If possible to give minus stars I would. The queso w meat was runny tasteless and not at all good. The chips were hard and stale but even worse the food...The rice was bland over cooked and gummy, the Burrito Asada was made with carnitas and covered with runny guacamole, runny sour cream, and way too much shredded lettuce. Absolutely the WORST representation of Mexican food I have ever tasted. The service was horrible,I had to find the hostess to get our drinks refilled and we waited almost 30 mins for our food. This was a one and done for us. We will NEVER go back

The food here is delicious; big portions and great prices. My favorite thing to order is the jalisco fajitas: It's basically the perfect mix of steak,.chicken and shrimp tossed with red peppers, green peppers and onions served with refried beans, rice and a plate of tomato, lettuce, shredded cheese, and guacamole (I always order an extra side of guac because it is literally just a scoop). Oh right, and the tortillas which if I am feeling healthy I skip. I only gave this place 4 stars because their guacamole simply isn't the best in texture; it tastes great but it's almost like a puree. I prefer a guacamole I can see chunks of avocado and all its yummy ingredients in. Service here has always been spot on; food comes out quickly and everyone is very attentive and friendly. Their margaritas are delicious! Strong and just right in taste, not too sweet like other places. They have an awesome lunch special, bogo magaritas--yum!

Came here for the second time and horrible. Nobody talked to us for 5 minutes. Two employees looked directly at us and nobody acknowledged us. Very sad. We ended up just leaving.

Went here for margaritas and appetizers. Was impressed with their queso blanco. Margaritas were basic but had a kick. Not authentic but good none the less.

Perfectly acceptable mexican food, the portions were HUGE. I had a enchilada, tamale, rice and beans combo and ate it for 3 meals. Everything about this place is just "OK". OK service, OK chips and salsa and OK food. It looks like they have a huge and well stocked bar, but I've never ordered a drink there. A nice place for a quick and inexpensive meal.

Hands down the best food for little money! I eat here at least once a week! We absolutely love the Enchiladas Rancheras! We also enjoy their Hawaiian Fajitas. The staff are friendly and attentive and are beginning to know "our usual" without being told. And serving sizes are huge! A lot of bang for your buck!

Coming from Colorado it was very difficult to find good Mexican food here. Well, we found it. Extremely fast and friendly service. This place is awesome.

Authentic Mexican food is simple and yet, full of flavor. This is my first visit! This restaurant serves a huge variety of dishes, lunch specials and diner combinations. Kids meals include a drink and a few good options. I had some shrimp tacos (hard shell taco since I was feeling for something crispy) and they were great. One thing I noticed, they make the hard shell tacos here and also their own nachos. So don't expect salty! Some will call it bland, but salt is not the main ingredient here. The true flavors of what you are eating is there, just not with a load of salt.

A great Mexican place super close and convenient so I'm a bit biased. I do think it's better then La Nop. Food is better. Service is always great and everyone is so nice and courteous. I am addicted to their Cali burrito. Must try if in the area.

Sat for about 10 minutes, with no service at all. Saw other tables get sat around us after we came in and they were getting service. I waited around a bit longer, servers making eye contact, but no one ever coming over. We got up to ask about getting served, and there wasn't any one up front so we just left and went to long horn. It was pretty disappointing, I was really in the mood for Mexican, and I'm honestly not sure I'll be back. :(

This is my 3rd time coming to Cinco De Mayo in the last couple of months. Not because I am in love with it but primarily because it is down the street from my house. The first experience was almost a deal breaker for me not to come back when the server stole my $300 Gucci sunglasses that I accidently left on the table but after speaking to the manager & several hours they miraculously were returned & I got them back. This time my bf & I decided to get something different. He got the #1 which was 2 enchaladas, a taco & rice. I tried the rice & it was very bland. The beef enchalada was very good. My bf said his beef soft taco was good but just kind of plain. I had the kids taco salad. I asked the server what came on it & he explained beef, tomatoes, sour cream, lettuce & cheese. I asked for no tomatoes. When I received the salad I noticed there were refried beans mixed in. I HATE beans so immediately was irritated. The server came back a few moments later & apologized for forgettimg to tell me there were beans on the salad and brought me a new one. Although it was a kids meal it was extremely filling & I was only able to eat about half. All in all this is a mediocre Mexican restaurant with pretty cheap prices & decent food..the food comes out quick which was a plus!!

I never, ever complain about a restaurant. I've been a server and I more than understand, there is only so much a server, line cook, hostess can do. There's a first for everything though. Tonight we went to Cinco de Mayo twice; the first and the last time. There was a 'guest DJ' in the bar area, that had the music so incredibly loud, it was impossible to carry on a conversation, at our table. At one point, I was literally raising my voice to speak with my Dad, and he still couldn't hear me. We asked the hostess once and our server three times if the music could be turned down. Each time the said, 'DJ' would turn down the music, only to turn it up louder, 2 seconds later. Our son is autistic. Loud noises can easily, send him into a meltdown. When he was in the fetal position, in his grandmother's lap, with hands covering his ears, we were done. We had already mentioned, that our son was autistic and they just didn't seem to care. The food was good, but lesson learned and never again.

Food was fine but waitstaff was rude and in another world. Had to ask for things many times and we would see him do other things while our food got cold. Can't eat fajitas without tortillas. We are awesome tippers but this waiter was ridiculous. Perhaps he stayed out partying too late last night. I would NOT come again. Mexican food is a dime a dozen for sure. I have never been treated so rudely by a restaurant and its staff. My husband said they could not pay us to come back.

It looks like people are polarized when it comes to this place. I don't really understand it. We eat here all the time, primarily because it is right down the street. Things are definitely geared toward a gringo clientele, but if you ask, they'll bring out hotter sauces. Also, if you look past the combination plates there are lots of authentic Mexican dishes. I usually order the pork carnitas, and they rarely disappoint. I am particularly surprised to see people comment that they've had a bad experience with servers. One of the things we like about this place is the incredibly friendly, attentive staff. I guess experiences vary, but this is one of our primary "go to" joints. The whole family likes eating here.

We went to this restaurant last night for the first time & received horrible customer service. I ordered a meal that did not specify that their would be sour cream on top & when my husband told the waiter who brought the food to the table, he replied "did you not read the menu." I will never return to this place.

The food was worth a 3.5 but it was the overall experience was just eh- We ate here before a concert and there was now other table occupied before we got there. 2 other couples came in as we ate. The food was really good. I had a fajita steak salad. The meat was seasoned just right and very tender. The only thing wrong was there was no dressing at all offered or brought to me, and we ran out of salsa so I couldn't even use it as a condiment. My husband ordered a steak quesadilla and loved it. Our friends ordered the shrimp quesadilla and the beef tacos. Everything was very tasty. The chips were good but would've been better if they had been a little warm. The salsa was average and in my opinion needed either some cilantro or a little kick. The guacamole tasted like mashed avacado- no flavor just eh. As far as drinks, I ordered a Diet Coke and they brought me a diet Pepsi. That was a bit disappointing. My husband had a seven and seven double tall. His first drink looked like pure sprite. They were very weak on pouring the alcohol. The waiter was friendly but not very attentive. The bathrooms were clean. The employees I encountered on the way to the bathroom were very nice. It still seemed to lack in something. They weren't necessarily service friendly although they were personality friendly. With a bit more festive decorating, better customer service and the same food this restaurant could be a success. I'm going to give it a second shot just to see how it is next time.

Went there an hour before closing last night and the food tasted like it was made hours ago. It didn't taste like it was made fresh but was pretty good still. The food is just kinda plopped onto the plate but thats not that big of a deal considering it was tasty. The server was very nice and helpful when she did come around. There used to be one in Macclenny and I used to eat there all the time. Their chicken tacos and burritos were excellent.

First time was great. Walked in today, and not one person spoke to us. We sat at the bar for a while and no one was there. 2 guys saw us and nothing. No hello, no menu, no drink offer. No one. We left. We will never be back. You lost us.

First time eating here and enjoyed the ambiance and was surprised how delish the food were. I had 3 tacos (carnitas, pollo, asada) for $7.50, strawberry daq for $4 and my boyfriend had a really tall Dos Equis for $5, and a guacamole dip for $4. We were also served fresh salsa and good fried chips. Given the reasonable price, the food was very tasteful and coming from Cali we've tasted numerous mexfood and we can vouch that this food chain is one of the few local ones in JAX worth trying. Don't be surprised there isn't much cars parked outside the restaurant but may be because CINCO is fairly new :0)

Will not be back! Service was awful tonight! Also, when we got the bill they charged us for refills on coffee, are you kidding me!!! We even questioned the waiter and he said yes we charge for refills! I order the california buritto and for some reason the cheese was spicy hot, I always order this and it has never been spicy, also the plate my husband got was the polo loco and he never got his tortilla shells. But they charge extra for refills! Will be taking my business somewhere else. BEWARE IF YOU EAT HERE!!!!!!

Somewhere between 2.5 to 3 stars for this one. The food was good, not outstanding, but good. The problem was the service. The waiter took our order and then disappeared. We didn't see him again until we were done (and our drinks were empty) when he brought the check. We asked for a box and he said he would get it, but he never did. We sat there another 10 minutes at least, waiting for the box until we finally got another server to get us one. Good thing we were paying with cash and not credit card, who knows how long we would have sat there waiting for the receipt! It's a bummer 'cause we love Mexican, but the food wasn't amazing enough to overcome the bad service. Probably won't be back.

I love the food. I ordered the Burrito Mexicano and it was great. The meat was very seasoned and the portions are huge.

We had lunch here on August 18th, 12:40 pm. The food was hot and teriffic. Regular salsa and spicy green chilies salsa was full of flavor. The chips were warm and crisp. Cheryl had the nachos, the queso cheese and chicken, on the nachos was very tasty. I had the mini taco salads w/ cheese quesadilla, #3 lunch special. Very tasty dish. Our bill was $20.82, this included our two sodas. We were asked if we wanted "to go" drinks as well. Great experience, and we'll dine here again.

Took my mother here while she visited me for my birthday. Salsa was a purée, waitress was forgetful. Her butt was literally eating her pants, I mean don't get me wrong, we all enjoy a nice view but this was a little extreme. Prices are higher than most Mexican places locally, don't think we will be returning after this visit,

Pay with cash when you come here, otherwise you'll have other activities on your card account spent in Miami. I gave 1 star because food was good.

Had dinner here with my wife tonight and I wasn't impressed. Just an average Tex-Mex place that uses to much salt in their cooking and food prep. I had the #4 special which is 2-taco's(which were OK) an enchilada (which was too salty) and a chile con queso(which was real good) My wife ordered some special which was supposed to be 3 soft beef tacos and got 3 soft chicken tacos.(all way too salty) The Iced Tea was good and refilled in a timely fashion. The service was good but forgetful, they forgot to bring my wife's refried beans and rice until reminded, but when they did she said they were very good. Will we go back ... probably not, as there is a better Tex-Mex place much closer to us on University Blvd. My wife ordered a steak, shrimp and chicken Fajitas for our son who hadn't gotten home from work yet. He said the Fajita's were very good but a bit salty for his taste.

Good fajitas and homemade guacamole. Very similar type restaurant to La Napolera, but I like Cinco de Mayo a little better. Good food and service and probably the cleanest Mexican restaurant I've eaten at. Friendly staff too and a cool bar area.

Very comparable to La Napolera. Good food. Staff were very friendly but were MIA after we received our food. We waited about 15-20 minutes after eating for our check.

I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner. It was delicious. The place is clean the everyone was very courteous, pleasant and seemed very happy to help me. I have been here twice and both times they gave me more food than was humanly possible to eat. Food was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant. This is where I will come for my Mexican appetite.

Best place ever! We always search for places we don't have back in Texas and this was a pleasant surprise! Portions were huge and way more than you could eat! Taste was fabulous! We will be going again!

I love this place. The service was quick and we really felt welcomed when we walked in. The food came out hot and delicious. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that loves Mexican food, the portions are very large so you will have left overs to take home. Yummy!!!

This is undoubtably the worst Mexican food I have ever eaten, anywhere! The service was poor, the drinks lousy and the food absolutely horrible. We went here last night, in the pouring rain, and there were maybe 6 other people in the restaurant. It took forever to get 3 drinks-when the glass of wine arrived finally (it had been previously forgotten), there were cork bits floating in it. The margarita tasted like dishwater, and the salt asked for on the rim mostly nonexistent. The salsa was a joke-thin, watery tomato sauce with no taste whatsoever. We ordered the nachos supreme with fajita steak-when it arrived it had a huge slice of uncut tomato laying on the top of this pasty, glued together mess. The fajita meat was cold and so tough that you could not even chew it. We had requested the sour cream be served on the side-NOT! When we pointed this out to the server, her comment was "sorry 'bout that" as she walked away from the table. Another member of our party ordered burritoes with Mexican chile on top. The Mexican chili was a thin, orangy sauce with chunks of hamburger and no Mexican flavoring at all. This was so inedible that he did not eat but a few bites. We asked to speak to the manager, who offered more food, which of course by that point in time we had absolutely no interest in, but did not offer to remove anything from the bill. This was a total waste of time and money-needless to say, we will NEVER return!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
