of cheese but this was very sharp - almost sour and a curdled/separated, greasy mess. There was nothing creamy and gooey about it. Turn-off #3, the burger itself had a garlicky flavor. If ground beef is good, you should only need salt and pepper. Turn-off #4, The fries. They were very thin, which was fine but they tasted burnt and yet were still soggy. Sorry, this place was not for us.

I cannot believe these reviews! This was the most disgusting food my husband and I have ever tasted. He got the cheeseburger and I got the chili dog. Neither one of us could get past three bites. The meat tasted sour and had a terrible aftertaste. The hot dog looked raw and had white chunks of fat in it. I could not eat it. How do you screw up a hot dog??! It was horrible. We paid for our food but left entire meals on the table and the waiter couldn't have cared less. It took us an entire day to get over the trauma of eating this rancid food.

I was watching the T.V. one morning when they was interviewing the owner. That the day I stop by and order the steaming burger , fries and a soda. I felt in love with the place and the food. Service was very good and the food delicious. Came stray home and I Told my wife. The burgers are steam and that is why they are so good. The veggie plate is very good. The hot dog are outstanding and if you have the craving for chicken wings they are big. Everything delicious.

This is one great burger and the steaming method releases the fat 3-4 tablespoons of fat. Yes this burger is not going to look char grilled as it is steamed. But the burger is juicy and flavorful, unlimited toppings, great bun love the wheat. my husband loves the fat dogs and orders 2 and is very happy with it. The staff is awesome and the service is excellent. I must try the wings as other customers are always saying how good they are.

Excellent menu! Excellent food. I plan on making this my neighborhood place for family and meeting friends. My very 'particular' mom-in-law LOVED this burger. When she visits from ATL this is #1 destination. They are new,so they are working out the 'bugs' regarding service and speed of getting the order out. Be patient they'll get their groove.

There are some places that I tend to push to the back burner because it isn't one of my higher priorities. Steamers was one of those place. I was able to snag a $20 voucher for $10, so Steamers shot up my list pretty quickly. I am glad I didn't wait longer to give them a chance. When we walked in my eyes were drawn to the wall of shame. The very moment I heard of the Fat boy challenge I became interested in this place. I like a little challenge, especially when it comes to food. The restaurant is very open with a indoor/outdoor bar towards the back. Plenty of beers on tap and great happy hour specials. Our server was name Alaijah and she was awesome. She gave us a detail description of their main menu items which helped us narrow down our choices. My wife went with the fat dog with chili. I went with the cheesy steamer and a fat dog as well. We also decided to split a large cajun fry (FYI: it's 14oz, 3lbs is the amount for the challenge). The food came out fairly quickly and of course steamin. My chessy steamer came with sharp cheddar, grilled onions and green peppers. They offer many topping that you can choose to accessorize your burger and dogs to your liking. The texture of the bigger was different but delicious. The bun was soft with a slight crunch from being toasted. The fat dogs tasted just like the ones served up in DC. I wasn't a fan of the toasted roll, certain things just taste better not toasted. The Cajun fries were crispy and delicious. They came with just the right amount of seasoning. I am so glad I got to try this place out. The staff is really friendly and will have a conversation with you besides just taking your order. They offer a theme night most days of the week as well. We went on family night but they have community, trivia etc nights as well. The beer selection is impressive and the food is awesome. I have begun training for the fat boy challenge, this face is to pretty to go on the wall of shame.

Food good. Had the doggy dog. Like the Chilli cheese topping and onions. Cudos with the food. Nice people slow service took for ever for a refill especially after eating jalapeños. Fly flying around kinda made me mad. They have an open bar area half inside half out thinking the flies come from that way. I would come back. Definitely worth a try. Nice decor I like the scene here. Menu is very diverse. Lot of different items. All in all I think they need an extra server on the floor it would help out I think.

This is a really cool place..has a bit of a retro feel and some awesome food! I went here for lunch a few times while in JAX traveling for work. Every time the service was quick and very nice. I usually got the turkey burger. It was crazy juicy and tasted great (hard to do with a turkey burger). They also steam the burgers with the cheese on them...so the cheese is just amazzzzing. The fries are pretty good too..and they give you a ton! I also got a malt one time since I was feelin a sweet desert. Not many places have malts these days..but they did a great job on it!

My child tried two items off the kids' menu and neither suited her. She tried an American steamburger and a grilled cheese sandwich. I thought she was being too picky, so my husband and I tried both. The cheese was not palatable for any of us, so I quickly understood child's qualms. I suppose the cheese is an acquired taste as it is aged and sharp. For many children, who are not adventurous with food choices, it might behoove Steamin' to opt for a standard cheese choice, and perhaps give the option for the adults, too. When you buy a sandwich, it arrives lonely, without any chips or a pickle (unless you purchase fries). For the price of the sandwich, it would be nice to add an inexpensive side to dress it up and feel like you're getting more for your money. Otherwise, the interior decor is lovely, although my husband mentioned something similar to another poster, indicating the renovated space will make a great spot for the next tenant, sooner than later. The outside view from the street wasn't much different from the adjacent Jiffy Lube. It could use a little more to catch the eye of the drivers going by.

Had the Stramin' Burger with the monthly special on top. This month was BBQ sauce and onion strings. Burgers have a nice onion flavor in the meat. We ordered the Idaho fries with cheese on top. Next time I'd like to try not having the cheese as I wasn't crazy about them. The fries tasted very Five Guys esque but the cheese made the fries lose all crunch and crispness. The interior is very modern with nice orange and gray hues. Bar looks like a great spot to hang out with good craft beer selection. Looking forward to sitting at the bar next time and trying he Fat dog plus the wings. Service gives you a few options. To go, fast or full. Fast is order at front and get food brought to you while full is what you'd anticipate in having wait service. Food cake out fast and hot. Looking forward to seeing how it grows and hanging out at the interior/exterior bar.

Since we found Steamin', it's been a weekly dinner spot for my family. The owner is so pleasant and welcoming, as well as the staff. The food is the perfect portion size not to mention delicious. It's a great place to bring your family or have a beer after work. I've had almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed either. I hope Steamin's enjoys many years of success and stays around a long time.

I decided to check Steamin' out after reading the good reviews, and I must say, I am on board! I was honestly surprised at the location...I remember it used to be a Mexican restaurant for years and was slightly scared to see the place. I was SO impressed! It is bright, fun, and impeccably clean. The bar is really cool - one side faces the dining room and the other opens up to the outdoor patio with a sort of sliding garage door. There was plenty of seating, even with a decent crowd at dinner time on a Friday night. My friend ordered the Cheesy Steamer and I ordered the Fat Dog per the waitress' recommendation, and we split a large order of regular fries. I wanted to try the cajun fries, but he wimped out on me...even more reason to go back! My hot dog was nice and crispy, though I wish it had been bigger. I believe the Doggy Dog is much larger, the only difference is that it's all beef instead of a beef and pork combo. So delicious though! And the fries were crispy and hot and salty and....I want more right now just thinking about them! A few more things that I appreciated: (1) They offered several different tea options - the standard sweet and unsweet as well as green and raspberry. I thought this was great as a recovering Diet Coke addict. (2)They also had some yummy-looking apps like fried pickles and a whole bunch of shakes and desserts that I would have loved to try if I weren't on a budget and/or health kick! (3) My meal came out to be about $8, and a little more with tip. That is super reasonable for such good food! I only give 4 stars because I was left more on the hungry side after my meal and expected to be super full from the atmosphere/reviews. That could easily be fixed if you're willing to spend a little more! Finally, this HOTDOG PLACE serves full-fledged BREAKFAST seven days a week! The chicken and waffles stood out to me, as did the french toast. Can't wait to see how the breakfast and lunch menus compare!

Took an old friend of mine there for lunch, it was my 2nd visit. I enjoyed the food, the fries were great, hot and seasoned well. I ordered the beef/pork hotdog. I was a little let down because the other hot dog i had ordered was a foot long, this was just the normal size. At $4 I was expecting a little bit more especially since everything is ala carte. I also ordered a cup of the chili, it was good but could have had a bit more flavor and a little bit more of a bite. I'll go back, I still want to try a burger

Absolutely fantastic brisket. Great flavor and it truly melts in your mouth. I didn't know anything about this place but stumbled in because it was next to the carwash. Perfect decision for lunch and I'll be back.

Have eaten here 3 times and everyone in the party has been very pleased with food and service. The wings are delicious and the whole wing is intact and not broken into segments. And the chili is great too. Love this place!!
