We had the Tuptim Sampler, Tom Kha, Pad Thai, and Pad Woonsen. Everything was excellent. My 11 year old said "this is the best Thai I've ever had! " Keep up the good work. Thanks

Fantastic!! The Thai sweet and sour was beautifully prepared, and very fresh! Great Pad Thai!! The steamed dumplings were very very good!

Finally had a chance to try Tuptim today. I heeded the warnings with regards to service. Yes, it took awhile for a waitress to take our orders but not due to apathetic service. The lack of service was due to limited workers. There was only two waitresses working the floor with nine to ten tables between them. They were spread thin. They just need at least one more waitress/er to help carry the load. The other gentleman (manager?) was busy it seemed directing the waitresses & the kitchen. Once we placed in our orders, drunken noodles with tofu, spiciest and the pan king with beef, medium spice, the food came over relatively quick. It was pleasantly presented but also tasted as good as it looked. My drunken noodles were freshly cooked al dente with cubed stir fried tofu that still maintained their crispy exterior, regardless of the slaughter of the sauces & spices. Plus the veggies weren't over cooked & retained their crisp crunch. The pan king dish was quickly consumed by the S.O without any complaints. Food was spicily flavored that your acid reflux would thank you later. Yeah, service is understandably slow due to their circumstance but it is still friendly service & they won't neglect you. If you can handle the wait during lunch it is worth eating here. Another tip, if your meal isn't spicy enough to your personal preference, you can get them to bring out the spice rack for you. It was an ideal set up with three different types of chilies (dried ground thai chilies, red chili r paste, fresh thai peppers immersed in fish sauce) to intensify the hotness of your dish.

I mean, it's ok. Food is thoughtfully prepared, but the service has much to be desired. It's not ALL servers, just one that stood out as being super attitudinal. Food is decent, but service will probably keep me from returning. After all, we do have choices.

Had a bad experience! HUSBAND and I had stomach pains and had to run to bathroom after eating there. Service was blah. It was as if the waiter we had HAD NO LIFE... Almost like a walking zombie that had no energy. The food was less than mediocre for such an expensive price. $4.99 for 4 small bland tasting eggs rolls? never coming back again... I've had WAY better Thai food for cheaper price. VERY disappointed cuz they had good reviews... Oh well.

Big fan. This place looks nice (which is not all that important but it's a great place to take out of town company) and tastes delicious. The prices are a little bit more than what you might expect if you're looking for cheap Thai but the quality is way worth the extra few dollars. The portions are healthy and beautifully presented, I'm still a little girl when it comes to veggies made into the shapes of flowers - it's just pretty! Excellent date night material, or a girls night out!

While the name outside says Tuptim, the elephant inscribed tablecloth assures the real name of the restaurant. The lady told that they are on the final step in changing the name to Elephant Thai. The place gives a nice vibe when you enter, a combination of its Thai roots and modern at the same time, however, things like the carefree display of dish-cart, boxes and bucket near the tables reminds you that you are at Asian restaurant. It also has a inner dining room providing a little seclusion from the main floor. I got the Vegetarian green curry with medium heat. It was alright, definitely not one of the better Thai curries I've had but nothing bad either; just little disappointed that it had Asian eggplant while I was expecting Thai eggplant. Other ingredients looked and tasted fine. The lunch comes with a complimentary soup and egg-roll, nothing noteworthy, just something to indulge while waiting for the food. The lunch price is reasonable. While this place is really three star Thai restaurant, I am adding an extra star for free rice; I mean, I have seen many Asian restaurants especially the greedy Indian ones charging as much as two bucks for extra rice...here it is free, a great place for a rice-o-phile like me. Both the lady and the old guy were friendly and courteous and service was attentive. Overall, a decent Thai place to keep on rotation.

Hate to give this place only two stars but based on the pad see ew I had today, I'm afraid that's all it's got. Beef was leather. Can't bite, can't chew. Well barely. Noodles were leather-y. Taste of the overall dish was kinda just bland. Got the chicken satay which was much better, texture-wise. Proly won't be ordering from there again tho :(

They were really super nice people and the food was really good. The portion size are large and vary fare for the amount. Nice nice

I'm new to Thai but this place was awesome. I had the Amazing with chicken and went all in with the hot option. This came with the soup of the day and a spring roll. I'm not sure what the appetizer soup was but it was delicious. The spring roll was not greasy or heavy like some rolls can get. It was light, crisp, and scrumptious. The Amazing was steamed broccoli with peanut sauce and choice of meat. I went with chicken. The sauce was so so good. The heat was not a burn a hole in your mouth heat. It was a good flavorful heat. The occasional bit of roasted peanut in the sauce was delightful. The steamed chicken was the only part that was just okay. It came in thin strips and would have been better for me in small chunks instead. The service was great. We never had an empty water glass and the waitress even asked if I wanted more rice after she saw I was almost out. The price was great too. My meal was $7.95 with the lunch special. The portion size was filling. I was sad I didn't have room for desert. I think in total our bill was $17.00. My wife and I will definitely be going back to try some more.

The absolute worst Thai food I have ever had. Just jaw droppingly bad. Actually, let me rephrase that, Jaw CLOSINGLY bad. Because I never want that food in my mouth again. The Tom Kah Gai soup with tofu ( chicken lime lemongrass soup) had the flavor of mysteriously cloudy dishwater. There was only the broth and about 5 pieces of tofu in it. NO lemongrass, NO veggies, NO mushrooms, NO herbs, NO spices that I could discern of any kind. No Lime. From what my co-workers shared, theirs was equally tasteless. The egg roll was just as bad. The Thai ice tea tasted very strange, I can only describe it as "tinny, mineral, bitter" and I have tasted probably at least 75 Thai iced teas in my life. I would say I have an idea of what, approximately it is supposed to taste like. To add insult to injury, it left my system much, much too quickly if you catch my drift.

This place is bangarang (+5 if you get the reference without Google)! The food was amazing, the service was spot on, and the price was unbeatable. The three of us started with the satay and dumplings--both amazing--and I selected the shrimp and scallops. They were a tad small for my liking, but both were perfectly prepared, and deliciously seasoned. It was a great meal all around, and an experience not to be missed!

I had dinner here tonight on business with a colleague. I had the pad Thai and he had the Panang curry. Both dishes were excellent! We will definitely be back.

Looking for soup in a Sunday near our church and ended up here looking for some coconut milk soup. My kids had been fighting colds and that is what sounded good to them. My daughter ordered Thom Kha soup which she really enjoyed, while my son and I got a flavorful soup with fresh herbs which came with our dinner. My son then opted for Chicken Fried Rice, my daughter Pad Thai, while I ordered yellow curry, which came out a bit too spicy for me. No problem, we took that home to my spice loving wife and I replaced it with Amazing. Each dish was presented well, but was of average taste. In comparison to Pattaya Thai, Indochine or Green Papaya, they just don't measure up. But for a Sunday, when those places were closed or just too far away, this was a good alternative.

The only reason I don't come everyday is because I work in the schools and need to seriously budget for the summer when I won't have income. But, I come whenever I have a little extra to splurge or can convince someone else to come with. Everything I have had has been more delicious than anything I've ever eaten. I always think my memory fooled me but it's always just as good or better the next time I try food here. The owners even remember me and what I like to eat (even though I haven't been here THAT many times), which makes this place seem more intimate. My biggest regret? Not eating here more. I'm moving away and this is the only restaurant I'm going to miss from Jacksonville. I'm definitely going to stop by here whenever I'm even remotely close to this area! Note: The food is a little slow and the restaurant can sometimes be warm. But...it's worth it all for how good the food is!!!

A hidden gem! It doesn't seem like much from the outside, but the inside has nice decor, and a friendly staff. The shrimp pad thai and spring rolls are great and I'll be returning soon to try other dishes!

This is literally the worst Thai food I've ever eaten. I ordered take out but never again. The Panang curry was watery and flavorless and the papaya salad was bitter and didn't taste fresh. On top of all of that they didn't put the papaya salad in the right container and it spilled all over the place.

It's actually tuptim Thai. I was really confused because on here it says elephant Thai. The sign says tuptim, and also my GPS took me to the shopping center across from where it actually is. The woman's instructions on where it was located when I called were not good. She didn't even give me an address, just kept repeating something that I later figured out was "south side and baymeadows" which is not helpful. Considering there are 4-5 other Asian restaurants at south side and baymeadows. Once that's cleared up, the food is okay. Overpriced for the quality you get. They have a good variety of things, especially for a vegan so that's a plus. I had the tofu pad Thai with no egg, and I've had better. It's just okay. Also, I'm usually not a very picky eater so that's saying something. The tofu was overcooked to the point it didn't taste right, and there are plenty of noodles but not enough flavor on them. I ordered take out ahead of time and still waited a good 5-10 minutes before I got it, which sort of defeats the purpose.

I work and play in this area and this was the first time I stopped to eat here thanks to my fellows Yelpers reviews, There were five of us and as we entred we were graciously greeted and tucked into a quiet back room with a sweet ambiance. As we ordered and were waiting for our food the server was very attentive to our needs. I barely drank from my water glass and it was refilled. I had the Chicken Curry and found it a bit spicy but delectable. My friend had Pad Thai and was very delighted. We had several Tapas as in Steamed Dumplings and Steam rolls that were excellent. We shall return again.

This used to be our go to thai restaurant. If you're from the Jacksonville area- you know, great authentic thai cuisine is hard to come by. We lived in the area, and this was a regular spot for us. 3 years ago, we moved to St Augustine so we don't visit as frequently. Over the last 3 years it seems as though management and kitchen staff have changed each time we have gone. Today was the last time we will visit the establishment. I'll say that the service was very nice, the people were extremely polite and it was very clean- but the food was a huge let down. I got pad thai, and he got the amazing. It honestly smelled like bad fish. Thai/asian cuisine usually uses fish sauce in their meals- which is fine. But, for the food to smell of fish, heavily, with no fish in the dish... there is a problem. We also got crab ragoons, in which they are also filled with a curry sauce.... inside the ragoon. AWFUL. The food was so different than the last time we were there (6 months or more) we were truly shocked. It was honestly, not good. My heart broke a bit, as we both really loved this place before.

They are just not getting the definition of customer service. Always asking for refills just distant. Hot basil rice thai hot should be hotter. Im giving this another chance.

If you are craving Thai food, go here! If you've never tried it, go here and order the Pad Thai. It's an easy beginner dish. I usually order it with a spicy level 2, but the last time it was too spicy (more like a 4 or 5) and the cook made a brand new serving in less than 10 mins, no questions asked. My only complaint is that the restaurant is cluttered with non-business related items (not to be confused with dirty!) and it seems outdated. It does appear to very clean. Every time I visit, they are not busy... this is unfortunate because it does not represent the quality of their food and service. Spread the word!

Ordered in ..Could not do that through yelp so had to call them directly . A minimum order of $20 was required. Ordered the Chicken Pad Thai ( which has some good reviews) and the Shrimp Red Curry ...overall average food Chicken Pad Thai- Definitely not as good as the reviews mention . You would get a similar pad Thai at any decent Thai place...nothing to rave about Shrimp Red Curry- I am a big fan of the red curry and have enjoyed it at many Thai restaurants..It is one of the safest Thai dish to order..but this one was a disappointment..A little too sweet for my taste. It could have been an off day for the chef...Hope for better food next time around !

Tuptim Thai has worked its way back to be one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Jacksonville. We've been back half a dozen times or so since my last review and so far, the quality has been consistently good. We mostly order our favorites, which are the Tom Kha soup, Chicken Panang and Chicken Yellow Curry. The spiciness is a bit inconsistent sometimes though. Sometimes medium spice just doesn't taste at all spicy while other times it was sufficient (we are trying to cut down on drastic spicy food, otherwise, we used to only order Thai hot). We've also tried other dishes including their special whole fish dish, which the sauce was a bit sweet (matter of personal taste), but otherwise good. Our go-to place when having cravings for Thai food.

Fantastic restaurant that is under new management. The owners, Kacey and Eed are some of the most pleasant people I have ever met in the restaurant business. My boyfriend and I frequent this place every other week or so, and they always remember us by name and our orders. Speaking of orders, this is the best Pad Thai in Jacksonville. Hands Down.

"Excellent Food" Great place to eat. My wife has never had Thai food, and she normally finds a something to complain about all the time when we eat out. Not this time. This was a very enjoyable evening and she absolutely loved the food. Thanks for a wonderful evening.

We stopped by for dinner while in JAX for our frequent business trips. Appetizers were good (satays, calamari & rolls). The pad thai was very good and the prices were very reasonable. Definitely worth stopping by and certainly will be one of my favorites whenever I am in JAX.

READ THIS REVIEW! NEW OWNERS AS OF April 2, 2012. I visited this place before and after the new owners took over. I can say the food was pretty good with the old owners, but with the new owners the food is outstanding. The Tom Kha Gai soup is awesome. The drunken noodles are very good, and the sweet, sticky rice with mangoes is unlike any other dessert I've had! The quality of the food as well as the freshness was next level. I read in other reviews before going in that the atmosphere was authentic and it did not disappoint. And yes, you CAN get any of their dishes completely without spice if you choose. I've been to the other Thai restaurants around the Baymeadows area. Lemongrass' food all tastes the same and Pattaya Thai's quality just isn't there. If you like good quality, authentic Thai food, this is the place for you.

Heard about a new Thai restaurant in the Southside area of Jacksonville, FL. Went for lunch and was wowed by the beautiful interior: all wood paneling with many Thai prints, wooden elephant, attractive light fixtures and lighting A lovely server approached the table and told us about the lunch special: cup of soup, spring roll, jasmine rice and an entree all for $7.95. Asked the server, Aww, what she would order and she said her favorite was Pad Drunken Noodle and Pad Prik Khing. She was very knowledgeable and explained the dishes in detail. Started with the soup of the day, chicken vegetable. It was full of fresh vegetables and a tasty chicken stock with fresh cilantro. The spring rolls were served hot filled with clear noodles, carrots, cabbage, onion and celery. It was served with a sweet & sour sauce. I asked for some hot sauce and they brought 4 different condiments. There was Prik Nam Pla, garlic and chile, Srircha and dried chiles. They were fantastic. The Pad Drunken Noodles were perfect. I ordered it medium spicy and it was medium spicy. Flat rice noodles, onions, broccoli, carrots, tomatoes, mushrooms with a Thai Basil sauce. It was delicious. My friend had the Pad Prik Khing. Served with jasmine rice it was full of fresh vegetables including green beans, red bell peeper, broccoli and carrots with a Prig Khing Paste. Both dishes were very large and I have to say some of the freshest vegetables I have had in Jacksonville. Aww, the server asked if we would like dessert and we said we were too full. She still brought us a sample of Sweet, Sticky Rice with Mangos. ONE OF THE BEST THAI MEALS I HAVE EATEN.

I went to this place when it used to be a Japanese steak house. They have completely changed everything! It looks wonderful. The atmosphere is so genuine. There are orchids everywhere. Even 2 in the rest room. The wood paneling is so beautiful. If I hadn't liked this place I might have gone back just to enjoy the decor. The food was great. We tried the spring roll appetizers. They were very delicious. The sauce that it came with was amazing. I had the Cashew entree with chicken, with medium spice. It was very good. My veggies were a little undercooked but I like them crunchy. My friend ordered something and it came out as a mixture of 2 dishes. It was still good but not what he ordered. We also tried the coconut ice cream with fried banana coins. It was a perfect way to end a meal that was almost perfect.

Pitstopped here one Sunday evening after reading reviews, but pretty disappointed. Service was extremely slow despite place been only 20% full - took 15 minutes to get a drink and an order in, and after that good job we didn;t want more than one drink each. Food was also a bit disappointing - nothing wrong with it per se and spring and tuptim roll appetizers were good but entrees were just....nothing special. Compared to Asian Thai Palace (RIP) in St Aug, not even close as far as we were concerned, Maybe lunch is the best time to go.
