Karams is my favorite place in Jacksonville to get my Middle Eastern food fix. They make their own gyro meat and chicken shawarma. I have eaten there dozens of times with friends and family without ever being disappointed. We usually order chicken shawarma, lamb kabob, hummus, baba ghanouj, falafel, tabbouleh and fetush salad. Yes, we make it a buffet party when we go there. It is owned and operated by a very friendly and helpful family.

Everything I've had here has been really great! So far I've had the chicken and the beef shawarma, tabouli, tzatziki, hummus, french fries, dolmas, and the baklava. The food is always fresh and delicious and the owners are very warm and accommodating, even with "special" orders.

WOW! This has got to be the best place in Jacksonville. This place gets five stars on quality of food and level of service. It lacks a bit on ambiance but that's part of the charm of this great place.

Arrived at 8:30pm. Sign says open til 9 and google says open til 9. They offered me take away option only and then said that they close at 8:30pm. I won't be back to try the food since I drove 20 minutes to taste it the first time. Too much risk with uncertain hours.

I ordered them through doorstep delivery. I had never tried them before until then. I can honestly say, they have amazing food. the meat (lamb) tastes great. the hummus is beyond delicious and the tabouli is just wonderful. it all tastes so fresh and I love that they include some jalapeños on the rice. the menu is simple and easy to choose from. glad I found them, and their prices are very reasonable. I keep ordering from them and I will continue to do so.

Unbelievably good food. What a treasure. I had a chicken shawarma plate and am now only regretting that my time in Jacksonville is short, otherwise I would eat at this place every chance I could get!

It's one of my favorite places to eat and every time I'm the area I swing by there for lunch and it never disappoints.

First timer at Karam's. I had a meat shawarma, and was very impressed. The meat is well seasoned and grilled so that the tips and ends are nice and crispy. Delicious.

I went there for the first time on Tuesday and I loved it. It's not a fancy place but the food is really good. It's filling and you want more after. I had the veggie wrap with tabouli and garlic sauce. Their garlic sauce, either you can request it inside the food or on the side, is one of the best sauce I've had. The only sad part is, the owner is leaving back to his country and wants to sell the place. I hope this place and staff stays here. I wouldn't want my first to be my last time.

I love.. love.. love this place.. The schwarma plate is always great, the hummus is always great.. I've gone here to eat as many times as three days in one week. It's excellent.. definitely worth going if you want to try good Mediterranean food. When I have company from out of state, I make them try it.. no one has ever been disappointed.

man, i really wanted to like this place, and maybe its the lack of other mediterranean food in the area that makes this place have so many stars.... i ordered the mixed shawarma plate which comes with chicken and beef/lamb and 2 sides. the chicken was pretty decent, but the beef/lamb was SOOOO overcooked that it was really dry. even the extra yogurt sauce i got did not save it. the garlic sauce was really good though and so was the yogurt sauce. and the side were GREAT. i got hummus and something with eggplant. maybe the chicken shawarma wrap would be better, or the kabobs. but i'm not sure i would want to go back to even try it....

Good falafel and hummous with very good tabouli and babou ghanoush. Good value, a lotta food for decent price. Deli style atmosphere.

The best baba ganoush around! Delightful and delicious family run eatery. Great Shawarma, too!

This place has the spinning meat! If you are familiar with european kabob restaurants or Mediterranean shawarma then you have found your home away from home with Kamal's. If you are unfamiliar with good real Mediterranean food(not like Hovan) than you owe it to yourself to come here. This is a family owned restaurant an you can tell they make authentic great food. I had lunch and everything was delicious. New favorite lunch place in jax.

Best place in Jacksonville to eat midddle eastern food the staffs very friendly and kind.I usually get the Shish kabob plate the best I've had ever the Lamb is very juicy and delicious very well balanced seasoned highly recommend checking this place out and grabbing a bite to eat (Another thing the one on beaches and Hodges is better in my opinion just recently opened)

I seriously love this place. What it lacks in ambiance and location is completely made up for by the quality of the food, the friendliness of the owners, and affordability. Everything they serve is fantastic, although I seem to repeatedly order the lamb kabobs and fattoush, and I haven't had a better version of either anywhere else around town. Also, they're closed on Sunday! Don't make the same mistake I did: On an empty stomach, I drove all the way down University, only to have my dreams of seasoned meat totally destroyed.

This is a Mom and Pop shop. The food herbs and spices used to prepare the food are authentic. It is delicious! Try a new thing off the menu everytime you check in! Can get busy at lunch times during the week. Hospital crowd. This place gets Chef Alex's thumbs up! Love you guys.

I try places like this as much as possible for this reason - they tend to try harder. Food was really good and service was #1. Never been never seen menu- lady (owner) in dining room asked how I was and if she could help. Long and short - I asked for lunch and got a fantastic plate lunch of chicken rice green beans veggies pita for $10 that was enough for 2 meals. Friendly folks turning out really good food - definitely worth visit and looking at trying rest of menu

I probably eat here 1 or 2 times a month. I am hooked on the chicken shawarma and that's the usually what I order. I like to get the spinach and meat pies, they are great! Everything is super fresh. The service is quick too. So if you want something amazing get the chicken shawarm wrap or plate. The wrap has this amazing garlic sauce and they usually put pickled radishes in it too...it's the perfect thing all wrapped up. The pita bread is great! The owner told me he gets it shipped in from his family who has a bakery in Miami! Just go here! You won't regret it!

I live about a mile from the location and drove by it at least a million times, but never felt interested. Well now I am definitely interested. Now I have only eaten like three or four items on their menu, but they have been great every time. I first started getting the Meat Shawarma Wrap. Then I moved to the Meat Shawarma Plate, which comes with two sides. I usually get the Fattoush Salad and the hummus. The hummus is one of my favorite side items. They always have great customer service and the food always comes out nice and hot. Karam always takes my taste buds to "Flavortown"! If you are into Mediterranean food, Karams is the place for you.

I have been coming to Karams for a while now. I try to stop by every time im in the area. GREAT FOOD, friendly service, and its fresh. How can you beat that. I have tried everything on the menu and liked it all. Fresh authentic middle eastern food made by Karam himself. Easy 5 star!!!

This is a small restaurant off of University, I wanted to go try this place on the good reviews. I think I got them on an off day. Some of the other reviews were saying the service was so nice, but I got a guy that would not crack a smile for nothing! Anyways I came for the food so.......... I decided to try the Shish Taouk, which is marinated chicken grilled on skewers, these were delicious! The marinate was flavorful and the chicken juicy, cooked great. With the plate I got to pick two sides I picked Hummus and Fattoush Salad, the Hummus was very creamy and topped with oil and parsley, very good. The Fattoush Salad was large chunks of cucumbers and tomatoes, lettuce, parsley, onion and a light lemony dressing with toasted pita pieces, this was good but not my favorite. I also grabbed some meat, spinach, and spinach and cheese pies to go, these were just ok.....very doughy and dry, the cheese and spinach was my favorite. There are quite a lot of Mediterranean / Middle eastern restaurants in Jax and another one already has my heart.

Best shawarma in town... it is the proper shawarma and not the nock off other resturants try to do... highly recommended for the to go experience as the resturant itself is very small

Left the doctor one day and was hungry. Stopped in at Karam's almost by mistake. Now it's one of my favorite restaurants here in town. There is nothing that is impressive about this establishment upon first sight. And maybe, that's what makes Karam's such a great restaurant. In fact, when I took my wife she was angry that we pulled into their parking lot based on the way it looked. When we were finished eating she was angry at me cause I hadn't taken her there sooner! I guy can't win sometimes.... Anyway, Karam's is where the good food resides here in town. You know, in case you were wondering. You really can't go wrong. I've eaten my way through the menu and have yet to come across something I didn't enjoy. The flavors feel authentic, the food is fresh and hot and the servings are very generous. Except for the Baklava, I felt like the portions were small. But it was so rich and delicious that a larger piece may have upset my stomach. They know what they're doing at Karam's.

Wanted to give them a few tries to see if the 1st experience would hold up, Happily is has. This family run establishment is a little hole in the wall. But their food is excellent, I get the meat Shawarma platter with hummus and tabbouleh and a side of Tzadziki sauce . They give a great portion , with onions, tomatoes, and some peppers to help fill up the pita. Drink station is simple and self serve and isn't heavily guarded like half the places I've been to. Everyone who's helped me has been civil and polite. They only have a few tables so if you like to eat in like I do try and go before or after lunch rush, it's a clean and well kept establishment and very much worth your attention.

This is hands down the best mediterranean restaurant I've eaten at. When I pulled up there wasn't any parking (good sign #1) so I had to park across the street at Zaxbys. Best food in Jax. I moved out of Jax about a year ago, and am having the biggest craving for some Karam's. The food is homemade by the family. I've driven by this place a million times. Sue Farah, a local caterer told me years ago that it was the real Shwarma, but I'd never do because I think I was afraid it wasn't as good as what I remember eating in Europe. Today- I went. I picked up the meat shwarma, the baba ganoush, the tabouli, the foul and the lentils with rice. Am kicking myself for putting it off so long. The swarma was excellent, lots of flavor from onions and tomatoes. The baba ganoush really had a nice smokey quality- I finally see why people like it. The foul (fava beans in a sauce) is on the repeat list as well. the lentils and the tabouli were good, they complemented the others, but weren't anything I'd specifically make a trip for. I saw professional people come in as well as people from the Middle East. Will be going back.

Stumbled on this place by accident, just saw the sign and decided to stop since we were all hungry. What a lucky break. Some of the best middle eastern food I've had. Hummus was so creamy and delicious. Kufta kabab sandwich was tasty. The falafel was unbelievably light and tasty and smelled so appetizing when it came hot out of the frier. Small place doesn't look like much when drive by and it's small, so easy to miss. Don't miss it you'll be glad you stopped by.

Today was my first time eating here and it was so delicious I will be back! I ordered the Meat Shawarma combo which includes 3 sides, all for under $12! For the sides I chose Hummus, Moussaka and the Fettoush Salad. Fettoush Salad includes lettuce, cucumber, onion, tomato, crispy pita and sumac spices and is wonderfully tangy and delicious. The hummus and moussaka were also great choices. The Meat Shawarma came carved straight off the spit and had some nice and crispy bits and was wonderfully seasoned. YUM! The service was also excellent. It did not take long for my food to be ready for take away from when I ordered it. The staff was friendly and they welcome their repeat customers by their first names and with a big smile. You can tell they truly love their customers and with most of them that were in there during my short time there, they were repeat customers. I will also soon be known there on a first name basis :) Closed Sundays.

Without a doubt the best Mediterranean food I have ever had. I agree with the other reviewers: quantities are huge, good value, not fancy and great service. I've had most everything on the menu and its all amazing! My favorite is the chicken shawarma & babou ghanoush. The beets and peppers that come on the side are heavenly. The pita bread is always fresh!

I could just write "fabulous" several times and feel like it aptly describes this place, but I guess I should explain why I'm calling it fabulous. This was our first time eating this type of food and neither of us were impressed at first glance of the little building with very little (apparently) going on..... I decided to go in and have a quick look around, smell the smells and ask for a togo menu before we committed to coming in and eating. OMGosh it smelled heavenly and the man at the counter (the owner I believe) was so friendly and understanding when I said I was just looking.... he has a huge smile and combined with the smell of the food I decided we had to try it. And I am so glad we did! I had a shawarma pita and all I can say is that shawarma pita has a firm spot in my top 10 list of favorite foods. It was absolutely delicious with a fabulous mix of hot and cold, crunchy fresh lettuce and very flavorful meat... a lovely pita and the sauce was just plain delicious. This shawarma pita was one of those things that make me salivate just thinking about it. I plan to go back as often as possible. My husband had a plate of something that he really liked, but honestly, I was so wrapped up in my food that I forgot to ask him what he had! The restaurant is small and comfy, the service is OUTSTANDING, and everything is clean. It does not get any better than this! (Only improvement the owner could make would be to get a website :-)

I love this place. My friend suggested it to me. And thank you to her! I can never decide what I want. Everything is great. The prices are very reasonable. The owner is the most friendly I've ever encountered. The grape leaves, hummus, kebabs, and french fries are some of the things I normally get. I hope everyone goes there. It's a little small like a take-out Chinese place but there is plenty of seating. Get the combo if you can. It comes with 1 main dish and 3 sides. It's really too much food for one person but everything is very easy to reheat and still tastes just as good. Enjoy!

My husband and I just walked out of here and I used the car ride to create a yelp account just so I could rave about this place. We just moved to Jacksonville and I have been blessed to eat authentic shwarma, shish taouk, and the like for most of my life so we have been looking for a great spot to call our regular kebab spot. This. Is. It. The owners are wonderful, polite, and certainly accommodating because we walked in at 8.40 when their door said they closed at 8.30 and they were more than happy to serve us. The meat shwarma platter is as delicious as it gets as is the shish taouk, tabbouleh, tourshi, rice... I could go on. I can't wait to take our family here when they visit. A new regular spot!

After driving by Karam's about a hundred times, I decided that I was going to finally make a point to stop in and see what they had to offer. I dragged the fiance out to run errands with me and told him that we were going to lunch. He asked where, I wouldn't tell him because I didn't want him to voice any hesitation about venturing to a new restaurant. We wandered in on a Saturday afternoon and there were only three other tables of patrons in the restaurant. Sounds like that's not alot, but there are only six tables in the restaurant. We were promptly greeted at the door by the folks behind the counter - it's a family run business and all immediate members of the family were there behind the counter. The fiance decided to try a shish kabob sandwich and kibbee balls. I tried the chicken shawarma plate with yogurt salad and tabouleh. The shish kabob was delicious - perfectly cooked, perfectly seasons, shish kabob heaven. My chicken shawarma was amazing. I had to fight off the fiance because he kept leaning over the table forking away pieces of my chicken. The yogurt salad was very good - and I'm not one who normally likes yogurt ... and the tabouleh was super fresh. Oh - and my pitas were freshly made and amazing. The family asked if we'd even like additional pitas after we devoured the ones that came with our meal. The prices are very reasonable, most sandwiches are $4.99 plates are $7.99 and come with two sides, combos are $9.99 and come with three sides. It's very cheap considering the amount of food that comes out on the plate. Homemade desserts are available and they're freshly made and catering is also available. I'd definitely go back - and I will. I'm eager to try the falafel. I'm hesitant to hit enter and actually post this review because I want to be able to get a seat when I visit Karams .... You folks don't bombard them now!
