Hmmm I see a lot of people haven't tried real Mexican food. Well, this place wasn't all that good but better than Pepe's Hacienda.

A bit of a Hole-In-The-Wall, but the food is amazing. The interior is exactly how a rural restaurant in Mexico would look. The Seafood Fajita is amazing. It comes with a Seafod Dish, Chips, Corn Tortillas, A Plate with Beans, Guac, Tomato Lettuce, Sour Cream.

Meh, definitely a hole in the wall restaurant. Service was pleasant. Food was fast. The quality of ingredients was fair-ish. Ordered a beef burrito. Chips were stale. Salsa was fresh but lacked charisma. The burrito was bland and disappointing. Meat quality seemed on point of Taco Bell's interpretation of beef. The other ingredients tasted canned or flavorless. I had high expectations based on other's reviews. Maybe I caught them on a bad day, but I really don't intend on going back to find out.

This restaurant is well-priced for the heaps of food they serve. I get the number 32 vegetarian option. The servers are personable and the decor is trendy and cute. I really love coming here. Try the cheesecake enchilada!

Best mexican food in town. Used to go to La Napoleras, not anymore. Husband is from Texas and he says it's like being in El Paso. You really need to try this place. We will be repeat customers. The place is small. Only 7 tables and 5 barstools. Service is good.

I am in search of the ultimate Mexican restaurant in JAX and thought that I would try this one after reading other reviews. I ordered the chicken & shrimp fajitas which arrived very hot and seasoned well with plenty of bell peppers, onions, & tomatoes. They were very good, but I compare all Mexican restaurants to El Jalisco in Tallahassee which is my favorite, but would still recommend Mi Veracruz. Margaritas were a tad weak and salsa & chips are just average. Prices are reasonable.

This place is the real deal. Everything homemade, corn tortillas, spicy salsa verde. Steak nachos and enchiladas suiza were the best! The area is sketchy, especially at night, but it's a quick stop off of I-95 if you're travelling through. We will definitely be back!

This place is amazing. No really, it is. So feeling that I wanted Mexican I went looking. I wanted to try something aside from La Nap or one of those well known chain places. This place is small in size, and maybe that's what makes it so fantastic. The staff is super friendly and polite. The portions of food are ridiculously large and there is not skimping on the quality of flavor either. Their prices are ridiculously reasonable. Chances are if you drive by this place you will miss it if you are not paying attention. If that's the case turn around and come back. Everything has been fresh and full of flavor. They even have fried ice cream, but that just might make me burst if I even look at it. I hope more people venture to this gem soon!

Went here because of the reviews and I was in the area. Very pleased, will be back. Authentic, local, friendly, affordable, and clean. It's easy to pass up, but is located right across the street from a US Postoffice.

Both times I've been here, the food has arrived piping hot and fresh. Compared to other Mexican restaurants around town, it's more authentic and in my opinion, more delicious. At other restaurants I've been to, the beans and rice left much to be desired, however, the beans and rice at Mi Veracruz were delicious and nicely complimented my meal. I can honestly say I enjoyed every part of my dinner plate, including the corn tortillas that came with my fajitas. Mi Veracruz is a smaller restaurant. It has a hospitable atmosphere and great staff. There's not much I dislike. I recommend it and will surely drag a friend here sometime soon!

A gem! I will be coming here instead of la nap or any other Mexican restaurant. One of the better yelp guided finds. Carnitas were the best I've ever had. You must try this place.

I have always enjoyed them. tonight I came with my husband and he had a combination plate and I had the carne asado n wow can't wait to come back. My husband was very happy. All super sabroso. the young lady entrepreneur chef has a good thing going.

I am so thankful for Yelp!! Otherwise, I would not have found the best Mexican food in Jacksonville!! I went ala carte and had a chile relleno, beef taco, and chalupa. My friend had the chimichanga (beef). We also had the 2 for 1 margaritas. My mouth, heart, and tummy were so happy when we left! The beef in the chimichanga was seasoned perfectly and tender...not chewy at all! The guacamole on the chalupa was fresh and chunky! My chile relleno was a full poblano pepper, not a piece of one like most places. I can't wait to go back! I want to try everything on the menu! I felt like I was in Mexico!!!

I was a little reluctant to try this place when a friend suggested it. Don't let the outside appearance and the area deter you. The food and the service was so good and fresh. I had the shredded beef chimichanga. The beef was seasoned so well. The prices were also very reasonable.

I needed a place to have lunch. I work close to the intersection of Phillips Hwy and Emerson St. I.used Yelp search engine nearby places to find a $ restaurant. I found Mi Veracruz Restaurant a nice place. There is room for 30 people, I even counted all the chairs. The menu has a lot for everyone who likes Mexican food. I ordered the special Fajas de pollo. They were really good with lettuce and tomato with some sour cream. I will be back. They have good customer service, good food, good prices, and the place is clean.

Food here is amazing. The price can't be beat. Incredibly fast and friendly service. It's a hole-in-the wall sort of place, so don't expect much from the decor. I highly recommend it!

It's a good thing that Mi Veracruz Restaurant is less than one mile away from my workplace. Now, I have a new place to go where I can enjoy authentic Mexican food on a regular basis. Very reasonable prices. I ordered the combination plate and picked the chicken quesadilla and flauta de carne. I received two plates because the amount of food won't fit in one. They are flavorful and packed with meats. Muy delicioso! Loved their chicken wings too. To date, Mi Veracruz have received all 5-star reviews. The food, service, taste, price, and location are the reasons. Everything's great! Highly recommended!

I would describe this restaurant as an "authentic-esque hole in the wall" place. My friends and I were driving down to Daytona Beach and decided to stop by at Jacksonville to grab lunch. We wanted to get Mexican and found this place on yelp. Everyone wanted to try "authentic" Mexican food so we decided to give it a go. The places is very small and once again, I'll emphasize hole in the wall. The menu was full with a variety of different Mexican food. I wasn't too hungry so I just decided to get a ceviche. I knew Mexico isn't known for their ceviche so I tried to lower my expectations (which is usually very high for ceviche). However, I was decently surprises by the taste. It very much reminded me of the ceviche I used to eat in Panama; however, this meant it wasn't as good as the Peruvian ones. The ceviche here was served with tomatoes and avocados in them which I've never seen before. The fish pieces were also very small and little. I don't remember all the dishes my friends ordered but one of them got the chicken and rice (arroz con pollo). I tried a bite and it was very delicious but I'm not sure how authentic it was. It was very different from the arroz con pollo I tried in Latin America in terms of the taste, mainly the spices. All my friends were very satisfied with their foods and the ceviche was alright. Taste and portions are great but authenticity? Mmm... Not so sure about that.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
