The place is small but clean. The server was very attentive. The prices are reasonable and serving portions are enough for 2. The kare-kare was spot on. The oxtail was tender and the peanut sauce was very flavorful. The vegetables were cooked just right. We also ordered the lechon kawali and it was so crispy and yummy! Th pork lumpia is also a sure thing. The entrees come with garlic rice - I wish they gave us double serving because it was so good! My daughter ordered the longsilog and she loved it. The pork adobo however had a bit too much of vinegar flavor for my liking. Overall a very satisfying truly authentic Filipino dining experience. Be prepared to wait as they cook your food to order... But well worth it. We will definitely dine here again the next time we're in town.

This place was not WOW! at all. I cannot understand how some have made this a 3 star location, let alone a 5 star. 1) The place had roaches near the table by the front window 2) the beef steak we ordered was not tender - couldnt even cut the meat with a knife. 3) overall food temp was cold 4) halo-halo was the worse we've ever tried. ice chunks were huge vs. shaved ice as supposed to be 5) slow to greet upon entry and we were the only ones there Definitely would not recommend.

The food was great - 4 stars. The hostess was the best - 5 stars. Unfortunately, the service was very slow. The hostess apologized and was sweet despite a rude customer. What made me give this place 3 stars is that I saw a cockroach on the table. Yikes!!!!!

Wow! Fil-Am is one of those rare places that cause me to make little happy sounds while I am eating. Its a small store front in a strip mall but dont be fooled! This place is Filipino food Nirvana. Since I had a friend along not totally familiar with Filipino cuisine I did stay slightly main stream with the order. Pancit Bihon which was a rainbow of flavors on its own and even better with a squeeze of lemon on top. Beef and the pork(with a sliver of heart of palm) Lumpia, crispy and delicious! Kawali pork which was crisp, crunchy and buttery soft all at the same time with a fantastic dipping sauce that had the tiniest hint of sweet , and pork Adobo that was fork tender in a really fragrant sauce spiced nicely. It was bowl scraping good. The portions are plentiful and served on china plates, always a pleasant add. The owner/operator/chefs greeted us warmly with big smiles and checked on us throughout the meal.

I decided to give this place a try because barbecue on a stick at the beach is closed for the month of September. Huge mistake! The chicken was hard and partially burnt. We could not even chew alot of it. It had good flavor but who cares when you can't chew it. The lumpia was room temperature but again it had good flavor. The vegetable pancit we ordered had meat in it so that was disappointing. The wait was long for the food but I had a big order. Hopefully, they will get better

We have eaten here twice already and so far so good. The pork lumpia was tasty, crispy, and reasonably priced. You get 12 med size lumpias for $6.95. We also have ordered Beef Mami, Lechon Kawali, Pancit Canton, and Sinigang with Pompano fish. So far everything we have ordered were tasty, fresh, and each entree is more than enough for 2 people except for the Sinigang with Pompano fish. For $10.95 you expect to get a WHOLE fish but no, you get half a fish only. Needless to say, this was not even enough for 1 person. Also, be patient while waiting for your order because the food is being cooked fresh and worth the wait. They seem to be short on help. The lady who served us today was running around like crazy and if she's not on the floor serving, she's in the kitchen helping. We hope that they are a success and that they will be open for a long time. It seems like the Filipino restaurants that have opened here in Jacksonville don't stay open very long.
