Service was fast, food was cooked perfectly. My fiancée and I went to Famous Amos for brunch. Service was wonderful and the food came to the table within 10 minutes of ordering. Prices are great. I got biscuits and gravy with an over medium egg, and 2 pieces of toast. The gravy was thick and flavorful and the egg was cooked perfectly. The oil they used to fry the egg was superb. I will definitely come back.

Look to be honest if you go to Metro and say to yourself do I need a Breakfast so big that I will have to take it home and possibly throw it out, then think about Famous Amos. No you wont find cocktails, Eggs Benedict, Fancy breakfast menu just a good ole country type breakfast served by friendly staff and very helpful and attentive. My norm is 2 over easy, Hash Browns, Bacon and English muffin or white toast and coffee. Served very good and hot and consistently delicious. Stephanie and her co-workers work as a team, when I could not find one the other one backed her up. So if you ready for a good breakfast for a good price that you will eat in one sitting for nearly half the cost, FAMOUS AMOS is for you. They do have a Lunch and Dinner menu with Specials depending on the day of the week and I have not tried it but I intend too! Enjoy!

Great Homemade Fare!! The best food in Jacksonville!! Staff is warm, welcoming and helpful. We had the Basket of Fried Squash to share as an appetizer - came with homemade ranch dressing. I had the Southwest Turkey & Bacon Salad with fresh out-of-the-oven roasted turkey (so fresh you could smell it), and they even had homemade croutons! My husband had the Tuesday special - Homemade Pot Roast with the most delicious mashed potatoes and steamed cabbage. For dessert, I had the homemade Peach Cobbler and my husband had the homemade Bread Pudding. The fresh ingredients together with the care and attention given to the preparations of the food at Famous Amos are evident in every bite!! Highly recommend Famous Amos!

Good breakfast with hubby this morning. The outside was clean and inviting. No wait. Waitress sat us quickly. She was very polite. We ordered pecan waffle w/sausage and french toast w/bacon. We were asked if we wanted biscuits ---- umm not with french toast; my hubby said 'sure'. Wait for food was a little long, but not too bad. Now the true test --- how does the food taste? So - so. My french toast was nothing fancy but tasty; hubby's waffle was very thin and very light on pecans. My bacon was under cooked and hubby's sausage was crispy. The biscuits were hard and cold. We did not get a refill on water or coffee (well, my hubby had a second cup of coffee since there was coffee grounds in his first cup). Price was $15+ for a mediocre breakfast. Wish we had gone to IHOP! I would like to give them a second chance and maybe do a lunch or dinner, they had a good menu to choose from. Then I will either add or take away a star. Restaurant was very clean and decorated nicely; except maybe the shamrocks still on one set of lights and over the kitchen door. St. Patty's day was a long time ago, guess they have not dusted that since then. (ewww)

"Back in the day....." The only Famous Amos was in a tiny building on Powers Avenue, right by Fran's Bike Shop. Fran's is long gone and Famous Amos is down the street but the food is a good as it gets. The burger and the memories are still wonderful. I've been asked by three employees, "how's your lunch"? Well run establishment. Very clean for the lunch rush.

This is country cooking all the way! ;) This is a great place to come for some good southern food, breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food taste good and feels like grandma is in the kitchen cooking it for you. On my latest trip I met a new friend and we only got coffee and the fried squash, and I have to say they were both good even the coffee which is surprising because i generally like a really dark roast. The fried squash was perfect and seemed made in house I hate when restaurants get the frozen super thick breaded veggies so gross, but these were fresh squash lightly breaded and served with ranch dressing, yum! Also the prices are very resonable!

We ate breakfast here and it was delicious. Plus, the prices is what makes it even better. I got an egg, two slices of bacon, and biscuits and gravy. (Came w/ 3 biscuits.) It was only $6! Everything is cooked really well, and got to us in less than 10 minutes. My fiancée got biscuits and gravy also, 4 pieces of toast, (he tried four different jellies because why not?) and an over-medium egg which he said was perfect. The oil they use to cook it in was flavorful. Overall, it was a great experience and good for your money!

I've been going to this place my entire life. It's sad that this is one of the only Famos Amos' left. You don't go here for the awesome decor or the music, you go here because you want a cheap meal at an ungodly hour or want your 6 year old to experience having a grilled cheese sandwich just like you in the 80s. Great customer service, nice prices, clean enough.

If your looking for a home cooked meal Famous Amos is the place for you. And the price will fit anyone's budget. I recommend the Pot roast and steamed rice.

Good honest diner. Grits with fried tomato, fried okra, simple real coffee. Affordable, quick, and hospitable.

Service was a little slow. But the food was very good. A lot of food for an affordable price. I'd go again.
