Now I found this place cause I always look over into the plaza where Sol's used to be. This time it was a new place and it's Dominican again. We have at Sol's and knew Sol herself for years now. This place is half the size but better food. Don't tell Sol she will be mad. Today I did enjoy the Fried Pork Ribs with white rice and Red Beans. The ribs were fabulous and tender with a good bit of seasonings. Not hot cause true Dominican food is not spicy. The rice was fluffy and not a doughy mess that you usually get. The beans were also quite yummy. Now you add a little of their house made hot sauce and it picked them right up to spice heaven. Now this is a family place from a Brother Junior and his Sister Claudia. Well Claudia is now back in NYC but Junior is doing things right. The food is fresh and well seasoned and perfectly prepared. I can't wait to try this place again and a again. Mofongo is next up for me.

Found this by accident. Very small, but the food was very good. I had the garlic shrimp. Sides included yellow rice and black beans. Large portions, very friendly staff. Prices are reasonable. The seafood and rice was also very tasty. Not fancy, but is likely the Dominican version of a mom and pop diner.

If you read my reviews, you know how I feel about customer service. It is high up on the list. Unfortunately J.C. Dominican Restaurant has to get a 1 star review from me because of how horribly I was treated after a mistake they made. Ok here's the story... INITIAL ENCOUNTER: I had my eye on this restaurant ever since it opened and was waiting on my opportunity to visit them. I finally got the opportunity on a Saturday afternoon. The older lady who waited on me seemed very nice and willing to help me with choosing an item on the menu I'd like. I finally choose the chicharrones which is lightly fried chicken chunks with rice, beans, and plantains. It was on the lunch menu for $6 and some change but when she gave me my total it was $9 and change. I asked why and she said no lunch menu on weekends. (The menu didn't specify that) I let it go and handed her my card to pay for my food. She swiped once, waited, and said, "it didn't go through" and then swiped two more times before the receipt printed out. I took my food home. It was pretty good but small in portion. I decided at that time that it was good enough for me to return. BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. Later that week I checked my bank statement as I always do and I noticed that I had three of the same charges for J.C Dominican Restaurant. The three times I was told it didn't go through, it in fact had. So a meal that was $9 ended up being $27. I located my receipt and called them. The person who answer the phone claimed to be the manager and told me to bring in the receipt and bank statement and he'd refund me. When I got there, it was a completely different story. Some guy came from the back and told me yes he was the manager, then no he wasn't, then yes he was. Even with my receipt, bank statement, and me calling a bank representative to corroborate my claim, he wanted to tell me no, he wouldn't refund me. His reasoning was that they weren't over in their register. I was highly upset and offended. I honestly couldn't believe that this business was seriously not willing to rectify their mistake. I turned around and told everyone in the restaurant not to use cash because of what they were doing to me. It was at that point he said "how much do I owe you?!?! I guess to shut me up and he gave me my $19 and change. I could not believe how horribly I was treated for a mistake they made. He wanted me to let them keep the extra money they charged me. For that reason alone, I will not return. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!! If you decide to eat there, USE CASH!!!

Just drove twenty minutes out of my way to eat at this location and they were closed but their Yelp hours says they are open until 10PM and it's only 8:30PM.

A new ray of sunshine in the old Sol location. Half as big as before, the extra dining room is gone, taken over by another tenant. Lunch specials 11a-3p $5.95/$6.95/$7.95 I had the pernil, it wasn't like any I'd ever had, but very tasty. More like chunks of pork, mastitas, maybe, but roasted, not fried. Generous portions of rice and beans with meal. I ordered a side of tostones, got a full plate for two bucks. Breakfast available 9-11, five bucks and under. Very plain decor inside, 7 tables, 2 booths, but the food was good, and the staff friendly. I'll head back soon. 3.5 stars. Parking in this strip center can sometimes be a problem. --- Went back, good service, tasty food. Hope they find some customers; I was the only one there at lunch.

Highly Disappointed. Family of 5 denied service. YELP, Menu & Door says open til 10pm, it's 7pm, & "they are closed." When we walked in music blaring in the back and guys hanging out up front. BTW the OPEN light was still on. #NotHappy
