We usually love to eat here on Sunday. The food is good diner food and breakfast is all the time. But this past Sunday we requested a booth of the - counted on the way out - 7 open booths. I'm not comfortable eating three feet from the bathroom doors. Was told sorry this is all we have. Will never go back the way that was handled. Took my 30%+ tipping self off and found First Watch. Same price. Better service. THANK you for being rude. Never would have branched out otherwise!

Had the Wagon Wheel breakfast very good. Portion size could feed two people recommend. For a greasy spoon a lot better than IHOP or Denny's. The restaurant was very clean. Service was fast and good.

Authentic country cookin, a Jacksonville classic! This is one those restaurants where the sides are endless and you will want to try them all! The baby Lima beans are as good, maybe better, than my Aunt Virginia's! And the peach cobbler is wonderful!

This place is a good location, but that's where it ends. The decor is very plain and outdated. Semi western motif. There were some older patrons dining that looked like regulars. Food is nothing great. I had the Country Fried Steak and it was very tough to cut. Green Beans tasted like they came out of a No 10 can and Mashed Potatoes had the consistency and taste of instanant mashed. Wasn't impressed. & will not return.

There was a time when I would crave these restaurants for the biscuits and cane syrup. Although the syrup is still as delicious as ever, it can not disguise the bread lead that they are passing off as a biscuit. I don't even order them anymore. The eggs were dry, the sausage was burnt, but the French toast was ok. I drank water because the French toast was more sugar than I should consume in one sitting so I missed out on the hot chocolate with whipped cream. The 3 stars is for price, variety, and service. You get what you pay for, right? Well, you can choose from several breakfast, lunch, and dinner options and none will break the bank. And no matter how small or large your party, you'll likely get service with a smile. Everybody is always nice, working hard, serving quickly, and (if you are semi-regular) remembering your face. Nutshell: If you want a restaurant that feels like your oldest aunts house, go to Famous Amos.

Wanted some breakfast and was on the search for something new. Couldn't find and ended up trying a different location of Famous Amos. Was the same as the one on University. Average food with average service. Our food came out late (after 2 other tables sat down and ordered big meals) and my ham was cold and didn't seem like it was fully cooked. I had to keep asking for refill on my coffee too. I had the Wagon Wheel. Oh well back to the drawing board.

Great alternative to fast food while on the road. A little dirty (especially for a germaphobe like me). However, the food is good. Kids liked it and there are healthy options.

This place is terrible!! We went in there for breakfast this morning and we had to wait 20 minutes to he seated when there were only 5 people in the restaurant. Finally we get seated and out waitress just puts down 2 menus and leaves. There were 5 of us at the table!!! Another 10 minutes go by and she finally comes back to ask us what we want to drink and brings all the drinks back spilling them all because of how she was holding them and never left us straws. We figure out what we want and order but when the food came out half of it was cold so we told the waitress and she says oh would you like me to heat it up in the microwave for you? No I'm sorry, no I'll have them remake nothing! We tell her we are no longer interested in the pancakes since we would only get the microwaved and asked if she would take them back. She doesn't and still charged them to our bill. I was so done at this point since everything else tasted terrible that I just wanted my bill and left. I will never be going back to this restaurant.

I'm not ashamed to admit that this is one of my favorite restaurants in Jax. Probably because I grew up eating there with my family. The decor is still exactly the same and I think the waitstaff might still be the same, too. I have a handful of favorite dishes that I very rarely stray from and they come out delish every time: 1) The pan-fry breakfast. It doesn't get much better than this. Hashbrowns covered in green peppers, onions, cheese, and eggs. Simple and yummy. 2) Great northern beans with rice. Tear up some corn bread, throw it on top with a few splashes of tobasco sauce, and you're good to go. 3) Fried chicken breast covered in gravy. While I am now a vegetarian, this used to be one of my fav's. It has a weird yellow gravy on it. Not sure what it's made of and not sure if I want to know. But it's good. Trust me. 4) Vegetable plate. I'm a carb addict, and their wide variety of side items suits my starchy needs, just fine. I usually get the mashed potatoes, side salad (they have THE best ranch dressing), cornbread stuffing, and fried squash. I used to looove their sausage gravy, until I had the sausage gravy at the Fox. Way better. This place is nothing fancy. No frills, no happy waitstaff, no decor you can lose yourself in. Just greasy, yummy southern food.

decor is horribly outdated and a touch grimey looking. The food was OK kids chicken strips were VERY thin/flat, the potatoes were instant, the cabbage was steamed perfectly, and the beef steak was pretty good. Service was prompt and pleasant. A fresh coat of paint would do wonders for this place!

Delicious !!!! The restaurant may look outdated but we always come back for the quality of their foods. If you love Southern style home cooking, this restaurant is your place.

Great southern style diner type setup. I don't know if they are open 24 hours or just late night but we went there around 2:30am and had a tasty late night breakfast. Cheap prices and good southern cooking comfort food. The place is old and beat up and in need of updating but why bother, it is what it is... a good dive diner. Aside from the fact that I couldn't get the waitress to crack a smile with my over politeness, the food was tasty and cheap. Good grits!

Great soul food, ancient decor. This is one of my favorite places for a big southern breakfast (no matter the hour, well it's 24 hours only on the weekends now). Great sweet tea, delicious country ham, no problems with the eggs, bacon, or steak either. The fried chicken looked delicious but it was ordered by someone around us so we didn't get to taste it. The pancakes are the only thing there I'm not a fan of, but a friend who was with me swears by them. The best thing they have in my opinion are the biscuits, they are to die for. There's nothing better than a great biscuit with some butter and honey on it. Also of note, the hashbrowns were cooked extra crispy each time, just the way I like them and just the way I always order them no matter where I go and yet I seem to get them that way so rarely. Oh and the service is prompt and friendly with loads of southern charm and the prices are well, dirt cheap.
