Just driving by on our way to a favorite lunch place and saw this cute little barn and it's a BBQ place! So we stopped to try it. Great choice! Meagan was the sweetest waitress, wasted no time refilling our drinks, and was knowledgeable about the menu items. Love the atmosphere, my hubby even said he felt like he was back in Texas! There are even picnic tables on a deck outside! Look forward to sitting outside when the weather cools down. Oh, and the pulled pork was delicious! I think we'll try the pork wings and duck wings next time!

I enjoyed the service and the speed at which food was prepared. The smokin logs were a very interesting spin on a classic. Imagine a pulled pork sandwich and cole slaw turned into a wonderful egg roll served with a great sauce. However the baby back ribs were a little dry and I didn't find one sauce I enjoyed. They have five to choose from, but they all tasted like store bought "sweet baby rays." I really didn't like the mustard based sauce and that is generally my goto sauce. Lastly, the atmosphere was weird. It was half bar and half family sit down. The problem was that the bar atmosphere and music were not conducive to family dinning. For one thing the music was unedited and contained profane language. I was glad I came without my kids. In summary ok food, great service, and to much bar atmosphere for a family.

This place is a little difficult to get to even if you know where it is, but it's definitely worth the stop in. It smells just like a BBQ place should, a little smokey, but it just makes your mouth water even more. We tried a lot of what they had to offer in our visit. We split the choose 5 plate which is a great idea if you aren't sure what to try first. You MUST order the egg roll appetizer though!!! Pulled pork and coleslaw in egg roll form....YUM! The only thing I wish they differently here would be adding a few more local beer selections. They have a lot of beer to choose from, but it's more of the Bud, Bud Light, Mich Light variety.

First experience: good. Ordered take out and the food was delicious. Second experience: bad! My husband showed up right at closing time to try to inquire about a catering menu about a future order. Instead of explaining the restaurant was closed and that we wouldn't be able to place any order, a guy ran up to the door to lock it as my husband tried to reach for the door. My husband realized it was closing time, but at least tell him they are close and to call or come back later. The staff just looked at him from inside as he tried to speak to them. They all consciously ignored him as he's standing on the other side of the glass door and continued to fold napkins at the bar. So I guess just ignore your customers and they'll eventually go away? That right there, lost our business. Even though it's decent food and basically walking distance, we will go somewhere else. We actually got our party catered from mojo's. When my husband called and talk to a "manager" about it, the guy seemed, like at first, trying to be threatening because the call was after hours. He later then apologized, but it did not seem sincere. Doucheness won't get you anywhere.

The sliced pork sandwich was just ok. The service was unable to keep up with the demand of customers even though the restaurant is very small.

Customer service was ok the server took our order as soon as we was ready but never came to fill our drinks. The ribs and chicken was so dry the sauce didn't even help. I would never go there again for the price you would have thought much better than that. And they didn't even offer to replace our meals.

We really want this place to make it. Cute restaurant, wait staff very nice. First time we went, wonderful, large portions chicken on the bone excellent sides. 2nd time, chicken on the bone was small, but delicious. Sides were large and very good. 3rd time, we decided to try their sandwiches. We each ordered the pulled chicken sandwich and added $2.00 for side and a drink. The sandwich was small.. Very very small.. the chicken on the sandwich was barely there, appeared to be only dark meat thigh and drumstick. Been to a lot of bbq restaurants and this sandwich was the smallest I have seen. Ordered a take out pulled pork sandwhich for my mother. Her sandwhich had plenty on it and was sufficient. Dear owners, you have a good location and great tasting food. Would love more consistency with the portions. We spent $34.00 plus tip and left hungry due to the sandwiches.

Really good BBQ, awesome Onion Rings. The service was a lil slow but the Mgr. said that a couple of his people called out and that put them in a bind. This may be one of the bet BBQ places on the entire eastside of the St Johns River in all of Jacksonville, FL. We will definitely be returning here again and again.

I give it 5 stars but only on some of the food. Loaded fried with pulled pork and queso were delicious. The wings are smoked then fried and were great. The brisket was cut before serving and a little dry and the ribs are crispy if you like them that way. ..I don't. So the wings and pulled pork for me are 5 stars.

This place is an excellent value with extremely good barbecue. People aren't kidding when they say the smoking logs are one of their favorite items. We had them as well and I absolutely love them.

Well, we weren't looking for BBQ tonight so BBQ Barn was a spur of the moment decision...and boy was it a good one! The restaurant is quaint, clean, full of friendly service, and the food was awesome:) So glad we came here. We will be back!

Delicious food and fast service. Will be back again.

Some items are better than others, but overall the end result is average. No better or worse than any of the other BBQ places in Jax - we still don't have a single "good" one. The service is friendly and the place is small but clean, no complaints there. Best item is the peach cobbler - I'd go back for that, for sure. The meats and sides range from ok to poor. I wanted to like it better, but after a couple of visits, I've decided it is what it is - which isn't bad - but it is far from something I'd go out of my way to visit. If we need a quick meal near home and don't feel like cooking we could do worse.

Very nice well put together neighborhood BBQ place! Very clean place and great atmosphere and friendly staff. We had the smoking logs as an appetizer and they were really good. The wife had the beff brisket sandwich which was really good juicy and full of favor. I had the choose 2 meal with pork and turkey with Mac N cheese and sweet potato fries and everything was really good! I must recommend this place and if you live in the area you need to support your local businesses!!

First visit & it was fantastic! Got the pork, chicken & beef brisket combo. Most tender BBQ I think I've had anywhere. Service was fast & friendly, very clean. Come here & forget Sonny's & Bono's exist. Homemade warm peach cobbler for dessert was awesome! They also have homemade cheesecake.

If you have a kid in school you will know exactly what I'm talking about. BBQ Barn agreed to host a Spirit Night for my sons school band from Mayport Middle School. We flooded their business on a Tuesday night, standing room only, and they nearly ran out of food to serve. That was on February 19th and they still haven't paid the share they agreed to give the program. Every time a board member goes to talk to someone it's always, "sorry, there's no one here to help you" or "we don't know what your'e talking about". The owner wont return any phone calls either. Not cool!! Don't waste your money here folks. If they don't even care enough to uphold an agreement with an organization to help kids then I'm sure they put as much care into preparing their food!! What gives BBQ Barn? Pay up!!

We only live 1/2 mile down the road from this and finally called in for dinner tonight and it was awesome. Totally loved their dry rubbed ribs and brisket. It is the perfect blend of seasoning and not to much smoke. Good size portions and very reasonable prices, Give their coleslaw a miss though - it was weird tasting and their ice tea is very watery - but other than that it was a great meal and we will be regulars from now on.

I am a BBQ guru! I love the stuff and have tasted it from North Carolina to TN down to Texas. In a place where people call Sonnys BBQ good.. BBQ Barn raises the standard. Affordable and good food. 4 out of 5 is a great rating from me when it comes to BBQ. Their sauce is nothing special but it's good.

Went and got take out. Pretty quick and food was very good. A little pricy. I feel like it should have been a couple bucks cheaper but all in all a very good experience. Sauces are very good too. Especially the homemade mustard. I would definitely go back

Great dry rub on the ribs. The baked beans were outstanding. The Cole slaw has just the right amount of seasonings. Great pace to go for bbq.

My hubby just picked up our food. First time we have eaten there. Fabulous- everything was awesome. We are pretty picky and dont frewuent too many places. We will definitely be back!

We tried BBQ Barn last night for dinner. We called in out order and had the platter for 2. It was a good portion of chicken, brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. We tried coleslaw and mac and cheese for our sides. The Mac and cheese was bland and the coleslaw was pretty wilted. It came with garlic toast that was soggy. Such a bummer. The chicken was brisket was just ok, but the pork and sausage were tasty. We had sweet sauce and I agree with other reviewers when they said it tastes bottled at best. We might try it again, but we will never order take out again. The price was competitive and the employees are nice.

Amzing little mom and pop shop .I loved everything I tried

The BBQ Barn was fantastic. The ribs were meaty and tender. The beef brisket was some of the best brisket I've had outside of Texas. The chicken was moist and nicely smoked. The beans were well seasoned and best of all not sweet, too many BBQ places put too much sugar in their beans. I enjoyed the homemade key lime pie too, thick graham cracker crust with a tart lime filling.

Great small neighborhood BBQ joint! The BBQ is very tender and very well flavored. The BBQ sauces are wonderful, I can never just pick one out of the 5 they have. The sweet potato fries are so good. The mac and cheese, cole slaw, and baked beans are all great. They have some tasty and different appetizers and wings. Everything about this place is great, my family and I really enjoy it! I'd recommend it to everyone looking for BBQ!

Good bang for your buck! Plates are normal portions. Their potato salad is delicious! Had slaw tonight with the dry rubbed ribs. Juicy and fell off the bone. The pulled pork was a wee on the dry side so smother it with one of their yummy BBQ sauces, they have 5! Service is great!

Came here about a week after they opened. Delicious food and I love how their soft drinks are served in mason jars

Just stopped by the Red barn bbq on the way back from a day on the water. The place is super clean and looks the part of a small hole in wall bbq place. The food is awesome, reasonably priced and served with a smile. We got the corral "feast for 4" it was enough for 4 full grown men, with a wife and two kids we had plenty of leftovers. We will be back, it is 3 miles from home. Worth the drive for some great bbq and a cold beer.

First visit to the newest bbq place in the area. I was very excited to try a new place that wasn't part of a chain, because the mom 'n pop restaurants usually have original recipes and sauces. An added bonus is that it's close to my house. You can see I've left two stars...and that's because the description "Meh. I've experienced better." Fits perfectly. I may have went on a bad night or something...try it for yourself and see what you think. Read on for more detail.... Cleanliness, 5/5. The table and chairs we sat at were neat and clean. No sticky spots on the table and no crumbs on the seats. The restaurant was very bright and it appeared all the tables, bar, and floor were also clean. Service, 5/5. Our server...the name Taylor was on the receipt..was outstanding! She was fast, friendly, and attentive. Granted the restaurant was moderately busy and there were at least two other servers, so it would be easy to expect great service. Taylor didn't disappoint. She didn't rush us into ordering...ensured our food was brought out in order (appetizers first, then dinner)..offered to clear the table as we came closer to finishing...offered to-go drinks...and was quick with the check. Food (Quantity, appearance, taste): I ordered a three meat combo and chose St. Louis style ribs, sliced pork, and sliced brisket. My sides were green beans and corn on the cob. ...Quantity: 3/5. Pretty standard amount of food for a bbq place. The corn was the typical half-cob piece. Small dish of green beans. Two triangles of Texas toast. Two ribs about 6"-7" in length and a little light on the meat. The pork and brisket slices were kinda small and thin. We also had mozzarella sticks and onion rings as an appetizer...typical amounts there, too. Around 6 sticks and probably a dozen or so rings. Four choices of bbq sauce on the table: original, sweet, hot, and smokey. ...Appearance: 3/5. The food looked ok. It wasn't steaming, but it was still hot. The ribs and pork looked a little dry, but the brisket looked moist and unusually dark. The green beans looked like they came from a can. My son's grilled cheese sandwich was smashed and looked as if it needed a lot more cheese. The mozzarella sticks looked identical to Arby's. I wasn't turned off by the look of the food at all, but there was nothing about my plate that made me say or think, "Oooo! That looks good!" ...Taste: 2/5. While I didn't expect mind-blowing bbq, I did have the expectation that I would be eating bbq-style/tasting food. The first thing I had was a mozzarella stick. Yup, Arby's. When my plate arrived I dug into the green beans. They were very soft like the canned variety, but spiced and salted...reminded me of a different version of pickling juice, just no vinegar. Even if they were canned and spiced later or came out of a can tasting that way, they were good. The flavor was definitely unique and I liked it. The corn was very wet, no doubt kept in the hot water it was boiled in...no butter or seasonings. The rib I ate had a decent flavor and was a bit dry...not very smokey. The sliced pork was pink around the edges, I suspect from smoking, but it also was not that smokey. The brisket tasted like pot roast...and the moist look was from oils or fats on the meat. I tasted the burnt, red edge of the brisket and it did taste smokey, but only the edges really had a bbq flavor. I sampled my wife's okra and smoked sausage. Okra: super-breaded, kinda like the mozzarella sticks only with okra. Smoked sausage: tasted exactly like breakfast sausage and was very fatty. I didn't try the toast at all. The sauces, 3/5: I am certain their sauces are not home made. They all had that super processed look that store-bought sauce has. Despite that, the flavors were accurate. Hot had nice little zing to it. Overall, 2/5: One word sums up my experience: disappointed. The place was nice and clean and the atmosphere was good. It was nicely decorated and there were two tvs to watch. They also cool specials like 6 duck wings. I wanted to go out and eat bbq...and that craving was not satisfied. So even though Taylor and the green beans were commendable, my overall rating was low because some of the food just looked and tasted wrong. Every time we go out to eat bbq, I gorge myself on my plate and sample everyone else's, and go home almost uncomfortably full....that didn't happen tonight. I ate all but one rib and the toast Return factor, 0/5: Bbq is everywhere here. The BBQ Barn just took too many shortcuts with its primary product and it gave the food a cheap feeling and taste. I hope they improve their recipes soon or else they might not last very long.
