Cool Moose Coffee Company Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Third time here and really enjoyed my meal (got the homemade hash this time). Walk-up coffee bar is convenient and nice for when there's a wait for a table. I'm not vegan, but they have a good variety of options if you are. Their veggie burger is my favorite in the city. This place is quickly becoming my regular go-to eatery.

Went here with my girlfriend and we ordered an omelette and a waffle. The omelette came out 26 minutes before the waffle and the only remittance we received was a free coffee and a "sorry were backed up on waffles". The food and coffee wasn't bad but nothing special (and a little pricey).

I love this place, the enjoy the fact that I can sleep in on the weekends and can still go out and find a good brunch menu. After looking all over town on google I decided to come here with my boyfriend on a saturday for brunch. I loved my pesto croissant sandwich SO much that we came back the next day. If you want to come when they arent crowded, DONT GO ON SUNDAYS. Oh, and they dont serve lunch from the menu either on Sundays! Was so sad when I came in the next day to figure out I couldnt eat the turkey pesto croissant I had my heart set on.

Quirky and fun. Friendly and welcoming staff. Omelette was fluffy and home fries were perfect. Blueberry coffee amazing.

Update: I have visited this place several more times and it is a consistently good breakfast spot! The coffee bar always offers different flavors, and I enjoy trying the different ones they have. I am a big fan of the free wi-fi and love that they are dog friendly. The service is a little spotty, but all-in-all it's a pretty "cool" place for a Sunday Brunch-and the wait time is only a fraction of the one over at Metro. I say try it! :)

What a hip spot for breakfast! The Riverside area seems to always impress me with their restaurants and Cool Moose was no exception. This isn't a large restaurant, but we only had to wait for about 10 minutes on a Sunday morning. The coffee is self serve and I must say that enjoying a cup of blueberry coffee (yes, blueberry) was an excellent way to spend my wait. Upon being seated we were excited to see that there was a 2 for 1 bloody mary and mimosa special. In the end the deal came out to $4 for either 2 mimosas or 2 bloody mary's. GREAT BARGAIN! The service was very good and our waitres was quite attentive although she had quite a few tables. Everyone enjoyed their food. I got the hash and it was a really nice blend of fall flavors including butternut squash, brussel sprouts, and carnitas. I obviously enjoyed my breakfast at Cool Moose and hope to be back to try some more of the menu (or perhaps lunch) in the future!

I love this place! It's a great breakfast/brunch spot in Riverside. Cool casual atmosphere, delicious food. I've come here a couple of times and never had a bad meal. Definitely recommend ordering mimosas for brunch, they're refreshing and delicious! Always check out the specials menu, there are some great things on there! The staff and service are fantastic!

I'll be fair and give this place two stars as I haven't sat in for food yet, but my first impression was awful. The place is excessively crowded, which could be prevented with more seating. I stopped in today for a quick cup of coffee. Don't waste your time! The coffee is brewed so hot that it all tastes incredibly burnt! Go elsewhere if you just want coffee! Not to mention, it's self-service. Why? Pouring a cup of coffee is too much work? I don't know, but to pay for coffee and receive just a cup seems lazy to me. Especially if you're marketing yourself as a coffee shop.

I wanted to try this place for a while. It was OK. Nothing spectacular but good. They ran out of home fries which was disappointing. I tried the Farmers Market and Brie Omelette with side of bacon. The omelette was full of vegetables but just a little bland. Better with hot sauce. The bacon was overcooked even for me. Long time to get food as well.

I always forget about Cool Moose when thinking about breakfast/brunch options on the weekend, so I am so glad that my friend selected it as out meet up place this past weekend b/c it had been far too long since my last visit. On this particular outing I had the Farmer's Market & Brie Omelette and it was DELICIOUS! I subbed out the tomatoes for Andouille Sausage and it really took it to the next level. I will definitely be back soon! Oh and the mimosas were $4 and 2-4-1 :)

If your looking for a unique and cozy cafe this is the place to be. It has a great eclectic look and that New England touch. Other than how adorable the cool moose cafe appears, it's the full package. Their breakfast food is great, their service is great, and each item on the menu is creative in it's own...which made deciding very difficult! But one great attribute to this gem of a cafe is the coffee bar! All you can drink, and with flavors varying from French roast to wild mountain blueberry. I found this place online and naturally it found it's way to the top of my "must eat at" list. My boyfriend and I drove about 40 minutes just to have our Sunday brunch here, and it didn't fail to meet our expectations! I got the Portobello Breakfast and he ordered the Colombian Omelette. Then, of course, we couldn't resist trying the multigrain strawberry and white chocolate chip pancakes! If you like mushrooms then you'll love the portobello breakfast. It was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. My boyfriend said the Colombian omelette was great, a hearty omelette filled with juicy carnitas and veggies. Last but not least, the pancakes... They were worth every calorie and carb.

The wait staff is very courteous! There's plenty of seating, but it does get busy. They have incredible food, make sure to check out the special's board for additional things not on the menu. My personal favorite is the grilled blueberry muffin (they have other flavors too) . It's buttery, crispy edges are perfect on this soft, delicious muffin. They have a coffee and hot tea bar in the back corner, grab a mug and drink up! (If there's a wait, put your name in and grab a cup while you wait). Enjoy!

Stopped in to Cool Moose randomly while visiting friends in Jacksonville. We got there just a little after it opened and managed to get the last open table. After that, there was a line throughout the dining room and out the door for the remainder of our time there. It's a popular place and it's easy to see why. The menu is brief but with lots of options, and they also have a daily specials board that included some creative dishes. On this visit, we went a little more traditional and ordered from the regular menu. I opted for the Hello (everything bagel with cream cheese, capers, tomatoes, and onions and I opted for the fresh salmon for $1.99/ounce extra), and my fiance ordered the traditional eggs benedict. The coffee is self-serve and unlimited. They serve a Sweetwater blend (which was rather bitter, like it had been sitting there a while) and several varieties of Green Mountain coffee (they cycled through blueberry, pecan, hazelnut, and pumpkin spice while we were there and all were good). Nothing super special here but good enough. My bagel/salmon combo was really quite delicious. They gave me a generous amount of capers, onions, cream cheese, and tomatoes. For only $3.89, this is quite the deal! The one ounce of salmon I ordered was plenty to have a bit of fish on both sides of the bagel. This is probably the cheapest yet best lox/bagel combos I've ever had. My fiance enjoyed his eggs benedict ($8.59) as well. It was served with a side of potatoes, which were thoroughly seasoned and rather tasty. (My fork found his plate quite a few times.) The wait staff was very friendly and provided prompt, courteous service. We lost track of which waitress was ours, but it seems like they all work in tandem, especially when it gets really busy. Overall, we were satisfied with our meal and would return again if we're ever in the area.

Here is what I like about Cool Moose. The name and the coffee. That's it. The place is trying very hard to be a college, hipster coffee house but fails. It's just plain filthy. The first time I walked in I couldn't find a seat because every vacant table had soiled dishes still on them which the flies were having a dandy time with. The second time I ordered a sandwich with sweet potato fried. Fries burnt and sandwich so thin I could see through it. And by the way it took forever for my order to get filled. The third trip was for breakfast. Ordered eggs benedict. Again the order took forever and when it did arrive the eggs were stone cold and hard as a rock. Each time I said something the waitresses never seemed to care. Three strikes and you're out. I do like the coffee, but Bold Bean is better.

I do like breakfast places so I'm automatically predisposed to being happy at these types is establishments. Sometimes, simple and well done is all you want first thing in the morning. Added bonus for me is that it's local and has a neighborhood feel to it, not a chain restaurant blandness. Unlimited coffee: NICE! Omelets: good and didn't skimp on ingredients. So far, that's all I've had the past three times I've been. I should branch out I know but I can confidently say the omelettes are worth returning for.

I came to Jacksonville for the weekend and asked around for a good Sunday brunch spot. This place is a hidden gem. I had the desayuno de Costa Rico, Belgian waffle and 2-for-1 mimosas. Everything was delicious. If you order the desayuno de Costa Rico make sure you get salsa and sour cream on the side! You won't regret it.

I had the Portobella bake and my husband had the vegetarian and homemade hash. He had ordered the homemade, with pork, but they accidentally brought him the vegetarian version. They realized the mistake and brought him the correct meal. He said the vegetarian one was actually better. Coffee is at a serve yourself bar so that might not be convenient if you have a larger party. Prices are reasonable, food is tasty, and servers are friendly.

Nice fancy place. Love the set up. Very artistic and hipster place. Breakfast on Sunday was pretty busy. I had grilled portobello and eggs. It was delicious and healthy. Breakfast red potato was really good! There were bottomless coffee and tea area for a little over $2. Or you can also order by to go cup is cheaper if you aren't planning on sitting around and drink coffee all day. There were several coffee flavors there. Nice outside sitting area with doggy bowl. The price is good. Lunch menu look awesome. Would defiantly want to go back and try panene.

Wow! Another great find that would not have been found without the help of yelp. This is one of those places you'd expect to see on Diners, Drive - ins & Dives. The decor is very eclectic and interesting. There is a dog board where people have taken pictures of their dogs. Dogs are welcome as there is outdoor seating and a water bowl for them. Certainly a sign that this is a locals place which was evident by the customers who were present. It was very noisy but that is surely due to the small size of the business. If you are trading this I would guess you ready for me to actually day something about the food. I orders the Cheddar and Chorizo omelet with home fries and rye toast. It was pretty good, not as fluffy as I had hoped for but was still very tasty. My wife ordered the portobello which was stuffed with spinach, onion, tomatoes and garlic. It was them topped with a over easy egg to accompany her home fries and English muffin. She really enjoyed it. I also tried their Southern pecan coffee and had two cups. It was very good and the coffee is self serve. We plan to go back as i want to try their multi grain pancakes with strawberries and banana as they looked amazing. My wife thought the multigrain bagel with cream cheese, red onions, capers, and salmon looked delicious.

When we first walked in we were quite taken with just how unique the place is. We came here for breakfast after seeing some Yelpers recommend it and we were disappointed. The menu has some interesting things on it and based on my initial review of the menu and the recommendation from the server, I got the portabella stuffed mushroom. It has onions, spinach, garlic, tomatoes and was topped with two eggs and came with a side of home fries and I chose the English muffin. It was so yummy. My husband had an omelet with chorizo sausage and cheese with a side of toast and home fries. It was all very good. And I even semi-liked the coffee and I don't typically like ANY coffee! We will be back.

I love this little place, the coffee was great, their cheesy grits were awesome and so was the breakfast burrito. It was busy on Sunday morning but still the service was fast and friendly.

This was the first place I ate brunch in Jacksonville while visiting a friend. We ordered 2-4-1 mimosas then bloody marys which were good but perhaps the bloodys could use a bit more of a kick. We were really hoping for bottomless mimosas but 2-4-1 isn't bad. The food was tasty and the menu had more than enough options to choose from. The ambiance and personality of the place was eclectic while feeling homey with it's interesting decor. What I would've liked to see was quicker service and perhaps more space than the cramped one provided for our table of five. It is especially uncomfortable inside if you are quite tall such as my friend who is 6'6. Overall, this is a place I would visit again but would probably request sitting outside.

This is definitely more a Breakfast & Brunch place than a Coffee & Tea place. Not that it's a bad thing. I just call it like it is. Don't get me wrong, they make an excellent Hazelnut Cappuccino, but I felt a little out of place when we informed the hostess we were only there for coffee. We wanted to try a new & different place from our typical (excellent) standard of Bold Bean. I guess I was a little thrown by the name. With Coffee Company in the name, I made the assumption they were a coffee place that happened to serve good food. But it turns out they're more of a cafe that happens to serve really good coffee. We will be back to pet the moose and give them an official visit now that we know what goes down. ****Update August 2014***** Went back to pet the moose & wasn't knocked off my ride. The chicken & waffles were good, but I've had better. I was impressed with the croissant, but not so much with the brewed coffee. So now I know - If I'm in the area I can stop for a cappuccino & a pastry, but don't need to worry about much else.

Cool Moose is pretty tasty & a nice weekend breakfast spot in Riverside. Unfortunately, it can be a little cramped, & while the staff is nice enough to try to accomodate everyone, most of the time that means your small table is within 2 feet of someone else's. I love their breakfast burrito, pancakes & egg sandwiches. They usually have fantastic specials as well!

I asked via cell if they made Pour Overs or French Press and got a Yes response. Although they roast their own Beans, I wasn't expecting the Small Town version of the Hampton Inn Huge coffee Urn when I arrived. I just left the Marriott, in search of an awesome Cup and although impressed by the Cafes layout, deflated by the lack of specialized Coffee

I am so glad this place has endured through the years! A must-try for brunch, the 2-for-1 mimosas (OJ or grapefruit) on Sundays are a do-er. Favorites include the Columbian omelet, hash and the scrambler. Fun specials have featured maple bacon donuts and chicken & waffles.

Portions are great and so is the food! My fave are the hash browns. I love having breakfast at any time during the day, so having it for lunch was sweet :) Coffee there is amazing and the flavors are so interesting. The servers are super nice and helpful as well! Cool Moose is a cute little restaurant in Riverside with a super chill vibe. Try it our for sure!

Before heading off on our Free Comic Book Day adventure, my niece and I decided on Cool Moose for breakfast. It was a rainy, dreary day and it seemed many others had our same idea. Upon walking in, there were no tables available, so we just sat and the counter. This place is completely reminiscent of the little family owned breakfast joints back home in CT, and throughout New England. I spotted some Red Sox memorabilia and asked our waitress who the Boston fan was. Apparently, the owner is originally from Maine. So yay for finding some hometown feel down South! My one goal, here in Jax, is to find a place that does good corned beef hash. I haven't been able to find a joint down here, as of yet, that does it justice. As a rather New England-ish place, I asked if it was a part of their daily menu, but I was let down to find out that it only comes as a special on certain days. I guess I'll just have to keep a look out for when it comes up. My niece ordered a BLT with some silver dollar pancakes, and I ordered a Bacon and Egg sandwich with some home fries. My sandwich was huge and I could hardly finish it. I was a little let down on my home fries as they were just chunks of red potatoes, and not what I'd expect, but they were good nonetheless. All the waitresses were welcoming and awesome. I really enjoyed Cool Moose and plan to head back for breakfast some time soon.

This is a cute little restaurant in my neck of the woods good for breakfast, pastries, and a light lunch. I split the portabella mushroom omelette with sides and that was plenty for a light breakfast for two. The best part is the cool atmosphere and the all you can drink self-serve coffee area. The wait staff is polite and attentive with no attitude. My kind of place. :)

It was our (my son and I) first visit to Cool moose since moving to Riverside. It took about 10 minutes to seat us so we sat at the bar and ordered coffee and apple juice. The dark roast coffee was very tasty and not overly bitter. I recommend you try the blueberry coffee. Once seated I ordered one of the specials which was a hash of potatoes, butternut squash, beets, and kale greens topped with 2 eggs. I asked for my eggs "over medium." My eggs were cooked perfect and I was surprised at how delicious this "hash" came out to be! We also had a side of bacon, they serve thin bacon which I love. The prices are very reasonable and the food is delicious. I'll definitely be going back.

Cool Moose came across as an establishment that was trying too hard to hit on every aspect of the coffee house/vegan/indie music/hipster genre of what you'd expect in a movie setting. In trying too hard it came up short on ambiance and layout. That being said, the food and service was truly exceptional. I had the Vegan Chili and a Cobb salad. The chili was more of a soup/porridge was truly spectacular, while the cobb salad was filling and fresh. Desert was homemade and both the banana bread and brownie were tasty without being overbearing. Service was attentive and focused, while still maintaining the laid back vibe that all the staff seemed to be aiming for. Glad I was told to check it out and while I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again, if I am on Park, I'll definitely return.

The food is nothing fancy, but really delicious! It's a fun atmosphere and I love the coffee bar. The place can get pretty crowded and noisy, and often has a wait for brunch on the weekends. But definitely worth it! They will usually give you water or let you help yourself to the coffee bar while you wait.

Cool moose cafe review. "I salute you, construction worker eating Lunchables and drinking a juice bag in the cafe with your crew." Come to Cool Moose for an exceptional coffee house experience. Its a small cafe across from the Walgreens on Park Ave. and its a hidden Riverside gem. Not as well known or popular as Bold Bean coffee but nonetheless they serve an exceptional cup of coffee. This cafe serves coffee so strong it turns anxiety over a day's work into pure existential terror. FOUR STARS! Order a hot chai tea latte with ample amounts of delicious foam and a artistically sprinkled cinnamon on top ---unsweetened of course so none of that diabetic coma inducing fake chai syrup from Starbucks-- which was a phenomenal surprise this afternoon as I waited for my seven month old pup to get a paw-dicure. Additionally pleasure yourself with one of their muffins served in halves with butter and toasted. Amazing balls. I love the character of Riverside and the stores in it. I've always enjoyed the atmosphere at Cool Moose, I love living in this part of town and being around people from a wide range of walks of life. But of course, every now and then you'll find a scene of humorousness at places like these. Hell hath no awkwardness like two hipsters fighting over the last open outlet in a cafe The waitresses are always polite and cordial. So please folks, tip your lovely Cool Moose muffin maven. As my G-Pa would say I was, "More than enough happy" here.

Not here to give them a bad review, but my Everything Bagel was bleh, had no flavor, so I was glad I had a bagel that had Egg and Cheese. Bagels are NOT Cool Moose's strong suit, but their Coffee was great. Bottomless and great flavors. The atmosphere is hopping and i saw a LOT of friends there who just happened to stop by. Service was fantastic and the coffee was great too! Just not the bagel. I'll go back, but I will skip the bagel, and suggest that Cool Moose get rid of their bagel sandwich if they plan to keep the same ones they have now.

Good but not great. Crowded. Service is adequate. Nice hipster vibe. Have gotten the burrito which was good. Got salmon on a bagel and it wasn't too fresh. Nice enough but, again, doesn't knock my socks off.

Innovative and definitely different. A breakfast & lunch restaurant that serves beer and an eclectic brand of foods was a good idea to me today, so we made our way there. This friendly little place needed no introduction as we made our presence known there and were promptly seated among a casual crowd and a photographic essay of nature that adorned the walls. My usual question to open with in any restaurant, when mapping out the meal strategy, is to find out what is the signature plate of the venue. Where a restaurant puts its pride and most heartfelt work in the kitchen is what I want to know about. When the response from the server is "the daily specials", I usually smile and nod to give them a pass as it then becomes my game to uncover the venue's raison d'être (reason of being). That was today's (non-) response....and the tomato soup. As we worked on the rays of sunshine on our plates, the croissants and the salads, the noted tomato soup followed with a delicious creamy element to it. The following main plates of French Dip (a special of the day) and the 1/2 lbs burger brought clouds with them. They were of average quality and were missing elements such as no au jus (dip) and real flavor behind the salted meats. Then I stopped looking at everything so seriously: being it was only lunch and my first visit, I realized picking apart everything and trying to find the management lesson afterwards was probably going too far. The service was good by any standard and I thought I would return for breakfast or lunch again in the future.

Great Jacksonville brunch and breakfast spot. Lunch is hit or miss, but I've always enjoyed the breakfast. Mon-Sat is breakfast until 11 I think, and Sunday is all day. They have a bottomless coffee option that is pour your own, and usually have a fun selection of flavors to choose from. Today I mixed a vanilla cream and hazelnut. The breakfast menu is huge and delicious, with make your own omelette options, simple breakfast sandwiches, waffles and French toast, fun eggs Benny combos, and several daily specials (today was a delicious looking egg and hash combo with avocado, asparagus, and pork belly bacon.) I ordered my usual breakfast favorite- the stuffed portobello cap with tomatoes and spinach- topped with two eggs over easy. Came with great home fries and toast. (The portions are wonderful.) The vibe is laid back and a little hipster, which can unfortunately seem evident through their lackadaisical service. Let them know if you're in a rush, because otherwise they'll take their time. Other than that, they are more than accommodating in terms of service.

OK they will be glad that I always give a new place 2 tries. This time was pretty bad if I most say so. I was looking for a new Sunday Breakfast morning place. I saw that The Cool Moose had the Corned Beef Hash that the wife likes. (PS she gets what she wants) Now I ordered the Desayuno of Costa Rico and it was not good. From the over cooked tortillas (I couldn't cut with a knife) to the off tasting chorizo sausage. Now the corned beef hash tasted quite tasty and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Now I did notice that most of the good stuff wasn't even n the menus. The only way I knew they had hash was a picture I saw on Yelp. Then the muffins I saw later on the bar (that looked delish) weren't on the menu either. I should have gotten them and next time I will. So we will eat here again and I hope they will be better. I do see a few things that I want to try.

Continuing my ongoing mission to find an establishment with the "bomb-diggety" corned beef hash breakfast as far as Jacksonville is concerned, I approached The Cool Moose with (I admit) some reluctance. I've scrolled through the reviews after all, which were mixed at best. Only one way to find out, right? Atmosphere: Woody. Wood tables, wood chairs, wood shelves, and a light woody fragrance wafting throughout. The walls and furniture are painted bright colors that capture the essence of spring/summer, and different knick-knacks from here and there (as well as moose dolls) are scattered about. They also have a self-serve coffee station, which is pretty cool as well. No need to flag somebody down for a refill here, just help yourself. Food: Ahem....although there were many breakfast items to choose from on the menu...I'm sure you can imagine my disappointment when corned beef hash wasn't among those listed. Maybe on the blackboard? Negative. It's only served on "special days," apparently, and obviously...this day was not one deemed special. But I was there and I was famished, so I settled for the breakfast burrito, which contained eggs, chorizo, onions, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and picante salsa. I'll say this much...It's BIG. Almost took up the entire plate. I couldn't finish it, as hungry as I was. As far as flavor it was pretty good, not phenomenal, maybe because it wasn't a burrito with "eclectic" or fancy ingredients, or maybe because my mind and appetite were in the market for something else. The service was friendly enough, they didn't ignore me, which is always a relief. And the wait for the food was minimal. The menu has a pretty good selection for breakfast and lunch, and I love the neighborhood! I think it would be worth it to see for yourself. They even have free Wi-Fi, and a bar area, which serves up a local brew on tap called "Shipwreck." P.S. If anyone happens to know what days or season or holiday etc. the corned beef hash breakfast is served, please let me know, as I am still on a mission!

I'm a huge fan of the cool moose. I have breakfast there about 1-2x a week. The servers are all very nice and pleasant. The food is always cooked perfectly and I have yet to have something I did not like. Coffee is self serve so you never have to wait. The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the cost for one person can easily add up. But, it clearly isn't enough to stop me from eating there often. My advice--order something from the blackboard. Always delicious and unique!

I've been going to cool movies since 2007 and it all started because of the veggie burger! I have gained two very close friends with a beautiful little boy just from dining the Cool Moose Café! The veggie burger and the Portobello sandwiches are my favorite lunches. For breakfast and/or brunch I would recommend pancakes or the egg benefits benefits with a side of Corn beef hash ...... need I say more?

Cool Moose is a fun place to go. It's located near the corner of Park & King, a great little stop just south of 5 Points in Riverside. There is plenty of parking on either side of Park Street, but please be patient when you have to back out of your spot since it is a busy little intersection. The restaurant itself, is clean and kitschy, cement floors, exposed rafters and decorated with Maine paraphernalia like license plates, paintings, knickknacks, etc. Nice surprise in NE Florida. There is free WiFi and a couple of outdoor tables. I've had a variety of food from Cool Moose and have enjoyed almost all of it. The self-serve coffee & tea bar is excellent and a really nice touch. They do a great breakfast here. Lots of variety in omelets and eggs Benedict and always fresh muffins. The breakfast sandwich on a croissant (panini-style) is huge and unbelievably delicious, a heck of a better deal than those fast food places that serve similar. Both the corned beef hash (handmade, not canned) and the home fries are fantastic - but don't order the grits. In fact, that is my only complaint - the grits taste like instant. Seriously, these are not Southern-style grits. Lunch is always good here too, good solid standard sandwiches. My husband is a huge fan of their Rubens and everyone I've met loves their sweet potato fries (except me, but then I just don't like sweet potatoes). Their soup menu changes daily, but keep an eye out for the butternut squash soup - my son raves about that. The prices are good. Yes, the service can be slow at times, but the food here is cooked from scratch and they do an excellent job at it - so I really don't mind. Tuesday-Friday - 8am-3pm (lunch at 11) Saturday - 8am-4pm (lunch at 12) Sunday - 8am-2pm (breakfast only) Monday- Closed

In the heart and soul of the hipster Riverside area. An it was quite a treat, they have a fun walk up an get your own coffee style. Try the blueberry one! an eat the cool moose breakfast plate!

Tasty tasty clean food. Our go to breakfast place.... Non corporate, a wonderful neighborhood place. Great coffee. Great service.

Great cafe! Lots of choices on the menu (both breakfast and lunch), not your typical diner fare. Had a superb veggie burger. I like the fact that they offer sweet potato fries as a side with no extra charge-- something yummy and different! Service was very fast and friendly, lots of good homemade desserts. FYI: espresso was rather strong, but very good

You have to try this place. Kind of a Metro Diner meets Northern Exposure. Good food and service

We sat outside at one of four small tables, and it was perfect weather for Saturday mid-morning breakfast. Despite driving by Cool Moose often, we'd never stopped in. There are lots of fun places to eat breakfast in this area, so it's tough to try something new sometimes. Not a huge breakfast person, I ordered a side of corned beef hash, a side of grits and the home fries - red-skinned potatoes with pepper and seasoning. Everything was good, but nothing stood out. Boyfriend ordered a breakfast sandwich and wasn't overly impressed. I had a flavored coffee (you get it yourself, which is nice, so you can refill as you please and switch it up) - blueberry Green Mountain coffee, and it was good. Our waitress was nice and the restaurant's inside atmosphere is fun, and slightly hipster.

Good neighborhood spot for breakfast/lunch. I saw they had brunch drinks(mimosas) which makes it a winner in my book. Amazing beer selection from Maine! Coffee from green mountain and the salad, omelette and sandwiches I've had we're all tasty. Great atmosphere and location!

I wandered in to Cool Moose at around 2:00 PM, so definitely not a peak meal time. I was actually just looking to get some coffee, but then decided I might as well eat some lunch. I looked over the menu and opted for the chicken salad croissant and sweet potato fries. Oh. My. These were the best sweet potato fries I have ever had! They were fresh and hot and just the right amount of crispy, with a very nice sprinkling of sugar on the outside. I could have made a meal just out of those, they definitely gave me a lot of them! Sadly more than I could eat in one sitting along with the sandwich. The chicken salad croissant was very good as well! Yummy, buttery croissant with very good chicken salad, complete with pecans. Sine I came for coffee, I got a cup of the Southern Pecan. Mmmmmm, soo good! I don't get over to Park Street very much, but will definitely will be back whenever I can! I have a feeling I will be craving those fries often.

I was in Jacksonville over the weekend for the 26.2 with Donna Breast Cancer Marathon. We went to Cool Moose Coffee, Company for breakfast the day before. I try to eat mostly Paleo, especially right before a race. (Nobody wants to run for hours while having digestion issues). We ordered build-your-own omelets and they let us sub sweet potato fries from the lunch menu in place of home fries and toast. It was a great meal, although it's admittedly hard to screw up eggs. Our server was very friendly and the serve-yourself coffee bar was a nice feature - no waving someone down every time you need a refill. Thanks for welcoming us runners to your city!

I usually like to drop in to sit and drink coffee. But today one of the employees asked me to leave, while I was still drinking my coffee and reading a magazine, because she wanted to give my chair to someone else. That one barista/waitress ruined my previous perception of the place. Notwithstanding, the coffee itself was good.

I didn't have any java at this coffee company, but I did have an oh, so, yummy soup and sandwich combo for lunch, and it really hit the savory spot on this windy, fall day. As some of my friends and closely following yelpers may know, I'm planning a move to the Riverside/Avondale area in the VERY near future. (Getting the slip from my beach landlord expedited this process considerably, but what can ya do?!) As we perused the shady neighborhood streets for the ever-elusive For Rent signs today, I began to notice two things. First, an ominous throat scratch that always seems to befall me at the onset of autumn, and a distinctive rumbling in my belly, signaling the less obtrusive affliction known as mid-afternoon hunger. My roomie is a big fan of Cool Moose, and I've always heard great things from friends and Yelp alike, so we strolled in to grab a bite and organize our list of potential new dwellings. Throat scratch in tow, I immediately decided on the Tomato Bisque with Australian Grilled Cheese on Texas Toast. When I'm sick or otherwise depleted, I have a tendency to eat like a toddler -- PBJ's, chicken soup, and chocolate chip cookies are all things I have pathetically cried out for from my bed at the annoyance of parents, roommates, and boyfriends alike. When my combo arrived, the first thing I noticed was that my Grilled Cheese was GINORMOUS! Fluffy, buttery Texas Toast was grilled up crisp with melty, white cheddar oozing from the center. The soup was served in a coffee mug, only adding to my childlike delight. I immediately dunked a corner of my sandwich into the piping hot bisque and dug in. Ahhhh, so good! Warm, melty, buttery and comforting. The only thing that could have made this better was if our waitress tucked me in with a blanket and read me a story while I ate...which obviously didn't happen, but I (guess) I won't hold that against them. All in all, the meal was super quick and exactly what I wanted; not always an easy thing to accomplish when you're dealing with a cranky, cold-having patron. Thanks to Cool Moose for putting up with me and putting me in a good mood despite myself today.

The fruit side dish is not fresh fruit and the Benny wasn't too good. This place was recommended to me, but I didn't enjoy it too much. A little pricey for what you get.

Cool Moose is one of those local gems that keeps me going back. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and a nice local feel are matched by their yummy food. Big fat muffins and self serve coffee are a great breakfast on the go option. Today we took advantage of lazy Sunday and tried the Costa Rican breakfast plate which is a generous portion of huevos con chorizo between tortillas, topped with tomatillo. Sweet plantains and rice with black beans are served as sides. Very tasty and a nice change from the usual breakfast fare.

Good, cheap food for breakfast and lunch. Place offers free wifi. Friendly waiters, but a little slow at times. It takes awhile for meals to come out, even when the place isn't busy.

First time here. Place is okay. Service was meh, kind of a little bit rude I thought. Girl served her friends first when apparently I arrived before them. Chai tea tasted horrible. Felt like I wasted my money. Never coming back here again.

Food was great, very well priced for the portion size. Service was very fast. Went around 2pm on a Friday and they were still serving breakfast. Daily specials which member of my party had the blackened mahi sandwich which he thoroughly enjoyed. I had a breakfast sandwich on English muffin. Will be coming back next time I am in Jacksonville.

I have had the shrimp po-boy here several times and have always enjoyed it. This is a very friendly place, when it gets crowded sometimes there are not enough waiters. Dont be afraid to go to the bar to ask for your bill etc., sometimes small resturants just cant handle large groups and give everyone a lot of attention. I have been told this place is good for breakfast but I have not gotten a chance to try it yet.

There are very mixed reviews on Cool Moose and it upsets me just a little bit. So obviously not everyone feels the same way I do about it. I'll tell you that this is one of my go-to places in the city. I don't have a favorite item on the menu because every time I go in I get something different. I think that says something for a place when I can be a regular and not have a regular dish because I like them all. It's typical breakfast food but a tad bit on the healthier side (depending on what you order) My food always tastes fresh and most of the time my service is nice. I take a lot of my out of town friends here just because of the atmosphere and they're open early. The blueberry coffee is a must have and when the season is right pumpkin spice coffee. After church on Sundays I find myself here often and getting a special off their menu board. This is one of my breakfast spots but during the week they do serve lunch. Since the reviews are so mixed, I highly suggest you going out and trying it for yourself.

I can't believe it has taken me so long to write a review for this place. When I normally go here, I'm on a times schedule and can not dine-in. I love there breakfast sandwiches, and the gyro is the best I've had on this side of the "Mason-Dixon line". I love all the cool stuff they have on the wall and the staff is always helpful, enthusiastic, and courteous. All in all, I'm glad this place is right down the street.

As the self-proclaimed breakfast guru of the greater Jacksonville Metropolitan area, I decided it was my moral imperative to give this place a try, especially after having heard so many mixed reviews. A couple girlfriends and I went on a Saturday morning, and my opinion is: two thumbs up. Since it's now officially fall (my faaaaavorite), the proverbial cherry on top for me was the self-serve pumpkin spice coffee. All the layers leading up to the coffee were equally as delightful. One of their specials that morning was biscuits and gravy. Naturally, that happened (thankfully they do half-orders). Their breakfast menu has a neat little history of eggs Benedict (incidentally my fellow-diners were descendants of the fella who created the dish...go figure). As is my problem most Saturdays, there were too many things on the menu that looked too good, so I got one of everything. I'm sure the flood of post-breast cancer 5K participants in their hot pink attire thoroughly enjoyed my smorgasbord of breakfast items that clearly all belonged to me (my inner chubby girl was quite content). Anyway, as previously mentioned, I've heard some mixed reviews about this place from some people I consider pretty credible, but my personal opinion is altogether positive, and since I'm the authority on Saturday breakfast, you should probably take my advice and give this place a try.

Why does this place have such a low review? I love it here. The atmosphere is great. Sure, the waitresses are a little slow but they are very friendly and when I come here, I'm in no rush. I've only had breakfast here and they've always been yummy. The coffee is self-serve and bottomless. Definitely will be coming here more often.

Well, since I am a huge breakfast aficionado I have been wanting to check out the Cool Moose since I moved to JAX and finally did but was not too impressed. It is on Park in the Riverside area and has a cool vibe and seems more like a typical San Francisco coffe house than a restaurant. Since I was fasting before getting some lab tests nearby and quite hungry, I went for the large Cool Moose Breakfast which is listed as two eggs cooked to order which were barely warm, two strips of smoked bacon that was flavorful but precooked, one whole hog sausage patty that was a bit greasy, home fries that were also barely warm and a double stack of some of the lightest and fluffiest pancakes I have had in JAX but barely the size of a small biscuit each For me pancakes is all about the syrup and theirs tastes like corn syrup flavored Aunt Jemima's. One pleasant feature of the Cool Moose is the self serve all you can drink coffee bar which I visited several times. Waitress was pleasant but breakfast with tip for one was a whopping $15.00. Overall tho, the Cool Moose may be a fun hip local cafe but it is not the kinda breakfast fare that wants me to return any time soon.

I discovered Cool Moose shortly before moving away from Jacksonville. It has got to be one of the best kept secrets of Riverside. For the price and quality of the food, as well as the hipster atmosphere, there can't be a better place for breakfast or brunch in this city. When I come to town, I insist on eating here for breakfast at least once during my visit. On the weekends, you will be hard-pressed to find a seat for you and your buddies. Just know that even though service is slow on days like those, it will be worth it to enjoy the tasty breakfast items while throwing down their awesomely brewed coffee!

We came here on purpose on recommendation from Yelp. Coffee is excellent, the Mountain Blueberry smelled amazing. The food is delicious and reasonably priced for the quality. From my observation today, might not be the best place to come if you are in a hurry. Has WiFi a plus. I definitely recommend a stop here.

Very nice place to have breakfast. Simple place but food is delicious. Very chill. Coffee is good and self-serve. I like the omelette as well as the over medium eggs. They have one of the best muffins I have ever taste. Price is decent too, I spend less here than IHOP and I leave very pleased. I prefer to go there on the weeks days because it is less crowed. Although in the weekend it gets pretty busy it still manage to be enjoyable.

Breakfast is consistently good. Place has a casual laid back feel that fits perfectly in the historic Riverside area. The serve yourself coffee bar allows patrons to indulge in a cup o' joe even when there is a wait. Treat yourself to the blueberry coffee, it's quite good.

I want to love this place. But it always lets me down in some little part. But it's never anything big enough to keep me away. Favorite part is the self serve coffee and tea. Mainly cause the service is iffy.

I would give it another 1/2 star if I could. It has a hip cafe feel with out the hip cafe price. The service was slow but not for lack of effort on the one girl working. I had two eggs scrambled with ham and cheddar cheese and it was perfect but it is hard to screw up scrambled eggs. The ham was quality deli ham and good cheddar cheese. The breakfast sausage was ok but not the best I have had. The pancakes had a good flavor and were light and fluffy. All in all not a bad place to have breakfast and the very reasonable price and good coffee make this worth a stop for breakfast. I was very tempted to give this four stars but the food was solid and good but not worth 4 stars when you factor in the ok service.

Some friends and I went to Cool Moose recently for breakfast and coffee. It was my first time, but they stop by several times a month. The coffee is awesome. They have an endless cup and great flavors, and it is self service. Everyone got something different to eat but we all agreed that it hit the spot. My only complaint would be the slow service. It wasn't that busy but it took the waitress a long time to take our orders. I'd for sure go back again.

This is the most frustrating place in the world, because it has the potential to be a great place -- great atmosphere and location -- but they manage to screw it up. I've been here so many times because I so badly want to frequent this place and want to give them the benefit of the doubt, but my patience has run out. This place simply sucks. Their coffee is good, when it's not cold, and when they aren't out... yes, this is a cafe that serves cold coffee, and sometimes runs out. Their food is also decent, when they bring it out within 30 minutes. Go to Pizza Palace, The Fox, or even Starbucks for breakfast/ lunch instead. I'm just trying to save people the disappointment of coming to such a great looking place, then having their hopes crushed by the lack of service.

The coffee was good. But that's about it. I went in to have brunch with a friend and was informed that the owner was out of town so they were out of most everything. They were out of onions and tomatoes just to mention a few. As if this wasn't bad enough, the service was slow and disjointed. We waited forever for our server, then she confused our order. She offered us hash browns only to return to inform us that there were no potatoes and offered us latkes. We watched her give the latkes to the table next to us (who informed her they had not ordered them and she said for them to "eat them anyway"). We never got our latkes. I order the Bagel that is supposed to come with salmon, capers, garlic, cream cheese, and tomato. I got a bagel with cream cheese, capers, and dollops of that chopped garlic from a jar. This was AWFUL!! I will NOT be back.

This place is ok. I had the breakfast portabello-- 2 poached eggs over some veggies. It was ok, but really minimal-- no frills. I guess I just like getting little surprise extras like toast or potatoes.... If I am too lazy to make my own eggs and don't feel like spending much, I guess I'd go back...Not a bad coffee shop tho- I like the self serve station.

  • Hilary L.

My favorite thing about Cool Moose is the self-serve coffee. It's fresh, it's strong, it's tasty [not the cheap, questionable kind at some diners]. Cool Moose has good coffee. Aside from that Cool Moose is kind of just another diner kind of place [even though there is no real counter to sit at] with your typical diner far... eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, corned beef hash, omelets, pancakes, what not, what not. For lunch they have sandwiches and salads and burgers and everything you would expect. The food is definitely good! It's reliable and good. There just really isn't a whole lot more to say about it than that. The atmosphere is nice, kind of rustic and wooden and kitschy. Sort of reminds me of something I might see in Denver. Don't ask me why. The location is nice too. Right down the way from Southern Crossing Antique Mall, which I love. And close to some other shops and restaurants and bars in the King Street District [Park and King crossroads]. Check it out!

  • Frank R.

This place had one of those counter persons who apparently was just there to kinda watch the place, and shouldn't be expected to actually KNOW anything. We were there the wrong time for any food other than bagels, which is what we had. The refill station (for hot coffee) was the only plus. I imagine a visit to CM would drive an average Starbuck's customer NUTS! I only went there one other time, and these two patrons had their heads bowed in prayer. That's Jacksonville (and supposedly the hippest part of it) for ya. Not cool. And, I bet, not even very moose-y.

I really like going to the Cool Moose. They have a pretty good selection of different coffee that is self serve. Sometimes you're forced to try something different because they don't always have the one you like, but such is life. I really like the food there. Haven't had a bad meal there. Service is normally decent enough and the prices are good. Seating can be limited so be sure and try and beat the church crowd.

Wow found this cafe on yelp.com and I must say the food was great! I had lunch while my husband ate breakfast. I had food from both our meals and it was ALL GREAT. I would definitely go back. The decor is artsy type nothing elegant but it's definitely a cute little spot to drop in for a great meal.

I think this place is A-OK, not terrific, but OK. Pros: 1) Good breakfast bagel sandwiches 2) Cheap prices 3) Friendly server 4) Free wifi Cons: 1) Hours. They are only open till 3pm and for a coffee shop to thrive, I think they need to be open quite a bit later than that. 2) Atmosphere is a little funky and could use a bit of attention, but this is only a minor con. 3) The time it takes to receive a food order. We were the only people in the restaurant on a Saturday afternoon and it took 25 minutes from the time we ordered to get our 2 bagel/egg sandwiches With all this said, I will go back there because I'd rather go to an independently owned, neighborhood place than a chain, but I would love to see this place make a few changes and become a terrific place to go eat and have coffee.

It is a really nice place. They have good breakfast and they have on Sunday only breakfast. I always eat the chipotle shrimp po-boy and it is delicious. The cookies are awesome. If you have the opportunity. You should have one. The last time I got the hot orange muffing with honey. Sooooooo good!!! I recommend this place to anyone. Only you need to be a little patient because it is always full and it is always full of people

I've only been once - on my last day of being a Floridian. Wish I had gone somewhere else, but it was the closest locale to my brother's house. It was super crowded, no place to sit, not enough wait staff, we had to clean off our table which was STILL dirty while we ate. We didn't get taken care of and the food was just OK.

  • Jessica C.

Cool Moose Coffee Company was a really nice place. There is parking right in front, the food was just ok but the service makes up for it (or at least it did in my case). Also, seating was limited for the amount of people that were there. In conclusion, Don't go for the food, go for the ambiance :)
