My fiancé and I tried this place last weekend. The food was really good and so was the service. I had a chicken fajita quesadilla and my fiancé had a burrito. The salsa was good and so was the queso. The side of Guac was also tasty.

Pretty good mexican place. Living in Los Angeles somewhat spoiled me, so I've been looking for a great place since I moved here. The service was good, bartender was nice. The margarita was a little weak, but all in all, it was pretty good. The food was really good and the portion sizes were nice. It also wasn't too spendy, so that's always good. I did like the chips and salsa as well, which is always my first love :) I think I will go back and try something a little different (I played it safe with a tostada)....but a lot of the drinks looked interesting and the menu looks pretty big with good options. Stay tuned....

Came here for a CMYE after party and had a blast. They have a very large number of flavored margaritas, a stereotypical selection of Mexican dishes, but a quality that makes them stand out and stand apart from your stereotypical Mexican restaurants. Service was great, and our waiter was incredibly patient with the picky folks in our group. This makes four good restaurants in the same shopping center. A winner for this wannabe foodie! Their pricing is in line with others, which means that your wallet will not hate you at the end of the night, which makes this one a big winner.

What a fun place to meet up with friends! The staff here is phenomenal and really caters to their customers. They accommodated a big group of us for late night bites and drinks. Although I'm not a huge drinker, their margaritas were very tasty and served ice cold. You can order them over ice or blended frozen with many kinds to choose from on the menu. They were served in a big festive glass complete with the salt rim. Super refreshing! Overall, the drinks were constantly coming and I'll definitely be back to try a full meal. FYI: The burritos I saw coming by me were HUGE so bring your appetite and get ready for a fiesta!

I can't believe this place is two dollar signs! The majority of their dinner menu costs between $8-$12 dollars! That's pretty affordable in my book, especially since the portions were generous. Margaritas' dinner selection is vast! Additionally, they offer a great drink menu; plenty of margaritas (of course!). It's a great place for large parties. The staff is friendly and attentive. We came here for a friend's birthday. I casually mentioned it to our server and they surprised him with a birthday song and a drink. They also decked him with a sombrero :)

Now this is real Mexican food! First of all, I wanted to mention that the service is excellent. I always expect average service when I go to a new place and love to be pleasantly surprised. The entire staff was attentive, kind and genuinely warm. The food portions are large and the cost is low. I can usually tell how good the food will be by trying the chips and salsa. Others choose a bean and cheese taco or the restaurants guacamole as their litmus test. Well the salsa didn't disappoint. It was fresh, had plenty of flavor and had just the right amount of heat (possibly a little too hot for some weaker tongues). I decided to "go all the way" with this date and go for the gold; I ordered the fajitas. They were good but did suffer from SMS (Skinny Meat Syndrome). It was forgivable since the flavors were so good! My only gripe is that they didn't include any of the standard fajita sides like sour cream, cheese or guacamole. All of that has to be ordered additionally. I did order the guac and it was decent. Nothing to write home about. Over all I was really impressed with Margaritas. I will definitely return and try the fish tacos, tacos al pastor and Fajita Aguacate. Just writing this review as I start my day is leaving my mouth watering and stomach growling. Looks like that day will be today. See you in a few hours Margaritas.

Great little spot hidden in a shopping plaza for margaritas. Over 20 flavors to choose from. We were gathered for a group get together and had awesome service. The green salsa is hot but so amazingly delicious you find your taste buds begging for more but your tongue is crying and your face is sweating. Although we weren't ordering food at this visit, the fajitas at the table next to us were exploding with a sensational scent and looked fabulous. Great place.

Spur of the moment we decided to try this place and we are so glad that we did! I am from California and I am convinced that, that is where the best mexican food is... haha so naturally, when I saw their California Burrito I had to give it a whirl. I was pleasantly surprised that it lived up to it's name. I had to eat the whole thing it was delicious. My husband enjoyed his enchiladas and my son ate all his quesadilla which was half price since it was Sunday. The staff was wonderful and of course, the complimentary chips and salsa we're a great start to a fantastic meal! We'll be back for sure!

Probably the best hidden gem in Jacksonville. Service was excellent, food was delicious, atmosphere was great. Only problem we had was we couldn't finish our food, way to much. Great value for the level of cuisine. Don't wait check this place out!!!

Was in the mood for tacos, but got here and couldn't get the idea of taco salad out of my mind and boy was I glad I decided on the taco salad! This thing is definitely priced right, and the healthy portion was perfect for my appetite! Will definitely be adding this place to the rotation!

This is a very friendly local restaurant. I loved the complimentary chips and salsa, and the tacos I had were very good. I think the staff here are extremely friendly and helpful, and the food was good too! I definitely think this is worth a try if you are in the area.

5 stars for their customer service alone!! Something about the way everyone greeted me made me feel like this was going to be a good dinning experience, and it was. Soooooo... Let's get the cons out of the way: the Chile rellano was my least favorite, the peppers in our burrito and nachos could've been cut way smaller and the drinks could've been a little stiffer. I had to fish for awhile to even come up with those little cons. The food was quick and amazing, the drinks were good and the customer service was through the ROOF!!! I had a couple peach margaritas and a sweet tea, all of the drinks were good, but the great part was the lightly sweetened sweet tea: some people overdue it! The complimentary chips and salsa was great, it has this spicy kick that will have you going back for more. I also ordered the chicken California burrito and a Chile rellano and they were both HUGE, so needless to say I definitely have another meal sitting on the counter. My friend ordered the fajita nachos and a taco, she loved the taco and said she'd definitely be returning. If anyone is looking for authentic Mexican cuisine, stellar customer service and a all around satisfying experience, I suggest you give this restaurant a try. This is definitely my favorite Mexican restaurant in Jacksonville (at least for right now). Happy Yelping...

It took me five minutes to love this place. Look at the pics. Place looks great. The staff is very friendly. This place opened up two months ago or in october 2014' I am waiting for my meal, but having chips and salsa and a margarita. Wow, the margarita is loaded and the salsa is extremely delicious. For $10.99 I am having the Special Dinner, which it comes with a chalupa, chile relleno, taco, enchilada, tamale, and rice and beans. This is one dish, but feeds two. Well, this is great, excellent, delicious....dont know what else to say. Come to this restaurant and enjoy great food! This is best Mexican restaurant in Jacksonville.

I stopped in for lunch the other day and was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere and the owners willingness to make you feel at home. I've been to many Mexican restaurants and this place stands out from the crowd in a big way! The owner was very pleasant and gave recommendations on some items he enjoyed from the menu. I went for the chicken burrito and chicken enchilada with rice and beans on the side and everything came out hot and fresh tasting and the chicken inside both was juicy and seasoned to perfection. Chips and salsa of course are complementary but don't let the free chips and salsa for you, they are fresh and delicious as well. I will definitely be back again and again and I wish them nothing but success as they grow and gain more regulars like myself.

It was not bad. It's hard I guess when your main experience with Mexican food is in Southern California. For Jacksonville, I'd say its pretty good. I love that I was able to order a Kahlua Coffee. and I like that they have plain tacos that aren't drowning in sour cream and such, but the carnitas were very dry and my daughter's steak was tough. Chips were addictive and the guacamole was excellent... full of avocado, not a bunch of other stuff some places fill it with to save money. Staff is friendly and wants to provide a great experience, but the meat needs a little help.

  • Kathy S.

Oh my goodness the margaritas are amazing and cheap. Huge selection of margarita flavors. The wait staff were patient with our large group and very nice to us. Chips and salsa were delicious and salsa had a kick. I tried the watermelon margarita and the regular line one ... Both delicious. I will have to come back here to try the food.

Absolutely delicious! Great service! my favorite is the steak burrito with this incredible white sauce with mushrooms and peppers. Love the "drunken" beans! All the basics and many new and different dishes. Yummy!

We ate here for dinner last night and I just had to update.....our food was outstandingly delicious....last time we only did lunch, and it was good, but for dinner we were blown away! Our server/owner? was so friendly and welcoming and wonderful for giving recommendations. We got the taquitos mexicanos- two chicken and two beef roll ups fried then covered with cheese, lettuce and slice of avocado. Delish, i love the combo of fried and fresh, everything tasted perfect. But the real scene stealer was the Carnitas!!!! I have had this at other Mexican places and the meat tends to be dry and tough so I usually dont get it anymore. But this was just soooooo good, the dish came with huge chunks of pork that were slow cooked and falling apart tender, they were seasoned/ marinated in some kind of wonderful seasoning, then flash fried for a little sear on outside. Just outstanding, I couldnt get over how good this was. This has moved to a love for me! Cant wait to go back!

So glad we tried and will certainly be our new place for Mexican !!! Bye bye La Nop

My favorite Mexican food place of the city! It starts with the best customer service where you get flattered, called a sweet nickname, and get treated like royalty. It ends with food that tastes real--onions, mushrooms, cilantro...reasonably-priced Mexican food restaurants don't make food anymore in this city that doesn't look like was bought at Publix...until now!

Delicious, Delicious, Delicious! Very authentic Mexican!!! The carnitas are amazing. The portions are huge and the drinks are perfect! Highly recommend!!

I have seen the reviews and heard all the talk on how good this place was. Even from a couple of really good friends and a true Texas Mexican saying how good this place is. So I gave in and went to lunch with one of those friends and the place was very nice. But, it seemed to me like all of the other Mexican places all over town. Some are better then others and this one is one of those on the top end of the list. We arrived and were quickly greeted and seated. The server girl was very nice and let me thumb thou the menu that was like a book. I ended up with a trio of tacos on flour tortillas. I went with a fish, chorizo, al pastor tacos. They came out plain at first. I mean just tortilla and meat. Then they brought out the Carne Asada and my fixins lettuce, tomato, onions, and a couple of sauces to go a long with my tacos. Now I was set to dig in. After a few pictures (being the good Yelpers) we dug in. The carne asada and good but didn't have the seasonings that I was looking for. Not bad but I have had better. My tacos were pretty tasty and with all the parts in pieces in place they were right up there with yummy. I will be back and maybe sooner then later cause I'm having a real crisis with a graving for good Mexican food.

If you have read my past reviews, I am from Los Angeles, so I am spoiled by extremely good Mexican. This place is solid. So far, the best place in Jax. Solid margaritas. Really good food. Really good service. I need to go again and not play it safe. Try something from the specialty items on the menu. One more trip and I can give my full review. However, so far. This place is great. Catch me on my next review. Excited that I found this place. Drove from the beach just to try it.

This is my first time in this restaurant, I can tell that Margaritas Mexican Grill is an outstanding restaurant, delicious food I ordered a Tampiqueña steak I was surprised with the huge steak i got, honestly I was expecting a small piece of meat but no it was a huge NY strip steak very tender and juicy you can feel all the flavors on every single bite, Margaritas are awesome and overall, customer service wow!!! polite, enthusiastic team, helpful they really make you feel like your are "En Su casa" customer service and good product is all about. Next time I visit Jacksonville for sure I'll be there :)

Found this place thanks to Yelp! When we walked in we were quickly greeted and taken to a booth. The server asked us our names before asking for our drinks, a true surprise. And she remembered our names the entire time we were there! We got some Queso has an appetizer which was delicious. I got a burrito which was HUGE I ate it the next day for lunch also! My friend got a quesdilla which he said was great. Will be back! The most friendliest service I've received in a while!

We ate here for the second time last night and we were not disappointed! I ordered the Pescado Cancun, and it was delicious! The only problem was the shrimp were slightly overcooked. The sauce and fish, however, were divine! My girlfriend had the Bistek Tampiqueno which was perfectly prepared, and covered in chorizo. Delicious!!! We're back today for an early dinner before we go to the movies, I will post a review tomorrow.

We went in around noon and there weren't that many ppl, they steadily got more ppl after we arrived. Price - lunch specials were very affordable. Taste - I really wanted to like this place bc I love Mexican food but imo food was not that much different than Taco Bell. Perhaps we ordered the wrong items, but everything came with ground beef. We asked about steak (carne asada) but was told they didn't have any. Kinda weird. I didn't think it was gross since I do eat at Taco Bell once in a long time. I wasn't expecting anything fancy but just wanted really good Mexican food. Love the hole in the wall kind of food. Hubby didn't care for his dish at all. Everything seemed to be smoothered in sauce. The best part was the complimentary salsa. Had a nice kick and wasn't chunky, which is how I like my salsa. Service was avg. Not particularly friendly but not rude either. Unfortunately shortly after we left, my husband had stomach issues and had to use the bathroom several times. Needless to say I have removed my bookmark.

Love love love this place! Excellent customer service even though it was super busy, our waiter and bartender were great! The food is sooo delish, way better than La Nop and you get large portions for the price! Margaritas are cheap but tastes so yummy! Overall, this place is amazing!!

First time trying this place and it was great! The owner came out and introduced himself personally. I had a basic chicken quesdilla (sp?) It had the best flavor for such a simple dish. Also had the house margarita on happy hour, at 2.99 that was a grest value. Everyone in my party loved what they ordered. Will definitely be returning to try other menu items!

The chimichanga del rio is a thing of splendor. It is not as greasy as chimis often are, is loaded with fresh seafood, and covered in a wonderful sauce. The veg in everything was fresh and flavorful. We had a bit of a language barrier but survived. When we asked for queso they had to clarify that we wanted cheese dip. You get to choose whether to have the "Single" or the "Single Order" of many dishes, and found out That one option is for a half serving....anyone else think that is a bit loco? The Rita was strong and tasty. Good thin chips. The salsa was okay but a bit imbalanced; nice heat but not enough sweet or citrus to round out the flavors. Great price on lunch specials. If in the area we would go back.

  • Jodie M.

Amazing salsa, amazing food! The California burrito was huge! Great service! Oh and I am certain this is the best salsa I have ever had. We were debating coming in due to it being in a strip mall but I am so thankful we did! Don't let the outside fool you.

Best place ever! I have never felt so special being in a Mexican restaurant. They treated me as if I were one of their own and I have to say I've been a lot of places that I felt I was not welcome because of my white skin....but they made me feel so welcome...paco especially the one server is amazing. I own a restaurant and I wish my employees had 10% of his talent. I swear if they did I'd be rich already lol. Love this place girl with orange car....

This restaurant is so reasonably priced for some great food! I happened to stumble into this restaurant and glad I did! Their chicken quesadilla (order it with plain chicken) is out of this world!! My dad and his girlfriend loved their orders too. The service was more than outstanding! I felt like this was my own family's restaurant.

This place is THE BEST!!! The wife and I moved down from SC and had not found any Mexican restaurant that was up to our standards until now. We have ate at a lot, and I mean a lot of Mexican restaurants over the years and this one is right at the top!! Great service, great food and the owner or manager makes sure everything is like you want it. Don't pass this one by..

Brought a group here for my husbands birthday as he LOVES Mexican food. For frame of reference, he frequents places such as Mr. Taco and Pepes Hacienda. The restaurant was very accommodating for our large group. For the birthday boy they provided a free margarita, a sombrero and a song! We had a great time and we all really enjoyed our dishes. It was the first time any of us had been there, and since then a few of my friends have told me how great it was. Fun experience and would recommend.

Great Mexican food at great pricing, and side salad was fresh too. Their tequila sunrise is amazing when customize with a little more orange juice, oh and they got a nice bartender as well. If you like Mexican food this is the place to be, feel like I'm in Mexico whenever I go there. It is also a nice place to have group gathering, my new drinking spot :)

Husband and I decided to try this place out after reading all the stellar reviews. As a longtime fan of La Nop, I was fully prepared to be blown away. Initial impression was that it seemed similar to la Nop as far as decor goes. The waitstaff is super friendly, calling us amigos and referring to me as señorita. (liked it!) The music is a bit different... More urban reggaeton stuff, rather than traditional Mexican band music. So here's where things get more on par with La Nop... The food is pretty damn similar. I ordered the speedy Gonzalez and it wasn't really any different with the exception of the hard taco. La Nop does it better. I love their tacos and it's just hard to beat. More meat, more crunch, more cheese. Hands down winner. Everything else was pretty much the same. We tried some margaritas and while mine was good it wasn't miles above La Nop. Husband tried the guava version and couldn't detect any alcohol in his. That's not a good thing. Overall, I'd say that were I to be hungry, and in the immediate area, I'd come here again. If I'm near La Nop, I'm going to go there.

I found a gem and you have to come and try it out. They are brand new and the atmosphere was fresh. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Now to the best part...the food and drinks. The margaritas, which are we're on sale, was perfect. The chips and salsa were addictive. I ordered the fajitas and they are the best in town. Highly suggest you give them a try.

I was wondering how the new Mexican restaurant in Mandarin was, so of course turned to Yelp! When I saw the ratings and read the reviews, my fiance and I decided to give it a try, and we are so happy we did. When we walked in the door, we were greeted like we were family, but not in the annoying over the top way. We sat at the bar and were waited on by Desiree, who was awesome. She was sweet, efiicient, attentive and helpful with the menu as they have some different menu items than I normally see at Mexican restaurants. The chips and salsa were fresh and delicious. Being a lover of all things avocado, Desiree recommended the chicken and cheese stuffed avocado that was lightly breaded and fried. WOW! The chicken was chunks of perfectly seasoned breast meat, and was tender and delicious...and it was surrounded by AVOCADO! My fiance had a chicken burrito that covered the entire plate (it had the same chicken as my dish), and he said it was really good (I meant to try it, but was too absorbed in my meal to grab a bite of his). My meal came with a taco, rice, lettuce, pico de gallo, & sour cream. I ended up taking most of my food home because the portions were very generous. I had a peach margarita that was also super yummy. This restaurant is our new local spot. Wishing them much success!

It's a great place. Food is awesome, certainly one of the best mexican restaurants i've ever been. Service and ambiance is good. Amount of food is hell a lot and price is quite reasonable. Like most of the mexican restaurants, you will get free and fresh salsa and chips.

Everything about the meal was perfect. Friendly and fast service, great fajitas. Didn't get any drinks but for $3.99 I might have to. We'll be back soon to try the fried ice cream.

If I could rate it higher I would, the food was awesome. The drinks were great and the service was like a 5 star restaurant. Prices were very reasonable for the amount food that you got. All the food was very fresh like it just came from the farm. If you don't go it will be your loss. I drove two and half hours to try this restaurant and I am true glad I did

Veggie enchiladas contained very large pieces of undercooked peppers. House Margarita contained almost no tequila as far as my table mates and I could tell. The upgraded "skinny" margaritas were anything but - incredibly over sweetened and also weak on tequila. Three stars is generous here.

This is not your typical Mexican restaurant, it's several steps above. The service is excellent and the food is outstanding. We've been there several times and have loved everything we've ordered. Try the Fajita Aguacate with chunks of beef, it's the best Mexican food I've ever eaten. The beef is so tender that I could cut it with a fork.

Wonderful restaurant! Great food. Low prices. And very friendly. I was raised in Texas and thought this was a great find.

Disappointed based on the reviews I read. The place is clean, the service is good but the food was just edible. Reminds me too much of La Napolera which I am not a fan of because everything on the plate tastes the same. Chips and salsa were good and happy hour margarita was decent.

The burritos and chalupas here could not be any better. Great service and not overpriced at all.

Let me tell you about Margaritas Mexican Grill . Stop what your doing and go there right now. I have lived in Texas and Arizona and since coming to florid I have yearned for real Mexican food. This place has filled that longing and I left with not one, but two boxes to take home. Honestly three people could make a meal off the Sample Plate. And the food is good. I mean well spiced and cooked to perfection. The chili relleno was the best I've had in Jacksonville .

This may be the best mex in town! We have been there 3 times and every time loved the free chips (really fresh!) and salsa (homemade), as well as the apps, entrees and deserts all made fresh there. Excellent table service. Priced well. Decor is great. Best margaritas too. Love this place!!

Food was very good, fresh; The wait staff was excellent, but there aren't enough to handle the crowd. I couldn't get in and out within 45 minutes and during work hours that's crucial. it's #2 on my best Mexican Restaurants, Rosy's Mexican Restaurant is the #1. Here the music was too loud and our conversation was shouting (almost like a rock concert). This place will do well and certainly is way better than La-Nop. I'll be back.

First time to dine at this restaurant and it was excellent. From the Service (Victor) to the Margarita and the food (Burrito Poblano and Fajita Nachos) you can't go wrong. Even someone having a birthday they made it festive. To top everything I got a nice chilled Tequila shot. Very Smooth. Fantastic dinner and we will be back.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
