Came across reviews for this place thought I would read since one night stopped by with my husband for some good oysters . Well...not so much the pictures I saw did not look like my food we had the most tiny itty bitty oysters I've ever seen food under cooked some overcooked. Not to mention the waitress couldn't remember anything I asked for a water refill 2 times never got it as well as my drink I had to send it back 3 times then finally had to tell the bartender how to make it...just a dirty martini nothing fancy! The worst was atmosphere in this place fixtures and tables were very worn and outdated and they have a mini video game arcade... Wtf and stuff tacky! Not to mention I'm in my mid 30's we were the youngest people in the place think I saw my grandpa while I was there. Not going to be enjoying this epic restaurant again sorry. They should either call bar rescue or close shop! UPDATE: Dearest Jodi, First I would like to thank you for responding to my review from 3 months ago. Just to clarify a couple of things you went over one was you used the word "misunderstanding" that word is used when there is lack of communication and both parties may be a bit confused however when I tell you what I want to eat and you bring me bad food that's wrong not my fault or a "misunderstanding" that's on you. As far as the food the oysters were small as well as the texture of gummy bears so over cooked. Also good call on the grandpa joke that's funny however you say your a family restaurant but the next sentence say your a bar and next to your name it says Aw Shucks & Arcade but also you say your a throwback a lil confused. I believe your restaurant is having an identity crisis. It's not vintage I was talking about your floor is dirty it smells funny your seats are ripped your arcade games are from 1980. Not trying to rip on your establishment not every restaurant has to be 5 star and perfectly decorated but you must have 4 things to be successful...atmophere, great staff, wonderful food, clean restaurant. Your place lacks in those areas but once again that is MY opinion only even though the next man may or may not agree. That's why we have Yelp right!?

For a place named Awe shucks that indicates a specialty in oysters, there were a LOT of broken shells in the shucked oysters that appeared to have been shucked 30 min before we even ordered them (they were a little dried up). The side salads had brown lettuce. The steamed shrimp was steamed about 7 mins too long and was pretty shriveled. It did have a nice atmosphere and the tea was good.

Nice large bar that is a U shape which makes socializing easier. Bartenders are all very friendly and attentive. The food is good- wings were very good and their fish sliders were very tasty as well. The place was very clean- when I was there the outside patio which is large had music playing. Its a nice place to go have a few drinks and relax. Monday night is kids night- so if your into that type of thing go..and if your not... go any other day CJ

First off, service was exceptional. Thanks Melissa. I went with my buddy and his 94 year WWII Vet Dad. He loves crab legs so I got him 2 Lb. He loved it. At the end he got to the claws and told Melissa to take the plate away because they were to hard to crack open. She voluntarily opened them for him! She was very busy yet took the time to do that for him! Outstanding effort ! Food was very good and priced right. Will definitely visit more often.

There were pluses and minuses to Aw Shucks. First, the pros: Quickly seated, and our drinks were kept refilled the entire time we were here. We happened to come in on Bingo/Horse Racing night, so that was really fun. Our desert was a peanut butter cup slice of pie, and it was very tasty. The cons: Our waiter, while nice, seemed insistent that should order our food friend, even though we indicated otherwise. He began a spiel about how in all his years working at Aw Shucks, everyone who had it friend just "loved" it. Ok fine, but I want it grilled...? He said I could have that way "if that is what you really want..." Um yes, yes indeedy I do. Also, the food did not taste that fresh. The oysters were a little tough, and looked like sad little vaginas. Not that oysters are beautiful to look at, but these just looked so... depressed. I will be back again, because I think they deserve a second chance.

This review is only for Sunday bunch. We enjoyed the shrimp and grits and crab cake Benedict were tasty. Our server Shawn was good a provided great service. Oh, the place is good to take kids too.

First the menu doesn't seem very cohesive. I ended up ordering the half chicken with Greek potatoes. The chicken was bland and over cooked. The potatoes were under cooked and under seasoned. Based on my my experience I wouldn't recommend this place for a nice dinner

Well, the good seafood restaurant in the area never got their feet under them, so in desperation, we tried Aw Shucks. Half the party arrived 15 minutes before the rest. No one got their drinks until the second half got there. I know 2 diet cokes and an unsweet tea is difficult to fill. We thought we were waiting on 1 more so we mistakenly told our waiter this. Apparently that was the cue to not come back. When we learned she wasn't coming we tried twice to stop him to place our orders. When that failed, we sent one of our own to the corner he was hanging out in to request he come take orders. He arrived after another 10 minutes. We placed our orders and he promised drink refills. After a bit of yelp reading, we realized there was supposed to be a Great brunch. None of us had seen a brunch menu. The manager wandered by and we asked him about it. He offered to let us review the brunch menus and stop our order in the kitchen. At this point we were too hungry and too irritable to deal with that. We asked for refills on the drinks which eventually showed up. The manager brought some sort of fish? Dip and crackers that helped for about 7 minutes. Another 15 minutes later our food arrived. Tiny portions of overcooked shrimp, canned cheese sauce Mac and cheese, very bizarre tasting coleslaw (I'm from NC we do weird things to coleslaw. This was beyond that) greeted us. The fries and broccoli were the stars of the show. Sad sad showing of food. We had to go to the front to pay our bill because we weren't going to get them delivered to the table. Oh Fisherman's, we miss you.

The negative reviews for this place are dumb. Someone who wasn't seated because they were on the phone and because the manager didn't give another couple a personal greeting. I brought my family to this place because I remember going once with my sister and it being great. Once again it was FANTASTIC. We went on Monday night and found out that not only do kids eat free, but they have a clown who does face painting and balloon animals. The kids had a blast and the artist from Fun Faces went above and beyond to accommodate the kids custom face painting and balloon orders. As far as the food that was called "poor," I ordered the low country boil which was seasoned well and the crab was cooked perfectly. My husband got the boom boom wings which he said were tasty. And the kids pizzas came with a side of fresh fruit that was cut to order and included at least four different types of fresh fruit. Would definitely 100% be back.

Food was POOR... Our waiter was VERY friendly... But for this to be a family place, there are not many smiling faces... And we requested that one employee stop using curse words around our family. Furthermore, the manager walked past our table 2 times and didn't acknowledge us... Poor value, and I believe there is an attitude problem here that starts with management. Don't expect it to be open long.

Waitress told us they have new chefs so the food is a lot better now. First time here and so far so good!!! LOVE me some oysters and low country boil :) The restaurant is pretty big. They have an oyster bar, a bar area, restaurant seating for big parties, and even a play room with arcades, etc. They also have outdoor seating with a live band.

Came here on a Friday night and it was not busy. I sat at the front door waiting to be seated and no one came over for 10 mins there excuse was I was on the phone. After being ask if I wanted a table I was seated at the bar. The place looked dirty, the service was terrible, and the food was disgusting. The oysters were dry very very dry didn't taste like oysters at all. I had the crab bites for 8.95 that too was nasty. The food here was cheap I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, please don't waste your money. Try St Mary's seafood down the road or mandarin ale house better quality of food and cleaner establishment. Also I really give them 0 stars

So we really wanted oysters and the restaurant we wanted to go to was jammed pack. Since this place is right around the corner, I figured we would stop here. I was a bit reluctant at first because of previous visits. I felt the portions weren't worth the price. Guess someone put a bug in their ear about that, because the portions this time were huge. I couldn't eat my gyro after indulging in a wonderful oyster appetizer. The oysters were fried to perfection, plump and juicy! They put a small twist on the gyro by including feta cheese. It was a good gyro, but not the best I have had. All in all, this is definitely a spot to visit if you want some good oysters. Treat yourself!!!

First time visit last night on a Saturday. Moderately busy. Server (PJ) very pleasant and friendly. Food slightly above average. A bit pricey. Service was quick and timely.

Took forever to get food and it wasn't very busy, got the fried shrimp and it was mediocre at best. There was bingo going on and some sort of video horse racing game? Why no trivia? Anyway... There is an arcade with screaming kids at 9:00 at night but also a bar as soon as you walk in. Confused with this atmosphere and the target customer the business wants to attract, but it won't be me again.

Wow what wonderful place and scrumptious food. Even my picky 6 yr old was eating my fried to perfection clams. The place is a absolute wonderland for my boys and our waiter Jimmy was about as great and informed as they get. What a great family place that keeps your wallet from hurting itself. My boys can't stop talking about what a great time they had and how good the food is. Really neither can I for that matter. My mom had the stuffed crabs and the portion was so big we got to take some home! I had the clam strips and they were so juicy and succulent . I am absolutely in love with this place and can't wait to go back there. Bring the family cause they will LOVE this place, you can't fake the sincerity and friendliness and most of all the really good food. Thank you for a wonderful lunch!

When we arrived, we sat at the oyster bar. Rick shucked our oysters and they were delicious Apalachicola oysters, so cold -n - salty. We ordered a bucket and ate every single oyster shucked. We also ordered the chicken Philly which was excellent. The fries were a bit tough. We ordered the onion ring appetizer and they were great. The women's restroom was not kept up very well. There was toilet paper all over the floors and paper towels on the floors. The manager came up to us and gave our granddaughters free tokens to play the games. So nice! Overall, the atmosphere was relaxing and the staff was very friendly. A great staff begins with the management. Great visit. We will be back again.

Pleasant surprise from our last visit. We decided to give them another chance because we wanted oysters. Sat at oyster bar and service was good, oysters were amazing. Drinks were so so. We'll go back for oysters. No ambiance at oyster bar it's a shame.

This place is SAD. There is no other word that more accurately describes the whole experience. The wait for the food was excruciating. The server had no polish at all. He seemed completely overwhelmed. The menu has no cohesion whatsoever. The food was less than mediocre. First and last visit.

Wait staff was great on my visit. Mary was quick, attentive and knowledeable about the menu and specials. Granted, it was Sunday after brunch so it may not have been peak times, however our.server was very pleasant and had water silverware refills everything on time. It was a very clean and cozy environment, and I would recommend. Just remember oysters are seasonal and vary in size, especially off season. Well.done 'Aw Shucks'

Atmosphere is really relaxed. Really hoped it would be good. Grand child's lunch came out first. 10 minutes later my husband's came out. It was made wrong sent it back. Note; the manager who bought out his order had an attitude with us when we said it was made wrong. Mine came out 10 minutes later. Still waiting for his food. Grilled shrimp tasted good. Grilled oysters were not good. They taste like chicken livers. Yuck! Don't think we will be back because of the attitudes.

Stopped in on a whim. It was ok, nothing special. I was seated in a relatively empty section of the restaurant, which was ok. Soon, however, I discovered that I'd been sent to Diner Hell, as everyone else who was seated in my section had mostly loud kiddies in tow. The food was tasty, they have some local beers on tap. There is a legitimate oyster bar in part of the restaurant, and some of the menu items are ONLY served there. I'd go back again, but not drive out of my way to visit.

Great "Family" restaurant. Our kids love the arcade. The spinach dip is so cheesy and delicious. A nice break from the usual "chain" restaurants.

Heard great things so I stopped by excited for a new seafood restaurant. Service was slow despite there being plenty of servers and few tables occupied. I ordered the teriyaki salmon and the fish was completely flavorless. The only thing that had a taste was the sauce on it.

Apalachicola Oysters (the best) . Shuckers are very efficient, and fast WITH A GOOD SENCE OF HUMOR Separate sit down oyster bar (might have to wait for seating, but worth it) Good bar service too. Numerous TVs to watch Very reasonable price (for raw Oysters) Many games to play Decent atmosphere, and outside seating. I have been here twice for Oysters only, but have not ordered anything else on their menu.

We went here for the first time for bike nite on Tuesday. I was hoping it would be more like Buffalo's over in OP (yet closer to our home) unfortunately there was no comparison! There were a decent amount of bikes parked out front especially since they've only been open a short while. I think if they were to have a live band and advertise bike nite they could actually make a real go at it. However this was more of a "ride your bike over and eat nite" Not much commraderie going on and nobody out enjoying all the bikes - just watching tv on the deck and eatting. AW Shucks better step it up a notch if they want to stay in business - as for me I'll stick to bike nite in OP
