What is there to not love about this place! Seriously the best brewery in Jacksonville, and not just for the beer. The atmosphere, staff, and location are great! The main thing I enjoy about Aardwolf is the building. It's got that old warehouse feel with lots and lots of room to relax, socialize, and most importantly enjoy your beer. This is the first stop when we have friends or family in town, never a dull moment!

Great brewery. Atmosphere, staff and even the patrons were all so friendly. The beers were all awesome. If you are an IPA fan-- make sure to try Phantom of the Hopera, it was amazing. Can't wait to go back and try more of their beers.

Love this space! Bonus that the beers are good too! I kid, I kid! The staff here really know their beers and they did an awesome job dealing with a massive influx of drunken beer lovers at the El Mariachi release party. Even though it was wall to wall people everyone kept in good spirits and it just made for a great party. Bonus points to them for opening the doors early as a massive storm was rolling in. Follow them on facebook/twitter and get in on the next release party, you won't regret it! Just come early so you get to join in on the bottleshare fun before hand :)

Great location in San Marco. Aardwolf Brewery is located in a restored historic building. It is very welcoming and they have some great beers on tap. Some of my favorites are Nonchalant and Alvin's Coffee Brown Ale. They do not sell food but they invite Food Trucks where you can purchase. If you are into running, they have a weekly run on Wednesday's. In addition, they also have one off releases on Thursday too. They have space you can rent for parties. Aardwolf has been a great addition to the Jacksonville craft beer scene. If you are in the neighborhood stop by. You will not be disappointed.

Bar tender refused to serve beer because she assumed I was buying it for my friend who did not have ID. On top of that she was very rude! Manager sitting next to me gave brief sorry and didn't say anything to bar tender! Customer service?! That's sad that I would have to switch my every Friday Jacksonville place!

The atmosphere is great and people are friendly. I love coming here to hangout and it is a great place to bring the dog. On weekends they have food trucks that dont dissapoint. Only downfall is that their beer is subpar, although I am partial to dark beers, their light beers have not impressed either. I really wish this place could make a great beer because it is such a cool place, but they just have not. And since the beer should be number one they lost 2 stars. If you are not to picky about beers it is an awesome place.

So I finally got a chance to go to Aardwolf last week with a group of friends, and I really enjoyed it there, even if my stay was brief (only got to have 2 beers). The atmosphere was great, especially the décor, the relaxed feel, and several patrons with their dogs. They had a good assortment of beers on their menu, and I was able to try their Saison--I believe Ex-Oblivion (sp?) and the German pilsner--Aadlwolf (sp?). I really liked both, but I definitely preferred the saison. Service was prompt and courteous. I believe the beers were $5 each which isn't bad. Aardwolf provides a great laid back environment in a convenient location. I'll be back for sure!

Yes, aardwolves do exist. And yes, Aardwolf Brewing kicks ass! I've hit all the breweries in the general Jacksonville area and Aardwolf is the best. Between their beers and the staff, you won't find better in Jax. On my visit, I tried both the single and double IPAs, a Belgian trippel, a farmhouse saison, and a stout. All five were top notch! For such a new brewery their beer lineup is damn impressive. And the three bartenders I talked to were all knowledgable and nice...I love good beer conversations with fellow beer lovers and I got that here. I've only been once but they blew me away on that first visit so I'm a fan. I look forward to checking them out on my Jax trips and watching their future growth.

I have an affection for places with exposed brick throw in good beer and I'm in love. Good beer good vibe and dog friendly. Usually a food truck on premises but there are take out dining options near by- like V pizza!!!!

Most of their selections will run you $5 with the sampler running $8. Also they seem to have food trucks stop by and setup outside so the menu will vary day to day depending who is there. Parking is a bit sparse so you may want to get there early or you may be parking far away leaving your car in a less than desirable area. Overall the bartenders are nice but not super engaging. The inside is your standard stripped brick wall affair but its clean and well laid out. The major complaint i have is the bar stools are lacking cushions so your behind will go numb after 10 minutes of sitting. The beers they produce seem to cover most all the styles and am not able to really determine what their overall theme is... Some beers were good some were not so good but overall well worth a stop in to have a flight

If you're wondering what the hell an AARDWOLF is, google it and you won't be sorry. As David P. said, if you like beer, please come here. I have to edit that to say if you like REALLY GOOD beer, come here! LOVE the ambience/decor/design. Industrial, clean, iron decor meets a taxidermy aardwolf. What's not to love about that?

Yeah. Some weird shit went down here. Firstly, I argued that aardwolves didn't exist and was proven incorrect and I hate Being wrong, especially as a Customer. (Thanks for the internet Al Gore.) I bought a t-shirt but she couldn't name the color (olive drab). But she was amazingly competent otherwise concerning beer and As such will be given passage into heaven. Five stars Natalie!

This is perfect. It's cute, has outdoor and indoor seating, dog friendly, has food trucks...the list of pros goes on and on! A visit to Aardwolf Brewery yields a rustic experience in artisanal beer tasting. My boyfriend and I went tonight for a special in asking of a new Belgian-style Trippel aged in red wine barrels. We received delicious and delicate flavored beer with a beautiful chalice (to keep!!) for only 10 bucks a pop. The place is spacious, clean, and well-attended by bartenders. Absolutely visit if you love trying local brews!!

If it wasn't for a rude bartender, this place would get three stars from me. My boyfriend is Army and gave the bartender his military ID. The guy looked at it and literally threw it back to him with attitude. I was so shocked, I didn't get what had just happened. Very unfriendly to us the rest of the time. Lucky for them, we liked the beer and decided to go back and give them another shot. This time we decided to and use his FL ID to see what would happen...service improved. Very strange but at least the beer is good.

In all honesty, I've yet to have a bad experience at any of the area breweries. That said, Aardwolf's actual building is my favorite by far. The place feels much more finished (for lack of a better term) than some of the others. Great place to hang out with a group or for a casual date. My most recent visit was for Belle of the Boulevard's anniversary party. They had the room in the back reserved, which was really nice. Lots of tables and seating plus a little window to order drinks so you don't have to go into the main room. I've heard people say Aardwolf is a little more snobby than other breweries around town but that hasn't been my experience in the least. Oh, and the beer is pretty good, too.

New favorite brew house!!!!!! Love the Yoga Pants! The vibe is awesome and I love that food trucks frequent the parking lot. Our next date night for sure!!!! I love how they experiment with the brew mix....they get crazy and it is appreciated!!!! Keep it up!

Fantastic local brewery. The beers here are flavorful and delicious. The tap room is friendly and has a great ambiance. Modern, but also traditional due to the buildings previous life and use. Excellent place to relax after a days work, or to pick up a growler for the weekend. They frequently have food trucks for getting a bite to eat and the brewery itself often holds events to support local causes. All in all a good place to spend some time and get a beer.

Everyone was very friendly and willing to discuss the ins and outs of their brews, and craft beer in general. And every beer I tried blew me away. I've tried so many, especially in my hometown Richmond, VA, but at Aardwolf, I thoroughly enjoyed every beer. We went early in the evening, so the crowd wasn't crazy. But as we were leaving (probably around 4-5pm) the people starting pouring in. The decor is very crafty, recycled wood and dim lighting. I really love that look and it fits the attitude of the brewery. I absolutely loved the Day of Reckoning and the Phantom of the Hopera. If you want to go for interesting, try the Lactic Zeppelin. The brewmasters seem to be very experimental and willing to put themselves out there, which I think is super important when it comes to craft breweries. I can't wait to go back and see what they have.

This place is amazing! The building is a converted old warehouse - full of character, spacious and wonderfully renovated. A great selection of beers, knowledgeable bar tenders - it's a good place to end the day.

Are you tired of every new business popping up claiming they're about that craft beer life or claiming they brew in house but you know they ain't really bout that life? Then work your drunk little ass over to Aardwolf Brewing Company. These fools ain't playing. They brew beer and they serve beer. That's it. They'll keep it 100 with you and aren't gonna sell you some crap that you're gonna hate. The beer is top notch, the hipster women flock here and all of the servers have beards, so you know it's credible. They don't mess around here and try to front like they know some shit about food. EFF that. They call the pros in and have food trucks come out to appease the lemmings while the honeys get there drink on. In closing, this place is a true, certified pimp spot. If you're here, you already know what's up and if you're about to visit, you're going to become part of a fraternity so exclusive, you'll laugh in the face of the illuminati. If you don't believe the things I'm putting down in the review, take a visit yourself and say hi to Corey, the server with a fucking TATTOO on his head and face. If this doesn't prove everything I just laid out for you, I don't know what does.

After visiting I was disappointed that I had not been sooner. The atmosphere was open and there were several rooms you could go into making it feel much larger than other tap rooms in Jacksonville. The large selection of beers was also better than expected. They feature their own and several other breweries.

  • Joann S.

Honestly the best brewery in FL. Every beer was a handcrafted masterpiece. The hipster popcycle and White Russian imperial stout were absolutely fabulous. Don't cheat yourself- get a flight and try a few- you won't be disappointed. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable- excellent qualities for a craft beer bar.

Amazing brewery with a great selection of styles and seasonals! Highly recommend the hasselhoffenweiss and hop up the wolves. The venue is beautiful and very chill. They often have food trucks outside and everyone always has a great time. It can get a little crowded on the weekends but parking is usually not a problem

Aardwolf is cool. While recently in Jacksonville for a week I came here twice. Both times, the beers were delicious. They allow you to bring in food from the other San Marco restaurants, as well, so I brought over a burrito from Hightide and had quite the time. They just began selling the beers that they are brewing on site and the ones that I got the chance to try were really good. The atmosphere was cozy and unique and the bartenders were nice. Not much more to say but good beer, good people, good times.

This is a great little pub, that also happens to be a brewery... or is it the other way around? Either way, they have a great offering of ales, IPAs, and much more. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is quick and courteous, and it is just a short walk away from the heart of San Marco. This place is a must for a quick pint after work, time with friends, or just to get out and spend time at a great gem of a spot.

First time & First off Product is really top notch. Selection is varied enough that there is something for everyone without being like a phone book of options. Second - the prior reviews about staff and service lacking I found to be complete BS ! The staff is friendly and engaging and willing to offer advice or opines on current options and asks ?'s about what you like or may want to consider trying. Even gave a test drive along with order. Yeah - as gets busy no different from other good spots - less time for chat and it obviously pays to be regular or tip decent.

Aardwolf is probably the swankiest brewery in Jacksonville at the moment. Their tasting room/bar space is really modern and hip with a lot of stainless steel, wood and concrete. It's also really spacious, with 2 other rooms adjacent to the main bar room. They have some tasteful references to their spirit animal (yes, the aardwolf is actually an animal, they live in Africa) scattered around the bar. Their beers are actually pretty good, and seem to be improving with time. This really makes me happy. They seem to really enjoy the experimentation aspect of brewing, with their selections ranging from American IPA's to German Hefeweizens to Belgian Dubbels and then all sorts of variations in between. I think that this dedication to experimentation is really starting to pay off for them as their beer is definitely improving in quality. They are somewhat known for their Belgian IPA, which is not my favorite beer from them by any stretch. I prefer their bigger beers like Early Bird Special (if you can get it!), Hop Pun, Styrofoam Pony and Dubbel Impact, but the hefeweizen, Hasselhoffenweisse, is actually really good too. The beertenders are very knowledgeable and are happy to answer any questions you may have. Another feature that I really appreciate is that they have different food trucks in their parking lot most days of the week. It's almost like a super miniature food truck adventure that happens to be accompanied by great beer. It's really awesome. I will admit that the crowd that tends to hang out there is not my usual crowd. It's a posh bar, since it's in San Marco, and the customers tend to match the scene in that regard. Especially during the week, there's a lot of high level professionals there. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just worth noting. It's less casual feeling than most of the other brewery bars around town. It can get crowded during peak hours but it's generally worth it to tolerate the crowds so you can have tasty beer in a cool place with fun food truck food.

The atmosphere is vibrant. Feels like I'm in an awesome scene of a really good Rom Com with Vincent Vaughn or Ryan O'Neil. My only issue is, I'm not feeling the beer. I guess I'm just an Anheuser Busch kinda guy. The food truck outside, Son of a Butcher is great. Overall, I'm enjoying myself. Adalwolf is my beer of choice. A great place to hang out.

I made a point of visiting Aardwolf for the first time, on a Saturday night, to get an idea of what they were working on there. Dressed in a modern display of clean and subtle industrial style, I liked the welcoming atmosphere of its tap room. It reminded me of a few places in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn (NYC), that I had been to in the recent months, which also lacked intrusive neon signs and noisy television screens plastered all over the place. The real story here was the people and the beer. With a healthy line up of 19 of a 20 tap system, Aardwolf was putting on an interesting display that any beer geek like me couldn't resist. While the beer menu was at an awkward place on the largest bare brick wall and normal customers probably couldn't see the tap handles from either end of the long bar, the selection was stellar and I reached out for the only Aardwolf beer on tap, known as Pinglewolf (Black IPA). It was a very good beer that was freshly drawn and one that had me guessing through the my readings of the BJCP guidelines as to what it might be. Dark in its nature and surprisingly not that hop-laden, I thought it could be any number of styles. Moving on to other beers with my friend, I noted the bartenders to be friendly as well as somewhat attentive. I was glad we had time to talk to one of them, who appeared to be in a management role there, who told us what was going on there. While we were talking to the rep behind the bar, a guy saddled up to the bar next to me with stunning full rack of ribs wrapped in foil. As I quickly found that Aardwolf did not have food served there, the BBQ truck outside seemed to be doing a good job outside of feeding the bar. I will be looking forward to this brewery becoming fully operational and using its tap room as a testing spot for its future creations. I will happily volunteer to be a lab rat there when that day arrives.

Aardwolf is a great place to try new and different craft beers. The taproom is nestled in a retrofitted ice house which provides a great atmosphere to meet with friends and have a beer. I attended one event in the banquet room several months ago which is a great space to host a small party with easy access to the taproom. One criticism however is the parking lot can get very full making parking difficult. It's worth it though, and make sure to check the menu board frequently as the beers rotate.

This wolf didn't rock my earth ( aardwolfbeer.com/what-th… ) I'm not giving up though & will definitely be down to try them again. I love the San Marco/Riverside/Avondale area and love venturing over there to hang out. I was invited out for a beer after an event and since Aardwolf was tapping into their own brews, that's what we wanted to try. We didn't arrive until later in the evening, but the crowd definitely had not fallen off. Love to see the craft beer community going strong in Jacksonville. Love the atmosphere. Plenty of space to mix & mingle. Great outdoor space to hang out with pals & grab a snack off the food trucks on the weekends. I've always loved exposed brick walls & this place looks great. Friendly staff and barkeeps make the atmosphere lively. But when the clock struck 11, they weren't fooling around. Yes, we did get the last call warning so we knew time was winding down. But the speed...err, force...err, attitude...err, I don't know. Just the whole way they shut down was the slightest bit off putting. Won't stop me from going back. I'll just be sure to go in earlier next time.

This place is awesome. Love the interior and location (right across the street from where I work!). I like the selection... you can go heavy or light depending on what you like. It really is a beautiful building and by the train gives it a vintage/unique feel. The bartenders seem nice and passionate about beer. I just wish they served food here!

My fiance and I love this place! SO many delicious beers to choose from and something for everyone. It has a very cool, laid back vibe. You forget you are in Jacksonville, more like a loft in NY. Its definitely worth checking out. They have a food truck onsite most nights. Since they don't offer food they allow you to bring food in from anywhere.

Love Aardwolf! And even more so because it's right around the corner in San Marco. There's always a great after-work crowd that provides a fun mix; professionals, younger folks, anyone's welcome! Plus the space is cool - big, modern, and welcoming. There's always a good vibe, and I love that they have a regular stream of food trucks outside on Friday nights. What's better than tasty craft beers and grilled cheese? The bartenders are really nice, well informed, and will always give a sample of a potential beer you are considering. I'm looking forward to when they finally start brewing so we can check out their offerings. Keep up the good work, Aardwolf!

cannot wait until Aardwolf starts brewing their own beer! The Aard-tuition was great, and the atmosphere could not be better. I've been waiting my whole life for something great to go in that building, and something even better than I'd imagined finally did! :)

I'm the first to review this place???? I'm shocked; the word is already out. I went the other day after work, and I was a little disappointed to learn that they are not brewing their own beer yet. But they do have other great beers on tap. And their tap room is very cool. I'll try to remember to update this review after they start selling their own beer.

Overall impression, nice clean place. Its a nice old building redone into what it really at this point in time is a bar. The feel of the place is open and airy, but frankly, too modern and bland. A very sterile feel to the place in front. IMHO they need to break the ceiling up some, the place has all the character of a school cafeteria or tile showroom, lol. It really needs some acoustic design work done.... Good points, Nice long bar. Nice signs of beer list. Very nice clean bathrooms, Great parking lot. Private room in back. Decent beer list quantity wise and line up wise there was a few things different that it made it interesting. First impressions: 7/18/2013 3:03pm (1503) We got there at opening, but there were folks already in the back, while its marked private, they seemed friendly back there. Still I wanted to sit at bar at first to get a feel for the place. I REALLY like the place allot when it was slow. still Frankly there is nothing to do but drink and talk. Now days sadly so many live on their phones. They had music playing in background. The place was setup for a corporate party. So is the place awesome? humm. Compared to the rest in town, yes. In some way its better. Its got lots of room, but its gets NOISY! I did not want to say much negative about it, I want to visit again and drink in the back. oh heck some negatives, aluminum bar seats are HORRIBLE. ok industrial theme I get it, not comfortable after 1.5 hours...The place is a great grab a beer and wait out the traffic rush, in the front area that is the feel I get. Noisy when it gets crowded. Still if they get some of their own beer it could be great. The got to do something about the noise level though. Still those they know me know I never overate places. A: its not cozy Q: beer was good, still it gave me a headache, that's a bad sign. S: at the bar and no1 there well it better be great, it got crowded not so much. No worse than any other place in town. Sel: ok here is where I know your new, but its a brewery not a bar right? or is it a bar? F: they do not sell food, but like all others in the local brewery category you can order in, and this place is located near more places than most. V: well I think their prices are well a tad pricey. frankly. YMMV

I'll keep this short and sweet. Aardwolf has potential, but their bar tending staff needs to be more receptive/welcoming to their customers. My husband waited for nearly 10 minutes before asking to be helped.

All the problems I mentioned In my previous review have been resolved. This is my go to craft beer place now.

  • Brian S.

They get two stars ONLY because the beer is pretty darn good, but the good news stops there. SPOILER ALERT: DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD. We went during a recent special event and had horrible service. Bartenders were surly, rude, and sarcastic, and that was when they weren't flat-out ignoring customers. The tap room isn't set up to handle a crowd, and servers make it worse by trying to force everyone in-between barstools and tables where there's not sufficient room to walk away from the bar again with your beer. When customers began queueing politely at the open spaces in the bar, bartenders actually came out from behind the bar and yelled at customers to stop. Meantime, buds of the bartenders get head-of-the-line service, chatting amiably while everyone else waits. One poor guy raised his glass in the air after being passed over about a half a dozen times, and a bartender mocked him in front of other customers for it. At the beginning, we were required to provide a credit card to hold the tab open. We prefer to use cash, but they assured us the credit card was just to hold the tab open. At the end of the night we paid in cash, but Aardwolf still charged us the full tab anyway, so we wound up paying for our night twice.

So here is why I like this place. Most breweries go for a bunch of ipa's, a lager, and a porter/stout. Aard wolf stepped outside the typical brewery comfort zone and has a great selection of sour beers, lagers, and barley wines. A great selection. So if your ready to taste some beers that challenge your palate, this is a great place.

Overpriced. Even at $7 a beer, the bartenders don't give you a full pour (and still won't, even when you call them out on the weak pour). The bartender with the face tattoos is a massive prick. I won't go back here again. The space is nice, though (except for the TV room that feels like you are sitting in the middle school cafeteria).

I can't believe it's taking me so long to review this place, I don't know what I was waiting for. I went to Aardwolf before their opening party! Does that make me cool? If you read most of my reviews you know that even if your food is delicious but your service is poor I won't return. Aardwolf has some of the best and nicest employees! I had my wedding reception here and their employees were the best!! They were so helpful and did way more than I was ever expecting them to do. The other thing I want to highlight that the inside of this place is beautiful. Exposed brick and lighting is beautiful. One of the main reasons I wanted my reception there. They have been properly zoned for food trucks so you can find food trucks there on the weekend and even though they do not serve food you are allowed to bring your own in. Oh and their specialty? Brewing, it's yummy

What an absolutely fabulous addition to Jacksonville, and historic San Marco. The space is absolutely gorgeous (especially for a tap room). Formerly a tile factory, inside you'll find high ceilings, exposed brick, modern light fixtures, a long wooden community table and dark wood high tops and leather couches. Outside it just looks like a non-descript brick industrial space by a railroad track. We went around 8 on opening night and got our beers in less than 5 minutes. The vibe was energetic -- buzzing with friendly faces. Loud but not excessively loud. There are two rooms off to the side of the tap room. One looks unfinished but will probably be a private space and the other is very lounge-like with comfy leather couches and chairs. Thankful for a. ample parking b. that it's zoned for food trucks unlike some of the other breweries in town. There's a great spot for them out back with plenty of room to stand around and eat. c. close proximity to other restaurants, making it a great after dinner spot. Welcome, Aardwolf! Great work, guys. Five star status may be in store once they begin brewing and serving their own beers instead of collaboration beers. The space itself is fantastic so I have high hopes. (and hops!)

Went on Thursday nite and surprisingly there weren't a whole lot of ppl enjoying the football game. That said, the lack of noise made for a much more intimate experience. Very nice set-up, awesome décor, great craft beer. The bartender was knowledgeable and helpful, well-versed in the taps. I would absolutely recommend this brewery to others. As an aside, the Jalapeno Truck was outside Aardwolf... the chicken quesadilla was phenomenal!

If you like beer, please come here. Jacksonville has an amazing local brewery scene, and it's very hard for me to crown a champ. Each one has it's own perks. Aardwolf in particular is great for its selection, friendly staff and great location. The non chalant IPA is my jam, but I would drink any beer on their menu. Drink all the beers!

Short: A high quality brewery tap room that allows food to be ordered/brought in Long: The newest addition to Jacksonville's expanding craft beer scene brings with it an open rafter design, exposed brick, and uncanny resemblance to Inutition Aleworks. Guest tap list is well thought out and separates this from the house beer only tap list at Intuition. Prices are higher than other breweries in the area, but the quality is higher. Staff know their stuff. Pro-Tip: these is sometimes a secret tap offering not on the tap list. Good For: Trying high quality local beer in a modern atmosphere Bad For: Bold City homeboys

Aardwolf Brewing Company is a new brewery located on Hendricks Avenue in the San Marco area. Although Aardwolf does not currently brew their own brewskis, the bar features ample choices for beer lovers of all kinds. The cordial bartenders are prompt with their service and knowledgable of the different beers they currently feature on tap. Still unsure after a beers description if it'll agree with your pallet? Don't fret! The bartenders at Aardwolf will grant you a generous sample if you ask for one. Try it before you buy it! The rustic atmosphere reminded me a lot of some of the breweries I've visited in Colorado. Complete with plenty of seats and booths, exposed brick on the walls, and low lighting provide Aardwolf with a delightful ambiance. There is also a room sectioned off from the the taproom that features comfortable leather couches and chairs, an ideal spot for sipping libations and getting lost in conversation. Like most breweries, Aardwolf doesn't sell food. However, feel free to bring your own food and snacks with you. There is High Tide Burrito, Hurricane Wings, and a couple of sandwich restaurants nearby. The ample space in the parking lot allows for easy parking and makes it an ideal spot for local food trucks to set up shop. Overall, I'm excited to have Aardwolf in San Marco and can't wait to sample some of their own brews once they get the proper licenses to brew their own.

This was the absolute worse service I've ever had. My friend and I stepped up to the bar and was not acknowledged even after 40 minutes. We changed spots to the end of the bar thinking there might be protocol we didn't know about and were absolutely ignored. Two bar tenders on a Friday night, no room to walk around people. Did I mention we were completely ignored? Worst.

Housed in old warehouse, it has a really nice vibe. Beers were really good and there is a large selection. Although many of these selections are varing IPAs. Definitely worth a stop WGN in Jax.

This was horrible service. Went to the bar and just got looks from the bartender. They were too busy talking to friends to acknowledge us. Waited patiently for about ten minutes and still no one helped us. The bar tender literally stood in front of us then a woman whom had been there already had walked up next to us and received instant service. I guess we didn't look the part of their normal patrons. Will not be returning.

This place is SWEET really nice inside with the old brick and framing from many years gone bye. They have a ton of local beer some from only a few feet away. We had a good size group and all of my friends have already been here a few times. I was the only newbie in the group. My only down fall of the place is they don't have anything for a non drinker. Beer Beer Beer is the only thing on the menu. It was nice to have a food truck that could take care of my needs.

  • Ryan K.

Based on the service, other reviews and inability to be able to try a sample of the beer on draft. I gave these guys 3 stars. Don't get me wrong the old building look is very nice along with the lighting. After arriving and sitting at a table for 15 mins I decided no one wanted to wait on me, so I had to get up and walk to the bar to order a beer. Normally if I sit longer than 20 mins I leave. But since it was late and my first time here I wanted a drink. They don't brew there own yet so I was told I wasn't able to sample anything, which sucked. I wish they would also serve some type of food or have someone come in like at Bold City. As far as the inattentiveness of the staff they lost points there, I mean waiting that long to get a drink is like waiting for a drink at Kickback's 30mins later. They need to step it up if they want to excell.

CAN brew their own beer now, and doing a fine job. 18 brews available at the moment. Try the White Russian if it's still around. No food. I'm told you can bring your own grub in.

  • Em R.

Good beer, good location, good ambiance! Here's the only downside. Very little of their own beer. Only 1 was available while I was there. They don't serve food but they'll have food trucks on occasion and they let Jimmy John's deliver to us inside. Had a great time, we'll definitely return!

Great selection as they usually have 20 taps brewed in house. Almost all are delicious and quite complex. The whole set up is nice from the grassy entrance with picnic tables to the bar and decor.

Good choices of well brewed beer. Don't really go for the"bring your own food" set up. Rough they had more of a selection of local brew, but still a cool place to go with knowledgeable staff and a friendly and relaxed atmosphere

Great atmosphere and vibe. Really friendly and educated crew at the bar. I always learn something new about brewing and brews when I hang out here. They also support a lot of great causes. Looking forward to many more nights of trying their latest creations!

I'm a little sad that Aardawolf Brewing Company, is not operational a this point. I've heard on good authority that there has been issue after issue with their equipment. However, Jacksonville's Brewing Community has been doing collaborations with Aardwolf. I was fortunate enough to have a raspberry brew and I can't remember the particular style of beer. It was a very complex drink that had a smoky aftertaste. The bartender could not sample this beer, since it was made in such a small quantity. I wish they had a more balanced selection of beers. It seems that in Jacksonville if you don't like IPAs or stouts than you should only have one or two choices. I hope that when Aardawolf Brewing is operational that it will have a wider variety of beer. As for the actual space, I really enjoyed the industrial chic atmosphere of the bar and seating area. I am a little sad that there is no tile from the tile store that used to occupy the space. It is such a large space, that is a really good place to bring large parties. I also saw on their website the German benches for a biergarten. I hope they follow the Bavarian custom that at Biergartens one is allowed to bring in outside food. It is also good that Aardawolf is in an commercial area, so hopefully it will be allowed to have large parties and not face any complaints from neighbors. Aardawolf has a lot of potential and I hope it thrives.

Building and atmosphere is super cool. And i love that there's a new place closer to Mandarin, since there's NOTHING cool in Mandarin. Had a wide variety of beers on tap, although no gluten free which is common in a craft brewery. They lost stars for mediocre service, it just seems like they don't have enough bar people - and they don't come out from behind the bar. But there's a seating area outside, beautiful - and there was a food truck on site for munchies, which I understand there usually is. We'll be back!

  • David F.

Visiting from San Francisco and this place was spectacular. They had a ton of different types of beers on tap, all that they make there. We ended up being there for their 1 yr anniversary and it was a great party. The people who work the bar have good attitudes. They don't have food, but they do normally have food trucks around.

I have been patiently awaiting the opening of Aardwolf for the past couple of months. We decided to go for happy hour, day 2 of opening (around 5:00) and loved it! The space is so unique. There is exposed brick, high ceilings with large beams, modern furniture & an overall industrial vibe. There is also a separate room with large leather couches with more of a casual/cozy aura. It wasn't very crowded when we went & we waited no time for our beers. I enjoyed the Aardtuition brew which was slightly floral, almost like a hefeiweizen. Others at my table really liked the Pinglewolf. They aren't able to brew their own beer yet but have a pretty good selection of local brews (about 15 total). I like that there is ample parking at this brewery, as that is one of my biggest complaints regarding Intuition& riverside bars. I know I will become a regular at Aardwolf! 5 STARS!!

Friendly service, beautiful interior with views of the brewery, a food truck out back on most nights, an amazing selection of brews from all corners of the globe, including several originals that are always on tap and a pilot batches on the regular; Aardwolf is the neighborhood brewery you can't miss in Jax.

Went here for an Art Show, Hop Art by Local Artist Coming Together group. First off, the Music was fantastic. A little swing jazz group. The beer was delicious, made fresh there at Aardwolf (and what a great selection!) Styrofoam Pony kicked my ass! And the art was great too! I will be coming back here.

Alright! New brewery!! And in San Marco, to boot. Aardwolf is a nice addition to the 'hood and, despite a few hiccups I experienced on opening night, I think it's going to be a great new hotspot. First things first - the space is fab. With exposed brick, swanky tracklighting and an open floor plan, this is definitely the kind of place I'd like to go to throw back a few brews with my girlfriends. And hey, if there are some guys hanging out at the next table that happen to come over and talk to us, that works too. Just sayin' One thing that was weird - Aardwolf can't yet serve their in-house brewed beers, so they have collaborated with three local breweries to produce their signature ales. If I understand correctly, they gave their unique recipes to Intuition, Green Room, and Pinglehead, and had the beer brewed there. Now, I get that, but when I showed up to a super-crowded opening night and saw a beer named "Aardtuition" described as Aardwolf + Intuition, I was a little perplexed. Were they blends? Is it a pale ale, stout, cream whale? Your guess was as good as mine. After waiting 20 minutes or so for service I asked the bartender "What's the story with the mixes and the other breweries?" to which she gave me MAJOR attitude and replied "You mean the collaborations?!?" Ummm, I don't know. It's opening night and there are no descriptions. That's why I'm asking you. Oh well, they were busy. I ordered one of each of the collabos (Not all for me, I swear!) and thought they were all pretty tasty. The Pinglehead-brewed stout-style beer was a little strong and syrupy, but that's how I feel about Pinglehead in general so that was fitting. As Caron S mentioned, I LOVE that they're zoned for food trucks and foresee some fabulous events happening here in the future. The space is certainly large enough! All in all, I think Aardwolf is going to do great in San Marco, and I'm excited to have yet another fabulous local brewery in the mix in Jax!
