Fast and cheap and they have Modelo on tap. You would think they had the food pre-made but it tastes like it's just been made. The service was friendly. It felt family-owned. Tried a little bit of everything when I lived a half mile away. It was all good/great. It looks a little rundown, but go in anyway. It's a good clean efficient experience.

Tried here for dinner this evening and was very satisfied. We were greeted and seated promptly upon our arrival. After the hostess brought the salsa and chips our waiter came up and took our order. My wife ordered the #9 combo which is 2 soft tacos and rice and beans, and I ordered the Platio del Mar which is a lightly pan fried fish and shrimp with a Mexican salad and rice & beans. In about ten minutes the food arrived and we spent the next 1/2 hour shoveling really good yet inexpensive Mexican food into our mouths. We will definitely come back here again when the Tex-Mex demon demands it.

Surprise! Looks like a maybe not from outside but inside the food was fresh and the chips warm as this chain is known for. I enjoyed the Chicken Enchiladas with cheese sauce. They were very tasty. The place has a lot of room for groups as I was with my church so this was important.. Will be back again

Great prices, great food, great frozen margaritas. The service is prompt and pleasant. They offer a variety of Mexican dishes. This location only serves beer and wine and margaritas. They are truly made with tequila just pre-mixed. Great place this side of the Border.

This is my favorite place to eat in all of Jacksonville. I almost didn't write this review because I wanted to keep it my own little secret! They have THE BEST margaritas around. I take all of my friends here at least once and they all fall in love with it. The amount of people in here lately has been insane because the food is so good. I'm drinking a margarita and waiting on a supreme burrito AS I write this. If you can go here even once and you like a nice and hot meal, GO!

I've been eating at this restaraunt for over 10 years! It was literally the start to my love affair with Mexican food. The prices are great and so is the food! The service is always fast! I highly recommend trying this place.

Love this place, been eating here for almost 7 yrs now. When we lived closer, we'd eat here once a week. Good food, great prices, quick, friendly service!

Friendly, quick service. Good lunch prices and portions. The food was so-so and layout of the location was decidly old and generic. Not sure I'd come here again, but if you are on this part of Atlantic and don't want a fast food place this is your best choice.

I wasn't impressed with the service. The waitress had to be hunted down if we wanted anything. The atmosphere is nothing special, kind of ordinary for a Mexican restaurant. I was also upset about the fact they had no Horchata on the menu, which is what I order when I go to other Mexican restaurants. However, as soon as I bit in to the Chilaquilas it was magic! The best thing on their menu I have eaten and the only thing worth going back for. Delicious on so many levels! The reason I am giving this place a three isn't because of the food, but because the lack of drink Variety - Lack of Horchata mainly, the service is lousy, and the atmosphere is eh.. Maybe next time if I can I should do a call ahead and take my food to go. :)

Always fast service. Rarely a wait to sit. And it's not too pricey. I don't have a usual because everything I've had is delicious.

I've been to several La Nopalera Consistently good. I'm a burrito guy, and last night I took out their specials one #8 and one #10. One was red onion sauce on chicken and one was beef with chili sauce. Both big and both yum. Blazingly fast service. I'll be back. IRONICALLY: I wanted to try NOPALES (cactus) they didn't have it.

OMG! I can't believe there are only 5 reviews for this place! I remember coming here for lunch when I worked at JCPenney's, and even before that! I love.. LOVE this place. I don't know exactly what it is... o. wait. that's right, their food is awesome! I don't even like spanish rice or whatever it is they have there, but I love theirs. I'm pretty sure all my friends love this place too considering we all eat there A LOT! The staff there are always super friendly and prompt when serving/clearing and refilling! I'm pretty sure I'll always eat/drink here.

The BEST Chili Relleno's Ever! Staff always watching soccer on the TV's. Good salsa

The location at Beach and San Pablo has the worst margaritas. They are so watered down you never taste any alcohol!

It's your typical Mexican joint - Dos Equis on draft and soccer on the flat screens ... food wasn't anything extraordinary--My taco fell apart from the bottom as soon as I took a bite out of it and my friend ordered a quesadilla; the cheese was almost non-existent.

My husband and i go there a few times a month, hes a hot sause and salsa addict. the salsa has good taste to it but not spicy at all. queso dip is very good and the combo meals are huge! there is not much of a taste to any of the carne asadas or pork, wish they would add some spices to it because it would make it alot better! the wait is never long and hostesses are always nice. the servers are not very friendly, but the service is alway good.

Eh. It's an overhyped restaurant, if you ask me. I've heard nothing but amazing things about it and finally got to eat here a few days ago with my girlfriend's family. My favorite part about the meal was the chips and salsa served as an appetizer. The entree (Quesadillas Supreme) was nothing special, and the service was literally nonexistent save for our orders being taken and our food being delivered.

There was a place just like this where I grew up, and I at it all the time. Overall, it's pretty standard, inexpensive Mexican food, but that's not to say that it isn't really good. I probably go here once a month. The service has always been prompt and adequate, and the food has always come out quickly. Gotta love complimentary chips and salsa as well! You really can't go wrong here.

Omg this place is AMAZE-balls. It is hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant in Jacksonville. There are some things on the menu you probably shouldn't order. My husband really wasn't a fan of their fajitas. He said the steak was too tough and flavorless, while he's addicted to their California Burrito. I order their queso every time I go. Sometimes I get the large so I can take it home and warm it up later to enjoy all week that's how delicious it is. The place can be a little difficult to spot at first but once you are there you enjoy some of the best food you can find in Jacksonville. If you like great hole in the wall Mexican restaurants that I promise you that this is your place.

My boyfriend and I tried La Nopalera last Saturday. To sum it up, we were not impressed. My boyfriend is Mexican and just moved from Colorado where authentic Mexican food is abundant. Sadly, this was not a replacement for authentic mexican. Chips and salsa were good, that's really all I can say about this restaurant positively. He ordered the enchiladas, sad and bland. Sauce was canned. I ordered the enchilada and tamale plate, tamale was hidden under a sauce with ground beef? WTF? And enchilada was about as subpar as it can get. Ordered a sopapilla, turns out it was actually a deep fried tortilla with cinnamon..if you know what a sopapilla is you would have been as disgusted as I was. Sorry La Nopalera, I can't return here!

The prices are great, the Regular and frozen Margarita's are great! The service is good too. The Atlantic Blvd is my favorite location and San Marco second. Juan at Atlantic Blvd location is my favorite server.

I came here every week for almost a year until I moved to California and had perfect service every time. Extremely quick seating. As soon as your seated chips and salsa are on the table. Within seconds someone is there to take your drink order and immediately after your drinks are there. Every time I was there, after palcing my order the food was always out STEAMING hot in far under ten minutes. They also have the best 'white queso' in the entire world. Try the 'two tacos, rice and beans' plate, a classic and my FAVORITE you cant go wrong with.

Yum Yum! I am not usually a big fan of Mexican food, but this place is great for anything south of the border! Go now and fuggedaboutit! Free chips and salsa, fresh, fast, hot food. Ole!

I've been going to La Nopaleria in Arlington for years now. I practically grew up eating this stuff. Great food and great prices. Love the atmosphere, too. I wouldn't eat this stuff every week, but it is a very nice treat every once and a while. I've eaten at many other Mexican restaurants and they don't even compare.

I am a huge La Nop fan and frequent the San Marco location weekly. While I don't get to this location often, they serve the same quality food at the same blistering pace that I fell in love with. This location on Atlantic is actually slightly funkier and cooler on the inside, with a more knic-knacks and pictures. While you can get in and out in 25 minutes or so for lunch, you can enjoy slowing down over a few drinks or a flan. I always get the white queso dip, its amazing. I don't thinks you can go wrong with any of the combo platters, but I favor the tacos asada. Of course, the prices are cheap and you're going to be back right? Nothing wrong with trying something new! If you are in the area, don't miss this place, its a never-fail for casual Mexican.

I am a huge fan of La Nop. This one is my favorite for food. The building is small, old, and kind of run down. It is not as nice as the other locations around Jacksonville, however; the food at this one is the best of them in my opinion. I love the quesdilla supreme and the california buritto. Your food is up with lighttning speed. Its great for lunch during the week.

La Nopalera is a decent restaurant if you're looking for your standard Mexican food. The portions are good and the prices fair. There's also unlimited chips and salsa. There's a full bar and there's always a soccer game on the television. The place seems like a great place for birthday parties. The day we went, there was a party of 20 celebrating. They set up a huge table front and center for the party. I was a little worried at first our service would be hindered because of the large table. But the La Nopalera staff were still just as efficient and friendly. They also do that thing, where they carry like 13 plates out at a time on one arm! I don't know how to manage to do it. And the food came out super warm. A friend and I split the carnitas, which were not bad at all. The meat was a little too crisp for my liking on the outside, but once you get past that.. The center was nice and juicy. They have a great mango margarita. I would also suggest getting the white queso dip.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
