Yummy! I had trout shrimp crab legs hush puppies green beans. Everything was great. They lost a star because they forgot my order of fries which I didn't find out about until after I left.

Service was good, restaurant was clean. Food came out quick. Had Shrimp & Clams w/ Green Beans & Cheese Grits. Food was just okay. Everything was bland. No seasoning, just take a few extra steps & put some basic seasoning in your food.

2 Stars for customer service. They do not answer the phone in a timely manner actually they never answered when I called it just kept ringing. I have ordered their 30 pc shrimp dinner before and I got 24 shrimp. Don't call it a 30 pc shrimp dinner if there is not 30 pc shrimp. They do not listen to the customer. I told them no cocktail sauce they still put cocktail sauce in the bag I wanted extra tartar sauce. I don't know why I let my girlfriend drag me to this place still.

I love this place, I eat here as after as I can. I always get friend shrimp and friend scallops. Always cooked perfect without lots of breading or grease. Love it!

Nothing fancy, menu is on the wall when you walk in and you order at the counter. Be sure and check the chalkboard for the daily special before you order. The fried shrimp were lightly breaded, not greasy, and just right. The scallops and hushpuppies were likewise spot on. The grits were tasty and even better with a little Tabasco sauce. The green beans were pole beans which I normally enjoy, but these tasted canned and I'll skip em next time. Minus one star for the canned beans but if you want a good meal with nothing fancy, this is your kind of place. I'll be back next time I'm in town. You don't get seafood like this in DC.

Great seafood at decent prices. Because you order at counter and make your own drinks, you can save $$ on only a delivery and plate pick up tip. Clean and friendly.

Three stars mainly because I've only ever used the drive-thru at Seafood Express, haven't dined-in. Seafood Express is a great place for fried seafood, plain and simple. They conveniently have a drive-thru as well as a dining room. You can find all the usual suspects here: shrimp, oysters, soft shell crab, clams, a couple different kinds of fish, gator, veggie and starch side items, chowder... a very simple but comprehensive menu. Even options for the fish-haters. I like going here for the "15th/30th of the month" $9.99 fried shrimp platter special. With two sides, hushpups and a MOUNTAIN of crispy fried shrimp, can't beat it. They also put coupons in the Mint Mag and Money Pages usually. The service in the drive-thru can be slow, and I usually have to go park and wait a few (or 10) for them to bring my food out. No matter, because that means it's super fresh and ready to be devoured. Everything I've had (I do switch it up from time to time) has been yummy, fresh with on-point seasoning.... except the clam chowder. I got it once and said never, ever again! The base was super runny and oddly-white, like bright white. The clams... impossible to chew. Not very flavorful, but what it did have was off. I don't mess around with clam chowder. Seafood Express offers above average fried seafood for affordable prices. I'd say skip the chains or the ritzier seafood joints if you want fried seafood, and just go to Seafood Express!

I live in the Atlantic Beach area, so there's plenty of fresh seafood here to keep me happy, but when I am in town and am craving seafood - this is where I go. The food is fresh, service is great, and drive thru is fast. The prices are good considering how much you get and it's fast and fresh. No complaints!

Great Food with fast service. The menu is extensive with lots of choices. Accommodates to various diets.

Good food served fast. Try the blackened scallops. They seem to specialize in fried foods, but you can have any entrée served anyway you like, and you can create your own healthy dinner.

I had jumbo fried shrimp , fries , and Mac and cheese . The shrimp were really big and I think I got about a dozen . Best fried shrimp I've had in a long time .The Mac n cheese was great and fries were ok. I was hesitant to go because of the name " seafood express " . Thought it was going to be cheap food thrown together but I was completely wrong . Great place . Good value

Simply: some of the tastiest fried shrimp north of the famed places for fried shrimp in St. Augustine FL. This inexpensive seafood joint on St. John's Bluff Rd (just south of Atlantic Blvd.) even has a drive-through for order and pick-up. They are fast! While the blackened basa I also tried is perfectly fine -- fresh and nicely prepared -- once quickly realizes that fried shrimp are the go-to item here. Everything else one may try here is better and tastier at Sid & Nancy's at Kernan + Beach, for only a dollar or two more. Here, the fish is not quite as firm and tasty; the french fries aren't quite as flavorful; the hush-puppies are drier and crustier; and none of the side dishes compare to Sid & Nancy's. What works about these fried shrimp, by the way, is that there is relatively little breading: that breading is light, slightly crunchy, and melts in your mouth with your perfectly cooked shrimp on the first bite.... In my opinion, to get a dozen superb & tasty, medium-size, butterflied fried shrimp with two sides for only $10.99 (slightly more after 4pm I think) is a heckuva deal. On Friday, Sunday & Monday (I believe I have the days right) you can get 20 of these tasty fried gems for the same low $10.99 (!!!) ... On the 15th & 30th of every months you can get 30 (!!!) fried shrimp for $10.99. That's a pretty amazing deal.... If you like Florida-style fried shrimp and you don't want to drive to St. Augustine FL, Seafood Express is the place! They have a very friendly staff too, in my experience :)

4 stars and not 5 because my past few visits haven't been like they used to. Lately my order has been wrong even though it was put in the system correctly and I don't make complicated orders, just order right off the menu. Regardless the food is always fresh and super tasty and I'm a big time seafood lover. Prices are good because you get a pretty big portion of food for what your paying. Just wish they would pay more attention and get my orders correct again.

Food was good but few things was bland. My biggest issue was when we ordered the platter for 2 the cashier asked if we wanted oysters and we said sure doesn't it come with it (on the menu it does) said it be $2 more because there not in season so we ask for something else and said it still be $2 more. Not sure what the point is then and when we got our food the lady kept trying to walk off on us when we was trying to ask her a question very rude. But we will give it another try on a night they do the 30 shrimp deal. Will update once we do that.

Tried this again as we were jonesing for some good seafood. It is excellent and the staff, including the manager, have been very friendly. I must have caught them on a bad day before. The Platter for 2 is our favorite!

I had low expectations when we walked into this place for the first time last week. We had driven to the area to eat elsewhere but found the other place closed. Frankly this whole area had a deserted look. But I was very pleasantly surprised! The restaurant was spotless, even down to the window blinds and the self-serve drink station. There was always an employee circulating around the dining room taking care of customers and cleaning. I never saw anyone goofing off--everyone was working at something even though business was slow. The food quality was very good. Everything was cooked perfectly, hot and plentiful. Although the seafood was fried, it was not over cooked or greasy. I liked the fact that everything was salted very lightly--I could actually taste the food! The portion sizes were generous but the prices were very reasonable. We got a lot of food for our money and left with takeout boxes for later. If you are looking for a fine dining experience complete with a snooty waiter, this ain't it. But if you just want good seafood for a reasonable price, cooked the way your Mama made it, you can't go wrong with this Seafood Express. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the complicated menu on the wall. I think it could be simplified and made easier to read. It is fine for regular customers who know what they want, but for new customers, it is difficult to read through all the choices and make a decision while standing at the counter with people behind you and all eyes on you.

After a long day at the beach my family, we wanted good seafood but were all too tired to get dressed up to go out. We called seafood express and placed an order. I drove up and picked it up within 15 minutes. It was great. The flounder was good. The fried shrimp were still hot and crispy. We all enjoyed our meals and will surely go back.

Gotta say this place was a big surprise as my barber, Big Jim, raved about Seafood Express and said I had to try it. In the past, a few of Big Jim's tips have not exactly panned out but he hit it one out of the park with this one. Upon entering, the special of the day is on a chalkboard in the small entrance and the remainder of the menu is on the wall. The menu is quite extensive with many combo variations. I had the special of the day , fried shrimp and fried scallops, and they were excellent. Lightly breaded and served piping hot. Sides were generous. I chose grits and fries. Grits were good but fries not as good as I do not especially like warm crinkle cut fries. Nothing fancy here but if you want fresh seafood prepared correctly, give Seafood Express a chance. If you don't care for it, try the Krystal next door!

This is one of those places where I was just in the "Meh, it's alright" zone. It was my first time coming here for lunch and it wasn't busy at all (surprised, because I always hear it's super busy). The menu is so large, but I knew I wanted fried fish. Then I saw butterfly shrimp and decided I wanted that too, so I got a combo: Fried Catfish and Butterfly Shrimp with green beans and cole slaw as my sides. The restaurant is ocean themed, of course. Very simple and comfortable, a place you can eat, relax, and just have conversation without feeling rushed. The restaurant was very clean as well. On each of the 4 corners of the restaurant there are TVs with different channels turned on, so you just face what you want to look at while you're waiting for your food. The order came out pretty quickly, maybe about 10min I'd say. I'm happy I ordered the butterfly shrimp (which were super delicious, especially with their thick tartar sauce - not a fan of the cocktail sauce), BUT, not happy about the catfish. It was really, really greasy and so fatty it was like I was eating jello. I had to soak it in malt vinegar to make it bearable. The green beans were really awesome after I added a little salt and some pepper and the cole slaw was alright. I had never really had hush puppies before and the meal came with 2, and it tasted like a Chinese eggroll with a lot of breading. My hopes may have just been too high because I was craving seafood and a certain taste to my seafood. In any case, it was just okay. I'd come back and try maybe another kind of fish.

So after seeing Guthrie's go out of business and remain vacant for a while (despite never going there) i was excited for my hubs to see seafood place close to home go up. this place is working on a drive Thur as well as serving all three hot meals you could ask for during a day! There are two locations for this place - one on st johns bluff across from Winn Dixie and one on north main street in Jacksonville. They're relatively well priced in comparison to other seafood places in the area - genes or captain D's and have sit down quality food. with lent around the corner i see this and Daruma being our fishy Friday hot spots. i DETEST fish and seafood but have found myself eating here twice this week with my hubs. i posted a scanned copy of their menu and a pic from tonight. hope it helps bc they don't have a website that i know of.

My first experience at Seafood Express will probably be my last. I will start with the positive. The staff was very nice and tried fix any issues we brought to their attention. For example, the Coke machine ran out of syrup, they fixed it. The "grilled" seafood had more "seasoning" on it than many blacked items I've had at other seafood restaurants. They were nice and replaced the grilled fish with some that was lightly seasoned. More on this later. First, this is the kind of establishment where you have American food, Chinese menu style. The menu board is so packed it is easy to get lost in the choices. Basically, you can get everything with everything, but it will not be very good. You also go to the counter and order and wait for the food to show up; which occurs in some order not matching the order in which it was ordered. We had the shrimp and salmon and shrimp and trout combos. We got the shrimp fried and fish grilled. So, back to the fish, it came out seriously seasoned, like to the point of being "crusted." We tasted, salt that is, it was also seriously overcooked and sent it back for something we hoped would taste like fish. After a reasonable time, another serving of grilled salmon and trout was returned to us, it "looked" significantly better, but was still just off. The salmon reminded me of the Christina Perri song "A Thousand Years" because it tasted as if it had been frozen for that long. It was just as blaw and rubbery as it could be. My wife's trout was another story, unfortunate for her, I tasted it after she gave up on eating it and getting bone after bone. It was just vial, it really tasted off and I'm nervous that she will get sick. Really, it had a jellified consistency and tasted NOTHING of fresh or even edible fish. The fried shrimp portions were typical, not bad, just average. Clearly imported shrimp, at least they appeared to be fresh breaded. The side of grits was a bland as can be, i.e. even mineral water has more flavor. The fries were clearly Sysco or something else institutional. Finally, the portions were just odd, not that they were too small, just that the same thing would vary by nearly 50% from plate to plate. If you are looking for a quick fried lunch, this is probably a good spot. But considering our two combos came to almost $35.00, I'd most definitely find somewhere else to get a piece of grilled fish. The staff got them to two stars.

Waited twenty minutes in the drive through for a salad. Got home to discover a bug in it. Not impressed with food, service, or pricing. Would not recommend. Only giving it one star because can't give less.
